A love letter to the facial animations... And Solas's design.

I just love that first encounter with Solas, and how telling it is if you really pay attention.

We all remember how giddy he is, perhaps he even has a playful nature to some. He seems utterly delighted that you're there (of course he is - you're going to fix all his problems).

Knowing Solas, he always came across as someone who is very bad at hiding his true feelings about things (he can't help but declare everything/point out how clever he is/how wrong everyone else is) - he's an awful liar. He's quick to correct himself, but not quick enough to not let you know exactly how he feels about something.

Looking at in in more depth with hindsight of who he is and what's really going on, it's just that extra layer of ohhhh that's interesting. Praise to the creatives involved in the storyboards/animation/facial expressions, because hot damn it's beautiful to look at.

So let's go frame by frame like manaics. (yes, it's because I'm writing fanfiction and wanted more insight into his thoughts/character)

The first closeup we get of him is this;

I would suggest he's just unhappy with you (I believe I mentioned in another post that Solas throughout the game has a sort of grudge against you for being the cause of all this - besides himself + Coryphidkfdfsdfus), but given the situation, I don't blame him for being on piss-mode.

But just... The way he stares at Inky just hits so hard. Imagine this guy you don't know grabs your arm and gives you this stare - it'd scare me more than the demons XD

That, and the fact that when he does the thing, he looks at you

It just- whether it's my writer/artist heart or just my solavellan heart hitting me with this idk. Just nnnf how come I never noticed this.

And the first rift is sealed, and Inky stares at him all like O.o "What did you do?" And he responds "I did nothing. The credit is yours." But there's this second/half second pause of interesting aniimation from Solas that I think deserves attention/applause.

Here's his immediate response to "What did you do?";

He's staring at the mark - with such intensity - before his brain catches up to 'oh right, respond solas respond'

And as soon as he makes eye-contact with Inky, it turns to this;

The difference in these expressions hits me right in the vhenan. I really want to congratulate the animators for this, because holy crap that's a lot of information about a character and their mindstate in the space of a couple seconds - pretty much a 'blind and you'll miss it'.

And then the rest of the scene, he pretty much has the same head tilted to the side, vague smile on his face, 'I'm just going to twiddle my fingers in front of me' look happening - and it kills me.

(Also it's slaying me that Solas is leaning down as if he's speaking to a child)

All humble and appeasing, until you look away.

I particularly love this next part, where Varric tells you Solas kept you from dying in your sleep. And he just has this;

Like; "yes, what do you think about that?" turn to look at you, instead of any verbal confirmation.

They rest is pretty much similar. Though I just adore the contrast of his expressions when he's 'in the moment' and then 'in character' - it's so goddamn telling from the very beginning.

I would kill to install flycam - if anyone can give me details on how to install a flycam for Inquisition (I've tried before, but any links I get taken to have dead sites/pages)

And I just want to share a happy egg.

I now have flycam installed and it works, however- controller isn't an option and i don't have a numpad on my keyboard XD gonna have to dig out an old keyboard!

But overall the software works and i've been able to use it! Success!

Hey, I'm a big sucker for DBD imagines and posts and you're one of the top three I like.

Is it ok if I can have some imagines of Caleb, Kazan, and Trickster reacting to an s/o who LOUDLY curses in their native tongue (Like Caleb = Irish S/O, Kazan = Japenese S/O) and they let it out during a trial with them, shocking even the crows.

I rage around failing gens and evading, and I always cause a scene when I do 😅. You don't have to find any accurate swear words or curses, I like to see the build up to their reactions for it XD!

The Deathslinger/Caleb Quinn reacting to his S/O cursing in Irish:

It’s a trial like any other for you. Repair generators, flee from the killer, yadda yadda.

The killer in this trial is Caleb, so you know he’s gonna go a bit easier on you, which is good because you feel distracted this trial.

It might be the map, you hate the creepy school of Silent Hill. Nothing ever seems to go right when you’re sent to this map.

To prove your point, you suddenly get very startled while sneaking up to a generator.

BANG! It’s a corpse, it just falls right out of a locker! Right in front of you, as you’re sneaking by!

You can’t help it, the words just come out.

“Nách mór an diabhal thú! Fucking manky piece of-”

“Y/N?”

The next second, you’re startled again, this time by none other than Caleb, sneaking up behind you.

“Caleb! What in the goddamn-”

Your curses are cut short when you see the confused look on Caleb’s face. 

He just stares at you, and you’re starting to wonder if he’s alright.

Then, he suddenly burst out into laughter.

He laughs and laughs, folding himself double where he stands, tears forming in his eyes.

“Yeah yeah, laugh it up. This thing scared me, alright?” you hiss, but Caleb only continues laughing as he leaves the room.

The Oni/Kazan Yamaoka reacting to his S/O cursing in Japanese:

You and Meg find each other in a trial. You decide to sneak up to a generator together, since you make a notoriously good engineer team.

The wet bamboo rustles beside you as you sit down at your silent generator, and as Meg keeps watch at first, you start working the cables.

This is easy. You know your way around generators, you’ve repaired hundreds of them by now.

Even though Kazan is the killer in this trial, you’re not nervous. He goes easy on you, and you’re not worried about Meg and her speedy legs.

Meg is still keeping watch just in case Kazan shows up, and you’re almost halfway on the generator. This is too easy, why-

BOOM!

A part of the generator explodes right in your face, and the next second all hell breaks loose.

“Kuso kurae! Motherfucker! This stupid piece of shit generator!”

You go on and on about where the generator can get lost and you don’t even notice Meg staring at you like she could kill you.

You do notice the heavy footsteps approaching, however. You go silent, just now noticing the echo from your angered voice.

Kazan looks at you, just staring from behind his mask.

Then, he grabs his sword and slowly saunters along, as if nothing had happened. You hear him mutter something to himself, then he’s gone.

