Oh I love Tobirama! May I ask for hcs of our dear grumpy sensor agreeing to an arranged mariage with a civilian, for political reasons? Like the daughter of a lord, the Senju needed support from him or something. Thanks!
You most certainly can! I wasn’t sure if you wanted the smutty headcanons so I cut it off at the end but I can always continue with the rest when they finally do-the-do if you like. This is quite lengthy.
-Honestly this is the most likely scenario of him getting married. An arranged marriage just makes sense and it’s not like he’s going out in the world intending to fall in love or anything. He’s not a child (his words, not mine.) He just doesn’t have time to waste on personal matters.
-He’d still be picky about choosing who would be best suited for an arranged marriage, depending on the time period, what they needed, what would best benefit the village - that sort of thing. The person in question doesn’t really matter but their reputation and what they bring to the table does.
-So let’s say it’s the lord that oversees the Land of Fire that has a daughter. An alliance with the lord would be most beneficial especially since they carry a heavy weight in matters concerning the village and matters of state. They need to be in his favour and since Hashirama is already married, Tobirama is the next logical choice. It’s not a done deal straight away though. Tobirama is nothing if not a logical and thorough man when it comes to strategy. Emotions don’t cloud his judgement. Or so he thinks.
-Hashirama helps him sort through the other candidates. And by help I mean he’s basically a prop for Tobirama to use to voice his own opinions. They consider their political options, economical options and alliance options. Hashirama makes a point he should also pick someone who he would coexist with. Tobirama scoffs at that. Why wouldn’t any of these people coexist with him if they’re offered up. His brother is talking nonsense. And don’t even get him started about Hashirama telling him to wait in case he wants to marry for other reasons. He always retorts that they don’t have that luxury.
-They (mainly Tobirama) comes to the decision to marry the lord’s daughter, you. He doesn’t really need to meet you before the decision but it’s tradition to meet as a courtesy and they can’t afford to appear rude. When you two meet he seems quite cold. Almost scary. But that’s okay you’ve learnt to hold your own, it’s not like you’re overjoyed by the prospect of marrying a stranger. You smile and play nice but he’s short and curt. Not rude exactly but he offers you nothing to go on. Perfect. At least he’s not a creep like the others you almost had to marry.
-Then came the wedding ceremony. By that time he had spoken maybe 5 words to you in total. Again, it was to be expected. On the wedding day there’s nerves all round. Not because of the ceremony exactly but rather the finality of the match. Tobirama worries about the decision he has made for the village. It’s only when he sees you in your wedding attire that (for a split second and not more) he wonders if you’ll have a beneficial life together. It’s the only selfish thought he has the entire ceremony. The village as always is his main priority.
-You see this moment, it flashes in his eyes but you have no idea what it is. Perhaps it’s cold feet. The moment of vulnerability you saw made you realise that perhaps this man isn’t just made of ice and that there is more beneath the surface. A fascinating thought in deed.
-After the ceremony you both retire to your new home, one that you would have to work to create your own. When you enter the bedroom a heavy silence weighs between you. You both sit on the bed backs facing each other as you take in the finality of the evening. The atmosphere reeks of an ending rather than a beginning, like a funeral happened rather than a wedding. But maybe that was fitting, you lost your freedom to dream about marrying someone you were familiar with or perhaps even loved. Tobirama now had someone he had to take care of and think about in terms of his own personal image and life. A new burden weighed in both your hearts.
-Noticing he made no move to touch you, you decided you weren’t some chicken or afraid. You would be the one to have some sort of control in this relationship. Taking a breath you stand up and walk in front of him. His eyes are on you instantly. Keeping his gaze you slowly begin stripping your clothes. A part of you is happy to rid the garments that seemed like shackles. Shackles that bind you to him. The look in his eyes tell you he is thinking the same thing.
