OC Tag Game
I got tagged by @serenpedac and @cleverblackcat over on my DA sideblog - thank you!
Favorite OC: Rosslyn Cousland (DA:O), which surprises no one, I’m sure. She was my first major exploration of a character and throguh her I learned a lot about myself as well. Also she’s a badass
Newest OC: Thalass Eveni Dziah, my blue dragonborn sorcerer who’s very excited to be a scholar and who is my first ever DnD character. I’m looking forward to getting to know them and what they can do when the campaign starts next week
Oldest OC: Also Rosslyn, I made her during my second DA:O playthrough but she was the first to actually become a character. She romances Alistair, hates being made a Warden, and loves making her enemies Regret pissing her off
Meanest OC: Probably Leah Kingston (TWC, Natemancer)? None of my OCs are truly mean-spirited but Leah is champion of sarcasm and when she wants it to bite she can get really nasty. She tends to lash out when she’s feeling out of her depth, too, which isn’t good
Softest OC: Gwawr verch Morvanue (Dragon Age). She’s from a prequel to DA:O that I’m writing, she’s a Chasind healer and she’s very different from most of my other OCs, far more nurturing and laidback
Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: Rhiannon Lloyd (TWC Masonmancer) - she learned early on that expressing emotion never got her anything, so she locks her feelings away and pretends everything is fine. She’s also learned the value of silence and often waits for other people to reveal themselves so she can respond properly.
Dumbest (Affectionate) OC: I’m not sure I have one of those. Rosslyn has a tendency to be reckless, but that’s not dumb, she just has anger issues XD
Smartest OC: Maighread Trevelyan (DA:I). She has an eidetic memory and spent most of her early life in the Circle library, so has a foundation in all sorts of knowledge. Leah is also pretty smart, and she’s great at deductive reasoning even when people would rather she emotionally with a problem.
OC I'd Be Friends With: Well I know Rosslyn would be far too cool for me. I can imagine sitting in a library with Maighread, either casually reading separate books in silence or else having in depth conversations about magical theory - or hiking in the woods with Leah, complaining about the latest supernatural nonsense
I need to tag people! (only if you want to) @gingerbreton @ellenembee @deathandindignitybedamned @mutantenfisch @allisondraste @choccy-zefirka

The (Re)Adventures of Marzel Amell
Sooooooo ok I ended up binge playing DA:O for the last two weeks. And it might as well have been a blind playthrough because I forgot almost everything ^_^;; Below are Carrinth's Random Observations or Things That Have Happened to Marzel (Redux):
DA armor is still ugly as sin. I'm sorry. Robes 4 lyfe.
Man I tell you, a single Heal spell makes ALL the difference. Especially early on when you don't have money or potions or skillz. Dying less apparently makes game moar fun! SHOCKING.
I have recruited Sten.
I have also recruited Shale for the first time. I love Shale. Shale is best rock. Squish me. (Not really pls don't Shale) DLC ftw!
Sten really, really, REALLY likes my warden this time wtf. His affection is the HIGHEST of everyone, second only to dog. I have no idea how that happened. O_O I just RP-ed Marzel as being very indifferent to Sten. "I'm not here to impress you, bruh." Sten is a tsundere confirmed.
I did the FADE quest. Again. I told myself it wasn't as bad this round and that I'm fine but obviously I'm not fine but you just have to hold it in and my bags are full of junk and I need to sell them bcos I needs the money but I can't leave pls pls let me out LET ME OUT!2111
Wynne talking about what makes an abomination made me have Anders/Justice feels. "If one retains one's humanity, one is not an abomination." 😥
Still bff with Jowan. We bros for life. Alistair didn't like that.
"Teagan! Who iZ dis mAN?" Idk but the second round I really enjoyed her voice-acting. She's a distraught mother close to hysterics. It's amazingly hilarious and compelling! <3
Wait. Wait. I totally forgot about Connor. So wait. We CAN CURE demonic possession??? I thought it was permanent?! No way of saving but death via a pokey sword yadda yadda?? Omg is this one of those 'we could cure you but it's too expensive and you can't afford it' scenarios? IT IS. Poor farmer's kid can't afford a pile of lyrium but if you're the son of an arl? No problem! Whole Circle bending over just to help you. Wow. Goddamn. Chantry/Circle seriously just kill mages because it's the cheaper alternative! >:O
MMmmmm. People say I should save Orzammar for last because it is harder. But. Oghren. But. Difficult. But OGHREN. But BROODMOTHER. DO YOU NOT REMEMBER THE SUFFERING OF DEEP ROADS?! .......... OGHREN. Marzel and friends died a lot. Mostly because I stubbornly wanted my party to consist of Oghren and Shale. That's like, two warriors ugh. We got by. Shale extra conversations were worth it ;)
Got Flemeth's grimoire for Morrigan. Formed a team made only of dude-bros to help Marzel get laid. Which meant they had to make do without any healing or bard song. I named them... the Snu Snu Squad (affectionate). Zevran died almost immediately. (Note: Dragon bum be dangerous position) Marzel stupidly killed his own self with blood magic while throwing his single Heal spell >_> MVP goes to Alistair for keeping alive long enough to whittle away Flemeth's health and died just exact moment Sten landed a killing blow. Grimoire was given and snu snu was had!
Marzel is in weird love triangle where all romancable persons love him. This cannot end well.
Why are there so many Desire demons? Holy crap, with the DLCs I have encountered no less than 4. Were there always this many?? Are Fereldans so horny?
People who challenge MAGES to duels deserve to die... from stupidity. I don't make the rules. You sir, have a pointy stick. Marzel can conjure blizzards and crushing barriers with his fingertips. We are not the same.
MANA CLASH IS OP.
Ok I just read codex that those Wild Sylvan trees are possessed by Rage demons?? Omg. They are Angry Trees. Low-key wanna see Justice fight Angry Trees while yelling about demons.
Haha I missed this game. Now onward to Sacred Ashes and moar stuff I can't remember!

AHFUISKAJDL
Anyway was just reviewing my Dragon Age Keep which had my first ever playthrough of DA:O saved into it, which was cool but I started comparing my most recent playthrough to that one and it's just weird.
My original was an Aeducan named Jeta who fucking adored her family to bits, even when Trian was being an ass and Bhelen was being a sneaky little shit. They were her brothers, god, she'd helped raise Bhelen and even encouraged some of his sneaky tendencies because they were just kids stealing from the kitchens, you know? Jeta was looking forward to being a Commander because she wanted to help, make her family proud-
Then Bhelen murders Trian right in front of her and frames HER for the murder.
