Heya Can I please uh Get a sett x vastaya reader Scenario where she comes to his pit to fight because she needs money to help her tribe get rebuilt?
Ok so first of all thanks for the request and sorry for a very very late post and second if you're like referring to rebuilding houses in a tribe you actually can't cuz vastayan people live harmony with nature so that means no cutting trees and you get your needs from nature....... but I'll think of something like a money crisis or something.
Yeah sorry.........again.
•=•=•=•=•=•
SETT X VASTAYAN READER
For many years, your people live in peace. away from the dangers of the outside world but that doesn't mean you were selfish and un-kind, instead they used magic not for fighting but to offer help to other vastayan, they would take refugees, heal them, and take care of other Vastayans that were scarred by the war.
Decades past many happened in Ionia but being seculded in the hidden forest in the land, generations of your tribe have forgotten what's the outside world like and believe that it's only a myth.
Then an unexpecting day came. Since your tribe offers help more and more Vastayans seek their hand for help and that cause a problem.
A big problem.
There was too much population and your home became overcrowded after a new tribe came, said they were attack overnight and barely survived, it was no problem in sharing and rationing your supplies but nature had given too much.
Being the Chief's eldest daughter you volunteered to search outside your hidden home to find a way to help them.
So with a heavy heart your family and people bid you good luck and safe travel.
Days past you discovered many things and places, you found different kinds of Vastayans, good and also bad people.
One day you came to a Forest market you ask many people but some spoke in a strange language while some walked away from you until you meet this cute Vastayan couple named Rakan and Xayah, you were surprised that they can speak (mainly Xayah) using the old Vastayan Language.
From Xayah's stories she is looking for her lost tribe and planned on making a rebellion or something? While Rakan only follow and support his lover.
You told them about your problem and they suggested that you go far towards the main city, you took the suggestion and thank them for their help, bidding them good bye you turned into leave but not before Xayah called you back.
"Hey not being a bother or anything but you said there was a new tribe that came to yours right?, Is there perhaps a man-." She then continued to explain a man who she claim her father and ask if he was in the same tribe, shaking your head you said that you haven't see anyone that look like her father.
"Don't worry Xayah I'm positive they're out there somewhere and you'll find them I believe in you, just don't lose hope ok?". You re-assured her as she thanked you.
"Here Y/N don't forget to hide does ears and tail of yours, they're a dead give away." She held out a dark cloak made from a smooth Ionian silk, after that you waved them goodbye.
"Good luck and don't get yourself killed kid!! See ya, Hey Xayah wait for meeeeee!!!." Rakan shouted before chasing after his beloved.
"You do know I'm quite older than you right?." You asked him well more to yourself before shrugging it off and beginning your journey towards the city in Ionia.
It took a whole day getting there making you arrived at night. you then wore the cloak Xayah gave you and blend in with the crowd, it was similar as back in the Forest market but instead of Vastayan or shape-shifters that was walking around it was full on strange creatures that you believe were humans like the elders told in their stories and unlike back home with of trees and nature instead it was this weird tall structures and no Vastayan in sight.
then your ears hear this wired clinking of metal that you decided to investigate, looking around you found the source and saw a human passing three of those round gold things in exchange for a fruit then you saw another and another.
It was some kind of currency just like yours but a little different.
You then followed a big human man that was carrying a huge sack of those while being vigilant, you then came across a much more big architecture with a lot of suspicious people entering inside.
Moving forward, you see the man you followed giving it towards a round hat wearing man and seeing that some were doing it too.
You perk up along with other people when you hear a feminine voice at the passageway then people run towards the voice being unlucky you got shove in, you tried squeezing your body in the crowd, few tries you finally reach the end but loss you footing, you catch yourself by slamming your hand in a flat wooden furniture.
startled the man and the woman who you believe was yelling looked at you with widen eyes they talked to you in a much more different language, you look at them dumbfounded before shrugging you shoulders.
The woman rolled her eyes before grabbing a hold of your right arm and pulled you, being curious you let her.
Walking deep inside you tried talking to her but she didn't payed you attention, a short walk you were then push towards an opening.
You stumbled before getting blinded by a golden light you raised an arm to cover your face, turning back you looked and see the woman on the tunnel motioning you to walk, looking behind you see a stone platform.
"Huh?." you pipe up looking back at her, you point yourself and then towards the platform.
She nod her head yes then showing you her thumbs pointing upwards before turning around and walked back, you look down at you hands and trying to copy what she did while walking towards the platform.
( ՞ਊ ՞)→ Sett's POV :
Another night with a line people that aren't strong enough to beat me.
"Welp who can say no to money anyway?." I chuckled cracking my knuckles and do small stretching.
I look below on the balcony to see a cloaked figure walking in the middle of the pit, I see their attention in their hands.
You're fighting me and you're already scared?, pathetic.
I scoff before walking back and down towards the pit.
A few seconds later I walked out and face them.
"Hey! you're the first contender?, Guess this will be an easy win." I stare at my clenched fist after wearing my golden brass knuckles.
Smirking I turned my head but to my surprise they we're still busy with the hands.
"Oi!, Are ya' listening to me or you're deaf?." I shouted by now the people were listening to me watching in interest.
I growled, losing my patience I stomp towards them right arm pulled back.
"I said are ya' deaf or stupid?." Reaching them I throw my right straight to there face. before my knuckles can touch there face they simply blocked it with their palm.
They looked up making me see their- I mean her face, she looked at me with her E/C colored eyes before glaring at me, She jumped back looking at her palm then back to me.
"Heh, good to have your attention. Now can you fight?." I punch my hand to my palm smirking, she tilted her head then she move to take off her cloak.
Once the clothing was off my widen when I see a pair of ears on top of her head like mine with a long thick fur tail swishing behind her.
"Vastayan?." I growled "then I guess I'll be lying when I say this won't hurt." I then charge at her.
We both begin to fight I keep punching her but she dodges fast while we were does this she keep talking in a weird ass language I can't understand.
She then growled in annoyance before tackling me with a surprising strength, strandling me she clunch the neckline of my clothes and smash her lips on mine.
I stared with wide eyes at her. the kiss didn't last long she quickly stood up and talk finally in a language I can understand.
"Sorry I had to do that it was the fastest way I can learn you language." She apologize before holding out her hand at me.
"Here let me help you." She said I grab it and she pulled me up without breaking a sweat.
•=•=•=•=•=•
"So your telling me? You came from your invisible home-."
"Hidden actually-."
"To find what exactly?." I asked feeling a tick mark growing in my forehead still feeling a little embarrassed from the kiss earlier.
"Something to help them like finding extra supplies using that." She pointed behind me and I turned my hand and see the money we collected from different bets.
"Ya want Noxian money?." I questioned
"If that's what you call it yes." She said without hesitation.
"Ha! Look girly I ain't a charity work I own that money and I'm not just about to give that to some Vastayan tribe, they can starve for all I care." I puff out my chest laughing at her.
"Fine then I'll do anything you want but in exchange I need a few sack of those what about that?." She growled not liking what I just said about her tribe.
"Hmm, guess I can't let a good deal like that fly away then exchange for maybe 5 of those you have to fight in my pit for a whole month, deal?." I hold out my hand.
"I do not know how long this month you are talking about but sounds delightful to me, sure!." She grab my hand tightly and shook it with great force.
"Ok! Ok! Stop it." I snatch my hand away shaking off some off the pain from her grip.
How is she so strong?!
"Be here tomorrow early in the morning then we'll talk business." I turned around walking away from her, but few steps away I can hear someone following me.
I look over my shoulder and see her behind me.
"Why are you following me?." I asked gritting my teeth.
"Well since we made a deal it's a tradition to follow the dealer for a better end of-". I cut her off.
"You don't have a place to sleep do you?."
"Yes! Can I sleep with you?". She didn't even feel ashamed of herself.
"OH FOR THE LOVE OF-!".

