My favorite little character trait so far in Castlevania Nocturne is Olrox's possessiveness.
Once he marks something as his, it's his whether he even realizes it or not.
We are told, straight up by him, that he turned his lover into a vampire without his partner's say-so. Lenore mentioned the nature of Vampires—the ever-present hunger. This burning desire to grow and consume, consequences be damned. We see this in Erzsebet's obsessive need to become the ruler of all things in existence, so much so that she has fashioned herself as the Messiah. We see this compulsive gluttony in Carmilla and her all-consuming greed; she simply must have it all, because no one else is deserving of the world.
We see it in Godbrand's animalistic, sadistic tendencies when hunting his prey. Chō's demented need to make every kill, every transformation a perverse performance of her monstrous skill.
We definitely see it in Dracula. His anger and wrath, razing kingdoms and laying waste to societies.
There is a gaping maw seemingly inherent in all those turned into Vampires. Humanity's flaws taken to their most extreme conclusions once the Vampiric venom drips through.
Olrox is possessive beyond belief. What is his is his.
He claims he doesn't love Mizrak, but risks exposing himself to Drolta and Erzsebet the second Mizrak's life is in danger.
He cannot let go, just like Vlad. He must get even. With Olrox, at least this thirst for vengeance is balanced by his adherence to what he views as justice, which means he isn't the type to initiate a war in the name of his beloved. Olrox is "An Eye for an Eye" adherent.
It's something that truly intrigues me, because every single named Vampire exhibits this endless hunger.
Even Death, who is considered a type of vampire itself.
Alucard, I think, is free (or at least more in control) because of Lisa's own human nature—the ability to feel satisfaction, as well as her nurturing light. This is only developed further because of Trevor, Sypha and Greta.
Which begs the question: what is Tera's hunger? What is that idea or feeling that'll hook its fangs into her skin and drive her into reckless abandon?
Love for Maria and Richter? The feelings of betrayal against the Abbott? Her hatred of Erzsebet for the murder of her sister?
Another fucking reason why I need SEASON 2 NOW GOD FUCK NETFLIX STOP RENEWING EMILY IN PARIS YOU WACKOS.

Why do we have so little fanart? 🥺
I found this one on Pinterest (artist wasn’t mentioned but not my work!) but surely, when I see how many beautiful and creative things are being made out there, we must have some creative peeps too?
Been thinking of making a Dragatha fb page but I would like some more - credited! - art to add.
Just…throwing it out there, am at home sick and have too much time on my hands 😅

In 2020 at my age of 22 I met another Dracula played by Danish actor Claes Bang. This actor has a bit of a resemblance to Christopher Lee, his 6'4 (1.94) height, his red contact lenses, his very flirtatious mischievous appearance to seduce his ladies, I admit that Bang caught me. In that year I was not as open as I am now that I can publish photos of Chris Lee on my Facebook account, in expressing the love that I felt towards Christopher Lee, I was afraid, I was more worried about what others would say about me. others find out about this, I was far, far away from Lee. I went back to Lee because in Bang, Lee reflected himself in him. In that photo of Bang, memories of Lee came to mind, I saw a resemblance to him and I thought why continue hiding my feelings towards him. I like Bang but his facial features are not as defined as his Lee face, Christopher Lee for me is perfect, unique and I love him, because he was the first Dracula I saw and loved since I was 11 years old.

So you'll die.
So will you. Did you really think that after all this time I would let it hurt?

Many people talk about hating Moffat because of social justice thingies, but am I the only one who hates him for the dialogue? It's so stiff. At this point I can tell when Moffat wrote an episode or a series without even looking at the credits, because the dialogue sounds like each character is trying *really* hard to produce a clever quote. There's always a character that's supposed to be the genious smartass, and he will explain the obvious to the audience like we don't have a brain. The conversations scream "I'm 14 and this sounds cool and mysterious". The characters never talk like people.
I saw this in Sherlock, Dracula and a bit of Doctor Who. The pattern repeats. There was an episode of Doctor Who that I literally just thought "Moffat wrote this" in the middle of the episode, and guess what? He had. I had guessed it from the dialogue and pretentiously stupid plotpoints.

That short 3 episode Dracula series on Netflix is...