I imagine she wondered the Deep Roads for a few hours before she found Duncan and hoo, boy, her mental state was right shit then. Left to nothing but her thoughts as she carved through darkspawn? Yeah not goooddd. She begins thinking of the rumors surrounding her father (betrayal too, essentially), the harsh political game in Orzammar and wonders if this was all her family amounted to: the Aeducans shitting on everyone in order to reach the top, including their own family. And if that were true. .
Was she the same?
Alistair helped her through this a little, I think, in his sweet, bumbling ways. If a sweetheart like him could see the good in her, surely she wasn't going to hurt anyone, betray anyone?
So she tried so hard to be good. She helped everyone, remained polite and cordial, upfront and honorable. Jeta made friends with the assassin who tried to kill her, exchanged cookies with the large qunari she'd freed from a cage, became close with the witch who had questionable morals. Everyone deserved a chance, be good be good be good.
Then she goes to Orzammar and she's suddenly in that not-so-great state again. What do you mean father's dead? Did Bhelen?? By the ancestors this is horrible oh my god-
She met with both parties, both Harrowmont and Bhelen, and she quickly came to the conclusion an Aeducan shouldn't be on the throne. Her, especially, she decided, as she sobbed over the corpse of the brother she had actually killed.
There, all done, she can eventually move on hopefully
Oh, shit, wait, Alistair would make a damn good king, wouldn't he? Jeta didn't trust Anora and Alistair was. . She thought he could really good at it. She looks at the human who had wormed his way into her heart and she thinks that she's definitely an Aeducan. The hurt in Alistair's eyes, the betrayal as it's decided he'll marry the queen. .
Jeta was definitely an Aeducan.
The least she could do was die killing the Archdemon.
That was more or less the story I had for her anyway, then there's my Surana named Ashihari who just-
She's the best student, she's clever, she is liked by the First Enchanter. She's going places, isn't she, just not out of the tower and that's fine, isn't it? Who needs out of the tower, certainly not her. But Jowan does, and her heart trembles a little because him and the Chantry Sister's story is just like one out of the romance novels she's read. So she helps.
Turns out not everything is like the books she's read. Ashihari couldn't fathom the male romantic interest in a novel doing blood magic, betraying the trust of the woman he loved and his best friend all at once.
She's kind of reeling by the time they get to Ostagar and oh, wait, a Templar? Sure, it's an ex-Templar but it's still a Templar and. .
Maybe he reminded her of Cullen, a little. Maybe that's why she was a bit infatuated at first.
Then Ostagar gets fucked over and Ashihari comes to the conclusion her books were wrong and life is horrible. Off to the circle to write a paper on the damned subject — oh, right, recruit the mages. Then the tower, the only home she'd ever known is being destroyed and shut up Greagoir, she's thinking. Of course she's helping the mages, hey Wynne, kills the Sloth Demon and she runs into Cullen and he's. .
Yeah.
She doesn't mean to avoid Alistair for the few weeks after the Circle, but he was a Templar at some point. Who's to say he didn't feel the same way about mages?
Then an assassin tries to fucking stab her and oh wow, is that what an Antivan accent sounds like? That's very pretty! He's flirting and Ashihari frowns at him quite severely because fraternizing is just a stupid idea-
Wait, she's out of the Circle.
Huh.
Adds Zevran to the team reluctantly, but does threaten to boil him alive if he tries to do a murder. He's constantly flirting and Ashihari is a bit confused because she's super pale and her nose is too big and the man must be desperate, do you need help finding someone to shag? Only realizes later he's flirting as a defense mechanism and that he's trying to stay alive and wow, yeah, the world sucks, poor guy.
He tells good stories, though, and Ashihari wonders about what other countries might look like as they travel across Ferelden.
Then she finds Jowan and she punches the asshole in the face. You're saving this fucking child then if I ever see your fucking mug again, I'm electrocuting you.
Anyway
She doesn't take Zevran up on his offer for ages, and during that she's grown quite fond of him. Ashihari was 99% sure he wouldn't try to kill her after she gives him the Dalish boots and gloves because he looks so wondering, so stunned. The walls he seems to put up crumble just slightly, and Ashihari gives it a shot because she's curious.
The books lied to her again, it was fucking painful. Was interesting enough, she supposed, if messy.
It's only when Ashihari finds herself joking and laughing with him on the daily she realizes she's a bit in over her head. Sure, falling for a suave assassin seems like something straight out of the books, but she's learned that the world is a lot rougher than that. Zevran's been through a lot, and she's still learning about the outside world. So she ignores it because tragedies do exist, and she doesn't fancy the idea of living one out.
Ashihari stares at Zevran after they finish killing Taliesen and he's offering to stay and she's just. . "Are you sure, Zevran? I don't want you to feel forced to stay, it's up to you."
He's never had the choice before, after all. She wanted to give him that.
And he wanted to stay.
Zevran gives her the earring and then they have the bickering phase where Ashihari is confused and kind of hurt. She isn't sure what to think, and when she brings it up and they talk. .
Huh.
Ashihari had never been in love before, so she's just as lost as him. She offers to try and figure it out with him, if he wants, and he smiles. He accepts. There's something a bit different about their relationship now, the thing that's going unsaid. No, that's wrong. She's just aware of it now.
Morrigan offers the dark ritual and sorry, Alistair, but she'd rather not die. The king shags the daughter of the witch of the wilds and suddenly they're all at the gates of Denerim.
She looks at Zevran and the three words are trapped in her throat. She knows this is where the hero of the story would say those three words, right before the final battle when the hero rushes off to sacrifice themself.
"In truth, for the chance to be by your side I would storm the Dark City itself. Never doubt it."
Ashihari forgets her damned books in that moment because those three words don't seem like enough anymore. And if she is going to say them, it's going to be when they're all safe and a future with Zevran seems possible.
Both Jeta and Ashihari are red-heads with green eyes, by the way. I've got a type of character I like playing, I guess, but I look at these two and realize something. As I grow older, I despise tragedies more and more. They're harder to read, harder to stomach. Jeta is the one trying so hard to be better, to do right even when she tears herself down. Ashihari is learning about the world and herself and definitely has ADHD, but she's trying and. .
I dunno, I guess I just evolved with them. Feels like, maybe, I can let myself be happy too.
Anyway thanks Dragon Age, let me go finish the DLC now.

I realised there’s nothing stopping me from talking about my blorbos tbh, so have some Blorbo facts
Juno Mahariel
Their mabari’s name is Vir Sulavenin
You know how DA:O has phylacteries and puzzles and stuff that sets you on fire for no reason, which seems deadlier than in the other games? Juno activates them all.
I mean all.
