being a 5sos fan in 2022 has been absolute insanity. here are a few of my highlights 💙

1. sleeping on the street like I wasn’t a 25 year old with a flat and a full time job

2. still queuing almost 24 hours later (shoutout to the girls from one of the twitter update accounts for showcasing my fave pants)

3. sitting in the chair in our hotel lobby (iykyk)

4. @kindahoping4forever telling me that the band account retweeted me before my phone even told me they retweeted me

5. a pic from @wandererwildflower’s film camera of us all waiting for soundcheck. it’s not great but I still love it

6. we found a tiny ashton on the menu at wagas

7 & 8. ono. before, and the bow

9. documenting the fact that they were late on stage. again

10. I feel like this photo I took of ashton sums up my feelings on this whole year

11. (but by far the best) getting to see some of my friends I’ve made through this band

I’ve been lucky enough to go to two exclusive shows and five actual tour dates. we had an album release together for the first time. we ate more maccies in 12 days than any reasonable person should ever eat. we’ve clocked up thousands of miles in train journeys, and in plane journeys. Beth and I travelled to another country because we couldn’t bare the thought of tour being over. we met more internet friends at other shows.

I would be nothing without this band, and I’d be nothing without these people.

hi hello i know you’re all seeing this like not another one of these !! but however you will have to endure it because i am here after one of the worst years of my life to say thank you to some of the best people in it. making my return to fandom is not something i would have had on my 2020 predictions, but neither was most of this year. however, you have all reminded me how special and loving an online community can be when you feel like you have no one else. so here’s to all of you for saving the second half of this year for me, i will never be able to thank you all enough for putting up with my endless trash gifs and screeching in tags 💖

The flowers are in bloom. The sun shines. The altar is beautiful.

His dark eyes are shining, trailing down the aisle, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

It’s a familiar smile. One you’ve seen a thousand times. One he’s given you around a laugh he tries to keep quiet. One that says more than his words can. One that speaks love into the air. A smile that was meant especially for you.

The bouquet in your hands shakes but you see the love that softens his face and you know there’s no stopping it.

You’re lost in the glamor of black and white, remembering fog drifting through the late night sky. His giggles as you compared the dark of the sky to his eyes. The dimple in his cheek you poked before he enveloped your hand with his. A bare ring finger begging for a promise squeezing against the back of your hand. Lifelines joining.

You’re lost in the way he sways at the altar, remembering the sway of a dance under the stars. The way his hands had settled on your waist and felt just right. The taste of his lips on yours as he whispered promises against them. The notion that someday a dance would be shared in front of family and friends, but the world behind you wouldn’t matter, you’d be too wrapped up in your husband’s arms to care about anything else.

You’re lost in the flowers living on the arch, remembering summer nights in twinkling gardens with cobblestone paths. Flowers tucked in your hair, tucked in his hair, spilling out of pockets. Petals trailing from the front door to the bedroom. The hope they may someday lead you to him and the altar.

You’re lost in the crowd of happy faces, eyes filled with tears, remembering the way they had tracked down your cheeks on an unusually cold night. The fingers that had gently wiped them away. The shaking breath that collided with the cold air. The arms that enveloped you. The way you wanted, wished and willed for them to never ever let you go.

You’re lost in the words of promise that echo through the crowd. Remembering vows you weren’t sure he could keep. Words that sounded too good to be true.

He smiles again. That familiar smile. The one that was meant for you.

He smiles at her as you stand by her side.

Your “best friend”.

His bride.

She’s more than you’ll ever be. More than a fleeting summer romance under the stars. More than wine drunk smiles and wandering hands. More than midnight moments of whispered secrets. More than flowers in pockets. More than empty promises.

She’s a lifetime. A toast of champagne and delicate fingers tucking hair behind ears. She’s lurid against the morning sun, wrapped up in slept in sheets. She’s bouquets and arrangements. She’s the vow he can keep that leaves his lips and lives in his eyes. She’s the perfect bride for the perfect groom.

The perfect couple.

You are abandoned.

Betrayed.

By him and then her.

Writhing in the heart ache of being alone. Of not being enough. Of standing by her side when she didn’t have your back or care about your broken heart.

Only broke it further.

He promises himself to her.

She says “I do” and he does too.

You were napping.

He snuggled with Duke as he flipped through the channels; Duke snoring loudly as he tried to find something to pass the time. It was no question he missed you; he knew you were tired from redecorating the living room. You had spent all of your quarantine time with him; there were days you needed your space and others where you couldn’t make it through 5 minutes without him touching or kissing you. His warm body close to you every day was the best.

He softly began to play a song on the piano, getting lost in the music as his fingers hit the keys he continued to play.

Your eyes shot open as you heard Calum play the piano, you stretched in the bed as the blanket on top of you started to fall off of your body. You slowly got out of bed as you heard Calum playing the piano louder; you giggled as you stepped toward the door. You opened the door slowly not making a sound as the cool wood hit your skin, tiptoeing down the hallway.

You steadily walked into the living room as Calum continued to play the piano completely oblivious to you waking up to his music. You gently sat down on the empty space on the stool as he smiled when his brown eyes met yours. He softly finished the song before turning his chest towards you, “Hi.”

“You didn’t miss me did you bub?” You asked taking off his bucket hat and ran your fingers through his luscious black curls.

He hummed in response as his strong hands wrapped around your waist, “Of course I did, Duke’s cuddles and kisses aren’t as good as yours.”

You giggled while you playfully shook your head, you kissed his forehead and nose before softly pressing a kiss to his full lips, “So I’ve heard. Want to make dinner?”

“I’ll help, I love watching you cook.” He blushed before kissing your forehead sweetly.

“Your such a good helper.” You sighed happily as you heard Duke’s barks.

“I swear I’m gonna drop him off at Ash’s, he ruins everything.” He teased with a wink.

“If he goes, so do I.” You stated playfully as he sighed letting you go and getting up.

“I’d like to see you try love.” He winked walking over to the sliding doors letting Duke inside.

“You love me.” You smiled as you watched Duke run up to you wagging his tail.

“Very much so, not as much as Duke apparently.” Calum joked as he picked up Duke and followed you into the kitchen.

You giggled as you bent down to grab pans as Calum put Duke down as he went to the fridge. You kissed his cheek as you began to cook, Calum’s arms wrapped around your waist as his head rested on your shoulder as he pressed his body against your back. “I love you.”

“I love you my love.” You cooed as you kissed his cheek as you looked forward to the rest of the night spent with your two favorite boys.
