Since knitting was apparently trending yesterday (?), this is the baby blanket I finished while watching the 2007 BBC Persuasion. It’s for my cousin’s new baby. I still need to weave in the ends and block, but it’s basically done.
Tumblr media
The yarn is one skein Lion Brand Mandala Baby in the Neverland color way, two skeins of Bernat Softee Baby in Flannel, and two different white baby yarns that I already had because I ran out of the first one four white stripes from the end. (Technically, this was all yarn that I already had, but only because during the first wave of Covid I knew so many people who had just had babies or were expecting that I panic-bought baby yarn the first day nonessentials businesses reopened so that I’d have enough if we went back into full lockdown. I’m still working through the stash).
People who know entrelac knitting are looking at the pictures going, “How did you get it so that every row has one side triangle instead of alternating rows that have triangles on each side with rows of only rectangles?” And the answer is that I read the instructions wrong and had a wonky base triangle at the very beginning, but I hid it in the crocheted border

No one will ever know.

My big project for Season 17. This pattern is what you find when you search on “Edwardian cardigan.” It’s by Kathy Merrick, it’s nine different colours of fingering weight yarn, and it took me most of the summer.
YES I MADE A SWEATER FOR MARGARET BRACKENREID AAAAAH
(Also Arwen is one of the nicest people I’ve met. Total honour to knit for her.)

I like making hats.
I used to have to make hats because I kept losing them, but I haven't lost one for a while and they're starting to pile up. I've given some away but I still want to try more different patterns.

has entrelac ever. um. been commercially used for a fabric people purchased?
my impression of it is that it was invented in moderne tymes by a hobby knitter, became wildly popular for a couple decades (???) because it was challenging and looked mind-bendingly impressive when you brought it out at a fiber festival, and has now died off because no one has an actual entrelac fabric use case. or really wants one.

Just finished this entrelac hat. I based it off this pattern:
It was made for a child originally so I had to fiddle with scaling just a little but it was just a matter of adding a few more squares to the original pattern.
I also knitted it with Redheart Unforgettable yarn in Stained Glass, so I adjusted my needle size for gaging.

Crochet Rainbow Dreams Patterns
Crochet Rainbow Dreams Patterns Crochet Rainbow Dreams I have recently seen a few requests from people looking for patterns for a Rainbow Baby Blanket. I have a rainbow baby and I thought gathering a collection of Rainbow Patterns is a great way to celebrate all Rainbow Babies everywhere. Today we celebrate our little rainbow babies and envelop them in all the colours of our love. They are loved…

I can see from some of your posts you do entrelac on knitting looms. I have looked everywhere but have been unable to find directions or better yet, a video tutorial for doing it on a round loom. Like if you were making a hat. If you have any sources, even something I would need to purchase, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Unfortunately, the only video tutorials I know of are by Kimberly Carrigan (and me for casting off) on YouTube, and those demos are only for flat loom knitting. I do keep getting posts showing up from Pinterest about regular knit entrelac for hats, and I'm aware from GoodKnitKisses that translating a knit pattern to a loom isn't all that difficult (you pretty much have to just take each wrong side row and swap the stitch with its opposite since looms don't have wrong sides while we work).
I wish I could help more, but honestly, I don't know beyond what I've just shared. I have used round looms for entrelac, but each time, it's still been for flat panel work.
