SasuHinaMonth2024 - Theme!
We have an important an exciting announcement to make tonight!
The Mod Team has taken careful consideration for the theme of the up-and-coming SasuHina Month 2024 Event. After a few weeks of planning and listing, we are happy to announce this years theme to be --
Sasuke dutifully drumrolls
OPPOSITES ATTRACT
We don't believe there are any two words that describe these two people more than exactly this! There's something so natural about the idea that opposites would attract, no matter if it's negatives and positives or the beaming sunshine (we know who that is) against that single raincloud (we definitely know who that is).
Sure. Perhaps in canon, these two barely interact. But it's the what ifs that get us because we all can imagine a million and one scenarios between these two! The reason this ship is so interesting is because, really, Sasuke and Hinata are opposites in some many cases -- and yet, still, despite those opposites, they attract, and through that attraction they learn about the subtle, hidden similarities between them. SasuHina embraces difference, change, and a little bit of silliness. And that's exactly what this year's theme will be focusing on!
So write it down! Mark it in your calendars!
SasuHina Month 2024 will be happening through June 1st - June 30th, 2024!
Look out for future announcements regarding the prompts and Artist of the Year!
Thanks all!
See you in a few,
The Mod Team

Today, Hinata is 20.
It’s not the lavish birthday bash that Hanabi is destined to have, but it’s still quite a nice party.
“’Ey Hinata.” Kiba swings around her front, almost losing his balance. Hinata automatically grabs at him to keep him steady and he flashes her a toothy smile. “Think your cousin over there’d be interested in me?”
Hinata looks over her shoulder to find whom she recognizes as Hikari, a branch member with beautifully long, dark green hair. She looks back at Kiba and lowers her eyes at him disapprovingly. “Is my celebration a good time to pick up on women, Kiba?”
“Ah, c’mon—”
"She is right." Shino approaches him from behind, causing Kiba to instinctively throw his fist backward. Shino's quicker and knows Kiba well enough to catch it in his hand before it lands a hit. When he sees who it is, he lets out a groan of frustration. Shino releases the fist and pushes his glasses back up his nose. "It is what some might call 'inappropriate’.”
Hinata’s always found Kiba and Shino’s interactions to be some of the funniest.
“You guys are boring,” Kiba huffs childishly, folding his arms, “never let a guy have any fun.”
The group naturally settles in a corner of the grand hall they’re partying in. Even though it’s Hinata’s birthday celebration, it’s really just a façade for clan politics to take place. She doesn’t care much, it’s not like she really wants a party anyway. But, as always, father gets what father wants.
“You guys know why I’m single?” Kiba interjects, bringing a glass of sake to his lips to throw down his throat. He shudders and coughs slightly before setting it on the table next to them. “Women are intimidated.”
“Intimidated?” Shino questions quietly, and Hinata knows he’s blinking in disbelief behind those sunglasses. She smiles as she looks back at Kiba.
“Yep, by my power.” He thumbs towards his own chest, then swipes at his nose. “Guess I gotta tone it down a little.”
“Yes, please,” Hinata teases him gently and he glares at her, but she knows it isn’t serious. “No glaring. I don’t want you scaring the pretty ladies away with your power.”
"Ah!" Kiba barks a laugh, patting her roughly on the shoulder. She stumbles a bit but rights herself easily. "And what about you, Hina? You single cause all the men are intimidated by that crackling force in those palms?"
Hinata blushes at the over-the-top compliment, shaking her head. “No, I am single because I want to be.”
“Sure ya do.” He rolls his eyes, and her smile quickly fades to a frown.
“What do you mean by that?” she nearly snaps, but it comes out even and controlled.
“He means nothing by it.” Shino’s tone is warning and Kiba recoils from it. Hinata’s smile returns as she turns to lean against the wall with them.
The three quietly observe the crowd before them. It’s a typical Hyūga event, with Hyūga servants bustling around haughty clan leaders and politicians. She catches a glimpse of her little sister with her ear being talked off by one of those haughty clan leaders or politicians' sons. She feels bad for Hanabi, always expected to entertain whatever noble's son decides deserves to command her attention. But she plays the part quite beautifully, now. Just a few years ago, her byakugan would flash on and off as she internally debated whether to close any chakra points. Now, she's 14 and has fallen into her role well.
Then her eyes bounce to a man who matches her father in height as they speak, Fugaku Uchiha. It’s typical for the Uchiha to be here, the clans visit a few times a year, and an event like this is a perfect opportunity to ‘chat’. Hinata didn't like to concern herself with whatever that meant, it wasn't her place. Besides, she didn't really want to know, anyway. All she really knows is that there is both understanding and animosity between the clans, and that’s enough for her.
She also knows she’s not quite fond of his son. Her eyes land on Itachi, who is standing between the two men. No, not that son. The other one.
The one who is awkwardly sidled up in the opposing corner of the room, drink in hand, other arm folded over his chest, by himself. Hinata squints at him. He's always so aloof as if he's too good for everyone else around him. They'd been around each other plenty, and it was never particularly pleasant. At best, awkward silence filled the space between them. At worst, he was making snide remarks toward her and she would do her best not to let him know how little she thought of him.
He just wasn’t the type of person she could find it in herself to respect. People like Kiba, Shino, Naruto, Chōji, Tenten, Lee. Those were people she could respect. People who were kind without the expectation of anything in return. People who lifted others up, no matter what. People whom she thought of as friends.
Sasuke was no friend.
So, when his eyes cast up and lock with hers, almost immediately, she frowns and turns away. Kiba picks up on it and looks where she had been. She peers up from the corner of her eye to catch Kiba giving a mocking wave towards the Uchiha, then his hand flips around and his middle finger is up. She almost gasps and tells him to ‘put that away right now!’ but just as her eyes find Sasuke again, he’s glaring his mean glare back and his middle finger is up, too.
She almost laughs. Then Sasuke puts down his drink and raises his hands in front of his chest, flopping them around and sticking out his tongue like a dog panting. He’s mocking Kiba and it can go nowhere good.
It takes both Hinata and Shino grabbing both of Kiba’s arms to keep him from stomping up Sasuke. Both of them know Kiba’s no match for him, and to pick a fight at a Hyūga event would be disastrous for all involved.
“Fucking asshole,” Kiba seethes, yanking his arms out of his respective teammates' grasps as his temper cools, slightly.
Hinata breathes a sigh, reaching out to wipe at his jacket. “Control yourself, Kiba. Remember, that power.”
A laugh leaves him and that’s what gets him back to normal. His hand roughs through her hair and she swats at it.
“He’s approaching,” Shino informs them in a whisper, and Hinata whirls around to find that Sasuke is indeed strolling over to them.
It always has to be something, doesn’t it?
“Tell me, Inuzuka,” Sasuke says loftily as he approaches, his stride lazy as he carries his drink in an equally lazy way, “do all the members of the clan smell like dog, or is it just you?”
Hinata lets out a tired breath as Kiba’s face turns red enough to match the markings on his cheeks. “The hell crawled up your ass and died, Uchiha?”
“This sad celebration,” he deadpans and Hinata squints up at him.
“Can we help you, Sasuke?” she asks, hoping to redirect him away from her dear friend who is ready to explode.
Kiba’s resolve is admirable right now, though, she must admit.
"Yeah, I guess you could." He turns his attention to her, and she slowly takes a step back. She's pleased when his footsteps match hers to follow, and she continues luring him away as if he's her prey. He holds out his arm towards her and she looks at it questioningly. He points at a spot in his bicep that she recognizes as where a chakra point lies, and he taps it. "Close this one, then, hopefully, I'll black out and escape this terribly boring party."
Hinata sighs. She expects nothing less of bratty Sasuke. “Very funny, Sasuke. If you are so terribly bored, why don’t you simply…leave?”
Sasuke smirks down at her and she glares at it. “Don’t you think I would have—a long time ago—if I could?” She presses her lips together, unwilling to answer that. “No, the best I can do is entertain myself somehow. Your dog teammate is an easy target, and that’s his fault, not mine.”
Hinata finds that she can’t argue that point with him. Kiba’s always been too hot-headed for his own good. He is an easy target. But she won’t simply stand by and let Sasuke of all people bully him in her own home. So she darts her eyes around for a brief moment before they land on a main family member she knows for a fact is smitten with Sasuke, despite how Hinata has lamented her distaste for the boy. She smiles as she taps her on the shoulder. “Emiko?”
The girl whirls around to meet Hinata, then her eyes falter to Sasuke, and a deep blush takes over her cheekbones. She bows. “Oh, Hinata! And Sasuke! Hello!”
“How long has it been since you two have been acquainted?” Hinata questions in mock innocence, slowly taking a step back. “Emiko, Sasuke has been interested in finding the perfect sugar cookie recipe. Perhaps you may enlighten him?”
“Oh, really?” Emiko brightens up, stars in her eyes as they settle on Sasuke, who has a deep grimace on his face.
It suits him, she thinks. He rarely looks genuinely happy anyway, she thinks his face is frozen into a grimace often enough that it’s the default look of Sasuke Uchiha.
Another step back and his dark black eyes flash over hers, filled with irritation. “Not exactl—”
Hinata cups her mouth, and whispers to him, "her secret ingredient is cayenne."
This makes his grimace grow and she steps back again, Emiko set down the path Hinata had planned for her, and now she’s returning to her team.
“That—” Kiba points at Sasuke and Emiko, then looks back at Hinata. “That was devious.”
“Diabolical, even,” Shino agrees, tilting his head down at her.
She smiles, proudly. These are not insults from Kiba and Shino. They are compliments.
“Why, thank you.”
-
Nearly a week after her celebration (read: political meet and greet), Kō finds her while she’s shopping to summon her. She tilts her head curiously at her former caretaker. It had been a while since he's had to come to collect her for one reason or another, and she's actually interested to see what it could be for.
Nothing could prepare her for what she was about to be told when she was led to the Uchiha district.
“E-Excuse me?”
When Hinata lost to her sister in the bid for the heiress of her clan over 10 years ago, she never expected this.
“What she said.”
Hiashi and Fugaku shared a look briefly before looking back at their respective children.
“Do not act so surprised, Sasuke.” Fugaku waves a hand. “This is the way forward for our two clans.”
“But—” Hinata’s lips thin to a harsh line when her father’s eyes shoot into her like an arrow. The elder doesn’t have to say much to quiet his eldest.
But Fugaku isn’t as lucky as Hiashi, it seems. “This is ridiculous.” Sasuke pushes his palms onto the table before him, shoving his chair back. He begins walking away, and it’s Hiashi’s voice that recalls him. Hinata keeps her head forward, watching her father’s icy gaze bore into Sasuke’s back. “What is it, Lord Hyūga?”
“I would not be so eager to attempt refusing this proposal.”
Hinata’s teeth clench.
Marriage.
An arranged marriage.
“And what if I do?” Sasuke dares, and Hinata turns to find him looking over his shoulder, eyes squinted in a scowl at her father.
“It’s not up to you, boy,” Fugaku adds, and Hinata looks back at him. She can see him sucking his cheek in, something she’s noticed Sasuke do before, too.
Her head turns back to Sasuke when she hears him chuckle sarcastically. “What are you gonna do? Oust me from the clan? Go ahead, not like it matters to me anyway.”
Back to Fugaku. “No. I’ll simply have Lady Hokage revoke your title as jōnin.”
“Yeah, right, Tsunade would never—”
“Don’t test me.”
Hinata inhales through her mouth, exhales through her nose. She’s never been comfortable with tension, but she can at least deal with it if it’s between her and another. This tension is a whole new level of uncomfortable.
Now she’s turned back to Sasuke again, and she watches his head hang, fists ball up. Her own fists are curled into the fabric of her pants, too, her entire body feeling as tight as his looks.
“And what about you, Hyūga?” Her eyes find his when he looks back at her, eyebrows low. Her throat feels dry as she attempts some sort of response.
“Seems Hinata has more respect for her family than you do, Sasuke,” Fugaku responds on behalf of her.
Whether that was true or not is debatable. Hinata doesn’t have strong feelings one way or the other towards being ousted by her clan or losing her title of jōnin. No, the one thing her father does hold over her is the caged bird seal. She’s unsure of whether she’s willing to risk receiving it by defying him.
“Typical,” Sasuke mutters curtly, and he’s moving away now, concluding the heated interaction.
Slowly, Hinata turns back to the two men before her, two men who have always intimidated her for different reasons. Both of their eyes set on her simultaneously, and she’s surprised to see Fugaku’s mouth turn into a taut smile. “He’ll come around.”
“If I may…” Hinata ventures a question, trying to sit up as straight as possible and hold her head high. “What brings this on…now?”
Hiashi shoots her a warning look and she wills herself not to recoil from it. Fugaku speaks for them, “a contract signed long ago, around the time your title of the heiress was relinquished to your younger sister. With your 20th birthday passing, it comes into effect.”
Hinata swallows and nods. Her fate had never been her own, anyway.
-
Hanabi swings her legs as Hinata complains.
She’s been complaining for nearly an hour straight.
Hanabi inhales through the straw of her iced tea until that horrible sucking noise starts bubbling and Hinata stops to glare at her.
“I’m out,” Hanabi sighs, crushing the paper cup between her fingers.
Hinata’s glare deepens. “Have you no sympathy, sister?”
"Kinda hard." Hanabi shrugs, pulling the straw from the cup to put in her mouth, chewing. Hinata instinctively reaches out to pull it from her and Hanabi huffs, annoyed. "Elder sister! Look, it sucks, and I do feel bad. But, arranged marriages are fashionable right now, and lots of clans are doing it. And you know I’m in the same boat, right? Father’s gonna marry me off when I turn 20, too, and I have to be clan leader.”
Hinata softens. She hadn’t quite thought of that in the time she’d been ranting.
“At least he’s hot, right?” Hanabi wiggles an eyebrow and Hinata’s sympathy fizzles out, lips pulling into a purposeful frown. “What! It’s true. You know how many girls would be falling over themselves to be in your position?”
Hinata wants to make a snarky remark, as Kiba might make but restrains herself. "Looks are not enough for me, unfortunately."
Hanabi shrugs, swiping the straw out of Hinata’s hands. Hinata lets out an annoyed grunt and tries to grab it back, and soon they’re in a petty slapping fight over this stupid straw.
“Sisters shouldn’t fight,” a lazy voice drawls near them, a voice she’s becoming far too familiar with once more. Hinata lets go of the straw out of reflex, feeling a little ashamed that Sasuke’s stumbled on her in the middle of a squabble with her sister.
“Heyyyy Uchiha.” Hanabi chomps down on the straw and kicks her feet up on the table outside of the café they were enjoying tea at (enjoying being subjective, of course).
Hinata watches as Sasuke nonchalantly plucks the straw from her mouth, then grabs at her ankles to pull her feet off the table. Hanabi whines. “Don’t you have manners, little Hyūga?”
“Hey!” Hanabi huffs, folding her arms in a pout as Sasuke pulls up the chair between them.
“He’s—” Hinata catches herself. She was about to point out that Sasuke was correct in his assessment that she was being rude but can’t bring herself to say it aloud. At this point, his ego is the last thing she wants to encourage.
“Scram, brat.” Sasuke nudges his head to the side, and Hanabi laughs, loudly.
“Think you can talk to an heiress like that?” Hanabi quirks an eyebrow, daring him.
“Thought you didn’t like that title, Lady Hanabi.” There’s no humor on Sasuke’s face as he says it.
“Don’t be jealous,” Hanabi berates, leans forward, and wags a finger in his face, "'cause you're just the runner-up in your own clan. Runner up in inheritance, runner up in looks, runner up in power—"
“Hanabi!” Even Hinata can’t stand to listen to this any longer, because she sees Sasuke’s eye twitch, and it’s one of the few times she witnesses it. Her sister is one of the few people that can bring a rise out of him, and she doesn’t care to have it happen right here and now.
“Fine, fine.” Hanabi heaves a dramatic sigh as she slams her palms on the table, gathering herself to her feet. She shoots Hinata a look, eyelids low. “I meant what I said though…” She glances at Sasuke, who is looking at her with the faintest hint of curiosity. Then, she glances down at his lap and finishes in a cryptic fashion, “I heard the rumors are true…”
Hinata rolls her eyes as Hanabi begins skipping away, humming and oh so pleased with herself. Sasuke turns his body to her, rests his arm on the table, and looks at her seriously. "What rumors?"
“Oh, you know…” Hinata says, vaguely.
There were no rumors. It was just her sister playing with Sasuke. Hinata decides she’d like to play with him, too. It wasn’t her who started it, anyway.
With an irritated grumble, he shakes his head and it makes her smile. He waves a hand in front of his face. “Anyway, I have a plan.”
“A plan?” Her interest is piqued, now.
“To get us out of this ridiculous arrangement.”
Hinata tips her head up, then turns her full body to face him. She nods at him to continue, hands clasped in her lap, ready to listen.
“We go over the top.”
She blinks. “Over the top how?”
“Affection.”
Her heart sinks. “Excuse me?”
“Like now.” He reaches out to set his hand on hers and it’s…uncomfortable. She automatically pulls it away and he rolls his eyes, annoyed. He grasps it again and slots his fingers between hers. Her face goes bright red and her mind goes cloudy. “Everywhere. Here, middle of the village, on missions, in front of our dads. Especially our dads.”
“I—I’m not understanding,” she breathes out, hand tugging from his. His grip tightens.
“Really lay it on thick,” he continues, “make them regret ever trying to pair us up. Basically, embarrass the hell out of both our clans.”
Her hand finally relaxes and she can focus on the way it feels. She’s surprised that his hand is actually warm, not icy like she’d imagined. Not that she’d ever really imagined what Sasuke’s hands would feel like…but it was interesting. Collecting her thoughts, she responds, “how do you figure that will make them call it off?”
“Think about it,” he responds, leaning in closer, “both our families are uptight. Having the children of the leaders acting ‘unbecoming’.” He pulls up his other hand to air-quote. "Neither of our dads wants us to be happy, not really. It’ll sicken them to the point they’ll have no choice but to separate us.”
Hinata ponders this plan.
It’s a ludicrous idea, she thinks, but she has nothing better to offer. It was like he could read her mind when he tells her, “feel free to throw out your own brilliant ideas.”
She huffs, looking away, eyes landing on their interlocked hands. It’s a very strange sensation to have Sasuke’s fingers interlacing with hers. “I have none.”
“Not surprised,” he scoffs, leaning away from her now. “Then you’re in?”
She bites her lip as she looks back up at him. He has a smirk on his lips, and it irks her that Hanabi’s right. He’s objectively hot (not the word Hinata would use) but his ego is far too big for his head and that is not hot (to her, at least). However, she can’t help but agree to this ridiculous plan. She truly had no better ideas, and she supposes it’s worth a shot. “Fine. We’ll try it, I suppose.”
“Good.” He nods approval and his other hand lifts to beckon her with his index finger. “Now kiss me.”
Hinata pales. “Excuse me?!”
“You’re in, right?” He raises an eyebrow, asking as if his command was as normal as telling someone to smile. She nods, reluctantly, and he curls the finger again. “So…kiss me.”
Hinata darts her eyes to the side. There are quite a few people around, many of whom she recognizes, and that makes her shudder. Unfortunately, that’s the point and that’s why he’s telling her to do it now. So, she sucks in a deep breath.
Hinata leans forward to press her lips to Sasuke’s. It’s a close-mouthed kiss, it’s short, and it is not romantic.
But then the hand that was beckoning her finds the back of her head and keeps her there, and a little gasp escapes her for it.
She does her best not to activate her byakugan, the overwhelming desire to close his main chakra point creeping up on her as his lips move against hers.
When she’s finally able to shove that urge back, she chooses to focus on how his lips feel against hers. She’s not the most experienced in kissing outside of a few clumsy moments as teenagers, but even she has to admit Sasuke might actually be…good at it. He’s not too rough in the way she feared boys would be, but he’s not entirely gentle, either. His lips move naturally against hers, and they’re soft, slick, and…strawberry flavored?
Does Sasuke Uchiha use strawberry-flavored lip balm?
The thought is quickly squashed when a panicked voice calls out. “HINATA?!”
Then Sasuke is being torn away from her, and her eyes fly open to find her cousin’s cascading, long brown hair towering over him.
“Neji!” she gasps out, eyes landing on his veiny ones, looking ready to seal each and every one of Sasuke’s chakra points.
“Just what in the hell do you think you’re doing, Uchiha?” Neji snaps, one foot coming to rest on Sasuke’s chest. Hinata whips her head around to see Tenten, mouth covered in shock, and Lee, who is quickly coming up behind Neji in an attempt to subdue the man.
Sasuke smirks smugly up at Neji, propping himself up on his elbows. “Kissing my fiancée. What are you doing, Hyūga?”
Neji stops at that, and Hinata swallows, chest feeling horribly tight.
"Neji…" Lee's voice calls him back, and Neji turns his head to meet his eyes with Hinata’s. The veins around his eyes relax, but he's still glaring.
“Hinata?” Neji’s asking for clarification, and she has no choice but to give it to him. Neji is aware of the marriage, but obviously has no clue about this plan Sasuke has concocted.
She clears her throat, and pulls her shoulders back, projecting confidence. "He’s right, Neji. I was kissing my…fiancé.”
With that Neji removes his foot, but not without shoving it into Sasuke’s chest briefly, causing him to groan and clutch at it. He moves away from Sasuke and turns his body to her. He comes closer and leans over her, in a hushed voice. “Really, Hinata?”
Her lips press into a line as she nods, quickly. He sighs, shaking his head.
“I didn’t think you’d cozy up so quickly,” he whispers, eyes darting to the side to catch Sasuke’s conceited look as he pulls himself to his feet. He returns to her. “Very well. Just…will you be a little less…”
“Horny about it?” Tenten interjects. Hinata recoils, not realizing she had flanked her from the other side. “Don’t give your poor cousin a heart attack.”
“I apologize.” Hinata bows her head, and she knows her face is beet red.
“Come.” Sasuke holds out an indolent hand for her between the two, and Hinata bites her tongue at his commanding attitude. No different than when they were children.
Neji tilts his head at Sasuke, his glare never leaving his expression. “Ask nicely, Uchiha.”
Sasuke clicks his tongue, eyebrow perked at the man. Then he looks back down at Hinata and her heart skips at his words, “come with me, Lady Princess Hinata Hyūga, loveliest, most breath-taking woman in the entire Land of Fire.”
Tenten laughs, loudly. Lee looks at him in confusion. Neji breathes an aggravated sigh.
Hinata’s jaw flexes as Sasuke continues, “please. Is that better?”
Neji doesn’t respond, nor does Hinata, but she takes his hand, regardless.
As he leads her away from Team Gai, she tries to control her breathing.
“Now where is it we’re going?” she asks, quietly, letting their fingers intertwine once more. She’s well aware of the questioning stares they’re receiving from the village folk.
“Dinner with the Uchiha,” he responds nonchalantly, not looking back at her, “time to become acquainted with the family again.”
Hinata’s stomach flips uncomfortably.
It had been a while since she’s seen his entire family together.

