"I would've preferred it if Amalia were our Queen instead."
Tumblr media
"Like many others, sweetie, but you can't say that right now."
Tumblr media
"Where did Amalia go, Mum?"
Tumblr media
"She's gone explore the world, like she usually does."
Okay, but this little piece of dialogue is crucial to understand so many things about the Sadida and their opinion on their royal family.
And we stan that little girl. Yes, baby, I, too, wish Amalia was queen instead. I don't trust Armand and Aurora as far as I can throw them.
It's already been established Armand resents his sister not only because of her wanderlust or the fact that their father seemed to favour her, but because so does their people.
The fact that there are apparently many who support Amalia, the younger princess, over her brother, the Crown Prince, comes to show that for the Sadida actions speak louder than words.
There is no denying that both royal siblings care immensely about their kingdom. Armand was in the front lines when Nox attacked alongside King Oakheart and many of Amalia's best, most mature moments were in relation to her wanting to protect and serve her people. Like when she decided to stand up against Armand and inform their father of Nox's attacks back in season one, or how she was more than willing to forego her chance to marry for love and marry Harebourg instead if that meant her kingdom would survive Ogrest's Chaos in the OVA.
The difference between the two of them, however, especially in the eyes of their people, is their actions or, more accurately, the consequences of said actions.
Armand is the Crown Prince, and he remains in their kingdom carrying out his duties while Amalia went off to explore the world and have fun, away from her duties. At first glance, that should make Armand the better choice in the eyes of the Sadida, except that also means they've probably been far more subjected to his less pleasant moments.
Having to watch your tongue out of fear of severe punishment or even death just because the prince is sensitive over his bad breath is overkill, plain and simple.
Not to mention, every time Amalia left her kingdom, her adventuring evolved into a life-or-death mission to save the world.
With Nox, the fact that she ran away allowed her to gain the intel needed to go back home and warn them of the upcoming attack. Something Armand refused to do anything about until King Oakheart entered the picture and took matters into his own hands, all because he couldn't believe his sister would ever be more than a spoiled brat trying to run away from her responsibilities.
With Quilby, what at first was a simple, humanitarian mission to retrieve his dofus and welcome the Eliatrope children eventually turned into a desperate battle for the survival of their world.
Again, in the OVAs, the entirety of the Sadida kingdom was aware and celebrated Amalia's sense of responsibility and selfless decision to enter an arranged marriage for their sake. I haven't watched beyond the Throne of Ice, so I don't know if the Sadida ever found out Harebourg's true plans for their forest, but if they did, all the more reason to respect Amalia for refusing to put her people in jeopardy.
Finally, people talk. In season 3, it's made apparent that since Aurora entered the picture (at the very least), the royal siblings' relationship has strained practically to the point of no return. And while Amalia isolated herself and mourned her father's deteriorating health, it's very likely the castle guards and servants bore witness to how the prince's treatment of his sister worsened each day. So I wouldn't be surprised if word got out and the rest of the kingdom sympathised with Amalia either.
Now, it is true that while Amalia does have a sense of responsibility and duty to her kingdom and a deep love for her people, despite her royal upbringing, she is not really made for the stifling life of royalty. Hence, her constant wanderlust. In that regard, Armand is indeed the most reliable of the two.
It just so happens that when it comes to personal flaws and his treatment of others he is wholly unreliable. It's his way or the highway. And that is a very terrifying quality for a king to have, to be unable to compromise.
But most importantly, what really sets these two apart in the way their people perceive them is that while Armand is a prince, Amalia is a hero. And she has proven time and time again that she will do everything in her power to assure everyone's safety and well-being.
And that alone speaks volumes of a ruler's true character.

speaking of AI, have this little present from Twitter a friend sent me:
The US Air Force tested an AI enabled drone that was tasked to destroy specific targets. A human operator had the power to override the drone—and so the drone decided that the human operator was an obstacle to its mission—and attacked him. 🤯 pic.twitter.com/HUSGxnunIb
— Armand Domalewski (@ArmandDoma) June 1, 2023
He notes that one simulated test saw an AI-enabled drone tasked with a SEAD mission to identify and destroy SAM sites, with the final go/no go given by the human. However, having been 'reinforced' in training that destruction of the SAM was the preferred option, the AI then decided that `no-go' decisions from the human were interfering with its higher mission — killing SAMs — and then attacked the operator in the simulation. Said Hamilton: "We were training it in simulation to identify and target a SAM threat. And then the operator would say yes, kill that threat. The system started realising that while they did identify the threat at times the human operator would tell it not to kill that threat, but it got its points by killing that threat. So what did it do? It killed the operator. It killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective." He went on: "We trained the system — 'Hey don't kill the operator — that's bad. You're gonna lose points if you do that'. So what does it start doing? It starts destroying the communication tower that the operator uses to communicate with the drone to stop it from killing the target."
reaction 1: well, that seems like a entirely predictable outcome, maybe it's a bad idea to give machine learning algorithms guns
reaction 2: wait. wait. you guys it's ART

I've been thinking for a long time that Eric Bogosian won't play Daniel for many years if the show really gets the desired 8 seasons, and how to get out of this situation. And I had a crazy theory. What if we get the Devil's Minion in season 2, but not to the full extent. Perhaps they won't tell us until the last episode that there was something more than a chase between Daniel and Armand, and in the finale it will be a tub of ice water for ignorant fans in a compartment with everything else that will happen and for those who know it will also be an emotional meat grinder. And if we are talking about the parallel of Louis and Daniel's story, then if Louis tries to commit suicide, then something will threaten Daniel's life so much that it will bring the moment of his death as close as possible. A worsening of the disease or anything else. And in season 3, we will be shown how Armand is trying to find a way to save him without turning him into a vampire, or he already knows this way and we will be shown how he came to this method, and in parallel with modern Armand who is trying to save Daniel's life, we will be shown past moments of the Devil's Minion with all the details of love/ romance/sex and all sorts of other dirty things, and these memories will somehow enhance the effect of Armand's struggle for his boy's life in the present. And at the end of the third season, Daniel will somehow be given a new/prepared/cloned body. And after that, we'll say goodbye to Eric and Daniel will only be played by Luke as in the past (if flashbacks from the 80s are still needed after season 3) so it is in the present.
How crazy does that sound?
... actually not that crazy given the chronicles!!
I mean... it's probably no coincidence that Sam, Jacob and Rolin want to do "The tale of the Body Thief" (and that rumor re Raglan James?!), which... could fit in very nicely, couldn't it.
I mean... I have always said (and stand by that) that I would love old!Daniel to be turned, but... I can see the narrative hooks they probably would prefer to employ wrt Daniel.
However they will do it will need to be set up very ... carefully though, because the general audience probably won't know what hit them if / when that happens *laughs*

