What’s Wrong with Superman?
Tumblr media
Summary: Flyman is a really stupid name.
a/n: I got a little excited so here’s my entry for @redhoodssweetheart ‘s writing challenge. If you’re a fic writer, I highly recommend joining.  This is for Quotes #1 This fic is based on the Superman Man of Tomorrow movie so it may not make sense otherwise.
Warnings: Reader is a bendy person so the physical descriptions will be weird and there will be some nsfw language but nothing happens.
masterlist
"What's wrong with superman?"  You ask, raising your feet up over your head and resting them against Clark's wall. The blood rushes to your head but you couldn't find the energy to care, not when the work day had you drained and aching. You're just happy to stretch your limbs and contort in angles that would loosen them. You need to convince your supervisor to transfer you to a different division.
"It's kinda..."  Clark waves his hand. "Yanno..."
Eloquent. You raise a brow at him telling him exactly what you thought about his solid argument.
"How about Flyman?" He says quickly.
"Ah yes, like the illustrious Batman but somehow worse." You say, turning onto your belly and nearly knocking over the things on Clark's bedside table. You shrug innocently. You shift, putting your feet over your shoulders as you think. "How about uuuuuh Captain Barbel?"
"Why?"
"Cus the guy could chuck them at people real easy." You answer simply. Clark really can't tell whether it was your excessive fidgeting or your monumental leap in logic that entertained him more.
He snorts, "That sounds like a dumb gimmick."
"So is being called Flyman." You huff.
"Careful, you're gonna hurt my feelings." Clark huffs in return, shaking his head as he grabs your favorite mug and one for himself. He has no idea how this specific mug was lucky but he's learned not to question a scientist's superstitions. Though he suspected it had less to do with actual superstition rather that you didn't want to admit that you just found the little cow-shaped mug adorable. He'll have time to tease you about it later. For now, he had to figure out this conundrum.
"If I was concerned about that, I would have pronounced Kansas properly by now." You say, sitting up to face him properly.
"What would you call him? Seriously." Clark says, resting against the kitchen counter. He's watching you with a hint of fond frustration. His leg bounces against the floor, fingers tapping on the linoleum countertop.
"Hmmmm," You purse your lips and lean forward- elbows on your lap, fingers laced together, and chin resting on your hands.  "Wonder Man?"
Clark's handsome face breaks into an incredulous smile. "Pfft, you’re joking right?"
"I have never made a joke in my life." You grin, taking the cup of coffee from Clark and scooting over to make room for him. You shrug. "There is a reason I'm not in advertising but seriously I think you should just go with superman."
"And give Lois the satisfaction?" Clark asks over the rim of his mug. He raises his brow.
"Think about it."
"Rather not."
You push on, ignoring him."If you popularize it, guess who gets the credit?"
"Are you telling me to steal?" Clark gapes at you and the mischievous glint and his blue eyes make laughter bubble in your chest.
You blow out a breath into the neck of your sweater. Well, his sweater up until 2 months ago. "Nope. You're the one interpreting it that way."
"Your boss is rubbing off on you."
"Oh, don't remind me."
"How about Captain Marvel?" He suggests, wrapping around his arm around your shoulder. You can smell the caramelized sugar in his coffee. You blanch.
"Oh. So you want a lawsuit."
"No..." A complicated expression takes over his face. His lips purse to one side as he thinks. You wait patiently for his answer, snuggling up to his side.   "How's it working at star labs by the way?" He says finally and you just had to love the clumsy way Clark tries to redirect conversations. He needs to get better at that if he wants to be a reporter. Then again, he's never failed to get an answer out of you with the earnest look in his eyes.
"I'm supposed to be in the engineering division, yeah?"
He nods before resting his face in your hair.
"Yeah, yeah. Him. Blegh." You wrinkle your nose and stick out your tongue, waving your hand in the air as if to shoo a thought away.
"But they stuck me with checking on that asshole biker wannabe..." You sigh.
"Lobo?" He asks, his voice rising a bit. Clark's grip in the mug tightens a bit but he has enough presence of mind not to break the mug.
"Well, did he say anything?" Clark asks, adjusting his glasses.
You squint. "My name isn't going on the paper."
"It won't." He says flat and steady. And you know you can trust him because, well, it's Clark.
You give him a crooked smile. "Nothing useful really. How much patience do you have for shitty pick up lines?"
Clark stiffens. "He was hitting on you?" He squares his shoulders. You see his jaw tighten and you think you can hear him grind his teeth. God, he's cute when he gets like this.
"He was hitting on anything with two legs."
And he was. Well, not really. You honestly couldn't really tell what his category for this thing was but you're pretty sure Clark doesn't care. He seems to care more about the fact that Lobo was hitting on you judging from the way he's borderline pulling you into his lap. You, frankly, were more concerned about what weird category you fit in to catch his eye.
"Maybe if I go with you next time..."
"You're cute Clark but I'm not sneaking you in there for a story." You pat his cheek.  Clark pouts at you. You try your best not to squeal at how cute he is. You fail.
"Let me come in with you." He presses.
"Honestly, it’s fiiiiiiiiiiine. Nothing I can’t handle."
He still looks unconvinced.
Clark buries his face deeper into your hair. "Hmmmmm, he sounds like an a- a jerk." He grumbles into your hair. You will get Clark to swear at some point.
You're extremely amused by Clark's behavior.  You wrap an arm around him. "Clark, he is quite literally contained in a cage I helped design. He is not getting out."
"Should I tell him I have a boyfriend and show him a picture of you?"
Clark's face goes ashen.  "Don't tell me you've done that before." That would explain so much.
"Then I won't." You laugh. That sound sends butterflies fluttering in his stomach no matter how many times he's heard it.
"I’d still feel better if I could come with you." He sigh. You would be lying if you said that you wouldn't feel better with Clark accompanying you. Sure, he wasn't Heracles but Clark was no pushover contrary to the shy demeanor. But... admitting that kind of thing was... not something you're comfortable with or used to so you let it settle like the cheap coffee in your mug.
"It’s really not necessary."  And Clark knows from the frequency of your heartbeat that you're lying. He knows you well enough to let it go. You kiss his cheek.  "But thank you, you’re disgustingly sweet."
You kiss him again. "Sides, I think he's just bored." Your eyes brighten, a memory resurfacing. Clark watches with interest, knowing there's a 50-50 chance that it's something like the material of Lobo's shoe. "Get this he says that superman guy is a kryptonian. Sadly, when I asked him the typical anthropology question he made farting noises." You tilt your head. "Well, he did say they were a good lay and... well the super guy was hung."
Red blooms on Clark's cheeks as he sputters out a response. You squish his face with your hands. You love messing with Clark way too much. You really should feel bad that look on Clark's face was priceless.
"Oh relax Clark, we both know my type is small town dork and not man from the moon." You giggle.
Clark kind of hates you sometimes.  He hates how easily you throw him off balance. Clark rights himself but he can't quite get rid of the blush dusting his cheeks. "Did he say anything else?" He asks, face still squished.
Unable to stop your giggling, you put your hands away. "Well, he called our mystery streaker a pretty boy."
"Very relevant."
"Yanno..." You drawl, taking Clark's glasses off. "yanno if you push that hair out of your face you'd look pretty good too."
Clark swats your hand away. You pout at him.
He looks at you wearily. "I like my hair how it is." He mumbles, fiddling with it.
"I'm not gonna cut it you dork. I just want proof that you have a forehead." You say, brushing some of his hair out of his face. Clark really does scream handsome when given the chance.
There's a flicker of recognition in the back of your mind that has your pulse quickening. Clark can already see the pieces falling into place, your mind whirring to get the answer.
His mind sprints to keep up and counteract the flow of your thoughts. Clark leans forward and kisses you softly. Without needing to open his eyes, he knows your mind is short-circuiting. Affection was a sure-fire way to get your mind to slow down. It was dumb but you really should be allowed to be dumb sometimes. Especially now when Clark isn't exactly sure how your feel about the mystery streaker.
You laugh your easy chirpy laugh sure but that didn't guarantee you were on board with an alien of all things. He wasn't even sure if you would think of him as any more than a test subject. No, he knew you too well to think that but there's still some part of him that isn't entirely sure and it scares him.
"Behave," he says, his face in a grin. The expression lights up his face. The smug satisfaction of finally catching you wrong-footed fills up Clark's features and shapes them into something borderline evil. "Tell me more about Lobo and his ramblings."
You shake your head. You mumble some version of “I always behave”.  You know Clark's hiding something from you. You can see it in the delicate way he's looking at you. You purse your lips deciding whether this is a good time to push but in the end, you decide to let him keep his secrets for now. If Clark of all people has a reason to keep a secret then it must be important. You brush your lips against his before laying your offer on the table. "A kiss per story."
Clark stares at you. "I can live with that." Clark huffs, adjusting his glasses.

Lately we've seen Sonic and Amy together these past few years. Sonic Forces for phones in a matter of events, the IDW (although they are not 100% canon), a few official images of the two in official accounts, the new line stickers did not look so much Amy stalking and Sonic uncomfortable; On the contrary they look good or have put it as if they were Sega's Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Do you think there will be a small future for the possible couple?
It’s true! Sega has been re-marketing over these new ‘eras’ you could say within media and advertising. It’s interesting to see their ‘new direction’ with so many ‘projects’ to find that ‘Sonic flare’ that once sparked the whole series into great appeal and success.
I have great hopes for them. I know it’s coming slowly, but as a little girl I once predicted that SEGA would have an ultimate question… Would romance in the Sonic series improve the brand as a whole? Is it successfully marketable?
Over the last few years, I have been studying and watching SEGA’s strategies and trying to learn the best I can while not being ‘in the loop’ so to speak. They’re kinda experimenting, and I worry it could be forced.
I’m only hoping that they realize Shipping and the possibility of young love isn’t a bad marketing idea. In fact, the themes of love and self-healing (Much like Steven Universe) and Friendship with Magical Success that makes sense (My Little Pony) are doing incredible.
Sonic’s main ‘theme’ was about nature vs. metal, man and his unbreakable soul, and how a life with friends is more than any life alone.
If they can put ‘Love of Friends’ and ‘Caring for others’ with the idea that Sonic and Amy, along with other couples they’ve established, could translate into a cute ‘crushing’ moments that could boost the series into more mainstream for this generation, it could be epic!
We want more emotion, but what we really want is that rebel heroism we saw in Sonic at the very beginning. He wasn’t as unconventional as Batman, as Lawful Good as Superman, or as Tragic as most superhero stories go.
He wasn’t Mario, who got the job done with a smile and Yahoo!
He was dealing with metallic scrap ruining his world. He was alone and had to accept others, but only under the condition, they accepted him and his way. He had to learn to care for others and not just protect them and then ditch them.
Sonic’s core is his unbreakable will, but then also his undeniable heart.
He loves his friends.
He loves nature and the world he races upon.
He loves his life.
That is inspiring. It’s subtle, as is most things in Japanese animation, but it’s what drew us to Sonic and his unusual character.
He’s cocky, he’s fun to watch, he’s hyper but chill… and he won’t back down.
Not all heroes can show a raw side and a big heart at the same time. Sonic can.
How does Amy fit into this world? This brand?
If Sonic is the will/soul of the series, Tails is the can-do spirit. The mind over matter. If I try, if I believe in myself as my friends and hero idol do, then I can do anything so long as I don’t give up. Knuckles, muscle, but brawns is used for valiant causes like saving your friends and doing the right thing without hesitation. You can’t just isolate yourself, you need others, and others need you.
Then there’s Amy.
The Heart.
People can change, they’re good, there is more then just fighting, life is meant to be enjoyed and not dull or boring, you can seize your own destiny, you can fight for those you love and the future you want to pursue, you don’t have to give up your dreams, you are special and wanted, you can make a difference, you’re strong so long as you don’t ever give up!
There is so much Amy brings… and when she’s tossed to the sidelines, we lose that emotional grip and the cliffhanger of seeing Amy’s subtle lessons inspire the rest of the gang and give us emotional depth physically on the screen…
You can’t cut women and their influence out. Even if it’s Shonen.
Rouge too, Blaze as well… All the girls have something that is hard to translate through a male character. (It can happen! Don’t get me wrong, I love sensitive guy characters!)
To abandon ‘heart’ from your series… to give those roles to the other 3 or even to other characters doesn’t work as well since Amy was LITERALLY crafted to be that glue that kept that emotional turmoil and comfort in a beautiful balance.
Tumblr media
Devotion to one’s heart.
Tumblr media
The heart is strong, no matter what. It may fight for different reasons, but each is a strong emotion that can’t be denied nor forgotten.
Tumblr media
The heart suffers, but it does so for others.
Tumblr media
Because it cares, it speaks up, and won’t let you carry on if it’s wrong or hurting others.
Tumblr media
The heart can be easily beguiled or deceived, manipulated, and used…
Tumblr media
The heart can also quickly forgive, not judge, and love unconditionally.
Tumblr media
The heart sacrifices, is unselfish, and undeterred.
Tumblr media
The heart is hopeful, and ever-patient…
Tumblr media
The heart can be fierce because it feels so much and will scold you when its called for. It’s brave and true but most of all-
Tumblr media
It perseveres.
Tumblr media
Gets back up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I told you didn’t I? There was no way Sonic would let something like that happen!” - Sonic Unleashed, Amy Rose.
Believes.
Tumblr media
The heart is strong.
And to be without a cute little romance like what the heart seeks, is like denying the heart altogether.
“There was always something fun to do with Sonic around. I really miss him.“ - Sonic Adventure
”I hate it when they leave me behind!“ -  ”Have no fear! Amy Rose is here!“  - ”I know that people fight over the most trivial things. Some people may be selfish like the Professor said… But they’re basically good. If they try their best and never give up on their wishes…. They always have a reason to be happy. That’s why you should help them out… Saving them is a good thing!“  - Sonic Adventure 2
”Love changes everything. It feels like every little moment in your life is huge!“ -  ”Sonic, I’m going to save you.“ - Sonic 06
“No matter the package, you’re still my Sonic, Sonic!"  - “That won’t happen! There’s no way Sonic will let it end like this!” - Sonic Unleashed
You save the lines that mean the most to the character of the HEART, and you can learn a lot about a character’s heart through their words.
I would love for our Blue Hedgehog to continue to learn about love through this spirited, cheerful, and canonally described “pretty” Pink Hedgehog!
Sorry, I could quote Amy for so long haha! That’s all for now, too long of a rant!

My thoughts on Zack Snyder's Justice League because I watched it
The opening sequence, bc even tho the repeated scream audio was stuipid this opening was better
The new meeting between batman and Aquaman - that drawing on the wall in the og was unnecessary
Diana's extra badassery
The design of Stephen Wolf, because now he actually looks scaryish
The Queens emotions about losing her sisters of Themyscira - QUEENS DON'T JUST SEND THEIR PEOPLE INTO BATTLE EMOTIONLESSLY THESE SCENES WERE NEEDED - FUCK
THE BIGGER WITH IN THEMYSCIRA WHY THE FUCK DID THEY CUT THAT OUT?! - oh right, its because the previous director is sexist as fuck,

The close up on the fly things because that actually made it scary
THE FUCKING LIGHTING CEREMONY IN THEMESCERIA HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT

Arthur Curry is a Stripper - Confirmed!
Arthur and his trainer talking, but idfk why they kept the bubble thing Although I do like that they clarify that it's not just Mera who can do that bubble thingy
The scene between Stephen Wolf and the stone-wall dude person was cool and it explained why Stephen Wolf was so desperate
Zeus, Ares, and Artemis prepped for battle along with Poseidon in the flashback was FUCKING AWESOME!!! Diana's Aunt as well, the shows of the Green Lanterns, and the ring returning to the planet [Although they should've named Artemis, bc she can easily be mistaken for Athena - Also; Artemis' roman equivalent in the goddess Diana ]
Darkseid being in the flashback, which explains a lot
The Gods vs Darkseid was FUCKING AWESOME
Barry's awkward rambling after running into Iris
ALSO IRIS FUCKING WEST!!!
The Big Belly Burger Reference, nicely done
My dad says Iris' car is beautiful
BARRY SAVED IRIS BITCHES
The slow-mo crash gave me anxiety
My dad says, "I know you got all the time in the world but c'mon this is ridiculous" about that scene then "That beautiful car..."
THE SCENE WITH STEPHEN WOLF AND THE ALTLANTIAN MAKES EVERYTHING MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE BECAUSE HOW THE FUCK DID STEPHEN WOLF KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE MOTHER BOX IN ATLANTIS
Do. Not. Make. Diana. And. Bruce. Romantic. Don't. Fucking. Do. It.
The use of slow-mo is kind of redundant
Victor being fucking AMAZING even tho he's getting in trouble at school
Victor and Mama's discussion gives some life to the 2-Dlike Cyborg from the og movie, WHY THE FUCK WAS IT CUT?!
Victor's inner-world where he's still fully human

The reference to Grodd YAAAAAAAS
I still hate that Barry's lightning is blue and not red
The explanation of the Speedforce and Snacks
"What are your super powers again?" "I'm Rich" Still one of the best lines
I love Diana's shirt in the scene with Alfred
"Looks like you have a date, Ms. Prince" lmfao - Unless his name is Steve, I doubt it
I feel like Victor and Diana would be a good brother/sister duo, ngl
Burying the fucking box at your mothers grave was the stupidest shit I have ever fucking seen Victor.
COMMISIONER GORDON HELL YES
Barry's utter fail at being normal around Diana
The underwater click-like dolphin speak was cool, but still kinda dumb knowing that later Aquaman speaks underwater just fine - ngl
Nice Liquidkinetics, Mera. Amber you're still a cunt.
Also, Mera says her parents died - Wasn't her father alive in Aquaman??
Victor seeing the bat-signal explains how he knew how to find them, honest
The badass entry of Bruce, Diana, and Barry makes me laugh
Barry is far too close to Bruce
Victor scared Barry LMFAOOOO
If Victor's father is the head of STAR Labs where the fuck is Harrison Wells?????
THEY LEFT BARRY BEHIND, ASSHOLES
Diana's annoyance at Barry running ahead is such a Mom thing
Stephen using the bug thing makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE
Diana trying to make a plan and it getting ruined fits with the exasperated Mom theme she's got going on.
THE SONG HEN DIANA GOES AGAINST STEPHEN WOLF, THE FUCKING VOCALS ALONG MAKE ME HYPE AS SHIIIIIIIIT
"I Belong To No One" I FUCKING LOVE IT
HEEEEEEEEELL of a push Barry lmfaooo

Diana saving Barry's ass - Accurate!
Victor taking over the Crawler makes more sense this way, honest
OKAY YOU AN ACTUALLY SEE AQUAMAN IN THE WATER AND IT MAKES IT MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE
That jump onto the crawler was smooth as fuck Diana!
Stephen Wolf getting visions from the boxes also explains a lot about some shit
"I know the requirements, I wrote them" Suuuuuuubtle lmfaoo
Victor brining the box them also fits better
Why is this Stone looking mother fucker speaking Latin?
Hello Darkseid, you look particularly dramatic this evening
Victor's explaining how he knows about the box makes a lot of sense, why was this cut again??
Actually explaining the fucking Mother Box was Helpful
Mrs. Kent and Lois having a heart to heart holy shiiiit
Martha talking about how Clark's death was drowned out by Superman's - wooow
WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH MARTHA'S EYES IS THAT J'ONN J'ONZZ?! THATS THE MARTIAN MANHUNTER HOLY FUCK IT'S J'ONN J'ONZZ
Ironic that Ezra-Flash's hero is Superman while Grant Gustin's hero is superman lmfao
Diana and Arthur chatting was cute, the quote was awesome and the Atlantians totally copped that quote from the Amazonians
Alfred being a sarcastic fuck is my favorite
Alfred being the voice of reason, as always