Let´s talk about Silentshipping
Silentshipping is a shipping from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fandom and describes the pair Seto Kaiba x Serenity Wheeler/Shizuka Kawaii. It is one of my favorite shippings, then and now. So I was rely pissed when I went looking for stuff about the couple and found People hateing around. ~*~
Serenity is too weak and too stupid to duel: Yes. Tea and Mai make a much stronger impression and are better equipped to duel. But if you look closely at the scenes, you can clearly see that Serenity is still a beginner. Insinuating that she's too stupid to duel when she's just learning the game... And yes. She's not particularly strong. But does she have to be that way to get together with Kaiba? And does she have to be good at dueling to have a relationship with Kaiba? However, she saved her brother from drowning and ultimately won the three-way duel against Nezbitt. So she's not just weak. Seto and Serenity only have one interaction in the anime and none in the manga: Yes. They only had one interaction together, where they actually talked to each other. But I prioritize quality over quantity. if we set this convo in contrast with the most popular shipping in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fandom, Puppyshipping Seto x Joey, they acted respectfully to each other. He didn't devalue her, wasn't annoyed by her, nor did he react to her negatively in any way. Seto and Serenity fulfill the cliché of a sweet innocent girl that melts the cold bad boy's heart aka SasuHina vibes: I think it's funny. That most people celebrate ships like Seto X Joey, which for me is the most toxic ship ever, and badmouth Seto x Serenity, because it´s to clicheé. lol Do you know which yaoi ships are always the most popular in every fandom? The hot-blooded, temperamental, goofy guy with the cold-blooded, calculating, emotionally dead guy. Basically, half of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fandom ships the biggest cliché of all. But there is a heteroshipping that is at least as SasuHina-cliche and is also one of the most popular ships with Seto. Bluesshipping Seto x Kisara. Kisara is just as weak as Serenity, but just like her, she has her strong moments. She's just as shy, reserved and sweet as Serenity and fulfills the chichee spirit just as much. Kisara shows that a relationship between Seto and Serenity can definitely work. ~*~ Serenity is pink and sweet, which very few people like. And I won't deny that their relationship fulfills that good girl x bad boy chlichee. You can like it or not. But the ship is not alone on this track. For a beginner, Serenity did well and she may be weak, but she definitely showed strength as well. It may have been just one interaction, but it didn't have a negative impact on their relationship. It looked more like Kaiba had only called the medical team, because of Serenity's request. Which has a positive effect on their relationship. In any case, I don't understand the hate that this shipping has, because for me there are much worse pairings.

