I Don't Need Healing
Written for DabiHawks week 2023 Day 7 Prompt: Supernatural Creatures Fandom: BNHA/ MHA Characters: Dabi & Hawks Words: 792 Summary: Hawks is a bird only found in mythology. He was being used against his will for the greater good then one day Dabi comes along
Hawks huffed as he flew away from the children’s hospital as fast as he could, he had to get rid of this sickness. Kids were relying on him, and a shock from the collar around his neck, made him drop in the air for only a second.
Finally, in the designated empty field he was able to fly towards the sun to get rid of the sickness, curing at least five children from the hospital.
His phone buzzed with the next location as he sighed and started to fly back toward the city. He made it to the city center, and right as he ran out of fuel, a shock once again made him fall, but this time he wasn't able to stop it.
“You okay?” a foot nudged him.
Hawks could feel how hurt the person was. He felt the need to take the sickness away, but being so low on fuel he didn’t have the energy, instead groaning and letting his body shut down.
“Okay this is just sad,” the man said as Hawks felt arms lift him up and carry him to an unknown destination.
“Alright try and open up,” the man said after Hawks has been sitting down for a few minutes, opening his mouth as what must be soup went into his mouth. “Slow bites,” the man said, as Hawks felt the buzzing in his pocket, his hand inching to grab it, but the man stopped him.
“Whoever it is ignore them. They are not as important as your health,” but the fear of a shock coming helped pushed Hawks to grab the phone. Right as he was able to grasp it the phone stopped ringing and dread filled his stomach.
Without warning shocks began to ripple through his body making him scream in pain.
“Shit!” Hawks could hear the guy say as he felt the collar being ripped from his neck, letting him pass out from the pain.
Hawks woke up to a scarred man looking down on him, it felt like he was on a cloud.
“Glad to see you’re away,” the man said.
“You’re sick,” Hawks replied the same need to take the sickness away invading his mind, shaking his head he didn’t think about it. He can control his instincts.
“I don’t know about sick, but I am what people call heavily injured,” the man shrugged as Hawks finally took a look around the room.
“Where am I?”
“My place. Found you passed out in an alleyway. You were trying to go somewhere, but you couldn’t physically move. I decided to help you. Saw that hell of a collar on you and broke it. So what’s up with you?” the man asked.
“You took the collar off?” Hawks asked, touching his neck, feeling healing shock wounds around his neck.
“Yep. You passed out instantly after it started going off. Been asleep for a week now.”
“A week!?” Hawks asked shocked, sitting up in a panic as thoughts went through hs head.
“Hey calm down! Nothing bad is going to happen. I already trashed your phone. Nothing is going to happen to you,” the man promised.
“But people die without me!” Hawks said panicked.
“People die either way. It’s okay to leave someone else with the responsibility.”
“What am I supposed to do? Where am I supposed to go?” Hawks asked.
“You could always stay here and live your life,” the man shrugged. “I’m Dabi by the way.”
“Oh um I’m Hawks,” the blonde smiled.
“So why do these crazy people want you?” Dabi asked, passing the blonde a drink.
“I’m something called a Caladrius. I can take people’s illnesses away and dispel it. I was being sent to cure a children’s hospital,” Hawks shrugged.
“While that’s nice you were killing yourself in the process. Hate to say it, but that won’t slide here. I like my roommates to be alive,” Dabi said as a feeling Hawks has never felt before formed in his stomach making it churn. He couldn’t decide if it was good or bad.
“I think I can work with that,” Hawks smiled and thus the two started to live together.
“I can take the pain away?” Hawks whispered one night, they’ve been living together for a few months now.
“No thanks Birdie. I need it so I can remember,” Dabi said back, dropping the subject. Hawks never understood what Dabi meant, but he would respect the wishes as long as his friend wasn’t dying from it.
“I do appreciate the thought. Maybe one day I’ll take you up on it,” Dabi smiled, letting the two go back to sleep.
“Maybe one day I’ll be able to pay you back for everything you’ve done,” Hawks said back, going back to sleep.

You're Mine
Written for Dabihawks week 2023 day 2 Prompt: Arranged Marriage Fandom: Boku no hero academia Characters: Todorkoi Family, Hawks, Dabi, Endeavor Words: 1470 Summary: The Hero Commison think that Enji's popularity poll is falling too low for the number one hero, so to up his status they have arranged a marriage between him and Hawks. Like hell, Dabi is letting that bastard take his bird away!
“Hawks, do you understand what you have to do?” the woman and leader of Japan’s most powerful organization asked the number two hero as if he was still a child.