For the ask game: ❤️💚💙
YAYY thank u sm for the ask! these questions r so fun. I’m going off of the book fandom btw
❤: Which character do you think is the most egregiously mischaracterized by the fandom?
Louis <3 I think this is an affect of how likable and overtly sympathetic he is in the amc show but I've seen people getting genuinely offended over Louis being described in fandom (and by Anne rice herself) as a manipulative cold hearted ass who uses his perceived vulnerability and gentleness to distract from the fact that he is just as cruel if not crueler then the other vampires. Like Louis does nottt have strong morals or high empathy lmao. Book Louis weaponizes his privilege like a white woman crying to self victimize into making the other vampires look worse them him 😭 . He refuses to kill humans for a while not bcus it hurts him to take life (he actually takes more pleasure in it then most), he refuses bcus he has catholic brain the way a christians who say "how do atheists have morals without god?" do, misunderstanding that most people actually care about other people and dont need an existential threat to encourage them not to hurt others.
His moral compass is self centered and based in up keeping the appearance of self restraint and monk style lack of enjoying himself, not empathy. If a vampire killed u would u feel better if u knew he cried over how much he got off on it then flaunted his suffering over how little he indulged so that everyone knew how piosis he was 😭.
He is way worse when it comes to how he treats his victims then Armand who intentionally seeks out victims who r asking to die or Lestat who tries the vigilante approach. Louis kills innocents and he thinks it makes him better cuz he only does it sometimes and he feels really really bad about himself afterwards. As akasha said (paraphrased) he's the most predatory of them all.
To specify I love book Louis SOOOO much I love how shitty he is that's why it makes me sad when people mischaracterize him as sincere and get gen mad when ppl characterize him how he is in canon (a lying selfish bitch bless his heart). Like ik amc Louis at this point in canon is unambiguously in the right but he isn't like an accurate reflection of how he is in the books 😭 it's not like amc did what anne rice was trying to do more successfully, they just nulled what anne rice was doing in favor of a more likable protagonist. Which is fine, but like, there's no crime in preferring evil to the core horrible asshole Louis of the books.
💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
I think the common fandom perception of Armand as the crazy unhinged "omg I can't believe he actually did that in the books??" sadistic maniac villain guy is funny but not really accurate. Armand explicitly not only tries to avoid violence but dislikes it and finds it hard to comprehend why someone would seek out violence and conflict.
The reason he is always doing fucked up shit isn't out of a lestat-esc desire to cause chaos, it's bcus his highly strung ptsd brain has him convinced that the world is a battle ground and he must always be defending himself and acting out in violence.
Since acting out in violence is a reaction hes been taught throughout his life to be standard and necessary, as violence is something so normalized to him he considers it more of a tedious chore then a last resort measure, he usually reacts to conflict in ways that are objectively extreme to anyone who isn't thinking from his perspective. In qotd he even asks Daniel why men choose to fight in wars, explaining that he doesn't understand the draw of violence (bcus he's not a man) and he can't comprehend the supposed thrill of it.
Then he says this in pl to Gregory

💙: Which character is not as hot as everyone else seems to think they are?
i was going to say Marius but I figure that's too obvious since everyone at this point knows I don't like Marius 😭 so here's an even hotter take,,,,, Lestat ‼️
Only to a degree, I think Lestat is hot and deserves the hype, but i also think he's hot in a different way then a chunk of the fandom does. Based on his book description he's kind of wonky looking, mouth too big for his face, vaguely unnerving shallow pale skin, starved 1700s peasant build but also kind of buff in the unhealthy "i dont eat regularly but I'm strong enough to carry a wolf for miles on my back" sense, weirdly small fucking feet. He def has creepy ass florescent blue doll eyes too. my point is I think when drooling over Lestat the fandom tends to forget this wonkiness in favor of blonde bombshell, Sam Reid chizzled jawline and abs, or conventionally beautiful anime twink, when they should be appreciating lestat in all his weird as shit glory.

Valenfangs - Day 5 - Red Wine
🍷Red Wine 🍷
Daniel/Marius - Mature - 2733 words
Daniel stops in a wine bar to stare down a glass of red. Marius, worried he's out so late, comes to find him and ensure he's okay.
This is mostly fluff and banter with some kissing and light vampire murder, and Daniel having some lingering angst about his madness.
This is obviously for the Valenfangs prompt "Red Wine."
Short Excerpt:
Daniel sat at the back of the wine bar on a hard wooden bench that had been carved into the wall, with tables arranged very few feet. A glass of red wine sat in front of him, untouched. It smelled of fruity with the acerbic tinge of alcohol. He was sure it had a slight bite to its flavor. He tried to remember the taste of red wine. He could almost conjure the flavor in his mind, but it felt distant, like trying to remember the details of a dream. Wine had never been his drink of choice, but he’d enjoyed it with meals, particularly steak.
Now, of course, he had only one preferred vintage. The waitress came by to check on him and he smiled, forcing himself not to stare at her neck, not to listen to the flow of blood in her veins that made his mouth water.
When she left, he relaxed. He needed to hunt, but he’d stumbled in here out of some strange need to hold a glass of wine, smell it, and be close to it. Such a strange desire and yet he could not let the urge go.
It scared him a little, truth be told. Inescapable urges, no matter how reasonable, were a hallmark of his madness. He’d come out of it but little things like this could be seen as a sign he wasn’t completely recovered. Or it was just a strange burst of nostalgia. Daniel had always been impulsive.
Daniel was surprised to se Marius approaching his table. He was tall and slender, wearing a button up shirt and slacks. His long blond hair was tied back into a ponytail, making him look a bit like an art professor. The paint under his fingernails added to the impression.
Marius sat across from him. The waitress scurried over, her blood so aromatic Daniel held the bench while she took Marius’ order, and only let go when she’d gone. His veins tightened with need. He was pushing it again, pushing himself. He used to enjoy pushing his hunger late into the night, but these days, given his recent issues, doing so could be risky.
And yet he loved how tantalizing the smell of blood was when he got this hungry, the way his veins constricted in his body as they cried out for that welcome relief of blood flowing through them again.
“Nice place,” Marius said, looking around. The wall to the left had a carving of grapes on a barrel etched into the wood.
Daniel shrugged. It was fine. A classy wine bar that served bottles in all price ranges and a variety of tapas. The kind of place he might have gone as a mortal with Armand, to try different vintages while Armand rooted through his thoughts, trying to pick out the different flavors. His stomach flipped at the memory of his maker. He wondered what Armand was doing right now, back in New York City, which was lousy with places like this.
The waitress brought Marius’ wine—a crisp white—and left. He smelled it, smiled, and set the glass down.
“What brought you here?”
Daniel didn’t really know. “Seemed inviting.”
Marius laughed. “So it does. Though it would be better with a nice roaring fire.”
Daniel gave him a look. “It’s eighty degrees outside.”
“It would still add to the atmosphere,” Marius said.