OMG! ignore my last message. curiosity took over for me and I read the first chapter of your naruino fanfic and it was HOT.
Hi nonny,
Thanks for stopping by twice! 💕 And also for reading my fic, I'm glad you enjoyed what you read! 😄
I don't think many people here know that I have an on going NaruIno fic on ao3, but in case anyone is interested, it's called Loud Affairs and it has a tiny dash of SasuSaku in the background:
Loud Affairs By: TheRedConverseGirl They were supposed to be working together - scheming and planning - not doing this; getting naked in the middle of the forest, learning techniques that won't help them save anyone's lives. Still, Ino doesn't seem able to stop it, and soon they are both entangled in something they’ve never expected. [Rated E, on going] *NaruIno
I think I should answer your question though, just to give some insight why I like to add NaruIno in my fics and how it started.
The first ask:
I don't mean this in a mean way, but why do you and a lot of other sasusaku ff writers like naruino?😅 the ship is kinda random to me but I more often than not see them paired together in various sasusaku fanfics. (I mean I get their best friends with sasuke and sakura but I just don't feel there's any chemistry between the two). It usually throws me off a bit bc of the immense amount of hate other crack ships like sasuhina get from our fandom.
I don't know about other writers, but my interest really started with a thread on Twitter one day a couple years ago. Before that, I've read many fics where they were side-paired and enjoyed the outcome, but that was about it then.
That day on Twitter, there were a few fanarts shared around and other SasuSaku accounts commenting positive things about it, and those tweets reached me and a few other friends. The fanart was hot and made me think about their aesthetics together. Eventually that week, we were all discussing things along the line: "Two blue-eyed, loud, blonds together, that are best friends with Sakura and Sasuke, and would probably meddle in their relationship and bicker a lot."
From that + more fanarts popping up after, I thought, how can I make this work? Can I make this hot and fun? And then I tried and it worked well enough for me haha. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I really enjoyed dabbling with these two blonds, bestfriends of my OTP. It's a lot of fun! I enjoyed writing a different couple dynamic and interactions, play with their backgrounds and how their friendships influence the relationship. Since then, it became second nature to add them in my stories, like a sister ship. 😉
In the end, I wouldn't say that I really ship NaruIno, at least not like actively reading fics or being extremely dedicated as I am with Sasusaku. I just like them together as a side pairing. They look good - they are aesthetically pleasing together - and are fun!
Anyway, I'm a ship and let ship person, and I hope this doesn't throw anyone off here. 😊
Thanks again for reading and sending your questions. 🤍 I'm happy to know I answered them with my fic before replying through here. 😆
Hope you have a wonderful week! 😁
Stay Safe,
xoxo

I've read that response of yours to that anon hating on the NejiHina ship and I must say that I applaud you for your answer. Truly well done. 👏
Although personally I am a huge NaruHina fan, I do support other ships for Hinata (like SasuHina, GaaHina, just to name a few) but you were one of the content creators that actually opened my mind to give the NejiHina ship a chance. And I do like what I'm seeing.
(Although I did actually sense the possibility of that ship too because of the Naruto SD/Rock Lee series - how Neji and Hinata interacted there did show potential chemistry between the two - in a romantic sense. Neji's overprotective nature in that series went beyond as to what one may think as something "brotherly" IMO.)
And yes I agree that pretty much until that point of their generation, inbreeding is common or could have been the main way for the Hyugas to reproduce as well as to make sure their dojutsu is inherited by the coming generations (It could have been a similar case as well to other clans like the Uchihas before).
And as you said, these are FICTIONAL characters. People can do whatever they want with them and it doesn't necessarily mean that whatever their preference is when it comes to shipping these characters also reflect to what they prefer IRL.
So keep creating/supporting the NejiHina ship, I absolutely adore your works. I follow you both here and in Pixiv. Your artstyle is so beautiful.
Thank you so much for your support and for such a detailed comment!
NejiHina captivated my heart almost immediately when I saw them and there was no turning back, so it was always especially interesting for me to listen to the opinion of those who enjoyed other ships with the characters first and then gradually discovered NejiHina as a romantic ship for themselves. I have no goal to proove to everyone that NejiHina is the best ship and that everyone should ship them, they have never been a ship for everyone, but I am very glad that my arts helped you to take a different look at the characters. I draw Neji and Hinata as I imagine them myself, and I am very happy that there are people who can share such an interpretation of characters with me. Thank you for sharing your story!
Rock Lee SD is an amazing spin-off, I found out about it and watched it relatively recently, in February 2021, when I started drawing NejiHina again, and I just fell in love with this series. I understand that it's not canon and it's just a comedy show, but it devotes a lot of time to secondary characters and I really enjoy watching how they interact with each other. I really miss this in canon. And for a NejiHina shipper, Rock Lee SD is a real treasure box.

Serendipity (Ch 1)

Sasuhina Month Day 1: Beginning of Us
Read on FF.net
“Sunagakure was nice last time I visited, I never would have thought that a city in a desert would be so pleasant. Mayor Gaara really is exceeding all expectations...” Sasuke tried not to let the boredom show on his face. Unfortunately, Satoshi Nakada was an important supplier to Uchiha Corporations, and pissing off business partners would not help Sasuke convince his father to give him more responsibility.
Sasuke hated these corporate functions, hated being forced to rub elbows with people he couldn’t care less about. Everyone was boring, irritating, or loud -- usually all three -- and often became even more so after a couple of drinks. Even worse, it was so easy to get trapped in a boring story that went on and on, leaving Sasuke unable to extricate himself without looking rude.
Lucky for him, a young man wandered over, wine glass in hand, brimming with nervous confidence. He looked fresh out of school, and was probably desperate to develop some industry connections. The rookie introduced himself to Sasuke and Nakada, who looked like someone who had just woken up from a trance. Sasuke smiled and patted the newcomer on the shoulder. “Well, I have to, uh, get some more appetizers, so I’ll leave you two to get acquainted.” Having found a suitable sacrifice, Sasuke made a beeline for the back door.
Sasuke’s father expected him to represent the family company, so Sasuke couldn’t just leave like he wanted to. He had, however, discovered that he could duck away to an empty corner and wait until the function was almost over before re-emerging and pretending he had been there the entire time with no one the wiser. Empty rooms were risky -- Sasuke learned the hard way that middle-aged adults could be just as horny as teenagers -- so he wandered around outside until he found the perfect spot: a slight bend in the building surrounded by tall hedges that could hide him from view while still providing good visibility to the guests passing by. The only problem with this hiding spot was that it was already occupied.
“Get out,” Sasuke said before he could stop himself. The girl stared at him with wide pale eyes that glowed in the moonlight. She had dark hair and pale skin and wore what looked like a light purple cocktail dress, though it was hard to distinguish the color in the dim light. Sasuke forced himself to soften his tone. “I mean, can you please leave.”
The girl raised an eyebrow. “I-I was here first.”
Sasuke’s left eye twitched. “Surely a lovely lady like yourself has people looking for you. I can walk you back to the party if you want,” he said with a smile that had previously dazzled many other women into acquiescing to his demands.
“I-I could say the same to you,” the girl sniped back, her defiant words at odds with the way she nervously tapped her fingers together. “Why don’t you head back and I’ll stay here.”
Sasuke dropped all polite pretenses and scowled. If he couldn’t charm her into leaving, then he’d just have to chase her away. But before he could make a cutting comment about the girl’s looks or obvious awkwardness, they were interrupted by the sound of thunderous steps and of exuberant voices.
“That’s it Lee! Let the power of youth propel you to the finish line!” Sasuke hurriedly stepped into the alcove, squeezing himself between the girl and the wall. The girl squeaked at the sudden proximity, but Sasuke paid her no mind, more concerned about hiding himself from the new arrivals. Through the half cover of the hedges, Sasuke could see the twin forms of Might Guy and Rock Lee stampeding down the path on their hands. When they reached the birdbath, located right next to where Sasuke and the girl were hiding, the two leapt to their feet and clasped hands. “Amazing Lee. You’ve improved leagues since I last saw you.”
“It is only due to Guy-sensei’s support and dedication that I am where I am now. Guy-sensei’s coolness is a constant inspiration,” Lee exclaimed, his smile appearing to be a light source all on its own.
“Let us celebrate your achievement with another hundred laps!” The two green-suited fanatics dashed off down the path again, kicking up a trail of dust behind them.
Sasuke breathed a sigh of relief. “I can’t believe those two are still invited to these things,” he muttered.
“The mayor likes them, it would look bad if they weren’t invited. Besides, they’re very nice once you get to know them.” She was leaning awkwardly against the wall, her body angle away from him. Sasuke suddenly became painfully aware of how close they were. He could smell her lavender perfume and make out the silvery flowers stitched into her dress.
“I thought they were invited because Tsunade gets a kick out of watching them challenge people to push-up contests.”
“...Maybe that too,” she said with a smile, revealing small dimples on both sides of her mouth. She had a nice smile, Sasuke thought idly before frowning. Why had he thought that? He wanted her to leave after all.
“If you enjoy their company so much, why don’t you go join them when they come back around.”
“Alright,” she agreed, to his shock. “I’ll introduce you too. I’m sure they’d be thrilled to meet you.”
“I don’t think that’s necessary,” he said quickly. Watching the duo from a distance was already overwhelming, interacting with them up close might fry his green color receptors and a couple of brain cells along with it.
“Then I suppose we should just stay put then,” the girl said, and Sasuke grudgingly admitted defeat. There were worse people to be stuck behind a hedge with, he supposed. Just then, Satoshi Nakada stumbled down the path, gripping a poor waiter’s arm for support, slurring loudly about his younger days.
“Looks like this party might be starting to wrap up soon,” Sasuke commented once the old man and his hapless victim had passed.
“Nakada-san’s only started talking about his first business deal, there’s a few more hours to go I think,” the girl said. Sasuke chuckled, startling them both. He hadn’t expected that.
“He spent so much time talking about his recent Suna trip today, he might not have started drinking until later. The timeline’s probably pushed up.”
The girl inclined her head. “Maybe. But Shikamaru-kun is coming out for a smoke now.” She gestured at a faraway figure who was taking a drag on a lit cigarette. “If the event was wrapping up, his mother would have dragged him back in.”
“Nara’s more than capable of giving his mom the slip,” Sasuke argued. “This might be his second round.”
“Then what about Tsunade-sama? She’s still inside, so she hasn’t had the time to get drunk yet.”
“Everyone’s working double time to make sure we don’t get a repeat of last month’s fiasco. She might not even get trashed this time.”
And so their conversation went, with the girl raising one proposal after another for why it was still early, and Sasuke finding ways to shoot it down. It was comfortable, engaging, and even, dare he say it, fun. What a strange thought. These parties were formal, a way to make connections, an obligation that Sasuke had to go to whether he wanted to or not. At best it was satisfying to walk away with a new business partner. They were never fun.
The game was interrupted by a lone female figure walking down the path shouting “Nee-san! Stop hiding and come out. Father’s looking for you.” She was short, with brown hair and a silvery-white gown. They watched her walk past in silence. When she disappeared down the bend, the girl sighed.
“Looks like you were right, the party is wrapping up.” She moved to leave their little hiding spot, but glanced back at him, lips quirking upward in a small smile. “It was good to meet you, Uchiha-san.” She hurried down the path after her sister.
Sasuke stood there, by himself. He’d gotten his wish, the hiding spot was his. But it was darker and quieter than it was before. Sasuke stood there, annoyed that she had known who he was but he hadn’t even gotten a name. With a huff, Sasuke left the hedge too, and headed back towards the party. His father was probably looking for him.