The Trickster/Ji-Woon Hak reacting to his S/O cursing in Korean:

It’s just one of those days. Nothing goes right, and every possible thing fucks up.

You’re so tired of this trial, even if your Ji-Woon is the killer.

You wish this would just end already. You break every part in the generators, you can’t sneak or hide for shit apparently and on top of everything Quentin is just aimlessly staring at the wall whenever you come across him in the trial. He must be falling asleep again, stupid guy.

The cup finally spills over for you, when Ji-Woon finds you and decides to taunt you a bit.

He brandishes his knives, singing about how easy you are to catch and how useless your teammates are in this trial. It’s like a whole performance.

You sigh in anger and suddenly you shout: “Gae-sae-kki! Shut up, you idiot!”

Ji-Woon quiets down and stops in the middle of a tap dance, staring at you.

“Babe, I’m sorry, I love you”, you say. “Just, shut up! And you look stupid, dancing like that!”

A moment of silence, then Ji-Woon grins at you.

To your surprise, he leans over and kisses your cheek, then he giggles and starts walking towards Quentin, who’s now clearly asleep.

I watched the The Rookie Season 6 premiere!!

I started it last night and finished it this morning and just OAUGH it was so good :D

I expected them to not figure it out for a while but I low-key love the way they did it. Because it shows that they (the characters) aren't dumb and gives some action but still keeps a huge mystery to it. Theory wise, I keep thinking of the Dream (nightmare) Team (Elijah and Oscar) but it's been like a half season so I don't think it's time to bring them back yet. Idk tho, we'll see what happens!

Also Lucy is going through it xD like genuinely she is and :(( but everyone (even Wesley xD) knowing about the clown thing was just HILARIOUS lol

Also after Tim said "maybe she just had a fight with her girlfriend" I was like "oh cool we're casually using a gay example- he's talking about him" soo as I said at the time, diversity win! The random person you're projecting your problems onto is a lesbian through you <3.

Anyway xD lowkey, I get both their sides, but I'm lowkey on Tim's lol. I do get being stressed out and just wanting support though, totally, I just think Lucy's going to realize she needs to talk it out with him

Also I'm glad for their development! I'm also kind of glad Tim's not the "instigator" (there's not really one but yk) of the fight since he's been the "mean one" a lot lol. Anyway I hope my babeys work it out (soon - I figure they will eventually) :((

Also poor Harper :(( I know she'll get through it but it just sucks. And it sucks that she can't talk to James about it (like not legally but emotionally lol), though I do like that they have differing opinions on stuff. It's nice to have couples that don't have all the same views, you know?

Anyway!! I didn't mention them but Celina and Gray are slaying as always <3. And for Celina (and everyone)'s sake I hope we catch this guys soon (but not too soon ;) - I love me some drama)

So excited for this season!! Especially the 100th episode, it's so great that they get one :D. I think both of those are gonna be really good and I'm just so looking forward to it :D!! New X-Men '97 tomorrow! I am very excited! But I also had meant to make more posts reviewing the first three episodes. It was going to be multiple posts over different topics, but I am short on time and organizational energy, so I am just gonna make two posts over the biggest topics: The Romance Drama, and The Plot. Romance drama first! It got Long, so it's under a cut. xD (And a quick disclaimer that any negative opinions on the canon writing of couples doesn't mean I dislike people for shipping any of it; I almost never ship anything personally just as a matter of personal preference, but am very much a Ship And Let Ship/Don't Like Don't Read kind of person)

First, I will just say that the Jean/Scott/Logan drama was...always the most boring and confusing part to me in the 90s show? I just didn't feel like they did enough to show why Wolverine was SO in love with her when it seemed like they never spent any time together normally or had any major bonding moments? So I felt like he was just pining based on appearance and the fact they were teammates, which...is fine I guess but not the sweeping, dramatic unrequited love it was always portrayed as.

(I mean Wolverine was so torn up about them getting married he REFUSED TO ATTEND and instead spent time trying to kill an illusion version of Scott in the Danger Room, that's. Very dramatic! And for what? Maybe they covered it a little bit in an episode I haven't re-watched yet but I remember Past Me at least not finding the explanation impressive enough lollll)

So, I'm not...super looking forward to more of it in this new show, but also expecting it since it was always such a feature. I'd rather not have Jean kinda date Logan just because she's mad at Scott and Logan wants to? But it won't shock me. By and large I have made peace with my dislike for that particular love triangle since I'm otherwise such a fan of both series. (And so far anyways Logan has been a little less weird about his unrequited feelings even if they're still pretty obvious)

THEN we have the Rogue and Magneto romance. This one I have had more mixed feelings on. My kneejerk reaction was confusion and dislike - I didn't know until I looked it up after the episode that they were together in the comics, and since they weren't in the previous show, it felt...really random. (Also I am just not much a fan of couples with large age gaps, obviously Rogue is an adult and can do what she wants, it's just not my cup of tea. Plus Rogue and Gambit is one of maybe, like...five? Couples in media? That I have any investment in AS a romantic couple lol, but mostly I was just not looking forward to more romantic drama in general since it's just not something I tend to enjoy much)

Now I have two opinions. One is simply that I am Over feeling bothered by it and just curious to see what they do with it, since Rogue and Magneto do have some compelling thematic reasons to have scenes together anyways. And Rogue and Gambit definitely COULD have a mature conversation about it, which would actually be pretty neat.

Now my main quibble is that it was introduced so suddenly, and with so little explanation. As a general rule, I do NOT consider 'it happened in the source material' to be a valid excuse for anything in an adaptation unless it also makes sense within the established lore/characterization/etc. of the adaptation itself. A Doylist explanation existing does not remove the need for a solid Watsonian one, and if there just...isn't a Watsonian explanation, then I feel it is lazy writing at best, actually terrible writing if done badly enough.