Protection Squad
@causeimanartist sorry this took so long I have like 5 WIP’s rn
Spending your days as a billionaire that takes canon fodder away from villains by offering potential henchmen jobs has made Bruce a target on more then one occasion.
It was fine, he could handle himself just fine, like the time some poor assassin had grabbed him from behind only to wake up a week later in hospital with no memory of the entire thing.
The problem was when somone publically declares they had their sights on him.
Funny how willing the entire police force is to work over time when it’s the local rich guy that funds half the city’s infrastructure is threatened.
Usually Bruce spends a few weeks in a dingy Gothem PD safe house having to make small talk with skittish officers and wait till somone eles saves the day.
It was torture.
So of course when mad hatter appeared on TV and said he planned to kill Bruce at midnight he was not going to spend his entire day with people he can’t stand playing nice.
“Get to Gothem I need some body guards for show”
That was all he needed to say for Clark and Diana to fly down mid press conference just in time for Bruce to assure everyone he would be fine.
The plan was to deal with Mad Hatter soon as the three of them were out of sight, unfortunately the hotel they chose was currently surrounded by the press and even Bruce couldn’t find a way out.
“On the bright side you get to hang out with us” Clark smiles as he closed the blinds on a particularly determined photographer.
“While I’m always happy to catch up this isn’t exactly what I had in mind” Bruce sighed drumming his fingers on the desk he had claimed as his work station.
He had spent the last two hours combing through possible leads and so far had come up with nothing.
“Well we could always make out a little” Diana suggested with a shrug. She was just as bored as Bruce.
Unlike Clark who could spend days in one place not really doing anything the other two were already going stir crazy.
Bruce looked tempted for a moment, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks before he cleared his throat and made a big show of turning back to his work.
“I just need to figure out Hatters game. And why me.”
“Erm your a billionaire and public face of Gotham.” Clark supplied.
“Yeah but going after public figures isn’t Hatters style, he settles personal grudges and I havnt done anything to piss him off.”
Clark and Diana exchanged a look which made Bruce bristle “not as Batman.”
“Maybe it’s about Wayne tech then? Has your company done anything that could set him off?” Clark asked literally hovering over Bruce’s shoulder to look at the screen.
Clark may have been a super powered alien and one hell of a reporter but he had no fucking clue what Bruce was looking at.
It just seemed like a huge list of sprawling random numbers and letters.
“That’s what I thought, I started by combing through the personal expense accounts of board memebers where they ussually hide fishy percheses but other then the usual prostitues nothing illegal”
“Your ok with members of the board getting prostitues?” Clark asked raising an eyebrow.
“As long as their respectful to them yeah I don’t give a fuck. Besides I’ve hired a good chunk of them, Katie down in public relations can speak seven languages and now gets health care.” Bruce shrugged missing the jealous expressions that crossed the others faces.
They knew Bruce wasn’t exactly the play boy he pretended to be.
Hell as far as they knew the only reason he wasn’t a virgin was cause Talia and Catwoman got there first.
It didn’t change the fact that whenever they heard stories about him with hordes of women a red hot jealousy burned in their guts making them want to slam him against the wall and remind him who really loves him.
The pair were pulled out of said thoughts by Bruce letting out a honestly pretty cute “ah ha”.
“What is it?” Diana asked joining Clark in the hovering.
“It wasn’t under the table that’s why it took me so long to find it. Honesty is hard to find these days.” He chuckled as he pointed at a news article from a couple of weeks ago.
A local theatre had burnt down and the Thomas and Martha Wayne foundation pledged to rebuild it.
That was easy to ignore as just another charitable even the company did.
The problem was that it pulled all the publicity was another local theatre that was doing a production of Alice in Wonderland.
Looking through the advertisement Bruce could see that it was clearly a trap made by Hatter that failed because no one bothered to go.
“He blames me for his last plan failing. I bet the Batmobil he’s in the theatre.”
“Ok I’ll tell the commissioner Batman told us where to find him and go pick him up.”
Clark headed for the door only to be met with a crowd of flashing lights.
It was so bright everyone in the room overed their eyes.
There were sounds of a scuffle but Clark and Diana couldn’t see anything.
“Please turn off the flash” Clark said as the lights continued with no click...
No click of the cameras mechanism...
Clark was around cameras all day he knew what they were supposed to sound like and this wasn’t it.
He took in a deep breath and blew into the crowd sending them scattering to the other side of the hallway.
The strange thing was that even with the cameras knocked out of their hands they continued to press an imaginary button.
Cold dread settled into Clark’s stomach when he realised they were all under mind control.
He quickly turned round to see Diana rubbing her eyes and Bruce lying of the floor.
“Bruce!” Clark yelled as he sped over hands hovering in terror.
Diana gently pushed him to the side as she rolled Bruce over.
There was a gash on his forehead sluggishly leaking blood but his eyes were quickly flickering open.
He looked up at Clark and Diana’s worried faces and gave him a crooked smile.
The kind that only they were allowed to see and no one else.
“Don’t be mad but I figured this would happen.”
“Did you use yourself as bait?!” Diana let go of him and let him flop harmlessly back to the floor.
Bruce let out a soft groan as he gestured to the unconscious Mad Hatter on the other side of the bed.
“I figured if we didn’t find out where he was he would come himself. Especially with the entire of Gotham talking about where I was hiding out.” Bruce pulled himself to his feet and pulled a pair of hand cuffs out of god knows where and secured Hatter.
“Ok but how did you take him out when we couldn’t even see.” Clark asked already picking up the phone to call the police for a pick up.
Bruce just smirked at them knowingly “because I’m Batman.”
The next hour was spent with the police dealing with Hatter and his victims.
After the camera incident they decided having any media around was a security risk and had them clear out.
Bruce had managed to avoid going to the hospital mainly thanks to having fucking Superman flutter around his injury like a mother hen.
The officers found it kinda funny how nervous the superhero’s were around their little billionaire.
Almost made them feel proud.
The trio were eventually dismissed and assumed to have gone their separate ways.
Which was the plan until Bruce grabbed the two super strong hero’s and pulled them into a empty utility closet like they were kittens.
The following make out session more then made up for the stress of the day.
Right up until one officer wearing a body cam opened the door to see the three wrapped up together.
It bought Gotham PD a few new squad cars and a coffee maker to keep that footage from being leaked.
Alfred did however still manage to get a copy and laughs about it whenever he can.
One good thing did come out of the situation though.
Whenever Bruce Wayne was publicly threatened the police saw no reason to step in.
After all when your banging Earth most powerful superhero’s who needs protection duty.
They did feel bad for Batman though...
Poor guy must feel like such a third wheel.

JUSTICE LEAGUE SNYDER CUT SPOILERS!!!
So, due to the nature of this film my opinions are going to be all over the place and admittedly biased. I am a huge Justice League fan, I hate Zack Snyder, I hated the original Justice League by Snyder and Whedon and I’m not the biggest fan of Batman or Superman.
The Editing:
I’m kind of between the acknowledgment that this was Frankensteined together and wasn’t meant to be released and the fact that Snyder was given like 70 million to make this movie so what’s up? Let’s start with the negatives. This movie could’ve been waaay shorter by editing out SO MANY unnecessary scenes and slow mo. I can distinctly remember several scenes where I felt awkward just waiting for a character to hurry the fuck up and get where they’re going. This is especially prevalent with the Flash as almost every scene with him is in slow mo despite him being a speedster??? Then there are just “walking scenes” where it was just so so so uncomfortable and pointless watching the characters walk from point A to point B with nothing else interesting going on in the scene. There are strange scenes that don’t really add anything or lead anywhere like the Icelandic lady smelling Arthur’s shirt????? And Steppenwolf getting “permission” from Desaad to interrogate the scientists even though we knew he was going to do that already. A lot of these extra scenes interrupt the pacing as well which is a shame because I think the time would be less daunting if you cut them. I think the worst part though was the soundtrack. They only play Wonder Woman’s theme once in the beginning but then every time an Amazon is on screen they start playing this “lamenting tune” over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again!!! If it’s not the same exact clip from the same exact song I will genuinely be surprised. A lot of it just doesn’t fit the film, I definitely prefer Icky Thump to whatever Snyder had Arthur drinking to.
I didn’t mind Snyder’s color palette this time as I feel like the colors are punched up just a bit. I am so glad they chose to change the entire scenery for the final fight, it was so much more pleasing to look at. Albeit it was dark so...not much visibility lol but it’s understandable. I caught myself catching chills from the suspense and the emotional scenes in this. The emotional heart of this film is definitely there! I love the fight scenes!!! Other than some awkward moments with Batman and the Flash they were amazing!!!! Everyone looks great but I think the cgi shines the most here. I can actually see the parademons clearly now and I like their design. Steppenwolf had the biggest improvement, he was kinda blurry before but he looks great and I LOVE how they chose to show off the armor and his anatomy throughout the film. For this film specifically, I enjoyed the “Part One” things because it fit well in explaining part of Snyder’s vision AND was useful when I needed to take a break from the film. I kind of enjoyed the lack of a wide screen. Like Evangelion, I got the sense that there was more happening around the characters off screen and it greatly added to the mood. One of my favorite scenes is the Barry saves “Iris” (I don’t know if that’s actually Iris West.) This is one of the only times I thought Ezra Miller’s Flash was not only charming, funny and had a neat interpretation of his abilities but this is probably the best use of the weird music and slow mo in the film. I thought it was really cute.
The Story:
By far the biggest improvement upon the original, the added context is not only done well but probably the most interesting part of the film. Though not without its own issues, it adds much needed context, stakes and characterization that wasn’t available in the original. I could summarize that “everything makes sense now” but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We learn so much about Darkseid, his followers and his purpose. The whole “science so advanced it’s like magic” thing was so interesting!!! Cyborg finally has a really well done and AMAZING origin story here!!! I love how Cyborg talking to Superman’s ship and the Mother boxes is used to explain the Injustice future and how dangerous the Mother Boxes really are. It’s really hard to put it into more words than I already have!
There are still a lot of issues but they’re not too big, just pacing and preference things. For instance we didn’t need the first scenes with Lois getting coffee but we did need the ones with her and Martha. However it’s not Martha, so what’s the point? We don’t know the Martian like that yet and we have no context showing that he knows Lois is “the key.” The Flash tends to over explain his abilities at awkward points but that’s an issue I’ll expand on later. The entire “Diana explains Darkseid to Bruce” scene is good but goes on far too long and we didn’t need to see them make the boxes even though it was cool. I hated the Injustice epilogue and the intro to the Martian. We didn’t need to see the entire “break into the lab” scene or the entire convo about bringing back Superman, some of that could’ve been cut. I don’t like how they handled Black Suit Superman. From my own knowledge and reading I know that the context for the black suit is that Superman was weakened and not killed so he wears the black suit to gain his power from the sun slowly, more or less. However it’s just a fashion choice here as Supes only lost his memory. Also, no matter how hard they try this movie is not funny. Besides the jokes we’ve already seen, very few hit and I can’t even remember them. I didn’t laugh once.
The Characters:
I wanna jump into it with how bad the Flash is here. Like I said, him saving “Iris” was pretty damn good but everything around that is awkward, bumbling and forced. My biggest issue is that I’m biased towards the CW’s Flash, who is my preferred live action Flash and I completely disagree with how they’ve treated the Flash’s origin and his father. The best part of the Flash is that he’s kind of like Spider-Man in that he’s super smart and strong but lives humbly and spends most of his time helping his community. And like Spider-Man he has great quips but is easily weakened by his arrogance. This Flash is barely above a hobo and only shows the faintest hints of competence. How did he even get his suit???? Did he steal the parts to make it??? The guy who plays his father is so close to being perfect actually, if they could stop him from sounding like a high frat boy. Seriously there’s “My dad is my best friend” and then there’s “I smoke up with my mom’s sperm donor Fred.” I didn’t even like him in the original however I ever so slightly prefer him to this.
Let me tell you I’m not one to get sincerely mad over a movie, it’s all calm critique over here. However, what they did to my man Martian Manhunter is mildly infuriating. Like I said, him being Martha completely ruins that scene and makes no sense in this film. Why doesn’t he help the justice league???? His formal introduction is so blah and lacks the punch that his character deserves. I was hoping he’d get his own movie or at least something similar to Cyborg in this film. So sad!
Cyborg is obviously the star of this film AS IT SHOULD BE. Again, I’m biased but from my reading and watching of the Mother Box story from the comics, ALWAYS had Cyborg heavily involved somehow because it’s connected to his origin. But goddamn does Ray Fisher absolutely shine and I’m glad Snyder saw that in him too. The depth they go into Cyborg’s origin was great and so entertaining to watch. Hands down consistently the best part of the movie. And he was funny!
I’m going to put Batman and Wonder Woman together because I ship them but also because my critique is fairly similar. I was absolutely shocked by both of them, Diana being faithfully more brutal and Batman being to a point off color by being so soft and hopeful. BUT I ADORED BOTH. There is a balance that many people misunderstand when writing these two characters. They both have the capacity for cold calculation but have big hearts and care a lot about saving people. I hope to see more of this characterization from them. Also, we love to see Alfred being the smart capable father we know he is. I do wish they kept the thing about Bruce confronting Diana about being hung up on Steve because it’s annoying and needs to be addressed.
Superman is boring again here, but it’s the way Snyder writes him so I’m not sure what else I can say. I just don’t like how inhuman Superman seems despite his upbringing. Aqua man was shockingly boring as well. I though he was giving a decent performance, being the laid back, giggly badass from the first film.
I think Steppenwolf was amazing, a few weird flops here and there but a compelling performance that really let us get to know him! Desaad was surprisingly intriguing, mostly due to the vocal performance. Eh Darkseid was definitely different. I was missing his almost regal authority, I always thought of him as an evil emperor and I was a little sad that he didn’t act more like it. Even the Harley Quinn show captured his well founded self righteousness.
The Dreams and Epilogue:
Here’s the thing, I already know this stuff was added for sequel bating but I’d like to address some questions and concerns that I still have. I still prefer Arrow’s Deathstroke to this one, but we’ll see. Jesse Eisenburg simply doesn’t fit as Lex Luthor, even that trick he pulled was poorly done. I wonder if Lex’s body guards are Amazon’s like in the comics. Jared Leto continues to try way too hard as the Joker but actually has some intriguing lines here. Kind of alludes even more that he’s a Robin turned crazy or something. Is this leading to Injustice or APOKOLIPS War?
Anyway, it was a good film! I recommend it!