Souffles and Love - Sasuhina Month 2020 - Day 6
Chef AU
The maître d’ swung by the kitchen to inform him that the last guests for the night had arrived. They would not be accepting any more diners for the evening. As a two Michelin star restaurant, they needed tables to be reserved weeks in advance.
Sasuke finished the final touches of the braised duck before the server picked it up. The new Commis chef had a case of nervous shaky hands that left him with the job of plating. As the Head chef, he had to make sure things run smoothly.
“Last order.”, the expo shouted minutes later. “One Mandarin parfait and One Apple Tarte tatin.”
His pastry chef was an older woman who had more experience than any of them. She promptly got to work on the perfect dessert plates to end the day on a high.
As soon as the last plates went out of the kitchen, Sasuke commended his kitchen staff for their good work. He also had a quick word to the new chef offering him some positive advice in the usual stern manner he was known for. Then, he made his way to the back office. He was expecting his business partner and General Manager Suigetsu to be behind his desk, but the room was unoccupied.
Just as Sasuke turned to go back to the kitchen, he saw Suigetsu walk towards him with a less than pleased expression.
“Ah, Sasuke… I was just looking for you. There’s been an issue, unfortunately.”
Sasuke frowned and asked him, “What issue?”
“One of the diners is not happy with the food. Juugo tried to talk with the customer, but she seemed quite stubborn. Said something about the duck being too dry.”
“What a load of nonsense!! The duck was perfectly cooked, I confirmed it myself.”
Suigetsu rubbed his neck in exasperation. “I know man… I believe you… But our reputation is at stake. Would you mind it terribly to see the lady? She is insisting on meeting the head chef.”
Sasuke snorted with indignation. He was usually very uncomfortable receiving praise and attention on a first hand basis. He’d much rather, they leave reviews on the internet for other people to see. But receiving complaints personally had to be a first. How dare someone try to fault his food? Food that he has spent his sweat and blood to perfect.
“Fine. Take me to her.”, he said with a determined air. He would teach this woman a thing or two about her great food.
Taking off his blue striped apron, he followed Suigetsu to the empty dining hall, which was now being cleaned and prepped for the next day.
“Where is this customer?”, he asked.
“Right this way.”, Suigetsu led him to the corner table behind dark wooden beams.
Sasuke’s steps faltered when he saw his beautiful wife, sitting at the table with a few balloons. He realised he had fallen for a ruse. A perfectly happy ruse. He had not at all expected to see Hinata that evening, since she was not supposed to be back from Paris for the two more months.
She got up from her seat and bit her lower lip with a shy but giddy smile. He could not help the wide grin as he closed the distance between them.
“What are you doing here? When did you get back?”, he asked her but before she could even answer him, he swooped her in impatiently for a passionate kiss. Hinata responded back with the same zeal. Being married for two years and having stayed away from him for almost six months had been brutal for both of them.
When Suigetsu cleared his throat, Hinata pulled away feeling a little embarrassed. Sasuke turned to see that his whole restaurant staff had gathered behind him and witnessed their private moment.
“We haven’t seen each other in very long.”, the excuse spilled out of his mouth before he could stop them. “Not that it’s any of all your business.”
Most of them snickered behind their palms. It wasn’t everyday that their boss was flustered. When Sasuke faced Hinata again, she held a plate with the warm soufflé ramekin up to him. It had a very thin lit candle in the centre of it.
“I’ve made you a birthday soufflé.”, she quipped.
Someone dimmed the lights in the restaurant, and he could not take his eyes off the radiant smile on her face. All the stress from the day had vanished, and all he could feel was immense joy. If he had been anyone else, he might have jumped up the table and danced.
But Sasuke being Sasuke nodded and hid his emotions behind a tight lipped smile. “Hn… What kind?”
“Tomato and cheese.”
He grunted in approval and clasped his hands behind his back.
“Happy birthday Sasuke!”, she wished him as her eyes sparkled with an intense emotion that reverberated in his heart.
“Blow on it, and make a wish.”, she reminded him.
Sasuke followed her advice and blew on the single candle, just as everyone clapped. They wished him in unison, but did not break into the birthday song, because Suigetsu had warned them that Sasuke would dash off if they did so.
Everyone shook hands with him and wished him before retiring for the night. Hinata passed on a box of her handmade vanilla buttercream cupcake to each one of them. Suigetsu in particular winked and nudged him before reminding him to exit through the service door.
“Why don’t you take the day off tomorrow? I am sure our Sous chef can handle the kitchen for one day.”, he suggested before leaving. Sasuke said he would think about it.
As soon as the crowd dispersed leaving the couple alone, Sasuke sat beside Hinata and pulled her up to his lap. He nudged his nose at the point where her shoulder met her neck and inhaled her maddening scent, which was a mix of her signature perfume, her own essence and warm vanilla.
Hinata giggled knowing that Sasuke was showing how much he missed her and how happy he was to see her.
“I missed you too…”, she said softly. She lifted his chin to leave a light peck on his nose. “Won’t you try the soufflé?”
“Feed it to me.”, Sasuke demanded in a playful tone.
Sasuke hummed upon his first spoonful. After tasting so many decadent and complex flavours throughout the day, Hinata’s food was exactly what he needed. It was warm, light and airy with a gooey tangy and cheesy centre. Two things that he absolutely loved.
“I’ve said this before and I will say it again… I think you wasted your talents at the bakery you used to work at…”, he said.
“Well, thank you for that back-handed compliment…”, she laughed at his knack for absolute honesty. “And also for letting me do this Pâtisserie course all the way over in Paris…”
Sasuke shook his head. “You deserve it more than anyone else.”
She wound her arms around his neck and pouted, “But I feel like I should do something more to show you how thankful I am.”
“Well, I was thinking…. You could maybe, agree to work with me as a pastry chef here.”
Hinata pretended to think hard about his generous offer.
“Hmmm… Orrrr… I could open up my own pâtisserie… After all, I love interacting with customers and having handsome strangers for loyal customers...”, she teased him by alluding to their meetings before he explicitly asked her out.
He tightened his hold on her and laughed with her. “I’m beginning to think Paris was not such a great idea after all… You seem to be forgetting that you already have me… Which reminds me, when do you have to go back again?”
Hinata bit her lips and tilted her head. “Actually, I’m back for good.”
“What do you mean? You still have a few months left…”
“Not anymore… I-... I didn’t tell you this when you visited me two months back, but I actually changed to an intensive course at the recommendation of my mentor… She thought I could do it, and I agreed because it would cut short my time away from you by three months… “
Sasuke listened attentively but did not comment.
“So, I have officially completed my course… You, sir, have a proper French pastry chef for a wife…”
Sasuke gave her a blinding smile at the revelation. “That’s amazing!!... I’m so proud of you, Hinata!!”
“I was hoping for you to be happy… Because I haven’t had the time to buy you a proper birthday present.”
“You’re being silly… I am ecstatic to have you back... And you don’t need to give me anything at all… Turning 33 does not exactly call for gifts...”
“Hmm… “, she turned shy and played with the collar of his black chef’s jacket. “Not even a small one… Like a really really small one…”
“Is that code for something kinky?”, he raised an eyebrow, excited by the prospect.
She smacked him playfully on the chest. “No, it’s code for ‘I am pregnant’, you pervert.”
Sasuke stared at her wide eyes before engulfing her into a bone crushing hug that left her gasping.
“Easy... Pregnant women here…”, she chuckled.
“This is the best birthday ever.”

Readers‘ engagement on AO3
This time it will be less scientific, and more like me writing down my stream of consciousness. But the methodology was really straight-forward, so I think I can spare us the details, and I wanted to show you a detour I made trying to untangle the reasons behind certain fandom reactions. Join me for a trip?
AO3 is rather infamous for its lack of readers engagement (see all the initiatives supporting the commenting: @ao3commentoftheday, @longlivefeedback), at least among the fics and writers I am in contact with (and I do pay attention to the stats, you can believe me 😉 ). Nevertheless, some people feel very comfortable on this platform and for quite some time already I wondered what leads to such diametrically different writers’ experiences.
I started with analyzing Comments for Sakura’s ships. Since I did the same analysis for four Sakura’s ships: SasuSaku, NaruSaku, KakaSaku and MadaSaku on ff.net, we can have a direct comparison, especially as the time scope of existence Pairing Option and AO3 as a platform are very similar, and fic numbers are also comparable.
Very briefly: I sorted the fics into the following bins: >500 Comments, 201-500 Comments, 101-200 Comments, 51-100 Comments, 21-50 Comments, 11-20 Comments, 6-10 Comments, 2-5 Comments, 1 Comment, 0 Comments. All data are presented in percentage to allow for comparisons between the ships.
So let’s dive in:
Tumblr media
On the first glance the graphs look peculiar: there is always sort of a double maximum for “0 Comments” and “2-5 Comments” divided by a minimum for “1 Comment”. But once we remember that the Comments on AO3 include also author’s responses the situation becomes clear: the majority of fics have 2 comments: namely 1 real Comment from a reader and one answer from the author.
To put this hypothesis into a test I checked how many fics have 2 Comments, and it is 316 out of 839 of SasuSaku fics in “2-5 Comments” bin, 84 out of 204 fics for NaruSaku and 104 out of 315 fic for KakaSaku – which gives always ca. one third of comments in the “2-5 Comments” bin.
At that point I deliberated for a while whether I should modify my bins to include “2 Comments” as a separate category, but I opted out of it for the sake of (future) comparisons with ff.net (and because I think by bins are very good, thank you).
As a side note: on the first 4 graphs we can also see that MadaSaku has a different distribution than all the other ships, but it is worth mentioning that it was also an outlier on ff.net. We will come to this later.
Peculiarity of distribution aside – the feedback on 3 main Sakura’s ships is consistently miserable. But, I reasoned, AO3 is famously M/M oriented so maybe the F/M audience is simply not there. Therefore, I set off to check all the Naruto ships in the order of their popularity, which btw is the following:
Tumblr media
So, working down the list we get this:
Tumblr media
And, WTF Naruto fandom? Most of the fics for hugely popular, established ships have no comments??!! Or one comment and an answer from the writer??!!
That was a really disappointing exercise…
Until I found that:
Tumblr media
MadaTobi was the first ship that displayed a different pattern of readers interactions! It has a maximum in “21-50 Comments” per fic which is perfectly decent and corresponds well with the values for the ships I examined before on ff.net.
Encouraged by this discovery I dug further: (And tbh for a moment I thought I have here a “Madara-effect”, since both MadaTobi and MadaSaku displayed encouraging results 😉 )
Tumblr media
But Madara-effect was not the case (HashiMada displays the same distribution as all the other ships) and further data were even more disappointing. (Let me repeat myself: WTF, Naruto fandom?!)
Until I found another instance of good readers’ participation:
Tumblr media
KakaGai! So, at that point we had three ships that were behaving differently than the norm: MadaTobi, KakaGai and MadaSaku.
I looked further to see if I can find more examples of fandom positivity, but, spoiler alert – No. For the sake of appearances lets look at the data though. GaaLee is sort of a borderline case, so let’s flag it as “tentative” for now.
Tumblr media
So, what could be the reason for such a drastically different behavior of distinctive pockets of the fandom? Over the course of last year, I was observing how MadaTobi was rapidly gaining popularity, so that hinted me to follow this line of reasoning.
For each ship, I broke down the fics numbers into years when they were published. I ignored all the fics published in 2020 (because the year has only started and including those data would skew the image). To be able to compare the ships (which vary widely in term of fic numbers) I calculated the percentages of fics published in each year. I.e if a ship had 100 fics published until December 2019 and 30 of them were published in 2019, then 2019 had 30% of all published fics. It was at that point irrelevant how many fics were published in 2020, they weren’t counted either the way. I included only data from 2011 on, because earlier ones are very fuzzy due to back-dating customs that were in fashion at that time (for explanations see here).
Let’s look at the data. Tadaaa!!!
Tumblr media
Isn’t it absolutely beautiful?! (yes, I know!) Does it look like a tangle of knitting yarn? (yes, I know that as well!)
So, let me break it down for you:
Tumblr media
See that, that general trend? This is the growth curve that most of the ships follow – pretty linear, with maybe a bit of acceleration in 2019.
Now let’s focus on outliers: (3 most popular ships: SasuNaru, KakaIru and SasuSaku are included for reference – they illustrate the general trend pretty well).
Tumblr media
The ships that grew more than 30% in 2019 are: SasuHina, MadaTobi, GaaLee, KakaObi, HashiMada, KakaGai, MadaSaku and InoSaku. So, among those eight, 4 (3 obvious, and 1 tentative) are the ones which showed outstanding readers’ engagement!
So, are newer, more energetic parts of fandom also the ones with best readers’ engagement? That would be a very optimistic message… But what about four ships that grew tremendously, but still show very poor readers behavior?
SasuHina is an easy case. If there exist a ship that has a captain, then it is this one. And the captain is @365daysofsasuhina who contributed staggering 438 fics (out of total of 966) to SasuHina! (Seriously, a round of standing ovation, because this is amount of dedication, work and talent that we can all only dream about. Talking about being a change you want to see!). And 90% of that contribution was done exactly in 2019, which explains the growth spurt of the ship. Sadly though, the audience response didn't keep up with the supply of new fics, therefore great many of them remain with very few comments.
So what about the remaining ones: KakaObi, HashiMadara and InoSaku?
Scrolling through the fic lists I noticed that great many of KakaObi fics are written in Chinese, so I decided to look into it deeper.
I analyzed the percentages of Chinese fics for all the examined ships (and percentages of English ones, just in case there was a ship with overrepresentation of some other language):
Tumblr media
And we can see that both KakaObi and HashiMada have a very strong presence of the Chinese fics!
At that point I thought I have it, and proceeded to look at the distribution of Comments for Chinese KakaObi and HashiMada fics. And indeed, the reader’s engagement is sadly, almost nonexistent (165 out of 182 HashiMada fics and 478 out of 630 KakaObi fics have no comments at all). The reasons for that may be multiple; one that come to my mind is that the Chinese readers are still to follow their writers to AO3, or that the fics published recently are in reality not new (which for sure they are not, given the sheer amount of them) and received already their share of feedback on other platforms.
But, even if one subtracts the Chinese fics from the overall fics, the distribution remains the same! ☹ KakaObi and HashiMada still display the standard Comment distribution, despite having grown 45% and 41% in the last year!
Tumblr media
It looks a bit better, but still follows standard, not very flattering trend of most of other ships.
So, then I thought that maybe if I subtract the Chinese fics the sudden growth in 2019 will disappear?
Tumblr media
The answer is unfortunately, no. The growth spurt is still there, language independent.
So, at this point I don’t know... I am convinced that there is some effect coming from the influx of Chinese fics, but I cannot put my finger on it. (It is also a beautiful example of how correlation does not equal causation.) I also have no explanation for InoSaku behavior…
Nevertheless, I think it is possible to draw some conclusions, and those conclusions are of vital importance for the health of fandom as it is currently on the move from ff.net to AO3. And I would hate to see the good habits that are in place among ff.net readers getting lost during this move!
It seems that the readers response is better in the pockets of fandom that experience rapid growth, which in itself is very positive news. But one would think that the entirety of Naruto fandom is experiencing such growth (as the fandom is moving to AO3, remember…?). Unfortunately, it isn’t the case.
There can be yet another factor in play: namely the question if the ship is well represented on ff.net, and most of the ships are. Let’s take a final look at our three outliers: MadaTobi, KakaGai and MadaSaku.
Quick look into ff.net (by quick look I mean: sum of two main Ship Names plus Pairing Option minus fics that were double-tagged) shows that there are 174 KakaGai fics, 132 MadaTobi fics and 230 MadaSaku fics (my carefully calculated MadaSaku fic number was 232 in December 2019, so now I believe this number will be slightly higher).
MadaTobi and KakaGai are definitely underrepresented on ff.net (though MadaSaku is not). Therefore, new fics are not being published on ff.net in parallel to AO3, but rather on AO3 exclusively. It is a speculation only, but maybe if readers are given a choice between commenting on ff.net and on AO3, they are choosing the older platform.  That would imply that the authors who make a complete move can still count on feedback, as with absence of ff.net-uploaded fics the readers would have only one place to comment on. At least that’s my hope…
And finally, dear Naruto fandom – step it up. Those numbers are a shame, and I know that people can do better than this.