-Once you’re left in your undergarments you take another step closer, to stand between his legs. You dare to place a hand on his shoulder which you feel tense immediately. It’s now or never. ‘Better get on with our duties.’  You tried to sound confident, lustful even but Tobirama could see in your eyes that this was the last thing you wanted. Even if you couldn’t admit it yourself.
-When he didn’t move to touch you, you felt a tremor in your hand. You removed it immediately and made to remove the rest of you under clothing. His hand quickly snatched your wrist. ‘Don’t force yourself.’ He said, before letting you go. His tone wasn’t soft but his kind meaning didn’t escape you. Hell he could have his way with you if he wanted to but here he was rejecting you. No, not even rejecting you but giving you the choice.
-He quickly stood and brushed by you to the other side of the room. ‘We will do it on our own terms since it’s our marriage.’ He groaned like it pained him to continue, ‘Whenever you want to, we will do those duties. Get dressed and rest.’ With that he left the room, leaving you in stunned silence.
-It was well after you had finally gotten dressed and into bed that you heard Tobirama slip in beside you. The bed was big and he kept to his own side but there was a lot of tossing and turning from the both of you. And it was an awkward restless night between the two of you.
-It takes awhile for the two of you to get into a familiar routine. You did what was expected of you. Cooking, cleaning and serving as a political ambassador of sorts. The two of you worked around each other. Tobirama would wake up early and do his duty to the village. You woke each time and watched him get ready. You weren’t sure if he noticed. He did but he never said anything. It felt invasive to him at first but after awhile it soothed him.
-But though the routine was beneficial it wasn’t exactly a relationship at all. It was a sort of hi, bye sort of acquaintance amongst strangers. Tobirama felt a little guilt for that but didn’t make an effort to change because he always felt other things were a priority. Apart of you began to understand the sort of man he was but you had no idea what he thought or felt. So you started off small in order to try and change this.
-You began to ask him basic questions. Would you like some tea? No. Would you like this for dinner? If that works. When will you be home? It’s hard to say. You went on like that for a few weeks, slowly getting to know the things her preferred like: water in the morning and tea in the evening. His favourite kind of fish to eat. That he always thanked you for meals even though he didn’t bother with small talk. Every time you learnt something you saw it as a victory.
-Tobirama was taken back at your questioning at first. It always seemed personal and you never included anything about yourself. He took it upon himself to merely observe you instead. Noticing that you wrote with your write hand, that you like adding extra seasoning to your meat and that you really really liked drinking green tea. One time he was given some tea as a gift so he brought it home and left it on the counter for you. He didn’t say a word about it but you knew it was him and thanked him. He appreciated that you didn’t make a big deal about it. He hated that sort of thing. It was awkward.
-Months went on like this. One day while he was strolling through the village with Hashirama he saw you with a friend laughing. He stopped for a moment looking how carefree you looked. There was something about seeing you laugh that struck something inside him. He’d never seen you laugh before. Was that normal? He was a pretty serious person himself but you seemed softer. The world hadn’t made you hard. He admired that.
-After this you noticed him changing a little. He asked about your acquaintances in the village posing it as him making sure you were settling into the village. He asked what you liked about the village. He started asking how your day was when he came home. Your answer varied from good to fine. Sometimes you’d elaborate but only in small detail because you could tell he was exhausted. His own answers ranged from fine to satisfactory. He never elaborated at first. And he never really smiled at your answers but always showed he was listening intently. You appreciated that.
-As time went on you warmed more and more to each others presence. He was wary and you never pushed to hard. It was a nice balance. At night the space between you in the bed didn’t seem so far anymore and you enjoyed the warmth of sleeping with another person even if you weren’t physically touching each other. And just like that you began craving more of him. Not necessarily physically but you wanted to know him, perhaps better than anyone else. So that became your new goal.

Tumblr media
Hello everyone!! First off: huge thanks to everyone who filled out/shared the survey I posted a little while back. There were nearly 200 responses (190 to be exact) - MUCH more than I initially expected! So, I really appreciate it :)
Without further ado, here is the first set of results from the survey! This post is a basic report of average character ratings. More analysis to come!