Mama Mahariel asked to name them Juno, of June, so they’d be Clever and full of Resources. turns out that also means that if they realise something looks like a mechanism, they’ll find a way to activate it. Imagine you’re a random warden and see the Warden-Commander walk to a stone in the wall that looks a bit misplaced and now there’s a revenant, a demon and who knows what other shit around. I’d quit.
Youngest of the Mahariel siblings (Eravan, the eldest, and Gaadha, their twin, belong to @atypicalacademic)
Besties with Morrigan, whom they call the worst text replier in the universe, and Alistair, as in the King of Ferelden and the Warden-Commander are seen having a sleep over in a blanket fort and you wish you were invited
Besties and loved ones call them Juniper
Their greatest fear is being forgotten
Favourite food is walnut pie. Will stop paying attention to whatever you’re saying if there’s an unattended slice near them
Everything they said wouldn’t happen with Zevran happened. Zev starts flirting with them, they say this is not the time For That? Does That. Says won’t fall in love with Zevran? hey, hey guess what happened. guess what fucking happened.
Also romances (Kani’s again) Sahi Tabris and homevoid here isn’t very good at flirting. Got increasingly frustrated at being unable to express a crush that they were sure was reciprocated, told Sahi they were going to kiss them, and with shaking hands they grabbed his shoulders and slammed them so hard against the nearest tree, leaned in just as ungracefully and accidentally broke Sahi’s nose. Wynne had to heal them.
No one has let them live it down.
Btw no one understand them like Sahi understand them, in their opinion.
In their worldstate, it’s Gaadha the one who finds the cure, and the warden arcane investigators the one who perfect it. Juno allows their wardens to take it at first signs of the Calling if they want to call it quits but Juno does not. Will not.
Juno is one of those people who is, actually, afraid of everything. While they work on it in time, people don’t realise how insanely anxious they are because they come across almost as authoritative. They have no idea they sound like this. They have zero understanding of why people listen to them and trust them in the first place. Hates that they’re the one who has to go get it done, but they’ll go get it done.
And you see, Juno has two things in this world. 1. Raging abandonment issues from their parents dying, Eravan being transferred clans, the years of sheer denial that Eravan or their parents weren’t coming back despite they damn well knew; all which gave them these underlying fear of being forgotten; 2. Not a goddamn clue why or how are they alive. In their hands is their own beating like a hammer as they try to ask everyone they know why are they alive, can someone please tell them why? They shouldn’t be alive because how many times a person can really cheat death?
Being a Warden gave them a purpose and a duty, while confirming something Juno has always known. They’re dead without dying. Their life won’t be half lived or less enjoyed because they are, but they are.
Decay exists as an extant form of life or something.
And yes that means they grow into those Wardens who are almost more ghoul-spawn than person. Hungering and humming a tune no one recognises. Hard as the Legion or Hard as a Hurlock? hard to tell. Steps in rhythm with every Warden around them. Literally has the same nightmares as Alistair. Always anticipates their recruits because it’s almost like the Warden Commander has a hive mind. It’s like seeing someone go from rabbit (about to pass out at the next unexpected noise) to jackrabbit (you run into one in the middle of the night. eyes refract light. this animal has seen beyond your skull and into the darkness in ways you will never comprehend. has heard your heartbeat and will make you hear it too, despite being the silliest creature you’ve ever seen)
I am convinced that if it weren’t for Sahi, who has no interest in dying a Warden’s death, Zevran would’ve followed them to the deep roads, despite Juno trying to prevent that.
Corypheus would’ve lasted like 5 minutes with this bastard. Sure they look like they’re about to start crying at any moment. they might. they’re practising for the funeral. Whose? The moment you see the Crossbow come out you’ll understand they mean yours.
Not even all the abandonment issues has fucked them up like the Architect did, however
Funniest thing they’ve ever done is recruiting Nathaniel, because again, imagine someone who looks in a perpetually anxious grimace speak to you in the most surefooted, authoritative tone you’ve ever heard. Sorry for you loss, guy tried to kill us and you’re a rich kid talking to an elf my guy. Anyway you have a juice appt at 9, see you later.
No one knows with what pronouns to address them when they meet them which results in stuff like them having told Sten their gender is Hunter after several tries.
Voted most likely to accidentally hack a confidential government site.

A Talk Under the Stars
Been playing DA:O again and I'm falling in love with Alistair SO hard, so I'm gonna write for him!
Enjoy and for background information: My Warden is named Melody and she is a elf mage! She's part of my series, "The Rise of Bloom Lavellan," and I just wanted to write more for her! This takes place after Alistair and Melody had their first kiss, but have not slept together. Basically, before Alistair confesses his complete feelings towards her.
Reblogs and likes are appreciated.
.
Melody sat by the fire, legs crossed and a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. She only wore a black top and little black shorts. It was the middle of night, but she couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned in her tent before she decided to start a fire to comfort herself.
However, the fire only pained her that night. The warmth she felt reminded her of her sister, someone who lived with her at the Circle. Only a week earlier, her and the group had gone to the Circle, looking for their help, only to be met with disaster. Abominations roamed the halls that she used to see every day. She remembered how she saw mages speaking in the halls, traveling to their lessons, or heading to bed.
Most importantly, she remembered her family and her life she had there. She had her brothers Landon and Jacob, and her sisters Delilah, Natalie, Bloom, and Sandra. Melody may have been a little older than them, but she still loved them dearly. They grew up together and so did their skills. However, she didn't learn by herself or by simple lessons. She had an intelligent, caring man who taught her and Bloom.
Irving taught them together, always paid attention to their needs and skills. With his guidance and her family, she felt safe and secure with herself. But now her life was in shambles and disarray. A new Blight had started, she got in trouble for helping her friend, got recruited as a Grey Warden to escape punishment, betrayed by one of the leaders, almost died, and when she went back to the Circle, expecting some comfort...she didn't receive it.
Instead of seeing her friends, she saw those abominations, dead bodies, and pain. The worst thing was that she didn't know if her family made it out, or...if they fell to the tragedy. That fact haunted her and she couldn't sleep for many nights, and this one was the same.
At least, it was for a few minutes. She sat in silence, her mind filled with memories, but she tuned back in when she heard someone call out to her.
"Melody?" Alistair said, his voice deep with exhaustion.
She looked over her shoulder to see Alistair outside his tent, and she gasped at what she saw. He stood with no shirt on and only his breeches. She couldn't help but look him up and down before she quickly looked back at the fire.
"W-What are you doing out so late, Alistair?" She stuttered. She heard his footsteps get closer, and she did her best to not look at him. Even if she wanted to.