Dance with the Devil
Genre: One-shot, Romance Rating: T Sasuhina Month 2020 Theme: Day 8 (Dance with the Devil)
A/N: Part of my one-shot series for Sasuhina Month 2020. You can read the other parts by going on my profile and clicking the fanfiction tab. They’re not written in a particular order since they are one-shots that are supposed to work as stand-alones, but there are hints here and there about when and where things take place. Anyways, hope you enjoy!  Warnings: Mentions of death.
@sasuhinamonth (In case this doesn’t show up in the tags)
Sasuke did not know when it had started.
Perhaps it had started as early as seven, when his older brother had murdered his entire clan.
Perhaps it had begun when he first defected from the village in search of power.
Or perhaps it had occurred after the Fourth War finally ended, leaving a crumpled world behind.
He did not know.
But Sasuke had gained a reputation ever since he had returned to Konoha.
“ Devil.”
When he walked the streets, he would hear whispers from those that recognized him. They would clear the streets, but he would still hear their panicked voices in fear of his presence. He didn’t mind though. In fact, he had grown used to the nickname.
It allowed him to enjoy his own life in solitude without the worry of interacting with people he didn’t care to interact with. After years of being tormented by the death of his family, Sasuke had finally felt a bit of peace in his life. When the war had finally ended, Sasuke had decided to travel across the land. He explored the world and embraced the things he had learned during his travels. But after two years of travelling, he had felt it was time for him to go back to Konoha.
The place where he had once called it home.
A month had already passed when Sasuke had quietly settled back into the Uchiha estate. Though he had come back in silence, the news of his return had spread loudly across the village. Before he knew it, the civilians had already become afraid of him.
Though they did not outwardly reject him, Sasuke knew they did not accept him. In their eyes, he was a monster. He was a monster who had a part in igniting a war that had ended up killing many people. As long as he had the blood of the Uchiha running through his veins, the people would always be afraid of him. It was something he had learned to accept.
He remembered Itachi’s last wish before he had died. His older brother who he had hated years before the truth had been uncovered, wished for Sasuke to protect Konoha. Though it was Konoha who were the true cause to the Uchiha’s demise, Itachi had still wished for the village to be protected. He could not understand the reasoning behind it. Even after travelling for two years to find the answer, Sasuke still couldn’t quite understand his brother.
But he knew that innocent people did not deserve death, and they did not deserve another war. It was something that Sasuke realized during his travels. As long as there were innocent lives that existed, it was the job of the shinobi to preserve and maintain the peace that surrounded them.
So Sasuke spent most of his time training and working.
He would take on mission after mission. If he was not on a mission, he would be found quietly training on the open fields in the outer areas of the village or within the gates that surrounded the land owned by the Uchiha. The world may have been at peace now, but Sasuke refused to become stagnated.
“ Sasuke-kun!”
A soft voice greeted him.
She had long dark hair that always flowed with the wind. Her skin was as beautiful as the winter snow. With soft pink lips and lavender tinted eyes that reminded him of the moon, she would give off an ethereal presence no matter where she went. She was the only woman that was unafraid of him.
Hinata Hyuga.
His secret penpal during his two year absence front the village.
She was a mysterious one. It was she who had come to him two years ago as she grieved over the death of her cousin, whom she had thought of as a brother. It was her who had requested to exchange letters with him sometime during one of his visits to Naruto. He could never really tell what she was thinking despite wearing her emotions on her sleeve.
Yet he had gone along with everything she did.
“ Are you ready?” He asked.
She nodded her head in response.
And an exchange of blows began.
Truth be told, Sasuke did not mind the woman. Perhaps it was because of their shared pain in losing their brothers that he had understood her irrational actions. It was a desperate attempt for comfort in order to forget the bitterness in their hearts. So he allowed her to have her ways. Even when she had run to him in order to ask that they trained together from time to time, he had allowed it. Hinata never tried to take advantage of his yielding attitude towards her, so he continued to go along with her in return. It was a silent arrangement that worked in both their favors.
Each kick was met with an arm. Each punch was met with a leg. There was no chakra involved nor did they use any jutsu. It was just a physical fight between two users of taijutsu, a combative form of martial arts. It was an agreement they both had made because they understood that anything more would have put her at a disadvantage. The Hyuga were known for their prowess in taijutsu since it was integral with their Bakugan, so they both had decided this would be the training they would do together.
Sasuke was strong, perhaps the strongest person alive in the world, but that was only if he was allowed to use his powers in full. Without them, his power was greatly cut, though that did not mean he was weak. He was still plenty strong without them. That was what training was for after all.
However, Hinata Hyuga was something else.
She lived up to her name as the once former heiress of the clan. Though she was no longer able to become the next clan leader for reasons he did not know, Sasuke knew that she was strong. Though Sasuke was stronger, he was impressed at her strength. Her taijutsu was almost evenly matched against him. What he made up in pure brute strength, she countered it with experience.
It often resulted in an elegant dance between the two.
“ Are you not afraid of me?” He suddenly asked out of curiosity.
Another exchange of blows occurred.
She must have been surprised at his sudden question; he had managed to hit her back, knocking her over a bit. Though it only took a few seconds for her to regain her lost balance before returning his blow with a kick knocking his legs down. Without any hesitation, she looked at him straight in the eye.
“ I was never afraid of you,”
Another kick. Another punch. Another block.
“ Even if I am the Devil himself?”
This time Hinata gave him a smile. She knew of the reputation the villagers had spread about him.
“ Even if you are, I’ll gladly continue this dance with you.”
It was all Sasuke needed to hear to understand the hidden meaning behind her words. Though everyone else may have called Sasuke the Devil, she didn’t seem to care. In her eyes, he was just a man who had suffered too much and needed a sense of peace in his life. In his eyes, she was just a woman who needed comfort to grieve over the death of a loved one. Hinata had made a choice to seek him out, while Sasuke had made a choice to welcome her in his own ways. It was a strange relationship that only the two of them could comprehend. And though Sasuke was not one for words, their sparring sessions were always more than enough for the two to share an understanding with each other.
After all, it was the only kind of dancing they both knew how to do.

[ @sasuhinabigflash2020 || Day Eleven: Total Silence ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata, Hyūga Hiashi ] [ SasuHina ] [ Verse: Divine Light ] [ AO3 Link ]
[ Previous ] [ Next ]
Noise, noise, there’s always only noise.
No matter how many times she tells her father she hates these social gatherings and publicity preening parties, he still strong-arms her into coming. You’d think as an adult herself now she’d finally find the guts to tell him no, but...well, a childhood and teenage years of a controlling parent that forced obedience through a constant threat of removing what you hold dear birthed a fear of that power still lingering after maturity.
...or so she tells herself.
Hinata Hyūga knows she’s mostly just a pushover no matter who it is she’s dealing with. Whether it’s her father, or her cousin, or even her little sister. Making waves and starting arguments just...isn’t in her skillset.
Hence why, more often than not, she ends up at her father’s obnoxious gatherings. His business in the medical technology industry means rubbing all the right elbows. And while Hinata’s choice to pursue journalism isn’t exactly in line with his expectations or standards, he still portrays her in the best light he can...in order to make himself look better.
And through all of that, his company...and its stocks.
For most of her time at these get-togethers, Hinata sticks to the walls, socializing only when necessary and otherwise trying to be as unnoticeable as possible, and evade such interactions in the first place.
But for some reason...tonight is just more than she can handle.
Not only is there music pulsing through speakers, but conversations, laughter, and even some shouting fill the air to a staggering degree. Ugh, she can feel a headache coming on...maybe she’ll just -
“Hinata.”
...wonderful.
Turning to her father, Hinata forces a smile. “Yes?”
“I’ve been talking to a young up-and-comer who would like to speak to you about a possible piece you could write about his company.”
She blinks. “...a piece?”
“Yes, a degree of publicity to help him get things off the ground. Say a few nice words, interview him...that sort of thing.”
Immediately, something in Hinata’s stomach churns. This sounds a lot like a piece of bribery, and that’s the last thing she wants to get herself into. “I...could look into it.”
“He’d like to speak to you now.”
Oh no...no, not now. Not with her head spinning and senses overloading. “I...I’m sorry, I’ve been fighting a headache, and -”
“It will only take a few minutes, Hinata.”
“Could -? Could you give him my email, and I’ll just -”
“No, now.”
The brazen order actually makes her catch herself in a lurch. Her vision is swimming, her skin feels clammy - she has to get out of here, now.
So, without a word, she holds up a hand and just...stumbles forward toward the door.
“Hinata…? Where do you think you’re -?”
For once in her life...she ignores him. With a push, she urges the door open and steps out into the cool air of the city evening. It washes over her like a relieving tide.
But it’s not enough. If she doesn’t move, he’ll just drag her back inside.
So she flees.
Turning to the right, she keeps on down the sidewalk, heels clicking. Thankfully she’s so used to them, even an unsteady gait born of dizziness doesn’t twist her ankles. A few curious passersby give her strange looks, but none make to stop her.
Good.
It’s late enough most other doors are locked and lights out, but by some grace she finds a place alight and open. An old brass handle turns in her hand, letting her into...wherever. At this point, it doesn’t matter. Anywhere is better than there.
Once in, she pushes the portal closed, leaning against it and heaving a weary sigh.
...and then notices something odd.
It’s completely and utterly silent. Such a change from her prior surroundings, her ears begin to ring.
Lifting her head, she takes in the building properly. At first glance, it appears to be nothing more than a second hand or antique shop. The building itself is also old, with crown moulding and rich wooden floors, worn but shining. The smell of old paper permeates the air.
Feeling almost like she’s stepped into another world, Hinata then realizes the door has a glass panel, through which she can be seen. Hefting upright, she moves between rows of shelves to better hide herself from view. And, with nothing else to do, she starts looking through the merchandise.
In truth, it...doesn’t look like much. Random knick knacks, decor, old-fashioned tools and kitchenware. It’s like someone went through every grandmother’s house and looted them, putting whatever they can find into the bins and rows.
It’s...bizarre, and not at all what she expected to find on the same street as the fancy hotel her father almost always rents for his parties. But at least that means it should be one of the last places Hiashi or his goons think to look for her. She walks slowly down the aisle, wondering if something might catch her eye while she’s here.
“...what are you doing?”
Jolting with a gasp, Hinata turns to see she’s no longer alone. At the head of the aisle where she came from, a man about her age eyes her almost suspiciously.
What an odd way to treat a customer, but...well, on second thought, she’s a little overdressed to be shopping for...whatever this stuff is.
“I, um…” How to explain…? “Someone was...following me, so I stepped in. Are...are you open?”
“...yes,” he replies after a pause, clearly weighing her story. “Are you all right?”
“Oh, yes - I’m fine. I’m sure they won’t think to look for me in -” She catches herself, not wanting to be rude. “...here.”
That earns a hint of a snort. “Well...I’m open another half hour, so...stay as long as you like until then.”
“Thank you…” She watches him turn back and vanish from view.
A nagging in the back of her mind sees her follow.
“May I...ask what your store is called? I, um...I m-missed the sign on the way in…”
“Curiosities.”
“...is -? Is that the whole name?”
“Did you expect something more?” he counters, stepping behind a register at the rear of the room.
“I...guess I didn’t know what to expect.”
He leans on his arms, looking her over. “...I find things that are unwanted, and try to find the person who’s meant to want them,” is his cryptic explanation.
“People look for -?” Again she cuts off, realizing she’s...about to be very rude. “...I’m sorry. I’ve, um...I’ve never been to an antique shop before…”
“That’s not exactly what this is, but...a close enough guess.”
Something about his refusal furrows her brow. Is he...hiding something? “How do you find these...curiosities?”
“Most are happenstance. Some I look for specifically. Though those sorts of wares are kept in the back.”
“Because they’re...valuable?”
“To the right people, yes.”
Another pause at his odd reply. “...I should introduce myself,” Hinata then backpedals. “I’m Hinata. Hinata Hyūga.”
“Sasuke Uchiha. And what do you do for a living that’s clearly above the par of a humble shopkeeper?”
His jab makes her go pink. “...I’m, um...I’m a journalist.”
“Hm...you have the air about you. Maybe that’s why you ended up here.”
“...I beg your pardon?”
“It’s Curiosities,” he replies, a grin curling one corner of his mouth. “Only people who are looking for something tend to find their way to my little shop. And journalists are always looking for something. A new story, a new point of intrigue.”
“Well, this...place is rather intriguing,” she agrees, glancing around again.
“One way to put it, yes.”
“As is the man behind the counter.”
His smirk seems to grow, and for a flicker of a moment, as his head tilts, Hinata swears there’s a ruby-red shine to his otherwise dark eyes. “I’d argue that my wares are the true point of interest, but...I can’t deny another’s observations.”
Suddenly, Hinata feels her inner writer coming out. “So...is this a family shop?” she asks casually.
“You could say that. It’s been in the line for quite some time.”
“Anyone else help run it?”
At that, Sasuke seems to hang up for a moment, and an unreadable look passes over his face. “...no, just me.”
“...was that a bad question?”
“No. I...had an elder brother, but...he passed some time ago.”
Shocked sympathy wilts her features. “...I’m so sorry.”
“It’s in the past. Feels like it was centuries ago now, but...well, even old scars can ache.”
She mutes for a long moment. “...seems awfully quiet.”
“Yes, my clientele tends to be...sporadic. Or by appointment.”
“Appointment?”
“People call looking for something in particular, and I...acquire it. We then arrange to meet.”
In spite of herself, Hinata gives a soft laugh. “Sounds suspicious.”
“Any business dealing is, in the right light. But I can assure you, it’s all perfectly legal.” His smile begins to return.
Opening her mouth to speak again, Hinata hesitates as a buzz sounds in the little handbag she’s miraculously kept ahold of. “Oh, sorry...my phone…”
“No apology needed.”
Bringing up her mobile, Hinata grimaces at her father’s name.
“...unwanted conversation?”
“Unwanted lecture,” she sighs, muting it. Guilt and apprehension grow, but...she’ll find some excuse. Her headache is gone, but...well, Hiashi won’t have to know that. “Still, I...should probably be going. It’s getting late, and...I’m doing l-little more than pester you.”
“Pester away. As you said, it’s quiet...a bit of conversation is nice now and again. Perhaps you can do a proper piece about the place another time, since you seem to find it so curious.”
His quip earns a laugh, then a pause. Right...there’s that other piece her father wants her to write.
...she’ll think about that in the morning.
“It was nice to meet you, Sasuke. Um...thanks for letting me hide out in here,” Hinata then offers sheepishly.
“Of course. I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting a gown-clad maiden in tonight, but...you’d be surprised what other sorts of characters I end up with in here.”
“You’ve already sold me on the place, you know,” she replies with a smile. “No need to keep whetting my appetite. I’ll be back.”
“Just being thorough,” he replies, giving a wave as she peers out the door, and then trots back the way she came. “...hm…”
With a trill, a feathery figure alights upon a stand that rests atop the counter.
“Yes, yes...she’s gone. Thank you for behaving yourself.”
A bird of gold and auburn plumage blinks vermillion eyes at him, a small comb of fire flickering along her regal head. But as Sasuke gives it fond strokes, it doesn’t burn him.
“Yet...I wonder…” Looking back to the door, he seems to sink into thought. “It’s very rare we get anyone el’tahl in here. Maybe she has some ven buried in her bloodline, hm?”
In response, the phoenix gives another melodic flow of notes.
“You liked her, did you? Well, that’s all the convincing I need. We’ll have to see how deep she manages to dig when she comes back. But for now, time to call it a night.”
With a snap, the lights extinguish, lock bolting shut at the front. In his hand, an orb of revolving fire lights his way through the back door. Here, objects clearly not meant for unenlightened human eyes glow, spin, float, and hum.
“...how deep, indeed.”
Tumblr media
So this is very late because wow my toothache is...unreal. I’m so sorry, guys. It’s also not what I first envisioned but sometimes characters just veer you off course! I was going to have this be vampire-themed but instead we got...this!      Which is...technically another crossover with a work of my own. DL is mostly a medieval-fantasy sort of world, BUT I do have one story in it so far that’s modern. And Sasuke is being directly crossed with one of the characters, but uh...it’d take a lot to explain and possibly spoil things so we’ll just leave the mystery intact xD      Anyway, I’m...totally exhausted and technically still in pain. Might be going to a dentist tomorrow, no idea, so...I dunno when I’ll get more done since I’m still behind. Thank you for your patience - I WILL finish this event one way or another, it just might be delayed because life things, woo. Buuut on that note, I’ll be heading off. Thanks for reading!