“Yes madam president I understand,” Hawks responded, clenching his teeth.
“You will be brought to the Todorkoi residence tomorrow night. Be dressed and ready. If this dinner does not go well you will be punished accordingly,” the glare in her eyes was a silent promise.
“Yes, madam president,” Hawks responded again, never changing his tone, just clenching the file within his hands that explained his latest mission.
“Then you are dismissed,” she waved her hand, giving him the full cue to leave.
The flight back to his apartment was quick, as was the side trip he made to the liquor store, making sure he had enough to make the commission disappointed in him.
Throwing the file on his counter he bought his bags over to his coffee table, putting on something boring on the tv, not bothering to pay attention as he chugged the first drink, tossing it aside to grab the next one. He saw his phone vibrating on the table, but he honestly didn’t care, finishing the second drink and grabbing the third.
By the time he had finished the last drink in his first six-pack there was a knocking on his window, thinking it was his drunk imagination, he decided to leave it, only to hear the knocking again, this time accompanied by a voice.
“Damn it Hawks! Let me in! It’s fucking freezing out here!” Dabi’s voice rang throughout his ears.
Seeing the blue fire user with his blurry vision he got out from the couch, falling instantly when his mind made him see doubles, but he had to let Dabi in or risk replacing his windows. Stumbling to the doors, he opened the door, falling into Dabi’s arms.
“Drinking alone hero?” Dabi asked, a smirk on his face.
“Last day of freedom. Wanted to enjoy it,” Hawks told him, getting out of the fire user's arms to trip back over to the couch.
“Well, you smell like a bar. Have you eaten anything?” he asked, holding up the bag in his hands.
“Don’t want to,” Hawks shrugged, using a talon to open the next bottle.
“I’ll make you something, but you have to eat it,” Dabi ordered him as he walked over to the kitchen, noting the file with the official hero commission symbol on it.
“Birdie what’s this?” Dabi asked, opening the file fully to read it, instead of the worrying glances he was getting.
“My new cell,” Hawks answered, finishing the drink, and opening the next one. Dabi was going to have to stop him soon.
Hawks's official mission. The number one Hero Endeavor has been losing popularity in polls recently. Society can not officially deal with the loss of another top hero. To fix this delicate situation you are to have dinner at the Todorki’s residence where Endeavor will propose. You will say yes and move in, making the two of you an official couple. Listen to everything he says.
Dabi wasn't able to read the rest as the file burned in his hands. It was all starting to make sense to him. The damn commission arranged a marriage between his bird and his father. That is not fucking happening.
Quickly finishing the food he walked over to Hawks. Taking the drink out of his hand and replacing it with food.
“Hey!”
“Eat,” was Dabi’s response as he grabbed the rest of the alcohol, replacing it with water as he picked up the empty bottles.
“Don’t wanna,” Hawks shook his head, tears in his eyes.
“I know why you don’t want to and that’s okay. Everything will be fine. I’m not letting that bastard have any hold of you,” Dabi promised.
“How can you promise that?” Hawks asked, tears in his eyes, tears Dabi was amazed the hero was actually showing him. No acts, no playing for either side, no lies, just pure tears of sadness and loss of hope.
“You’re mine birdie and no one else can have you,” Dabi promised, the plan forming in his head. After making sure he finished his food and drank at least two glasses of water Dabi laid him down in bed, setting some Tylenol on the side for him.
The next day Hawks woke up with a killer hangover and a feeling of dread in his stomach. Going through the motions it was time for his car to arrive, dressing nice like the commission asked he walked downstairs and saw the car door already opened for him.
“Don’t look so down Hawksie!” a familiar voice said, making Hawks do a double take and look at the two in the car. The first looked like a normal driver, but there was a second in the driver seat, covered head to toe, but he could see the scars poking out from underneath the mask.
“What are you two doing!” Hawks panicked.
“I promised I wouldn’t let him, have you. The commission may be able to order you to do a lot of things but they cannot force you to marry someone, especially a man who is already married,” Dabi glared in the mirror.
“Dabi promised me we were going to cause some mischief! I just have to wait till he tells me I can push the button!” Toga cheered getting in the car, and the two drove to the Todorkokir residence.
“Ready crazy?” Dabi asked, changing his clothes into something more professional, that doesn’t hide his face very well.
“Absolutely!” Toga gave the two a thumbs up as Dabi got out of the car, opening the door for Hawks.
“What if someone sees you!?” Hawks panicked, looking around.
“That’s kinda the idea,” Dabi laughed, helping the hero get out of the car before walking up the house, not ringing the doorbell before dragging Hawks inside, looking back towards Toga to make sure she pushed the button.