Bloons
Tumblr media
Honestly the entire Bloons series has been some of my favorite flash/other-than-flash games out there, and I feel like it’s worth bringing it up since I just crossed the 365 day threshold for BTD6. Maybe in the past, but nowadays I definitely don’t feel like I ever play a game daily for a year straight. Chances are it was a little desperate when I first started playing, but as of now literally every single day I open the game up and play the daily challenge just for the sake of it. Plus, since the chest technically resets every 9 hours or so instead of 24, I could’ve cheesed it a bit, but I didn’t. That’s a pure 365 days of playing the game.
And even apart from that, the entire Bloons series has been in my mind since the first one and my middle/elementary school Coolmath Games days. Even though the puzzle, pure form of Bloons wasn’t as much in my interest, the staying power of the Tower Defense version is crazy. Flash Tower Defense games are plenty, and yet the one with the stupid monkeys throwing darts at balloons was the best.
I went back semi-recently and played a round of each BTD, and I gotta say, it was fun seeing where everything came from. 1 is absolute garbage, forcing you to just spam Super Monkeys if you want to get anywhere, but a good starting point obviously. I honestly know nothing about the people creating these games, but obviously it wasn’t made by a AAA crew, so you can’t expect everything to be put in place in the first iteration. 2 and 3 feel much better, but obviously not much after being so used to the modern stuff, and 4 and 5 are the ones that really shine the most, apart from 6 obviously.
I definitely was one of the types of people who initially reacted poorly to the artstyle change of 5 and 6, but I’ve definitely turned over. I don’t know if the whole BTD community rioted at that point, but I at least was like “ew, they’re cute now” when I first saw it. Thankfully I turned over, and realized the current designs are the absolute best out of the entire franchise. Also, I love their cuteness, as I love cuteness in general, so basically just call it character growth. Even though 2D art always is more interesting for games than 3D in general, the entire art direction of 6 is genuinely really good, being so bright and cartoony (at least before the fifth stages of upgrades) really fits the cartoony idea of monkeys popping bloons. 5, and the entire franchise before it, really is proof enough how horrible a pure top-down perspective is. On the title screen, you can see what the monkeys are supposed to look like, but in-game they literally look like weird blobby scorpions. Even though in the back of my mind I knew what they were supposed to look like, the pure top-down perspective completely ruined the image. Not to mention the OG designs for the monkeys was really weird and bad anyway. Even if you wanted a goofy fat kind of monkey, there are a million better ways to achieve that than how it used to be. Again, of course, they weren’t exactly AAA game-level quality, so you can’t expect such perfect character design.
But, oh my god. One of the things about this game that must’ve kept me through 6 was the character designs. If you know anything about me, it’s that I love a good character design, and 6 is full of them. It’s so interesting to see how they extrapolate the main concepts of each tower into their three different paths. The generic Superman-based monkey can turn into a Batman-based monkey, a Terminator-based monkey, and a fucking ancient god of the sun. The seemingly chill Druid can smite people with the power of Zeus, become the much more expected forest-based type, but also turn into this completely out-there being of pure wrath. I could go on and on about that, but needless to say for so many of them look and are designed so great. I think the tower with the coolest level 5s of the game is the Ninja. It’s hard to explain, but they all just look really cool while also not deviating too much from the cartoony-cute art style. I think my all-time favorite level 5 is the top path of the Wizard, mostly just because he looks really cool, but also because the parts of the path before it show him aging and growing out his beard. I also have to say the 2-0-3/4 Wizard also looks exactly my style, with the dark purply-ness and gold rims. Also, if you haven’t noticed, the Magic monkeys are my favorite type, and not just because their signature color is purple. That’s part of it though. Magic is also just cool in general. My main RPG-class of choice is almost always a mage/wizard.
Also, the heroes are also really fun. As someone who often creates species of aliens/monsters, I always feel like I want to create a dedicated character out of them no matter what, so I feel like the heroes are basically just that. And, of course they have good designs too, and of course as you can probably guess my favorite is Adora, basically being the same thing as the 5-0-0 Wizard with the Sun God aesthetic. Since she has her own stage and a special interaction with the True Sun God/Vengeful Monkey, I think she’s a pretty big deal anyway. I will say that I highly slept on Gwen, but then for Easter they gave her the Harlegwen skin and I fell in love. It’s insanely good stuff. Apart from looks, it does feel nice to have some sort of interchangeable tower that you basically just place and forget about, aside from using their powers. Plus, it makes a really easy type of thing to periodically add to the game to keep things fresh, even with the skins in general. It definitely is much better than the stuff they had in 5, where you had to use Monkey Money to buy each one, and you could only use them once per stage. Obviously 6 has the extra powers to help you out, but they feel much more optional and cheaper than the heroes of 5. Since I barely buy anything with Monkey Money to begin with, and since I’ve obviously had 365 chest openings, and AND since I barely use them to begin with, I’m completely stocked up. I only ever use the farmer and sometimes the tech bot if I get lazy. I did use the portable lake I got from my 365th chest opening after I got it, just for the sake of celebration. That’s literally how my mind goes.
6 does have the slight tinge of a mobile game artstyle, but in this case it’s really just better. I’m not into mobile games, and especially not the generic artstyle they have, but it is really pleasing to look at anyway. It did chase me off before I converted, though. That, and the fact you had to buy it now. Like a true gamer, I was put off by the fact that something that was once expected to be free now has to be paid for. But, then, I realized that the entire franchise has provided much more than 10$ worth of entertainment to me throughout time, so it was extremely fair to pay that. It is still kinda weird how 5 has to be paid for for mobile, when it is just free online, though. However, unlike a true gamer I think the microtransactions of the game are extremely fair. Considering they just give you things that you don’t need, and can get for free otherwise, I think it’s completely fine to have them. It sounds bad on the surface to have to pay for the game and have there still be microtransactions in it, but since they’re completely optional there’s no good reason to hate it. I think people assume that means that you have to pay for the game, and pay extra for different major parts of the game, and that sours their opinion on everything. Gamers are a strange, irrationally angry breed. I do hate using my phone for pretty much anything, though, so once I bought 6 on Steam I haven’t played it on my phone since. It’s just so much better in every single way...
I bought the game around the time of one of my family’s semi-annual trips to England because I thought it’d help when we were traveling between wi-fi spots, and it really did wonders for me then. Probably looked like some asshole teen to strangers who don’t know I barely ever use my phone for anything, since I was playing it so much. My sister even saw me playing it and bought it for herself, although I don’t know how much she’s played since then.
For the sake of stats, I have 235 hours played of it on Steam alone, and in game I’m level 115. My most complete map is Monkey Meadow with all medals except CHIMPS, which I put the effort in because it’s the default map, and definitely not because it’s an easy/good map because it’s just kinda bad compared to so many other ones. My Dart monkey has a total of 4 million XP, and the only towers that haven’t crossed a million are the Ice, Heli, Alchemist, Druid, and Spike factory monkeys/tower. I think the farthest I’ve actually gotten round-wise is 200 once or twice, but I don’t remember if I’ve actually beaten that level and continued on or lost there. I think I might’ve gotten past it once, but just sort of lost interest in micro-managing my powers and let myself lose. I probably got there once after that and lost on it. As someone who didn’t look up the optimal strategies for things until very recently, I think that’s pretty good. It definitely feels like the kind of game where if you know the best strategies, you can literally just replicate that over and over and win really easily, but that just sounds kinda boring. Since I pretty much only do daily challenges nowadays, it forces me to use a limited amount of towers, so I either go much farther because it forces me to build up less towers more, or it makes sure I can’t even pass round 90 because it just was made to get you to round 40 and that’s it. When I have the full range of towers to use, I feel like I try to get the instant satisfaction of getting a new tower to increase DPS instead of making the few towers I have/need reach their full potential, which seems to be the better option. I also don’t really sell anything when I don’t have a limited number of monkeys to place, which I think is also a good strategy if you can eliminate the major money loss in it, since it can give you a massive boost in cash to get you the better upgrades quicker. I may or may not try to learn the strategies to wipe the rest of the game clean eventually, but right now I’m fine with just doing the dailies.
But yeah, that’s like the whole thing with Bloons Tower Defense and me. Something something reject modernity, embrace monke, or whatever the kids these days are saying.
I will say that if I didn’t have so many OCs to work with and could just pump out animated shorts on the reg, I’d love to do some sort of Bloons shorts. They’d all lean into the ridiculousness of it all. Like, the first one could do the 2001 thing with the monkeys learning to use sticks, and as the main one is bashing the ground with one or whatever and throws it up, an ancient, leathery patchwork bloon flies overhead and accidentally bumps the stick such that it lands back on the main monkey’s head, knocking him out. Cue the monkeys around him to go berserk and start throwing other sticks at the ancient bloon, and once they pop it using a sharp stick, they realize what they must do. Cue a long montage of the different stages of war and invention using the monkeys finding better ways to fend off the bloons, with the whole idea being that the monkeys are getting irrationally angry at the bloons, who are just sort of around and not actually sentient, even though they assume they’re malicious because of their history and upbringing. Absolutely no political message in there whatsoever. Just comedy.
Other short ideas could include, for the start of the modern time story, it could be the backstory of some sort of chiseled veteran main character, which would involve a bloon floating into his town, and from the people’s panic someone knocks over a lamp post that sets his town ablaze, only for him and his people to blame the carnage on the bloon, causing his classic edgy character motives for fighting against the bloons. Another, much more golden idea, would be an interrogation scene, where a bunch of monkeys capture a bunch of bloons for interrogation purposes. They’d obviously do the whole “Silent treatment, eh? Well, we have ways of making you talk...” thing, except the “way to make them talk” is to strap them to a wall with one dart guy on one side to systematically pop them to try and extract info. But, of course, it would look and play out exactly like the classic Bloons puzzle game. That’d be the fun part. If not that, then it could be like the classic carnival game that likely inspired the idea of using darts to pop balloons. I really just think this weird world of monkeys and bloons is perfect for some good comedic content. Watching the monkeys severely overreact to the bloons sounds extremely fun, and I’d love to see someone do something with it some day.

Hi, I’m kinda new to the fandom, and I wanted to read more about dick Grayson and the batfamily. Do you think you could recommend some comics I should start with?
hi, of course! i actually have a comic recs blog @whatthefuckisacomic, where there’s a batfam tag and a dick grayson tag that you can browse, plus a page dedicated to tips for starting out with comics. the batfam is a bit hard to rec for because quality can vary drastically from comic to comic, and it’s hard to go “you might have to read this because the event is important to understand what’s going on, but it’s a pain because the writer sucks”. for a starting point i’ll try to stay away from those, though.
under the read more i more or less ended up following a timeline for dick, but i tried to give you options in case something isn’t up your alley and you want to move on to something else. i hope it’s still easy to follow, and don’t hesitate to ask me any follow up questions! these are all gonna be pre-reboot recommendations, because dick’s characterization was very watered down with the n52 and i frankly prefer to just stick with stuff from before.
let’s get into it!
a good starting point for dick, because it’s easy to read and quite beginner friendly, would be robin: year one – i don’t like chuck dixon’s writing in general, but this is one of the exceptions where i would recommend it. an enjoyable origin story you can also read is batman: year three, published in batman #436-439, which mixes present time events (set after jason todd’s death) with flashbacks to dick’s origin. it’s not necessary to read batman: year one and year two before to understand what’s happening in year three, but they’re important batman stories, so if you’re interested in bruce i’d encourage you to read those too.
while we’re still on origin stories, if you want a comic that goes straight to the facts, thoroughly but superficially, and is quite useful to get a good idea for how dick became robin, formed the teen titans, then became nightwing, you can check out secret origins (1986) #13. just keep in mind that it details the pre-crisis version of events, so some of it has been retconned and it might conflict with other stuff you’ve read, or will read.
personally, i find that dick’s most enjoyable stories happen when he’s with the titans, so i strongly encourage you to check out the new teen titans, if you don’t mind older comics style.
as for dick becoming nightwing, you should read the original story where it happened, which would be the judas contract, an arc published in tales of the teen titans (it’s collected as a tpb for easier reading). marv wolfman recently wrote a story set during this time in the robin 80th anniversary special and it has great dick and bruce characterization imo. i don’t recommend reading the whole special if you’re not familiar with the robins already because there’s a lot of callbacks to other comics, but after you’ve read the judas contract you can check out wolfman’s story at least. again, these follow pre-crisis continuity, but they’re very much worth it.
then there’s the nightwing (1996) solo which is... a mess, mostly. tomasi’s run (collected under nightwing: freefall and nightwing: the great leap) is usually regarded as the best from that comic. other than that this solo can be mostly boring or plain bad at times. i read all 153 issues of it (it was one of my first batfam comics i read), and i’ll say that while it could be a drag it was useful in that following a comic going from 1996 to 2009 helped me find some important events in batman history when it crossed over – same can be said for the robin (1993) solo. i’d only tell you to check it out if you have a lot of time in your hands and very low standards, but please don’t start there. i’m only saying this cause it was useful for me when i was in a moment when i wanted to read everything. if that doesn’t apply to you, better to stay away.
that tangent out of the way, let’s go back to comics i do recommend lmao. nightwing: old friends, new enemies is a good one where he teams up with roy harper. another one to go with my dickroy agenda is outsiders (2003), but before you read that you need to read titans/young justice: graduation day to understand the context under which the outsiders are formed. dick’s characterization during outsiders is very particular because it’s set at a low point in his life after he’s lost donna troy; he might seem different than in other comics, but it’s very important to understand him as a character.
lastly, dick had a pretty solid stint as batman after bruce “died” – i always say that while being batman wasn’t good for dick, dick was good as batman. for this period in his life, you have batman: long shadows, then batman: the black mirror. for more batfam interactions during this time, you can read gates of gotham, and for his relationship with damian there’s batman & robin (2009).
these should give you a good idea of some important things in his character’s history. just as a reassurance: don’t be intimidated by the amount – he’s a very old character so it’s only natural there’s a lot –, and any of these you could probably enjoy without having read everything before (except i wouldn’t recommend you start with a comic like outsiders without being acquainted with his character first, since it has very specific characterization).
as for more general batfam comics, i know a lot of people point to gotham knights for that, but i personally haven’t read it so i can’t speak for it. and i can’t make this post without recommending batgirl (2000), because it’s just great. you might also want to read jason’s death (a death in the family) and tim’s subsequent introduction (a lonely place for dying) just because they’re so often referenced, and i could go on with other important events... but there’s so many i’d rather tell you to follow another character’s reading list, than read important comics without context for the sake of reading them. this is where i plug in my sideblog again; if there’s any other batfam characters you’re interested in reading more about, you can find them listed in the tags page.
as a final note i feel like it’s my duty to encourage you to branch out to comics other than the batfam, which is what people new in the fandom tend to read the most just because it’s the most popular. i still love them and i still read their comics but there’s a lot of good comics for other characters, a lot of them better than many batfam comics since, like i said, they can be a gamble as to their quality. sometimes there’s dynamics that the fandom demands for batfam comics that can actually be found in canon for other dc families.
if you want to branch out but you’re unsure about jumping straight into another family with zero knowledge, i recommend reading team comics that include batfam members and using those to get to know more characters. i actually recommend doing that even if you’re not trying to branch out yet – reading about batfam characters outside of the gotham context, which can be very isolationist, usually adds a different dimension to them and you’ll find interesting takes on these same characters. for example, some of my favourite characterization for tim happens in young justice (1999) – another very fun beginner friendly comic i recommend –, and i enjoy bruce more when he’s with the justice league or alongside superman than i do in his solo comics.
and that’s it! don’t hesitate to ask me or DM me for anything else, and just remember that recommendations are very subjective. when reading comics what usually happens, to me at least, is that you pick something up, maybe leave it for a while, check out something else, come back to the first thing, and so on. while following a list or something you might find a different character that you enjoy and want to know more about, you might see an event that catches your interest, realize you like a writer and want to check out their stuff, and in my opinion allowing yourself to follow what you like is the most effective way to make reading comics an actually enjoyable experience.
i made it into a list in case you don’t want to read through my ramblings every time, ordered a bit better:
robin: year one
batman: year three
optional before: batman year one, batman year two
secret origins (1986) #13
the new teen titans
the judas contract
nightwing: old friends, new enemies
outsiders (2003)
for context read titans/young justice: graduation day
nightwing: freefall
nightwing: the great leap
batman: long shadows
batman & robin (2009)
batman: the black mirror
gates of gotham
not dick specific
batgirl (2000) - for cass
young justice (1999) - for tim
good luck!

Hey I know that you all see me as the Grand Authority on Movie Opinions in that I am correct and can never be wrong and also my opinion on things is NEVER unsolicited because I’m literally the most important person on the internet and you CRAVE my opinions.
So I saw Shazam last night and I’m gonna talk about it under this readmore because I dunno how long it’s gonna be and I respect y’all’s dashes like that (plus if y’all don’t care abt what I thought then you can keep scrolling). There will be spoilers but I will clearly mark them.
So I’ve been thinking to myself on whether or not Shazam was the best DCEU movie. All things considered, it didn’t have too high of a bar to leap over, seeing how Wonder Woman, which was originally my favorite, had a lot of incredible moments, but was bogged down by a few of the scenes around those moments and a frankly terrible final act. And if I were to put it into numbers, (which people seem to love) I’d put Wonder Woman at about 50% INCREDIBLE 20% ehhhh and 30% GOD WHY, plus add a few bonus points for being so inspiring within its social context as a female-led superhero movie that isn’t terrible, sexualized or both. Shazam, on the other hand, doesn’t get those bonus points of social context, but has about a 60% Pretty Good and 40% ehhhh with one small bonus point for having one scene that personally hit me pretty hard that I’ll talk about later. It doesn’t reach any of the LOWS that any other film in the DCEU had, but at the same time, it didn’t really hit any of the highs either.
Something that’s worth addressing is that as someone who likes to partake in any and all drama because I’m a gremlin who loves seeing complaining, I saw plenty of DC fans complain that this movie was falling into a sort of trap set up saying “ITS ONLY BEING LIGHTHEARTED BECAUSE IT THINKS THAT IT HAS TO BE MORE LIKE MARVEL AND THATS WHY MORE PEOPLE LIKE IT” and I do want to address that because it’s a stupid argument. While Shazam is a departure from the DCEU’s more serious tone thus far, it’s not a black and white deal. DC isn’t strictly defined by being “the more serious Marvel” or vice versa. Being lighthearted did help Shazam out, not BECAUSE it was more like a Marvel movie, but because unlike movies like Batman v Superman, it didn’t try (and fail) to tackle more complex themes and down to earth schemes that made it lose focus and become an enormous mess. That being said, Shazam’s schemes and themes were much simpler, and it made for a much SMALLER mess if/when it did lose focus.
Before I dive into the spoilers, I’ll give my two cents on the film as a whole. Like I mentioned, the light-hearted tone did help out the movie, and it took itself a little less seriously with things while still balancing out some emotion in the story, and the whole theme behind it, while not PERFECTLY drawn out, still had a coherent message behind it. Visually, the movie was definitely trying to break out of the Zack Snyder mold that had been set up back with Man Of Steel, and while it still chills out in Low Saturation City a lot of the time, it IS doing a better job. Zachary Levi definitely deserves a shoutout in this movie for probably being the second best actor in the DCEU closely behind Gal Gadot in terms of casting choices, perfectly encapsulating the idea of Shazam, and pulling off the role of a Big Billy Batson, however he seems to have taken away the acting talent from half of the rest of the cast, because some of the acting in this movie is.....not great. And that’s not counting the child actors who did alright considering they’re child actors (Freddy in particular was fantastic).
The dialogue in this is pretty solid and indicative of the situation, and they really tried to lean into the idea that it’s some middle school (or early high I cant really remember) kid who just got these powers, and they do a pretty good job of that in both the dialogue and in the first half of the movie. And like I mentioned, there is a bit of Emotion in this movie that they really tried to deliver and they did a pretty good job delivering it. That being said, it’s very clear that they’re going for a kinda cheesy sort of vibe. Which makes sense, since the concept is Kid Becomes Superhero, which is ripe for picking like some kind of Cheese Tree....orchard.....thing.....and it leads to just a fun experience. It’s something that knows it shouldn’t be taken too seriously, which is why I’m writing an incredibly long analytical review of it, because I’m a curmudgeon like that.
ALRIGHT SPOILER TIME SCROLL DOWN TO THE VERY BOTTOM IF YOU DONT WANNA GET SPOILED
Lol alright so this spoiler section is gonna have a lot of negative points, so let me start with some positives.
The overall theme of this movie is sort of an idea of Found Family (which I’m an absolute sucker for), and there’s a subplot that follows this idea where Billy is looking for his mom. The movie starts showing a flashback where Billy’s mom gives him a compass saying “it’ll always help you find your way home” and then very shortly afterward, Billy gets himself seperated from his mother and had to be put into foster care and is now searching for his mother by looking everywhere he can to the point it causes him to run away multiple times. It’s not too surprising how this ends, with him finding his mother, only to find out that she just didn’t pick him up because she was 17 at the time and felt she COULDN’T take care of him. And that’s the point when he realizes “maybe my REAL family were the kids in the foster home all along”. Billy Batson sees that his birth mother’s life is tumultuous, taking on new lovers, working part time jobs, and not having time to even consider caring for Billy, moreso just hoping he turned out alright. Billy, as a sort of symbolic gesture, hands his mother the compass saying “you’ll need this more than me”. And then she replies with two words that just killed me for some reason.
“What’s this?”
I don’t know. It was a line that hit me. Kinda reflecting that sort of disconnect. Alright enough being nice, let’s talk things that are Alright but could be better.
The villain was alright. His character was pretty fun at the beginning, but after he got revenge on his father for Toxic Masculinity™ he became pretty boring, acting more like a CGI Monster Vending Machine. Of course it kinda leads into the whole Cheesy vibe they were going for, but it’s hard to make your movie seem like it’s gonna be campy and cheesy when your villain doesn’t really fall into the role once he actually fights the hero (also with the color palette). Just wish they would’ve sorta gone full Sam Raimi and just leaned into the campiness, with this movie kinda afraid to jump into the pool past its bathing suit.
And then there was the climax of the movie in the carnival, where I felt like it went a little bit downhill, not really being the best that it could be, but still pretty serviceable. The director seemed to be REALLY into using slo-mo, using it a little more than necessary to the point of being distracting, and while the Shazam concept was used in a few fun creative ways, there were some moments where it could have had more utility, or one moment in particular when he absolutely needed to change back and probably had time to say “Shazam” like twenty times over, but he didn’t, which was a LITTLE frustrating, but that’s way more nitpicky. Speaking of nitpicks, there were a few shots that were.....questionable (most notably the Santa.....moment? It seemed to be a clear funny moment, but it didn’t really land and didn’t flow either)
And also the climax has a bit of a fun twist moment that helps round out the Found Family moment where all of Billy’s adopted family also become superheroes, which is pretty sweet, but there was one SMALL nitpick that doesn’t overwhelmingly detract from anything but I found strange. Every character had a power, with one person showing the super strength, another showing super speed, another with lightning, another with flying, which were Shazam’s powers. And then Mary was there....and we don’t really get to see her powers? I did research and apparently she’s a character in the comics with all the powers of Shazam, but Mary was one of the only other characters with an arc and we don’t get to see her with any powers, which is a bit weird (we also don’t get to see her arc formally conclude. We can draw conclusions but still). So in the end it looks like Mary essentially kinda got Kairi’d. Oof.
But that’s really it for spoilers, in terms of the “bad” it’s really just that it didn’t really give it enough of an impact and while it knew what it wanted to be and isn’t disingenuous about it, it also doesn’t really commit to BEING what it wants to be.
ALRIGHT SPOILERS ARE ALL DONE YOU CAN LOOK NOW HERES MY BOTTOM LINE
Bottom line is that this movie is definitely flawed, and after consideration I don’t think I’d put it at the top of the DCEU, if only because Wonder Woman reached higher points than this one did, but that shouldn’t be a slight against Shazam at all. Heck, I would consider putting it a little bit above Captain Marvel if we’re inevitably comparing rivals.
So all in all I give it a Shazam/10. A good fun time. Not the BEST movie you’ll see this year, but you’re there to have a good time and you’ll have it.