Ok, sorry, the more I watch the show, the more I read the fantastic @anncanta posts, the more Dragatha I see!
Johnny in his moment of fear asks Dracula not to kill him. Dracula “promises” him he won’t, if Jonathan swears…. But as Jonathan so rightly knows and says: you will kill me anyway…
Because people are food. Some are fun, some are entertainment but in the end, Dracula is all powerful and does as he wishes.
Up to a certain extent, he has fun in human suffering, I’m thinking about the scenes where he sets the wolves on the nuns. (Oohh that’s gotta hurt)
There is no reason why he would keep his promise to Agatha to let Mina go.
He can trick Agatha by letting Mina run, bite / incapacitate Agatha and turn Mina into dessert. How would Agatha even know?
Yet we know from episode 3 she survived. So we know he kept his promise to Agatha.
Why?
Our vampire is falling in love. He might not realise it but…I will make you last: I’m not willing to part with you yet.
You’ll be part of me: I will keep you close.
Travel to new worlds: I want to show you wonders.
And on top of that, he gives her a present: Mina’s life. And he doesn’t come back on that, doesn’t take his present back.
That scene is *almost* him asking her out for coffee. He even adds a gift in the hopes she’ll say yes.
I love this show ♥️

"after all this time, did you think i'd let it hurt?"

i caved in! i love this scene so much i just had to write this for it. it's pretty short and essentially just a retelling, but it was such a beautiful scene i couldn't help it. claes and dolly's chemistry was so good!
“You lose. You will live forever. In shame.”
Shame. Dracula kept his gaze on her. Everything he thought he knew about himself had been a lie. He’d been alive for so long everything had become a haze around his one principal goal; eternal life - a haze that Agatha Van Helsing had managed to find clarity within. A clarity he’d never thought to search for himself. For the first time in his many years of living, he questioned everything about himself. So much so he was willing to surrender himself.
Dracula watched Agatha, in the body of Zoe, wither away in her last breaths. His breath was shaky also, as he leaned over and picked her up in his arms, one grasping her knees, the other cradling her shoulders. He let her head rest against his chest. She was so very frail. She was in pain. And for once, the pain of another pained him to the bone. The count placed her gently on the surface of the table; the marble was probably freezing against her skin - he removed his coat and placed it over her shoulders, a gesture of care, before he was to do her a kindness in the form of a most heinous act.
Dracula took one last glimpse of the sun, shining in all her glory, before he hoisted himself up on the counter and clambered atop Zoe’s body. Her hair was the same dark chestnut that is had been all those years ago. Though shorter and straighter, it framed her chiseled face just as it had that balmy night aboard the Demeter. He couldn’t help but admire her natural beauty. Dracula gently brushed her hair off her neck and slightly pulled the neck of her shirt down to allow him easier access to that vital artery, careful not to scratch her skin with his nails as though he wasn’t just about to tear her throat out with his teeth.
Dracula, placed a gentle kiss to her cheek. “Goodbye... Agatha.”
And thenhe bore his teeth and sunk his fangs deep into her flesh.
She did not taste good. The exquisite saltiness and cherry-hints of her blood were no longer, instead replaced by a liquid so foul, so acidic it felt toxic against his tongue. Bush he didn’t spit it out. He kept sucking and drinking and sucking and drinking, every swallow burning his throat from the inside out.
But he masked the suffering with something beautiful for her.
“This isn’t real. This is a dream.”
“Of course it is.”
“You’re drinking my blood. And my blood is deadly to you.”
“Yes.”
“So you’ll die...”
Dracula finally pulled away, thick poison driping down his chin, his eyes as black as the ace of spades. Her breathing had stopped, and he knew he too was not far off. He took one final gasp of air into his lungs, before collapsing atop her.
“So will you.”
The world around him dissipated out, as his consciousness met hers within that glorious dream land. His vision filled with a warming, comforting yellow light, like fire.
He could feel a soft, feminine touch on his back, and as he opened his eyes, he met her gaze. That kind, blue gaze of hers. He was with her, his body over her but this time he wasn’t drinking her blood, but kissing her neck. Tenderly. He felt the lust to worship her, surge through his veins.
His intelligent, witty, most unorthodox Agatha.
After all she’d been though, he wanted to make her final moments as beautiful as possible. And this was perfect.
Dracula pulled away from the kiss to gaze into her eyes once more, her hands cupping his cheeks. His fingertips grazed her chest as he rolled onto his side, immersed in her embrace. He allowed his lips to linger along her collarbones, lazily placing his leg over her lower thigh, velvet covering maintaining her modesty. She was truly beautiful.
And as they lay there in their nakedness, embraced in the arms of each other, they became enveloped in a bright sunlight. It wasn’t painful, but warm, pleasurable. All-consuming, yet tranquil.
“After all this time, did you think I’d let it hurt?”