It didn’t take five minutes before the two youngest Todorkoi were yelling for their father, a panicked Fuyummi trying to calm everyone down and a confused Hawks wondering how Dabi knows his way around the man’s house so damn well.
Walking into the room where everyone was attention was finally brought to Hawks and Dabi.
“What is he doing here?” Shoto accused pointing a finger at the villain.
“Well heard dad was getting married, had to come to see the news for myself,” Dabi smirked as Hawks looked between the family and Dabi.
“Dad?”Hawks asked, ignoring the confused faces around him, there was enough confusion in his head from just him.
“You die one time and everyone thinks you’re dead for good!” Dabi grumbled, getting a cigarette out, and rolling his eyes.
“Touya!?” Fuyumi asked shocked.
“Who else would it fucking be? The tooth fairy? Damn to think Crusty figured it out before any of you is just pathetic,” Dabi lit the cigarette.
“But it’s not possible,” Endeavor looked towards him.
“Oh yeah, it is. Completely ruined my plans to kill you, but it was worth it because I caught on to the fact that you’re trying to steal my bird. It’s fine I killed your reputation instead. About right now Toga just sent a copy of the official report to every news source about the Hero Commission forcing the public’s favorite number two hero into an unwanted marriage with the number one. Not only that but files on everything you’ve ever done to this family. Now Let me make one thing and one thing clear. Hawks is mine and you do not get to look, touch, or talk to him ever again,” Dabi glared at the man.
“You’re still going to kill him right?” Natsuo asked, a dead look on his face making Fuyumi glare at him and her youngest brother look up to Dabi with hope in his eyes.
“Not yet. Let’s let him face some consequences first,” Dabi smiled, hugging the two younger brothers before finally looking at Hawks.
“You good birdie?” the fire user asked.
“You- You’re a Todoroki?” Hawks asked.
“Yep is that a problem?” Dabi asked.
“No. I just love you so much more than I thought!” Hawks said, jumping into the villain’s arms.
“Ready to go home?” Dabi asked.
“Yeah I’m ready,” Hawks smiled as the two walked out the door to get back to Toga, but not before Dabi gave his siblings his contact info. Escaping just in time for the police to come knocking on the door.
“Thank you,” Hawks said one more time, crying once they got back to his apartment.
“Like I said you’re mine. No one takes what’s mine,” Dabi promised as he kissed the bird, the two quickly moving to the bedroom for an exciting night.

You Want to Fake date me? I thought we Were Dating Already
Written for DabiHawks week 2023 Day 5 Prompt: Fake dating Fandom: MHA, BNHA Characters: Dabi, Hawks, Todoroki Family Words: 1202 Summary: Dabi needs a way to piss off his father at a family diner, what better way than to announce his boyfriend he got at college. . .why didn't anyone tell him Shoto had come out first.
“You want me to fake date you in hopes that your father will never want to talk to you again?” Keigo Takami asked his college roommate, an unbelievable expression on his face.
“Well, why not?” Dabi asked, a look of confusion on his face.
“How do you know this will even work?”
“Cause he hates me and everything I do but my sister has this dream of us being a ‘happy’ family. I’m thinking if I can disappoint him enough with my gay ass he will drop me and forget I exist.”
“You are just full of Daddy issues aren’t you,” Keigo rolled his eyes.
“Oh like you’re one to talk,” Dabi snapped, making the blonde laugh.
“What’s in it for me?” Keigo asked, crossing his arms.
“I’ll suck your dick whenever you want for a month?” Dabi tried.
“Really? You do that if I ask you to already.”
“You get a free trip to the beach?” Dabi smiled.
“Fine I’ll take both,” Keigo smiled, he knows he could have made Dabi work harder for it, but he couldn’t say no to his tattooed roommate, it’s a problem that has been brought up to him multiple times.
This leads to a week later, the two are free for spring break flying out to Dabi’s hometown.
“Touya welcome home!” a woman, smaller than him with white hair that had little red flecks in it smiled, hugging him.
“It’s Dabi,” Touya rolled his eyes, but still hugged her back, it made Keigo smile seeing his angsty roommate act like he has a heart.
“And who is this?” she let go of the hug, holding her hand out to him.
“Keigo Takami,” Keigo smiled, taking the hand.
“Fuyumi, Touya’s younger sister.
“This is my boyfriend,” Dabi smirked proudly.
“You sure? Because the smirk says it’s another ploy to get the old man pissed at you,” a white-haired guy said, joining the conversation.
“Touya! Don’t tell me Natsuo’s right?”