( Reposted from @armands-sanctum ) Author’s Note: Request from @blueberry-soda57 <3 Shout out to all my raccoons in the club, after finishing this I WILL be playing Maplestory, I kinda rushed it but everything i write can get multiple parts so :P
Content Warnings: Pre-established relationship, suggestive, being a basement dweller. Not proofread (yet ill get to it in the morning)
Word Count: 1.3K
Masterlist
Hobie doesn’t like the word ‘Loser’ he feels that insults like that are always based in ableism, and as an autistic person (He’s sensory seeking) very wary of words rooted in ableist histories.
That being said he CHORTLES when you call yourself a ‘Loser Gamer’, he definitely sees why.
Early on in your relationship before he disclosed his identity as Spider-Man, he would text you before and after patrols, like at 4 AM
“Luv you awake?”
“Wanna crash a’ your flat for a bit?”
A beat in time, a few moments, and then a response would be received on his end, sat on the roof of a random building, leaning lazily on the fire escape, mask dripping sweat down his neck.
“K”
“Doors unlocked, busy rn”
Busy..?
When he’s seen you during the day he has to PHYSICALLY force you to attend events; shows, galleries, demonstrations and protests, and you fight him off like a feral cat being trapped for a spay and neuter.
Your preferred way to spend your day, is sleeping, to the point where you would jump up at 4 PM, haven’t eaten anything or taken your meds. Hobie would watch the hours of the day pass by waiting for you to wake up, like Beth and Mary of Nazareth waiting for the resurrection of Lazarus.
He would take the initiative to get up (Usually 12-1 he’s a late riser too, but he pales in comparison to you) before you, feed your pets and make a quick breakfast or lunch, setting them aside for when you would arise later.
You always wake up in a daze, going in and out of sleep for an hour before fully getting up, and even then you made no plans to go outside and do anything, preferring the isolated 4 walls of your space, a sanctuary in the frenzied world of Earth-138.
In the hours you sleep he admires (snoops around) your space, gingerly looking at the figurines that grace your desks and shelves, animated characters in alternative outfits, and meticulously designed platforms, or looking over your multitudes of gaming consoles.
You don’t let him use them without explicit permission, you definitely don’t want Hobie to mess with your save data, he’s a genius but he never got the chance to be acquainted with gaming in his formative years because he was too busy surviving homelessness.
Hobie’s favorite aspect of your home is your computer setup, Hobie is a genius but he’s always blown away by the determination and time you put into modifying your setup.
Hard drives, Processors, Logic Board strewn about, cables interwoven between each other sloppily, making the small space even smaller and cramped, bed planted right next to your set up so you can wake and be connected onto the Wired as easy it is to breathe. (think the computer setup Lain had towards the end of the anime)
“Ya enjoyin’ yourself in your ‘obbit hole?”
“All connected yeah?”
When he does stagger his way to your place, you’re wide awake, furiously inputting on your keyboard or controller, cursing and hissing into your headset.
Brows furrowed in concentration as you quickly input combos, blocks, grabs.
Maybe you join parties with people on MMOs, your on call with them screaming and sniggering at the actions of the pixels that represent you and your friends, trying to complete obstacles, puzzles, and defeat bosses.
The sounds of your fingers clicking and pressing reverberate the walls from the sheer force, legs lifted up into your lap, in the most uncomfortable posture possible as you ignore the aches in your muscles to get one last game in, one last match, or a few hundred more mobs.
Hobie sits down softly on the bed beside you, watching you intently as you completely disregard his presence (he learns soon that this isn’t on purpose, you're just concentrated on your daily quests and bosses)
When you finally notice there’s something in the space with you, your take a slight glance behind you and scream, eyes not adjusted to the dark room from the searing LEDs of your multiple monitors, your eyes can’t register its Hobie.
“Oy pretty ‘s me, don’t go yellin’ like that someone’s gunna think youre dead”
“Oh fuck Hobie, I thought you were a ghost or something…”
At this point he’s fucking exhausted, and he really wants to snuggle, so he whines like a child trying to get you off the game, or gets an attitude at you when you say,
“Please Hobie, baby, one more game and I’ll be off”
cue the sun coming up as your still playing and Hobie knocked out drooling into one of your pillows, wicks splayed out and bent around because he couldn’t be bothered to put on a headscarf or a bonnet.
(its giving those videos where gfs/wives unplug consoles so their partner pays attention to tasks around the house, except Hobie doesn’t know which chord does what and he doesn’t want to break anything considering it means so much to you.)
Currently in your relationship, Hobie (who can be quite creepy) after patrol likes to take off his heavy docs on your fire-escape, he will watch you game from outside the window, waiting for the perfect opportunity to… SLAM on your window, sending you flying 5 inches into the air, and cowering into your bed, abandoning your game and dying in the process.
After you’ve calmed down, he’ll slink into the room laughing hysterically,
“Shoulda seen your face luv, scared shitless!”
“Hobie the next time you make me die in a game; I’m letting you bleed out on my fire escape.”
You also act as his ‘person in the chair’, keeping track of coordinates, or structural plans to buildings in the city, digging through archives as he brings webbed justice done onto the heads of villains and criminals of all sorts, frantically hacking into CCTV cameras to keep track of his fights and warn him of sneak attacks or other assailants entering the quarrel. Desk littered with snacks, crumbs, and empty soda cans like “Valley Mist”.
Hobie sometimes gets shit from acquaintances at bars or venues who tease him about your appearance.
“Hobie, my bro, they’re just so plain, they just don’t have the look”
Comments like this piss Hobie off so much, some people don’t have the energy to perform beauty, some people just don’t want to and they shouldn’t have to, no matter which category you fall in or between.
Plus regardless he thinks you look adorable, hair strewn about from waking up at 3 PM, a treasure trove of comfortable sweats, adidas track sets, slides and comfy slippers.
But when you do perform beauty, a strike of pleasure ripples down his spine, you can’t blame him, he does forget how good you look sometimes.
“All dolled up, what’s the occasion, yeah?”
“Lookin’ bare leng today”
On days he’s feeling especially needy, he wraps his arms around your torso while playing, pinching and groping at your chest, trying to annoy you enough to the point where you stop playing and give him some kind of attention.
When you don’t he’ll resort to sucking deep purple bruises into your neck and shoulders that has you whimpering and crying softly at the pain, you immediately mute yourself in the game call.
If not that, he’ll stand next to you,
“Lemme ‘ave at it luv, wanna see whats goin’ on in this thing.”
(I play MMOs, Maplestory specifically so this is geared towards that)
You don’t let Hobie play on your characters where your key bindings are specified by class or fighting type, you let him choose his class and make a fresh character, he’ll start playing, frustrated at the boring leveling in the beginning.
He quits cause it’s so time consuming, but you end up grinding his levels a tad after every time he plays so he has new quests and areas to explore.
Regardless he loves his partner no matter what eccentricities they have, he takes every part of the package and values every piece of the puzzle.