Deep in the Heart of Texas - One
Tumblr media
a/n: So, because I have zero self control, I went and wrote the first chapter of the ToG southern AU I was talking about. I did this instead of doing online school, so I’d appreciate some feedback! I’ll probably continue this, but you know, support is nice. I think it’s also important to note that Aelin would absolutely rock a southern accent. So would Aedion. It would be so hot. Just... imagine it.
Summary: Aelin Galathynius is ready for the best summer of her life. She’s home from college for the summer, and so are all of her friends. Even her cousin is on a break from the military. Everything is set up to be perfect. Until... her mother decides to let the son of an old family friend stay with them while he grieves the loss of a loved one. And Aelin is not going to let a party pooper ruin her summer.
Rowan Whitethorn has just suffered the biggest loss of his life: the death of his long-time girlfriend, Lyria. His family is sick of him moping around his tiny New York apartment, so they ship him down south for the summer. The last thing Rowan wants is to spend his vacation in Nowhereville, Texas, but he has little choice. Not to mention, the only people his age seem to hate him. How on earth is he going to survive 3 months of this?
Aelin Ashryver Galathynius is living the high life. She’s sitting in a chair outside in her backyard, beer in one hand, barbeque in the other. Her dog, Fleetfoot, is perched at her feet, just waiting for some scraps.
“So, little cuz,” Aedion says, sitting beside her. He reaches over to grab one of the ribs from her plate, but Aelin quickly slaps him away. “How was your junior year at A&M?”
“Pretty good.” Aelin concedes. She finishes off the rib she was eating and passes the bone to Fleetfoot, who immediately jumps to gnaw on it.
“How about you two?” Aedion addresses Aelin’s best friends and roommates, Lysandra and Elide.
“At least you two only have one more year.” Lysandra groans. “Next year I have to focus on getting into vet school.”
“You’ll make it, Lys.” Aelin assures her. “You’re the smartest person I know.”
“I still have to get into medical school.” Yrene sighs from her own seat. “And Nehemia, you’ve got to get into law school.” Their other friend nods and rolls her eyes.
“And this is why I’m just getting a business degree.” Aelin chuckles. “Four years and I’m out.”
It’s so good to see her friends again. They’ve known each other since high school, but only Lys and Elide stayed back home in Texas for school. Nehemia got accepted into Harvard, which they all saw coming. Yrene managed to get herself all the way up to Washington State. As for Ansel and Nesryn, they moved out too, scholarships taking them far, far away.
Aelin missed her friends. It’s so good to have them back. And Aedion, too. By some miracle or another, he’s managed to have a break over the summer. His next deployment isn’t until September.
When Aelin pulls herself from her thoughts, her plate of ribs is noticeably smaller. And her cousin has the tell-tale stain of barbeque sauce on his chin.
“You prick.” Aelin sighs.
“You weren’t eating them!” Aedion laughs. “I’m not letting good barbeque go to waste.”
Aelin, being the mature adult she is, just sticks her tongue out at her cousin until he laughs so hard he chokes. She stands up and takes her plate, smacking him on the back as she does. Aedion just glares.
“I need more food. Any of y’all coming with?” Nehemia and Yrene take their plates and follow Aelin up to the long table where the food is being served.
Aelin’s parents are sitting in camp chairs nearby, laughing. Evalin has a margarita in hand, while Rhoe’s got a beer. When they approach, suddenly all three girls find themselves pulled into a conversation.
“Are y’all having fun?” Evalin asks, smiling.
“Definitely.” Nehemia laughs, ever the polite one. “Thank you so much for inviting us, Mrs. Galathynius.”
“Oh, of course.” Evalin gushes. “I couldn’t just throw a welcome home party for my daughter without inviting all her friends, now could I?”
Aelin attempts to shrug off her mother, but it’s no use. Evalin Galathynius has perfected her Southern charm, and of course Nehemia and Yrene are defenseless against it.
So her friends and mother chat, about life, college, relationships. Evalin even gets Yrene to confess she’s been keeping a long-distance boyfriend, and Aelin is pissed that her friend didn’t tell her first.
But she gets more food; barbeque, mostly, but she heaps some beans and a roll on as well.
“Save some room for banana pudding!” Her mother warns.
“Mom, I will always have room for banana pudding.” Aelin grins. Finally realizing that they don’t have any food on their plate, Nehemia and Yrene pull themselves away and pile their plates high.
By the time they get back to their group of chairs, Aedion has managed to down two whole beers. Ansel and Lysandra are arguing, (or flirting, Aelin can never tell), and Elide is scratching Fleetfoot’s ears as the dog chews on another rib bone.
“Mom’s bringing out the desserts soon.” Aelin alerts her friends. Lys perks up at her words, glancing back towards the house, where all the food is.
“Please tell me she made banana pudding.” Elide groans. “I haven’t eaten it in like, years. Your mom always made the best.”
“Okay, but your mom makes really good butter cake.” Aelin laughs. “I mean, it’s got enough fat to give you diabetes with one slice, but that’s a problem for another day.”
“Mom didn’t make any for the party, though.” Elide pouts.
Before Aelin can respond, three kids crash into their circle, laughing wildly. It’s Evangeline, Lysandra’s little sister, along with Hollin and Terrin, the younger brothers of Dorian and Chaol. Who, for the record, Aelin didn’t know were invited.
“Sorry!” Evie chirps. She stands up again and runs off, the younger boys chasing after her. Fleetfoot, done with her bone, jumps up and dashes after them with a bark.
Lys just rolls her eyes. “Kids.”
Beside her, Nesryn nods in agreement. “Kids.” Aelin spots Nesryn’s older sister, Delara, with the rest of her very large family. Delara has a baby on her hip, while the other three helions run circles around their mother’s feet. Nesryn’s younger cousins soon join in, creating a whirlwind of small children. Aelin has to look away; they’re making her dizzy.
This time Nehemia joins in, a huff of laughter on her lips. “Kids.” She points to her two little brothers, antagonizing Rhoe Galathynius by the house, likely begging for dessert to come out sooner.
“Well, as nice as this is, I don’t have any siblings, so I cannot relate. Sorry to burst your bubble.” Aelin’s comment gets a laugh from all around their circle, and soon everyone is back to eating food.
“Look! The pudding’s out!” Aedion shouts, and all the college-aged kids drop everything and sprint to the house, shoving each other out of the way. Nobody is getting between Aelin and her banana pudding.
“Hey! Slow your roll!” Evalin scolds. “There’s enough pudding for everyone. As long as you only take a small scoop. Aedion, I’m talking to you.” She fixes her nephew with a stare, and Aedion winces.
“Yes ma’am.” They all chorus. Satisfied with their manners, Evalin serves them all dessert.
She’s in the middle of scooping out Aelin’s portion when Rhoe appears, holding her phone. “Honey, someone’s calling.”
“I know how to use a phone, Rhoe.” Evalin sighs. She scoops Aelin a little bit more pudding and then takes her phone, letting her husband go on dessert-serving duty.
Aelin links arms with Elide, the two of them grinning madly before plopping down right there, next to the dessert, digging in with their spoons.
The rest of their friends are soon to follow, and Aelin doesn’t miss how Lysandra chooses to sit a little bit closer to Aedion than is probably socially acceptable.
She chooses to ignore it, however, and instead focuses on interrogating Yrene.
“How long have you had a secret boyfriend for?” She demands.
“When I came home for Christmas.” Yrene laughs. “We went to the Havilliards’ party and I met him there.
The Havilliards, some of the most prominent people in their little cluster of small towns, have a reputation to battle even the Galathyniuses. And the Ytgers, for that matter. Their parties attract attention from all over, which was how Aelin’s friend group met each other.
Aelin and Elide had grown up practically as sisters, though Elide lived one school district over, in the neighboring town of Perranth. Orynth was the largest city in their area of South Texas, holding a whopping 10,000 people.
That was whopping to Aelin, at least. Elide’s town, Perranth, had around 8,000, with Rifthold nearby being 9,000. All the other towns that their friends lived in had even less than that, the smallest being Caraverre, Lysandra’s town, with barely 1,000 people.