He yawned. "I heard some noise, and I just want to make sure nothing is coming for us."
She laughed nervously. "W-Well, it's just me, so don't worry."
He stood behind her and tilted his head at her reaction. "What's wrong? Are you hurt?"
"I think you should put some clothes on before we speak," she explained. Her voice was quiet, but she knew he heard her.
He looked down and gasped loudly. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" He rushed back to his tent and quickly changed into clothes. He came out with a white shirt and pants on. "I-I hope this is all right."
She looked over her shoulder and smiled. "Yes, that's better." She looked back at the fire and waited for him to join her.
He sat beside her and gave her a worried look. "I'll ask again. What's wrong?"
She closed her eyes and sighed. How could she explain her pain to him? He never lived within a Circle, surrounded by so many people, and spent years studying something that never had an end. However, he did know his own type of pain. He told her the truth, explained what he lived through, so why wouldn't he understand her?
"I keep thinking about what happened at the Circle," she admitted.
"Oh," he said. His gaze turned toward the fire. "May I ask how you feel?"
She opened her eyes and looked over at him. "Almost for all of my life, I lived in the Circle. I...don't have many memories outside of the Circle's land. I met my family there," she explained quietly, as if it was a secret.
"Did you meet family within the Circle?"
She laughed. "We're not blood related, so no. I didn't meet any secret family there. I just...met new family there."
He looked back over at her. "What are they like?"
"Oh, they're all misfits. Sandra is one of the templars, and she's like a spiky teddy bear. Sweet underneath all her bluntness and awkwardness." She looked out into the distance with a fond smile. "Landon is one of the kindest templars. He cares for us mages and the other templars. He doesn't judge people based on what they're born with. He actually is really interested in magic, so I secretly shown him some when I was there."
"Are the templars not allowed to learn about magic?" He asked with confusion.
"Not exactly. They're taught to counter the magic, not learn how it's beautiful, and not just dangerous," she explained sadly. "But Landon and a few others still studied it and spoke with the other mages. He liked each one, but he trusted Bloom the most."
"Bloom?"
Her smile fell and tears welled up in her eyes. "Bloom is...one of the first friends I made in the Circle. She was eleven and I was fourteen. I had other friends, but I never felt too close to them. She's funny, kind, smart, and beautiful. She brought all of us together."
"How are the others? I bet they're just as amazing."
She nodded. "Yes, they are. Landon is very good when it comes to training, Sandra is good when it comes to remembering the books and the history of the world and templars. Delilah and Natalie are twins, but so different. Delilah is quiet, but if you catch her on a good day, then she'll be loud and playful. Natalie is a little blunt, but once you get to know her, she's kind and she always means well. They're all strong with their power." Her voice wavered as she spoke, but she pushed her tears back. "I don't know who I would be without my family, so...".
"I bet they escaped, Melody."
She looked over at him, and her tears fell. "How do you know?" Her voice was barely audible with fear.
"Your friends are smart and strong. If they're anything like you, then I know they escaped and survived." He gently wiped her tears away. "I know it hurts to be away from them, and I believe they feel the same for you." He leaned in closer and rested their foreheads together. "And I promise that you will see them again."
More tears fell. "But...what if it is I who doesn't make it?"
"No," he said firmly. "You will survive this to see them again." He cupped her cheek and wiped more tears away. "Besides," he smirked, "I want to meet them. They seem like a pretty cool family."
Despite herself, a sad laugh left her. "They are pretty cool." She cupped his cheek and smiled. "And I know they'll like you. If not, then I'll make them like you."
The two stared at each other, both quiet as they thought. Her heart still hurt, but with him by her side, her burdens felt lighter. She quickly glanced at his lips. "Can I?" She asked quietly with embarrassment.
He smiled softly. "Only if I can kiss you back."
She nodded with a big smile and leaned in to meet him. She had kissed someone before, but she never felt anything. However, with Alistair, it was different. His lips were soft each time they kissed, and she wondered how. They fought on and on with darkspawn, yet he was never different. He was soft on the inside and on the outside.
Bloom was right. Melody loved the puppy boys.
They pulled away and she giggled at his face. He had a look of awe on his face, as if he saw the sun for the first time.
He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "You look so beautiful, you know?"
She ran a hand through his hair. "You're quite handsome," she joked.
He kissed her on the forehead. "Do you...feel like sleeping?" She lifted an eyebrow in response, and his face turned bright red. "No! I-I mean, just actually sleep in the tent. I would never-".
She giggled so hard she had to hold her stomach. "I know, Alistair. But, yes, I'd like to sleep. As long as you're with me."
He stood up and held out a hand. "I'll be with you as long as you want," he said gently.
She hesitated for a moment. She had kissed him, and admitted some of her feelings, but she still felt nervous. He wasn't a templar, but she wondered if he'd still hurt her or later hate her because of her magic. However, she didn't know the future, she only knew the present, and the present was great for her.
She stood up and took his hand. "Thank you, Alistair."
The two walked to her tent and both slept peacefully, for the first time in a long time.
.
ANYWAYS! I love Alistair and my Melody :). They're both precious and I'm just so happy to write for them. But I don't know why, it was difficult to write it! I just!! Couldn't!! But I like to think this is good!
I hope you enjoyed and reblogs and likes are appreciated!
And there is proofreading, but forgive me if something is spelt wrong or is off!

I was tagged by @irisopranta so here's a little trivia!
Share your wallpaper: It's... just the default MSI wallpaper (I have commitment issues lol.) I could probably use a screenshot or a commission of a suitable dimensions, but meeehhhhh.
My mobile wallpaper is this Dragon Age Tarot-style commission from @needapotion
Tumblr media
I've been thinking about changing it, but I'm not sure to what.
The last song you listened to: The Sharpest Lives by My Chemical Romance (I mostly listen to music while driving. Shockingly this song is not on any of my many playlists)
Currently reading: Uuuuhhhh I don't read as much as I should, but when I do I've been bouncing between: The Death and Life of Schneider Wrack by Nate Crowley, which I really enjoy but have been trying to finish for like a year and half (it's not long i'm just lazy). An inventive nautical zombie romp with a dash of social commentary.