hi! Comics rec anon here! to answer your question, I'm not entirely new to comics, have read a few but not enough to say I have a specific type. The first series I read was all the jessica jones comics which I really liked, also the miles morales series which i enjoyed and the spidergwen series which was cute but the art was kinda annoying lol. i also like a couple of dc ones like mister miracle. so i think i prefer a general rec from you since the comics world is so big. thanks in advance!
Got it. Hmm… let’s see. It’s probably easiest to break it down by publisher then. I’ll try to give a mix of ongoing, finished, and “classic” stories.
Fair warning, I read a lot of comics (probably about 60 per month, and that’s not including manga), so even though this may feel like a long list, it’s short for me.
Marvel
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - Relatively new series, and it’s been fantastic so far. Great art, and a bit more grounded than the Amazing Spider-Man run (which is also great). Stellar art, too.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man - A little YA-ish at times, but overall enjoyable. You get to see a lot more of Miles’ personality in this one, which is always fun.
Superior Spider-Man - Because nothing is more fun than seeing a semi-reformed Otto Octavius try to be a hero.
Captain Marvel - Kelly Thompson does a phenomenal job with this series. She has a great hold of Carol’s voice. Would highly recommend Kelly Sue Deconnick and Margaret Stohl’s previous runs to give context (Captain Marvel 2012-2017, Mighty Captain Marvel, and The Life of Captain Marvel).
Jessica Jones - Not sure if you’ve read Kelly Thompson’s recent run or just Bendis’, but hers is definitely worth a read.
Avengers (2019) - actually a solid run. I would check this out if you’re more into crossover, large-scale storytelling. They’re in the middle of War of the Realms, though… so maybe wait until like August or September?
Immortal Hulk, Daredevil, and X-23 - also good. I read them off and on (not really my fave characters to read on their own, I enjoy them in ensembles), but the stories are solid.
Rogue & Gambit - mini series that I absolutely love by Kelly Thompson (she does great character work) that came out last year. Mr. & Mrs. X is a follow-up to it and also tons of fun (nearing its end as well).
Runaways - I fell off of this when Brian K. Vaughn left, but I can say up through his run ended is well worth the read.
As far as classic stories, Infinity Gauntlet, The Dark Phoenix Saga, X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, Secret Invasion, and Secret Wars would be my first recommendations.
I would’ve recommended Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider, but maybe wait on that. It’s about to end soon and transition to just Ghost Spider (where she leaves Earth-65 and comes to Earth-616 where Peter and Miles are). Same for X-Men. I’m currently reading Uncanny, but X-Men is about to be overhauled soon. So probably hold on that front.
DC/Vertigo
Honestly, not the biggest DC fan (I lean more towards Vertigo actually), but there are a few that I enjoy.
Action Comics (starting at #1000) - I am not a Superman fan, but I enjoy this series, which says a lot. I enjoy what Bendis is doing with him in this run.
Naomi - a new series, also by Bendis, following the story of a young Black girl who is investigating the circumstances around her adoption. Don’t want to give too much away, but probably my fave DC run at the moment. And Jamal Campbell’s art is fucking gorgeous.
Dial H for Hero - it’s fun. It’s weird. Not for everyone, but maybe give it a shot.
The Flash and Batman, New 52 runs - New 52 gets shit from fans a lot, but I thought these runs were awesome. Very good story-telling.
Dark Nights: Metal event - Probably one of the best things DC did in a long time. It’s a massive event that pretty much reworked the DC universe and all the characters. Enjoyed it immensely.
Heroes in Crisis - this miniseries ended very recently. It’s a story focused on a major event that happens at Sanctuary, a rehab for superheroes suffering from mental health issues (e.g. PTSD after doing something that nearly killed them). Not your usual superhero story, which I liked.
American Carnage - very gritty story focused on a white-passing Black man who infiltrates a white supremacist organization. It’s really fucking good.
High Level - I picked this book up randomly because the cover looked cool. I’ve been reading it ever since. I would say it’s weird sci-fi/fantasy/cyberpunk adventure. A little strong on the language, but very interesting story and great artwork.
Birds of Prey - awesome series with the DC women. A little shaky sometimes, but Gail Simone does really good character work. Her run is probably the only one I’d bother reading.
Deathbed - miniseries by Vertigo that ended maybe a year ago. It’s so bizarre and hilarious and out there. I loved it.
Batwoman (J.H. Williams run) and Batwoman: Rebirth - Kate Kane, my favorite lesbian superhero. Williams did a great job in his run (and the art is to die for). Don’t read the back half, they change writers and it’s a goddamn mess. But then Marguerite Bennett (a queer woman) picked it up in Rebirth, and it got awesome again. Also, shout-out to Greg Rucka for officially making her queerness canon in 52.
Wonder Woman - Wonder Woman’s my fave of DC main characters (along with Martian Manhunter and Wally West I & II), and my favorite run for her is Greg Rucka’s. He does a surprisingly good job of writing women. The run is over at the moment, but I’d check it out. Good stuff there.
For classic stories, Kingdom Come, Watchmen, Flashpoint (precursor to New 52), and Neil Gaiman’s Sandman are some of my faves.
Image
Image is probably what I read the most. Definitely has the most diverse pool of comics to choose from.
Saga - My favorite comic series of all-time. I’ve gotten so many people to read this and they love it. It’s weird - really weird, actually - but the storytelling is phenomenal. And it’s on hiatus right now, so plenty of time to get caught up.
Ice Cream Man - This series is so fucking weird, but I love it. It’s sorta like… Tales from the Crypt? Different stories (mostly horror) that all feature this demon ice cream man.
The Weatherman - This series is such a goddamn delight. I don’t want to ruin the plot but just… yeah. Read the first issue and it just goes crazy from there.
Man-Eaters - Sort of a niche story. Basically, this takes place in a society where when women get their cycle, they turn into giant cats and maul men, so they’ve given them pills to keep them from menstruating. Sounds weird? Wait until you read it. Probably a highlight series of the year for me.
Black Science - You might not like the art in this one, but maybe give it a shot? These scientists are trying to solve the problem of limited resources on Earth by hopping across dimensions for new ones (infinite dimensions, infinite resources). Only problem is, their machine got damaged so now they hop uncontrollably to whatever dimension it chooses for however long it decides. It’s a wild ride.
Middlewest - An interesting take on parent/child relationships and how the consequences of abuse, anger, and depression can manifest in dangerous ways. Sounds more bleak than it is - the story actually has quite a bit of humor.
Excellence - Very new series, but with a PoC lead, about PoCs, with mostly PoC creators. A story about a secret society of Black magicians and a son whose next in line to take on the mantle, and it’s pretty fucking cool. Issue 2 comes out this week - check it out!
The Walking Dead - I don’t think I have to explain this one, do I? Zombies.
Lazarus and Lazarus: Risen - Sci-fi story set in a dystopian society where the world is ruled by like 15 or so families, and they each have a Lazarus to fight for them. This is told from the perspective of the Carlyle family’s Lazarus, Forever.
Die - If Dungeons & Dragons and Jumanji had a baby, it would be this book. Sounds weird, but once you read it, you’ll find the description to be accurate.
Anything from Brian K. Vaughn - I have yet to read something from Brian K. Vaughn that I don’t like. Saga, Paper Girls, Y: The Last Man, Runaways, Barrier… his shit’s always good.
Independents / Not Marvel, DC, or Image
Some of these are nostalgia-based, so fair warning.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BOOM Studios) - very new series that’s out. Great art. If you were a fan of the show, I think you’ll like it. It’s a re-imagining of sorts. There’s also an Angel series that just started.
Nancy Drew (Dynamite) - Listen… I could not stand Nancy Drew as a kid. Never got into it and thought it was boring as hell. But I really loved this miniseries (another Kelly Thompson run). It’s maybe 5 issues?
Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and Go Go Power Rangers (BOOM Studios) - Honest to God, if you had told me 3 years ago one of my fave comics would be a Power Rangers one, I would have laughed in your face. Both of these series are really good and provide the continuity, nuance, and characterization the show lacked. Fan of the show or not, I’d say it’s worth checking out if you enjoy the teenage superhero genre. Also, just some really amazing art and world-building.
Anything from Jinxworld - This is Bendis’ own publishing company. He’s put out Cover, Pearl, Scarlet, and United States vs. Murder, Inc. All of them are really good.
Umbrella Academy (Dark Horse) - This is the series the Netflix show is based off of. Right now, they’re doing Hotel Oblivion in the comics, but start with Apocalypse Suite and Dallas.
So, there you go anon. There are FAR more I would recommend, but I tried to give a good range of books for you to choose from without (hopefully) overwhelming you. And if you have any questions, I’m more than happy to talk about any of them.

Red Prince Eternal /2
A/N: Continuation of part 1
Warnings as before
Summary: They’ve done it. Tim has completely rejected them and now, there’s no crying over spilled milk. He sits patiently, watching time pass by, but fate won’t ignore him forever and a new presence will disturb them all.
Damian was standing outside in the dark. Tim knew, hard to ignore that intense staring the magically passed through walls, or maybe Tim was just that perceptive. He was tired, a whole night of hacking, as fun as it was will do that to him, but he opened his window anyway.
“What is it Damian, it’s late.”
His eyes changed, the expectant look in them shifted to one of shame with the apology left unsaid but clear in his bright green eyes. Tim would be touched if his cold heart could feel anything now, and Damian knew that. He blamed himself and his family for their neglect, their misjudgment.
“Nothing, I just cam by to make sure you weren’t up to no good,” he said muttering. Tim smiled, aww, the little demon was concerned for him, stubborn brat is stubborn even in the face of his mistakes. Protective in his own way, but he was the only one who know he made them so Tim will spare him the sharpened tongue.
“Get going or Bruce will start getting suspicious.”
“He won’t know where I am,” Damian protested.
Tim scoffed, “Only because I hid your tracks, move along.”
Damian turned to leave, just shy of the edge of the circle of light coming from the street lamp, just then stopping and looking back at Tim.
“You’ll come to the manor soon, won’t you,” he asked, suddenly all innocent and childlike even with the uniform and mask that it took Tim by surprise. He had to pause and recover for a moment.
“Maybe, maybe I will.”
It was his way of saying he won’t ever. Not even for Alfred.
The suggestion was there, but Tim didn't want to see any of them, Batman, nor Nightwing or whatever Jason. He’d been thankful that Dick and Jason had stopped coming to his house, he was beginning to tire of hearing them say empty words to him, especially Jason who tried to bypass the door.
Oh yes, they’d made it very clear they wanted nothing to do with the ‘wannabe’, they had more important work to do than to even entertain the notion of a budding hero. What? He wants to help, he can start by staying out of the way. How very nice Jason, too bad you can’t take those words back.
Sorry Tim, but you’re not cut out for this. Why? Because he wasn’t strong enough? Smart enough? Tortured enough? What Dick, what is it that makes me worthless?
Get out of the way Drake, you’re enough trouble as it is without having to look after another imbecile, I’m more suited to the role than you ever could be. Because of what? Your heritage? It’s all about that isn’t it?
The nightmares, or dreams, or reminders as Tim liked to call them, were incessant. But they did the job. His world different now, one he built for himself, he was a hero no more and he preferred it that way. Damian, the dear brat, had somehow grown attached to Tim suddenly had the bright idea to ask him personally to join them, suddenly springing the question on him. Politely, Tim refused.
There’s no reason for them to change their mind, Tim certainly won’t.
So he continued his work. Alone in the big Drake residence, wrapped in comfortable silence and coffee, secrets of all kinds are valuable when you pry them from unsuspecting people. Blackmail, deadly and everyone wants in on it. He can do that. For a price. An unsightly life but it was the reason he’d built for himself, the will to live without relying on anyone, especially not on heroes. If he wasn’t going to be a hero, then why not take advantage of the unsightly demand out there and make a bit on the side. A bit meaning a lot more than his parents could hope to make in a week.  From the vengeful victim to the highest ranking criminal bully to a mob leader, he’ll cater as long as they don’t ask questions.
One warning, pry too far into his life and he’ll pry back and spill your guts. Pay or you get nothing. Go too far and you can kiss your comfy life goodbye. Tim has eyes everywhere where his little makeshift hero persona had none. No that goody-two-shoes hacker title belonged to oracle now.
He’d chosen to be ruthless, neutral and perhaps that little boy he once was would’ve been appalled at him now but Tim didn’t care anymore. Not when Bruce, Dick and Jason viewed him as nothing but trouble and no amount of guidance or effort would convince them otherwise. They pissed all over Tim’s whole hearted work, his admiration, his love and desire to do good. It left him vulnerable and he nearly did die once. Good old Joker though, he had to thank the bastard. That was a nice wake up call, for Tim and rather late, for them as well.
Ah, Damian. He beat Tim up once when the crazy kid found him once, believed he was a bad egg before he did his homework. It hurt, almost just as much as their distrust and rejection. But having him show up now with nicer things to say was, flattering. Tim’s not sure when Damian realized he might’ve been wrong.
They can knock as many times as their hands can bear it but that stays strictly closed. It’s more important to love and protect oneself than waste that on another. He won’t throw his one life to the wolves, endanger himself for others no more. And heroes always foolishly throw themselves into fire, so Tim will have nothing to do with them. He can apologize to the poor souls caught in Gotham’s life when he burns in hell.
He met a Super, Superboy to be exact. To be frank he already knew a whole lot about the half-kryptonian. Kind of difficult not to when this hybrid was tied with two major figures, names like Lex Luthor and Superman attract a lot of attention and with Tim having ears and eyes on the net, it wasn't hard to dig out info. Connor 'Kon el' Kent was a very funny kind of guy, well as funny as it can get when whizzing poor frightened Tim a few hundred feet up in the air where he'd never been so high up before.
He didn't expect to end up being saved by the budding teen hero, then again, he didn't expect to be caught in some strange hostage situation by some amateur criminals who'd realized they hadn't thought their heist too well through. He had his drones ready to cause chaos on the idiots before Superboy came crashing in and causing said chaos. He did the job though. Not before they'd dragged Tim, because rich men's kids are always prime targets and one of the not so dumb criminals had done his homework. The whole thing came down to them getting pummeled by Superboy and his friends faster than they could say 'I have a gun'. Out of desperation and panic but mostly panic, the guy holding Tim had him thrown right off the building. Which wasn't fair really, he hadn't built drones big enough to help with falling situations. He'd shut his eyes when he felt himself fall into something solid but warm and somewhat soft and comforting.
Yup, it was Superboy himself. Of course just to show off, he zoomed off higher into the sky with Tim with a stupid grin on his face. They flew around for a while mostly for the young hero's amusement before he finally set Tim down. Tim hadn't imagined how talkative the teen was.
Too many jokes, too awkwardly charming in his own way. Stupid muscle-head, Tim thought, stupid stupid Tim for getting all flustered in his arms.
He was willing to forget it except, Kon was not.
“So, uh, that was fun,” Kon said, Tim threw him a look, trying to control his mess of hair.
“I'm glad you enjoyed that, somehow,” he said sarcastically, “I'm pretty sure this happens everyday.”
“Flying all the time gets old after a while, but you kinda made it funny, guess you've never gone flying before?”
Tim shot him a toothy smile, “No one in their sane mind has ever gone flying.”
Kon laughed. It made Tim a bit embarrassed and quite annoyed, but the hero didn't seem to mean any sort of ill, his laughter was genuinely warm and full of enjoyment.
“Man, you're funny, smart kind of funny.”
“It's called wit.”
Kon grinned back at him when his friends, Wondergirl, Impulse and the rest of their team appeared. Wondergirl called to him, rather annoyed and dying to go back to their headquarters while Superboy held them back.
“Hey, what's your name?” he suddenly asked. Tim raised an eyebrow at the question. Why would a hero ask some civilian for their name he'd never see again.
“Tim. Drake.”
“Oh cool. So that big house on the hill-”
“Mansion.”
“-Uh yeah, that's yours right, cool, mind if I stop by sometime?”
At this, Tim was very surprised and confused. His mind screaming at him, no no no, definitely not while some other part of him said, that's great, this is good. In his internal conflict, he somehow managed to say 'oh, okay'. Much too his logical brain's dismay.
“Awesome, I'll see you soon.”
And with that, Kon was gone, up in the air and off with his team. As Tim contemplated his situation, he imagined somewhere in his mind, that a part of him would have loved to be part of that, to be one of the heroes and fighting alongside them as a team. He'd have made a name for himself, helping in exciting missions doing things he'd always dreamed of and making friends with the people he'd once looked up to. But that was all in the past now, he'd given it up for his life now. Soon, he was sure, Superboy would tire of his boring nature.
He came, time and time again, hanging out like a pair of normal kids, sometimes, he'd bring the others along. Cassie, Tim had observed, held deep feelings for her reckless team mate. He avoided talking too much about him with her, but otherwise they were actually a great bunch. Impulse, Bart, was restless, a side-effect of his abilities, same as the flash. Raven was reserved but caring. Beast boy, secretly crushing on Raven, was just as, if not more so than Kon, full of jokes. They each and all had their wonderful sides. Tim felt so awful in their presence, no doubt, oblivious to what he did in the shadows.
They were seeing too much of him. He was negative, brooding and sarcastic but that never seemed to deter them. Especially Raven, seemed to see right through him, while the rest must have been immune to negativity because he continued to have strange guests over. Not that his parents would care, they were gone so long and so often.
Birthdays, holidays and Christmas' were no longer a one man ting for him, disturbingly, he couldn't bring himself to dislike it. Soon, like an idiot, he revealed his skills, helped them in secret with their battles, before the cat got out of the bag. The Titans came to rely on his 'MAD WIZ SKILLZ' as Beast boy put it, and soon, it was like he was part of their little team. He tried to push them away, but they persisted, for some reason drawn to him as he found himself drawn to them. Like a moth to a flame, especially to Kon. The half-kryptonian held some strange admiration for Tim and it was began to show as the worked together more and more. The light touches and strong embraces were starting to affect Tim the more time they spent together. This couldn't be happening. Tim realized to his horror, the relationship was deepening beyond his control. No mister, no thank you, this hero business is supposed to be temporary. Tim was drinking double the amount of coffee, more than what is considered healthy or sane with the stress his predicament was causing.
“Hey, where are your parents? I never see them around,” Kon asked one dreaded day. Tim considered the answer for a while before giving it.
“They don’t come home often. Mom and Dad are both busy, you know, with their jobs. Archaeology, there’s a lot of travelling involved.”
“That’s pretty bad, I mean, what about Christmas or your birthdays? Not even for them?”
Tim shook his head, “Not even for them.”
He should be bitter, if it was somebody else, some other child and their mom or dad forgot, they’d be throwing tantrums. But it’s always been this way, so many times even Tim’s forgotten. If it weren’t for some nagging reminders from the various maids and housekeepers they hired, he’d have forgotten about Christmas, Halloween and so on. Sometimes, even they didn’t remind him, so he went on, living each and every day the same way. Routine. He could live with that, it’s what he’s used to.
Uncharacteristically, Kon gave him the look of a dog put out, and when Tim asked, he only responded by throwing his arms around Tim and giving him the tightest hug anyone had given him for a long time.
“It’s okay, I’ll make sure we celebrate them all with you.”
‘We’ being Kon and the Titans, as it turned out from then onwards. Tim didn’t mind.
Most of the time, he didn’t care, didn’t react. A smile is natural, and can mean a million different things, it’s okay, everything is fine, I don’t really mind, whatever, politely go away, I guess this is nice. But those were his good days. On his bad days, Tim locked himself in. Tried to smother himself in his bedsheets. Curse them as well, they were as close to a hug as he’d get alone. Some twisted part of him wanted a knife, a bullet in his chest. Pain anywhere but inside of him, clawing its way out. He wanted out. Sometimes even the unsightly work he did, couldn’t chase the feeling of neglect away and those days, he’d remember the exact moment ha gave up. Yes, heroes are for idealists, and a kid, a weak one like him would never fit in.
Those bad days, sometimes Kon would find him, curled up trying to hack his lungs out. Sometimes sobbing, sometimes screaming. What a broken thing. No good.
But he’d feel the warm touch, the soothing strength gently lifting him and holding him until he stopped shaking. He was so cold compared to Kon. What did the young hero ever see in him? He could only see his broken, jagged edges, designed to cut himself and others. Still, Kon never left and the warmth as well as the odd feeling that progressed beyond fondness spread through him, stepping into dangerous territory.
Something happened, and it was all wrong. Quite frankly, it was putting everyone on edge. Damian did well to locate the drop point the thugs were supposed to be waiting. A whole cargo of arms and heavy weapons for Black Mask. Batman wasn’t surprised, Jason, Red Hood now, had dealings with the criminal spearhead, and they were many. But something was wrong, there were no men, no orders being yelled in fact, it was far too quiet for an operation like this.
The shipment should be in the warehouse.
Batman pressed the device close to his ear, absolutely no communication was coming from inside. If the leader was on the phone, it would have been picked up on the frequency catcher. Could the gang have picked up on their presence? If so, there would definitely be more shouting but it was silent.
“Nightwing, Robin, take the back, Hood, make sure no one is leaving the perimeter, no bullets, you hear?”
There was a groan on the comms before Jason answered, “Sure, Bats, whatever you say.”
“I’m going in.”
“Be careful in there, I have a bad feeling about this,” came Dick’s voice, uncertain and betraying the note of fear.
Bruce didn’t answer as he slinked inside through the roof. Not a single light, not a single sound. But  as he sneaked further down, closer to the floor, the smell hits him, and hits him hard. Blood, the pungent and overwhelming stench of blood and piss. He hesitates as his hand hovers over the flashlight before turning it on. What greets him is a scene that is familiar on the worst of nights, the stuff of nightmares, enough to make a man lose his lunch if Bruce didn’t discipline himself. It’s not only bloody, it’s a gory mess. The men, or what’s left of them in torn bits and legs, tossed about like broken toys.
“Dear god,” he whispered.
“Batman? What’s going on?” Nightwing called through the comms.
A blade sharp and resilient enough to slice through bone like butter as evidenced by one poor man’s head, halved like a gourd. Batman moved forward, guts squelching beneath his boots.
Eyes, hearts, tongues, gouged out, cut and torn, some were thrown against the walls, the crates were splattered with innards while, as Bruce investigated, some were clearly missing. The cargo untouched was left in the vehicles, the doors still ajar. They must have been busy unloading when this all went downhill.
Bruce’s eyes traced the floor. Not enough footprints, there should be many footprints in the blood, it couldn’t be done by just one person. No, not unless they were up against a new monster.
“They’re all dead, everybody stay alert out there.”
Batman looked up at the lights. All of them were busted, smashed, whoever or whatever this...thing was, they operated in darkness. Mask’s men don’t. But for a brief moment they must have seen the attacker, the flashlight that rolled at his feet now busted and shattered as well was evidence. He looked back down and met the gaze of a man in mid scream. One among many screaming faces right before they died, this wasn’t about seeing their enemy, something scared them witless before it ripped them apart.
If it was anybody else, they wouldn’t have noticed the three pairs of feet hitting the floor, silent as can be, the boys had trained well but not enough to escape Bruce’s notice.
“Oh my GOD!” Nightwing exclaimed the moment he turned his flashlight on.
“I...haven’t seen this kinda mess since the last slasher movie,” Jason said, his voice managing to not give way to his shock.
Robin on the other hand, had just lost his dinner. He’s used a sword on a living person before but it was all clean cuts and honourable deaths for him, not this horrific mess. Bruce regarded the boy with worry. Maybe he shouldn’t have let him come into the warehouse, and now he’s essentially contaminated a part of the crime scene. He’ll have to take care of that later. Nightwing busily patted and rubbed Damian’s back while the boy was recovering, while Hood and Batman began to search around for clues. Video footage if any was needed, with all the gore littering the floor and the shipment having been left alone, there was little to gleam from the scene.
“Looks like whoever did this wasn’t interested in guns,” Hood said casually.
They tried looking for any hidden cameras on the bodies though, nothing. There was a phone still in one man’s hand, slumped by a heavy crate. It looked like he was in the middle of trying to call someone. There was one other thing that might give away what happened in the warehouse. Bruce crossed his metaphorical fingers. He went straight for the operations room, the office where one would keep an eye on all the comings and goings in the office. There was paper and files left carelessly on the shelves and the screens lining the desks were off. He played the footage that was there but after the ten mark, the device was turned off abruptly. He grunted in disappointment, he knew there was a chance the cameras were deactivated to prevent their movements from being recorded, but he’d hoped they weren’t smart enough. As of now, they had a bigger mystery on their hands than Black Mask’s secret smuggling operations and more than likely, once Mask hears about this, he’s going to be pissed. Nothing else here, anything more and the police won’t be happy with the amount of tampering going on. Batman regrouped with the others, outside the warehouse. The street lamp, the only one that wasn’t shot served to highlight all four vigilantes. Nightwing was nervous and so was Robin, Hood’s face was hidden underneath the helmet but his body was tense. For once, the night was not kind, the silence was deafening and oppressive, it reminded him that there were other things, other kinds of fear waiting underneath her.
“Wait, what’s that?” Robin said, pointing into the distance.
All eyes turned to look and for a moment, they could see nothing but the water, the moon reflecting over it. Then movement just at the surface drew their attention, a small shape broke through the surface. Barely visible in the darkness, it stayed floating, almost motionless. Then rose higher, a face still indistinguishable but indeed a face, blue eyes shining brightly and it was staring right at them. Something about those eyes was familiar and yet alien to them and, as Nightwing and Hood began to tremble, it unsettled them all. The moon seemed to shift as the light fell on it gradually. Midnight black hair, blue eyes and a straight nose, young and mature, a young man with knowing blue eyes that once held a child’s admiring light. He dove under the water just as Bruce felt himself reach out for the phantom. Vanishing beneath the ripples. Only now noticing the blood trailing on the ground.