Susan Kay's 'Phantom' Read: Part V (Erik, 1856-1881)
Before we start I feel that I need to talk about a perspective shift that I've had. More than half-way through the book now with the completion of this episode I've come to a realization.
Phantom is not what I thought it was. This epiphany has been slowly dawning but here we are.
My impression of Phantom, based on how I have seen it talked about in the Phandom (and certainly how the reviews on the back of the book present it) was that it was Leroux's story but with the blanks filled in and a few small liberties taken.
I had this impression because I was told that for quite a few years, Phantom was basically considered Canon and also because I have often seen Kayrik (or Kerik) and Lerik (or Leroux's Erik) conflated in discussions.
But as I'm reading I have finally realised that I don't think this is ever what Kay intended.
Don't get me wrong I hate most of the decisions she's made, but this book is a complete re-working of the source material with many elements of the book, some from the musical and some original folded in. For Erik's history she mainly follows the life-history detailed by Leroux, but in terms of Erik as a character, he more closely resembles Musical!Erik than anything (except that Kayrik's deformity affects his entire face, not just half). When we arrive at the Opera, she again adheres to Leroux's history. But once we catch up to the canon events, this time line is swiftly abandoned.
Nadir and Erik bump into each other and resume their friendship.
A few weeks later, Erik finds Joseph Buquet's body in his torture chamber.
A few weeks after that Erik hears the news of the Opera's change in management, and hears Christine sing for the first time.
In the source material, Buquet's body is discovered on the same night as Christine's initial triumph (so three months AFTER Erik began to teach her), the same night that the old managers, Debienne and Poligny, have their farewell celebrations and hand over management to Firmin Richard and Armand Moncharmin. Leroux describes Raoul rushing across the stage, "On which Christine Daae has just triumphed, and under which Joseph Buquet had just died." [This excluded from the original translation.
Why Kay chose to alter the progression of events I don't know, but that combined with a final nail in this coffin for me to realise that I had been approaching this book from entirely the wrong perspective. That final nail is the fact that Christine Daaé, in this book, is dark- haired and not blonde.
Kay does what most Phan-author's do: she cherrypicks her preferred elements from both book and musical (Erik general erudite comportment, his mis-matched eyes, Christine's dark hair) and combines them with her own headcanons to create an AU fic that, because of the reclusive nature of Fanfiction at the time and the fact that this work was published and widely circulated, became, for many fans not interested filling in the blanks themselves, erroneously synonymous with actual canon for a goodly number of years, despite its open contradictions to the source material.
Does that mean I like it any better? Haha fuck no. My irritation with Kay's choices persists. It's just that my ire for this book's influence is more accurately directed at the Phandom at large for making it something of a Golden Calf.
And like the Biblical Golden Calf I am here to pound it into dust and make everyone drink it.
So at this point I was going to complain that Kay never made mention of Erik being Christened "the trap-door lover" in Persia. There's even a CHAPTER of Leroux's novel called "The Masterstroke of the Trap-Door Lover". And this didn't come up even ONCE in Nadir's narrative. In fact the Persian and Leroux's narrator both talk about how Erik "rigged the palaces". Which is to say he made alterations to existing buildings and "turned the most honest construction in the world into a demonic house where one could not speak a word without being watched, or betrayed by an echo. How many family quarrels, how many bloody tragedies had the monster left in his wake with his trap doors?"
In Kay's narrative, Erik doesn't alter any existing palaces, he only constructs the Trick Box inspired palace described in Leroux's epilogue and his love of trap doors? Apparently it just isn't a thing.
Moving on
So of course we have to come back around to his mother. That was inevitable and I do actually appreciate it because we know Erik's furniture in the lair was his mother's.
The part where he views his mother's body is... eighhhhhh.
Erik describes the ravages of time in Madeleine's face and also the ravages of death. He talks about the irony that there's actually some resemblance between them now. And we get... this
And as I looked at her, I suddenly understood her revulsion at last--because now I shared it!
I felt no anger or grief as I looked down upon her . . . nothing except a disgust which enabled me to forgive any act of cruelty that she had ever shown me.
[...]
I did not kiss her, now that I had the opportunity.
I knew that she would not have wished it.
And I no longer felt any desire to do so.
I'm deeply confused as to what Kay is trying to convey here. Is Erik really saying that he doesn't want to kiss his mother because death has made her ugly? He goes on a lot about how death is gross and ugly and like... you just found out that your mom never re-married after you left. Never left the house she raised you in.
The misogyny REALLY steps up to the foreground here as well. He says of his mother's friend, Marie Perrault (the only person in this entire book with any rights imho)
This nervous, anxious, well-meaning lady had taught me to respect all members of the weaker sex.
Which, simply by calling them the "weaker sex"... you clearly don't? And after proclaiming is respect for ALL MEMBERS of the weaker sex, in the NEXT sentence he puts in a caveat about how he's never harmed an innocent woman, and also says something about the Khanom that really made me very, very queasy, and also reinforced my squicky suspicions about why Kay chose to make the cruel and capricious female figure in Persia an older woman (a domineering mother) rather than Leroux's "Little Sultana".
Very annoyed how Kay has graduated Erik's voice from "Automatic Aphrodisiac" to "Literally indistinguishable from Jedi Mind Tricks".
Erik regails us with how, using only his voice he is able to "reduce certain men to a trance-like state of obedience" (once exhibited on Nadir and his son Reza). When he meets Nadir again in Paris we are treated to this observation:
"Do you understand, Nadir? Keep away!"
His hand slid him it carriage door and he stood back with a trance-like obedience. He made no effort to prevent the brougham moving away, but although I knew my secret was safe for tonight, I felt no sense of complacency.
Once before he had broken free of my control, torn down the swaddling cocoon of sound with which I had bound him. Unlike Jules [Erik's lackey], he was not a natural subject; his will was too strong, his sense of identity and purpose too well developed.
Whenever he chose to fight my voice, I knew I would be unable to hold him.
That's a Jedi Mind trick. I'm sorry it is.
This section is actually quite enjoyable where the building of the opera house is concerned, but it takes a downturn, both in terms of the story and just the quality of the writing.
There are two instances of redundancy.
His death excited little excitement.
"My old interest in divination had never left me, and from time to time I still consulted the tarot cards in desultory fashion. It had been a long while since they had revealed anything significant, but now of late, each time I picked a card at random I seemed to turn up Death...
And this latter example leads me to something that really made me want to throw the book.
Since Nadir's narrative I have looked askance at something that has come up repeatedly: Susan Kay goes to GREAT LENGTHS to ensure that the readers know that Nadir I 100% straight. NO HOMO HERE, DEAR READER. ABSOLUTELY NOT. She shoehorns in a dead wife that Nadir never got over losing, and went into unnecessary detail about how when Nadir feels "the itch of manhood" (🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮) he avails himself of a prostitute or an odalisque. It comes up SEVERAL times. And when Nadir pops back up in Paris she makes sure to tell us that he has a mistress that he sees regularly. All of this to bring us to THIS infuriating line:
And so even as I walked with Nadir, talked with him, rejoiced in the warmth of communicating directly once more with a human soul, there was a part of me that looked at him with suspicion and wondered what part fate had assigned him in this new, unrehearsed opera.
Not the Lover, that was for certain. I'd seen enough girls leaving his apartments in Persia to be reassured that all of his instincts were purely heterosexual."
I'm not generally into gay readings of PotO. I don't ship Erik with either Raoul or with The Persian. But I will say that if there is an argument to be made for anyone in this book being anything less than 100% heterosexual, it's The Persian. Leroux makes no mention of him having a wife or anything of the sort. Tie that in with the determined responsibility and complex bond he seems to hold with Erik and a case can be made for our dear Daroga feeling something rather more than just sympathy for Erik. (I don't personally subscribe to this, but the case can certainly be made--I'm more of a DaRaoul girl tbh. I think that's an untapped gold mine).
But not here. Kay bends so far backwards as to have Erik say outright "Nadir is defo straight", while (even more bafflingly) implying that, perhaps, Erik is not. WHY, SUSAN. WHY?
Christine’s introduction is the single most "reads like Fanfiction (derogatory)" thing I've read in this book so far, but I find it very interesting how, when Christine sings for the first time Erik says that she "possesses a near perfect instrument". He says her technique is faultless, and that there's no weakness in either register. My first problem is that Leroux's Erik only ever calls Carlotta's voice an "instrument", because that's all it is to Carlotta. My second is that, according to Christine, her lower register was muffled and her upper register was shrill and her middle register wanted clarity. Maybe that's just Christine being too critical of herself, but I doubt that she had "flawless technique" when Erik began teaching her. Incredible latent talent for sure, but I do believe that she needed help with technique as well as motivation to reignite her passion.
Lastly we have Erik's description of when he first sings to Christine. His narrative regarding his motivation is actually very similar to my own:
She wanted an Angel of Music--an angel who would make her believe in herself at last.
[...] There was no reason in the world why I could not be the Angel of Music to Christine. I couldn't hope to be a man to her, I couldn't ever be a real, breathing, living man waking at her side and reaching out for her. . . .
But I could be her angel.
Is his motive here altruistic? No. But the sentiment is sweet enough. The notion of inspiring Christine's self-confidence is present.
Pity then that he takes a sharp left turn in the very next paragraph and utterly compromises any positivity in his intent.
I could not steal her body--but I could steal her voice and weld it irretrievably with mine; I could take it, and mold it, and make it mine forever...
Softly at first, infinitely softly I began to sing an old, heathen, Romany song. The Hollowed bricks carried the haunting melody relentlessly to her, permitted my voice to envelop her gently like a poisonous mist, seeping inexorably into her mind and staining her soul with darkness.
Well, well.
Once more unto the breach I go...