There's definitely still time for them to give some kind of flashback or explanation for Rogue and Magneto though! You can introduce new aspects to character's pasts, in general. So I am holding out my final opinion to see if they do that, and in what way.

On a smaller, technically still hypothetical note, next for romance drama we have: Morph crushing on Wolverine. I do agree that it's extremely possible, even likely, that Morph seeming Interested in Wolverine in this version is deliberate - I mainly say hypothetical because I have seen some VERY overtly queercoded stories/scenes/etc. be written genuinely by accident, and at this point I'm really not sure how it was intended (like, if it's meant to be anything bigger than the scene itself or not).

And once again, I have mixed feelings on it. On one hand, having an openly gay character in an X-Men cartoon is good! It's nice to see some diversity in orientation. And Morph makes sense since they are the closest to a blank slate as you can get with a pre-established character, only being in nine episodes total of the original series - very spread out ones, as well.

But well, there's two reasons I feel kind of egh about it. One is that nearly all the Established Duos that got a lot of attention in the original show were romantic ones, and as someone who is fundamentally more invested emotionally in non-romances, I really liked the thought of having a best friend duo to fixate on. (We do still have Magneto and Xavier but XAVIER IS DEAD RIGHT NOW SO IT ONLY HALF COUNTS)

The other is that it...would almost definitely be another unrequited crush. Which for one, is just drama that isn't interesting to me. But also I dunno if 'sad gay bravely accepts never getting with the love of their life' is amazing rep for...friendships OR gay people??? Like you could write it so that Morph is genuinely fine being 'just' friends, and maybe in an ideal world that would even kick Wolverine into considering he could maybe be More Normal About Jean. But I worry about their friendship falling apart or it being made out to be 'not enough' to Morph and ultimately just making everyone look bad (and also if they push too hard on the Sad Morph Angle I feel like it could just be another case of villainizing people for not returning affections which I just, REALLY HATE)

SO I'M ON EDGE ABOUT IT. Possibly they won't do much with the concept at all, which I'd frankly prefer. Possibly they'll find a way to write the one-sided romance that is actually considerate to both sides and doesn't destroy their friendship. Possibly they'll even introduce other gay couples somewhere in the show so the rep for it isn't all riding on Morph's shoulders! But I am also very aware how easy it would be to do this wrong. SO WE'LL SEE.

anyways i was so fucking sad when that happened. bc aizetsu's face looked so defeated. but with genya being a demon or whatever the fuck he got going on- like bro. bro was on DEMON TIME. literally.

he looked like genos from one punch man when i saw his eyes. then the black and yellow hair reminded me of shadow the hedgehog. idk thats just what i thought when i saw genya.

i havent read the manga so idk what happens after, but i hope genya is like nezuko and doesn't hurt tanjiro in the next episode. the only way that's gonna happen is plot armor. which is basically saving their asses atp. bc if they're fighting an upper moon 4 ALONE. WITHOUT THE HELP OF A HASHIRA- then yeah plot armor is gonna weasel her ass in and save them.

like imagine if you were a kanoe like tanjiro fighting an upper moon 4, who has four fucking counterparts (i know there's five or six BUT FOR RIGHT NOW THERE IS FOUR) you'd be dead. period.

besides from all of this let's get to my girl mitsuri coming through and saving them swordsmiths at the village. like omg when she started slicing these demon hoes i was like "that's my bitch!" i got a laugh in when tecchin and the other swordsmith were "fighting" over mitsuri caring over them. tbh i would too. so i aint gon blame em.

i did not know her sword could do that though with the whole flexibility like thing. i was thinking that obanai could do a flexible sword since he's a serpent hashira and he carries a snake around with him. but idk idk i didn't make the characters just my opinion.

i cant wait to see the next episode of demon slayer. i got spoilers from the manga and i know that the quadruplets are gonna combine and form into zohakuten. sad to see them go.

I don't know, maybe we have mystical methods of communication but then we'll still be left trying to offer navigational advice like "I think I took a left at a rock?"

Sometimes games let you pick a character to play and then quickly sideline the other for the duration of the plot. Resident Evil comes immediately to mind. I'm sure Sea of Stars has no intention of doing that but it would kill me if the non-selected character just ended up lost in the wilderness for the duration of the game. XD

OH SURE, you take the easy flatland and leave me with the path that requires climbing up a ledge.

We weren't looking for the way to the top. We were looking for that campsite next to you. But sure, Zale's easy route not only takes him to the campsite I was trying to get to, but also to those delicious looking berries over there and also the way to our ultimate destination for good measure! Because life isn't fucking fair..

You know what, I take it back. This route isn't nearly as easy as it looked from a distance. Alright, Zale, I won't put a thumbtack in your sleeping bag.

The moral of the story is that assumptions make an ass out of u and mptions.

But I had to climb both sets of rocks so you're cooking tonight.

Credit where it's due, the writing for these two characters is strong. I don't know if they're supposed to be siblings or lovers or platonic besties or what. What I do know is, you can feel the history in their relationship. These two characters have been supporting each other with love and friendship for a long time.

The dialogue in Sea of Stars is already doing a great job of sounding organic. Valere and Zale don't stop to explain things because. Like. Why would they? They both already know what they're talking about. Instead, they convey hints of information through casual chatter and trust the audience to be smart enough to understand what they mean.

And painting in intrigue. Valere has regrets about a third person who should be here and isn't. Oooo, mysterious. I wonder what happened to--

Oh, I guess we're going to find out right now. Kinda thought they'd drag that out longer.