Asian Ghost Short Stories: An Anthology of New and Classic Tales. The intersection of folklore, horror, and culture was the topic of both of my undergrad senior papers, though they mostly focused on Japan. I've already read most of the traditional Japanese stories in this book, but I don't know very much about ghosts in other Asian Countries, so it's been an interesting read! I was also drawn to it because it contains translations of new short horror stories by unpublished Asian authors. The Black Bestiary: A Phantasmagoria of Monsters and Myths from the Phillipines by Budjette Tan (Author), David Hontiveros, Kajo Baldisimo (Illustrator), and Bow Guerrero  (Illustrator). See above. This book is really interesting, because it's an illustrated compedium of myths and monsters, but the entries are written from the perspective of modern-day monster hunters recording their experiences in a journal. Apparently it's a sequel to a book called The Lost Journal of Alejandro Pardo, which I'll have to pick up sometime. The art is very cool. One of the illustrators, Kajo Baldisimo, is the main illustrator of a comic series called Trese that semi-recently received an animated adaptation with audio available in both English and Tagalog. I've been meaning to consume both of these at some point as well.
Last Movie: Uuuuuhhhhhh.... I'm not much of a movie person, so I don't really remember, but I guess maybe Dune?
Craving: Curry and rice (I'll make some the next time everyone else is out of the house >_>)
What are you wearing right now? Black leggings and a sweatshirt with the word "Catnip" over a collage of images of cats and slogans like "Cheap Thrills" in the style of an old-school Reefer Madness poster.
How tall are you: 5'4 (164.56 cm) (People always say "I thought you were taller!" Including someone i worked with in-person for more than a month-and-a-half.)
Piercings: Just the boring regular ear piercings.
Tattoos: None, sadly. See: fear of commitment
Glasses? Contacts? Neither.
Last drink: Ice water (I'm trying to drink more water, but I'd rather gargle metal shavings than drink room-temperature water.)
Last show: Hmm this one was also a while ago. I think it was Dragon Age: Absolution.
Last thing you ate: Pork roast (bleh) and potatoes for dinner.
Favorite color: This is a cop-out but I like lots of colors. I guess maybe green, orange or red? But I also like white, black, most shades of blue (navy can get fucked), purple, yellow, pink, silver/gray, etc.
Current obsession: FFXIV
Unrelated obsession: Dice! I love hand-made ttrpg dice sets! They're so pretty and unique! Sadly, not playing in any actual games has not put a damper on my bankruptcy-inducing dice habit.
Any pets: Two cats (Hansel and Gretel) and a dog (Isabella).
Do you have a crush on anyone? Nah.
Favorite fictional character: This one is really hard... There are probably so many I'm forgetting. The Justice of Toren/Breq from the Imperial Radch series, Matthew Swift from the Matthew Swift series, Alistair from DA:O, Anders, Fenris, and Isabela from DA2. Garrus from Mass Effect. Esteem from FFXIV, Alisaie from FFXIV (though I also really like Haurchefant, Y'shtola, Hilda, Ysayle, and Fordola.)
Honorable mentions to the characters I used to have keychains of on my pen case (I would try to encourage shier, nerdier students to talk to me by watching/playing things that were popular with high schoolers and putting my favorite character from the media on my pen case, which students would get very excited about): Chuuya from Bungo Stray Dogs, Childe from Genshin Impact, and Cu Chulainn from various Fate-related media.
The last place you traveled: Uhhhh I guess my last major trip was to... here (America)! My last "vacation" was to Sapporo (that was right before the pandemic.) I do occasionally take shorter day trips to towns around my area, but the furthest afield I've been recently is Grand Marais in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I will be in Las Vegas for the FFXIV Fan Expo this summer though!
Tagging: I think everyone I interact with has already been tagged in this, but if you haven't done it and want to here is your unofficial tag!

Uh oh I’m thinking about my dragon age OCs and how much I love them again
actually I’m going to talk about them because nobody can stop me
Catriona Cousland: my OG DA:O Warden. Silver-tongued dual-wielding duelist and queen of Ferelden. Polite but cool, though she has a soft spot for Alistair and Ser Barksleigh. Losing her family the way she did left her a quiet shell of her former self for a while. Discovering her brother lived helped. She wrote to Liliana every other week until she left for her search for a cure to the calling.
Stephen Amell: built like an oak tree. naturally, he’s a spirit healer with only a couple of earth—based tricks for damage. a lover, not a fighter, he focused on buffing and protecting his allies the whole way. maybe that’s why he was drawn to Morrigan. They were a study in contrasts. He annoyed her with his soft heart until it turned toward her. Of course he searched for her. Of course he went with her through the eluvian. Of course they were happy.
Althea Hawke: I meant to try other Hawkes out all the way through, but my force mage purple Hawke ruined me for any others. She’s brash, sometimes rude without meaning to be. Somehow she and Fenris love each other to disgusting distraction.
Daphne Trevelyan: my BABY. Shy, unassuming, and never left the circle out of fear until the option fell upon her. She became a passionate advocate for mage rights and “one of the helpers,” like Mr Rogers called them. She and Cullen better be able to have a nice and boring life. She’s done playing the hero. Being Herald and then Inquisitor was never comfortable for her, though she got good at faking it due to exposure. She was particularly close with Dorian and, surprisingly, Vivienne.
Ellana Lavellan: my sad little archer. Naive and innocent but inclined to distrust non-elves, she immediately fell in with Solas — and had her heart crushed for it. Close with Cole and Varric, she turned them for support and it crumbled the last of her walls. Despite all that, she is a brilliant strategist, and she’s hellbent on catching Solas’ trail so she can save him from himself. Of the two of them, she’s a much better politician than Daphne, which is hilarious considering.

Tell us about the warden from your alistair FF idea!
omg i deleted that post because i thought it was silly ahhh
so basically, my warden would be warden amell who has lived her whole life at the circle and only because of duncan was able to actually experience the outside world. however, by becoming a warden she still didn't feel free because her time was limited (which shocked her and made her a bit resentful of the wardens, that they would keep all of this a secret). she has difficulty trusting people because her best friend jowan turned out to be a blood mage, she doesnt know her family and she has the feeling of no one wanting her. on one hand it feels good to belong to something, to belong to the grey wardens. and she found love in the darkest of times with alistair. she is quite tiny and socially awkward, talking in a very soft voice. her relationship with magic is complicated since the templars treated her like a monster and her magic is the reason her parents had to send her away, so at times she dislikes using it.
anyway, everything that happens in da:o is also how i imagine the story to go except the ending. i have two headcanons for the ending.
