hi! want to experience all the highs and lows of IYR/RTG (IF YOU REGRET / RESET THE GAME) but have no idea where to start or what Lyn and I are even going on about? no problem! here's a starter pack/summary post that'll get you up to speed in no time 💫

the tldr is that it's a roleswap AU where Haru is the protag and Ann is the traitor. the "not long enough; need more context" (doesn't roll off the tongue quite like tldr though) is below the read more!!

NOTE: this AU contains spoilers for both vanilla Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. you've been warned!

most of the information for the AU is very neatly summed up (and comes with extremely good art by Lyn) in this thread on Lyn's twitter. below is more of a neat recap containing some plot points and stuff that you can use for reference or whatever.

what does IYR/RTG mean?

it means "if you regret, reset the game" and is a lyric from the song Axe to Grind from Persona 5 Strikers! it's a reference to how the roleswap is essentially a 'reset' of the canon game.

how did the AU come about?

two years ago I (Ash) posted a silly tweet about a roleswap AU "but it's just the Thieves put in a randomiser" and Lyn saw traitor!Ann and went wild. anyway two years passed and we're now back working together to make the AU a reality! sort of! we're not Maruki! maybe!

Kawakami now works at Crossroads part-time rather than the maid service. there is no maid service in IYR/RTG.

Crossroads is also the place where Haru winds up spending most of her time due to the high number of confidants there and their lax rules about having birds in the bar

there's also a new waitress at Crossroads called Ren!

Shido is a complete nobody in the AU and is not relevant to the plot at all

the confidants that have been swapped out are either dead (sorry Sae) or they no longer need their confidant chain doing due to the lack of Shido in the AU

Ohya is now having a great time with her reporting partner and probably drinks a somewhat reasonable amount now maybe

Haru's dad is alive and well and still a complete asshole

💫Girlfailure Anon's Terrible Seduction List💫

For Eliza, I'd probably start working out (gross), not for the purpose of bettering myself or anything, but just so I can smell bad. I wanna entice that little doggy nose of hers. I'd go on runs past wherever she's stationed for that day, acting all cute and innocent, maybe one day I'd fall over in front of her and scrape my knee, whining and sobbing like a wounded animal. Hopefully by that time my scent is rich enough she can't help but pounce on me.

For Bibi, I'm attending all of her executions and laughing obnoxiously at her jokes. Maybe I'll stand at the very back of the crowd and flash her one time.

If we ignore the fact I've already failed Selene by sleeping around a ton, for her I'd try the simple lonely girl at a bar technique. I don't even drink but I'll take one for the team, act super cute and naive, wowww a tall lady you're sooooo coooooool. I've never seen someone so biggggg, you should try lifting me up!! Please lift me up!! Put me on your shoulders!! I wanna see the world from up there!! That's when I've got her hook line and sinker, she plops me on her shoulders and I'm not wearing panties under my skirt. (I'm 5'3 btw please lift me up Selene)

Ellie is a difficult one. I honest to god have no idea how I'd seduce her. Sorry Ellie.

For Darla, I'm playing her own game back at her. I'm putting on a dumbass persona just for her. "Omg we WOULD make a cute couple!!! Could you IMAGINE if we dated, I'd be like, your cute little housewife!! Too bad you're wayyy too pretty to date someone like me, right Darly?". Play some truth or dare with her, play coy until she decides she's gonna fuck my brains out, then I've got her.

I'm trapping Theanna with the wombo combo, maid dress and lingere. One is part of my uniform obviously, but I intentionally keep it a little on the short side. I act incredibly delicate and kind, I'm formal and subserviant, obeying her every whim. "Yes lady Theanna. Anything you desire, your majesty.". One day I let her catch me crying softly to myself, if she bothers to ask me what's wrong I try to tell her it's nothing before revealing I'm just oh so heartbroken. You see, I fear that the one I love is due to be wedded soon, and not to me. It's just so tragic. Maybe it clicks with her that I'm referring to the suitors that have been swarming her lately, maybe it doesn't. Regardless, I let her catch me alone, so she can make me hers.

For Veronia, I'm wandering into the woods with a flower crown and a long, beautiful dress. I'm learning how to speak like a proper lady, acting like a scared princess who's afraid and lost in the woods. "It would just be oh so terrible if I was snatched up and violated by some terrifying beast..." maybe I give her a chase first, see how long it takes for her to catch me. Oh and I'm making sure that the dress is easily tearable. Shoulderless too.

