was writing this on a gif set comparing Yaz's conversation about the Doctor with Jack in rotd and her one with Dan eotd but. it's the parallels.

how she does the same thing each time. The person (Jack/Dan) probes gently at the obvious feelings/connection Yaz has for the Doctor; then Yaz tries to shut them down with a quick flat comment that should have them backing off. You're getting a lot from a shove, and I don't know what you mean. Defence mechanisms. But Jack and Dan don't back off; they look and speak to her gently, because both of them understand the place she's in, and when confronted with that fact-

Yaz gives this look. It's like defeat - defeated in the fact that she couldn't lie better, that they've figured her out. and she turns to them and there's just this truth off her lips. this vulnerability. she doesn't pretend. doesn't dodge. just sighs out her feelings, I just missed her and is it that obvious? the same confession, a whole weight in just four words, and she's got this same air about her. this massive thing she's always carrying under the surface, cracked and let forth. Like the cloth falling off the final act, but it's just Yaz being honest about the con she's trying to run with herself, that she doesn't have to confront her own truth. that the Doctor means more to her than she wants to obviously admit.

idk. yet again, love Mandip's acting in those scenes, bringing the same reactions to such believable life.

Okay HERE’S MY THEORY for why 10 appeared in his own clothes (This Makes No Sense Warning):

It wasn’t a real regeneration. It was Tentoo imposing himself back into this dimension, briefly, using the regeneration as like a homing beacon/weak point.

Either that or Chibnall’s a coward who didn’t want to put David Tennant in Jodie’s costume, which is honestly equally likely fhdhfjdgd

(ALSO. It wasn’t even 10’s actual costume, which further supports my theory, I think. Wrong tie, wrong suit, a dark blue coat overtop. Just a whole new costume that looks similar at first glance, plus the fact that David has aged (if only a little fhdgjgdh), and they can’t explain that away as it being ‘an ai adapting to its receiver’s memory’ like with the other docs this ep. Anyway. Thanks for coming to my TED talk I guess :] )

thinking about how insane this all is for Yaz, like. from the end of s12 to tpotd.

the doctor lets you (yaz) fly the TARDIS, perhaps teaches you (she didn’t let the others touch the TARDIS but she’ll trust you to). the doctor travels with you alone (you spent ten months waiting for her) and now it’s just you and her. she wants you to help her with her secret mission (come blow up karv’s base with me Yaz!) but then sneaks off at the first chance to interogate karv alone (you still hasn’t heard about division. you’ll spend four years in the past and you’ll still not hear about division).

then the world starts ending, you’re wrenched from the doctor who looks like that when you’re disappearing, you do what she would (wwtdd is written on your palm) and she jumps into an unstable time stream to preserve your life. your sister mentions nimble fingers, and then transforms into the doctor (of all the times?). the doctor snaps at you when you’re being understanding despite her being a secretive ass all this time, but still makes you a personalised hologram just in case you’re separated again (and looks like that when she talks about missing you). when you reunite, she hugs you like it’s been decades (its been two days for her).

she looks all teary eyed and promises to tell you everything. you almost kiss (dan interrupts, but you almost kiss). you realise your feelings. next thing you know, she’s taking you on a underwater date and flirting and trying to impress you (you’re so confused and wondering what the hell?). she tells you you’re amazing and that if she was going to date anyone, it’d be you. then tells you she can’t. because reasons. then looks at you and tells you I wish this could last forever (what the hell does that mean? forever? with you? but she won’t date you? what the hell?).

And then you’re up to the last adventure. which involves her murderous, untrustworthy best friend/ex. and her death (but you don’t know that yet).

One strange thing I've noticed about Chibnall Who is how sparse it is. Any time the show takes place in the modern day the streets are so empty.

There's barely anyone about, like they are desperately trying to save money on extras. It is really noticeable when you look at the eras before and after it.

I might agree with you about Dean's anger being OOC if he didn't also suck in every other way. He's controlling and abusive. He's the reason Lucifer gets to apocalypse world which lets Michael come back and then he says yes to Michael which let's Michael destroy a bunch of stuff to the point that Jack has to burn off his soul. It's all Dean's fault.

this is hilarious to me because not only is it not dean's idea to use lucifer's grace to get to apocalypse world, the way in which they end up doing it is explicitly sam's idea.

exhibit A: cas (not dean) being the one to bring it up in the first place

exhibit b: dean specifically waiting for sam to agree and sam getting an idea

exhibit c: sam explicitly explaining that what they're doing was his idea

we can talk about all the shitty things that dean has actually done but i'm very much over pretending like dean was the only person ever making choices and everything was his fault.