the first one is: alistair breaks up with the warden, he becomes king, they do morrigan's ritual anyway because they still care about each other, warden amell leaves redcliffe because the heartbreak turned out to be worse than she thought and doesn't meet alistair until she decides to help the inquisition
the second one is: warden amell is so heartbroken by alistair's choice to become king and breaking up with her that she decides to sacrifice herself killing the archdemon. however, by some magical force she ends up coming out of the fade with the herald of andraste at the beginning of da:i. (since warden amell is related to hawke i imagine it to be like '' anyone tied to this family doesnt catch a break, not even in death '' and the maker having an interesting sense of humor of bringing her back to life)
warden amell and king alistair would reunite when the inquisition ask for his help. when they meet, all those bottled up emotions come up again and warden amell feels the anger, a sense of betrayal (since he broke up with her because of his duty and because mages cant have titles), but also the love she had for alistair. he realizes just how much he had missed her and is glad to see her again. their conversation starts out very awkward since both are too scared to admit to the other that they still care for each other. they slowly get closer until they can't resist and have the longest hug in history, remembering how good it felt to have each other.
thats more or less what ive been thinking about. its not much and a bit messy but yeah. thanks for asking :)

kinda weird how hell-bent i am at making my canon warden a mage when mage origin in da:o is probably the weakest origin out of, what, all 6 of the origin stories for the warden? it’s so flavourless, there is very little that makes the mage character super emotionally engaging, and the mage warden is the most blank slated out of all the possible warden. Plus, since the very first game in the series most of the mage origin story is just the protagonist asking lore-related questions that they should already know the answers to. but idk it’s just so much more fun making a mage/magic based builds, i do not have time to read and digest shits like “cry of valour: cooldown decreases by 75% when you are staggered and your health regenerate 0.5 second faster on each critical hit (stacking)”, cause bro that’s the kind of shit i have to read when i choose which abilities to unlock for a warrior or rogue and that’s just too many numbers and math and not enough texts about setting people on fire.
that being said, i have been feeling pretty lukewarm for my male!surana for a very long time. i didnt like my female!surana at all, and my m!surana is basically a projection of my desire to romance morrigan and have kieran with morrigan and also a projection of maglor (the one in my head aka a vast expansion on what tolkien has written on paper, which is pityingly little). Also, considering that my canon lavellan is already an elf dude and a mage, do i need another elf mage??? i think i met the quota for elf mages. listen, i made my surana a detailed backstory that has nothing to do with maglor in any capacity (and the flexibility of mage origin to adapt to any sort of backstory you might want for your mage warden is one of its few saving graces), but appearance and personality wise he’s just...he’s just so maglor (the one in my head). Also, i could just spent more time fleshing out maglor (in the fanfics i still haven’t written--partially because the chapter outlines kept changing) if this dragon age elf player character is just maglor 2.0. personally, i pick established canon characters over my ocs and anybody else’s ocs any day. plus, i want my original characters to be actually, you know, original.
i’m seriously considering having a female mahariel as my canon warden right now. in my opinion city elf origin is THE best warden origin, hands down, but merrill’s presence as a npc and the explicit connection and introduction to the eluvian (which is important across all three games) in dalish elf origin makes me prefer the dalish origin more from time to time. i always want leliana to be my canon dao romance and i think just yesterday i had the idea for the right gal to romance her. someone who’s original enough and someone who’s satisfactory enough of a character that can make that wish come true. i can’t even play da:o right now but i already looked at rogue builds for da:o lol (the best build is dual wield assassin, coincidentally my favourite rogue build in dai). my “canon” da2 and dai protags are both mages, it’s time for a change.
#mae overshares#well. for da2 i can only have a mage tbh i dont think warrior or rogue hawke could realistically be able to fight arishok#as much as i want my hawke to be a rogue i guess my warden will be the gal to be the first (and so far the only) rogue in the lineup#i will get a city elf to romance alistair. because he always has a flower for f!warden and it breaks my heart that he has to ditch it#had the warden choose someone else as their love. it just sucks. i feel bad for him. but also i heard his romance was sweet#but...no happily ever after i think my future city and dalish elf wardens are gonna die#they arent gonna make the deal with morrigan! no old god baby kieran for morrigan in their timelines#honestly it's leliana's grief over losing f!warden and how that grief would harden her in dai that inspires me to make this (to be) warden#what can i say i love tragedies and processing grief. but more importantly it was obvious that the wardens are meant 2 die at the end of dao#just like leliana will be 'hardened' in da:i regardless what happened in da:o. it just makes sense! from a narrative standpoint!#i was looking through lis 3 playthrough and charlotte's anger really struck a chord with me#the way she was so angry in the aftermath of the death of a lover. that anger born out of grief and love was just so real and heartbreaking#and btw charlotte was a sweet and caring person and her anger adds a layer to her character that makes her more complex and compelling to me#leliana is a sweet and caring person too. and i think it's just interesting to explore the anger she'd undoubtedly felt#when she lost the warden. especially if the warden helps her realize that she can become more than what her abuser and groomer mold her to b#someone she has such deep bond with. someone who changed her life. and one day that person is just gone#grief that has nowhere to go becomes anger. and to survive that anger. to outlast that fire. takes strength and it takes thick skin#your heart grow callouses from fighting that anger. your heart becomes stone. and it stays that way long after the anger turns into ash#i guess i just wanna explore that in leliana. i think it makes her a more layered and nuanced character. that anger and that grief

Just a thought
I have heard there is a MOD in DA:O for an extra slot so you can take you mabari everwhere with you.
I think there should be an extra slot so I can take my Alistair everywhere with me then perhaps I would get to hear some of the other companions banter.
No way I'm going anywhere without Alistair so this would be the only way my other companions would get a look in.
💞Alistair💞 ❤love of my life❤

[DA:O] Since I like to headcanon that my Warden and Hawke dies in the AU where Corypheus wins, how would the Origins companions react to the Warden dying? (Romanced and not)
Hello Anon and first off, are you okay? Do you need therapy? Tissues? That AU is a horror show I erase from my mind but the pain of everything is also kinda something I like to imagine so here we go! (I didn’t put Shale in there since I haven’t done a PT with their DLC and I didn’t put Wynne there since Asunder reasons qwq)
“A hero to the end, that’s what they were. We can’t ever let the world forget that.”
Alistair: (As King) He received a letter from the Warden stating their intention to battle Corypheus a few months prior to that cursed day. It was nothing out of the ordinary from them and Alistair never suspected it. He wrote back to them and offered his troops only to be turned down with the simple statement “Keep your hoses and men, might need them for cleanup!” and after that, Alistair waited to hear word of their victory. The news of their death was what he received instead. It was a letter Alexius sent him and all the King of Ferelden managed to do was to throw the letter in the fire, unable to believe what he had just read. And yet, when he received a torn fabric he knew was part of their garments, Alistair could only close his eyes and accept that he had lost his friend. The same way he had lost Duncan. Looking out of the balcony of his palace, Alistair thought of Redcliffe, of the Tevinter magister sequestered in the Arl of Redcliffe’s palace, of the Venatori’s increasingly frequent appearances and he makes a decision. It was time to rally the troops once more and once more, a Grey Warden must rise to lead these people.