The Havilliards, being the socialites of tiny Rifthold, have parties all the damn time. They even let their eldest son, Dorian, host wild gatherings of drunken teenagers.
Aelin and Elide, barely seventeen, had managed to sneak into one of these elusive parties. They’d met Lys, Nesryn, Ansel, Nehemia, and Yrene, although the last girl was only there because her friends dragged her there and then abandoned her. Some friends, they were.
“Okay, that doesn’t give us any clue as to who he is.” Lys points out, pointing her spoon at Yrene. “Everyone and their cousin goes to the Havilliards’ parties.”
“Chaol Westfall.” Yrene giggles. Aelin nearly spits out her banana pudding.
“Him?!” She yelps. Yrene’s laughter turns hysterical.
“Yes! Chaol Westfall is my boyfriend.”
“He’s here, though.” Ansel adds. “Why aren’t you over there with him?”
“Because I missed y’all.” Yrene says. “I haven’t seen y’all since summer last year. None of you came home for Christmas.”
“Too busy.” Aelin, Elide, and Lysandra say in unison. Yrene rolls her eyes.
Other people come for dessert, and Aelin scoots away as one of Nesryn’s nieces tries to peek over her shoulder. Delara scolds her and drags her away, and the whole group bursts into laughter.
Aelin looks up, seeing her father still serving. That’s strange, where is Evalin?
She sees her mother, standing on the porch of the house, hand over her mouth. Something’s wrong. Evalin’s porcelain face is ashen, the color drained from her cheeks. Aelin thinks she can see tears.
Before anyone can ask what she’s looking at, Aelin’s jumping up and rushing to her mother, bounding up the steps two at a time. She nearly crashes into her uncle’s rocking chair, but stops at the last second. Evalin hardly looks up.
“Of course. Of course he can stay here. For as long as he needs. Yes, please, send him my love. I’m so sorry.” Aelin catches Evalin’s eye, who holds up a finger, gesturing for her to wait.
When she finally hangs up, she just lets out a long sigh, putting the phone on the porch railing.
“Do you remember the Whitethorns, Aelin?”
The question catches her off guard, but Aelin nods, anyway. “I do. Sellene and Enda, mostly. And… there was another one, right?”
Evalin just hangs her head. “Yes. Rowan, that’s the other one. Poor boy, his girlfriend just died in a car accident.”
Now it’s Aelin’s turn to put her hands to her mouth. “Oh Lord.” She hardly remembers the Whitethorns, just that she met them a few times when she was young. She remembers that Enda and Sellene were nice and would play with her, while Rowan hung back, always saying mean things to her. She remembers Aedion beating him up one time, too.
Still, just because he was rude to five-year-old Aelin doesn’t mean he deserved this tragedy.
“If you call Mrs. Whitethorn again, please tell her I’m so sorry for their loss.” Poor Rowan.
“Well, here’s the thing, Aelin.” At Evalin’s tone of voice, Aelin knows she’s about to say something she won’t like. “Mrs. Whitethorn is very worried for him. They’re so busy up there, you know, they don’t always have time to check in on him. So… she asked if we would let Rowan stay down here for a bit.”
“Mama!” Aelin sighs. “I feel bad for the guy, but that doesn’t mean he has to come and live with us! All of my friends are down here! I don’t want him ruining my summer vacation.”
“Don’t you start sassin’ me, young lady.” Evalin snaps, her accent coming out in full force. “How can you be so heartless? Rowan is grieving.”
Aelin feels like a kid again, getting sent to her room for giving her mother attitude. So she relents before she gets embarrassed in front of the entire town of Orynth. And then some.
But she’s in a pissy mood, now. Of course she feels bad for him, but not that bad. Not bad enough to let him stay in her house over the summer. For all she knows, Aedion could be deployed all next summer. Lysandra might not be able to come home, being to busy getting ready for vet school. This could very well be their last summer together.
And Aelin Galathynius will not let Rowan Whitethorn ruin her summer.
~~~~
Rowan Whitethorn steps out of the Uber, taking in the sight of the small town. He’s flown into Houston, Texas from Doranelle, New York, and it’s cost him a stupid amount of money to get a car to take him all the way down here. They don’t even have taxis in this god-forsaken state.
Though, to be fair, it’s partially his own fault. His flight had gotten moved up, and he’d forgotten to text Evalin Galathynius the new time after she insisted she’d pick him up from the airport.
As the Uber pulls away, Rowan takes a long minute to glance around. He’d seen the sign as they’d driven in, had nearly felt his eyes bulge out of his head when he saw ‘Population: 10,000’.
He fingers the strap of his backpack, taking in the scenery. He’s in what must be a public park, but why anyone is outside is beyond him. It is so fucking hot outside.
However, the park is full. A pair of mothers with strollers, chatting as they walk along the park trail. Kids play on a playground in the distance. And a couple, seated at one of the picnic tables, have their hands clasped.
Rowan looks away at that.
There wasn’t any place he could go, or that his parents could ship him off to, where he could just forget about Lyria. She’d been the love of his life. When he had a bit more money saved up he was going to ask her to marry him. He wanted to start a family with her.
And it seems like she haunts him, because no matter where he looks there is something that reminds him of her.
Rowan sighs deeply, starting to walk. He needs to be away from this place, with so many… people. And he needs to get inside somewhere, away from the oppressive heat. How anybody manages to live in this weather is beyond him, being born and raised in New York.
He observes the town as he walks, taking in the architecture, the style. It looks fairly modern, save for the houses. The houses all look like miniature versions of that house from Gone with the Wind. The movie, of course. He didn’t bother to pick up the book.
This tiny town seems as if it’s been permanently frozen in time… in the Civil War era.
Rowan goes back to walking, searching for a store or something where he can step inside for a minute, pull out his phone, and turn on Google Maps. However, as he approaches the little chain of shops, he’s stopped by a slightly older woman.
“Are you visiting someone, dear?” She asks, smiling broadly.
“Uh, yeah.” He replies awkwardly. Why is she talking to him? Back in New York, it’s pretty much every man for himself. You find your own way or you don’t. Nobody ever offers help.
“Where are you headed?” She’s still smiling, and that puts Rowan on edge.
“Um, I’m looking for… Evalin Galathynius? Do you know her?”
The woman’s face lights up. “Oh, yes, I know her. You’re gonna want to walk down that street right there, then take a left at the blue house, keep going until you reach the small park, then-”
Rowan doesn’t know what to say. Her instructions drone on, and he just can’t pay attention that long. He’ll just take out his phone when the lady leaves.
“You got all that, sweetie?” Rowan jolts back to the present.
“Yeah, thanks.” She smiles, and keeps walking. Rowan lets out a sigh, and pulls out his phone, plugging in the address to Google Maps.
Fifteen minutes of walking. Rowan looks up, at the sun beating down on him. This is going to suck, isn’t it?
~~~~
Rowan holds a scowl as he finally makes it to the Galathynius house. Carrying both a backpack and dragging along a suitcase in the sweltering Texas heat is not doing good things for him.
He’d also gotten lost multiple times, even with the help of Google Maps, meaning he’d nearly doubled his walking time. All he wants to do now is to go inside somewhere they have some goddamn air conditioning.
Rowan drags his suitcase up the porch steps, nearly panting. He’d sweated through his shirt, which had only added to the awful heat.
There isn’t a doorbell; or not one he can see, anyway, so he knocks on the front door, hard.
He hears a muffled “I’ll get it!” before the door swings open to reveal a young woman, golden hair tied up in a messy bun.
Her expression turns suddenly sour as she takes him in, her turquoise eyes glaring. “Are you Rowan?”
“Yeah.” He says. “Sorry I didn’t let you know, but my flight got pushed up.”
“That’s what I thought. You weren't supposed to get here until this evening.” She sighs and opens the door. “Come inside.”
Rowan does so gladly, smiling as the cool air kissed his sticky skin. “Is your mom home? You look too young to be Mrs. Galathynius.”
“My name is Aelin.” She says. She doesn’t offer her hand to shake, just keeps walking further inside. “Do you want me to show you your room?”