Suigetsu/Hinata or SasuHina!
send me a ship!  SuiHina and Sasuhina were sent by @firestcrm!
SuiHina
vomit / don’t ship / okay / cute / adorable / perfect / beyond flawless / hot damn / screaming and crying / i will ship them in hell
Yknow Jana, writing my Suigetsu with your Hinata a few years ago really struck an interest in this ship for me! I think it’s really cute- Full of situations in which Suigetsu is teasing Hinata to make her blush :’) And Hinata helping him realize his self-worth and vice versa really, I think!
SasuHina!
vomit / don’t ship / okay / cute / adorable / perfect / beyond flawless / hot damn / screaming and crying / i will ship them in hell
I’ve always been a SasuHina person, even if we never got any actual canon interaction between the two, LMAO.  But I also feel like it's a ship that needs a delicate, well-thought-out touch, if that makes sense? While I ship them, I do feel like the circumstances and chemistry have to be just right! Maybe that’s just because I’ve read a lot of bad sasuhina fanfic, though.

SasuHina/one-sided NaruHina
Hello anon! This takes place in a canon divergent au where Naruto drags Sasuke back to Konoha around the time shippuden takes place.
Hinata gives up on a Thursday. There is no particular event that preludes her throwing in the towel. It’s just a normal spring day in Konohagakure, flowers blooming and trees rustling in the wind.
She has just turned sixteen and has finally come to realize that her pining is getting her nowhere. She adores Naruto from the bottom of her heart, his presence like sunshine on a cloudy day, but day after day goes by and he never notices her. He shoots her confused smiles as she tries to talk to him. He offers to see her later and then never follows through. He will look at her when she tries to start a conversation, only to quickly grow distracted by one of the hundreds of things more interesting than her.
Hinata pines and she gives up hope.
“Just because that idiot hasn’t noticed you yet, doesn’t mean that he won’t eventually,” Sasuke tells her one afternoon.
When Naruto had first drug Sasuke back, both of them kicking and screaming, the last Uchiha had kept his distance from the rest of his peers. It was Naruto and Sakura that took him out into the public, showing their support while forcing him to once more become a presence in the village. He was on probation, unable to leave the village, but the Hokage had basically let him off with a slap on the wrist.
Naruto had tried to get Sasuke interacting with their male peers, but as far as Hinata could tell, the only boy he hung out with besides Naruto was Shino. Sakura also tried to get him to hang out with some of the kunoichi their age, but besides her and TenTen, Sasuke mostly kept away from the female population.
It was only by sheer coincidence that Hinata found him lounging beside one of the streams that ran through training grounds.
“I don’t know if I can keep waiting,” Hinata confesses, feeling dejected. She has been waiting for Naruto to notice her as a love interest for over a decade. A childhood crush turned into a first love that is ultimately going nowhere. “He’s not deliberately acting like he doesn’t notice my feelings, is he?” Hinata asks, one of her more prevalent fears coming to the surface.
“He’s just oblivious,” Sasuke dismisses her worries, rolling his eyes. “He doesn’t see what’s right in front of him.”
“I suppose so,” Hinata whispers, subdued. “Maybe there’s something wrong with me,” Hinata muttered to herself.
Sasuke glances at her from the corner of his eye, a frown forming on his face. There’s silence between them for several long moments before he lets out a disgruntled huff, determination lining his face. “Alright, you’re one of the few people I can stand to be around, so here’s what we’re going to do: I’m going to take you out on a date. I’m going to show you that Naruto is just being dumb and that there’s nothing wrong with you. And then we’re never going to speak about this ever, ever again.”
Hinata looked up, stunned, before a blush stains her cheeks. She gives Sasuke a small smile, butterflies in her chest. “I’d like that, Sasuke-kun.”
Sasuke’s cheeks flushed slightly when she met his eyes and he was quick to whip his head around, hiding his face as he stared out at the idyllic view before them.
Hinata continues to smile to herself, a light giggle leaving her lips when she notices the red gracing Sasuke’s usually pale ears.

SHIPPING INFO     //     ANSWER  THE  FOLLOWING  FOR  YOUR  MUSE(S) SO  PEOPLE KNOW  HOW  SHIPPING  WORKS  ON  YOUR  BLOG.   REPOST.   DON’T REBLOG.
1. WHAT’S  YOUR  OTP  FOR  YOUR  MUSE? :
TOBIRAMA — tobimada. it was one of my very first otps in the nart fandom like even before i really knew who either of them were. they just had that frienemies vibe from the very beginning and i love them both so much
MADARA — re: the above
TETSUJIN — i don’t have an otp for him mostly because he’s such a minor character in the series and he doesn’t exactly interact with a lot of other characters rip
JIRAIYA — orojira for sure. i’m just. so gay
HINATA — sasuhina !! very cute lots of room for development
KAGAMI — a bit controversial but tobikaga
INDRA — there are a few ships i like for him but i wouldn’t consider any of them my otp
SHIZUMA — shizakagu. i’m basic
2.   WHAT  ARE  YOU  WILLING  TO  RP  WHEN  IT  COMES  TO  SHIPPING? :
uhh quite a bit methinks, but nothing involving r*pe/abuse/toxicity and all that jazz. not as like a serious ship anyway. like i’m definitely never ever open to writing r*pe, but if we were to have our muses in an abusive/toxic relationship as a plot device in a thread that would inevitably lead to a break up, i think that would be fine. but only as a plot device, never an actual ship-ship.
3.   HOW  LARGE  DOES  THE  AGE  GAP  HAVE  TO  BE  TO  MAKE  IT UNCOMFORTABLE? :
about ten years or so assuming both muses are of age, but i’m still pretty lenient tbh. i will not ship with characters who are under the age of 18.
4.   ARE  YOU  SELECTIVE  WHEN  SHIPPING? :
more or less. i’m only selective in that our muses must have chemistry before we decide to ship them. as long as there’s ample evidence that they could develop romantic feelings for one another, i’m willing to consider it. of course, that “evidence” also includes the willingness of both muns to write them as a ship. even if ic our muses get along swimmingly, there’s a chance i’m just not interested in a ship between them.
5. HOW  FAR  DO  STEAMY  MOMENTS  HAVE  TO  GO  BEFORE  THEY’RE  CONSIDERED  NSFW? :
once it reaches the point of genitals or breasts being implied or mentioned in any way (e.g. “stirring in the loins” or things like that), it needs to be tagged and put under a read more. sloppy makeouts are generally fine as long as they keep their hands at respectable locations.
6.   WHO  ARE  OTHER  MUSES  YOU  SHIP  YOUR  MUSE  WITH? :
TOBIRAMA — izuna, kagami, hinata (tbqh), sasuke??, minato, mito (maybe), mei
MADARA — gaara (believe me i know), sakura, indra,,, deidara ? also mei
TETSUJIN — honestly? tsume if i’m being generous. maybe sasori just a little bit. i really don’t know who would work well with this bastard so hmu if u think ur muse stands a chance
JIRAIYA — iruka i’m sorry
HINATA — ino, sakura, tobirama, kiba, karin(?), toneri (w/ development)
KAGAMI — uhhhh hmu
INDRA — madara, tobirama, sakura (don’t @ me), hinata ?? sure
SHIZUMA — probably. kawaki
7.   DOES  ONE  HAVE  TO  ASK  TO  SHIP  WITH  YOU? :
yes. idc at what point you ask to do it, so long as you ask before you try to force it ic. it can be like you just think there’s some chemistry to be had b/t them and you wanna see where it goes or they’re already writing themselves in that direction and you’re just double checking w/ me. just Ask before you do it that’s all.
8.   HOW  OFTEN  DO  YOU  LIKE  TO  SHIP? :
all the time. it’s not a priority, but it’s one of my preferred methods of escapism and i like exploring all the different ways characters can fall in or out of love. i’m a hopeless romantic at heart.
9.   ARE  YOU  SHIP  OBSESSED  OR  SHIP  MORE - OR - LESS? :
in between. i’m certainly not obsessed with it but i like it a lot like i said above.
10.   ARE  YOU  MULTISHIP? :
yee. i don’t like limiting myself and i’ll never not be multiship.
11.   WHAT  IS  ( ARE )  YOUR  FAVORITE  SHIP(S)  IN  YOUR  CURRENT  FANDOM? :
god uh tobimada, orojira, sasuhina, kakairu, inohina
12.   FINALLY,  HOW  DOES  ONE  SHIP  WITH  YOU? :
like i said before, one need only ask. that is, after we’ve interacted at least a little. and like we gotta be mutuals. that’s it.