Ok, ok, I'm gonna set aside that chapter ending for a bit so that I'm able to talk about the parts before it even though it has me in a very tight grip right now fdkhjgkjh

Just hrrrrrrrrr, so many thoughts where to even start!!! AHHHHH

Ok first of all, the first night! We get to see the perspective of the boys! They really were just about to go for a random human huh? Which I mean makes sense, but that would have been so very absolutely bad because while in the other hunter's case they could have claimed self-defense (very loosely as one, in the position of the hunter, could argue they didn't have to go that far), in this case would have literally just been, well, murder. From a demonic perspective it was perfectly reasonable of course! They DID seek out any animal prey first, and finding none, it was their one option left. But from a human perspective? Literally no different than any of the other monsters y/n has been hunting to protect innocent people. Little Reid will never know how his presence actually saved the people travelling with him.

And omg the kid! The sacred rules intrigue me more and more! The knowledge that he was in danger and lost was enough to make their growing hunger almost completely ignorable. As long as they hadn't found him they focused so intently on him and nothing else. Of course, the hunger was bad enough that they were still constantly aware of it, but it amazes me, because we see that later in the chapter they even fear being tempted by y/n's heart.

But ahhh, ok, getting back on track before I jump too much around, oof! That next morning was rough. Y/n already struggles so badly with their own self doubt, and obviously the one course of action the boys could take to not be discovered (or delay the hurt that came the next night anyway), was to latch onto that and make y/n belief they were tricking themselves which oof, oof, oof. I love the boys but yikes they do deserve to feel guilty for that one, because they at the same time made y/n feel guilty for doubting them.

AND then the next night! Oh boy, oh boy! I was actually wondering if the rake had no heartbeat, which I think this confirmed it doesn't, with Sun and Moon actively scanning for it. The night before they would not have noticed out of being too busy with Reid, (since they also didn't notice y/n's own when it spiked in fear), but this one? When filled with rage and scared that they could have returned to a corpse, and HUNGRY? I don't think they would have missed it, so I'm guessing it's kind of like the vampires that have it but it doesn't beat. Or it does but it produces no sound? Oh and Naff! The foreshadowing with the bear traps was so clever! When they were mentioned again I didn't think of it much, but then I was like "huh funny that they've come up ag- WAIT A MINUTE, COULD IT BE?" And then it was!! Ahhh!! I like how once again we can see how smart and capable the hunter is. They are sick and very weak, but learned quickly from the last night and knew not to look at those eyes. They got a hit in, tried to get to the salt (which not a bad idea! and I have a feeling it will come up again too hehe), and then they manged to make a plan on the spot to lure the rake into the bear traps! Clever heart, indeed!

And then! What a brutal death for that cryptid! Honestly, all the others should be grateful (well, except doppleganger XD) that it was the hunter getting to them, because Sun and Moon do not hold back, especially knowing how close this one was to killing them. And gosh, y/n got to see every detail in that killing. They were horrified even when the thing was about to kill them. The glimpse at the demonic cryptid and now knowing it's the same one they thought they saw before? I can see a great deal of paranoia in the future days, which only combines now with what's happening with Sun and Moon.

(Sidenote: "Eclipses the gray fog" hehe, I see what you did there~ )

The relief of them being safe was so brief, because that following conversation was going to be hard yes or yes. Gosh, just, the plead for them to not be scared? Killed me. Instantly. They know they were seen. They know this fear, when everything is safe, is due to them. And now there is no hunger to distract from that little fact. And then the hurt, the disappointment. All around.

They were caught in a lie. As much as it was not a verbal lie, the insinuation that they didn't leave was clear as day. The making them believe that they were being ridiculous was clear as day. And they might be too sick to reflect on that now, but oof, it's right there for them to see. And it's a valid thing for y/n to push! The care has always been clearly mutual, but not the trust. From their perspective they have bared themselves to the boys, letting them in in so many ways, so from their perspective they are being shut out. And now they inevitably think it's because of something about them. Not proving themselves as trustworthy, and now Sun and Moon assuring it's not the case, and then immediately not providing a better explanation, while just having been caught tricking them will not be very credible.

And now y/n is afraid. Afraid their love for the boys is more one-sided than they thought, because even when asking if they won't ever leave (meaning for good), the boys can't promise they won't (because they might have to leave briefly again), and it hurts them so badly, it hurts them they aren't apparently trustworthy in the boys eyes and it's enough to not want them at their side through the night even when their presence has helped them emotionally and through the fever! And the boys can do nothing to reassure them, because it's either straining their relationship, or potentially losing them forever.

And hhhhh, when they ask if y/n wants them to leave! And they say no, but with how exact words are for them, the addition of there being something dangerous out there might imply to them the answer would be yes if not for the hypothetical threat! And that must hurt a lot too! And they are feeling rejected, and the last nights they couldn't allow themselves to be nearby and now that there is no pressing issue that would make them leave, they aren't welcome to be close and ahhhhh

My last thought is that now y/n is sad, and sick and will likely have night terrors for a good while, having felt the terror of a demonic so nearby again, thinking themselves so surely dead, but now the boys will be unwelcomed to help, at least these first few nights I think D:

Today on P3R, a long update: Another full moon, KIDS IN THE WALLS!, actual consequences for shit teachers, and new abilities!

It is interesting to see that the number of Lost standing around increases over the leadup to the full moon. And other people are noticing.

We haven’t been able to talk to Fuuka yet, either, even though she supposedly has potential.

A girl passed out at the front gate of the school, and now rumors are running rampant because people think it’s a ghost. Junpei has the details, so, over to you, Junpei!

After a riveting story, Yukari refuses to believe it’s a ghost, so she wants to spend the week collecting information. Ughhhhhhhhh. Yukari, I have social links to do. Please. Don’t do this to me.

I’m already getting woken up at ungodly hours when we’re not even in Tartarus.

Another school day, and I guess we should finally go hang out with Kenji. He says he only needs a few minutes of my time.

So, after combining what we know about all the various ghost stories, we’ve determined that all three girls who ended up in the hospital were friends. They also all hung out in that sketchy alley behind Port Island Station, where the bar and stuff are.