“Sorry sis. Kei this is my younger brother Natsuo. Not to brag but I’m kind of the oldest,” Dabi beamed.
“Doesn’t mean he’s smart,” the final Todoroki sibling deadpanned, not staying to chat, just to throw in his two cents.
“That’s Shoto. He’s still in high school,” Fuyumi informed him as she made everyone move inside.
“So when will dear old dad be here?” Dabi asked, sitting on the couch.
“He’ll be here for dinner. He’s excited you decided to show up,” Fuyumi beamed clapping her hands. Dabi scoffed, putting his arm over Keigo’s shoulder, admitting making the blonde blush.
“So how did you two meet?” Fuyumi asked.
“Oh he’s my roommate,” Dabi said.
“You got your roommate to play your fake boyfriend,” Natsuo laughed.
“Hey, we can so pass for a real couple!” Dabi yelled back.
“Touya you are so fucking stupid,” Fuyumi said as his siblings died into arguing, Keigo laughing at seeing him be carefree. As long as he ignores the pain in his chest he’ll be fine.
“Well, dinner will be ready soon if you want to make your way to the dining room. I’ll let Sho know,” Fuyumi stood up.
“I actually need to run to the restroom,” Keigo said.
“First door on the right,” Dani tilted his head.
“You can do this Kei! Your roommate is just an idiot. It’s one dinner and then you don’t have to do it ever again,” Keigo splashed some water on his face, anything to make the feelings go away. Dabi was too dumb to catch on to what was going on inside his stupid head.
“He’s so smart but so lovingly dumb,” Keigo sighed, washing his hands and exiting the small room only to be surprised by the youngest sibling.
“Are you really dating Touya?” Shoto asked, walking with him to the dining room.
“Yeah kid we are,” Keigo smiled.
“Don’t lie for Touya. You’ll get hurt. He’s too much of an idiot to realize what’s right in front of him,” Shoto rolled his eyes, leaving his side as they entered the dining room.
“So Enji, meet my boyfriend Keigo Takaimi,” Dabi introduced him as he sat down for dinner.
“It is nice to meet you Keigo,” Enji tried to give a welcoming smile, but it honestly just creeped him out.
“Oh uh, yeah nice to meet you too,” Hawks said, sitting down.
“Izuku’s going to be picking me up after school tomorrow,” Shoto said, calmly eating his food.
“That’s nice. He’s a good kid,” Enji smiled and Dabi was shocked at how accepting his father was.
“Now might be a bad time, but Shoto has been dating this Izuku kid for like three months now and told Dad instantly in a way to get him to leave him alone,” Natsuo whispered to his older brother, an evil smirk on his face.
“All my good laid plains to ruin,” Dabi huffed, eating his food.
“Can I ask you a question Keigo?” Enji said, fully ignoring his children with well ease practice.
“You already did but go off,” Keigo shrugged.
“I am trying to be a better father and was wondering if you really cared for my eldest child?” Enji asked, causing a hush to fall over the table.
“I have never met someone who brought more joy in my life. He keeps things exciting. He understand me and where I grew up it was hard to find someone like him. He willingly chooses to move off campus with me. He understands when I’m having my bad days. He will skip class for me and I’ve never had anyone in my life who cared about me as much as he does. He’s helped me more than I ever thought I deserved,” Keigo smiled as a realization hit Dabi square in the chest.
Realizing he might have said too much Keigo quickly stands up asking to be excused, before walking out of the house to the yard.
“Stupid idiot! Why would you say that? Rumi was right you are a true dumbass!” Keigo yelled at himself.
“Did you mean what you said?” Dabi asked, scaring the shit out of Keigo.
“What? Oh yeah no of course I didn’t! You wanted it to be real didn’t you?” Keigo asked as Dabi walked closer.
“Don’t fuck with me Kei! I’ve seen you act and your shit at it! I’ve never seen you like this before!” Dabi yelled back as Keigo looked at him in shock.
“What does it matter if I meant it? You don’t feel the same way. I am happy to just go along as we have been. I can live with just touches as long as it’s you,” Keigo smiled at the tattooed man.
“You dumbass. You can never just accept the fact that someone may like you,” Dabi rolled his eyes pulling the blonde in closer and kissing him.
It was better than the late night the two have had, rolling around in the sheets, better than the looks they would give each other when the other wasn’t looking. It was better than anything in the world because Keigo knows it comes from a place of love.
“Bout time he stopped being an idiot,” Shoto rolled his eyes as the siblings cheered for them.

