I hate how MHA (and the fandom) tries to shift some of the blame from Enji onto Touya for the mistreatment he received by saying Enji stopped training him as a means of protecting him from his volatile quirk. Like, your son is questioning the purpose of his existence by age 13 because he recognizes that he was only born to be the future number one hero and was tossed aside as soon as he couldn't match the expectations set for him, which is already horrible in itself, but you, Enji, as as a parent to a child with a volatile quirk, have an obligation to teach your son how to manage said quirk in the event he does use it (accidentally or otherwise), and you, Enji, as the number two pro hero in the country, have the resources and funds to look into support items to ensure your son's quirk doesn't burn him alive.
"Enji was trying to protect Touya" no he fucking wasn't. If Enji wanted to protect Touya from his quirk, he would have been proactive about it instead of dismissing his son entirely.

shitty au idea #1
up and coming pro hero Shouto ends up as a surprise celebrity contestant on a dating show because his PR team thinks it will be good for his ratings because despite being hot he's terrible with the press. this immediately backfires on his PR team when Shouto becomes far more interested in you, a member of the production team, than he is in any of the other contestants.

I've been seeing the "endeavor is the best written character in BNHA" take for a while and regardless of if that's true or not (because that's an opinion, not a fact) do the people saying this not think it's questionable or off-putting that the "best" written character is a middle aged man discovering after over two decades that neglecting, abusing, and overall traumatizing his wife and children is BAD and he wants to be a better person now???

on one hand I think that Touya/Dabi, Shouto, and Endeavor aren't involved in the Overhaul arc because then the narration would have to confront the uncomfortable parallels between Endeavor and Overhaul, and Touya/Shouto and Eri BUT I'm also cracking up thinking about how ridiculous it would be if Dabi was there and Overhaul took one look at him and was like "absolutely not, I need to fix this", and then proceeded to completely blow Touya's cover by overhauling him

thinking about how horikoshi really went the route of making endeavor redeemable while in the same breath making dabi/touya psychotic because of deep-rooted jealousy instead of having the balls to address the fact that men in positions of power are frequently able to use wealth and celebrity status to avoid facing consequences for abuse
you really mean to tell me that "enji is trying to be better and dai/touya is deeply unhinged and needs to be defeated by the collective effort of his family" is somehow narratively more interesting than "touya resorted to exposing his father's crimes and attempting to kill him after years of abuse that no one would believe actually happened because said father is a hero that has enough public influence to cover up said abuse" ???

you know what? quite literally the only reason Dabi didn't kill anyone during the summer camp arc is because of plot armor. Aizawa shouldn't have had time to move out of the way of a point blank hit like the one thrown at him. Vlad King and the students in the classroom should have received some nasty burns at best. Shoji and Midoriya were burned, but probably not as badly as they should have been from that amount of heat. Hawks should have lost his wings entirely and honestly probably should have died considering that it was a point blank attack like with Aizawa.

I'm drafting a Shinsou x reader fic that I'm hoping to post this month and I need opinions on if it should be:
Premise: You agree to watch Eri for your uncle Aizawa and he forgets to tell you about the hot young man currently living in his basement.

can't wait for bnha to go the route of naruto where the narrative repeatedly beats people over the head with the fact that the government is extremely corrupt and overall fucked up and hey actually the antagonists have a point, but then the series ends with the main character who was initially presented as an underdog but is actually the most super special because reasons becoming number one and absolutely nothing changes in the society that we were told was bad

did... did the anime fuck up the Twice + Dabi v Hawks fight or something? because I'm seeing people say Hawks killed Twice in self-defense when I'm like 99.99% sure that in the manga Twice was running away from the fight

"[the media] is trying to make UA look bad"
lmao UA makes themselves look bad by being one of the most prestigious hero schools in the country while having garbage security and doing fuck all research and/or background checks when it comes to their students.
Not having dorms put in place from the very beginning despite having a highly publicized sports festival that could put targets on the students' backs. Allowing in a student with a long history of bullying. Allowing in a student that was later revealed to be a traitor working with the villains to feed them information. Iida requested to intern in the location where Stain attacked and nearly killed his brother and neither Aizawa or Nezu said "absolutely not". Endeavor basically outright told All Might that the only reason he created Shouto was for the potential of a powerful quirk and All Might didn't think that was concerning at all. Bakugou repeatedly tried to attack one of his classmates and nothing was done about it. Teachers and pro heroes allowed first year students with less than ~7 months of training to be part of the Shie Hassaikai raid.
The LOV and media barely have to do anything to make UA and hero society look bad, they manage that all of their own.

I think what's so frustrating about the Todoroki plotline for me is that Horikoshi clearly took a lot of inspiration from ATLA and the relationship between Zuko, Azula, Ozai, and Ursa, but he completely failed to understand why the specific dynamics and characterizations work.

I kind of dislike how Midoriya's plot during the summer camp arc is him... wanting to change Kota's mind because he dislikes quirks and hero society after his hero parents died. idk I feel like a better plotline would have been Midoriya questioning the concept of self-sacrifice and how hero society always calls it "noble." Because while you could say the Water Hose due dying to protect civilians is noble, it was also pretty selfish of them to continue working in a dangerous line of work knowing that if anything happened to them they'd be leaving a toddler behind to suffer through the fallout.
Midoriya is an incredibly kind character, but in his idolization for heroes and hero society as a whole he has a tendency to be somewhat tone-deaf when it comes to other people's issues with hero culture.