“No...no she can’t be- you can’t be serious-”
Romanced: She promised him that she would be back. That he wouldn’t be left alone. This was why it was impossible for him to believe the mere words of a Venatori who came to proudly announce the death of his love. Alistair may have adjusted to life as King but his escape and sanctuary was her. She was his safety and comfort and now, the darkspawn had taken that from him. Wasn’t that just what was expected of them though? When Riordan had told them that a Grey Warden would die defeating the Archdemon, it was something he came to accept that death was the inevitable path of the Wardens. And yet the ache never left, the grief, the anger, the hate. Soon, his advisors would find him bent over his desk, poring over documents, military plans, rations, even looking over shelter plans and escape routes. When asked what it was he was planning, Alistair would carefully roll up all the documents littered all over his study and he would look at his advisors as if seeking something from them. For a month, Alistair would stay silent, refusing to succumb to the near-crippling grief of losing his Queen, his best friend, his beloved. In that month, he had sent out letters to whoever can be reached by him and when the end of that month comes, Alistair announces his plan. He shall be leading Fereldan forces along with the remaining Grey Wardens that he could find to fight against Corypheus. This was what she would have wanted, he reminded himself. She was always so righteous, so heroic, this is the least Alistair could do in her honour. Corypheus most likely sought to break him...Sad to say, he failed.
“I suppose I should have seen this one coming. No matter, I’ll see to it that you’ll be remembered. I know I will.”
(As a Warden) He was in hiding when word got out that Corypheus had killed his friend. For a few moments, he didn’t want to believe that. That was his Warden-Commander, after all and they killed an Archdemon and everything. That should have made killing them into an impossible task. But that doubt stayed only for so long before he accepted it. He mourned his friend and wanted nothing more than to honour their memory but at the same time, he needed to get to the bottom of everything. He had already seen the corruption among the Grey Warden ranks and decided that he would finish his goal the same way his friend had wanted to finish theirs. The world’s likely going to end - again - but there’s some Grey Wardens left that weren’t corrupted. There was still him and he would see to it that neither his best friend’s mission nor their memory would be left in the dust. He may not have a memento of theirs like how he has Duncan’s shield but the knowledge the Warden existed, that he was there to see them grow into such a powerful person was enough for him to never forget them. They had been there for him in his grief after Ostagar and his heartache after his sister’s rejection. No one could tell him his friend never existed. So for the sake of keeping the rest of Thedas safe - or at least his odd corner of it - and to finish what his friend had started, Alistair finds himself continuing in following the trail he had left off.
“I hope you weren’t planning on taking on all of this by yourself. Remember? I’m right here, love.”
Romanced: They both made promises to each other regarding their safety. Letters whenever they could make it, signs of life, reminders and reaffirmations of each other’s affections. That had become routine for them. As time passed, Alistair noticed her letters lessening but he understood that with both of them on different missions with differing goals, he didn’t always expect her to respond or give him ten pages’ worth of recounting. It wasn’t until she sent in a long letter explaining that something odd was happening and that she will be investigating the suspicious activities that he grew worried. He sent word to her that he was coming out of hiding to join her and hurried out of his safe house. If his love was uncovering something dangerous, something that might kill them, Alistair refused to let her run into the risk by herself. It wasn’t too hard for the grey warden to find his commander what with her still trying to give him hints of her whereabouts and him recognising each landmark they had passed by. This was why when he saw her galloping off towards Orlais’s borders, Alistair sped up his own mount. He called out to her and they would fight over whether he should have remained in hiding or not. At the end of the day, she would be held in his arms as they camped for the night and Alistair would try to ingrain the feeling of her body pressed flush against his. The moment Celene is assassinated and Orlais falls, he stands with her as they unsheathe their weapons together. He would look at her, her face set in determination and also a painful acceptance that there would be no surviving this and Alistair would let out a slow breath. “I love you.” He would tell her one last time. She would then look at him and smile though it was tinged in premature grief. The years were kind to them in their love and affections never waning but they were no longer those naive children believing the world will always be righteous. They now knew better. So they would stand together until the end. She was the first to die and Alistair found himself screaming at the sight of Corypheus’ dragon shaking her corpse like a ragdoll before unceremoniously throwing her at his feet. Grip tightening on his sword, Alistair charges forward.
“You had killed the best of us. Don’t think I will ever forget that.”
Leliana: News of the Hero of Ferelden’s death reached her ears as Alexius’ prisoner. The guards would taunt her, constantly reminding her that the Hero of Ferelden, her dearest friend, was now gone. She heard of their last stand, their brave battle against Corypheus’ forces, but in that very same breath she would hear her friend cursed and mocked. Her heart becomes nothing more than stone and all she could feel is a numbing hatred as a vow forms within her. They will be avenged and the world will remember their name even if she must carve it into the very core of the earth to remind them.
“You took everything from me. Do you honestly think that I would bend to your whims now that you took them? You are gravely mistaken.”
Romanced: When news came to her that her beloved, her lover, her best friend, her best half had been killed in the battle against Corypheus, Leliana refused to believe it. How can she believe such slander? This was her beloved, the Hero of Ferelden they were talking about! Her lover would never fall under such circumstances. In all her years of knowing them, of loving them, Leliana had seen their strength unparalleled and she knew it cannot be them. Not them. Never them. It wasn’t until Alexius sent someone to her to present a lock of familiar hair with dried Andraste’s Grace blossoms braided in said locks that she was forced to see what she refused to acknowledge. Leliana remembers breaking that night. Screaming, trying to fight the soldier that served the monster who had taken her beloved away from her only to be struck down and spat on. And then at night, bitter tears would stream down her face until no more tears can be shed. Their memories together were the only mementoes she could keep now for ever since her capture, all her belongings had been stripped away from her. The eyes that looked upon her with adoration, the lips that would curve upwards into a loving smile as she sang, those arms that embraced her with a tightness that reassured her of their presence, all those memories were the only things she had left of her beloved Warden and yet, even as she tried to cling onto those memories, certain features begin to fade. First was their voice, their laughter, their words; then came their face shape, whether or not they really had a scar on their face or not; finally, she forgot the feeling of their touch. Was their skin smooth? Rough? Was their grip on her waist gentle or firm? It had been too long. Leliana screamed and cried for each forgotten part of her heart. Come the light of a new day she cannot see, Leliana made a vow: Corypheus and his minions will rue the day that they had torn away her heart and left behind the Spymaster all too willing to destroy their world for destroying hers first. They took everything from her. She only wants to return the favour.