[ SasuHinaMonth Day Eight: Twins ] [ @sasuhinamonth ] [ Uchiha Sasuke, Hyūga Hinata ] [ SasuHina, pregnancy mention ] [ Verse: A Light Amongst Shadows ]
He honestly never thought he’d make it this far.
As a child, he’d declared his intentions to restore his clan. Of course, back then, he’d not been fully aware of how precisely to go about it. At twelve he knew the basics of family-making. The A to B of it. But he’d had no plan - no one who meant enough to him to consider making his - eugh - wife. He’d simply assumed that, when the time came, something would work out.
Then everything began to go awry.
Sasuke’s detour into Orochimaru’s tutelage hadn’t been expected. Nearly three years of his life spent after abandoning Konoha alone, save for the other underlings the serpent sannin had acquired.  And when he was no longer useful, Orochimaru was tossed aside, and new sources of power taken up. Hebi - later Taka - was...a difficult thing to put into words. They weren’t his team from Konoha. Nor did he really want them to be. He had a mission, and they were to be tools to accomplish it. Yet despite his best intentions, they still grew to be a cohesive squad...and though he would never admit to it, they grew to mean something to him. But nothing like what he needed for a clan. Karin and her infatuation were...off-putting. He could never picture them as a couple, so he disregarded her.
Reuniting with Sakura after the war was...awkward. It was clear she viewed him in a different light. Not that he could blame her after everything he did. She tread on eggshells despite insisting she was still in love with him. The whole thing seemed far too contradictory, so she too was scratched off his imaginary list.
...though at that point, he really wasn’t sure why he had one anymore. He felt...different. Everything he’d gone through - everything he’d done - made him question if such a normal life would ever be possible. He’d done terrible things in the name of what he thought was right...when in the end, he was largely wrong.
True, the shinobi world had much to atone for - much to change. But he’d gone about it all wrong.
For a time, he’d buried himself in missions, thinking that the high-ranking assignments would help him feel...useful. Like he was making up for his mistakes and helping create the better world he wanted for his - for...future generations. But even that seemed empty.
So instead, he rebuilt the police force. Rebranded it, and called upon his Hyūga allies. Together, the wielders of the village’s most powerful eyes kept watch from within, while his brother and the ANBU did so beyond the walls. He began to reconnect with people again. They grew familiar to him, and he in turn to them. Trust slowly built between the remnants of the Uchiha, and the people of Konoha.
And one person he found himself unable to avoid was Hinata.
No longer heiress, she instead focused on her shinobi career. A jōnin not long after the war’s end, her own tasks grew higher in rank. But with her clan becoming a significant part of the village’s safety, she eventually decided to give it a try.
As chief, it was his task to initiate her. And she did well - far better, admittedly, than he expected. So she too joined the ranks of the force’s officers. Curious, though he would never admit it, he took a few tasks alongside her, just to see how she would do.
Her compassion yet sturdy morals made for a perfect policewoman. Understanding to those who needed help, and unforgiving to those suspected of wrongdoing. The line she drew between the two was well kept.
It impressed him.
But more so was her ability to see him just...as a person. No one special. She treated him with respect for his rank, but nothing else. There were no sidelong glances, as though wondering if he were going to suddenly snap. Though not intimately trusting off the bat, she grew to work with him well, and soon the pair could read one another’s movements and react fluidly, like extensions of the other.
It was that, more than anything, that caught his attention.
He asked to spend some time with her outside a shift. She agreed. It’d been a quiet afternoon, but still speckled with conversation. They quickly discovered parallels in their pasts and paths. Sasuke found himself eager to know more, and she seemed just as curious.
Neither could say exactly when it happened, but it wasn’t long before friendship bloomed into something...different.
And it was then Sasuke knew that - maybe, just maybe - he’d changed enough to give the future he’d imagined as a child another chance.
To everyone’s surprise, their courtship was rather short. They’d grown so accustomed to one another, it seemed pointless to wait. So a mere four years after the war, and less than two since becoming comrades under the police force banner, Uchiha Sasuke married Hyūga Hinata.
And it was only a few months after that, they discovered she was with child.
It had seemed almost...surreal. A child’s naive dreaming over a decade ago was becoming a reality. The clan was growing again. Scarcely able to believe it, he was hit with even more surprising news at a later checkup.
They were having twins.
Agreeing to let the sexes be a surprise, both seemed almost unbelieving. True, her father had been a twin, but Hinata hadn’t expected to have them herself. It would be the second pair in her husband’s clan now.
And it’s now that Sasuke holds his wife’s hand, taking every bone-breaking grip as she works to bring them at last to the world beyond her womb.
The white-haired medic wastes no time or effort, helping speed along the process until two wailing voices filled the birthing suite.
One boy, and one girl. Both with feathery wisps of dark hair...and mismatched eyes, mirrored gazes.
Unprepared for names, the pair decide to wait and think. Once the babes are cleaned and returned to their mother, Sasuke stares with an intense, one-eyed gaze as his hitai-ate covers the Rinnegan. He hadn’t even taken time to change from his gear upon hearing Hinata had been admitted.
“...which do you want to hold first?”
Flickering between them, he wordlessly takes up the boy. A dark eye sits in the left socket, and a pale in the right: opposite his sister. He’d wondered how the bloodlines would interact, but...he’d never expected this.
Letting her daughter nurse, Hinata watches him with a soft, warm smile. Sweat-soaked bangs cling to her brow, dark circles beneath her eyes. As soon as the pair have had their fill, it’s clear she’ll need her rest. “...what are you thinking, Sasuke…?”
His head slowly shakes. “...I can’t...begin to tell you.”
“...are you happy?”
“...more than I could ever say.” Looking up, his expression is so unguarded, he almost looks as childlike as he did when still a genin, eyes alight with both wonder...and perhaps a bit of fear. “...it hasn’t really...sunk in yet. But…” He looks back to his son. “...it’s like...the empty spaces in my chest are...full again.”
His wife softens. “...I’m glad.”
“...thank you...Hinata…”
Word count: 1205      Cumulative: 9561      Goodness, I had a full day irl, but still managed to get this done xD It’s just about midnight, but it still counts as being on time, right?      I’ve actually never made next-gen SasuHina kids, so...honestly these are very spur-of-the-moment. Also hence no names because it’s late and I’d want them to be more thoughtful than tonight will allow, lol      Anyway, not much else to say, I suppose! I’d better skip off to bed soon, but I hope y’all enjoy this latest entry for the ship month. We’ll be back at it tomorrow, time allowing! <3