“Sure.” Rowan follows Aelin through the house, marvelling at how… large it is. And, he’d noticed as he’d approached, it was on a massive piece of land, as well.
Aelin walks quickly through the house, pointing out a few things like the kitchen, dining room, living room. They come upon a large staircase, and she bounds up them. Rowan sighs and goes to dragging his suitcase upstairs.
Aelin even has the audacity to look annoyed at him for being so slow. Rowan resists the urge to snap at her. He’s exhausted, and just wants to lay down somewhere and sleep.
Aelin leads him down a long hallway, and points to one of the doors. “That’s your room. And the bathroom’s right there.” She gestures to another door across the hall. “All the other rooms are occupied right now, so no snooping.”
Rowan doesn’t answer, just nods. Stepping inside the room, he can’t help but notice how big it is. Just like this entire house, it’s giant. He’s got a four-poster bed, plush carpet on the floor, a dresser, and a closet. It’s more luxurious than anything he’s ever had.
He doesn’t bother to unload his stuff. Sleep is pulling at him, making his eyes heavy. So he quickly pulls off his sweaty shirt and collapses on the bed, sinking into the mattress.
He’s gone quickly, but right before he falls asleep, one last thought materializes in his head.
Lyria would have loved it here.

PUPPET
Serena and Bonnie were out strolling through Coumarine City when Serena spotted an object in a store that caught her eye,it was a pikachu hand puppet,it kinda reminded her of Ash,she blushed at her random comment in her mind "Hey Bonnie,lets go in that store, i can buy you any puppet you want" Serena said gesturing to the small shop with a wide glass window displaying all the different pokemon puppets.
Upon hearing the honey blonde,Bonnie perked up in excitement of the thought of finally getting to bug something "Ok!" The lemon blonde exclaimed then glanced down at her dedene happily sitting inside her yellow bag "Im gonna get one that looks just like you dedene!" Bonnie said making Serena giggle from her behavior "Come on, i already see something i wanna buy" Serena said as she held onto Bonnie's hand as they walked across the pedestrian lane to the other side where the shop was built.
Once they stepped foot into the vintage looking store,greeted by the ringing of a bell from above them, The store was honestly empty and it felt like that Serena snd Bonnie was the only one in, Serena started to get anxious and thought it was another one of team rocket's tricks in trying to capture pikachu,but all those thoughts were in vain when she heard a warm elderly feminine voice coming from behind a shelf of old books,Bonnie was already admiring all the different puppets on display contemplating which one she should get, "Hello dear's is there anything i can help you with?" The elderly woman said slowly walking towards Serena with a frail smile on her face.
"Good afternoon maam!" Serena said with a smile on her face bowing politely for the older woman who laughed lightly "Good afternoon young one,what may i help you with in my humble store?" The lady said with a crumbling voice as she talked " Serena glanced at the puppets Bonnie was currently admiring  "Well im Serena and that girl over there is Bonnie, we were both wondering if those puppets on display are for sale?" Serena asked hoping it was "Why of course it is,if you dont mind, what is the reason you want to buy some hand made puppets dearie'?" The lady said tilting her head up a bit to face the girl.
Serena upon thought of why she wanted to buy that pikachu puppet blushed a bit "I Uh.." She muttered but to her surprised the woman infront of her merely laughed "I see,young love what a beautiful thing" The lady said with a smile, Serena was about to deny it but realizing she was speaking the truth she set that option aside.
"I remember when I sewed and knitted those puppets with my husband before..but now that his gone i didnt see a reason to keep them anymore" the elderly woman said halfheartedly making Serena feel bad and question herself whether or not she should still buy a puppet "Actually..i wont buy a puppet,it seems like it means alot to you and i would feel awful if i just take that away from you" Serena explained and in response the woman infront of her shook her head and smiled warmly "No..my husband and I believed that if a person whom experienced love and made or created an object showing it,sharing it to people with hopes to be together with their lovers forever will strengthen their bond aswell as the receivers bond with their lover aswell" The woman paused "Which one would you like?" The elderly woman asked.
The bell rang once more once the door was pulled open "Goodbye! And thank you so much!" Serena exclaimed waving a goodbye to the woman behind the counter who waved back, Bonnie beside her did the same whilst smiling.
Eventually the two young girls arrived back at coumarine pokemon center,Bonnie immediately ran up to her older brother who was tinkering with various devices and excitedly showed him her newly bought puppet of a dedene, Serena smiled at the sight,she then turned her head looking for a certain raven haired trainer, eventually she spotted Ash sitting down on a green cushioned couch by a window,petting his sleeping pikachu endlessly as he seemed to be staring into a void with a blank expression,sort of like he was thinking of something.
Serena sucked in a breath and took out her pikachu puppet and placed it on her hand and nervously walked towards the sitting trainer,who didnt seem to notice the nearing honey blonde.
Ash was just doing nothing really,he was just waiting for Serena aswell as Bonnie to return but over time he blanked out and began staring at a blank wall at the opposite side of the center, though he never noticed the honey blonde walking towards him.
That until he felt some sort of fabric gently pressed  against his cheek,surprised,he turned his head only to be greeted by a small pikachu puppet infront of him,aswell as the said girl he was waiting for, he didnt say anything since he was still processing the fact that the girl was mere meters away from him,blushing as red as a tamato berry.
"Im gonna become a pokemom master along with pikachu" the honey blonde said trying to imitate Ash's iconic line when introducing himself, her voice was raspy and sounded like the voice she used when she was battling Jimmy in Ash's clothing,again Ash remained silent but nonetheless felt warm in the cheeks as he continued to stare in awe in the girl before him.
Still blushing as red as ever "I-i found this at a store and figured it would be fun to-" The girl was cut off by Ash hastily turning away covering his burning face, audibly mumbling things like  "why is she so cute, oh  n o, she looks adorable,her imitating my voice is just, Arceus bless me with this amazing girl-" unfortunately for him the honey blonde behind him managed to catch all that "E-eh?!" The girl muttered in surprise her cheeks flaring up as she listened to his mumbling.
Ash hearing that Serena heard what he said only made him even more hot in face, "Ash?!Oh boy,Ash?" Serena panicked from behind him still blushing, as the two were having a small blushing crisis the two lumiose siblings in the near distance watched in confusion,Clemont especially "What are they.." He muttered but to his surprised Bonnie beside him shrugged and sighed "Oh big brother,smart as ever but still dense as a rock i guess" She said closing her eyes and smiled halfheartedly "Wha.. wait Bonnie?!" The boy gasped.
Meanwhile the Serena and Ash were still having a small problem with Ash being overwhelmed of the heart swelling sight before him as he continued shaming himself for letting Serena hear his thoughts,even though it was all through,his face still flushed, Serena behind him was still processing all the things Ash said about her face flushed aswell while the small electric mouse from beside Ash was woken up from the unwanted racket and simply watched the whole situation unfold.

[ 365 Days of SasuHina || Day Three Hundred Fifty-Three: Stacks ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata, Hyūga Neji, Hyūga Hiashi ] [ SasuHina, death ] [ Verse: Best Years of Your Life ] [ AO3 Link ]
What a heavy two weeks it’s been.
The passing of her aunt was undeniably difficult. Funeral arrangements - handled mostly by her cousin, and her father - at least ended with a beautiful if not sorrowful reflection of her life. And as much as the grief weighs on them, well...life goes on. They all have jobs, homes, and in some cases relationships to tend to. While Hotaru will never be forgotten...there’s still so much more to be remembered.
Hinata took the few days surrounding the funeral off from work to stay in the city, helping with arrangements and providing moral support for Neji. Thankfully her boss is rather understanding, giving her the days with her paid leave and offering more should something come up.
Two days after, Hinata’s arranged to return home, giving heartfelt goodbyes to her cousin, and even to her father and sister.
“...hopefully the next time I’m in town, things will be...lighter,” she offers softly, hands loosely clasped as she looks sorrowfully at them all. “D-don’t hesitate to call if you need me, or if something else comes up.”
“Thank you, Hinata. Having you here made a world of difference,” Neji replies, tone still weighed with grief.