Yukari wants to go back there and investigate. Junpei is less than thrilled. He keeps insisting it’s a bad idea. I’m inclined to agree.

Yukari says she’s more afraid of stuff she can’t see. Junpei counters that he’s more afraid of things he can see. Like knives. And bats. But Yukari doesn’t listen, and just says that if it’s so “dangerous”, all the better that all three of us go.

Yukari, I’m gonna miss Featherman while you’re busy getting us killed.

Things immediately go bad, as they immediately peg us for Gekkoukan students and tell us to leave. Junpei wants to leave, and Yukari immediately says the wrong thing.

Like, how do you not have the situational awareness to know that that’s the worst possible thing you could have said? Thank goodness Shinji is around to save our asses.

Though, Yukari still doesn’t want to leave without information. Shinji tells her that the three girls spent their time bragging about bullying Fuuka Yamagishi, who has been out of school for almost a week at this point. Which means our next step, after getting home safe, is to ask her teachers what happened to her.

...Junpei has a point, Yukari. My god. You can’t yell at Junpei for running off on the monorail and then just charge into a sketchy area with no weapons or plan. Ugh. Over the weekend, I need a break. I found a wild Ken hanging out at the shrine on Sunday with Yukari and Junpei. Apparently they know him. But I am spending the day playing more of my MMO.

School on Monday is great, though, because people are finally grasping that their actions have consequences!

Fuuka is trapped in Tartarus because of her idiot “friends”. And her teacher has been covering it up.

It’s been ten days since Fuuka vanished. Normally, spending that long in Tartarus, someone would definitely be dead. But since Tartarus only exists in the Dark Hour, Fuuka’s only been gone ten hours, from her perspective. So we have the chance to go in and get her back. Minato, Akihiko, and Junpei are going to wait in the gym for the hour to change, and hope that we end up near where Fuuka is.

Natsuki is going to stay in the dorm, where she’ll be safe. But she’s… apparently awake during the Dark Hour without exploding?

We probably should have brought her, because she’s on her way here. And letting the school shift around us ended up with all of us separated.

I really wish I wasn’t, babe.

Pharos says we’re going to need Fuuka’s power to deal with what’s ahead. And then heads off again, because god forbid he come with me to find the others. XDDD But eventually, Minato manages to track down both Akihiko and Junpei, and Fuuka.

She’s understandably freaked out. But she’s got navi powers that have kept her safe, and they’re stronger than Mitsuru’s. Akihiko’s not making a strong case for getting her on our side, though, just handing over an evoker with no explanation.

Together, we all manage to puzzle out that these big giant shadows are showing up on the full moons, but we don’t really have time for more than the actual revelation, because it’s full moon right now, and Mitsuru and Yukari are in trouble in the lobby.

Fuuka awakens her persona to protect both us and Natsuki, who wandered into Tartarus, and with it the ability to scan for weaknesses. Which is good, because the Emperor and Empress keep switching affinities. Plus, Lucia is cool. ^_^

Anyway, Natsuki isn’t going to remember any of this, fortunately, and Fuuka is safe. So we can go back to our usual days at school.

...I… hm. Well, it didn’t kill me, and I got a point of courage, but it didn’t seem to do anything else. So. Okay. X’D

The history teacher blitzed past two more periods of history in his quest to reach the Sengoku period so he can talk about samurai. Yuko’s got past beef with a girl who I think has Makoto’s voice actress. Apparently they dated the same guy in middle school, and Yuko got blamed even though it was the guy who was two-timing them.

Apparently I just have a face that says, “Tell me your deepest secrets.” This is like the fourth person.

All of my friends text like freaks. Except Akihiko.

I was having a half-decent time with the Gourmet King. Kind of. But then he had to get all weird on me, because he was jealous that some girl asking him who I was instead of asking him out. This guy, like everyone else, has problems. And part of it is that he’s covering up his problems with food.

We’re all fancy now, and apparently the shoulder guards unlock a new skill called “theurgy”. Which is our individual special attacks! We took a special trip into Tartarus for a scripted thing to try them out, and I only got to see Yukari’s, but it was super-cool. She did the archery pose like Feather Pink. ^_^

And we all got to do the badass walk into Tartarus in our new gear.

Lastly, at the end of this long marathon play session……

God and this is such a good debut to Edge's pride. And omg I love Bright already, she's so childish it's honestly kinda cute even if it's to the point of immaturity. I had such a different image of her before this but now... now she seems like she'll be a fun character to see play out in the comic and is so fricking precious. I need more of her now. I wanna see how bad she can be too. Edge, while he did horrible things, does present a good case to Hope. Despite her experiences with her father and mother, she wants a pride, like many lions do, and he was able to lean into that.

And yea drawing him smiling and fatherlike was difficult, especially because I wanted to make him more vain with his expressions /but that wouldn't work/ because he's being completely honest here LOL He's not trying to trick Hope. He means what he's saying, and a villain that keeps their promises is pretty scary in my opinion. I wish I could've had Vanish and co do more, but they'll be doing more next time.

hello season 2 i am in Pain

project 4

to start this off. you all must know that i loath granny squares. i think theyre Fine to make as a boredom time killer! theyre fairly easy to work up! but making Pieces. Making Whole Ass Projects Out Of Squares? killing myself. killing god even. killing every pattern maker and every urge in me to Make the thing.

i hate this bag with a passion. i like it because the mushrooms are cute! its made entirely of scrap yarn that couldnt be used in other projects but a granny square project was perfect! the entire point of this bag is to put in every piece i make, that i keep, while watching ordem into this! it shall serve its purpose well. but i hate it. i hate this thing so much.

this wretched thing took about 14 hours? i started it 2 hours into season 2. i finished this bag with about 10 minutes to spare on episode 4. this is a 14 hour bag and i hate my life with a passion but its okay because i made something to hold things i like more LMAO.

