Dius kept tags on Isabella that evening. Watched her lounge around the kitchen with her mother for a couple of hours before she headed upstairs. Darting around the garden like a shadow. He watched Seamus make supper, and then sit in front of the TV until it was time to go to bed. Completely normal people stuff. And as he stood there, watching Isabella move about her bedroom through the light coming through the rolled down blinds, it hit him how very non normal his own life was. He'd never had any of this. Was this what Mav pictured when he spoke about dreams for a family? Well... It would never happen for Dius anyway. A mate just wasn't for him. He would never dream to be that lucky.
Dius found himself a good perch, halfway up a tree, where the leaves and branches would hide him, but he still had some view into Isabella's room. He brought up his tool, turning off the lights on the thing and texted Mav.
[text] They're all home. Things are calm for now. But you never know. So I'm spending the night outside their house.

@turianspeedjunkie “Huh?” Dius looked up, towards the bathroom door. “Yeah euhm… Sure. Whatever.” Shit. He had to snap out of this. Dius shook his head and threw the t-shirt onto the jeans. It wouldn’t matter, it didn’t matter. It wasn’t a big deal. No one cared what Mav was wearing… And still he couldn’t quite shake the uncomfortable thing that sat at the top of his spine.

Mav rinsed himself of soap and then stepped out of the shower. He grabbed the towel and wrapped it around his waist after he dried off his fringe. Then he meandered out of the bathroom to see Dius standing by the bed. An old t-shirt and an even older pair of jeans next to it. "That works," He hummed, letting the towel fall so he could dress, flicking a grin over his shoulder at Dius. "I left you some hot water. I think anyway."

Hiya! Quick question: OCtober's prompts #20 "Tear" like cry or "tear" like ripping something? Or does it matter?
Any and all interpretations are welcome! I intentionally included words with multiple meanings/usages so y'all can have a bit of flexibility, so get creative!

Y'know, I started following you bc you've got a lot of turian/Mass Effect art and that's my thing. Then I see all the food posts, the dresses (omg the dresses are beautiful, I show them to my mom and it's inspired her and that's wonderful) pride things and general wholesomeness, and yeah, I'm here for it. Thank you for making my dash an even happier place.
That is so, so nice to say <3 I do still love Mass Effect, just haven’t been as active with it for a little while or had the spare income to get commissions done. Mostly though I just like seeing pretty things and ideas for things I’d like to cook one day while still appreciating peoples original characters from both fantasy and sci fi. And when I get more commissions I’ll be sure to share them!
I’m glad my blog is a place you can enjoy. That’s what I hope it is for everyone <3

December 2020 OC Prompts
4. Mosaic
The silence of the hall was all encompassing. Terasu hesitated at the threshold. There was something awe-inspiring about the building’s presence. A holiness even she couldn’t deny. If that’s what the feeling was. Certainly there was a sense about the place that it was somehow greater than she was. Greater than her minor concerns by comparison.
She stepped inside. Not realising she was holding her breath as the first footstep echoed around her. And the second. The place seemed to resonate with life. The hall was certainly a marvel of engineering. Its acoustics only seeming to amplify more the sense that this place was... sacred. Other.
Beneath her feet the floor was tiled in an astonishing mosaic depicting the Moon Goddess so many Pantorans worshipped. The skill and artistry that went into designing and meticulously crafting it seemed to her more wondrous than the figure it portrayed. And it was this she had come to see. It felt strange, being on a pilgrimage to see some of Pantora’s architectural wonders.
Further footsteps echoed around her. These somewhat heavier, echoing a little more dully.
“Well this is different.”
Dinena’s deep voice sounded more intense within the hall. The Zabrak woman gestured around at the pillars, engravings and murals on the walls.
“I didn’t know you believed in this... stuff”
“I don’t. But you have to admit there’s something about this place. A sense of something spiritual.”
Dinena looked down at the mosaic beneath her feet. Two small Vulptex were part of it here, at the feet of the Moon Goddess.
“I don’t know about that.”
A pause.
“This stuff isn’t really my thing, y’know.”
Terasu looked at Dinena as she turned to walk further into the hall. The Zabrak woman wasn’t really looking at anything. And while she wished it was an interest she could share with her, Terasu knew there wasn’t a chance she’d find any of it remotely interesting. Still, she had agreed to come. For her sake.
“So who is this... goddess?”
Terasu jogged lightly to catch up with Dinena, slipping a hand into hers as they stood at the foot of a small hot spring. Both glanced up as she pointed to an opening in the ceiling where snow was falling, down into the spring below. As they watched the planet above the moon slowly moved within the opening.
“My people believe that she is a bringer of good fortune and fertility.”
She laughed at the idea.
“Millennia ago my people believed Orto Plutonia orbited our homeworld. That we stood on the planet and it was our satellite. This was long before my people developed space technology, much less an understanding of it. Not everything people believe is true”
Dinena gave her a side glance.
“So why come here, if you don’t believe it?”
The Pantoran shrugged, holding out a hand to catch the falling snow.
“Its beautiful. This place I mean. And there’s a certain... something about it. It almost makes you FEEL like she’s real, you know? Its a comforting feeling.”
“Well, if it makes you happy, we can stay here as long as you like.”
Terasu smiled, pulling Dinena closer.
“Thanks.”