"I'm Sorry"
Written for DabiHawks week 2023 day 6 Prompt: Canon Divergence (takes place During the fight between Hawks and Twice) Fandom: MHA/ BNHA Characters: Hawks, Dabi, Twice, Toga Words: 787 Summary: Hawks doesn't want to listen to orders, but he has no chance. In a last-ditch effort to avoid what he must do he begs Twice to turn around. Dabi isn't dealing with this bullshit.
“Hawks stop! You don’t have to do this!” Twice screamed as the number two hero held a feather as sharp as a sword over him. “Do it! You know you want to! Kill me” Twice said.
Hawks’s hand was wavering, tears forming in his eyes as he looked into the villain’s eyes. “Please. Just run. Don’t make me hurt you. I DON’T WANT TO HURT YOU” Hawks yelled, begging in his eyes for Twice to do anything, anything at all that will make sure Hawks won’t have to hurt him.
“It’s okay. I’ll be okay,” Twice smiled at him, grabbing the feather in a tight grip, making the blood drip down his hand as he bought the feather closer to his heart. “Just kill me and get it over with you good for nothing hero.”
With tears streaming down his face Hawks straightened the feather to stab it through Twice. He would have gone through with it too if Dabi didn’t storm it, burning the feather to a crisp, and making the hero wince at the pain.
“What the actual fuck are the two of you doing?” Dabi asked, glaring at the two.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry. I don’t want to! I don’t want to hurt any of you!” Hawks cried, falling to his knees as the two villains looked at him and then at each other.
“Twice grab Toga and get out of here. I got the bird,” Dabi said, a certain sadness and understanding in his voice.
Twice quickly got up and ran away, Dabi looking down picked up the broken number two hero and started to walk away, getting the two fully out of combat and to safety. Within minutes of picking him up the Hero was passed out, no longer awake.
“Is he going to be okay?” Toga asked, now that the battle was over and they were all back at the hideout.
“He’s been through a lot,” Dabi informed her, changing the bandages of the hero.
“He’s a traitor! Why are we keeping him around?” Spinner glared down at him.
“He deserves a second chance. Plus I want to talk to him. If I don’t like what he has to say I’ll just burn him,” Dabi shrugged, as if he really didn’t have any connections to the bird.
“Rumi?” Hawks’ tired voice spoke softly, eyes opening up.
“Not Rumi birdie,” Dabi spoke softly, pushing the bird back down on the couch.
“Dabi? No! Why am I here? Why didn’t you kill me? Kill me! Please I failed my mission please just kill me,” Hawks sat up, begging into Dabi’s arms.
“No one is going to kill you pretty bird,” Dabi tried to calm him down, the others looking at the two confused.
“Why? I’m a traitor to the league. I’m a traitor to the heroes. I almost killed Twice for fucks sake and you’re still here?” Hawks continued to cry.
“You begged Twice to run. No one is going to hurt you and Twice is fine. I’m fine. No one is injured too badly. We know why you did what you did and it’s okay. We knew you were a double agent since day one pretty bird,” Dabi spoke softly, letting Hawks cry.
“Then why keep me around?”
“You’re fun,” Dabi shrugged.
“That can’t be it. There’s plenty of fun around the league. Tgoa is fun, Twice is fun, Spinner is even fun. Why am I still here?” Hawks glared at the man.
“You’re like us Hawks. You’ve been broken by this world and thrown around just for the sake of a hero society. We don’t blame you for any of it. We know what your mission entailed since the beginning. Twice was to never be left alone with you, but that was a mistake on our part. Keigo you are one of us,” Dabi ordered as Hawks’s eyes went wide.
“How do you know that name?” he asked.
“It’s your’s,” Dabi shrugged looking away as he got a cigarette out, anything to look like he didn’t care.
“It’s not my name. Not anymore. I haven’t been Keigo for over ten years. The commission killed him along with the rest of the Takami family,” Hawks looked down at his hands in his lap.
“We would like it- I would like it very much if Keigo was to come back,” Dabi said softly, grabbing one of Hawk- Keigo’s hands.
“I guess I could give it a try,” Keigo smiled at the villain and this time the League knew that Hawks was on their side. They know that he could never be a full villain, his heart was to good for this world, but they would help and protect him when needed.

We'll Protect You
Written for DabiHawks week Day 3 Prompt: Parenting Fandom: My Hero Academia Characters: Hawks, Dabi, Tokoyami, and OC Child Words: 1792 Summary: It's been a few years now since the LOV disbanded. Dabi is now a certified house wife, unable to be in public, Hawks is now running his hero agency by himself, and they have the most beautiful girl in the world. She comes home one day with a conversation topic Dabi was not ready to parent, lucky for him Hawks was ready to take over Warning: Quirk Discrimination
“Papa wake up!” Mavis, a small girl of the age of five shouted as she jumped on top of a scared man. A scared man whose glare could kill, but this little girl was never scared of him.
