I drew two versions of these guys, because the first time they were mentioned, they were described as “squat [cats] with wing-like appendages on [their sides], clawed feet, and jet black cat’s [heads].” I couldn’t find any mention of where the “emperor” part of their name came from, so my best guess was an emperor penguin. A couple episodes later Clint mentioned the wing Emerich had fixed was a butterfly wing. I’ll admit butterflies had not been on my radar, so I looked up the emperor butterfly and the rest is history.

Plot summary:

La Muerte, Xibalba and the Candlemaker, as most respected teachers in Hexside, have their favorite students: Manolo, Joaquim and Maria.Seeing potential in kids,they decided to take care of them,each in their own way:Catrina helped Manolo with bard magic,teaching him how to put all his emotions into music,so that he would “play from his heart”;Xibalba,despite not having abomination magic,trained Joaquins fast reaction in combat-after all,his abilities are exactly what this morons coven needs; and Candlemaker just spent time with Maria,gushing over books or hiding her from General Posada in his library after two had fights about her coven choice.

These three teachers are often ranting about how their favorite pupil is better then other ones(at least Xibalba and Catrina do,while Candlemaster’s just chilling,knowing that Maria doesn’t need to be warped up into this;she’s the most talented witch without those competitions)pulling up their talents and making non-extreme wagers.But then it got out of hand because Manolo and Joaquin,hearing or at the very least knowing of their status as “chosen ones”, take their competivness more radically.Maria,also being aware of the case,takes Candlemakers stance thinking that it’s stupid; besides,why are these grown ups so obsessed with kids school scores?However Joaquin and Manolo,having not the best influences at home(Carlos Sanchez and General Poasada) take into their heads that in order to “get” Maria,they should push themselves harder.

Before the witch duel of sorts,Joaquin,being afraid of losing(fearing Generals judgement and Xibalbas disappointment) takes one of Xibalbas curses from his collection and uses it on Manolo,making him cursed much like Lilith did with Eda.Manolo would resemble the souls of killed bulls in the last sequence of original film,if not more humanoid.The poor boy,being scared and confused,runs away; Xibalba and La Muerte,realizing where this curse came from,interrogated Joaquin,who bust into tears,saying that he didn’t know that the curse will affect Manolo so badly.

Meanwhile,during her daily tasks at animal shelter, Maria stumbles upon an unusual monster, the like of which she had never seen. Trying to soothe the creature, she came to the conclusion that music has a calming effect on it. But before finally establishing a connection with her “new” friend,Carlos Sanchez bursts into the school grounds with orders from Emperor to capture the bull-like creature.With the screams of Manolo in grasp of Carlos,Maria runs to Candlemaker demanding to free this mythic animal.

Later on,when Catrina,Xibalba and Joaquin meet with Candlemaker and Maria,they embark on a journey to release Manolo,all the while Joaquin opens up about his insecurities,while Maria tells about how shes not the prize to be won.

During the raid of the Emperor's palace, the teachers, out of curiosity (mostly Candlemaker and Catrina,being history nerds) went to the main archive and found out that this whole idea about covens was nothing but a lie, a manipulative tactic to weaken the witches and help the Emperor rise to power.

After the break at Emperors palace was known,Carlos guarded the newly captured Manolo,and after a while,realized with drawing horror,that it was his son.Soon,Maria and Joaquin joined him,and after series of arguing,young Posada showed confused Carlos how to put Manolo at ease.After two parties were reunited,they fought the Coven’s guard,and the end,the Emperor himself(not Philip in this AU btw).During the battle,General Posada tried to shame Joaquin into joining him,threatening with estrangement,but Joaquin held his ground,and later on,kicks his butt with Maria(although he loses an eye during it;the wound is tended by apologizing Xibalba).Afterwards the battle,teachers inform Carlos and kids that the only way to subdue the curse effects is if someone split the burden:Joaquin agreed immediately,wanting to make Manolo’s life easier and apologize for cursing his friend.But then Carlos steps in. He knows that no matter how strong Maria and Joaquin are, these two are still children.So as a way to make amends with Manolo after all he had done to him,Carlos takes the mantle,returning his son to his witch form.

Yadda-yadda,the Emperor is no more,witches are free to use wild magic,Joaquin goes to live with Xibalba,Maria-with Candlemaker,Carlos quits beast taming and apologizes to his son as best as he could,learning the perks of living as cursed,and everything ends well with three main characters being in love.

