Finally “completed” one of the Link designs! I say “completed” because, you know me… I’ll most likely keep making changes. Especially those pants, my creativity flopped on that front.

Anyways here’s Champion, or BotW/TotK Link! There was a 3/4-year time gap from the events of the first game to its sequel, and I am fully convinced that Link is supposed to look at least slightly older in TotK, even though the game doesn’t really represent that? I tried to keep his design relatively simple and consistent between the two designs, where TotK is more of an “upgraded” version of BotW, rather than a redesign. He wears more or less the same basics but with upgraded gear!

Somewhat random collection of eiochevart au info

(Bc I don’t know how to structure things)

Some lore details that may or may not be important to the story

First of all, I think it’s worth noting that a handful of my Links are, well… ghosts? Ya. They’re dead. And let’s just say Link’s don’t tend to grow very old.

Ages!!

(Many of these aren’t finalized and may never be)

Mural (ALBW): 14-15 years old

Sailor (WW): 12-14, depends on what part of his story arc we’re in? Alternatively, 13 years old bc that’s the median

Rancher (TP): 17-19 years old, older teen but not quite an adult yet

Prophecy (OoT): early-mid 30’s

Atlas (ALTTP/etc.): mid-late 20’s?

Ancestor (SkSw): mid twenties. Unfortunately, one of the youngest of the… dead ones?

Sign language?

Exclusively uses sign language: Mural, Atlas

Uses sign language sometimes: Champion (BotW/TotK), Prophecy (less verbal as a child)

Vocal/verbal: Rancher, Sailor, Ancestor

Yo! I redesigned some Links

Here are my Links so far, I know some are missing, but honestly I don’t know their games too well so I wasn’t as inspired to redesign them (yet).

I’m still figuring out names for them! So far here are the ones I’m testing out:

Seeing how Champion Link has gained weight between games and with the implications that Zelda is living with him (in the same bed!), I recently headcanon that she often uses his stomach as a pillow.

This is too sweet! I peeeersonally don’t see them as romantic partners, but the idea was too cute not to draw.

To be honest, I don’t see him being too disappointed or insecure about his body. First of all, the change is more than anything a sign of recovery (physical, in the sense that he’s getting rest from running around and surviving in the wilderness, and mental, in the sense that he has time to indulge in activities he enjoys — such as cooking — plus he’s allowed to “let himself loose”). Second, I think he’d be the person to care more about healing mentally rather than his appearance.

Essentially, I don’t think he’d necessarily have to be comforted! But it’s still sweet that he’s got people around him who would if he needed it.

Got any body headcanons for the Links? At the moment, I see Ancestor (Skyward Sword Link) being more chubby due to his morning laziness and stamina meter.

Thank you for asking! I’ve been wanting to draw the Links’ body types for a while now :D

Ok so, I’m totally with you on the Sksw Link headcanon, though in my AU he’s a bit more than just lazy in the morning: he’s generally very lethargic and tired most of the time… Take that as you will. Edit: I am far from the first person who has characterized him that way! Just to be clear. I take a lot of inspiration from other artists and AUs.

As for the other Links!! I find Champion (Botw/Totk) very interesting to draw, because of the way I made his body change between the two games. In Botw he was leaner, in Totk he’s gained some weight, but is still muscular. And he’s the only one who’s had top surgery, I haven’t decided if it’s an age thing or a timeline thing (that the practice didn’t become a thing until Botw era??).

Rancher (Tp) is buff yadayada come get y’all’s juice I guess. Love drawing him, I feel like gives really good and strong hugs.

And Mural, aaah I adore him, I made his body somewhat inspired by myself as a young teen. Makes me happy. Idk how he feels about it though. I don’t think he cares too much about his body tbh - he does care about his appearance in terms of clothes and accessories, but body-wise? Eh.

I found the trousers (booty shorts) of the hero in my totk save and let me tell you I’m OBSESSED. Here’s Champion wearing some of my fave totk outfit combos. Ignore the right arm… maybe this is after the events of totk. Idk.