the 1th season was my season
[the notorious ranting about season of Supergirl and how i don’t know why i’m still watching]
There’s this thing about Supergirl, first season, when I started to watch like a year later (I guess they were going to 2th season and all the “Who’s gonna be Superman???” stuff). Lemme explain: I don’t like superheroes, I have no respect for Superman or Batman and anyone who wears different underpants on the uniform pants (Makes no sense! Why superheroes? Why?!), my favorite character of comic books is Daredevil (Far from a usual hero) and the one who get me at DC is the Martian Manhunter (Or how we used to call here in Brazil: Ajax, o Marciano).
And there was Supergirl, the brand new series of DCU to save our geek lives.
I’ve always watched the 1th season as a story about an immigrant. Someone who lost every reference of living and part of her story while escaping, we see this kind of stories at news everyday, Syria (nowadays), here in my country there’s a lot of those who left the place they used to call Home and goes anywhere where they can find for many reasons (Most for trying to make money and escape from poverty). Immigrant story, right? That’s Kara from 1th season.
She’s not homeless, but kinda lost of her doings, her belongings, her story. Fragments of a destroyed world and tales of super awesome stuff her cousin did and still doing, must be hard to step out of shadow of someone for so long. And then there’s Alex. She’s Kara big sister, the best sister if you ask me about sisters relationships, still overshadowing since she came to Earth: Kara needs to fit, to be low profile, to understand that all what she lived once it’s over. Not going back, nope, forget it. Alex is there to reminder her every single episode that she can be more of it, more than the regular adults expectations. She can be Kara Zor-El, but most of all, she can be herself. And that's beautiful to watch.
The 1th season i’ve watched called me out for my own story, me and my family have moved of houses so many times we lost count, my big sister often tells me we never gonna settle as the other families because of it, sometimes I desperately wonder when I’ll fit to somewhere, for someone, I don’t know, maybe be normal, you know? Just like Kara from 1th season. That’s what we call somehow representation.
I’ve watched while I was very upset about how my life were going, how to fit, be the average seems so better than outstanding (and getting riled up for it),to be normal was a quiet and nice place to be. And every episode of 1th season gives us the completely opposite, empowerment, full knowlegment of our habilities, and ffs gawd Cat Grant and her weird motivational speeches! Every single episode hooked me so deeply cause i've saw something I was missing: I could be myself and be happy for it.
The Danvers's sisters relationship got me good too, I have a big sister, we don't get along so much since I was 13, I missed her so badly, but when we grow up we're trying to figuring things out. I still don't know how to get along with her, and seeing how supportative Alex and Kara are with each other goes to my soft spot. The 1th season was that mostly, their relationship, their trust about each other, their struggle to be as a family even with all the worse odds (The House of El dysfunctional family, hello?). It remind me I also can be better too. I loved Alex Danvers character at the first sign, I want to be like her someday.
And all this 1th season was like a blast to me, as a viewer and as a storyteller, as a person. That season means a lot to me, for real. Because I've grow up watching television shows that never gave too much attention to these particular topics (And match with my own living): how to be the outsider, having the most wonderful sister support ever and not get lost. And includind the space dad J'onn J'onzz? My favorite League of Justice character EVER?! That plot twist was amazing, right at the solar plexus feelings for good!
Aaaaaaand the season 2 comes.
The writers just... i really don't know what happened right there, it's just... The 2th season it's a completely different show. I can't relate anymore to anyone, I can't see anything as a nice way to keep the hopes up, I definitely can't stand the way how Kara's development was subsided by some misogynist plot ever (FFS of Rao! We are talking about the Girl of Steel, she should not bend like that!) and well here we goes Alex Danvers, my true hero, get out of the closet. Oh well... We've seen this situation before, I finally related to that too, i was pretty older when I finally got the nerve and say out loud I was gay, so been there, done that Alex! All the hugs for ya honey! I hope they didn't fuck your coming out story with cliches. It was the best I could ask for them (writers), do not fuck with this plot. Because this plot it's already doomed since ever, we don't wanna go there again. Make a change, please?
We saw how it ends, right? And I don't know where exactly the writers and producers wanna go with this mess of plot they invented. I just want to say I miss 1th season Supergirl, because that was the truly storytelling of someone trying to figuring out to be human, as we normal boring humans do everyday, even not realizing it, but we do. That's the power of some of media does to us everyday, shows like Supergirl has all the potential of bringing nice messages and bring people together not only for the fun of watching, but because maybe the story that is telling is about them, about us, everybody, somehow.
(BTW thank you Kate McGrath and Odette Annable for saving the plot, I wish Krys Marshall was there since the very beginning - that would be a A+ of dramatic background for the Worldkillers)