Oh of course

So instead of having Joker as the main character, or the Fool Arcana, I've put in Yusuke, weird art boy. He interacts with everything the same way he normally would. Strangely. He stares at people and sketches things and makes little finger frames, but now he has a criminal record ooh. Honestly he got the codename Jester just because I was making a joke about he'd be funnier than Joker

Okay so. Morgana is the not-cat and he's pretty much the only non human, so you might be wondering who took his place as the Magician Arcana. And. It's Akechi Goro. I was thinking about who'd do best with putting up with Yusuke's oddities while also being hilariously done with everything and yeah I felt that would work best. In the real world he looks like a little Robin, and in the metaverse he's just. Goro. His codename being Crow still is just because I couldn't think of anything better sorry

And then it's our Chariot, taking Ryuji's place. This was an easy one for me. I am incredibly biased about this one, but will I care? No. It's Makoto. So-called delinquent student Makoto Niijima, trying to stay true to herself, while handling the feelings of being so totally alone. I chose Knight for her codename here cause. It fits. Trust me

Lovers! Now, how could I ever replace Ann as the Lovers? Easily. Like, it was quick. I chose Haru to be the Lovers here, stuck in an awful situation where she feels so trapped. Was this an excuse to push more Okujima into the world? Yes. Clearly. The codename Eros comes from Cupid, as Eros is like the Roman version I think?? Idk but yeah. Eros

Taking Yusuke's original place as the Emperor is Futaba. And before anyone asks I made Madarame lamer Bill Gates. Anyways Python comes from the coding language and because her original mask is like a frog and. Frogs make me think of snakes

Next up is the Priestess Arcana! Filling Makoto's role as group babysitter in this swap is Hifumi. "Scream she was supposed to be a phantom thief this isn't that cool" I knew that shut up. Anyways. Rook is a Shogi piece that's. Literally why I chose it

Okay and moving on to the Hermit! Originally it's Futaba but since she's busy not being socially anxious anymore I've put Ryuji in that spot. I also made him a twitch streamer. Compass? Why Compass you ask? Well first thought was Captain but then. Cap said Compass and I agreed cause then the other Thieves get to jokingly call him "Ass"

Moving right along with the Empress! It's Ann I just. Completely swapped her and Haru. Cause it works quite well actually, not gonna lie. And. Yeah Puma is just another cat you got me

Finally, it's Justice. Gama. It's Mishima I just put him there cause I hate him and I get to make him kick the bucket in this role. Also cause I thought it would be funny if the Phantom Thieves' greatest enemy was a video essay YouTuber

The Hispano-Gaels were one of the early groups to emerge from the New Tribal movement, an organization that called for the recreation of tribal groups in the wake of perceived 'aggressive atomization' of the American populace. In the case of the Hispano-Gaels, as their name suggests, advocated for the creation of a hybrid Celtic and Hispanic culture. They, and other likeminded groups across the Unites States and its neighbors, became more militant during the closing stages of the Third World War. The popularity of the NTM, and delegitimization of contemporary governments, allowed for them to form pockets of stability as society broke down.

From their base in Houston, the Hispano-Gaels rapidly expanded into east Texas, leaving friendly communities alone and subduing/expelling more hostile ones. Eventually the Hispano-Gaels would ally with protostates centered around El Paso (Neo-Apache) and San Antonio (Tejano), and conquer the Austinite Commune, ushering in the creation of the Texan Tribal Federation. One individual of note during the formation of Tribal Federation was a member of the "Puma Fianna" technical battalion, Ignacio Rotthey.

An expedition into the Deep South (at the request of potential allies) lead by Rotthey resulted in the Hispano-Gaels encounter with, and alliance with the Grand State of Virginia (a neo-corporatist state modelled after the kingdom of Prussia). This alliance would expand across the North American continent, and war with rival states in Cascadia, Chicago, and New York. Client states allied to Texas and Virginia were established in conquered territories, with a few Hispano-Gaelic enclaves created to ensure compliance in more problematic conquests. Other powers across the sea, likeminded warlords in Europe, East Asia, and South America also joined the alliance, under the goals of maintaining their ideological hegemony and Following their simultaneous victory in New York and Cascadia, the Tribal-Corporate alliance would evolve into the "League of Communities", with Rotthey named it's head of state, then Emperor.

The descendants of the Hispano-Gaels are scattered across Imperial territory, from colonies orbiting Sol to bands exploring the Extrasolar Territories. The most populous Hispano-Gael enclaves are members of Texan-descendant communities. Some enclaves remain "pure" culturally while others confederated with other tribal groups. Some offshoots of note are the Choctaw-Gaels, Indocelts, and Clan Rotthey on Jupiter's moons.

i've had fanfiction ideas burning a hole in my brain for a while but im not much of a writer so im gonna share them here

Kikimora "Redemption" Time Travel AU: during the events of King's tide a weakened Kikimora uses the Collector's disc with the portal door to time travel back to the first episode. fic would be about Kikimora joining the owl fam and getting vengance on the emperor and also becoming a better person by being around good influences (Luz). also the time travel freed Collector and they ended up in the human realm right as Vee crosses over so there's a Collector and Camila subplot goin on. also both Kikimora and Collector "replaced" their past selves when they time traveled (no time travel clones) so Collector's disc suddenly dissapears and Kikimora isn't at the castle (she appears in eda's tent out the door same time as Collector), canon divergence ensues.

Owl House x El Tigre AU (kinda crack and recently thought up lol): Luz's dad is Manny Rivera aka El Tigre; after his passing his belt is passed down to Luz, instead of summer camp she's gonna go to Miracle City to stay with her grandpa (White Pantera) (interesting Vee subplot?). haven't thought about it as a whole beyond that. also King gets Puma Loco's sombrero mech at some point.