“Of course...take care, Neji. Father, Hanabi.”
“We’ll be in touch,” Hiashi assures her before the group disbands.
Thankfully, by now, Hinata’s car is more than fixed. The demolished tire from her first day back to the city was easily replaced, and nothing else has gone wrong with the vehicle since.
...she also hasn’t contacted the man who gave her a lift into town.
Mostly, she just can’t wrap her head around a celebrity just so happening upon her in her hour of need, let alone being nice enough to give her a ride, listen to her grief, and give her his number in case she happened to need anything else.
In truth, well...nothing has come up to ask of him. Not that Hinata thinks she could bring herself to even if something did, but...well, she also lacks an excuse.
And now she’s heading home for what will likely be a long absence from her home city, and...she’s not sure when she’ll be back, let alone if she’ll ever have a reason or chance to run into Sasuke again. The two hour drive is typically only made for holidays or birthdays. Or...well, days like what brought her here this time around.
But before she makes the long trip back, Hinata decides to be ever so slightly self indulgent. While some parts of the city hold bittersweet (or just plain bitter) memories...one place she still finds comfort in is a diner along one of the slower streets. How it’s still standing with all of the remodels and buyouts around it, Hinata really isn’t sure...but she’s damn glad it’s still there.
Parking in the lot with a surprising amount of other cars, she steps out and locks her own, taking a moment to look the building over. It’s had a few touch-ups since she was a little girl - new paint, a bigger parking lot - but otherwise is the same place she can just barely remember coming to with her mother and father before Hanabi was born, and her mother lost.
Sighing softly, she adjusts her purse along her shoulder and walks in.
Immediately, the smells of good food fill her nose, and she can’t help a small smile and a happy hum. It’s been far too long since she let herself come here. Waiting to be taken to a table, she accepts a menu...but already knows what she’s here for.
...that’s when she pauses.
Digging out her phone, her fingers wriggle in indecision over the screen, hovering over Sasuke’s name. Surely he’s busy...it’s not like she can just ask him to stop what he’s doing and waste his time on her. Especially for something so...insignificant.
...and yet something tells her to try
Nibbling her lip, she quickly types up a message and hits send before she can chicken out.
...do you happen to be in the mood for pancakes?
Setting her phone down anxiously, she locks her hands to keep from fidgeting, eyes giving the mobile frequent glances. A minute passes...and then two...and then it buzzes!
Like she’s trying to grab a slippery fish, Hinata dives onto the phone, nearly letting it squirt out of her grip before reading the message.
As a matter of fact, I was just thinking about lunch. Where r u?
Staring dumbly at the reply, it takes her a long moment to process that he just agreed. Shaking away her shock, she gives him the name and address of the place.
Cool. C u in 10.
...did that really just happen?
A bit numb in shock, Hinata declines to order quite yet, instead asking for a mug of hot chocolate...complete with whip cream. Sipping it quietly once it arrives, she can’t help her eyes flicking to the door every few seconds.
When he walks in, she almost chokes.
Dark eyes roam over the place before spotting her, gesturing when the waitress comes to seat him. She, unlike Hinata’s first impression, clearly recognizes him, attempting to subtly gush over him as she takes him to Hinata’s table.
...her attitude cools, however, when she sees he’s moving to sit alone with a woman.
Shrinking a bit sheepishly at her scathing glance, Hinata watches her go before looking to Sasuke. “...I, um...I-I really didn’t think you’d...that you’d come.”
“You caught me at just the right time,” he affirms, giving his own menu a glance. “Just finished a photo shoot and I’m starving.”
“...oh! Well...good! Um...just about a-anything is good here.”
“You said something about pancakes?”
Oh...he remembers what she said? “Y...yeah. Um…” A nervous hand tucks hair behind her ear. “...I used to come here with my family when I was pretty little. After all of the...after the last few weeks, I just...wanted to come in again before I left.”
“Heading home?”
“Mhm...I’ve already missed several days of work.”
“Ah, right...architect, if I remember correctly…?”
“Yes. M-my boss is pretty nice, so...I’ve had more time than I r-really should have.”
“Glad they understood. And that I got to see you before you head back.”
Hinata can’t help but stiffen just a hair in surprise. He’s…? “M...me too. Sorry I didn’t, um...text you earlier. Busy, and...w-well, I didn’t want to interrupt.”
Sasuke snorts. “If I had something on, I’d just reply later. My brother has me well trained not to look at my phone when I shouldn’t.”
She stifles a small laugh. “Oh…?”
“Yeah...he’s a bit more polite than I am,” Sasuke replies, giving a hint of a grin. “Older brother syndrome: forever my babysitter.”
“M-my cousin is the same way with me…”
It’s then the waitress returns, asking for their orders. Hinata gets her desired pancakes topped with strawberry jam, and Sasuke does the same, holding on the jam and getting only butter.
“Not a fan of sweets,” he explains at her look once the server leaves.
“W-what?! But...that’s not possible. Sweets are so good!”
He shrugs, clearly amused. “I think my brother got all the sweet teeth. He’d be right there with you. I’m just more of a salty or savory guy.”
“Then w-why did you get pancakes…? There’s other things to order.”
“Well, I wanted to see what the fuss was about.”
In spite of herself, Hinata goes a light shade of pink.
Eventually, two rather impressive stacks of pancakes arrive: one with jam, the other slathered in butter. Hinata has to pause. Has this dish always come with so many…? Can she even eat them all?
“Smells awesome,” Sasuke admits, breaking her from her surprise.
“...they are! They’re p-perfectly light and fluffy,” she replies, eagerness returning at his enthusiasm. Taking up her own utensils, she takes a bite as he does, forgetting herself for a moment and humming in satisfaction.
Just as heavenly as she remembers.
Across from her, Sasuke chews thoughtfully for a moment before swallowing. “...I will admit, I’m not really a pancake guy...but these are damn good.”
Mouth still full, Hinata simply brightens in response, then going pink as she realizes she looks like a bit of a chipmunk, cheeks full of pancake.
As she sheepishly ducks to chew, Sasuke just chuckles.
They pass the time with idle conversation: Sasuke does most of the talking, offering bits of his schedule the past few weeks. As expected, he’s been busy.
“Since our last film came out, we’ve been promoting it like crazy. It’s done pretty well, so they want to milk it for all its worth. Hence the shoot this morning.”
“I see...I don’t really s-see many movies, but I’ll have to go watch it!”
“You don’t have to just cuz I’m in it. Only if you’re actually interested.”
“I am!”
Head leaned in a hand as he watches her struggle to finish her last pancake, Sasuke seems to quietly study her. “...m’glad you texted me. I talk to a lot of people, but...it’s a lot easier to talk to you than any of them.”
She pauses mid bite, blinking. “...really?”
“Yeah. You’re just so...normal.” His brow perks as she snorts. “...what?”
“...I-I don’t know about normal…”
“Well, compared to a lot of the kooks I end up around most days. You just...talk. And listen. Everyone else just wants to be heard, wants to be right, wants something from me. It’s exhausting.”
Brow wilting, Hinata isn’t sure how to respond. “...it c-certainly sounds tiring...I’m sorry.”
“Eh...it comes with the job. Still...it’s nice to have a break. So thanks. I needed this more than you know. But by the sounds of it, you don’t head this way too often, do you?”
At that, she grimaces a bit in guilt. “Well...no, n-not really. Four hours round trip is just...rough. And, um...m-my family is rather busy, so I don’t see them much. But...maybe I could -?”
“Don’t make arrangements just on my behalf,” he cuts in, waving a hand. “That’s not fair.”
“But -?”
“It’s fine. If you have other reasons to turn up, let me know, and I’ll make it work. But don’t go out on a limb just for my sake. I’ll survive. Besides, we’ve broken the texting ice. That’ll be nice on its own.”
“Well...a-all right.”
He affords her a small smile before glancing to her plate, half a pancake still left. “...give up?”
After a confused pause, she laughs. “Yeah...I don’t remember it being that much food.”