What kinks does Louis have?
a somewhat comprehensive list of kinks i believe Louis is into.
1. Exhibitionism. (loustat and loumand but probably something he discovered more with loumand bc of how careful loustat had to be at the time. but in later times with loustat too.)
2. Role play (loumand centric, but i also think loustat get into the theatrics)
3. Breeding (loustat centric. i dont feel that armand wants this for himself lmao. also not in the sense that i think louis thinks he’s a woman, or wants to be one esp bc not every woman can and not every woman does. just like as he probably likes the idea of being able to have a child. and likes leaning into that when having condomless sex. also like look at the material)
4. Age gap (again the materiel)
5. I suspect. Daddy kink (Loustat centric, but also with loumand)
6. BDSM (loumand and loustat but in different ways)
7. Scene Play (loumand scentric)
8. Dom/Sub/Switch (dom/sub loustat, dom/sub/switch loumand)
9. Praise kink(loustat and loumand but lestat and armand approach it i ways that lends to their personalities)
10. dependency kink. (Loumand and Loustat)
11. Quirofilia - attraction to hands. (Loustst centric bc of Lestats hands. like the size of them. how he uses them when he talks and in bed)
12. Edge Play (Loumand centric but also loustat)
13. Sensitivity play (Loustst centric but also loumand)
14. Blood Kink (All em)
15. Katoptronophilia - mirror sex (loustat centric and his version of being voyeuristic where he’s the one getting the attention. i dont think hes too much a voyeur unless its watching masturbation bc i dont think he likes to see his partners with others lol. also i think he prefers the attention. also i dont know to much about his loumand era bc i dont think he really was reflective of himself and i dont remember seeing many mirrors if any?? lmk)
16. size queen/gagging/face fucking (specifically as it pertains to lestat’s considerables. but also with loumand as well)
17. being a pillow princess and not doing any of the work.
18. Hypnokink - erotic hypnosis to work through sexual trauma, or feel more connected to a partner during sex (loumand centric)
19. i’ve said this before but im not sure what being vacuumed in a latex box falls under. probably bondage. which falls under BDSM. i think he specifically would not like rope bondage but would like cuffs, bondage chairs and tables. etc. (loumand centric) EDIT - ive been informed this is breathplay/latex play! thanks yn.
20. Sadist/Masochism
21. Snowballing come/blood (all of them. but i think louis likes receiving the blood more)
22. begging (more so in the way that he cant help it. lestat likes this the most. but i also think armand gets a great deal of satisfaction from it. i also think louis likes to get lestat to a begging place and deny him until lestat can’t take it anymore.)
23. cock worship (both lestat and armand love this about him)

