my one season 4 complaint is Where The Fuck Was Aneesa

#never have i ever #i really wish her and fabiola had stayed together them not working out didn't rlly serve any purpose to the plot for the new season #fabiola's new relationship was barely rlaborated upon. as expected. #and aneesa was basically written out she was barely even part of the group #plus that scene of them at the staircase talking about fab's robotics team. they still have so much chemistry and they were literally just #talking about robotics #i understand she's not a major character and she can't have a separate plotline to herself but she wasn't even involved in anyone else's #her and fabiola were cute together and she would've at least been part of the plot if they were still dating #allison was barely a character what was the point of writing some random new partner for fabiola when she already had a perfectly good #love interest #it just doesn't make sense to me. whi decided it would be a good idea for them to break up #was it just an opportunity to shove in a nonbinary character who had no personality and was just there as someone's s/o and call it #representation #cause there are Many better ways to have nonbinary rep than this #but ofc mindy kaling wouldn't give a shit about this. #n e ways for this support my nonbinary aneesa hc . it's real. #fabiola torres #aneesa qureshi #OR AT THE VERY LEAST SHE SHOULD'VE GOTTEN WITH PAXTON. The people who are genuinely angry that Devi didn't end up with Des or Ethan like one of them didn't throw her under the bus for his trifling mother who dismissed her trauma and the other isn't a literal criminal who could have landed her on academic probation only see Devi as a placeholder for their hot boy fantasies.

You don't see her as her own person with her own set of quirks and principles that she spent learning and unlearning over 4 years. You don't see her friendship and eventual romance with the one she ended up with as something desirable because it's not something YOU desire. You don't care that it's something that works for Devi because you don't care that she's not you. She's not self-insert y/n with her messy bun of the early 2010s and it irks you that she ended up with someone as equally flawed and intelligent she grew to love and who loved her just as much because Ben isn't your typical swoon worthy love interest boy band member either.

He's a real person and everyone pulling out the activism card of "she ended up with the white boy!!!!" can't seem to accept that.

Alright, this is probably gonna be an unpopular opinion, but why the hell did they bring Paxton back for season 4? I feel like his s3 ending, giving his speech at graduation and going off to college, was a great send off, and I know that he's the fan favorite and they had to milk that love triangle until the last possible moment but s4 does such a disservice to his character. No matter how nicely NHIE tries to dress it up Paxton is absolutely the loser who peaked in high school now, and it really didn't have to be like that? Since he and Devi weren't working out anyway, why not let him guest-star in a couple episodes where we see him get past his college struggles instead of putting him in this weird place of being the dude who can't hack it in the real world and spends his time partying with his students while being a member of the faculty at his old high school. That's like, s1 Paxton's fate.