Before she can object, he sneaks his fork over, snagging a cut but untouched bite and chomping it.
Hinata just...blinks.
“...hm...not too bad,” he offers nonchalantly, setting down the utensil. “Still too sweet, though.”
She doesn’t have a reply, taken aback.
“Well...I better get back to it. And you probably want to get home.”
“O-oh, um...yeah.”
“Hey, text me when you get back, all right? Just in case I have to go rescue you again.”
“...oh! Um...a-all right. I’ll...I’ll do that.”
The pair head out, Hinata ignoring the squinting glare from the waitress as she finds her car. “Well...guess I’ll talk to you later.”
“Yeah, for sure. Drive safe, Hinata.”
“Y-you too!” Slipping into her seat, Hinata revs the engine before carefully navigating the lot, winding through town and onto the highway.
Belly full of pancakes and mind full of thoughts, she prepares for the long drive home.
                                                           .oOo.
     (This is a sequel to day 352!)      A very quick turn around from yesterday's prompt! Partly because this actually fit and came to me quickly, but also because a reader asked for a follow up, and...I thought I'd go ahead and do that!      Hinata seems to be making a new friend! Nothing quite like bonding over pancakes, lol - Sasuke appears to appreciate her simplicity. I'm sure they're going to remain in touch ;3      Anywho, I gotta head to bed, so that's all from me. Thanks for reading!

Bajillion Questions Meme
I see you, @littleblue-eyedbird trying to find out all my secrets and critical hit points. I’m literally the most boring person in the world and it’s so sweet of you to keep tagging me, omg.
Rules: Answer all questions, add one question of your own and tag as many people as there are questions! 1. Coke or Pepsi: Both? Both. 2. Disney or DreamWorks: My friends...it embarrasses me to admit this, but I haven’t seen an animated movie that wasn’t anime in years. I just don’t even know. 3. Coffee or Tea: BOTH! Mainly tea, though. 4. Books or Movies: Books! 5. Windows or Mac: Windows. 6. DC or Marvel: DC. I never really had a chance to get into Marvel. 7. Xbox or Playstation: OKAY. So, here’s the thing...I hate both Sony and Microsoft. But I actually like both of those consoles? I tend to favor Xbox, though, cuz it has 99% of my favorite games on it. 8. Dragon Age or Mass Effect: Dragon Age 9. Night Owl or Early Rise: Night owl. Please don’t attempt to wake me, apparently I argue with people in my sleep. 10. Cards or Chess: Both? Maybe more cards than chess. 11. Chocolate or Vanilla: Chocolate 12. Vans or Converse: I wear combat boots everywhere...but both are nice. I think I have a couple pairs of Batman-themed Converse that I’m saving for an appropriate occasion. 13. Lavellan, Trevelyan, Cadash or Adaar: Lavellan 14. Fluff or Angst: BOTH AT THE SAME TIME Why can’t I write fluff??? -sobs- 16. Dogs or Cats: Better question is why choose? Why not cuddle both and sneeze from twice as many allergies? 17. Clear Skies or Rain: Rain. Thunderstorms scared me for years, but they’re pretty common here (if we get a storm, that is) so now I’m just like “yes, good, more rain please”. 18.Cooking or Eating Out: Depends on how lazy/inspired I am. Also how broke I am. 19. Spicy Food or Mild Food: SPICY 20. Halloween/Samhain or Solstice/Yule/Chirstmas: Halloween/Samhain all year round! 21. Would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot: I get sick from everything heat really easily, so I’d honestly rather be too cold. Can always put on another sweater. 22. If you could have a superpower, what would it be: Something that would let me borrow other people’s powers, even if they were dormant, just so I could try them all. 23. Animation or Live Action: Depends on the show/movie. Both have their perks. 24. Paragon or Renegade: I’ve never played Mass Effect. =( But, judging by how I play through other games, Paragon 25. Baths or Showers: Baths. If I never had to get out, I’d be perfectly fine with that as long as the water stayed warm. 26. Team Cap or Team Iron Man: Neither? Guy who plays Stark is pretty hot, though. 27. Fantasy or Sci-fi: Both? 28. Do you have three or four favorite quotes? If so, what are they?
“We're all gonna die. The only question is when. This is as good a place as any to take your first steps to heaven. The only question is how you check out. Do you want it on your feet, or on your fucking knees... begging?! I ain't much for begging! Nobody ever gave me nothing! So I say fuck that thing! Let's fight it!” - Dillon, Alien 3
“Some grief is too great, even Death may keep it’s distance.“ - Theresa, Fable II
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.” - H.P. Lovecraft
Not a quote, but I want to quote a specific bit from Dorian Gray and it’s too long. OTL (Maybe if someone actually wants to read it, I’ll post it?) Also wanna quote Edgar Allan Poe and Charles Baudelaire, but there’s too many options, so just know my fourth quote would have been something from those.
29. YouTube or Netflix: Both are nice, though YouTube is somewhat less so. 30. Harry Potter or Percy Jackson: Harry Potter 31. When Do You Feel Accomplished: When I actually get something finished. The other day I completed my third long fic and am still having happy “I did something” feels. Also when I get reviews. 32. Star Wars or Star Trek: BOTH 33. Paperback Books or Hardback Books: Hmm...I like hardback books, but paperbacks are nice, too 34. Handwriting or Typing: Depends on what I’m writing, tbh. 35. Velvet or Satin: ...what is the fabric for, because that’s really gonna change my answer here. 36. Video Games or Movies: Video games. 37. Would you rather be the dragon or own the dragon: Why can’t I be a dragon that owns a dragon? 38. Sunrise or Sunset: Both <3 39. What’s your favorite song: Why are you tormenting me like this? Why make me choose? (I have been pretty obsessed with Prismo’s Neverland lately, though. Also Vancouver Sleep Clinic’s Stakes.) 40. Horror Movies, yes or no: I wanna say yes, but I also want to sleep when I can. 41. Long or Short Hair: Long 42. Opera or Theatre: Theatre 43. Assuming the multiverse theory is true and that every story ever told has really happened somewhere, which one of the movie/book/tv show/game/etc worlds would you pick to travel to first: -throws self into Fable, burrows into the soil, and never leaves- 44. If you had to eat only one thing for the rest of your life what would it be: I’m tempted to say pizza, but definitely soup! I can eat soup nonstop. Alternately, eel sushi...which is my absolute favorite food. You now know my ultimate weakness. 45. Older guys or young guys: I see your question and I’m gonna raise you with sass master partners. 46. If you could erase any show from TV history, what would it be: I...don’t...know...? I don’t really watch tv? 47. Singing or Dancing: Singing. Loudly. When no one’s watching me. I used to sing in talent shows? And it was terrifying. Now I just kinda sing nonstop when no one’s around. 48. Instagram or Twitter: Twitter, though I’m not around much anymore. 49. Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit: I only ever really got into the Hobbit book? But I liked all the movies for both. They were fun. 50. If you could create either a sequel or bring back any tv show/movie, what would you choose: A sequel for the original Teen Titans cartoons, alternately...another Riddick movie or a sequel to Labyrith...though that might feel weird with Mr. Bowie not...well.... 51. Who is your movie/tv show character that you are looking up to and why? I’m kinda struggling with this one. I relate to more game characters, tbh? But if I had to pick...probably Ellen Ripley. I first saw the Alien movies when I was very, very smol, but Ripley made a huge impact on me? She showed that you can be strong and vulnerable and survive everything that comes your way as long as you’re determined enough and it was really a lesson I needed at the time and still need on occasion. 52. If you were ever convicted of a crime, what would it be? -innocently pushes legal record out of view- Either protesting or getting into a fight because someone was in trouble and I wanted to help them. Also wandering into a place I’m not supposed to be in because I was reading and not paying attention because that’s basically what happened. 53. Anime- subbed or dubbed? Depends on the cast. 54. City or countryside? Both have their perks??? 55. What book have you read over and over? Harry Potter. I read them so many times I just can’t anymore. Which is a shame because I miss them. Also, the Forbidden Game series by LJ Smith...which sounds like a cheap smutty romance, but it’s actually about a shadow demon abducting a group of teenagers into another realm and tormenting them with their worst nightmares until dawn. There’s also a bit of romance. But, yeah, my beloveds I read too much and can no longer read, though I wish I could. Also, shout out to Tom Becker’s Darkside series which I’m on my...4th read through? Discounting all the times I read the first two books? And I’m trying desperately not to burn myself out on. 56. What is your personality type? INTP
My question: 57: What’s your go to comfort item?
