You groan in pain as you try and stretch your leg out, the bandages wrapped around where the shrapnel got stuck in your thigh are already starting to itch. You go to reach to at least pat the area but your wrist is caught before you can, a frown on Lucas face as he sits beside you.

“I’m sorry.” He mutters, eyes ducked away from you and shoulders hunched in as though you’d be mad at him. It makes your heart hurt, none of this was his fault, you both had hoped Marcos was going to sign the deal and accept the help. Nobody could’ve predicted him setting you two up.

“It’s not your fault Dom.” His head lifts to turn his glossy eyes towards you. He looks so defeated, if you two weren’t still on the clock you would’ve thrown yourself into his chest by now. He’s always been on the touchy side, it makes him happy, comforts him, you wish you could give him that now. Instead you settle on take his hand with a firm squeeze.

“I should’ve protected you, covered you and— .” You cut him off swiftly and shake your head. He gets protective and that’ll never change, but god you don’t need him blaming himself for this mess.

“And I’m fine, a little cut on my leg isn’t going to kill me.” It’s more than a ‘little cut’ and Hicks will no doubt put you on desk duty for the next two weeks till your stitches heal, but Luca doesn’t need to hear that right now.

“Still. I had so much faith in Marcos and maybe it made me a little blind, maybe I should’ve seen—.” You stop him again.

“Stop blaming yourself. You always have trust in people, see the best in them, I could never be mad at you for that. It’s one of the reasons I love you, I’d never want it to change.” Dominique grips your hand tighter as you let your head fall to his shoulder with a sigh, allowing yourself to indulge in the peace of the moment you’re sure will be burst any second now. You’ll savor it as long as you can.

“Luca? Hey I know I’m early but I-.” Victor stops in his tracks at Lucas position on the couch. He’s curled up with a blanket, a Disney movie playing lowly on the Tv, a sleepy look on Doms face but what throws Tan the most is the pacifier hanging out of Lucas mouth. To Tans knowledge, there’s zero reason for Luca to even own such an item.

“Hey bud, you just getting up?” Tan approach’s slowly, judging if Lucas about to go running for the hills but all he gets is a small nod from the blonde.

“Yeah? Hope I didn’t wake you pulling in.” Luca shifts up on the couch to rub at his eyes clumsily as he shakes his head to Tan.

“I know Street isn’t home but I was hoping we could hang out for a bit.” Instead of a response Luca shuffles over to Tan, dropping his head onto Victors shoulder and causing Tan to bite his tongue to not awe out loud. Luca nuzzles more into the touch and Tan quickly situates an arm around his shoulders. He can question things later.

“That means nothing and friends can go on hikes.” Luca huffs with a sip of his beer and you make the decision to avoid his eyes for right now. You’re just about ready to walk away from this whole situation but know you can’t, not without raising questions.

“You never wear those tank tops on our hikes.” They are really tight and have Lucas frame looking extra good and- you need to stop. You can’t be all dreamy about your teammate right now.

“And I’ve never heard you call any of us angel.” There’s a smirk on Streets face but you quickly chug down some of your drink, hoping and praying it covers your blush, that nickname started as a joke but quickly had butterflies in your stomach. Luca also uses it before he hands up every night.

“Angel? Wow Luca, sweet talk and we don’t even know their name.” Tan shakes his head grinning widely to Chris who’s rolling her eyes next to you.

“Actually I’m pretty sure that’s a common nickname, I’ve heard someone call y/n that.” You send a quick death glare to Deacon who’s blissfully oblivious to this situation.

“Who calls you an-.” Streets mouth drops open as the biggest smile you’ve ever seen splits against his face, you swear his dimples have grown double in size.

“Holy shit! Ha! Lucas all blushed about y/n! Pfft!” You’d like this couch to swallow you whole as Street all but doubles over in laughter.

“Wait- wait, you and Luca?” Now Chris is starting to laugh as you flush bright red and hide your face in your hands.