“I’m up I’m up,” Dabi waved his hand in front of the girl to get her to stop jumping up and down on his hurt body.
“Breakfast!” The girl cheered, getting off of the giant bed, and running towards the kitchen.
Ruffling his hair with his hand he sighed as he got out of bed, putting on a pair of pants and a baggy T-shirt. His daughter may be exposed to his facial and arm scars, but she had no need to see the rest of his body, no matter what the dumb bird said.
“Where’s your father?” Dabi asked, walking to the kitchen as the girl flapped her blue wings to sit on the counter. “Not too close,” Dabi pushed her towards the edge, so she wouldn’t be near the fire.
“Daddy went out to work,” the girl shrugged,” watching as her scared father broke a few eggs into a bowl and started to mix them.
“Of course he did,” Dabi sighed looking at the time and seeing as it was still early. “Alright, how about some eggs for breakfast? Your uncle Tokoyami will be here soon to bring you to school?” Dabi asked. Ruffleing the girl's blonde hair.
“Really papa! Eggs! I love eggs! Almost as I love chicken!” the girl cheered, falling backward off the counter, Dabi wasn’t worried as her wings caught her fall and she just flapped back onto the counter.
“You need to pay more attention. How many times have I told you to not fall off the counter,” Dabi rolled his eyes, a smile never leaving his face as she smiled with him.
“Too many, but Papa it’s so much fun to fly! Hasn’t daddy ever taken you flying?” she asked as he thought back to when he and the number two hero first met and Hawks would pick him up with no warning to fly around in the air. He hated every minute of it.
“Yeah, he did. I never like it, but if you love to fly so much then you should fly as much as you want to,” Dabi smiled, taking the eggs off the pan and onto a plate, moving the food to the table.
“Aww! I want to eat on the counter,” she pouted.
“None of that now. Food is to be eaten at the table,” he told her, walking to the fridge to get her a juice box.
“Thank you for the food,” the two said as they began to eat.
“Alright, do you need help getting ready?” Dabi asked Mavis, bringing the plates to the sink.
“No I can do it by myself,” she said, washing her hands and running off to her room to get ready for school.
Dabi gave a smile as he checked his phone to see a message from the number two hero, “Early patrol. Be back around lunch. Love you!”
“Love you too,” Dabi was quick to text back before focusing on his chores.
“Papa,” a tug on his pants leg made him look down.
“Yes, Mavis?” Dabi asked, getting on her eye level.
“I need help tying my shoes,” she held up the pair, an embarrassed look on her face as he smiled softly at her, to think a few years ago he was a big and terrifying villain. He really has gone soft.
“I’ll help you,” he put his daughter in his lap as he put her shoes on, teaching her step by step how to tie them. He knows she’ll ask again tomorrow, just like she did today, but it’s okay. Dabi will go over it with her as many times as he needs to till she knows.
Right after she jumped out of his lap there was a knock on the door. “Come in!” Dabi yelled as his husband's favorite sidekick walked through the door.
“Uncle Tokoyami!” Mavis screamed, jumping in his arms.
“Good morning to you as well Mavis. I see the darkness still hasn't gotten its hold on you,” Tokoyami greeted, easily catching the small girl.
“Really gotta stop with the darkness talk around her,” Dabi scratched his head.
“Good morning to you to Dabi,” Tokoyami’s voice turned cold.
“Yeah yeah, I know you hate my guts. Here’s her backpack. Her homework is in the back pocket and I already placed her lunch in the front. I love you Mavis see you when you get home,” Dabi hugged and kissed his daughter waving bye as the two walked away.
“That kid is never going to like me,” Dabi huffed, closing the door behind the two.
Having the house to himself Dabi quickly finished his daily chores, the dishes, laundry, making sure Mavis made her bed correctly, along with fixing up any missing things in her room, and finally fixing up his and Keigo’s room. By the time his chores were done he was able to start on lunch.
“I’m back,” Hawks’ tired voice said, walking in through the window.
“Welcome home,” Dabi said, plating the food right as the hero walked in, and setting it down on the table.
“Mavis made it to school on time?” he asked.
“Yep, and your sidekick still doesn’t like me. I still don’t think telling him about me was a good idea,” Dabi grumbled, taking a bite of rice.
“Someone has to bring Mavis to school. You’re still a villain, an inactive one, but if people saw you bringing a child to school every day it would be noticeable,” Hawks said, pointing his chopsticks at the fire user.