i am though very proud of it working out colorwise as well as it did since its made of all scrap yarn. the handle doesnt work as Well as i was hoping but i think it still pulls all the blues nicely for the most part. and again its just a think to hold projects for the moment unless i end up gifting it. for not proper planning i Do like it even if i kinda hate it xD

dude luis can not catch a break like i Know both deaths of his so far have been purposeful by his own hand. but like what the fuck dude, he can not have a character that lives to see episode 4 huh. i like the big weird spider ngl i hope we get a fucked up brocket or a fucked up bear with whatever the fuck is going on in the forest. m kinda neutral on arthur right now but i know he'll grow on me as we get more episodes in, god m gonna miss cris and esp what growth we coulda had between cris and cesar but i know its probably gonna kick off a wonderful cesar arc. assuming he survives to see said arc.

still big fan of joui, in love with the entire conversation between joui and liz surrounding The Stairs Incident hes soooooo. that fucking conversation took me out. i cant wait to see what happens next and who the next casualty is because i knew getting into it, but esp now that this is a no holds series, you will just die and have to learn how to keep going. since i dont check the wiki m really interested to see if luis comes back in the next? 12 episodes i think are left? with a new character or if hes just gone from the season and i gotta wait for season 3 to see him again.

Hi! :D Ok, so where to start? Man, it really hurts to see Robin so disillusioned with it all. Of course they show no interest in the new neighbors and now their job feels more like a drag rather than the thing that brought them a sense of fulfillment. Though I smiled at them being so critical of the security over in Eclipse's sector haha, even if they're not giving it their all, they still are very much a professional at what they do and it shows.

The fact that they also become quickly endeared to Eclipse is very cute, and very understandable because he's so earnest, even if it exasperates them that he basically easily revealed his identity, the one thing that when they found out about their other coworkers sent them into a worse spiral. But also that earnestness is what managed to break at that tough front that was harming them as they struggled to keep it up. And he relates so easily to them to, and Robin can't help it that he looks right through them! Because he can see so much of his own hurt in them now. It makes sense that he wants to help fix it, even if he himself hasn't found how to fix the communication problem the three brothers have.

In a way I wonder if he did something similar to Robin, in the sense that he latched himself to Robin's hurt to try and make it better, just how Robin latched onto Eclipse's situation to feel the anger they want to feel for themselves but feel like they don't deserve to (because by now they've convinced themselves they weren't that important to Sun and Moon, assuming they had mistaken it as the animatronics caring more than they did). Not to say that they didn't feel for the other genuinely of course! Just that it's easier trying to solve someone else's problems than facing your own sometimes. I do like how Eclipse is the first one who doesn't let Robin convince themself that they hate them. No need to try to worsen the hurt, even if the statement is turned back on him immediately.

It's funny that something did blow up, though it wasn't an experiment XD (sidenote: I hope Robin does get to blow up stuff with Eclipse eventually haha) "I would've left me, too!" though? Ouch. I know Sun didn't have time to process that, but I hope he and Moon can address that later. Clearly a glimpse into one of their worst insecurities that they guard so closely. (other sidenote: Eclipse was like, haha, brother gonna get told off, and then realized oh crap brother might get actually threatened her kjhkjhkñh)

But also Sun is clearly not too capable to paying attention to that right now, so affected he even raised his voice to the person he only knew as his dear friend and landlord.

Though Eclipse saves the day once again with the groupchat of friendship! They're all obviously exhausted by everything, so having the chat as a tentative window where they don't need to be that exposed and just say what they want to say at their own pace is smart. After all, you can't take back words you said, but you can rewrite a message until you are satisfied with it.

And also, the funniest hing to me in this chapter is the agency. They really were like: Robin you might get fired if you don't improve. >:(

Robin: Aight, peace.

The agency: N-no wait, I didn't mean it, come back please :'(

But overall the hopeful ending was really relieving! You always manage that feeling of being able to breathe again after a tough one! Great writing as always!

Robin: Fuck the agency I don't care anymore Also Robin: Smh the security here is lacking, how dare? They are just kinda going through the motions for a while there, only focused on how they lost their friends and any pride in the job they do in one go. Truly, two birds, one stone.

Robin: I've had Eclipse for an hour and a half and if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself Eclipse: Oh we're friends now! Okay okay I will. I will try to not make a meme out of every part of your comment fghdjs Ties into your next paragraph as well - they recognize the pain of the other, and the similar coping styles, with Eclipse a couple years into pretending he's fine. They get angry on his behalf, partly because it's an infuriating position to be in, and partly because they can't get angry on their own behalf. And vice versa in Eclipse - he sees this person in a very similar situation to him, and they're devastated and it's obvious (to him). And he realizes that oh, right, he does have a reason to be sad. He's allowed to feel abandoned and to admit it sucks. Because he faked being okay so long he felt like he'd lost the right to say it did actually bother him.

Please know that if this were the main timeline I'd add many more conversations that address these issues, same as Robin's "I would've left me too". It goes unaddressed, but not unnoticed. To address it there needs to be a baseline of trust again though, so they need to focus on establishing that (That, and that the threat was on his account. Because while he obviously and knowingly relates, he didn't think that Robin might relate too, and do something about it. It's rare enough that anyone would stand up for him.)

No one's having a good time - but they all want this to work, they all miss each other, and they're finally admitting that to each other. They can't get it all out then, but they want to, because they care. It gives them a line of contact - a "flyway" to each other <3 (*Using a very, very loose definition of course)

HQ sure got used to having them try so hard to impress them! But they seek their validation elsewhere these days. They prefer having a family, in the end.