Standing behind Cato Cillian wrapped his arms around his boyfriend holding him close as they looked out from their hotel at the city of Paris. They had just arrived an hour or so before, enough time to settle in and take in the city from their hotel room.
“The city of lights.” Cillian says. “A sorta nick-name people gave Paris a long time ago.”

SAMPLE/TEST ROLE PLAY POST
◢ A R T E M   L Y K O S
——————————————————————————————
Now while Artem Lykos was quite the master wordsmith and diplomat amongst the ranks of the Blue Suns, no amount of sweet talking got him out of bird watch duty that evening (and no, he wasn’t assigned to the task because of the relationship between the Avian and Turian species - that’s just racist), with an EYE for detail, specifically one synthetic techeye lodged neatly in his skull; he had the arsenal to wheedle out nosy little birds that shouldn’t be sticking their beaks into places where they don’t belong.
So apparently a pilot’s beauty sleep didn’t amount for much these days, according to his Boss, whom had the audacious opinion HE, Artem, already slacked off too much! The NERVE!
. . . OKAY SO - maaaybe he took an unscheduled ‘vacation’ when the Blue Suns joined forces with Blood Pack and Eclipse to try and take down Archangel; but could you blame him? That whole affair had been a shit show! One of those “Yeaaah, naaah,” moments in your life.
But he digressed, he was here, outside some dank warehouse because the Boss man ordered him to be there while the deal went down with Loghian. And while following orders wasn’t exactly Artem’s strong suit; if the order was accompanied by a threat to his well being, well that was the right motivation! Said pilot, seeing reason and actually gets up off his ass and does something.
“FREEZE! - HANDS UP!”
(GROAN) Like now. NOW he was going to have DO something! Damnit why did he have to work? At . . . well work. - No witness’ that was what the Boss said.
With a rumbly subharmonic sigh Artem left his post by the main entrance to the warehouse and followed the threatening prattle a half a block down the transport depot.
“Hand over all yer credit chits! NOW!”
What a surprise, said no one ever; he had happened upon familiar cretin doing the worst impersonation of a mugging he had ever seen. (Omega’s standards were lofty)
But what did pique his interest was the moronic Batarian’s  victim, another Turian, male, violet clan facial tattoos, all the usual Turiany stuff, but what baffled the mercenary pilot was; what a bird (it’s not racist when he uses the term) like him was doing in a nest of vipers.
Artem didn’t need his advanced optic tech functions to a prediction of the outcome of this unfortunate encounter.
Pyyyjak - nothing was ever easy was it? Artem had planned on just shooting the trespasser on site, everyone on Omega were Aholes so he usually would never reproach himself but THIS - he didn’t know what to do with THAT. A well honed sense of self preservation, the apathetic criminal decided on a different approach to this precarious negotiations (loosely speaking). He didn’t like it.
Growing up on Omega, meant you knew almost every lowlife the galaxy had to offer, which also included this louse. “Grell! Friend! - Wacha doin’ in this end of Omega?” the pale plated Turian cut in with complete disregard grace and etiquette, adding a conceited drawl to his flang.
With a nefarious history of thievery and crime, Artem was adeptly light on his feet and swiftly closed the remaining yards between him and this FAIL mugging in progress; yet somehow managing to keep his pace naturally casual. “I see you’ve met my boyfriend . . . Violet; I hope yer treating him like the lady HE is?” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Artem was a superb actor, slipping his dominant left talon out of it’s nest in his aviator jacket and using that Turian reach to catch the the poor sap around the WAIST tugging the other close to his chest, positioning his body wisely between him and the petty criminal. The whole exchange meant to have the Batarian believing they were intimate partners; instead of complete strangers.
The shit he did for friends (loosely speaking, on the term “friends”); not that Grell would appreciate his risk.
Nuzzling his grease spot nose into the other’s defined mandible, Artem rumbled out a purr of phoney affection utilising the vibration to disguise a hushed whisper, “Roll with it, trust me.”

