rapid covid tests being so available has really made me wish that there was an accessible rapid test for adeno/corona/rhinoviruses. I know the argument is that knowing you have one won't change how u treat it since it's all symptomatic anyway, BUT! it would at least let me know WHAT i'm dealing with. Like do I feel like shit today bc i have a cold? allergies? slept with the AC on? sinus thing? cos i need to deal with each of those things slightly differently and what helps one might be shitty for others. PLUS i am chronically ill/disabled/whatever, and i cannot tell u how much it would improve my life to get a heads up. To get sniffly, take a test and know whether it's probably just allergies, take some meds you'll be right tomorrow OR nah bro this is a cold you're going down prepare yourself. like honestly.

#bing bong #not to mention that #as someone with allergies #covid tests let me determine if it's just allergies (safe to interact w people so long as allergy symptoms don't involve #coughing and sneezing on people #or if it's covid and i need to stay the fuck home #but like...... there are other illnesses i can pass to people!!#side note: shout out to the nz government for launching an ad campaign encouraging people to stay home when they're sick #while doing absolutely nothing to actually make that possible for people #like i'm with you yes stay home when yr sick #but do you really think that the issue is that folks on minimum wage love working so much that they CHOOSE to go in when they're sick??

You know, when I kept getting asked "so you didn't ever have severe pains before now?" in the hospital and I kept replying "I have a high pain tolerance" I meant it. However, there is only so much pain my tiny 4'9" body can hold... (aka I am sweating and in agony bc I'm getting told to use LESS severe pain meds so I don't rely on them too much and it is AWFUL)

#moe talks a lot #i was shaking earlier and despite the fact i sound like im gonna cry #and the fact that my mom can pick out im about to cry from pain bc im trying to take less pain meds #LIKE MY MOM IS INSTRUCTING ME TO DO #shes like well why arent you taking any pain meds #BECAUSE THERE ARE TWO AVAILABLE OPTIONS AND ON A SIX HOUR TIMER #i cant take both at once or else what happens to me if i hurt before the six hours is up #i have to manage them in a way that allows me to benefit from both and being told im doing it wrong #after being told well its your fault it got so bad because you never complained about pain before #YEAH NO JOKE? REALLY? I NEVER DID? because everyone acts like im too young to feel that kinda pain #oh youre hurting? just wait until youre older #and its currently agony to breathe again but that i guess is also my fault bc im trying to use pain meds #holy moly i just want to not get dizzy standing up cause wow dang #sure would be nice if the multiple incisions in my stomach didnt THROB every time i sneezed or coughed or cleared my throat #but since i didnt use much pain meds before because i would be mocked for being too much of a baby its like #welp damn now i could really use some and im being called out for being too reliant #anyway time to sleep more because that means im not noticing my pain #im literally smaller than most children and so i do understand my body size makes people worried about the medication intake #but can i please just go a day without being asked how much im taking or when i last took it or if im gonna cry #anyway sorry for the excessive rant today never really had surgery or anything so this is brand spankin new suffering

if you, your child, or anyone you know and plan to hang out with are coughing/sneezing rn... please consider NOT going to a public place like a cafe! or, send the healthy one inside MASKED.

baristas and line cooks and register workers and servers and all service workers are PEOPLE WHO CAN AND DO GET SICK.

- sincerely, a cafe worker who is immunocompromised, needs to be healthy for an upcoming procedure, and whose coworkers pretty much are all sharing a flu

#ok to rb #our shift manager has a fever and is trying to keep themself scarce but no one can cover for them #i know at least 4 coworkers have for sure a flu (fever + vomiting)#and the amount of people who cough/sneeze uncovered directly facing workers and food displays is ungodly high #also please. little children. i understand that masking them is hard and teaching them to cover coughs and sneezes is hard but PLEASE DO IT #do you know how many kids cough all over the damm place here #also our bakery case has gaps around the corners and i swear these children inevitably cough into those gaps

It is literally bizarre how people are behaving about masks. My friends and family are like “yeah I’m getting sick like every two weeks now even tho I haven’t had a cold for like two years!!! What’s up with that” and when I tell them it’s because they were wearing masks for the last two years and if they don’t want to constantly have colds they should wear a mask again because it reduces your risk of getting airborne illnesses by like 70% and they go “no I don’t think that’s it”

psychonauts infection au except its just a mild unidentifiable virus that gets everyone sick. doesn't kill anyone but somethings going around the office and its probably just a variation of the flu but everyones reactions to getting sick range from "im going to keep working even if it kills me" to "mother, will you bring me to the garden one last time?"

#symptoms mostly just range from slight cough to fever #the upper staff are scrambling to get sick people to stay home or at least sneeze their brains out and go in balls instead but nobody wants #(and sneezing out your brain through congestion feels very gross. nobody likes the idea of having snot on their brain)#Sasha's either working through fever and delirium or went on sick leave the moment he started sneezing

You have to think things will get better, otherwise what is the point!!! You have to hold out hope that things will get better and then maybe one day things will feel safe and be cool and everything will be fine (at least as fine as it can be)

I have to hope my body will heal and I will feel better but it’s so hard #change has to come at some point and I have to hope I can make it to that point #I’m having a terrible time coping with the pain and fatigue and mental strain covid has left me with #I want to feel okay again so badly #all I want in the world is to make art and experience art and music and movies and live a little life with my partner in some place nice #I’m scared I’ll never feel okay enough to have that and I’m scared the world won’t ever feel safe enough again to have that #I just keep telling myself something has to change and trying to believe it so hard #if I make it through this pandemic with any semblance of health and stability I will be happy #I don’t even want to think about how much trauma the pandemic has given me and will continue to give me #I grieve everyday for the world that could’ve been and the person I will never get the chance to be because of this pandemic #my health anxiety has skyrocketed in the past four years and just keeps getting worse #I can’t hear people coughing or sneezing or sniffling without panicking for a few seconds every time #I already had emetophobia before 2020 but now I have the same panicked feeling from anyone exhibiting any signs of illness #it’s exhausting T-T everything is exhausting #sorry for vent-ish post on main ik it’s not very professional but whatever this is my blog #covid tw