Saturday morning finally rolled around and I wanted nothing more than to sleep in, as it turns out, showing Jon around our obnoxiously large campus took a toll, that and the added stress of everyone and they mama asking me about him like I was his keeper, made me tired in like, seven different ways.
I rolled deeper into my soft covers, ready to drift back into the dreamless state I was in but the universe, of course, had other plans.
And by universe I mean my mother.
Just as sleep grasped at my brain Redbone by Childish Gambino suddenly began blaring from a few rooms over and I rolled over with a sad groan, today was obviously gonna be a cleaning day. This was her subtle way of telling me to wake my ass up and come into the kitchen for breakfast, then directions, if I didn’t get up in the next few minutes she’d make her way upstairs with the speaker blasting as loud as it could and dance her way around my room till I inevitably got up to join her, morning breath and all.
I stretched my limbs, enjoying every crack and pop my body made in response, the sore feeling temporarily making me forget what I was doing.Once my brain caught up to speed with my body I went through the basics of my morning routine, my hair was mushed in a sloppy bun and I didn’t bother switching out of my PJ’s, knowing the majority of the day would be spent inside. I entered the kitchen to quite the sight, my mother swung her body to the rhythmic beat of the song, carelessly singing into her spatula. I contemplated recording her to laugh at later but decided against it, and slid over to her, my fuzzy socks smoothly gliding me across the wooden floor. She finally noticed me, not stopping her performance, she simply shoved her ‘microphone’ in my face, we goofed off for the rest of the song before she remembered the breakfast slowly burning on the stove.I pulled myself up on a random stool and rested my head on the cool marble countertop as she scrambled to save what was left of the eggs. She shuffled her way to her phone, which was responsible for the wonderful tunes floating through our apartment before turning down the volume,“Damn that song, always distracts me.” She snorted plating up the breakfast and sliding it a few inches from my face.“Well, it is a bop, so I can’t blame ya.” I shoveled the food into my mouth, the warmth quickly waking me all the way up. She skipped over to gently kiss my forehead before turning back to her plate. I scooped up the last if my food happy to have had it but sad to see it gone. I washed my dish, slinging my hands around to dry them before I questioned her,“So lemme guess, we’re cleaning today?” She nodded taking a long sip of her coffee.“Ah yes, I’ll be handling that, as for you my wonderful child, you are gonna go run some errands for me.” She spoke not missing a beat. I mentally cursed.'great now I had to put on real people clothes.’ “Can we trade? I don’t wanna put on pants.” I tried to whine but the quick look I got from her quickly shut me down.“You don’t gotta get dressed, walk outta here looking like that. Don’t matter to me, as long as you deposit a check before the bank gets busy, get some groceries, get the cat some food- oh! Also, stop by your job and drop some books off for me.” She listed off not looking up from her phone, straight-faced until she turned to look up.“What?” “Our tasks seem heavily unbalanced.” She stared at me, unfazed, yeesh her glare could make Batman nervous. “Oh I’m sorry did you want to clean the bathroom, living room, kitchen, and vacuum all the carpets- oh wait let’s not forget all the laundry we need to do and-” “Okay okay I get it.” I laughed rising off the stool with a final stretch, before running over and quickly kissing her cheek. She swatted me away cursing at me for nearly knocking her off her seat, I couldn’t help but laugh all the way to my room. I kicked my socks off, the sun shining in through the window warmed the room slightly, I stood in the light enjoying the soft warmth before it occurred to me that- holy shit the sun’s shining. I ran over to my window, to my surprise the gray clouds parted ever so slightly showing just a smidge of bright blue. As childish as it was, this filled me with some kinda fascination, Gotham rarely got sun, I took this as a sign, today would be a good one. I yawned shaking myself out of the daze and walked over to my desk, a bunch of unorganized yet still somehow understandable notes lay sprawled out reminding me of different things to do, however, what caught my eye was the somewhat crumpled business card Bird boy gave me, it sat untouched since I set it down that night.A silly part of me felt guilty for not calling, I mean he straight up pulled an uncle Ben on me, “With great power- blah blah blah.” I muttered flicking the tiny card so it faced downward. I plopped myself on my bed, unplugging my phone from the charger and procrastinated my shower by mindlessly going through the seemingly endless notifications, my eyes found a random message I received a few hours earlier, I checked the it wondering which one of my friends could possibly be up that early, however I didn’t have to wonder long, Jon had sent a simple but adorable 'Good morning’ text. Smiling I thought of the boy, we’d been practically joined at the hip the past week, and I couldn’t find much to complain about, he was a really sweet person, someone who saw the  positive in everything and made Gotham seem brighter- yuck I sound super cheesy but I swear, that’s how you had to describe him.I won’t lie, at first, all that optimism was off-putting, my outlook on life was far from bleak but he managed to find joy in every and anything that crossed our way, even living with the Wayne kid couldn’t bring him down. Realizing I still hadn’t responded, I quickly shot a 'Hello’ back, asking what on earth he was doing up as early as he was, according to him his body was so used to the farm life, it was muscle memory at this point. I paused to imagine him as a farm boy, but the image of him chasing chickens and pigs quickly turned into him leaning against a tractor, sleeves rolled up, sweat collecting at his brow, curly black hair sticking out in every which way. I cleared my throat snapping myself back to reality. 'note to self, try not to thirst over your friends (y/n).’ I jokingly asked if he planned to spend his first free day in Gotham hanging around the storm cloud also known as Damian Wayne and he quickly shot the idea down. “We don’t really talk unless we have to."I furrowed my brows shooting back, "Man that sucks, you think you’d at least be sorta friends with the guy you’re sharing a roof with.” He simply responded.
“ :’) ”
I snorted, gathering my clothes in a bundled heap and finally headed off to the bathroom.
After a brisk shower, I redressed myself, now much more appropriately than the Superman pajama pants I was previously rocking.I checked my phone once again to see Jon had sent another message.“Would you mind hanging out today? That is if you’re not already sick of me :p .” I tugged my bottom lip between my teeth as I thought of a way to squeeze him into my schedule, before sighing in disappointment.“Get tired of you? Psh not happening, I can’t get enough.” I snorted at my text, he was way to easy to tease.I could see his face changing color in my head, quickly I continued texting as I slipped into my shoes. “But alas, moms is making me do errands all day ;( .” I shoved my phone into my jacket pocket, securely tying the laces of my sneakers, surprised when my phone suddenly buzzed again.“I wouldn’t mind coming along! As long as I didn’t get in your way that is.” I couldn’t help but smile at his words,“It’s just boring stuff though.” “Oh come on, nothing’s boring with you."I couldn’t fight the small smile from taking over my face.He said stuff like that all the time- it always threw me for a loop, I mean the kid would freeze on sight if you complimented him but damn could he say some smooth shit- and the worst part was he wasn’t even trying to flirt! He was just a sweetheart. I brushed off what others might have seen as flirting because he was so genuine to everyone. I contemplated his offer, it wouldn’t do any harm to have the extra company, plus he seemed to want to get away from the Wayne kid, and I couldn’t really blame him for that.So I sent him my street address and my apartment number telling him to come whenever so we could head out, and yes I’ll be the first to admit I should probably have been more careful, after all, I had just met him and he could very easily be a serial killer but if you knew him in person, even just for five minutes you’d see the kid didn’t have a malicious bone in his body. I spent the time waiting for his arrival grabbing the books my mom needed to be returned and the check she needed deposited, before I knew it there was a knock at the door, I jumped up eager to get out the apartment before my mom could see Jon, knowing her she’d interrogate the hell out of him, and I didn’t wanna scare the kid off, at least not this early into the friendship. I made it just in time to see her open the door, his bright blue eyes widened in surprise before instantly sticking out his hand."Morning, ma'am! My name’s Jon Kent, I’m a friend of your daughters.” She shook his hand before looking back at me, a knowing smirk on her face. Much to my dismay she opened the door wider and welcomed him inside. “(Y/n) you weren’t planning on ditching your chores for some cute boy now were you?” “Ma.,” I warned grabbing my keys and then Jon’s arm. “He’s actually here to help me out, this is my mom Jon, Jon this is my mother, okay? Okay. Bye.” She grabbed my collar before I could run, dragging Jon back along with me. “What’s the rush? I wanna meet your new friend.” He smiled, nervously shoving his hands in his pockets.“ I hope you don’t mind, your daughters been helping me out since I moved here, figured it was high time I repaid her.” My mother’s eyes raked over his tall form, examining him like he was under a microscope. See she had this way about her, she could read people in an instant, tell if their intentions were pure or not, I couldn’t help but hold my breath as I  waited for her response.
And just like that, she leaned back against the countertop, her defensive posture melted into a relaxed one. “Well that’s awful kind of you young man, you kids have fun- be back before sunset I don’t wanna worry."He nodded, still smiling "Yes ma'am.” He turned to me and grabbed the heavy book bag from my hands with a wink. I went to follow him to the door only to be stopped once again,“When were you planning on telling me about him?” “Uh I don’t know mom, I didn’t think it was important for you to meet all my friends.” She smoothed her hands over my jacket. She looked up, a warm look on her face.“ You sure you’re just friends?” I playfully rolled my eyes, leaning over to kiss her cheek.“Yes, Ma.” She sighed looking out the door.“ Shame, you two would have made some cute grandbabies.” I groaned, “MOM YA NASTY- you’re so lucky he didn’t hear that.” I gave her a reluctant kiss on the cheek, practically running out the door, her loud laugh rang out in the hallway where Jon patiently stood against the wall, his face astoundingly red for some reason.“Sorry about that- she’s kinda protective.” He shrugged, his face still bright as a set of Christmas lights. “It’s no problem at all, my mom’s the same way.”
With that, we were on our way.
We passed the walk to the bank with random conversations he was in the middle of telling me a wild story about his short time living with one of Gotham’s most elite. “The first night I got there I was convinced he was some sort of robot who’s only emotional setting was irritable.” I laughed, embarrassingly loud might I add, but I couldn’t find it in me to care.“Wait- what? Can I have some context on that one?” He laughed, running a hand through his locks before continuing.     “Well I grew up in a family that always shared, we talk it out if we have a problem but this guy-” He huffed, gesturing wildly with his hands.“- He acts like he hates my guts but when I try to find out why, he gets even more upset!” I gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “Don’t feel bad, that’s just who he is.” His face fell so I quickly added on,“Well don’t give up- he’s most likely never had someone like you around so it’s probably new, knowing your ass, you’ll get him to warm up in no time. "His eyes looked up, hopeful."You really think so?” “Well duh, who could resist you?” I pinched at his cheeks like my grandma would to me, he pried my hands off with an embarrassed huff, at this point I could see the shiny outer walls of the bank, now only a few blocks away. We walked in a comfortable silence for a while when out of nowhere a question popped up in my mind.“Hey can I ask you a kinda personal question.” He glanced over with a small smile. “Go for it.” “Where exactly are your parents, did they move down with you?” He sighed, a somber smile graced his features. “Nah, they’re back in Metropolis, they knew I had a better chance to- um learn out here.” I nodded. “Do you miss Metropolis?” He sighed, looking around the somewhat crowded streets, before looking back to me.“Yes and no, I’ve always been curious about Gotham, I mean it does make the news every year.” We both laughed before he continued.“There’s actually a lot of similarities between the cities.”“Oh yeah like what?” “So far the people are the most alike.” I glanced at him puzzled,“Really?"He nodded,"They’re both just really strong people, from what I can tell so far at least.” I smiled at this, and soon we were in line at the city bank, waiting patiently for our turn. I took the time to study the elderly couple waiting in front of us, their hands interlocked the entire time, I had the urge to tell them just how cute they were being, so I tapped the woman on the shoulder.“I’m sorry to bother you guys but I just had to say, you two are the most adorable couple.” The woman smiled warmly at me, her eyes were as young as could be when she glanced at the man next to her. “That’s so sweet of you to say, thank you. I’m Gloria, this is my husband Modesto.” He waved to us, an equally bright smile on his face. “Well I must say, you two are quite the pair as well, it’s nice to see such bright people together.” I smiled, looking at the beet-faced Jon, I was about to question the sudden change in color when I realized what the older woman meant.“Oh no-we’re just friends, but still thank you!” She leaned into her husband, who held her gently, “That’s how it starts isn’t it dear?” He laughed, grabbing her hands, bringing them to his lips. “I chased her for years, too chicken to say anythin’ thankfully my Gloria here is a smart one, she made the move for me.” I grinned at the couple, now lost in their own world, before turning back to my companion. “Thanks again for coming with me- you didn’t have to but you made this day something fun.” He playfully bumped my shoulder.“What are friends for if not the exact reason for making mundane stuff interesting?” “That’s a very good point-” my response was interrupted, a sound like thunder came from the entrance, the glass doors shattered into thousands of little pieces, people ducked and dived, trying their best to hide behind the kiosks and tables scattered around the place. Faster than I could register I was behind Jon, he stood tall, facing the five armed thugs responsible for all the destruction in the air.One of the men casually lifted his shotgun in the high above him before firing into the ceiling. The panicked screaming and collective confusion came to an abrupt halt. “Alright ladies and gents, we all know how this is gonna go, if you’d like to keep the contents of your head inside of your body, toss any and all valuables in the sack my colleague is so kindly passing around.” With sniffles and whimpers the people complied, tossing their things in with shaky hands, the masked man got to me and Jon, I glared tossing my phone and grocery money in with the coldest stare I could muster.
Jon’s POV
When I first heard the shot tear through the glass door my immediate response was to grab (y/n) and toss her behind me, I didn’t have time to think about it, I was trying my best to calm the frantically beating organ in my chest, I kept my eyes on the people, praying none of them made any sort of move to be a hero, that never ended well. I knew I could take a few of them down but 1. That would give me up to the public and 2. I was easily outnumbered. Too many things could go wrong with an outright attack, so I held back and waited for a plan to form in my head. One that didn’t get anyone hurt, and my identity exposed. 'seriously Jon? Are you worried about keeping up your secret identity? People’s lives are at stake, it doesn’t matter if you get in trouble later if you can save them now.’ I gave my thoughts a small nod of understanding, while at the same time trying to hype myself up for whatever stupid thing I was about to do, sure my dad was the man of Steel but that’s only half of who I was- my powers were unpredictable at best and some days they just didn’t work.I had the hardest time flying but that was also when I was my fastest if I could get it to work, I had a chance to take all their weapons giving the civilians a chance to escape. I took a deep breath when the man stealing from everyone got to us, (Y/n) hastily tossed her belongings in, I threw my phone, but the guy saw the book bag slung over my shoulder. “We said all of it, toss it in kid.” I couldn’t help the scoff that left my mouth.“They’re books, see for yourself.” I tossed the bag on the floor and the guy curiously rummaged through it, while he was distracted I tried my hardest to make myself fly, but there was nothing. No tingle, no feeling of weightlessness, just nothing. I felt sweat start to gather on my brow, the previously kneeling man in front of me barked out a laugh.“Don’t shit yourself kid- you can keep your stupid books.” A cold wave of fear rolled over me as he walked away, if my powers weren’t working this entire situation just got a lot more dangerous. The guy who looked to be calling the shots scratched his head in thought before realizing something with a snap of his fingers.“Oh right, get one of those shit heads to open the safe in the back-” he gestured to the shaking tellers behind their desks with his gun.“ - and if they try to cause any trouble we start shooting hostages.” Whispers of fear rang through the crowd, the tellers all looked at each other in panic, but made no move to listen to his request. He sighed, rubbing his face through the cliche ski mask, eyes scanning over the crowd before  landing on the sweet woman from before, tearing her from her husband’s grip, she winced when he pressed the weapon into her face, I cringed at the loud sound of it cocking. “Now.” He seethed through gritted teeth, like a bat out of hell one of the tellers sprinted out from the safety behind their desk and unlocked the door to the back room. The leader, all the while still painfully holding onto the woman, casually whistled, slowly walking around the mass of shivering people, he chuckled at the terror he was causing. Minutes passed with no other action, clearly bothering the masked psycho. He grumbled before forcing the elderly woman to her knees, “If you don’t hurry up your stores gonna get a new paint job!” He yelled towards the room where the teller and his man disappeared into. The crowd gasped in horror, Modesto reached out to his wife only to be roughly kicked away by one of the other criminals. Gloria sobbed at the sight of her beloved in pain. It made me see red. But I knew if I jumped on the roach-like jerk I wanted too, it would only make things worse. Never in my life had I felt more useless, Especially when (y/n) started to talk drawing his attention to her.
(Y/n) POV.
The light had been frantically shifting this entire time, one second it was around the leaders gun the next it was around his throat, it bounced around from person to person, object to object, like it was looking for the best possible way out if the situation like it was running every possible scenario. I groaned in frustration, the ping pong actions of the light were beginning to give me a headache, I shifted on my knees trying to look around the room and locate every one of the bastards, I can’t remember when they made us get down on the floor but from the soreness in my knees, it felt like time was passing by in slow motion. It was only when the leader grabbed a random hostage tearing her from her husband- no it wasn’t some random person it was Gloria, the kind woman who sure as hell didn’t deserve what was happening to her.“Hey, asshole.” I didn’t recognize my own voice, there was confidence in the words I spoke that sure as fuck didn’t belong in the situation I was smack dab in the middle of. He turned away from the crying civilians, tossing Gloria off to one of the other men, before stomping over, he leaned down close enough for me to see the green of his eyes.“You called darling’.” I ignored the dark rasp of his voice and the chills it sent up my spine and put on a brave face. “You’re about to make off with a shit ton of cash right?” “That I am doll face.” I could hear his grin in his voice, I cringed at him before continuing.“Well if you know you’re gonna get away with it just leave - if you kill her, or anyone else for that matter, your chances of escape go down by 90%."He leaned back, the fake shock in his eyes was obvious."Oh, and how would you know that sweetheart?” He laughed out, a ring of chuckles followed from his men. “Because I’m not an idiot. If the cops aren’t on their way already they sure as shit will be if any more gunshots ring out- you also have to account for the fact that the place you’re robbing is in the middle of downtown Gotham and people are bound to notice the bank getting held up by some hacks in dollar store ski masks.” He looked down at me with a sneer, his laughter ceasing instantaneously. He looked to his men, all equally dumbfounded before motioning for them to return Gloria to the floor. I sighed in relief before I was yanked up harshly by my arm.The man said nothing as he dragged me away, my eyes briefly met Jon’s wide ones. The man tugging me by my arm spun me around to face him, he raised his gun to my head, pressing the cold barrel into my skin. “Let this be a lesson- being a smart ass  can get you killed.” The light worked faster than my brain could register, I listened to my instincts and squeezed my eyes tight, Feeling that all too familiar heat building in my body again. This time though, it was instant. Even with my eyes tightly clamped together, I could see the bright, unforgiving light that suddenly flashed from- well somewhere on my body. My brain was working much faster than usual, the screams of the confused hostages and even the armed assailants, fell behind like background noise, I opened my eyes to see them all stumbling around, blinking in confusion, the man who was about to introduce my face to a bullet now laid on the floor, he screamed the loudest. “My eyes- I can’t see! Fucking bitch what did you do?!"I took the chance to kick his gun from the spot it landed, but before I could move my foot it shot in the opposite direction of him without me ever actually making contact, the blur of light that trailed behind the object gave me a pretty good idea of what happened. I acted quickly, while the light felt like cooperating with me, I focused on the rest of the guns, yanking them behind me, the light enveloped two of the goons heads before bringing them together with a resounding crack. One of the men stumbled in my direction, it scared me shitless, but no sooner had the fear registered in my head did he go flying into the remaining man, knocking them both out the window the haze faded away, I could hear the confused groans of the people behind me as their sight slowly returned, I breathed a sigh of relief, turning to see Jon, staring directly at me, a look of shock on his usually grinning face. For one reason or another, he could see me. Shit. "D-Did you see that?"He said nothing, mouth still agape, but he nodded nonetheless."All of it?” I asked wincing at the obvious answer. He nodded again, clearing his throat before hesitantly rising. “No it- don’t worry it’s okay.” I shakily exhaled, the adrenaline of whatever it is that just happened making me buzz. I felt my breath get shallow, the reality of it all was quickly leading me down the path of a panic attack.“I- I don’t know what’s happening that’s never- that doesn’t…” I struggled to voice all the crazy shit running through my head, Jon took a few steps towards me, gently placing his hands on my shoulders, “Hey- look we’re all okay, everything’s okay you just need to breathe.” I nodded taking choppy breaths. Jon met my eyes, a kind smile on his face, he opened his mouth to say something but the calm atmosphere was very short lived. “What the fuck happened here?” The man who took the teller in the back had returned, he looked at his fallen comrades trying to piece together what had happened before his eyes found the only people standing, He shot his gun with a sneer I tried to shove Jon from the direction of the bullet but I was surprised, too slow, he faced the gun man, the bullet bouncing off him like it was made of rubber, I was just as shocked as the man he was marching toward, with a swift punch to the chest, the guy hit the wall in pack of him leaving a rather noticable dent. I almost felt bad.
Almost.
Jon turned to me, huffing, the strange look of anger on his face melted away leaving shock, fear, and something else I couldn’t register.I opened my mouth, but all the questions in my mind refused to make their way out.I turned away without a word, and walked out the remains of the front door, I heard his loud footsteps crunch against the glass as he ran after my fastly pacing form. “(Y/n) wait-” “Nope.” I replied in a shaky voice, not daring to look back. “Listen to me we need to go back- just wait for a second!” He grabbed my arm, halting me in my tracks, the recoil was so hard I hit his chest.“I’m not going back there.” He stared at me, eyebrows furrowed in concern. “We have too, we need to give our statements to the police-” I ripped my way from his grip. “I am not talking to the damn cops.” He stared at me in disbelief,“We have too! It’s what’s right."It was my turn to stare at him like he was crazy."If I tell them what happened they’ll lock me up in some science lab for the rest of my life- in case you missed it GCPD hate anything to do with superheroes, no way- it’s not happening.” He ran a tired hand through his hair, staring at me with pleading eyes.“I wouldn’t let that happen to you.” I scoffed shoving my hands in my pockets,“There are some things even you can’t do Kent, and in case you missed it, they’ll drag your bulletproof ass in too-” I rolled my eyes turning away.“-Stay and talk if you want, but I wasn’t here.” I continued on my path trying not to jump at the sirens sounding behind me. I made it home, my mom greeted me with a smile before running to me at the sight of my puffy face, as soon as I got to my floor I let the tears fall unapologetically, the stress of it all weighed heavy on my shoulders as I trudged in the door. She let me cry into her chest for a while before I calmed down enough t explain what happened.“I just- I got so scared I totally freaked. I’m sorry about the errands.” I laughed lightly, sniffling at the end.She chuckled warmly, wiping at my eyes, her gaze was sad, loving but sad. “Baby I couldn’t give more of a damn about the groceries- you’re the one I’m concerned about, are you okay?"I shrugged, rubbing my puffed up eyes."I don’t know….I’ve never- that’s the strongest my powers have been, it was like I was on autopilot- what if I hurt the wrong people?” I quickly began to choke up again. She shushed me, grabbing my hands in her warm ones.“You don’t have a mean cell in your body baby, you couldn’t hurt innocent people if you had too."I said nothing, leaning into her, I wrapped my arms around her midsection, taking comfort in how little I felt. Her hand found my hair, softly petting my head as she told me hilarious stories of my older siblings and their problems growing up. "Everyone goes through their own struggles in life, some people let these challenges beat them down, consume them. Those are the people who try to face them alone, the people who fail. What a lot of the world fails to see is the beauty of life, we’re faced with hardships yes but the blessing is we don’t have to be alone with it all. "I raised my body into a sitting position, wiping my face on the sleeves of my sweater. "What are you saying?” She sighed, eyeing me thoughtfully before tucking a loose curl behind her ear. “I’m saying, you should take those nice people up on their offer.” I stared at her confused before it hit me like a train. The card.Robin, Nightwing. “Wait how did you-” “You should know by now nothing slips past me, Especially when my baby’s involved.” I looked at her, then down at my hands, the buzzing feeling from earlier had died down tremendously, but it never fully disappeared, something happened today, it changed something inside me. That much I could feel. I sighed nodding at the older woman, she leaned over to give my forehead a sloppy kiss, making me smile uncontrollably. “I trust you to make the right decision, for you.” And with that, she left my room. I sat there for a minute taking the time to unwind, I flopped back on my bed, my eyes trailing the window before glancing at the night sky, as I played with the hem of my sweater, the thought occurred to me, the first blue sky Gotham had seen in ages and I missed it. I smiled slightly, I preferred the gray anyway. Sooner than I thought I found myself on my roof, a plethora of snacks, the thickest blanket I owned and the damned little card that had kept me up at night thinking more times than I was comfortable admitting. I dragged myself to the loveseat, the fabric was cold to the touch as I carelessly plopped my body down, I made myself a nest in my blanket and popped a few Skittles in my mouth, I glanced up towards the surprisingly clear sky, usually you’d be lucky to get a glimpse of the stars but tonight they were on full display. I let the mostly silent universe calm my mind down enough to pick up my phone when it hit me that I no longer had a phone, I forgot to grab it before I stormed off from the bank.I tossed the candy wrapper on the table next to the chair, a new wave of distress washing over me. “Well shit.” I chewed at my thumb if the cops found my phone they’d be able to trace me to the scene- assuming Jon didn’t tell them I was there.I groaned wrapping myself further in my makeshift cocoon. A light knock from the other side of the roof brought me from my troubled thoughts. I ignored it, thinking it was just my imagination when I heard it again.I rose quietly, taking my blanket with me, I crossed the distance more curious than anything. I looked around waiting for the noise again. “Uhm… Hello?” “Hey.” A familiar voice called out making me jump back in surprise. “Jon??” I whipped my head around looking for the source of the voice.“Wait you can turn invisible too??” He suddenly floated up from the edge of the wall, I stared mouth agape as he landed, slightly ungraceful.“Unfortunately no, but I can fly! Well sometimes anyway.” I nodded, finally managing to close my mouth.“Not that this isn’t a really rad uh- surprise? But what are you doing here?"He kicked the pebbles around his feet, shuffling around like a lost puppy. "Well I know you’re probably mad at me but I wanted to return this as soon as possible.” He pulled my phone out of his pocket, hands slightly shaking.“S-Sorry it got cracked a little in the bag.” “No problem- thanks, really.” We stood there in a silence, not totally uncomfortable but definitely uneasy. But of course, in true 90’s sitcom fashion we both spoke out at the same time. “So about earlier-” “We should talk-” We laughed, he motioned for me to continue so I did with a deep breath.“I wanted to say sorry- for how I reacted. I know it was really immature and I guess I didn’t really give you the explanation you deserved.” His eyebrows shot up, he instantly came closer.“Oh my god no-I came here to apologize! I shouldn’t have pushed you to do something you were clearly uncomfortable with.” I sighed tightening the blanket around me.“Well for the sake of not arguing let’s agree to disagree.” He nodded, his trademark smile finally back on his face where it belonged. I could tell there was a lot more to say, so I motioned for him to follow me to my seat. I sat down, squishing myself against one side of the chair and patted the space next to me.He shrugged, plopping down with a grin. I offered him some of my blanket but he declined.“I don’t really get cold, thank you though. "We stared up, letting things settle down before either of us dared to break the comfortable silence. "I didn’t tell them.” He started not looking away from the stars. “Hm?” “The police, I told them some random hero burst in and out before I could register.” I turned away from the candy I’d been guzzling down, the shock evident on my face.“Jon you didn’t have to lie for me.” He shrugged finally looking down. “What are friends for if not to lie for you?” I laughed lightly at his call back before leaning back into the chair. “That’s a very good point.”
We sat there for what felt like hours, he told me a little bit about his powers, promising to explain everything when he could, before I remembered my reason for coming up here in the first place.I took the card out of my pocket catching Jon’s attention.
“What’s that?”
“Oh yeah, I totally forgot to tell you- a while ago Robin came up here and hassled me to tell him about my powers.” Jon seemingly choked on the soda he was in the middle of drinking. I stared at him slightly concerned before he waved me off, gesturing me to continue.
“Well anyway, before he could impale me with his stupid little knife things, in swoops this gorgeous spandex-clad man in blue and black- ever heard of Nightwing?” Jon nodded, shakily looking back and forth between the soda can and my face. I ignored his weird behavior with a shrug. “Anywho, he gave me this and told me to call him when I was ready.”
“Well, are you?” I looked at the dingy card, then at my wide-eyed friend.
I punched the numbers in before I could talk myself away from it.
“Guess we’ll find out.”