“Yeah. I’m happy keeping her in the dark about my past,” Dabi said sadly.
“Touya. We’re going to have to tell her someday. She loves heroes and spends a lot of time at the agency. Everyone has NDAs signed so no one can talk about her but that doesn’t stop her from talking or others from asking questions,” Hawks said, a sad look on her face,
“She can be a hero, a vigilante, hell even a villain if she really wants to. I don’t care I just want her to be happy,” Dabi said.
“And she will be. One day we will tell her everything about us. When we do she will be angry but after we give her some time to think she’ll be over it and still love us. She can’t get rid of us as easy as she thinks,” Hawks smiled at the villain as a beep went off.
“Shit, I’m gonna be late!” Hawks panicked, quickly eating the rest of his food as he gave Dabi and kiss and flew away.
“Dumbass,” Dabi smiled fondly as he picked up the dishes, putting away the dry ones before washing the new ones. Having all of his chores done he took his daily nap and played a few video games. Before he knew it there was a knock on the front door it opened wide and a smiling Mavis came through.
“Papa we’re home!”
“Welcome home,” Dabi smiled at her, pausing his game. “Did the teachers say anything?” Dabi asked Tokoyami.
“Nothing much. She said that a few of the parents were talking about her, but other than that nothing big,” Tokoyami shrugged, looking down at his unofficial niece. “I know we talked on the way here, but remember how much your dads love you. Okay?” Tokoyami gave a smile as he ruffled her hair.
It was later that night, and the small family of three enjoying dinner. It was quieter than usual without Mavis talking wildly about her day at school and it had the two parents worried.
“Daddy? Papa?” the two looked up at her, waiting for her to get her thoughts together. “Am I a freak?” she asked.
“Where did you hear that?” Keigo asked, looking at her worriedly.
“Some of the kids said that they're not allowed to play with me because their parents said I was a mutant freak,” Mavis told them and it took everything in Dabi’s power to not light their kitchen table on fire.
“Mavis honey look at me,” Hawks said, seeing how Dabi can’t parent this one till his anger dies down.
“There are some quirks in this world that make changes to one's body. For instance, you and I have beautiful wings. These wings come with other things like extra feathers, talons, and even the markings on our eyes. Now there is nothing wrong with you at all! I want to make that perfectly clear,” Hawks put a finger up to make sure she understood.
“Then why do the others not like me?” she asked.
“They don’t like you because they think quirks shouldn’t make changes to the human body, but they are wrong. It is illegal and falls under discrimination law to well basically treat someone differently because of their quirks,” Hawks did his best to explain the actual complicated law in simple terms. “People will still be mean to you and some might not like you, but they can’t change prices or deny you service because of it.”
“Mavis there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Anyone who tells you differently is wrong and- they're just wrong,” Dabi told her giving her a big hug.
“Okay, Daddy! Okay, papa!” the girl smiled as she finished eating.
Once she was asleep, the two cleaning up after dinner did Dabi voice his true thoughts. “I’ll kill them. I’ll kill them all!”
“No, you won’t. You’ve changed so much for Mavis and I won’t let you fall back into bad habits. What I told her was true. She can be bullied and people can hate her for her quirk all she wants but in the future, they can’t refuse her a job, schooling, or food. Jeanist, Orca, and I made sure about that. We spent years perfecting those laws so others wouldn’t be affected as we were,” Hawks gave Dabi a comforting hug.
“Kei what you went through wasn't discrimination it was abuse,” Dabi grits his teeth.
“I know and I have to deal with that, but I’m out of their hands. They can’t do anything to me and like hell, I’ll never give Mavis to them. She’s going to deal with this a lot throughout her life, but we’ll be here to help her.”
“I won’t ruin all that we worked for to get revenge on a few stupid parents,” Dabi agreed, turning around to hug Hawks back.
“And you thought you were the only one worried about passing on their quirk,” Keigo laughed as Dabi playfully whacked him.
“Dumbass,” the two laughed.

I'm Finally Me
Written for DabiHawks Week 2023 Day 1 Prompt: Genderswap Fandom: BNHA Characters: Dabi, Hawks Words: 1007 Summary: Hawks never felt right in his body. How could he? It was the wrong one. Then one day Hawks wakes up and his body felt different. . .it felt right. Featuring FTM Hawks
“Ugh my body feels weird,” Hawks complained as he flew through the sky, landing in his apartment.
“Welcome home Birdie,” Dabi greeted, wearing an apron as he cooked the two dinners. If Hawks’s meat was too undercooked well who was he to judge?