“’twas all my fault in the end. Perhaps all their greatness made me forget...they were also once nothing more than a mortal.”
Morrigan: She was among those that had survived the downfall of Orlais. She had fled with Kieran after Empress Celene was assassinated and returned to hiding in forests or moving through various parts of the eluvians in hopes of remaining hidden until she finishes weighing her options. The solution to the current problem was all too clear to her. She ventures out to find her friend in the hopes that they could help defeat Corypheus. After all, were they not the one that had slain the tainted Old God, Urthemiel? She had confidence in their abilities. So she sought them out, exchanged messages, made plans and when the two were certain it was achievable, she bade her friend farewell and wished them luck. Luck and Fortune had always favoured them. Until it no longer did. She was the first of their group to know of the Hero of Ferelden’s demise and upon hearing it, Morrigan could only feel even more certain that hope was no longer something present. She can only just watch as darkness engulfs the land and Corypheus’ armies begin their march to conquer Thedas in the name of no god that ever existed. And deep down...Morrigan blames herself.
“Never forget, Kieran, your father was a good man. Perhaps foolishly so. And he loved us very dearly.”
Romanced: She asked her beloved not to go. She pleads with him and bargains with him, reminding him of Kieran, of his desire to be cured, of their hope of a bigger family. But as always, her brave, honourable, foolish lover had just cupped her face in both calloused hands and brushed a kiss she barely felt over her lips before reminding her that his own duty was to protect the world from things they cannot protect themselves from. “The oldest darkspawn, eh? Well, that can’t be anymore different than battling an Old God.” he had told her with a twinkle in his eye. Morrigan wanted to curse at him but she had shown enough weakness already. So she pulls him down into a heated kiss and reminds him of their plans once more, that he was beholden to her and that he was forbidden from abandoning her and Kieran. With a laugh, her beloved promises his return. That return never comes. Instead, Corypheus erects her lover’s corpse on the walls of his stronghold as a reminder that even the greatest will fall beneath him. Morrigan could only remember screaming and finally breaking as she realises her beloved, her darling, her better half, the father of her son, was now gone. Lost to her. Lost to Kieran. And yet, she cannot grieve him. Not yet at least. So she packs her things, then Kieran’s, and though she knows it to be useless now, she packs his things as well. Taking her son by the hand, the two proceed to flee away from everything that Corypheus might want to claim and she and her son live in the world of the eluvians where she teaches him of his brave father while reminding him to be more selfish and know when the world must be left well alone than to leave their loved ones in a state of perpetual heartache.
“Sodding darkspawn always gotta take the best of us...”
Oghren:: Oghren was among the last to hear of the Warden’s fate. He was with Felsi and their child and he found himself reaching for the ale upon the news. Death was nothing new to the dwarf. The Deep Roads, the Blight, the Awakening, everything that he had gone through made sure he was prepared for news of any of his friends’ or companions’ deaths. And yet there he was, drinking away the suffocating grief. The Warden saw something in him that no one else had back in Orzammar. Sometimes, not even something he saw in himself. They were a better man than he could ever hope to be and somehow, whatever stone-blasted god that existed for the non-dwarves had decided a person like them deserved to die while Oghren didn’t. How was this considered fair?
“They were a good warrior. They will not be forgotten.”
Sten: Sten had seen this defeat coming and had tried to warn his friend of that possibility. But from what he had seen and understood of them in their time together, they had always been stubborn. Always so sure that righteousness shall prevail and that evil will fall. But as he watches the darkness coming towards them, all he could do was direct his men to safer areas. They shall flee but not to safety. For though in the past he had criticised his kadan of such heroic deeds, Sten finds himself now wanting to keep their spirit alive. Once the dawn breaks, Sten shall be leading his people to Ferelden and from there? They shall regroup, they shall plan. And when they are ready, they shall attack with the Hero of Ferelden’s name as their battlecry.
“Remember how I told you I would storm even the Black City for you? I suppose that now is the time, my friend.”
Zevran: He was there. He never left the Warden’s side. Not after finally getting rid of the Antivan Crows’ leaders and taking over himself. So when his friend took him to a lair of the first darkspawn, as they put it, he was expecting another success. They were the one who had ended an entire Blight, after all, this should be as easy as breathing, yes? So he packs up his things, promises his companionship to them once more and goes on the journey with them. Throughout the journey, Zevran spent their time together chattering away to fill the silence, making a few jokes and making sure the Warden kept that smile on their face. He didn’t expect all of that smiling and joking to come to this. The battle was not decided nor was it yours to win. Zevran could only watch as the Warden was flung from the battlements of Redcliffe’s castle, their body limp and broken. It reminded him too much of the Battle of Denerim while also being everything but that. And with that memory came another. Donning a smirk that hid his grief and guilt at his failure of protecting his friend, Zevran spun his daggers before making a final stand against Corypheus.
“Ah. Still so cruel to the end, my love. Never you mind, I will follow you regardless.”
Romanced: What more can he say? He loves his Warden. He will kill for them and die for them because what life would there be without his beloved? So when his Warden brings up the news of a would-be god attempting to cow the world into submission, he knew better than to just stand back and allow them to take on the beast by themself. The night before they stormed Corypheus’ lair, he kissed each finger, their calloused palms, their burdened shoulders, he marvelled at their strength and praised their beauty with all the sincerity that filled him. The day after, he fastened his earring to his beloved, making them promise to have that long-awaited wedding, preferably with their old friends. His lover smiles and they moved onwards. They did not acknowledge the grim truth that awaited them. Instead, they stormed the lair, killed demons and took down Venatori mages, adamant on ending this farce once and for all. Zevran was certain they now had the upperhand but when they came upon the abomination that called himself a god, Zevran was ready to take his love away and keep them safe. But with that same strength and confidence from a decade ago, they charged and held their own against the monster for a time. Until Corypheus called forth his dragon. With ice gathering in the pit of his stomach and dread filling his heart, he scrambled forward to battle the beast only to be pushed aside by his beloved. They were mortal. The world saw them as a god, the world lauded them as invincible, all-powerful...but they did not see the stitches, the scars and aches that Zevran was witness to. The hurts he so lovingly tended to. With horrified eyes, he watched as his beloved’s light was crushed into nothing but a void darkness. It was Rinna. It was Taliesin. It was his lovers killed and somehow it was worse now. He did not save his beloved. He did not kill them but he might as well have twisted the dagger into their gut. With trembling hands, he picked up his daggers and turned to face Corypheus. He will end this. For them. And if he falls in the process... that would be less than what he deserved.
