ok this was too long for a reply but when i saw the mountain goats live john darnielle forgot the words to magpie and asked the audience if they remembered and one guy was like "I DO!" and then couldnt come up with them and this whole theater of HUGE mountain goats fans could not come up with it when put on the spot. he also said he gets asked to play No Children at weddings all the time for some reason

Scar didn’t pay it much mind, he’d already known of their habits from the tobacco scent that seemed to follow his partner, lingering behind them. 

“Those are going to kill you one day, yknow,” Scar said, more as an observation than a protest. Most people here didn’t have much hope for a future- at least Scar knew that he didn’t. This was a last-ditch resort before he finally ended up dead in a ditch somewhere, finally done something so stupid it’d be his downfall. And he didn’t really mind. 

If Scar were going to die, then at least he’d be content with having met Grian before he died. He’d be content with seeing the blazing sun rise over the desert, feeling the Arizona heat in his lungs, and singing songs around the fire. At least this could be a new chance- even if it was the last one. 

“I’m aware,” Grian said, before lighting one and taking a drag. 

“Grian, I think this is going to be a good thing,” Scar proclaimed after a moment of silence. “Us, I mean. This place. This retreat.” 

“And why’s that?” Grian asked, skeptically raising an eyebrow. 

“I think we have a chance here, Gri. I see this sun rising over the horizon and I see hope. I sit on this porch, and there’s warmth in the air, and I feel hope. I look at you Grian, and I’m looking at hope,” he said, gesturing wildly to illustrate his point, before ending by placing a single hand on Grian’s chest. He felt the steady thu-thump of her heart, and with that heartbeat there was hope. 

Grian gave a sad smile, placing their hand gently on top of Scar’s rough one, holding it close to their chest. “Oh, Scar. There’s no hope within me, I can promise you that.”  

“At least let me pretend there is, Grian.”

“I will.”

35- what's you're favorite fic you've posted? not for my current fandom, but FM 147.3. i don't think I can top the writing quality in that one lmao.

68- are there any fics that influenced the way you write? YES. the drdi series, o nazarene, coliseum, and bishop's knife trick have all influenced my writing style lol.