“Hey Dabs,” Hawks greeted with a yawn, walking over to the kitchen to steal a few bites of food as Dabi swatted at his hand.
“Stop trying to steal bites! It’ll be ready in a few minutes. Go change,” Dabi ordered as Hawks sighed and walked into their bedroom, getting a change of clothes. Finding one of Dabi’s oversized t-shirts he unclipped his binder, a specialty ordered one that was made with his wings involved, put on the t-shirt, and put on a pair of sweat pants.
When Dabi first started staying here he never wanted to take his binder off, scared that his body would scare the scared man away, but Dabi just loved him more. Telling him how manly he was, how handsome he was. Never calling him things like cute and pretty. It made Hawks preen for the attention.
Now after living together for over a year, he’s gotten comfortable being without his binder. Dabi never pointed out how he looked without still calling him handsome. The first time it happened Hawks cried tears of joy. No one ever treated him the way Dabi did. All he ever had was the commission who only let him have the binder because they thought that the public would be more accepting of a male hero than a female one. It made him want to throw up.
Rumi didn’t even know what he was going through every day. Just assumed that he was born a male at birth and while it brought a smile to his face sometimes he wanted to yell at her to not be happy. That he’s feeling like shit because of the actual real weight on his chest.
Dabi, he never had to think about it. If he was feeling like shit he could just tell him why and Dabi understood. It made him happy. It ruined his position within the league. He tried, but he couldn’t work fully for the commission, not after he realized how wrong they all are about what a hero is.
“Are you doing okay?” Dabi asked, setting the plate of food down on the coffee table as he sat down on the couch, looking towards Hawks.
“Yeah. My body just feels weird. Nothing really out of the ordinary for me,” Hawks shrugged as Dabi frowned at him.
“You’re allowed to be sad or upset about it you know?” Dabi asked, taking a bite of his food.
“Yeah I know, but it just seems pointless sometimes. I know that it won’t change anything so I can either push it to the back of my mind or feel sorry for myself,” Hawks shrugged, taking a bite of the food, as Dabi glared at him.
“Just be upset for once okay?” Dabi asked.
“Yeah, when I have the time,” Hawks promised.
The two quickly finished eating before heading to bed, Dabi holding Hawks in his arms, as he told Hawks how wonderful and perfect he was. If it brought a few tears to his eyes and made him sleep a little bit better well who was he to complain.
The next morning Hawks awoke first. He still smiled every time he woke up to see Dabi still laying in the bed, meaning he stayed. It was so much better than when they first got together, Dabi never staying the full night. Always waiting till Hawks fell asleep before leaving.
Feeling sleepy still, he yawned as he walked to the bathroom, bringing his clothes with him to get ready for his day at work.
Taking off his shirt he looked in the mirror only to blink a few times before putting his hand on his chest. His chest was extremely flat. Now being more awake he moved his boxers and looked inside before looking in the mirror again.
Suddenly a full-blown smile was on his face as he ran towards the bedroom screaming in happiness.
“Dabi! Dabi wake up!” Hawks yelled running into the room as the fire user rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
“It’s too early in the morning for this bird boy,” Dabi groaned.
Hawks, in his excitement, ignored the fire user's complaints as he grabbed his hand and put it to his chest.
“That’s nice birdie,” Dabi said, slipping back into the land of sleep.
Hawks rolled his eyes before an evil gleam formed its way into his eye. Placing Dabi’s hand in his pants the man's eyes went wide and awake.
“You have a-” Dabi said, yanking his hand away, fully awake now.
“Yep,” Hawks smiled, shaking his head up and down.
“You’re a-” Dabi asked as Hawks once again shook his head yes.
“Hawks- Keigo! This is amazing! How did this happen?” Dabi asked, an actual smile on his face.
“I don’t know! I got hit with a quirk yesterday but I was warned that it wouldn’t really do anything bad,” Hawks smiled.
“Wait does this mean it’s not permanent?” Dabi asked, a sad smile forming on both of their faces.
“Nope, I was told about the quirk beforehand. It was done by a child, it was an accident and all. It’s called wish maker. It causes someone's wish to be fulfilled. Since wishes are often things that can’t be undone they are permanent unless asked specifically to be limited,” Hawks explained.
“Well, Birdie this causes for celebration. How about me and you have a day in?” Dabi asked, a smile on his face.
“We can do anything?” Hawks asked, a smile on his face.
“Anything and everything,” Dabi agreed as Hawks smiled, kissing the scared man in a body that finally felt right. In a body that was finally his. A body that made him the happiest man alive, because a man is what he is and always has been.
