It takes some time for him to get used to. He's an intimidating guy so for someone to want to be touchy or affectionate with him, well, it's definitely a change of pace.

I don't think he minds something like handholding. But he might act a bit pouty if he's held or given kisses in public because it's a bit embarrassing. He's not embarrassed of you being his S/O, but he's embarrassed of others seeing him being held and stuff.

In private, he prefers being held over handholding. Just cause he likes to use his hands and make things. He'll gladly let you koala hug him if you want, so long as he can keep working on his sewing.

Yosuke

It's a bit for him to get used to with your affection. He likes it, but he's also just not used to being so openly affectionate. Would be okay with handholding and small gestures before he gets more adjusted.

With what happened with Saiki, I feel like Yosuke is also rather affectionate and clingy with you in private. Just because of that tiny voice in the back of his head not wanting to lose you and being afraid of not spending enough time with you.

Is a lot more shy about PDA than he lets on. Especially in front of his friend group. So if you are being clingy then he might be a bit of a flustered mess.

Notes: I'm so excited to write for this fandom! I honestly loved the anime and think the plot is so cool.

Warnings: kinda dark themes? like mentions of what normally happens in the anime

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

Pretending to be in a relationship with you certainly wasn't Ayanokoji's first choice. If anything, he would rather not have to exert so much energy trying to be romantically involved with someone.

However, since the relationship benefits him in some way or another, he chooses to keep up the act and pretend to like you.

You are none the wiser and don't even realise that the relationship could be faked. Since he's always so reclused it's easy for you to brush off his lack of physical affection.

This plays to his advantage since even wrapping his arm around your waist is seen as a sign of affection on his part, making it easier for him to pretend to be attracted to you.

When you're in a relationship with him, Kiyotaka will do everything to ensure you never catch on to his real feelings. He'll plan occasional dates and even pace himself to be more and more affectionate to you over time.

If you do catch onto his real feelings then he isn't afraid to switch to manipulation and other such tactics to get his way.

He'll be nice until you force him not to be (aka cause problems and don't listen).

When it comes to PDA Kiyotaka doesn't really care. He will do anything to make people believe what he wants them to. This includes kissing you in public if needed.

He isn't really the type to get jealous or possessive but he doesn't like it when things don't go how he planned so he would be quick to intervene if he thinks someone could steal you away.

Kakeru Ryuen

Kakeru doesn't have very strong morals which is why he isn't opposed to play dirty to get his way. This includes pretending to be in a relationship with you.

He isn't afraid to use threats or manipulation to get his way, but if you already like him then he would leverage that.

Kakeru can be pretty possessive regardless of the fact that you're not actually dating. He's the type of person who can be pretty possessive over their partner which is why he would use the excuse of being realistic to ensure no one else so much as looked at you.

He can also be pretty big on PDA, and uses the excuse of keeping it real to tease you quite a bit.

Most of the people in his class probably know that you're not actually dating, but even then they don't do anything about it or try to talk Kakeru out of forcing the fake dating on you.

He probably didn't just fake date you for ulterior motives and actually likes you but chooses to use this situation to be able to have you as his, even if it's fake.

Perhaps, he might even get what he wants and have you fall for him too.

Sudo Ken

It was your idea. Or forced upon the two of you. There is no other way that Sudo would actually get into a fake relationship.

He probably got into trouble again and Ayanokoji came up with the idea of having him be in a relationship with you as proof that he couldn't have done whatever the other party claimed.

Sudo wouldn't be nearly as bold or natural as the others, mainly because unlike them he really doesn't have an ulterior motive and was as oblivious as you.

You would probably have to take the lead with the whole relationship and with the help of Ayanokoji and the others, you would set up things like dates or hold his hand during class.

Kudo can get flustered quite easily, but once he gets a little used to it, he can be pretty good at the whole relationship thing. He's kind but also knows when not to be and can be a pretty good boyfriend.

The only one where the two of you could end up together without a toxic start.

i think based on their midwinter uniforms souji gets cold more easily lol, he's bundled up with a full on coat and scarf while yosuke's just wearing a hoodie under his jacket, along with the fact that yosuke has a really high metabolism (i'd assume) so he probably runs hot... he's souji's portable heater in my mind lol

Yosuke grimaced as the flirty tittering of yet another student managed to worm its way into his ears. “Oh, Yamada-kun! I'm so cold," a girl crooned just nearby, shamelessly pressing herself onto her very flustered victim. "Your hands are so warm... and big… maybe you could warm me up too?”

College girls are ruthless, he thought to himself as he watched the boy freeze up and stutter from the attention.

