oh, such a saucy imaginative question!! i love it. i am sorry to say I don't particularly fixate on the writers too much, though. i tend to remember the art, not the artist. so there are specific books i read and appreciated at different times in my life, for different reasons, and i got a different kind of thrill out of each of them, but I can't say i often went back to the same writer in the hopes of recreating that same feeling i previously felt while reading one of their other books. not even i am that nostalgic!!! but I'll try extra to answer your question at the best of my capabilities

taylor jenkins reid: from her i read the seven husbands of evelyn hugo (in two single sittings), malibu rising and daisy jones and the six, in that order.... and the way she handles narrative is so catchy and engaging. i can truly trust her books to capture and keep my attention till the end. + her bittersweet endings always manage to snatch a tear or two out of me

gillian flynn: LOVE the female characters she writes. i only read gone girl and sharp objects from her, to be fair, but the viciousness, murky nature and sheer commanding presence of her female characters are undeniable

mikhail bulgakov: only read his "heart of a dog" and "master and margarita" but it was enough to make this writer my absolute favourite when it comes to humor and political satire. his witty writing belonging to the subgroup of magical realism aka my favourite literary aesthetic from the xx century permanently saved him a spot in my heart

agatha christie: probably my go-to comfort writer. whenever i feel sad, overwhelmed and just wanna ignore the world for a while, I'll dive into one of her murder mysteries, knowing that i can never go wrong. from her works i have read "the murder of roger ackroyd" and "the seven dial mystery". will probably start a new one after posting this!!

then there's of course virginia woolf, elsa morante, elena ferrante, toni morrison, jean rhys, isabel allende, madeline miller, margaret atwood, george martin, catherynne m. valente ... they've all been pivotal in my coming of age years when i was trying to develop my own writing style and ideas.

but i cannot stress this enough....most of my favourite books/works/essays weren't even covered in this list because I barely singled out the writer's style or personality when i was reading their work, as i was entirely engulfed in the book itself (a foolproof sign that a book is truly good imo), and i never went back to read more stuff from that same author for one reason or the other (a few notable examples of this are "dracula" by bram stoker, "lolita" by nabokov, "cain" by jose saramago, "my dark vanessa" by kate e. russell, "house of names" by colm toiblin etc. etc.)

Unless he was willing to live in a lie... then he was much farther from the Truth than Shadow Milk thought- His train of thought was interrupted when the doors of his theater of lies swung open. " Hm?" That was... odd. Elder Faerie certainly shouldn't be alive, White Lily and co are stuck in his maze of deceit, so then who...? There you stood, looking quite peeved off if he had to say so himself. " Oh! Little Warden, how thrilling that you've come to make an appearance!" He chirped, casting his view of the maze to the side. The maze could wait, his little warden was here! " Shadow Milk Cookie!" You called out, pointing at him accusingly. " You will return to the great seal immediately! And that is an order from the Warden of the Seal!" You commanded him, don't mind the quick pov switch but it was frustrating enough that Shadow Milk escaped in the first place, and now he had the audacity to give you such a smug grin in reply? " Oh Little Warden..." Shadow Milk began, laying on his stomach as he rested his chin on the back of his hand. " It's so so so cute that you think that you can order me around like that~! I'm a free cookie now, and that means that I can do whatever I want again~!" He chirped with a flourish of his free hand, you could see the excited mania dancing in his eyes, you couldn't allow this to stand. " Okay, but you haven't actually earned your freedom at all. You just waited until the seal was weak enough so you could break out!" You retorted, which may have been the wrong thing to say judging by the way his grin dropped for a moment. He soon broke out into a maniacal cackle, seeming to have found your words hilarious. " Ehe he he ha ha hah! Sure, I may have done that, but does it really matter?" He teased, reaching out a clawed hand and picking you up by the edge of your cloak. You shrieked as you were hoisted into the air, you didn't have the protection of the seal that kept you from crumbling while in the real world, so your life was in a lot more danger here. " Ack- Put me down! Or at the very least hold me properly!" You protest as you squirm in place, you feel a shudder run through your dough as the beast before you lets out a low, rumbling chuckle.

" And why should I? You adorable little morsel~" He purrs, flipping you around in his hand so that you were laying on your back on his palm instead of dangling in the air. God fucking dammit, he was doing this again. He knows every, single, god damn weak spot of yours and by god does he abuse them frequently, mainly because they mostly relate to him. " You-!!" You protest, quickly shutting up when you feel his breath wash over you like a wave of hot air. And the way he's looking at you is already making you weak- No, you have to stay strong. " You know..." You hear him begin and fuck when did he get so close? There's a certain glint in his eyes, one that both intrigues you and makes you fear for your life. " I never really got a taste of you like I wanted to... Care to let me just have one little bite? Or maybe just a taste... either would be fine~" He teased with the low, stupidly sexy voice of his. You could already feel his lips at the tips of your little cookie feet, ready to open and swallow them whole if you let him. You could already feel your face turning cherry red, and you knew that he could see it judging by the slight excitement that made itself known in his eyes. You felt tempted to indulge him, but you also didn't want to lose your feet... But maybe he'd go back to the seal? No, he wouldn't... Would he? Or maybe he won't just go for your feet, he's teased you multiple times about gobbling you up in one bite. So if you give him this will he just... eat you? Apparently, you took too long to decide. You felt something moist and blue against your arm, a semi-satisfied hum creeping out of the beast holding you captive. " Mmn... I was right, you really are a sweet little treat. One that I can have all to myself~" Shadow Milk purred, his face looming over you as he left you to process what he'd done. You were in for a long ride, weren't you?

Why do some people think Velvette has the braincell out of the Vees? She picks fights with the other Overlords. She's childish and she thinks she's invincible. It makes me wonder exactly how soon Vox got ahold of her after she died- for lack of better words, she comes across as rather spoiled and... sheltered, I guess? I don't get the sense that she spent a lot of time down there without the backing of at least one Overlord.

I kind of… also call her the braincell of the vees tbf anon. but it's not even cause I think she's necessarily the smartest (cause I think vox is capable of being just as smart when he's not completely losing his shit over alastor) it's more like because she doesn't have anyone making her act irrationally like vox and val do with alastor and angel dust, she's like the one holding them on a leash while they lose their shits over the hotel LMAO. and idk I feel like qualities you shared here are ones shared by all of the vees, like having an overlord backing her up? makes me think back to this one anon I got. val had vox, vox had alastor, she's not really much different from them in that regard. carmilla calls ALL of the vees "inane and uninformed, smug wannabes who don't heed when [they've] been warned"

also iirc vivzie herself or one of the cast in the q&a did literally state velvette to be the brains, we do see her able to correctly deduce carmilla as the one who killed the angel based on her expressions too, so she IS smart (and she at least won the diss track in the meeting unlike SOMEONE ELSE)

I wouldn't say she's necessarily SOOOO much smarter than the other vees, I'd just say she's the one able to keep stable in terms of the hotel because of her lack of obsession present there. and generally we haven't seen her have a girlfailure moment (yet) compared to vox (stayed gone vs debut) and val (tantrum in episode 2 vs episode 4) who have ranges, say what you will about how immature she was in the overlord meeting, she still took the W in respectless with her correct deduction