🎃💀👻You’re wearing the same costume as my friend and I’m sorry for sneaking up on you like that I didn’t meant to scare you so badly/tacklehug you…oh my god, please don’t cry/hit me…🎃💀👻
Relationship: Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins
Title: Moon of My Life
WSL Prompt Contest Entry number: S1
Summary: none provided by author
Dean’s probably had one too many to drink, but he’s been stuck at this party for hours, waiting for Roman to finally arrive, and waiting is fucking boring, okay? There’s only so much waiting a guy can do when he knows no one, and one drink turned into two turned into four, and he feels good, loose and relaxed and mellow, just enough beer in his system for a pleasant buzz.
The party is some Halloween shindig Roman was invited to, and because he didn’t want to go alone to a party where he’d only know his coworkers, he’d begged and pleaded until Dean finally caved and agreed to tag along.
Who throws parties on a Sunday, Dean wants to know, because if it were a Friday or a Saturday, Dean would be at home, babysitting for Roman so that Roman could be here, with his wife.
Roman had said he’d be late, that he had to make a stop before he’d arrive, some shit about the finishing touches on his costume or whatever, Dean doesn’t remember, but that was hours ago. Hours and hours and he should’ve been here already, but Dean’s looked everywhere, and there’s only so much solo drinking Dean can do before he starts to feel like a pathetic loser, standing off to the side like a fucking loner.
He meanders back into the kitchen, anyway, the cup in his hand once again empty. Might as well grab another beer since it doesn’t look like Roman plans on showing up anytime soon. The rooms are all packed, hazy with smoke, and everyone is dressed in some kind of costume or another.
Dean? Dean doesn’t do costumes, is wearing his usual beat up boots, jeans with a rip in the knee, a plain white t-shirt, and his leather jacket.
But here? There’s everything from Superman to Batman, Minnie Mouse to Cinderella, firemen to doctors to nurses, in all states of dress and undress..
There’s a group of people crowding around the keg, and Dean grins, because Roman is finally here, that late ass shithead. He stumbles a little as he moves forward, too many people to walk through without tripping or stumbling over someone’s foot, slings an arm around Roman’s shoulder and scrubs a hand through his hair, knowing Roman will curse him to hell and back for ruining the neat braid he has it pulled back in.
Only, it’s not Roman who turns to look at him. It’s someone Dean’s never seen before, with big brown eyes, a neatly trimmed beard, and an irritated look on his face.
”Sorry,” Dean says quickly, removing his arm and shoving his hand into his pocket. He’s been hit for a lot less, and this guy looks like he’s seriously thinking about throwing a punch. “Thought you were someone else, sorry.”
The guy’s irritated expression rapidly changes into one of amusement, however, and he claps a hand to Dean’s chest, says, “Don’t worry about it, man.”
”S’just, my friend Roman, said he’d be wearin’ somethin’ like that. You kinda look like him,” Dean explains, though he’s not quite sure why. Probably all the beer he’s had. Or the fact that Roman is eight thousand fucking hours late, and Dean’s bored, in dire need of someone–anyone–to talk to.
”Khal Drogo?” the guy asks, “from Game of Thrones?”
Dean nods. He’s pretty sure that’s what Roman had said he was going to be dressed as. Dean’s never seen an episode in his life, so he has no idea who or what Khal Drogo is, only that the costume involves not a whole lot of clothing, because the guy standing in front of him is shirtless, some kind of leather-like corset thing around his waist, and a pair of mud-stained khakis that are rolled up past his ankles, his feet bare.
”Think so, yeah,” Dean says.
”What about you?” the guy asks, gesturing wildly with the hand that’s not holding his drink. “Who’re you s’posed to be? It’s a pretty cool costume.”
Dean laughs, shakes his head. “Costume? This ain’t a costume. I dress like this every day, man.”
The guy looks at him with wide, brown eyes, his mouth dropped open a little. “Oh.”
There are a thousand and one things that float through Dean’s head at once, but the one that sticks is jesus, what a fuckin’ pretty mouth, and that he wouldn’t mind getting infinitely more intimate with it.
There’s already a bolt of want that settles and simmers low in his belly at the sight of a pink tongue swiping over that bottom lip, and Dean’s had just enough to drink that the idea of wrapping his hand around this guy’s wrist and hauling him off to the closest empty room is sounding better and better with each second that passes.
Beer makes Dean horny, whatever, sue him.
An arm around his shoulders stops him from moving forward, however, halting his plans for the moment.
”Yo, Deano, where you been?” Roman’s ruffling Dean’s hair, and he somehow has a cup filled with beer, though Dean hasn’t seen him in the kitchen once in the hours he’s been here. “Seth, c’mon, I thought we agreed you’d wear somethin’ different.”
Who the fuck is Seth, Dean wants to ask, but then the guy dressed just like Roman starts talking, and oh, oh, that’s Seth. Seth, alright, okay.
”Nah, man,” Seth says with a shake of his head. “We didn’t agree on anything.”
Dean looks back and forth between Roman and Seth, wondering how the fuck Roman knows him, and why the hell he kept him hidden from Dean. That’s–that’s unacceptable, really.
”No, you said you’d just wear somethin’ different because you didn’t wanna look like a lame knock-off when I look just fuckin’ like Jason Momoa.” Roman sounds legitimately pissed off, and it’s more than a little amusing to Dean, because Roman is fucking unflappable even in the most stressful of situations.
”I’m the one who got you into Game of Thrones in the first place!” Seth exclaims, waving his hands a little enthusiastically, whatever’s in his cup sloshing over the rim.
Dean blinks slowly, then finally says, “It’s a fuckin’ costume, holy shit. I’m sure there are eighty thousand other people dressed as Khal fuckin’ whatever. Unbunch your underwear, and move the fuck on.”
”At least we bothered to dress up,” Roman mumbles, and Dean turns to look at him with narrowed eyes.
”I dunno,” Seth says, drawing Dean’s attention back to him. He’s licking his lips again, his eyes moving up and down Dean’s body like a touch Dean can feel. “He could pass for a grungy hipster, or what’s his face, y’know, the guy from Grease?”
”Danny fuckin’ Zuko?” Dean says through gritted teeth. He kind of wants to punch himself in the face for even knowing who Seth’s talking about. Fuck.
Roman snorts out a laugh, leaning his head against Dean’s shoulder. “I see that, man. Holy shit, I never noticed that.”
Dean shrugs Roman off and away. Fucking asshole best friend. First he keeps Seth from him, then they yuck it up like he’s some fucking greaser singing some dumbass songs about summer loving or whatever the fuck.
”I need another drink,” Dean says, heading back to the keg. Roman and Seth and their fuckin’ Grease bullshit. There isn’t enough beer on the planet for that. He fills his cup and takes a long swallow, filling it once again before moving back to where Roman and Seth are standing. “So, how do you two know each other?”
”Pretty sure I’ve mentioned that we work together, Dean,” Roman says, rolling his eyes.
Well, fucking sue Dean, it’s not his fault he doesn’t pay attention to 95% of the shit Roman says about work. It’s all the same thing, anyway, bitching about how someone in some department couldn’t find his ass with a map if you paid him to.
Dean takes another drink, watching Seth over the rim of his cup. Maybe if Roman would’ve said Seth looks like this, he would’ve bothered to pay attention.
”Dude,” Roman says, shaking his head. He looks like he’s trying really hard not to laugh.
Seth’s looking a little pink, and oh, Dean apparently said that out loud. Whatever. Like Seth hasn’t been checking him out for the last however many minutes.
Dean shrugs. “I said what I said.”
”Alright, Casanova, finish your damn drink. You gotta open the garage tomorrow, remember?”
That’s a fucking buzzkill. He’s seen Roman for all of five minutes, because the fucker was hiding somewhere, he couldn’t drink as much as he wanted, and he can’t stay and talk to Seth. This is bullshit.
”I didn’t, til you reminded me,” Dean says, frowning. He doesn’t want to leave now, wants to stay right where he is, sneaking glances at Seth as long as he can get away with, before pulling him somewhere and kissing the breath from his lungs.
”Which garage?” Seth asks. His eyes seem to be glued to Dean’s hands, and Dean has to fight down a smirk. He knows how good his hands are, knows the things they’re capable of, the way his palms are rough with calluses, and how there’s always engine grease caked beneath his nails, in the dips and whorls of his skin no matter how hard he scrubs them clean.
”Uhhh, Ambrose Auto Repair,” Dean says, fighting back a grin. He’s owned the business for years, has had his name emblazoned on the building for just as long, but it will never not send a jolt of satisfaction through him, how he came from nothing to being here now, owning and running a successful garage with more money than he knows what to do with.
”You any good at what you do?” Seth asks, equal parts genuinely curious and flirtatious.
Dean smirks, raises an eyebrow. “Sure hope so,” he says teasingly, “seein’ as I own the place.”
”Deano’s the best,” Roman cuts in, wrapping an arm around Dean’s shoulder again. “There ain’t any car he can’t fix.”
Dean blames the beer for the way his face flushes.
”I’ll remember that,” says Seth.
Dean finishes the last of his beer, setting the cup down on the counter where there are other cups littering the surface. A glance at his watch tells him it’s nearing one in the morning, and when the fuck did it get so late? Where the fuck was Roman all night?
”You gonna have time to stop by for lunch tomorrow?” Dean asks Roman quietly. It’s routine, Roman stopping by every Monday and Friday for lunch, unless there’s something urgent that keeps him at work.
”You know it.” Roman knocks their foreheads together gently, scrubs his hand through Dean’s hair again, then shoos him out.
”It was nice meetin’ you, Seth,” Dean says, holding out a hand for Seth to shake. Seth does, and Dean’s pleased to find out that Seth’s hand is just as callused–from what, he can’t wait to find out, because Roman works in a fucking architecture firm, and fits perfectly in his own. “You should stop by some time.”
Seth nods slowly, looking a little eager, a little confused. “Yeah, I might,” he says, letting his hand fall from Dean’s. It’s hard to ignore the frissons of heat zooming up Dean’s spine at the touch of Seth’s skin against his own, but he does, putting one foot in front of another, making his way out of the haze-filled house.
He’s grateful he lives close by since he chose not to drive, and the walk home helps dissipate the buzz a little, helps get rid of some of the stagnant smoke smell clinging to his clothes and skin.
He still showers, however, scrubbing himself from head to toe, setting his alarm for a too early 6:00 am, dreaming of pink lips and big brown eyes and a gap-toothed smile.
--
It’s a little later than Dean had hoped to make it into the garage, but the lights are already on, and Sasha is already in, standing behind the front desk with her back to Dean, on her tip-toes as she switches out the Halloween-themed banner for one with turkeys and leaves.
”You’re here early,” Dean says, laughing softly to himself at the way Sasha jumps, a hand clapped to her chest as she turns around to face him with wide eyes.
”Jesus, Dean, what’s wrong with you?”
Dean shrugs. “What’re you doin’ here so early?”
”Just wanted to get all the decorations swapped over,” Sasha explains, “since Halloween is pretty much over, y’know? Don’t think too many people are gonna be having parties on a Tuesday night, right? And besides, Thanksgiving, Dean, Thanksgiving. That means it’s almost Christmas.”
”Have any packages come in yet?” Dean asks, choosing not to focus on any of the holiday stuff. He enjoys Thanksgiving and Christmas, yeah, but not when they’re being shoved down his throat weeks and months ahead of time.
”They’re on your desk, boss,” Sasha says, “and the invoice forms are on top of them.”
Sure enough, there are a few boxes sitting on top of Dean’s desk, and a stack of papers on top of them.
Time to get down to business, then.
--
Dean’s elbow deep under the hood of a 2004 Chevy Malibu, trying to find the remaining pieces of a snapped belt. The first few vehicles were all easy enough, quick oil changes and brake pad replacements that took him no time at all to finish, ahead of the heavy workload he, Antonio, and Sami have when they come in later.
The mornings are Dean’s quiet time, his decompression time, where he’s the only one in the shop aside from Sasha. He likes to come in a little earlier than the rest of his employees to get the easier jobs done, to breathe and relax and settle before the hustle and bustle of the day really starts.
”Hey, Boss-man,” Sasha says, startling Dean enough that he jumps, banging his wrist on the engine. “Shit, sorry.”
Dean blows out a breath. “Not your fault. You know how I get,” he says, pulling the rag from his back pocket and half-heartedly wiping his hands. Dean is in his element when he’s buried beneath a hood. There’s nothing and no one else that exists, focused solely on evaluating, diagnosing, and repairing.
”You’ve uh–you’ve got a visitor?” Sasha sounds a little confused, and the tone of her voice makes Dean’s brow furrow. Roman’s early, and he’s never bothered to stop in and tell Sasha he’s here, choosing instead to walk around like he owns the place. Dean’s pretty confused, too.
Dean shoves the rag back into his pocket, follows behind Sasha to the reception area, and almost face-plants on the carpeted floor.
Seth is running his fingers along the edge of the counter. His hair is pulled back into a neat bun at the base of his neck instead of the braid it was pulled into last night, and gone is the costume, replaced by a fitted pair of slacks that hug every curve of Seth’s legs and ass, and a crisp, white button-down that stretches enticingly across his back and shoulders, highlighting the width and breadth of them.
”Seth?” Dean says, after clearing his throat. He feels completely underdressed, in his ripped and stained jeans, his oil-stained t-shirt with the sleeves cut off, but this is who he is, and he’s not going to pretend to be something other than that for anyone.
Seth turns to Dean with a smile on his face. “Wasn’t expectin’ much from a garage, but this place is actually pretty nice,” he says, waving a hand around to encompass the space surrounding him.
Dean isn’t sure whether to take offense, or to take it as the compliment Seth probably meant it as. Considering it’s Dean’s baby, he’s leaning more toward taking offense.
”That’s a backhanded compliment if I ever heard one,” Dean says, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
Seth grimaces, says, “Shit, sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” but Dean just shakes his head, waving it off.
”S’cool,” Dean says, moving a little closer. “Pretty much was just junk and clutter everywhere ‘til Sasha started workin’ here. She’s the one who made it look all nice and shit. Pretty sure she’s the boss, even though I own the place.”
”And don’t you forget it,” Sasha chimes in, grinning and sticking her tongue out at Dean. She’s back at the front counter, rummaging through the stack of papers she has sorted, until she finds what she’s looking for. She hands it to Dean, says, “You’ve got that Cruiser coming in for the water pump and the timing belt in a half hour,” then disappears to the lounge, presumably to give Dean and Seth some kind of privacy.
Dean barely suppresses a groan. He loves working with his hands, loves his shop and working on cars, but fuck does he hate water pumps and timing belts. The amount of hours he has to put into that is so many. Maybe he’ll see if Antonio or Sami wants to take it.
”No time to grab a coffee or something?” Seth asks, looking put out. His hands are in the pockets of his slacks, and he looks so out of place in his clean slacks and button-down, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet, but fuck does Dean want to make a mess of him in the best of ways.
”That’s the nice thing about being your own boss,” Dean says with a grin, “you can do whatever you want.”
Seth grins, and Dean’s heart beats a little faster at the tiny little gap between his teeth.
”Roman’s not gonna mind?” Seth asks, making Dean’s brow furrow in confusion.
”Why would Roman mind?” If Seth means what Dean thinks he means, he’s going to laugh, really hard, then question what kind of person Seth actually is.
”You’re not–you two aren’t…?” Seth trails off, his face flushed.
Dean snorts, laughs. “Jesus, no. He’s my brother,” he says, shaking his head. “I mean, I’m sure he’ll end up sayin’ somethin’, ‘cause that’s just how Rome is, but seriously, man, even you thinkin’ he and I were together wasn’t enough to stop you from comin’ here?”
Seth looks taken aback at being called out, and he opens and closes his mouth half a dozen times before he says, “I wasn’t positive if you were, and on the off-chance that you weren’t, I figured why not?”
”But what if we were, though?” Dean probes. Roman’s married, which makes Dean laugh, because has Seth never seen the pictures Roman has on his desk of his wife and daughter?
”I would’ve turned back around and left,” says Seth with a shrug. “I’m not about that breakin’ people up shit.”
Dean nods. He doesn’t know how much of that he believes, since he doesn’t really know Seth at all, but he’s willing to give Seth the benefit of the doubt, for now.
”You said somethin’ about coffee?” Dean lets the subject go. Seth answered his questions, and without knowing Seth better, there’s not much more Dean can do. He could turn Seth down, send him on his way, but he really wants to see where this goes, if it goes anywhere.
”There’s a coffee shop not too far from here,” Seth suggests, a thumb hooked back over his shoulder.
”Gimme a sec,” Dean says, quickly disappearing back onto the shop floor. He scrubs his hands clean as best as he can, though he knows there will still be grease caked beneath his nails, in the lines of his knuckles.
Seth is still patiently waiting when Dean gets back out, and he smiles softly at Dean in a way that warms Dean down to his toes. “Ready?” he asks.
Dean nods and follows Seth out the door.