And aaahhh thank you!! The good thing had to get a lil longer to make it feel natural, but it was tons of fun to write! <3

So um. I fully didnt realise this was eunwoo until he sang in the wedding episode and i was like ok shoehorned in singing scene, this has to be an idol right? (In other words I should look at credits more often T.T) in my defense i only know like 2 astro songs lol

Time really flies when you have a lot to do. Having a job feels just like uni, weeks passing by before I know it!! At least now I'm earning money, though. My legs are absolutely killing me, though!! I suppose I'm gonna be slow with the posts, haha. But here's the moment I wanted to share for quite some time now: Hieronim and Baltazar are now teenagers!! I bought Werewolves at the end of January and got to use the new items, can you tell? 🐺

As I suspected, the twins are only half-aliens; no occult powers, just green skin and that's it. It makes sense and is unsurprising considering the game's mechanic. So, as I planned, their alien powers are active now (AKA I simply turned them into aliens XD). I also realised I haven't revealed what's happening with my boys so far personality-wise, so let me introduce you to this gen so far:

Hieronim Loves Outdoors, is a Geek, and has a knack for video games. For his disguised form he chose to rock a mullet of all hairstyles. He's old enough to wear contacts comfortably, so you won't see him in glasses anymore. He's the twin that will stay in the family house, enjoying the cottage life and even getting into herbalism.

Baltazar is Evil, Neat, and has absolutely no regards for his love life. He still wears braces but it makes him even cuter now!! He's very into singing and fashionable clothes (though his fiery jacket isn't easy on the eyes for some). He's the twin that aims higher in life, intending to either have it all or drag everyone down with him... or both. He'll be our heir.

Besides them growing up, the house keeps getting small upgrades. New furniture here and there, more collectibles decorating the place, moving around some objects to fit the space better. Stuff like that. Next time the whole family will be on vacation. Stay tuned for more wholesome moments from your favourite Owls!! (๑>◡<๑)

REVIEW

I loved this episode! I thought it was super fun :D, but it also has a bunch of drama :O. It was good drama though :). Buck's storyline was just hilarious the whole time XD, Maddie's was o.o, and Hen's was :OO!! XD And also a bit of o.o lol. And Bobby and Athena's was cute 🥰. Anyway, I loved all the storylines! I thought they were great :). Plus, the calls were interesting :D! I'm also glad they weren't too tragic lol.

Also, fair warning everything after "drama though :)" was written today - day of the next episode xd. Yes, again, I know, but that means that this will probably be shorter - I have the free time during rehearsal today, I just don't remember all the details lol. Anyway! Continuing :).

Now for the individual parts!

Chim! We didn't see too much of him, but what he did was great :D. Maddie was mostly central to their storyline, but Chimney was there too and he was great :). I love him 🥰. And I'm glad everything worked out lol xd. Also, he was great at his job :D.

Athena and Bobby! Their running thing was so cute :D. I love these idiots so much lol 🥰🥰. And they were both great at their jobs :D. I'm not sure we saw Athena, but I'm sure she was. Anyway, we didn't see them too much this episode, but they were both great :). Also the dinner scene with Madney was great :D.

Maddie! She SLAYED :D. I'm so glad they figured out what was happening with that lady. Also even if she wasn't running a scam and using them for it, it would just be weird to walk into somebody's house like that xd. Anyway, luckily they caught her >:). Maddie was amazing 🥰🥰. I love her so much :D. And, since this wasn't quite her job, I'm sure she did great at that too :).

Buck and Eddie! Buck's powers were so hilarious XD. Also the fact that, of the examples we saw, he used them almost exclusively to help Eddie and Chris xD. I'm sure it won't last, but it was hilarious lol. And the POKER SCENE XDD. Don't even get me started lol. Plus the math homework, and the bets XD. It was just fun all around :). Too bad he's been banned from poker though lol. Although maybe he can go again when he's not super good at math XD. Who knows if he'd be any good, but still lol. Anyway, he was great lol. I love him 🥰. And so was Eddie, of course. I love him :DD. And they were both great at their jobs! Also, of course: BUDDIEEEEE!!! THOSE BUDDIE MOMENTS!!!! AAHHHHH I SWEARRRR!! THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL US!!! XD Anyway, lovely <3.

Hen and Karen! OOF. This is where the real drama this episode came from xd. Maddie was dealing with that lady, but this plot was just o.o. I felt so bad for them all 😭😭. Also I'm glad that Hen's mom managed to bring them back together :DD. So glad she saw both sides 🥰. The argument(s) was/were tough (catching me over here screaming and sobbing xd), but we made it through :'). And I'm glad Denny gets to keep seeing his bio dad <33. And I am glad he's okay :). Hen finding out about it all in the hospital was crazy though xD. Also that last scene was a POWER MOVE!! Well not literally but my point is it slayed :)). The whole "our son, our rules" - idk, it just vibed :). Anyway, the emotions were real this episode 😭, but it ended up okay :). I'm sure we'll hear more about this in the future, though. Anyway, I love them :')). Hen was great at her job 🥰. And I'm sure Karen was as well lol.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode! I thought it was great :D. It had some great comedy moments, but also a bunch of drama o.o. It was a good balance! The main storylines were great 🥰, and the calls were cool too :))! I'm a bit nervous for next time o.o - it looks crazy lol. I am curious about the personal plotlines though - if I remember correctly we really only saw calls! Huh, interesting :D. But it appears to be the return of Ravi! I think I've heard that, but when I looked up the episodes I think I remember seeing him in the picture :). So, YAYY!!! Hopefully he is back :D. Anyway! This episode was great :). I'm glad everything worked out for the most part! Though I must say I'm curious to know how long Buck's math power will last xD. And of course, BUDDIEEEE!!! Always a win :D xD.