There is just about one less question than I currently have followers, so anyone who wants to do this? Y’all can do it. ^^

Tasha Dougé, Day 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good Morning.  I was legit trying to finish these posts since this the weekend.  However, technology made that quite difficult.  I clearly have been taking a bunch of pictures and completely filled my phone up.  If this has happened to you before, the “no space” window that comes up is more than a nuisance.  I was not able to create these images or anything else without freeing up space.  That is what I’ve been doing for the past couple of days.  But that is in the past and we are here now.  Here is what happened on day 7.
I was supposed to leave the apartment by 11am, but it was more like 11:30ish.  (The schedule did say a late morning.)  The directions said to take the R to City Hall and then catch the free Downtown Connection shuttle that stops at Murray and Broadway.  I searched and roamed the area looking for a bus stop and found nothing.  I walked up to the booth behind the gate at City Hall.  One of the cops approached me and asked if I needed help.  I asked if he knew where to catch the free Downtown Connection bus.  Surprised, but not really, he had no clue what I was talking about.  Then he proceeded to tell me that he had worked there for 10 years and that he never saw the bus or heard of it.  Did he just put me is the tourist box?!?  Oh heck NO!!  I had to let him know that I AM a native New Yorker.  I told him that I was given instructions and that the bus existed (even though, I was starting to feel like I was on a wild goose chase).  He was absolutely useless to me at this point.  I texted Abbie (the fellowship Program Director) saying that there was no Downtown Connection bus.  No response...and none needed.  The good Lord and Ancestors must have felt my rising frustration because it that moment of arrrrggggghhhh, the bus/van showed up in all of its Firetruck Red Realness with the words Downtown Connection written in white across the side.  Thank You and Thank Goodness!!  Unfortunately because I had to make a quick dash across the street to catch it and I didn’t have the opportunity to show the cop the bus really exists.  10 years at the same post and he missed this big red vehicle.  My thoughts on that would be a whole other post.  So I am going to leave that right there and move forward because the day got back on track.
During the ride to my next destination, I was asking myself why didn’t I know about this bus?  You can be a native and still not know a hell of a lot and that has been confirmed through this whole journey.  The stops are not clear or marked, so if you don’t know or have the map, you will miss it.  I got off my stop and walked to the Irish Hunger Memorial.  As I approached it, it just looks like an area of grasslands.  I felt like Stonehenge was nearby.  However, when you walk around, it reveals itself to be so much more.  Words, stories, and history line the walls and there was a voice sharing them overhead.  I had no idea about the Great Irish Hunger, in which about one million starved to death between 1845 - 1852 due to policies imposed by the British.  No words.  The memorial also speaks to hunger and famine on a global scale.  I wanted to learn more, but the app is unavailable for android users.  RUDE.  After a walk throughout the whole space, my Samsung and I grabbed something to eat and went to the park to reflect.
I was given some prompts.  How has it been away from my apt/studio, have I thought about my art, what has my mindset been around the activities, what has surprised me and such?  Being away from home and the studio has been fine.  But baby, there have definitely been times where it was difficult to turn off the things that were inspiring me to make art.  I have quite a few things waiting for me in the parking lot.  Staten Island was a surprise for me and has piqued my curiosity for sure.  Thus far, this journey hasn’t taught me anything new about NYC.  Rather, it has affirmed that there is so much that NYC has to offer and that there is always something more to learn.  I love this place.  Now off to the Empire State Building.
I think the last time I was here, I was in elementary school.  Yall, do the math cuz I’m 40 now.  Lol.  This time was different.  Not only am I much older and can appreciate it more, I was gifted with an executive pass for the day.  That meant I got to skip lines and walk down red carpets.  To be clear, there weren’t that many people there.  There was one group that tried to follow me onto the red carpet and I had to let them know it was for executive pass holders only.  It felt like a VIP moment, but there wasn’t a lot of glitz and glam.  When I reached the exhibitions, I noticed that the express lane was a bit watered down.  Nothing but pictures on the wall.  However, the other side was rich and robust with sketches, history, 3D models and interactive components.  I asked the attendant to make sure my assessment was correct and they confirmed my suspicions.  So with that, I ditched the express lane and fully submerged myself in all of ESB’s glory.  There was so much to take in, but the piece on teamwork really stood out.  The placard read, “TEAMWORK: The high-altitude rivet teams performed dangerous work and fully relied upon one another to get the job done.  If a member were absent, the team would not work.”  Wow and more WOW!  Think about that for a sec.  Imagine what work culture would be like now if this was still held up to be true.  Indispensable where?  The level of value one would feel is beyond what our current society knows.  It makes sense as to why and how the Empire State Building was built in record time. Trust and value were core the vision.  And to know I would have missed this if I stayed on the express lane.  It makes me think about the quote, “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.”  Together, lets continue with upward and forward.  That was floor 80.  Next stops are floors 86 & 102.
The view is spectacular from the 86 floor.  Aside from the view outside, the view inside is just as spectacular.  That is thanks to the artistry of renowned artist Stephen Wiltshire.  In 2017, he took at 45 minute helicopter ride around the city and in five days drew the landscape, including the ESB, from memory.  And he did that in front of a live audience in the Observatory.  The walls are now lined with the replica of his work.  Come through with the Black Excellence!  The only thing that could top that is the top of the Empire State Building.  I have never been and this is where the Executive pass came through.  Others would have to upgrade their tickets.  So this was a perk.  In a flash, I went from 86 to 102 and it makes a world of difference.  Listen folks.  For my 30th birthday, I jumped out a plane.  15,000 feet above ground and I wasn’t nervous at all.  However, that wasn’t the case here.  There is something about heights and stillness that always reminds you that you are in a ménage-à-trois with gravity.  I eased my way to the edge and stared out in awe and wonder and gratitude.  In awe of what has been made and the people who made it, in wonder of the person(s) with the vision to dream of such a marvel, and gratitude to be in a position to take it all in and question.
Shoutout to attendants Alfredo, Sophia and Jere.  It was a pleasure talking to them and sharing laughs.  They are there to guide us, but they have stories too.  And now they are a part of mine. I told Sophia if I decide to go bungee-jumping, that I would come back and tell her all about it.  Visiting the Empire State Building reminded me that as a native NYer, I should carve out time to relish in all the marvels she has to offer.  I got you NYC.  Note:  The opening of the ESB happened on May 30th and Patti LaBelle was born May 24.  That means I am in good Gemini company.
Last but not least, Trivia and Karaoke!  If you know me, then you know.  I love trivia and I legit have my own Karaoke mic.  This was a fundraiser for CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities.  Teams had already been established, but I learned a lot from the trivia and the Karaoke contest was hilarious.  I appreciated the trivia that spoke the connection to other communities, including Black communities.  There was a wealth of resources shared in the chat and I was able to tie what I learned from the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) to the conversation.  It felt great to apply what I have learned in real time.  It only affirms for me how much of this process I have taken in.

[ 365 Days of SasuHina || Day Three Hundred Twenty-Two: Small Animals ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata, Inuzuka Kiba, Yamanaka Ino, Aburame Shino ] [ SasuHina ] [ Verse: Best Years of Your Life ] [ AO3 Link ]
“All right, class...today we’re going to be talking about pets! How many of you have pets at home?”
All around her, Hinata sees hands go up.
...she can’t raise her own.
Hiashi has never approved of the notion of pets. Whenever Hinata has so much as hinted as wanting some kind of animal companion, he’s shut her down flat. They do nothing but make messes, he tells her. They cost money to buy, to feed, to shelter. And if something happens to them, you have to pet a vet to take care of them.