One Year Later
--
”Dean, hurry up,” Seth calls out, making Dean sigh. He’s been standing in front of the mirror for the last twenty minutes, making faces at himself, because he can’t bring himself to leave the solitude of the bathroom.
”Gimme a minute,” Dean shouts back, gripping the edge of the counter. This was such a stupid fucking idea. Why did he let Seth talk him into this, into wearing this ridiculous costume, into going to his work’s Halloween party, again?
Oh. Yeah. Because Seth was mouthing down the line of his hip, words smeared into the stretch of skin there, and all Dean could do was agree to everything Seth was saying.
Now he’s stuck here, looking like a complete tool, barely resisting the urge to strip off his costume and put his jeans and t-shirt back on.
Dean loves Batman, he does. But he loves Batman as Batman, as Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Cristian Bale, even Ben fucking Affleck, playing Batman, not him dressed as Batman, looking like a fucking total moron.
Seth? Seth looks like sex on legs, in his leather, skin-tight Catwoman suit, every inch of fabric molded to the curves and dips of muscle, the mask on his face making his big, brown eyes seem that much more mesmerizing.
Dean really just wants to take him to bed.
But no, he’s stuck in this fucking costume, looking like a complete idiot because he will never be able to fill out a Batman costume the way it’s meant to be, while Seth gets to look like the hottest thing to ever walk the planet, all because he can’t say no to Seth and his devious, wicked mouth.
”Dean, c’mon,” says Seth, appearing in the bathroom doorway. His mask is hanging around his neck, and his hair is pulled back into a loose bun. Dean can’t stop himself from doing a slow, thorough once over, because jesus, the sight of Seth in all that form-fitting leather will never not make Dean want to rip it off him.
”You done?” Seth asks, an eyebrow raised, looking like he’s trying to fight back a grin.
Dean shrugs. “Turn around,” he says, sticks his tongue out teasingly.
”Incorrigible,” Seth says fondly with a shake of his head. “You look great, Dean, I swear. Can we go now? We’re going to be late.”
Dean sighs, smooths his hands down the front of his costume. “C’mere,” he says, pulls Seth in with a hand around his wrist, until Seth’s back is plastered to his front, so Dean can look into Seth’s eyes in the mirror.
Dean, Batman, and Seth, his Catwoman. Even with how stupid Dean thinks he looks on his own, with Seth standing beside him, they look fucking amazing.
”Alright,” Dean says, “let’s do this.”

Movies, I love movies...
Okay, it's happening again. Getting addicted to thing, I mean. And wanting to share my addiction and shout it to the world but not having even friends to open up to... So, Tumblr, here I'm again, basically talking to walls I guess but it's okay 'cause I've got used to it. (Basically my whole life has been that idk.)
I've had flu for the past 4 days so I've just stayed at home watching tv all day. Yesterday I started feeling like watching those (newer) Marvel movies that I haven't watched before so yesterday, I started with Iron Man 2 (which I also have had on dvd for years but have never watched that) and watched couple of movies I hadn't seen yet and now I'm pissed because I want to watch more and on Netflix (Finland at least) there's every Captain America movie but I really don't want to watch the third one when there's two other movies between them BUT THOSE ARE NOT ON NETFLIX and I don't know what I'm gonna do with my life. I want to watch more but I just hate to do things in "wrong order", no ocd here (at least something that ISN'T mental in my life wooohoo), but it's just something I like and what makes me happy. But also annoyed sometimes. You know, I have the second Thor on dvd (I might have a little obsession with pairings and I regretted buying that dvd but I did it just because of the pairing, now how pathetic is that? :DDDDDDD) but I don't have the first one. And every time I see that dvd at supermarkets I just WANT to buy it so bad because it looks stupid to have only tje 2nd in my shelf but I don't want to buy it because only thing I like in that movie is Loki and, yeah, I don't want the DVD but I want it. Struggle is real!!!!!!!!
...so I need to see more but I guess I have to start searching for the missing movies as DVDs in order to watch the rest if the movies on Netflix 😐 (One day, I swear, I will buy that first Thor dvd so it doesn't look so idiotic to have just Thor2 next to Iron Man and Iron Man 2 dvds hnnnnngh---)
Also I struggled because I felt like watching all of the movies in order but I didn't feel like rewatching some of them and I couldn't stop thinking about how this comes after this which I have seen but a long time ago argh what am i gonna do??? Well ended up just rewinding them to see if I remember everything and to see if I had watched through the end credits too.
[[[HERE I NEEDED THE READ MORE LINK BUT FORGOT HOW TO ADD IT ON MOBILE??? Or did the app just change?]]]
About the Marvel movies overall... Well I grew up with "superhero movies" and I'll always be tru Batman fan and I'll avoid this reboot of the DC franchise as I'm this stupid avoid-all-what's-mainstream kinda person who loves to stick to the "old stuff", and I've also watched lots of Marvel movies and have collected some of those on dvds as well.
I'm proudly one of those who love the original Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire. For me it's special because I was 13 or so when I first saw it on tv and it touched me because I was heavily bullied and rejected at school and it just made me feel better to see someone going through bullying and then finally defending themselves.
X-Men was also another trilogy that I used to watch and that I liked a lot and I still do. I have each of them on dvd. X-Men are still my favorite from Marvel and I grew a huge obsession to Deadpool a while before his first movie and there's no turning back, I'm still a huge fan and can't wait for the second movie and if had to talk using internet slang, DP would probably be my spirit animal. I'm still annoyed he has to be just a comic book character but fortunately we have Ryan Reynolds there somewhere which is almost like having the real DP in this world.
With the newer movies... Idk why they never got me. Maybe it's the same as with Batman: I love the Batman universe but I act like no other DC universe existed and I ALWAYS hated Superman (Lego Batman would be proud wait what?) when I was a kid so I guess it was same thing with the X-Men for me. And Spider-Man. Actually I think it's this my issue with not being able to adjust to new things that easily that made me not to be interested in those newer movies and I just stuck to the X-Men franchise and spent my energy for new things with Nolan's Batman trilogy.
I don't even know why and when I got that Iron Man dvd but must have been my first newer-Marvel dvd. I guess Robert Downey Jr. was the biggest reason and honestly, I still don't know if I like Iron Man because of Iron Man or because of Robert Downey Jr. 🤔 Anyway, I like Iron Man best from all these and I actually have liked all three movies too. For me they've been more interesting than... the rest? (of what I've seen so far.)
At first I was also annoyed by Captain America's character and I don't even know why. He seemed so negative for some reason - remember that at that time I had seen him only in the Avengers movie - but actually both of what I watched today were pretty interesting. (And I found a ship and can't see anything from behind it anymore. Probably the reason why these movies got so much more interesting so fast..... Sorry, can't help myself.)
I guess the only movies I didn't like that much were both Thor movies and Avengers. Why? Thor is basically a love story and I can't stand love stories and I can't understand love or romance. So I'm just fed up with all that cheesy romantic love story that I just wanna puke. I don't remember if the second movie was any better. I've watched it only once. But I rewinded it today and it seemed boring, mainly cause I could remember every scene as I saw the little images. And Avengers then? Well it's okay, I guess I just was so inspired by Loki's "You're free from freedom" speech that it woke up the anarchist in me that I can't remember anything but Loki and how I melted into another identity crisis and started hating society for not having freedom over my own life because some idiot once invented money and rules. (I'm too kind you know...) Otherwise it was bit cheesy and cliché, I was able to "predict" what's gonna happen so I was probably great company while watching the movie because I couldn't keep my mouth shut and kept telling what happens and "didn't I just say???" and kept criticizing everything they did cause HOW MUCH MORE WRONG CAN YOU GET? Like what about CPR instead of watching your friend die who didn't even die, what about pulse or breath, you know?
But I don't think these are that bad at all. It's just. Funny to see how the plots are usually built the same way. Evil vs good, two different plots told to the audience and these plots will be connected towards the end. After watching this many superhero movies you just KNOW who will be the main villain in this particular one because of the way they're portrayed. Either something completely opposite loser-like OR something mysterious and nameless, powerful and feared character whose face is not seen at the beginning at all. Yeah, I hate clichés. Also with Marvel (minus X-Men) everything often seem to be so black and white. Either it's bad or good but there's no in-between and good will get bad when infected or enchanted or manipulated whatsoever and in the end they will always be back to being good. (With Batman I love how psychological everything is and nothing is black and white. Same with X-Men, it's not always good or bad but just people being imperfect and different.)
I think the main thing to inspire me to start watching these was the LEGO Marvel's Avengers game, it was about the movies and the levels were interesting. Also a while ago I saw the first Captain America movie on tv but couldn't watch it then and every now and then I've felt like I want to hear his story so yeah, I watched some of these today and was not disappointed, at all.
DISCLAIMER: So these are all my own thoughts and opinions so please don't get mad. Or do if you feel like that? My purpose is not to make anyone mad but just talk nonsense to myself but as I hate hearing my voice, I rather do that by writing somewhere instead of really talking to myself. I hate fighting (but live a good talk!) anyway so take it as honest opinions, just my thoughts written down. Not all can like the same things nor can all dislike the same things either. Thank you.

Silly Bat’ - Bruce Wayne x Reader
Just a short silly fic BECAUSE WHY NOT RIGHT ?! I like to imagine that when Bruce doesn’t have the stress of taking care of Wayne Inc or of his nightly activities on his back, he’s just a very funny and kinda weird man...So I wrote something about it, hope you’ll like it :
You can find my masterlist here : @ella-ravenwood-archives
__________________________________________________
There were times, when it was just you and Bruce, where you genuinely wondered if your husband wasn’t completely crazy.
Not in a bad way. Not in a “Joker” or “Harley Quinn” way. Nooooo. In a “that man is completely silly, and I’m really starting to question his sanity...is he on drugs ? Drunk ? I don’t know, but it’s funny” way. Yes. Exactly in that way.
Often, when it was just the two of you, behind closed door, he would...loosen up. And not just a bit. He would loosen up completely and go on full “goofball mode”.
You couldn’t count the number of times he started a pillow fight, a war with water guns (though since Alfred yelled at you two as if you were children making a mess, you switched from water guns to nerf guns), a tickle fight or a stupid and ridiculous fashion show etc etc.
You still remembered how your abs hurt after the fit of laughter you had when he came out of the bathroom wearing an awful bright green tuxedo vest a random fashion house send him, without an undershirt, flexing all of the muscle of his chest and all, some sweatpants on of which he tucked the lower part in cowboy boots Clark gave him, and a lampshade as a hat...Where was he even finding those ideas ?
Yes. When it was just you and him, he was a different person. That no one else but you, not even his children, not even Alfred, or any of his close friends would ever see. A Bruce completely carefree, and also slightly insane...but hilarious.
Every time you ended up having the Manor to yourself (which was very rarely, with five children and a butler who almost never took days off), it would even be better, your playground being bigger.
One of your favorite “Silly Bat” time was when you played hide and seek (yes, grown ass adults could totally play hide and seek) and you went to hide in a tree in the garden...And got found by Clark.
The embarrassment on Bruce’s face when he was trying to explain what you two were doing was priceless...In the end, he said that you were playing a “sexual version of hide and seek”, because it was easier to explain than to tell his friend that he was actually playing the actual game, like a damn child, with his beautiful wife...
Clark was impressed. After all, he found you in a tree, so he wondered how you two were going to make lo...Your laughter stopped his trail of thoughts. Your superfriend misinterpreted your laugh, thinking you were mocking him because he was blushing, and that was good (for Bruce). It settled the end of the story.
Soon enough, Superman was laughing too, and it took everything in Bruce to not even crack a smile, to keep his stoic stance, and slightly bored facial expression, so that he wouldn’t get discovered. Ooh you loved that man.
You really loved this kid like part of Bruce, you felt like he deserved to have those moments, because his childhood was ripped from him when he was but an eight year old child...So you indulged him whenever he had one of his “I’m a bit of a weird idiot” time.
Like today.
For the first time in six months, you had the entire house for yourselves, and you took advantage of it the night before (Bruce took his weekly night off of patrol, letting his children and other partners handling things), making love in every single room, needless to say, you fell in a deep sleep when the first light of morning arose...You woke up alone in bed, but Bruce’s side was still quite warm, so he was probably downstairs or in the bathroom.
Bathroom was empty, and you saw only your naked reflection in the huge mirrors all around the room. With a loud yawn, you put on one of your Husband’s sweatshirt, long enough for you to play as a dress, and didn’t bother to put some underwear on. You knew your Bruce, they wouldn’t last long on you anyway.
It was almost noon when you came in the kitchen to get a late breakfast. You definitely had a deep craving for some Cap’n Crunch right now.
Still a bit sleepy, you first thought you hallucinated as your gaze fell on Bruce, standing in front of the kitchen counter, settling the breakfast down (how cute). You rubbed your eyes vigorously and...Nope, the sight was still there.
You took a few more steps, quite confused, and he turned around as he heard you. Smiling widely, he came to you as if nothing, and planted a kiss on your forehead.
-Breakfast ready my love. I made some hashbrowns, bacon, eggs, blueberry pancakes...and of course, a bowl full of Cap’n Crunch and cold milk.
It was really cute, how he made you breakfast whenever it was only the two of you. Contrary to popular belief, he was quite a good cook...But, you just couldn’t wrap your head around what you were seeing right now. Unable to contain yourself, you said :
-Hum...Bruce, what are you doing ?
-Whatever do you mean ?
You approach him, and his smirk convinces you that he damn well know what you mean. Still, you explain :
-I mean...why are you wearing one of my shirt ?
He looks at himself, and gives his person an appreciative look (arrogant bastard), nods a bit, and look back at you, his cocky facial expression making you narrow your eyes in slight annoyance :
-Payback. Cause you’re always stealing mine.
Payb...What ? He gestures to you, and of course, conveniently, you are in indeed wearing one of his shirt. His huge ass shirt that was way too big for you. That served as a dress. You gave him a look, trying to defend yourself, no you weren’t always stealing his sh...his eyes and one of his eyebrow raising shut you up. Yeah ok. He was right. You had the bad habit to steal all of his shirt, to the extent he had to buy new ones often because all of them just magically disappeared (you had a place under your king sized bed where you hid them...Alfred helped, because he thought it was cute).
But still. His shirt were so big you used them as some sort of dresses. They were going almost all the way down to your knees. You could hang around in your house with them, in front of your children and butler, without it being weird. But your shirts ? On Bruce ? You were trying so hard not to laugh. Especially since you knew that’s what he was waiting for. Holding yourself as best you can, you sit next to him and say :
-...You are aware that you’re a giant compared to me right ? It looks like you’re wearing a really strange...Crop top.
-I am aware, and I like it. I’m gonna set a new trend across Gotham.
-One of my extremely small shirt as a crop top, and wearing only boxers ?
-Yup.
-People love you so much that I bet they’d find this idea brilliant...
-You think ?
-Yes, especially since it’d give them a glimpse of your very handsome body. I’m gonna have competition.
-Haha, no one compares to you, you’ll never have any competition.
-That’s cute. But you still look ridiculous.
-Non sense, I look fabulous.
-Fabulously ridiculous.
-You have no fashion sense, wearing such baggy clothes like my shirts. You’re not showing how gorgeous your body look with such things on.
-Oh ?
-Yes. Let me give you a make-over my love.
You smile and roll your eyes. Yes, he was definitely in one of his “Silly Bat” mood. As usual, you were definitely enjoying it.
He raised from the stool he was sitting on, and got even closer to you. Kissed the top of your nose, and with one swift move, took his sweatshirt off of you.
-Here. Fixed it. Now you’re the most beautiful woman in the World.
-I’m naked.
-Exactly. Perfect.
You chuckle a bit, of this little and short laugh he loved so much, and his feature soften even more. He’s unable to hold his sweet smile for you, and the sight of your Bruce, smile out, wearing only his boxers and one of your shirt that was way too small for you, turns into one of the best sight you ever had.
-You’re not too bad yourself.
-It’s because of your shirt, adds character.
You giggle some more, and his hands go automatically on your waist at the sound of your cute laughter. He brings you close from him, and your lips connect with his in the most tender kiss ever. God you loved moments like this, when it was just you and him.
When he could be silly, weird, affectionate, without the fear of someone seeing him, without the fear of ruining his reputation (reputation that was important to keep up for a lot of reasons).
When he could make you laugh to the point that your abs would hurt so much afterward. When he could just be himself a bit more...The thought of some people discovering this facet of his personality was hilarious.
Imagine Clark, on a mission with the dark and broody Batman, being very confused as to why said dark and broody Batman wears a bright yellow suit and a lampshade on his head ? Hilarious.
His kids sometimes saw a bit of that part of him, and Alfred too (he loved it, it reminded him of the boy Bruce used to be before his parents’ murder). Nerf guns wars were a regular occurence this later days.
But most of the time, people only saw his darkest side, his saddest one...And you were honored that he graced you with his childlike side on a regular basis.
One thing was troubling you however :
-Tell me Bruce, my dear heart...
-What my love ?
-How exactly did you put my shirt on ?
-...With great difficulties. That’s how I did it. Your shirts are really small, not easy to slip it on. I learn how flexible I could be thanks to it though.
Your laugh makes his heart fly and sing. Only you could have such an effect on him. Just a smile or a glance...And he’d feel lighter. Like he wasn’t carrying the weight of the World (or at least Gotham city) on his shoulders.
He was thankful that you were in his life. Without you, he would have buried this side of him deep within himself, never to let it out ever. Without you, he would only be the dark and broody Batman, the arrogant, womanizing and cocky Bruce Wayne. Without you, he would be miserable. He was beyond glad that you tumbled in his life one day, and just...stuck around, with your bright smile and sarcastic jokes. You were perfect.
Especially when naked.
He hands were starting to get hungry, and you chuckled a bit more as he tickled you unintentionally.
-Aaah, maybe I could set a trend too.
-Uh ?
-Well yeah, how would I look like if my husband set a trend, the soon to be famous crop top/boxers look, and I wouldn’t do anything ?
-What trend would you set ?
-This one. The Naked look.
-...The Naked look ?
-You said it was perfect.
-It’s perfect for my eyes only.
-Thanks...
-No, I mean, any men, and women for that matter, would think it’s perfect too ! You really are the most beautiful woman on the planet. But...It’s..I...Only for me.
-Bruce, sharing is caring.
-Maybe, but I have no intention of sharing you.
-That’s not very nice, for a self-proclaimed philanthropist. People would be disappointed.
-Fuck ‘em.
-Oh, and he swears. Outrageous.
He smiles wickedly at you, and you return the same smile. He loved when you were messing with him (as long as it wasn’t going too far...then he’d get all pouty and frowny, which was kinda cute, but anti-climatic).
-I can show you how outrageous I can be.
-Oh yeah ?
-Yeah.
-Mr. Wayne, I am appalled by your behavior.
He brings you closer to him, and lift you up the floor, his hands behind your thigh. You automatically wrap your legs around his waist, and peck his lips lovingly.
He kisses you deeply, and you moan lowly in his mouth. You pull away, and rest your forehead on his as he puts you down on the counter.
-Good thing no one will ever know what we’re about to do on the counter.
-Oh yes, they’d be very...appalled if they knew.
You burst out laughing, and kiss him once more. He pulls away, and just before plunging his head in your neck, says :
-I love you (Y/N).
-I love you Bruce.
Your shirt was difficult to put on for him, but definitely easy to rip off of his body.
FIN.