And finally, Kassien. Who is also really difficult because realistically I can't hold down a job at all, but if we pretend I could, and somehow end up working in the same building as her, I'm activating full clichè mode and bumping into her with a stack of papers, falling on my ass and scrambling on all fours to pick everything up. Making sure to apologise profusely as I stick my ass up in my very short skirt, wearing a thong of course. Maybe I start crying and whining about how I'm gonna be fired, working here is just oh so difficult but I need the money, I really just wish I could be taken care of. I hate being independant. I kind of just act pathetic until she takes charge in the situation. She better hurry up with it tho because I'm definetly getting fired for looking up a guide on how to seduce a demon on company time.

Thunder —- WIP: Magically Inclined. 

Thunder shakes the entire room when Cassian appears with flair, causing Caesar to roll her eyes at the magic woman and let out an irritated groan. 

“Do you always have to do that? Can’t you — I don’t know — walk through the fucking front door like a normal person?” 

Onset —- The Palms (Bury Me Deep. I’m actually reworking this so this scene might get scrapped or rewritten oof or even used in a different bit. CLOUDY IS SUCH A BIG OLE UNREALIABLE NARRATOR. HOMIE THATS NOT WHAT HAPPENED) (trigger warning: death)

It’s not that Cloud’s devoid of feelings of guilt and empathy - she’s just not the type of person to show it when others are around, because she fears that showing weakness means people will take advantage of her. But the onset of guilt she feels whenever she sees her brother's ghost around is stronger than even the feelings of anger she gets a headache from when she thinks about the fact that someone took him from her so suddenly.

Observe & Thud — In the Dark (MARTA MY BB MY DAUGHTER MY ANGEL)

The thud of her own heart beating causes Marta’s dark brown eyes to widen as a lab worker in a long black lab coat pushes her out of the building and tells her to run as far as she can. Curly brown hair covers her face when she holds her hand against her chest and tilts her head forward.

Yet, when she regains focus and though Marta does not recall what the word ‘run’ even means, or even that she’s supposed to use her legs to ‘run’, the young woman repeats those words to herself before putting one bare foot in front of the other and running in the heat of the planet’s desert to wherever her body will take her. 

To many this would be more terrifying than the sound and feeling of their own heartbeat, but to Marta, even without much of her own memory to recall, she sees this as her only way out. She observes her feet as she moves, unable to hide since there’s nowhere to hide.

First thought: Eliza as a lapdog

Eliza is assigned as princess darling's literal guard dog. She's good at her job, if a little enthusiastic to rip someone's throat out. Princess darling probably gets off on the power trip of having a rabid murder machine obey her every whim, maybe she even keeps her on a nice little leash and lets her be her footstool. This probably goes on and on, with princess darling slowly catching feelings for Eliza, leading to a classic 💫Secret affair💫

Second thought: Runa. It's always Runa.

Then for Runa I can totally see her planning on killing princess darling, some stuck up snobby rich chick seems like a perfect victim. Until she sneaks into her house and realises "oh shit, she's my soulmate" and now she has to hide in the closet when princess darling comes home and gets into bed. Who knows what Runa will do then

I love it, Runa keeps getting confused as she looks at pictures of her target because something in her brain keeps telling her that reader is too pretty to kill but she's like "but they're a rich brat, why can't i stop thinking about how hot their boobs look in that top." until they sneak in and realize that's why she couldn't stop thinking that.

✨ probably ‘i may not live to see our glory…’ or ‘stay alive’, both from febuwhump. i was sorta meh with how both of them turned out, and i’m not sure whether that was obvious in my writing, or if it was something else, but it wasn’t received how i wanted it to, if that makes sense?

💫 all of them, i love each and every comment i get. i love especially when someone tells me what they liked about the fic, and why they liked that, especially if it’s a really small detail i put in. i love attentive readers. but really, any comment i receive is amazing, especially as i only write oneshots, so i never expected oneshots to do as well as they do.

💥 my dearest, angelica (8 kudos) um i really like how i started this, and how i ended it? like, with angelica reading the letters, and then going into eliza reading them? and the ending with alexander dying was good.

🍭 okay i started writing when i was like, 7? i just had too much creativity, and i loved so many books, so i just started writing fanfiction. i think the first fic i ever wrote was a harry x hermione romance, which i tore out of the notebook because i hated it. now, i wish i still had it lmao. i had a massive break from writing, until i was 12 probably, and started writing again to deal with my mental health. nowadays that i’ve started posting my fics, i still write to deal with my mental health, and many of my fics have some relations to myself.