Of course...Hinata had always thought it an odd thing to complain about. After all...children can be said to be very much the same, and Hiashi has two! She and her sister Hanabi - as well-behaved as they are for their ages - make messes. And Hiashi has expenses in regards to them both - he has to buy food for them, pay for their doctor visits, their clothes, their school supplies…
Would a pet really be so different…?
“So many of you! Would anyone like to talk about their pet?”
Snapped from her thoughts, Hinata looks up to her kindergarten teacher. Several students raise their hands, and a boy nearby is picked.
“I’ve got a puppy! His name’s Akamaru, and he’s my bestest friend! My mom raises dogs, so I got to keep one!”
“That’s so sweet, Kiba! Does your puppy know any tricks, yet?”
“No, not yet...but he’s gonna be a real good dog!”
In spite of herself, Hinata gives a small, sad smile. It must be nice to have a dog...something to play with, and cuddle, and take care of. Kiba always talks about his mother’s dogs...Hinata asked her father once if they could get one the next time one had puppies.
He, of course, said no.
“All right, anyone else? How about you, Sasuke?”
“I have a cat…”
“Oh you do? Does your kitty have a name?”
Hinata’s attention shifts to the boy speaking. He fidgets a bit.
“Um...his name is Shadow. He has long black fur, and yellow eyes. My brother found him when he was a baby.”
“Oh, goodness! Well, I’m glad your brother found him, and now he has a good home! All right now class, here’s our next activity! We’re going to draw our pets. And if you don’t have a pet of your own, you can draw a pet that you have always wanted! Take out your crayons and some paper from your notebooks, please.”
Hinata can’t help but pause. A pet she wants…? But...she couldn’t choose! There are so many good pets...from little animals like guinea pigs and hamsters to really big ones like horses! Of course, living in the city, Hinata could never have a horse. She’s not sure she would want one, anyway. They seem a bit...scary…
“What’s that supposed to be?”
“A fox, duh!”
“A...fox?” A few seats over, a girl named Sakura perks a brow. “Foxes can’t be pets!”
“Yeah huh they can! I saw it on the internet! This guy has a pet fox, and it’s super cute! If I ever get a pet, that’s what I want!” Naruto, another student, retorts, folding his arms stubbornly.
Quietly to herself, Hinata can’t help but giggle. Naruto is always so loud...but can a person really have a fox as a pet? They do look very soft and fluffy…
“Ew, is that a bug…?!”
The whole class turns to look as another girl - Ino - shrieks in disgust.
Beside her, a boy in glasses hides behind the tall collar of his coat. “...it’s a rhinoceros beetle…”
“Why would you want a nasty bug as a pet?!”
“They’re...interesting…”
“Nuh uh! They’re super gross! You weirdo!”
“Ino!” the teacher scolds. “That’s a very mean thing to say. Apologize to Shino, please!”
“Ugh, who wants pets anyway? They’re messy - plants are way better!”
Hinata shrinks a bit as the argument continues. A bug is a...strange choice, but if it makes Shino happy, then...that’s his business. Ino is being rude…
“Leave him alone, Ino. I bet that bug is nicer than you are.”
Several people turn to look at Sasuke, who dared to speak up.
“W-what?!”
“A pet isn’t just an animal. It’s a friend. A part of your family. If you make fun of Shino’s bug, you’re making fun of his family. And that’s rude. I don’t like rude people.”
Devastation colors Ino’s face. “B...but…!”
“All right class, that’s enough. We’re going to start some quiet time until everyone is done drawing their pets.”
As the teacher puts on some soft music, Hinata looks back to her paper.
It’s still blank.
While she’s always wanted a pet...she’s really never considered what one she would like best. It would have to be something...soft. A hard thing like a turtle, or slimy like a frog, or scaly like a snake, would never do. Not for her. And she’d probably prefer something...small. If it were too big, she wouldn’t be able to pick it up and hold it! And that’s very important.
Though that...doesn’t narrow her options down much, does it? There are lots of small, soft pets. Oh, how is anyone ever supposed to be able to make a choice?!
“A few more minutes class, and we’ll show our pets!”
A flutter of panic passes through Hinata’s chest. Oh no...she’s running out of time…!
...wait...she’s got it!
Taking out a grey crayon, she starts quickly but carefully scribbling. Soft, and small, and gentle...and cute…!
Perfect!
“Okay everyone, go ahead and put your crayons away. We’re going to share our pets! Be sure to tell the class if this is a pet you have, or a pet you want! Let’s start on this side of the room.”
Anxiously fiddling with her paper - Hinata always hates when they have to get up in front of the class… - she watches as people present their real or ideal pets. Most are pretty basic. Cats, dogs, birds, fish. But a few are more rare. One has a hedgehog, another has a parrot.
“All right Hinata, your turn!”
Swallowing dryly, Hinata picks up her drawing and moves to the front of the room. “I...I don’t have a pet,” she murmurs.
“We can’t hear you!”
Her cheeks flush pink. “I don’t h...have a pet. I’m not allowed to. But if...if I could have a pet, then...I would want a bunny!” She holds up her drawing. A rather fuzzy bunny with long ears stares from her paper.
“Oh, a bunny! How cute! Do you like bunnies, Hinata?”
She nods shyly. “I...I have a bunny plushie at home. It’s...my favorite…”
“Well, that’s a very cute idea! You can sit down now. All right, next -!”
Relieved, Hinata retakes her seat, watching the other students.
“This is my cat, Shadow...he likes to lay in the window by the front door, in the sun. He caught a mouse in our basement one time.”
“So he’s a mighty hunter!” the teacher praises.
“Yeah...he likes my brother best, but he likes everyone. Except my dad.”
“Oh dear…”
“Dad doesn’t like him either. They’re enemies. But I think they secretly get along.”
“Well, I hope so!”
Once the whole class shows their pets (or dream pets), the teacher excuses them for their morning recess. And all the kindergartners can talk about is their assignment.
“You really can’t have a pet, Hinata?”
“No...Father says I can’t…”
“Aww, but pets are great! You can come play with my dog whenever you want, okay?”
“T...thank you, Kiba.”
“And you can come see my kitty.”
Hinata turns to Sasuke. They don’t speak too much, but...well, then again, Sasuke doesn’t seem to talk much at all. “...really…?”
“Yeah. And someday, when you’re a grown up, you can have a bunny if you want to.”
“I...I hope so…”
“Or maybe a friend can keep a bunny at their house.”
“W-what?!”
“My brother kept a turtle for a friend for a while. He’d come over every weekend to go see it.”
“He...I mean, your brother didn’t...mind?”
“No. His friend gave him part of his allowance, and he took care of it.” Sasuke considers her for a moment. “...maybe when I get older, I could do that for you.”
“Y...you mean…? You would…?”
“It’s not fair you don’t get to have a pet. I said it to Ino: a pet is a friend. One that will never get mad at you, or think you’re lame. They always love you, no matter what.”
...for some reason, the prick of tears threatens to build in Hinata’s eyes.
“But I gotta be older, first...my mom would probably say no, so...you’ll have to wait, okay?”
“O...okay…”
No one has ever been that...nice to her before…
But recess can’t last forever, and soon the students are called back in to begin their next activity. And yet all Hinata can think about is the chance she might have to really have a pet…! Well, maybe not the real way, but...it would be a start!
For now...she’ll have to be patient. And if Sasuke would be so nice to her, then...she has to find a way to be nice back!
Before she can have a bunny...Hinata’s going to have to make a friend…!
                                                                .oOo.
     Oh my gosh it's late, so I'll be brief!      Some wee smols SasuHina fluff. This prompt was really...odd, so hopefully this works okay lol - I think Hiashi would be that strict parents that isn't fond of pets. Cuz he's a jerk xD      But we all know the Uchiha love their cats - Sasuke understands how important a pet friend can be. So he'll come to the rescue! When...he's older and can do so on his own, haha~      Anyway, I realllllly need to get to bed, so that's all for now! Thanks for reading~