SasuHina - His Beauty and Her Beast Chapter 4
Got nothing to say other than, hope you like it :)
Kim xxx
For 5 days Hinata lay in her bed at the Uchiha mansion, she had a terrible fever and flu. Sakura helped her each morning to wash and change in to some clean pyjama's as she was lethargic and had little energy. She told her Sasuke had been the one who found her, how worried they all were when she hadn't returned and shushed her when Hinata tried to apologise profusely. Throughout the day Sakura would bring up warm meals for her and chat with her until she fell asleep. Hinata had forgotten how reassuring it was to have friends who helped you in time of need, she would have to find a way to thank Sakura and Sasuke.
Naruto and Sasuke came in to her room also to keep the fire going in her room to keep it warm for her, even though she had a fever she could go from being hot and sweating in one minute to freezing the next. Naruto would talk to her happily as he did so, but Sasuke would remain silent concentrating only on the task at hand and walk out her room again.
On the 6th day Hinata was feeling more herself, her body ached but other than that she felt fine. She managed a shower and to change into her own day clothes before Sakura walked in to her room in the morning.
“Oh good.” Sakura smiled at her and lay a tray of tea on the small table. “How are feeling?”
“Better. Thank you, Sakura, for everything.” Hinata placed her book down beside her on the window seat and looked out the window to see Sasuke and Naruto both hard at work.
“I think one more day of rest should do the trick.”
“Really? I was hoping to-”
“Hinata, don't rush it ok.” Sakura advised. Hinata looked to her lap and nodded her head.
For the rest of the day however Hinata organised and cleaned her room. Tidying the draws and getting rid of all the dust, she swept and moped the floor, cleaned the windows, each trinket glistened and shone in the sunlight streaming through the now clean windows.
Hinata happily sang a merry song as she climbed up the bed post to remove the dirty canopy over it.
“Shouldn't you be resting?” Hinata screamed in embarrassment having been caught singing and fell on to her mattress.
“Sasuke?”
“The door was open.” Sasuke smirked at her. “Sakura asked me to bring you up some soup.” He lifted the tray in his hands as evidence, “Naruto got a splinter, you'd think he'd been fatally wounded the way he goes on about it.” Hinata chuckled half heartedly, she didn't want Sasuke to see the hurt his words had her as they bought back the memories of Neji on the battlefield.
“Um Sasuke...I...I wanted to thank you for...well-”
“It's fine.” Sasuke lay the tray with the steaming bowl of soup, some crusty rolls and piping hot tea on it. “I'm er sorry about your cousin. I didn't know he'd passed away.” Sasuke added.
“Oh...thank you.” Hinata looked at her hands in her lap, and quickly changed the subject. “I...I bought you something actually.” She went rummaging through a bag on the floor. “It was a welcome home present, but well...Now it's more of a thank you one I guess.”
“Hn. You mean I don't get two?”
“Don't be greedy, how unbecoming of a clan head.” Hinata joked at Sasuke while handing over a rectangle navy blue box with a red ribbon wrapped around it.
“What is it?”
“Open it to find out.” She sat on the window seat beside him, keeping a large enough gap between them.
“It's not going to explode out at me or anything?”
“No.” Hinata chuckled, “What presents did you get to make you think that?”
“You don't wonna know.”
Sasuke looked down at the carefully tied ribbon and back at the Hyuga in warning.
“I swear it won't explode.” She chuckled.
Sasuke nodded his head and pulled on the ribbon slowly. As a child he'd been given many gifts mainly off fan girls, all of them he'd thrown in the trash straight away. As an adult, he'd never been given a present before, his reputation put fan girls off now thankfully.
This was why with this gift he took great care in opening it, he wanted to cherish the feeling of opening something. He was aware of the Hyuga watching him and grateful that she allowed him to take his time. If Naruto was beside him he'd no doubt of snatched the gift out of his hands by now and unwrapped it for him. Taking the lid off the navy box Sasuke smiled at the cream book with a black circle and red eye in it's centre.
“The fellowship of the ring.” Sasuke pulled the book from the box.
“To start your reading adventure.” Hinata smiled. “I hope you like it, I saw it when I went shopping with Hanabi.”
“I'm sure I will. Thank you Hinata.”
“Di-Did you just say me by my name?”
“Yeah, it sounded weird, don't be expecting me to say it again.” Sasuke tried to joke. He looked around the room feeling the awkward atmosphere between them. Social interaction was not his strong suit. “Looks good in here.” Sasuke commented trying to fill the gap. “Needs decorating though.” He pointed to a corner where some of the wallpaper was coming away.
“We can concentrate on down stairs first, I think. The kitchen is beautiful, nothing needs changing in there. Maybe a few modern touches here and there, add your own preferences to the sitting room and such.”
“We?”
“Well...If you want...I mean... I decorated my own room back home and-”
“Ok.” Hinata smiled at Sasuke's easy response and leant back against the window.
“Outside looks much better.” She commented.
“It's getting there. I was thinking of hiring a gardener, get it ready for this stupid ball. How about a maze? Then I can tell the old council members to go in there and hope they get lost.” Hinata laughed at Sasuke's mischievous smile. “You think it's too much don't you?”
“A little.” Hinata kept chuckling, “Although if you do go along with that idea remind me to send the Hyuga elders in there with them.” Sasuke chuckled along with her.
“What fun are we missing?” Naruto came walking in the room with his own bowl of soup and Sakura walking behind him with a bowl for herself and Sasuke.
“We're just discussing how to get rid of the people who make our lives a living hell.” Sasuke smirked.
“By making them get lost in a maze.” Hinata added.
“Ha! I thought Sasuke had dragged you to the dark side for a minute there Hinata.” Naruto joked.
“Hinata's too pure for the dark side.” Sasuke said taking the bowl of soup from Sakura's hands. Naruto and Sakura sat on a couple of plush pillows on the floor and each began eating.
“Too pure?” Sakura smiled, “You don't know Hinata like I do.” Sakura spoke between mouthfuls.
“Sakura don't you dare! We promised never to tell anyone!” Hinata's eyes widened knowing exactly what secret of hers Sakura would divulge.
“What have you done that we couldn't know.” Sasuke smirked at the Hyuga.
“N-Nothing.” Hinata blushed.
“She-”
“Don't you dare! Not another word.” Hinata pointed at Sakura. “Otherwise I'll tell them what you did that night too.” Sakura's face blushed as much as Hinata's and quickly closed her mouth.
“Hyuga, you surprise me everyday.” Sasuke smiled to her over his spoon of soup. They each ate in silence after that, looking at one another wondering what secrets they kept. Well apart from Sasuke, they all knew about his dark past, how ironic that he was the only one in the room with no secrets to tell.
As one week turned in to the next the mansion and grounds became more and more liveable. Hinata met with the gardener Sasuke had hired because as soon as he saw Sasuke the poor man nearly wet himself. Hinata suggested a herb garden near the kitchens, so they could use them in the cooking. A grass area, flower beds, there was already a natural lake so that needed cleaning up. Tall Hedges would go around the mansion giving Sasuke privacy, not that he needed it at the moment with an empty district. But Hinata had pointed out the next generation would. He'd liked that, Hinata didn't just see him living there but generations of Uchiha's, his clan restored.
The four of them made a great team together, they easily got along, well apart from when Naruto annoyed the hell out of Sasuke with his whining. Each night after a full day of decorating, cleaning or other responsibilities they chose to do, they had a meal usually prepared by Hinata or Sakura and they would relax in the sitting room.
Tonight was no different Naruto and Sakura played on the new gaming system Naruto had bought and big TV while Sasuke and Hinata read their books.
“Oh come on Sakura! You have to let me win once!” Naruto moaned.
“It's one on one, why would I let you win idiot?! It's not my fault you're crap at this game.”
“Will you two stop bickering.” Sasuke looked his two team mates on the floor.
“Sorry.” They both said in unison and went back to their game.
Hearing a chuckle coming from behind her book Sasuke looked at the Hyuga.
“What you giggling at?”
“I was just thinking how you're like their dad.” Hinata placed her book on her lap. “Telling them off like children.”
“Don't give me nightmares Hyuga.”
“I think I'm gonna go for a walk in the gardens, stretch my legs.” Hinata smiled at Sasuke and placed her book on the side table.
“Don't get lost.” Sasuke called smirking to himself while going back to his book. Feeling eyes watching him he looked over at his two team mates. “What?”
“Nothing.” They both jumped and turned back to their game.
Hinata wrapped her coat tighter around herself, it felt good to feel the fresh air on her face after being in the house all day. There was hardly any wind tonight which made walking all the more pleasant. She noticed the newly laid grass and earth that had been shifted to add more fertile soil to aid the flowers and plants once the gardener was ready to plant them. Bags and bags of soil sat to one side, with a stack of wood beside it and big stones to lay a path.
Hinata strolled past them all and looked at the Uchiha mansion behind her, she smiled to herself seeing the windows looking clean. Soon they would be able concentrate on Sasuke's lessons rather than just cleaning the place up. They still hadn't discussed a date for the ball, but Hinata wanted to make sure Sasuke was ready first.
Noticing she'd walked to the lake Hinata looked over the still and welcoming water, the water clean now. Using her Byakugan she spotted Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura in the sitting room still, wanting to make sure no one could see her. Knowing she was definitely alone she took off her coat and shoes and lay them on the side of the lake where they wouldn't get wet. Sending chakra to her feet she took a tentative step on to its surface, then another, until finally she stood in the centre of the lake. She loved the feeling of the water lapping her toes and often wondered why her nature affinity was fire and lightning, somehow she'd always had a special bond with water. It was able to calm her and clear her head of negative thoughts. As a child she use to dance on the water when no one was watching.
Hinata smiled at the memory and began to swing her arms from side to side, her hips moving on there own with her arms movements. Pulling her phone and headphones from her pocket Hinata played a certain track she'd always loved and was soon swaying from side to side again.
The music began with a long and beautiful melody, and a female voice began to sing. Hinata danced around the lake to the music twisting and turning to the rhythm of the track. Letting go of all inhibitions she stag jumped it to air sending water droplets all around her. Spinning on the spot she created a water sphere around herself, being able to control the water at her feet Hinata moved it in such a way it twirled in to a column of under her feet and pushed her up in to the air.
Hinata released the water sphere around her and it created a level platform for her to move on in a small circle. Where she dipped her hands in the water once more and sent it flying around her.
As the music settled down once more Hinata allowed the water to drop her back to its normal surface level and instead of a column of water she'd created a shape of a man. She tried not to pay too much attention to the fact she'd created a clone to look exactly like her cousin Neji. Instead she  curtsied and the water clone bowed back with a secret smile on his face, he wrapped his hand around her waist and settled it on her back, while Hinata placed her hand on his shoulder, with their other hands they held on to one another. In time with the music they waltzed around the lake in hold. Hinata couldn't help but laugh at how free she felt.
Sasuke sat on the couch reading his book off Hinata, she was right he was actually enjoying it. Being engrossed in another world, the characters, their trials and tribulations. Sasuke frowned and looked around him; Naruto and Sakura were still playing their stupid and loud video game, Hinata had yet to return from her walk. She must have been gone a while now, half an hour? Maybe more? He didn't want to seem like he was worrying about the Hyuga, God knows his team mates would think way too much if he did mention anything.
Snuggling down more into the couch cushion he pulled the book up to cover his face and activated his sharingan. The sharingan gave him the ability to see through the house walls and around the grounds, he couldn't see objects as clearly as the Byakugan but he could detect chakra.
Sasuke could see the two figures dancing on the lake, he could tell which was the original and which figure was the clone by the flow of chakra from Hinata's feet gliding over the surface of the lake where it formed lines almost like a cartoon stick man. He frowned when he saw the way she danced with the obvious male water figure. He didn't know why he felt put out by it, he didn't have a particular affection for her, maybe it was the fact it reminded him of his old team mate Suigetsu. He did however admire her ability to form the water so precisely though, it took great chakra control to do that he'd admit.
He had meant to go back to reading, meant to give Hinata her privacy again but the way she danced so freely held his stare. She moved elegantly over the water, as if she and water were one of the same. Seeing the two figures break apart he watched as they danced away from each other, the chakra at her feet uncoiled like a rope as she pirouetted away. For a while the clone mirrored Hinata's movements until she began to run towards the clone. Suddenly she leapt in the air, right into the chakra enhanced hands of the clone where he lifted her in the air above his head and spun them round in a circle.
“Sasuke? Sasuke?!”
“What!?” Sasuke released his sharingan, moved his book and angrily looked to Naruto on the floor.
“Just wondering if you wanted a turn?”
“As if.” Sasuke frowned and quickly went back to his book.
Hinata took steadying breaths and relinquished her control over the water, watching the water clone Neji disappear back in to the water. She sighed in relief when she felt her chakra suck itself back into her body. She hadn't realised she used so much but she was happy she'd done it.
After retrieving her belongings Hinata walked slowly back to the house, feeling like a weight had been lifted off her shoulder's.
As the end of October approached the four friends were busy during their days still, however now they were hardly seeing one another. Naruto was now helping Kakashi with his paperwork at the Hokage tower. Now most rooms in the house were clean and Hinata starting to decorate the lounge, Sakura didn't feel confident in her decorating skills to 'help' Hinata, and therefore with Hinata's blessing (even though Hinata couldn't understand why Sakura needed her blessing) Sakura began to work shifts at the hospital. Sasuke had 'helped' Hinata at first, telling her colours he liked, which were none by the way. If the colour was in the rainbow or Naruto liked it; Sasuke hated it! He chose a couple of pictures of rooms he liked the look of so Hinata could quote 'get a feel for what he liked', which he of course had rolled his eyes at. After that Hinata had worked on her own. While Hinata was busy decorating Sasuke was either helping the gardener, looking through some book Hinata had wanted him to read before they began their lessons which she'd told him would start soon or training.
Hinata stood in the kitchen trying to make herself look busy while she waited for Sasuke to return from the local shops. She wanted to ask him for a favour and today she had put the finishing touches to the sitting room and wanted him to see the end result. She hoped he liked it! She'd worked really hard decorating the room to what she hoped was to Sasuke's liking. She had hoped they'd do the project together but the second she mentioned the word shopping Sasuke left everything to her.
On the bright side, she felt like she knew him a lot more after decorating one room in his (hopefully) taste though. I know it sounds absurd but Hinata had come to realise a few details about Sasuke just from the picture boards and colours he'd chosen. He liked cosy rooms, snug and warm. He liked a more relaxed homely finish, nothing too modern but not old fashioned either, liked wooden flooring but it had to be light wood not dark. Didn't like a fuss to be made of things, so ornaments were out of the question. Art had to have a purpose as to why it was there! Things had to be organised, it reminded her of a saying her father used: 'A place for everything and everything in its place'.  All these little details she'd kept in mind while she'd decorated, she only hoped they were the right details.
Slamming the front door shut behind him with a kick of his foot Sasuke walked in to the kitchen and threw the bags of food on the counter top. Hinata then took over and began to put all the food away while Sasuke helped himself to a coffee to warm himself up. This was their routine now; he'd shop and bring the food home and Hinata would put it all away (mainly cos Sasuke had no idea where any of the food went since she'd reorganised! That was his excuse anyway) strange really how accustomed and relaxed he found himself in her presence though, usually more so than when he was in Naruto's but then again Naruto did tend to get on his nerves. Sasuke put it down to the fact Hinata could get along with anyone, himself included. She was just a gentle soul, nothing more to it.
“I made some soup in the pan for you.” Hinata informed him. She knew him well enough by now to know that he probably hadn't eaten since breakfast, knew he was starving and with it now being 1 in the afternoon if he didn't eat something soon he'd be grouchy...well more grouchy than normal.
“You heard from Sakura?” Sasuke asked, to try and fill the silence between them.
“Um she messaged me before, she finishes at midnight so we need to save her some leftovers.” Sasuke nodded his head slightly to show he was at least listening, “You heard from Naruto?” Hinata asked him while still putting away the shopping.
“He said about 10, but knowing him more like 11. I wouldn't bother saving him anything he'll probably get ramen.”
“ok. I was thinking of inviting a few friends over next week? Have a movie night?” Hinata began to twiddle her thumbs as she was becoming more and more agitated the more questions she asked Sasuke.
“Hyuga, did I happen to mention I hate when you think things.”
“Mmmm? Yes last Tuesda -”
“That was a rhetorical question Hyuga. You know I use sarcasm right? ”
“Oh?” Hinata looked over at Sasuke with a confused expression on her face, “It's just very hard to tell with you, seeing as you're an arse all the time.” Sasuke actually found himself laughing, not a full belly laugh he hadn't done that since his childhood. But a laugh never the less.
“Touché Hyuga, if I had a drink I'd raise a glass to your snide comment.”
“What do you think though? We could invite some of your friends...” Seeing Sasuke's face of disgust it was Hinata's turn to laugh, “Or we could just invite a select few people over.”
“I'll think about it.”
“Really?” Hinata smiled at him brightly.
“Don't get you're hopes up Hyuga, chances are I'm gonna say 'no'.”
“I'll take those chances.”
Sasuke placed his now empty soup bowl in the sink, he'd wash it later with the other pots, he told himself. Hinata usually made the meal and he wash the dishes, he didn't expect her to do everything in the house!
Sensing Hinata's stare on him he looked over at her and caught her eye.
“What?”
“I-I...-”
“God I hate when you get all nervous. I'm not gonna kill you.”
“No-No I know.” Hinata assured him, her eyes growing wide at the thought she would even think he would. Huh? Did the Hyuga actually trust he wouldn't hurt her? Strange...
“I am a little nervous though, sure.” She chuckled awkwardly, “I just reallywantyoutolikeitandidontknowifyouwilland-”
“Hyuga! Breath!” Sasuke placed his hands on her shoulder's, “Start again, somewhere I can make even the slightest sense what you're going on about.” Hinata bit her lip to hide her smile, there was nothing she could do to hide her blush of embarrassment on her cheeks though. Hinata took a few deep and calming breaths and looked in to Sasuke's smirking face.
“I finished decorating the sitting room. Would you like to see it?” Hinata whispered. Seeing Sasuke nod his head Hinata grabbed hold of his hand and pulled him out the kitchen.
Sasuke was trying to comprehend how Hinata had gone from shy and nervous to having her hand in his and pulling him in the direction she wanted to go. When the hell did he become the less dominant one?
“Ready?” Hinata smiled at him. Sasuke felt himself nodding automatically, heard Hinata open the door to the sitting room and pull him in to the newly decorated room. He could smell the new paint smell still, but his mind was elsewhere. He was concentrating on Hinata, watching her reactions. If he was truly honest with himself he found her fascinating to watch. Her smile; her true smile, was rare especially after the war so Sakura had informed him. Seeing her truly smile now and for that smile to be aimed at him well he would dare the devil himself not to smile back also! Because he was smiling back, and yes a true and rare smile it felt strange and odd but still he smiled.
She pulled him this way and that, showing him certain things in the room she thought he would like. A certain chair, she knew he liked to sit in his dad's chair so she'd had the inners and springs re-done so it was now more comfy, where the fabric had been fraying and fading away had been replaced with tan leather to match the new 'L' shaped couch. Still old, but yet new.
The mantelpiece above the fire had been sanded down to its wood, so it now looked like a piece of drift wood off the beach rather than the grand ornamental and intricate design it had on it only two weeks ago.
Then it hit him; a wave of emotion that he had no idea how to handle. Two weeks ago this room had been a reminder of the past, a happy reminder for once. A room his mother had decorated herself, a room where the whole family gathered together for a change, a room where himself and Itachi had been shouted at countless times for fighting, where he would wait right next to window for Itachi to come home.
“Sasuke?”
Sasuke clutched onto the back of the new couch to steady himself. He felt like he was about to be throw up.
“You don't like it? I can change-”
“Shhh.” Sasuke placed his hand over her mouth. He couldn't stand to hear her talking, with his ears buzzing he felt seconds away from passing out. He had to find a way to get rid of these emotions; to forget them.
“I need a drink.” Sasuke mumbled.
“Wait Sasuke-” Hinata tried to stop him, but once Sasuke Uchiha had made up his mind there was no stopping him.