So yeah! I loved this episode, I thought it was great. I'm a bit nervous for next time! This has been my review of. . .

finally read the second volume of radiant black lol

it was 🤔 interesting

(spoilers for both book 1 and 2 obviously so don’t read if you don’t want spoilers)

not sure what exactly i think, which, tbh, seems to be my usual take on the series. it’s always like either “idk how i feel about this” or else “whoa this fucking rules?” LOL constantly wildly vacillating between one end and the other

i thought it was a little confusing at times but i might just be easily confused. The emotional stuff was good though, they seem to have a good handle on that... and the art direction fucking whips obviously, all the truth in existence stuff was extremely cool

also, mechs?!

i definitely get what they’re going for with the non-linear aspect of the storytelling but i did find it slightly unclear at times what exactly was happening because of it. not like, detrimentally so, but there was a lot of me going “oh, i see” like ten pages after the fact because of the layout, and like i said, idk if that’s a me problem or a clarity issue

anyway i also like that there seems to be a thing where they do the origin for each member of the team at the end of the book, since they did red at the end of book one and now pink in book two, so i assume yellow will have more about his origin (aside from where it intersected with pink’s) in the next volume (he can see the what?? the future?? hello??)

not sure about having nathan recover from the coma LOL i feel like, when i read the first book especially i was like, COMMIT!!! commit!!!!! don’t walk it back! kill him off! (bloodthirsty XD) but on the other hand i did really like marshall’s  journey of truth and how that led into his self-reflection about his  (uh oh relatable) insecurities and feelings of failure, as well as the way he loves nathan but he hates him but really he hates himself for not doing anything with his life, and i think his journey to bring nathan back made sense as something he would do and didn’t feel too forced or like it was “walking back” the story or anything, so like... i was actually more into that in this book than in the first book where it felt a little like it was just not ready to commit to something that serious.... though i DO think sometimes the book does struggle with balancing the serious and the humor (same) it still worked overall

that being said, i did find it kind of frustrating the way everyone was super hard on marshall after he came back after disappearing, cause it wasn’t like he was just flaky.... like, he went to see nathan every single day for at least an hour the entire time nathan was in a coma, spent so much time talking to him and being there for him, but that just... didn’t matter apparently.

even knowing that the other characters don’t know why or how he disappeared for six weeks it feels... overly harsh. like obviously he was in a bad place when he ran out (before his big ghost journey of the self) ... he was obviously freaking out, he disappeared completely for almost two months after spending all this time with nathan, and... everyone is pissed when he comes back, as if he did some horrible thing....?? like, was no one worried about him? did no one think, “huh he lost it because he was unable to accept that his best and only friend in the world was gonna die, maybe we should make sure he didn’t jump off a bridge” or something?????

literally his boss implied they thought he might have overdosed and no one cared? i mean obviously his boss is his boss and he’s just an employee who left a bunch of trash and his dog in the video store (bro???) but for everyone else, idk man i find it hard to see where nathan’s parents and ex are coming from here, when they saw how much time and effort he spent to be with nathan. it feels disproportionate to what happened even if they aren’t in the know wrt the timeskip and existence shit. it would have made more sense to me, personally, if they just didn’t care that he was gone because they were busy helping nathan with PT and shit, vs being actively judgmental and angry with him when he returned. like... idk!!! it rubbed me the wrong way!! lmao this boy did all this shit out of the love of his heart and the only thing you can see is that he couldn’t handle losing his best friend, and that makes him a bad person somehow?

the only aspect of it that fits for me is nathan himself being like bro where tf did you go after all that???? cause like he actually saw marshall, metaphysically, so it would make sense to be confused that he didn’t come to see him when he put that much work into bringing him back (until the temporal shift was explained obvs)

like MAYBE i’m misunderstanding the time shit but i don’t think i am? like, they  didn’t travel back in time and undo everything, all that stuff like him going to visit nathan every day still happened from what i gather... right? like it sounds like nathan came out of the coma while they were taking him off of life support, and it’s just that marshall didn’t get shot back into the real world until 6 weeks later.... Like okay to them it would seem like he ran out of the hospital all crazy with grief and didn’t come back... but that still doesn’t feel like an “angry” kind of thing. but i guess they already kinda disapprove of him anyway so who knows

ANYWAY

but on the flip side i do like what they did with satomi and marshall because like of COURSE marshall was not going to understand, was not going to just be fine with her, so his anger actually does feel very justifiable but of course as the reader you know why she did what she did and that she didn’t want to actually hurt anyone, let alone potentially kill someone... Which is like, i guess maybe it really is for the better that they didn’t commit to nathan dying cause like..... lol that would create some friction... but at the same time.. i mean... friction is the core of storytelling and also boy wouldn’t that add an angle to her story LMAO

also, i thought the juxtaposition between marshall and eva was good

like you have marshall the deadbeat millennial who is super insecure about himself, basically cares about one person in the entire world but also feels insecure about how he feels that friend is better than him (which is interesting since in the first book we see how much nathan feels like a failure himself), doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing, etc. etc.

and then gen-z eva who’s like, SO fucking busy all the time, arguably successful, but doing something that other people don’t always believe is of value, as a like, 18-20 year old (presumably? it seems like her ex-gf is in college so i assume she’s around that age) and even though she has these sponsors and a successful streaming career she also feels like she doesn’t know what she’s doing with her life and she’s super stressed and way too much of a workaholic (but she also HAS to be)

so like, the two of them are from different generations (by what, 10 years? lmao) and seem really different on the surface but have more in common than they might realize once you dig into their insecurities and stresses

also why is her cat named after the main character of home alone... if she doesn’t know any of the shit marshall knows because she’s younger than him, why that? i’m 28 and i have never seen home alone, i had to google the name

also, tiny detail, i really like the way eduardo ferigato draws marshall, specifically the shape of his nose. like, marcelo costa does some good work too, particularly in drawing the suits and the interior dimensions/universe/existence/etc. but as far as faces go i kinda prefer ferigato lol i just feel like there’s a little more variation in facial features there among all the characters, and interesting variation... like i said, costa’s good too, though, just different tastes for me