Sure, the PDA was a little annoying. Yosuke couldn’t remember the last time a girl had ever shown that much blatant interest in him, if ever. But at this point, it didn't bother him as much as the fact that they were getting promising, if not awkward, reactions. Something that, for a while now, Yosuke had yet to see from his own partner - partner partners now - and was more than a little desperate to finally witness.

Maybe he was a little too invested in this little bet he had made up with himself, but the perfect flush on Souji Seta's face just a few short weeks ago when he had confessed had been haunting Yosuke's dreams ever since. He had to see it again. No matter what. Even if it meant sucking it up and being embarrassingly girly in plain view of the entire campus.

“Brrr…! Partner, I’m kinda cold…” Yosuke said, a low sing-songy mumble as he wrapped his arms around himself. Hamming it up, he added a little shiver in, rubbing his hands up and down the sleeves of his coat. His light jacket was more than enough to keep him comfy, and to be honest it was almost a little hot over the sweatshirt he was wearing, but it was a price he figured he'd have to pay to see Souji be the one clamming up and stumbling for once.

True to his nature, Souji immediately whirled around to face him, eyes already wide with concern and face already red. Surprised by the immediate success, Yosuke decided to deliver the final blow.

"M... Maybe you could warm me up?" he stuttered out, with much less confidence than the girl he had seen five minutes ago delivering the same line.

"O - of course," Souji replied, cheeks ruddy as he struggled his thick winter coat off. "Here, t-t-take my jacket," he stammered, already tucking the grey overcoat onto Yosuke's shoulders. Now he was really far too hot. It was worth it, though, to see his normally stoic partner stumble over his own words like that, face and ears and neck all blotchy red, his body... shivering...

His boyfriend was cold.

Not flustered, not embarrassed, not even a little bit moved.

Just cold. Because Yosuke had taken his jacket.

Because he had given Yosuke his jacket, willingly.

"Y - Yosuke? Are you feeling b-better?" Souji asked, suddenly leaning in as if to inspect his condition up close, not helping the sudden burn of his cheeks as he realized exactly what had just happened. Without even knowing it, his boyfriend had managed to parry his attack and turn it back on him, all in one blow.

"Yosuke?" Souji repeated, voice a little distressed at this point.

"Sorry, I'm... I'm still cold, actually... How about we get something warm to drink?" he offered, hoping Souji would take the bait so he could pay for his poor boyfriend's drink and give him back the jacket and maybe give him his jacket while he was at it.

This time, Souji's face lit up, face rosy not from the cold but from joy, and Yosuke had the sudden guilty feeling that he was kind of a terrible boyfriend. If he had known that all it had would have taken was asking his boyfriend out on one little cafe date...

"Let's go," he mumbled into the collar of his borrowed jacket, before grasping onto his boyfriend's icy hand to drag him off to the nearest coffee shop. He had won his little bet, and now he needed to put his new knowledge to good use as soon as possible.

The sun shone down, casting Yosuke and his partner in a lustrious golden light.

Yosuke stood with his back to Yu, hugging himself. It was now or never, he told himself. If he didn’t get everything off his chest now, he would never have the opportunity to again.

“...There’s something I wanted to tell you,” he said, taking a deep breath. Now or never.

He paused. Was that really it? Was that the true heart of how he had felt in the beginning?

But as soon as you got here, you called your Persona... Became our leader, gathered people... You’re a hero.”

Yosuke turned his gaze up to the azure sky. Bright and boundless, there secrets held within the velvety blue depths that Yosuke used to long to grasp. Now, though....

“I like you for that, and I’m proud of you... But I guess I was jealous at the same time,” he admitted, though that was only one weight off his chest. Others were still pressing down on his throat, threatening to close it up. He yearned to spill everything to his partner, even if it meant being abandoned once again.

“I didn’t know...” Yu’s voice was painfully soft. His words echoed in Yosuke’s head, wrapped his heart in a burning hug that he wished would never end.

“I didn’t know it either...” Yosuke muttered, bowing his head and taking another deep breath. He was taking a lot of those in this conversation. Maybe it was because he felt like passing out right there on the grass.

“When I called you special, I thought some more about it. I think out of everyone, I wanted to be acknowledged by you the most.”

He turned to face his partner, the one who helped him get this far.

“But I focused all my attention on the murders, to avoid having to confront myself. So long as I don’t try, nothing will change- even if we catch the killer.”

The tears he had tried to fight back for so long were making an appearance, but he fought against them anyways.

“Right now, I’m just plain old me. And I want to do what I can with everything I’ve got! With you guys...” He grinned through his misty eyes, hugging his elbows.

“...I never knew I had such- heat inside- Uh, don’t make me stay stuff like that-!” He suddenly looked up, cheeks burning. Despite being so flustered, there was a pang of panic. Would Yu leave after this? Would he be left to spill his heart out to the river and the birds, with no partner to lean on?