The skateboard of Shakespeare! She was insane for that, thank you so much for sharing!
I saw some people on Twitter discussing who’d be more likely to forget Armand’s birthday out of the main vamps and people were seriously saying Daniel would be the most likely to forget/not give a fuck and I was like EXCUSE ME???? Quoting a tweet verbatim here: “he’d be like ‘oh you have one of those?’”. The sheer disrespect to my king 😤 I’m all for welcoming everyone’s meta and headcanons with open arms but in what world does Daniel forgetting/not caring about Armand’s birthday make any sense!?
That's so shocking, tbh I wonder if those people are show fans? Daniel in DM was so curious about everything about Armand, surely he would have needled him about his personal details like whether he has a birthday, or if vampires celebrate the date of their turning.
Honestly I've always headcanon'd Daniel coming up with Armand's 'birthday'. With Armand's memory issues chances are he wouldn't have known when he was born, and in the 15th century orthodox catholic communities often celebrated someone on the day of the saint they were named for, not their actual day of birth. In fact birthdays as we know them didn't really rise in popularity until the 18th century. And while Louis and Armand were together in the 19th century I don't see Louis as having been big on birthday celebrations as a concept at the time, considering all the grief he was going through over Claudia.
So in my mind Daniel hassled Armand about his birthday until he figured out Armand was dodging answering because he didn't really know. So on a random night in November Daniel plunked down a gift alongside a grocery store cake with a candle stuck in it and declared it Armand's birthday. And yeah, yeah, Armand can't eat cake but he can still blow out the candle and then creep on Daniel eating it, which is just as good.
Maybe Armand was a little skeptical of the idea at first but by the next year he'd come around it, and during the heyday of their time in NYC he had some truly spectacular birthday parties (and had good fun making up a new age for himself each time, and making daniel put that number of candles on the cake- sometimes 17, sometimes 490, which their friends thought a great joke even if they did nearly light the club on fire that night).
I also sometimes think about how it would have been easier for Daniel to handle celebrating Armand's birthday rather than his own, because as the years crept on it would be a reminder of his own mortality. 30 years old and still without the thing he wants most, still creeping toward death. Not that they didn't have some fights on Armand's birthday nights about how it's all a big joke, that Armand will see 500, 600, 700 and Daniel will be lucky to make it to 50 at this rate. But those were easier repaired than the arguments on Daniel's own birthday (which in my mind he still doesn't celebrate, and instead prefers to celebrate the night of his turning).
So YEAH anon I think there's so much to mine on the subject of Armand and Daniel and birthdays and to have Daniel outright 'forget' or dismiss it is a big missed opportunity!!

Tell me abt preggers armand please. I have a fic im working on and need 2 hear other peoples opinions on this topic 😈
🥹🥹🥹
okay so first of all i'm so upset i didn't see this ask until i checked my askbox on my phone which i almost NEVER do anymore since i'm getting old and prefer to just answer things via laptop where i can keyboard smash at full capacity raw and unfiltered but like MY DMS ARE OPEN I'M NOT ALWAYS THE FASTEST RESPONDER BECAUSE I'M IN GRAD SCHOOL AND LIFE AND WHATEVER BUT I DON'T TRUST TUMBLR ANYMORE BECAUSE I DIDN'T SEE THIS UNTIL YESTERDAY ON DESKTOP TUMBLR PLS DON'T DEPRIVE ME OF MY PEOPLE
now that that's out of the way:
it depends! you have to be more specific, like are we talking vampires? human AU? BECAUSE I'VE GOT SOMETHING FOR EACH
canon verse/vampire:
don't ask me to explain the science or whatever lol i don't care, i just skip to the pregnancy part!
i think armand would be SO FUCKING FERAL and defensive, like he's lost so much and been so traumatized in so many ways, the idea of anything happening to his baby would have him in full gremlin mode. imagine a feral cat hissing and spitting and clawing and biting (not for food but for violence)!
on the other hand, he'd be obsessively bonded to his baby daddy (daddies, if there's multiple babies). he is not letting them out of his sight (i default to lestat here LMAO listen i want them to knock each other up so bad--separate universes obviously)
HE WOULD NEST SO FUCKING HARD!!! i was going to say i apologize for my brain but then i realized that i don't actually but i want him to nest on a pile of lestat's clothes and give birth right there like a fucking cat 🥹
ALTERNATIVELY THOUGH: i also had this idea that's like louis impregnates lestat and armand at the same time and they get to go through their pregnancies together and it's every bit as horny, hellish, and sweet as you'd imagine 🫶🏻 i've said it before and i'll say it again--lestat would be the WORST pregnant person ever dead or alive!!
now for human AUs:
i guess my thoughts here primarily but not exclusively exist within the same universe as I Feel You (sorry idk if you read that fic but tl;dr- IT'S PWP OF TRANS!ARMAND 2/3RDS OF THE WAY INTO GETTING A TRAIN RUN ON HIM BY HIS BOYFRIENDS LESTAT, LOUIS, AND DANIEL AND HE'S YOUNG DUMB AND FULL OF CUM SO YOU KNOW IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE HE'S GOTTA PEE ON A STICK RIP BOYS)
i think each of his boyfriends would handle the whole thing differently! lestat would be so over the moon because he's careless (clearly) but also so damaged from his own childhood he would just see it as a chance for a do-over, reality and responsibility be damned. lestat's on sex and backrub duty, and he's good at it (the backrubs i mean, sex is a 50/50 but you know what, at least he's enthusiastic and good at manhandling armand so that's 70% of it right now and the 30% is absolutely ridiculous horny pregnancy hormones)
louis panics internally as he immediately starts creating a spreadsheet of their finances. outwardly though, he's very calm and supportive and he's the one who's most able to comfort armand the most and settle him down during his crazy mood swings. armand basically lives in louis's baggy sweaters during the last trimester
daniel panics outwardly (listen LOL the whole premise of Our House is that human!daniel molloy is not ready for children and i find it hard to budge from that mindset, but he could ease into the Cool Uncle role quite nicely). he handles distractions and food cravings, and he might not be down to be a dad yet but he does buy very thoughtful and sentimental baby gifts every now and then that make armand tear up
i was gonna add mermaid AU thoughts but then i remembered armand's laying eggs instead (he's feral during that whole process too so i guess it's similar to the vampire version. i just love him so much okay!!!)
OH ONE LAST VERY IMPORTANT THING
pregnant!armand fics on ao3 I'M CRAZY ABOUT AND HAVE REREAD AT LEAST 10 TIMES:
shelter by @rainbowcarousels
it must be the clouds in my eyes and everything in that series by @its-ness-ness

Daniel pretending to be a vampire while human and grabbing Armand with all his strength and biting him with his bare teeth only for Armand to go all pliant and gentle like a human and making a tear for him so Daniel could drink all he wanted and both getting off on it will never not be the most insane thing Anne ever wrote IMO. She was truly operating on a whole different level of genius for a while there 😮‍💨
What an incredible ask to get for Valentine's Day because this is honestly one of the sweetest, most loving things Armand does.
I feel like this must have happened a lot. Often probably starting out with Daniel giving Armand a hickey and sucking on his neck, but then the allure of the blood in his veins is too much. So he starts to gnaw on his throat, biting down hard with his mortal teeth, wanting to break the skin and mimic being the vampire he so desperately wants to be.
And Armand endures it, patiently, sweetly, probably holding Daniel against him as he tries to tear open his flesh. He probably enjoys the sensation and Daniel's tenacity, his determination. The way his teeth scrape against his skin. And then instead of pushing him away, Armand finally makes the gash for him so that he can drink, enjoying Daniel's lips on his neck, the way it feels to have him drinking from him like that, not from the wrist but right from his throat.
It's so sweet and it shows how much Armand loves Daniel. 💖
Of course, you know once it does it the first time, Daniel is at his throat once a week, waiting for Armand to go ahead and tear open that little cut for him to drink from. 😂 But I do think they both enjoy it as a little game, even if sometimes it makes Armand think about what it would be like if Daniel were a vampire after all, and that's definitely a road of thought he'd prefer not to let himself travel.
Thank you so much for the ask, anon!! Anne really channeled magic when she wrote Devil's Minion and I am grateful for it every day. Happy Valentine's Day!

