One thing I do not take for granted any longer is my sense of smell. During my short Covid-19 illness, that was something I lost for a few weeks. My mom lost hers in a horse riding accident when she was young so I had heard about her not having a sense of smell my whole life, but the reality of it is quite the disturbing experience. Today is Fashion Revolution Day, the anniversary of the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh that killed 1138 garment workers in 2013. In response to this tragedy the organization Fashion Revolution was founded and challenges us to ask fashion brands the question Who made my clothes? We need more transparency and accountability in our clothing supply chain to guarantee fair and safe working conditions. . At Community you can see for yourself who makes your clothes, as our sewing and production area is part of our retail space. This week we will introduce our seamstresses and redesigners. First up is Becky. With 30 years of sewing experience she expertly handles alterations, monogramming, and sewing machine repair services at Community.