“...Don’t go...” He murmured, and Yu took his hand wordlessly, staring at him. Waiting for his next words.

“...I like you,” Yosuke whispered, and Yu leaned forward.

Their lips crashed together, and Yosuke felt as though the world finally made sense. That odd tight feeling in his chest whenever he saw Yu, the blooming warmth whenever-

God, he needed to remember to breathe.

I feel like Souji/Yu probably gives lots of little gifts, like trinkets and baubles from here and there that just "reminded me of you :)", and Yosuke likes them (and gets a little flustered lmao) but it's nothing big. Whereas Yosuke would be more likely to buy Yu a bigger gift and then get really awkward and unsure upon actually giving it -- but, of course, Yu loves it. They're both good gift-givers, but I think Yosuke puts more thought into it, generally, whereas Yu's thought process doesn't go too far beyond "I see the thing, it reminds me of my boyfriend, I Purchase"

i had to think about this for a while - there are so many tropes that i like and it kind of depends. mutual pining is a big one; found family too. also, for non-romance, (reasonably) overpowered characters…!

🤩 What led to your interest in the fandom?

i pretty much fell headfirst into the persona fandom, lol. i was doing a bit of research for a game idea i had, persona 4 was a big one. i can’t remember exactly but i think it was youtube clips that made me think woah, these characters are so cool, and i loved the story themes as well. then there was the persona 4 animation scene with the group date cafe, yu being the girl and yosuke getting all flustered, i was like omg wtf that’s hilarious. thus began my descent

oh yes! i wrote a scene for a medieval isekai persona fic! (note that the uncle yu is talking to here isn’t dojima ryotaro, but another unmentioned uncle because Story)

Yu entered the royal court where the King awaited. His figure was as proper and as elegant as it had been the first time, this time an element of excitement now tempered into a calm gaze.

Yu kneeled and bowed his head.

“Your Majesty.”

The King smiled at him; it offered him a modicum of ease. “You seem well, my nephew. I’ve heard you’ve done well for yourself this time.”

“It is by Your Majesty’s grace that I was given such an opportunity to prove my worth.”

He chuckled. “Please, there’s no need for such formalities amongst family."

Yu kept quiet as he nodded. In the back of his mind, there was a vague memory of himself standing beside his mother, who spoke warmly to the King in a way that made his own heart feel cold.

He remembered the King patting his head, reminding him to smile more.

Still, he remembered a distant world, where that same uncle would pat his shoulder, congratulate him for his stellar academics, and give him a little extra pocket money for it.

The King suddenly laughed.

“Such a fastidious and polite young man you are. You remind me very much of my father.”

Yu bowed his head again, further this time. “I cannot accept such high praise.”

“But it’s true. Father was a great king. Of course, you weren’t even born yet when he was on the throne, but if you’d met him, you’d know. He had the heart of a true king.”

The King rubbed at his temple.

“There’s an old story. A man builds a successful business with his own two hands, becoming wealthy through his merit and his blood, sweat and tears. His son, having seen how hard his father worked, worked equally as hard to maintain his father’s wealth. His grandson, taking his wealth for granted, squanders it all away.”

Yu had indeed heard of the saying before. What it meant was very apparent to him.

“Father was a sovereign that saw his kingdom and his people not just as subjects, but as extensions of himself. He wielded great bolts to light the skies, never to strike fear, but to bring hope to the people of Caerulea."

The King lamented. “My children… I cannot say I have not spoiled them, but I have tried my best to inculcate the heroic spirit that Lord Izanagi so favours. Though it seems that one’s natural temperament cannot be changed so easily. Noriko was always such a bossy child, and Mitsuo is… I suppose that’s the trouble with being born with such a weighty birthright. Sometimes, I wonder if he isn’t living in his own world.”

The King sighed. Yu understood exactly what he meant. His eldest two children, fighting for the throne; it wasn’t that they didn’t have the ability. But Yu could not see a shred of benevolent rule from Noriko, and Mitsuo was blind to the people's needs. They weren’t serious issues on their own, but it was natural for the pious king, who looked up to his father, to harbour some disappointment.

“Well. Lord Izanagi has blessed my two children as they are, so… Ah, in the end, I’ve just become a sentimental old man, clinging onto boyish dreams. Could you blame me for that?"

“Of course not, Your Majesty.”

“Please, just call me uncle.”

“…of course, uncle.”

The King seemed very pleased.

“What a blessing to our kingdom that Lord Izanagi has blessed you, my nephew.”

A chill ran up Yu’s spine.

When Yosuke went to your place to hang out, he was not expecting your sudden request for him to "lay on my lap, please, i wanna play with your hair".

It takes him aback and he feels so flustered and embarrassed at the idea. Might mutter a few excuses, but then takes a deep breath to calm himself. This is just a cute thing you want to do, he shouldn't be weird about it. At least, that's what he tells himself.