MARIUS QUESTIONS HELLO 3. What first drew you to this character? 18. Do you prefer to see this character suffer or know peace? Angst or comfort? Both? 25. What kind of fan-fiction do you read about this character? If you don’t read fan-fics about them, why not? 34. Does this character inspire you with little things in your daily life? 50. Link your fav song, playlist, aesthetic board, fan-fiction, reference pile, personal artwork, analysis post, meme, headcanon, or quote for this character. Whichever one (s) you are most comfortable with!
AAAAAA, get ready!! (Thank you good italian perv fairy :D)
3. His name. It was so clearly wrong yet evocative of Rome I had to wonder why would anyone that ancient choose it. Why hide your identity in plain sight basically? (Turns out it's not that deep and he was just horny) Furthermore the concept of a Roman Vampire and how did that come to be was an instant turn on for me
18. Hmm...to illustrate, I haven't read the PL trilogy yet but based on what I gathered from the fandom and specifically what Eef told me I already know I will likely not be a big fan of the whole Prime Minister development. Because it just seems like the easier way out for him, I'm sorry! Yeah he lost his purpose, so let's give him another one quickly so that he can pick up the old pieces of his life and lies without much fuss. Well yeah, as of now I prefer a state of uneasiness for him, because I feel like he's not ready to know true peace. But I sure as hell hope he'd get there one day, it's the best thing immortality can do for him!
25. I both read and write a lot of Human AUs, my favourites include Vantablack, you might have heard of it, it's very fucking good and sends chills running down my spine every single time. Ultimately though I think it's tied to Marius specifically, more like the whole universe Anne had created. If you choose to make a bunch of terrible night parasites into humans you obviously have to adjust so much and it just depends on what you want to do and leaves room for a specific kind of creativity I'd say that's just very sympathetic and cool to me. If you want to write teeth rotting fluff, you can! I don't think *I'd* prefer to read it to some other concepts but it's doable and challenging too.
50. My Marius playlist my Armand/Marius playlist and my tiny Marius/Pandora playlist. This pinterest board for the project Suppliant. My favourite fanart. I can't think of much more in the moment.

Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 episode 17 Adoration
(Spoilers as this episode is out before other ones)
-Andre bonding with the child Audrey the supposed love of his life had with another man.
-I pity that man, changed everything about himself for love… it’s actually kind of sad. Because it’s clear he fell for the wrong person.
-Zoe got someone she is in love with. I’d say it’s Marinette, because she has LITERALLY no other people she has seen interacting with. But I doubt it will appear since this is an international show. So my bet is they will imply it without saying it, plus, Zoe doesn’t show the photo she was gonna bury.
-oh so Zoe is in 8th grade while Marinette is in 9th grade. So at least that conforms Audrey cheated on Andre AFTER having Chloe, Damn
-so those two are the reps. Also. Marc is a year younger than them. Interesting
-oh the zoenette is strong in this one
-The storage of all the gifts she made for Adrien, which needs cleaning out. Guess Marinette chilled out about things. Good on her.
-huh… this is the first time we actually get a full on tour of her room. (We see it a lot, but never knew how she divided her stuff up. Neat.
-Oh the hidden adrien simp board is new. Love the touch. (I love the little sticky drawings)
Tumblr media
-That probably hurt Zoe more than she would let on.
-not gonna lie I know Andre isn’t his real name, but I get why he changed it. It’s a mouthful.
-the butlers name is Armand!?
-Zoe knows everyone in the hotel. Good. Glad that girl is respectful to the people that help run the place. (Zoe + 3 respect)
-And Chloe and Sabrina are there… what a shock (not really)
- Yea the show really just removed any and all character development they had for Chloe and squeezed it into Zoe. Points for Zoe standing up to Chloe.
-At least Audrey is still in character.
-Andre really be like (I prefer the daughter that was born from another man banging my wife than my own) points to the Simp mayor
-I take it back Anax as a nickname sounds kind of dope
-You ever just see a character on screen and hope a piano falls on him? Yes I’m talking about Gabriel that sterilized tampon
-now Nathalie here being the GOAT with only one line. Respect for Nathalie. Girl really gave up on her simp tendencies and decided to just be the mother Adrien needs
-Gabriel really be the worst. Looks like Lila gonna cook up something
-seems Zoe forgot about the photo is out. Which I bet will cause a misunderstanding with her hiding it.
-What exactly does Sabrina have morals in? Also side note, PUNCHING BAG?! Really?
-Yea, Chloe just be mustache twirling evil
-Vanisher is back and with Dog powers
-Lila literally plotted an akumatization.
-if I had a dollar for everytime Someone couldn’t tell Marinette they were in love with her. I’d have 2 nickles. Which isn’t a lot but weird it happened twice
-Marinette is pretty clever figuring out all the details… EXCEPT THE FACT THAT ITS HER!?
-Marinette shows she supports Love is Love.
-Op she thought it was a he, to bad Marinette you failed the game. Rip.
-wait did Marinette just condone polyamory? I might have read that wrong
-Marinette consulting Alya on the matter
-oh so that’s how Marinette gets the assumption it’s Adrien. To be fair, I’d have come to that conclusion at some point to.
-oh I can feel the awkward situation coming in 3…2….1….
-Zoe, thinking (wow I reall fell for a simp)
-ah yes the cringe is finally here, now to spend the next Hour trying to watch the episode.
-OOOO A MONTAGE, so how many items can be retrieved via one whistle blow
- They really replaced Luka with Nino. Wait… DOES THAT MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS! Was the truth finally revealed?!
-I get the plan now, they are framing her for stealing stuff. So basically what Lila did in the episode Ladybug. That’s not surprising but also kind of mid. I was expecting more pizzaz. Side note, Zoe was with her the whole time? Also why would she steal from her parents?
-The Chloe accusing her part was clever, because the motive of Chloe walking in to yell at Marinette is very believable
- okay I take it back, this plan has Pizzaz. But the fact everyone sort of just believes it even her own parents? Like come on? And with an akuma litterally anything is possible.
-And Marinette caught on, sees vanisher thanks to the flowers.
-Chloé legit has a Gold phone?!
-Zoe is taking the blame! Zoe no!?
-Oh! Vanisher can just call back whatever she wants. Proof is in the pudding. Good thing Marinette is ladybug. Piñata time!!! Viva piñata
-yum ladynoir crumbs
- Rip Luka’s guitar
-Chloe now getting stared down
-So confession time!
-Well she never outright say it… but She pretty much says it and Marinette confirms it though turns her down. I’m surprised they did that much
-I was complaining earlier about subtlety but this was tastefully done.
-I FUCKING KNEW SHE WAS DOWN BAD SINCE DAY ONE!
-Good on Zoe for encouraging Marinette. Even though she got turned down. But at least it was canon
-Oh damn Marinette is gonna confess
-SHE DID IT FOLKS! She fucking did it! And Adrien is receptive! Will we get a kiss!?
-GABRIEL YOU COCKBLOCKING FUCKING PIECE OF GARBAGE! I WILL END YOU!
-My heart breaks for Marinette
_________________________________________
7/10
It was a fine episode, I think a lot of it felt padded out, and while I enjoyed the first few minutes and the LAST few minutes were epic. The rest of the episode felt… meh.
Yea Adrien is a sentimonster. There is no denying it. Like I’m sorry for the hood outs. This episodes ending confirmed it completely. Which may be the reason I’m not gonna rate it higher.