IkeSen
Cybird's Ikemen Sengoku was the single most popular game in the survey (85% of you have played the game before!). Let's take a look at the average warlord ratings. Ratings were given from 1 to 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best.
Tumblr media
It's safe to say that most of IkeSen's cast has been really well received by the fandom! Although meme-lord Sasuke leads the pack (by less than 0.01...), Team Nobunaga rates higher than Team Shingen+Kenshin by about 0.6 of a point on average (8.0 vs 7.4). ...And then, there's Kennyo. Poor guy. I'm not too surprised, though, tbh, given the monk's self-imposed angsty villain status.
What's funny is that neither of the top two warlords have main routes, at the moment. Seems like IkeSen fans have a lot to look forward to in future updates!
SLBP
Next up we have Voltage's super popular Samurai Love Ballad: PARTY app (played by 74% of you)! Here are the average ratings:
Tumblr media
Unlike with IkeSen, where a good half of warlords were all rated more or less equally highly, there is tons more variation in the SLBP ratings! The entire Date clan is almost universally adored, with an average rating of 8.2 out of 10. People don't seem to be quite as fond of Team Nobunaga - the Oda clan+allies have an average rating of 6.5 (the Takeda clan averages out at 6.9).
The three ninjas (Saizo, Sasuke, and Sakuya), haven't been overly well received by the fandom either, with an average rating of 6.5. Voltage has been pushing the ninjas on us pretty hard, so it'll definitely be interesting to see how future ninjas are received by English-speaking fans!
Final SLBP thoughts: it's the “gentle” warlords that lead the pack in terms of ratings! Takeaway? Nice guys don't always finish last, after all. ;)
MysMe
Tumblr media
Let's move on to the super famous Mystic Messenger app, brought to us by the lovely Cheritz. A good 73% of you have played this game! It's pretty time intensive; props to everyone who'a finished all the routes. Based on what little I know about the fandom, the resulting ranking probably won't be all that shocking to you. 707 is an extremely popular fan favorite; I'm only surprised his average rating wasn't higher, to be honest.
MidCin
Tumblr media
Next up, we have Cybird's Midnight Cinderella! All you Wysterian princess seem to really like your nobility, seeing as we have a duke, a king, and an archduke leading the pack. Those mysterious Stein boys (excluding the spoiler) are also slightly more well loved by the fandom overall, with an average rating of 7.5, compared to 7.1 for everyone else.
IkeRev
Last but certainly not least in our list of otome games, we have Ikemen Revolution, an exciting app from Cybird that's less than one month old! Given how new the app is, it is truly hilarious how quickly opinions have already formed. Let's take a look:
Tumblr media
...Well then. The fandom seems to prefer the freedom-loving Muggles over the tyrannical wizards in general: Black Army ratings average 7.9, compared to 7.3 for the Red Army. To be fair, this survey was released two weeks ago, when the app was still pretty new, so I wonder if opinions will shift over time as more information about the armies and their conflict come to light!
Final observation: neither Oliver nor Yoosung from MysMe seem to have been all that well received by their respective fandoms. They are also both the most childish. Coincidence? I think not.
Bonus: MC ratings
Boys are cool and all, but if you’re anything like me, MC’s play can play a huge role in your enjoyment of a route. So which MC’s do folks like the best?
Tumblr media
Turns out that while there are exceptions, IkeSen’s sass queen MC reigns supreme in most people’s hearts. Actually, if you think about it, the sass levels really start dropping the further down that MC ranking list you go.
So... the MC’s at the top of the list definitely strike me as much more Westernized, for lack of a better description, than the MC’s at the bottom. Which is fascinating, when you consider the fact that all of these games were developed in Asia. Just some food for thought.
That’s it, for now! I hope you found these results as interesting as I did. But wait! There's more! Curious to see which characters are the most polarizing? Ever wondered how powerful character trope preferences actually are? Stay tuned for the next post in this series!