He's very shy when he sets his head on your lap. His body is pretty stiff as he tries to get comfortable. You murmur some praise his way and he mumbles back his thanks.

Once your hands are in his hair, then he starts to relax a bit. A content sigh leaves him as your fingers thread through his slightly messy locks.

Despite his initial awkwardness with the situation, he can't help but start to enjoy and the affectionate gesture. He mumbles another thanks this time, mumbling due to how relaxed he's gotten instead of being shy. There are still times when he's awkward navigating having a boyfriend, but he's very glad that he has you.

I answered these as if they’re already somewhere in the relationship stage.

These are a pretty good example for the previous question about how "spicy” Lemonade might be. The extent of what’s here is more or less as far as things would go.

Ren rolls her eyes. "Lucky for the big dummy in front of me, I kiss way better than I look stupid." She pouts for a final few seconds before her expression turns cheeky instead. Unfolding her arms, she leans forward with a wide grin. "So? You down for that kiss right now or what?”

Yuushin grabs MC by the tie, yanking them into a straddle atop his lap. "I look stupid, huh?” He licks his lips. It’s just a subconscious reaction to their new proximity, but MC is hyperaware of it anyways. “Say that again and see if I don’t shut up that cocky mouth of yours.”

Shion tries to frown disapprovingly, but it's impossible to maintain a stern look with MC grinning victoriously from ear to ear. She finally admits defeat, resigning to a light head shake and affectionate smile. "I never thought I’d fall in love with someone so ridiculous, yet here I am...”

Hikaru: “So what if I do!?" His eyes widen as he realizes what he just blurted. “W-wait- I mean-” Suddenly embarrassed by his own statement, he looks around the room to find something to blame. He finds nothing, so he jabs an accusing finger at MC instead. "You looked at me with puppy eyes first!!!"

Leila: “Oi, don’t change the subject.” She pinches MC’s left cheek but it’s out of endearment, not annoyance. After letting go, she yawns and falls back against the bed. “Mm...what to eat for dinner...” (MC: “Who’s changing the subject now?” L: “‘You wanna kiss me bad it makes you look stupid’~”)

Aleksei raises an amused brow, liking where this is going. “Someone’s in a bold mood. In the school lab, too.” (“Why not? Can’t get it up with the skeleton model watching?”) An impressed chuckle escapes his breath. Pale green eyes gleam with something faintly dangerous. “You better be prepared to finish what you’re starting.”

Akane freezes in bewilderment. She immediately pats her cheeks and feels all over her face to search for any evidence that led MC to such a conclusion. “I really wasn’t thinking about k...ki...kissing...” Thoroughly flustered by the word alone, she buries her face in her hands. “Please don’t tease me so suddenly...///”

Yosuke: Normally he’d deny it, but annoyance from their argument is clouding his judgment right now. In any case, MC is the one stupefied when they're suddenly pulled in for an unexpected kiss. But they don’t get to dwell on it for long-- an unsexy low whisper follows, completely destroying the mood: "Pineapple on pizza is still disgusting.”

Now for some mentions from his schoolmates~ "Nakamura-san? He's really nice I guess. Always saying hi to anyone he knows and helping anyone that needs helping. The poor guy's kindness is gonna get exploited at some point, either by the teachers or our classmates."

"Oh, the new kid! There was a rumour going around for a bit that he was Nakamura-sensei's long lost brother. Him hanging around sensei and joining in on the teasing didn't help either. Not to mention that he started contributing to the rumours! Poor sensei..."

"He's usually surrounded by people in school, so it's near impossible to get him on his own. The one time I did see him alone though, he was reading a romance manga. Had stars in his eyes and everything. Adds to the irony that he's really really really daft when it comes to anyone being interested in him. A ball of sunshine usually, he tries his best to get to know his school mates and make friends. Looking at him and Hikaru standing next to each other could blind a person.

Helps whenever and whoever he can, not wanting to struggle on their own with anything. (Poor boy is projecting) Unfortunately, this leads to him taking on more than he can handle himself, which sometimes ends... poorly. Tends to take care of things himself, feeling unwilling to burden others with his problems.

Blames himself for his parents divorce on some level, despite knowing it was out of his control.

Has a love for romance stories and wishes to have one himself. Easily flustered, though not well-known as he tends to be unaware of any attraction directed towards him.

Very expressive. He's like an open book in any situation. (Which also means he's a terrible liar. Hence his specialty in changing the subject.) Also an idiot in terms of common sense.

Has a very loud, pleasant laugh, which is usually suppressed into a snort. Currently has a massive crush on Yosuke, an is not being as subtle about it as he thinks (anyone who knows him knows).