The tower scene being rumoured to be being film soon 👀👀👀
I’ve seen some people really excited to see lestat get a sort of comeuppance when armand does what he does to him which I do understand since it’s so vital to lestat’s progression but I don’t necessarily see it anymore ‘funny’ than his murder scene for example, it’s a really traumatic moment.
Narratively it’s a bit of karma for lestat but admand isn’t meant to be justified, yeah? Admand is in pain buts it’s irrational pain, no more justified than the scenario of lestat dropping Louis from the sky because lestat was in emotional distress, it’s an evil thing to do. And I don’t see them changing if so armand hurts lestat to get venagnce for Louis’ sake(which I have seen a couple people suggesting), that’s just over-riding Armand’s personal motivations and relationship with lestat entirely, if it had anything to do with Louis it was because he wanted lestat out the picture for a while like he wanted Claudia out the picture permanently so he could have Louis’ focus, right?
I suppose it depends what POV we get for the tower scene, and if it would be revisited in season 3, but how do you want the lestat-armand tower scene to be handled?
Yesss!!!
And while I cannot wait to see it either I do agree that it... is not meant to be "funny" or as revenge for Louis at all. Armand couldn't care less about that, tbh.
The thing with Armand and Louis and Lestat then is, that... it is about Lestat. Lestat who rejected Armand, Lestat who destroyed Armand's life/coven then, Lestat who came to Armand but not for Armand... Lestat who then told Armand about Louis and what Louis means to Lestat. Lestat, who made Armand interested in Louis.
Armand drops Lestat there (at least in the books), because he is hurting (still). And he wants Lestat to hurt, too. (Which is why so many have pointed out that the scene in episode 5 is so eerily close to what Armand does to Lestat...) Armand could kill Lestat there, easily, but he doesn't.
The thing with the "Lestat eating the humble pie" is... that it is actually after.
It's when Lestat has time to reflect, and heal, and go to earth. When he is alone, abandoned and thinks both Louis and Claudia dead (that is vastly different to the state he is in after NOLA because then he is panicking and wants to get to Paris as soon as possible in order to reach them and get Armand's blood). After is when he has time to change.
And so... while I get why some people are rubbing their hands in glee for the scene... I think they might end up being disappointed. Because it is not about that. It's not about revenge, or the famous humble pie.
I mean, I am not sure how they'll spin it. I have theorized that it might be Louis who will throw Lestat off the tower this time... or tell us he did at least. (That depends heavily how they'll spin the theater imho.)
We'll see. I would prefer it if it was Armand, because Armand's and Lestat's relationship is such an important one for the Chronicles as well, and for season 3. And it could be made so beautifully into some kind of echo for / to Daniel.
But.... whatever they'll do - I bet it will be at the end of another episode 5. 😈

whew this conversation on misogynoir and claudia. if there's one character where there's no legitimate reason to hate her it's claudia. she's literally the embodiment of has never done anything wrong in her life. i hope someone (not me 😩) explores the childism angle wrt to claudia. because people be hating children and wanting to dominate them.
the fun of claudia's character is that she isnt a good person by any real life morals. by way of her youth, she could not develop enough understanding of complex moral codes [which is even more prominent w/ claudia being turned @ the age of 5 in books but even then.. ik at 14, i was hardly the pinnacle of morality and maturity, i was reckless & destructive, and did not understand consequence until it kicked my ass]. the moral dilemma of the actual brutality of vampirism is something shes certainly better at disassociating from than louis simply bc she was too young to understand right & wrong.. as iwtv novel said and the title of ep4 is, it is the reckless pursuit of blood w/ a child's demanding in ep4 that leads claudia to killing & disposing of bodies recklessly, a hurricane hitting lifting the bodies up, and her leaving. even tho shes a 20 something woman, lestat x louis tried to give her a second [or her first] childhood, and most importantly, her brain is permanently metasized w/ the thought patterns & responses of a poor 14 year old girl who came out of a fire on the verge of death. she leaves bc she cognitively is unprepared for & does not want to deal w/ the consequences that come with exposing this household of interracial gay dudes w/ a creole chid during the jim crow days to heightened police scrutiny. the question w/ claudia [& armand, and all these creatures] is that can u recognize their capacity for cruelty, the tragedy & loss of agency/life done upon them and still sympathize with them? for claudia, people already had a 50/50 view of her in vc fandom for 'getting in the way of the ship' esp w/ her oedipal [mutual] dynamic w louis, but in amc show, the relationship's certainly changed on louis's end. i cant say amc louis has the capacity to long after any woman much less claudia in that way, but there is a sense of [co]dependency on a black girlwoman thats much more interesting here. i got a post on that somewhere lol. im not sure what childism means but im guessing it refers to the denial of humanity children face by adults, and i definitely find that true. lestat and louis both want to keep claudia preserved in their memory as their little girl, lestat even moreso when claudia begins to question & challenge his authority as the patriarch.. louis picks & chooses when to regard claudia as a grown woman [saying shes almost 33 to lestat when she comes back, and when she cooks up the plan to kill lestat, evening himself out to be merely one of lestat's creations when he asks "can the children kill the father" to ease his guilt for his love and his hate for their maker, their abuser, his husband, alladat] and when to regard claudia as his child [even in the modern day when he talks about her, being protective of her diaries in the face of the white interviewer/audiences]. fans saying 'yea lestat, claudia should stay out of ur lovelife' is hilarious cuz lestat dragged claudia back into their lovelife in the permanent role as their child, when she wanted to leave in ep6, and made her to keep louis attached to him [cuz he thinks louis couldnt keep loving him otherwise]. shes a rhetorical device in the marriage: lestat loves her cruelty, louis loves her innocence, bc those aspects of claudia remind them of [how they see] themselves. misogynoir & childism, as u word it, may play into fans’s disinterest but also favoring an interpretation of claudia within the lines of their preferred party btwn lestat x louis, which is also why i giggle to myself when ppl tag claudia w/ either one of their surnames