@crassussativum
They’d skirted the range of the EMP Mav had built, activating it, on their way to the pizza place they’d started to favor. The only sign it was working was the way a light in a window blinked and went out, leaving the building in darkness. So Dius and Mav had continued on to grab some food. Which was just as good as they remembered.
Right now the plate was half empty and they were a few beers into the evening. “So the call comes through right?” Dius was telling him about one of his and his units’ former missions gone wrong. They’d started out the evening as their roles, but as the time went on, alcohol consumed, and the pizza place kept being half empty of guests, the masks had slipped and now it was anyone’s guess who they were. “And remember, I’m hanging outside along the wall of this building, twenty-five stories from the ground, to get to this signal. Harness digging in. Cars going by just a couple of arm-lengths behind my back. And I’m trying to blend in and not be spotted by any of them. Sure it’s dark, but if a headlight caught me just right...? Yeah. And I’m thinking, pull me up already? What’s taking so long?” he chuckled, running a hand the length of his fringe.

Tavi was bored.
Now that happened sometimes but most of the time he could find something to do like bother Crassus for sex, but most of the time he wasn’t feeling halfway to dead.
Sprawling out on his back and letting out the most pathetic cough of his life, he started very quietly whining.

crassussativum:
He smoothed his hand over the part of Dius he’d poked and mouthed a sorry to him, halfway to sitting up. But Spirits, their legs were tangled together under that blanket and he just gave up as Lina’s face greeted him over omnitool. “Hey?” He trilled. “Good mornin’?”
Dius tried to shuffle away enough to not be in frame, but there really wasn’t any space on the small bed. Somehow their legs were stuck together, or maybe it was the covers that had tied around them, he didn’t know.
“Morning. Oh. Wow. This is early? I’m so sorry?” Lina said as she saw Linnaeus’ tired face and something that must be a bed behind him.
“It’s- wow- really early,” Linnaeus gave a chirpy laugh. “But we had a late night. A really late night, don’t worry. What’s up?”

(Hi! First I wanna say that I've absolutely loved OC-Tober and it's given me so much to do and character development and I've loved it. I don't want it to end. I know that November is National Novel Writing Month but honestly, I'm not ready to tackle writing a novel. Are there other places I can find single word prompts? Other similar activities for the month I can take part in?
I like this prompt list by Think Written! Not really single word prompts, but they’re open ended enough to be what I think you might be looking for. Basically every year, they release a list of creative writing prompts for each day of the year. I personally always have it bookmarked when I wanna break out of some writer’s block or just want some practice.
Alternatively, just search “word of the day” and take your pick lmao. Pretty much any dictionary site will have one, so you can choose whichever one speaks to you!
(Also, I’m glad you’re finding OCtober useful!)

December 2020 OC Prompts
5. Locate
Terasu flicked the switch on her datapad. The blue light from the screen illuminating the cockpit ceiling. She thumbed through the entries in her notes before stopping at one.
“Here we are.”
Dinena jabbed her lightly in the ribs, a smile on her face.
“I know, I just told you.”
The Pantoran pulled a good humoured face at her in return.
“Oh ha ha. Look.”
She lent over, holding the datapad between them. In her notes she had coordinates to the location they were here to find. There was also a picture of a flower along with notes for its care that her contact had provided her with. Or at least, that they had managed to acquire from local sources. How well it would survive on a spaceship under artificial lightning remained to be seen.
“Isn’t she a beauty?”
Terasu gushed, pulling the datapad back to look at the picture again.
“Yes.”
Dinena responded, though she was looking at her companion rather than the datapad. She turned her attention back to the ship’s controls. Inputting the coordinates into the navicomp. A few switches flicked as they entered the planet’s upper atmosphere and she cruised their home down towards the surface.
Slipping back down towards the galley, Terasu gathered her gear together. When Dinena came to see her off she had changed out of her comfortable, light clothes into those more suited for a trek through an unknown wilderness.
“You’ve got your blaster with you? And your comms?”
Terasu patted her holster on her hip, and nodded.
“Yup. Though Jarel said they’re fairly common around here, I shouldn’t expect I’ll need to go far.”
“Just... be safe, ok? I’m right here if you need me.”
With a light kiss on the cheek, Terasu headed for the ramp and the planet’s surface. The air was breathable, though a little dank. She looked down as her boots sunk into the peaty swamp. Just like home, she thought to herself, as she tramped off through the trees in search of her prize.
