Aidan was my first ever original child character and I loved writing Buck with him so much that I couldn't leave the fic as a one-shot like I'd planned!! This fic will forever have a place in my heart and I was so sad when I finished it. Having said that, With you I'm home has been put on the backburner until single dads is done just cause I keep forgetting which child belongs to which AU 😅

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

Ooh this is from a oneshot that I haven't quite gotten finished yet, but I have a great moment I've been working on with Team Dark. Part of the story takes place at a doctor's office, and then I got the most amazing wonderful image in my head of Omega getting a lollipop like they give you and just holding this teeny-tiny lollipop between two of his giant fingers and being as happy with it as a 5-year-old. The whole scene is just so silly and dumb (and a needed refresher after the angst of the rest of it)

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

Hehehehe. Chapter 3 of my Whispers in the Dark fic. (Playfully mean or just malicious? You decide 😅). Minor spoilers although it's only a tiny bit into it, but Mimic the Octopus is trying to find some information he can use against Shadow and ends up finding a file about Maria. I've gotten at least two different comments saying "You f****ing wouldn't", so I think it's working 😈 (You'll have to read the rest of the fic to find out if I would or not)

💞 Who's your comfort character?

Tails! Especially baby/toddler Tails. I need to write more with him! I do give him too much angst but I just love him. Sonic is pretty far up there too, because he's so fun and silly and always has a quip up his sleeve.

um I'd say in my fic Forever Winter any time Austin & Elsie have their "fix it pancakes" or when they hook pinkies 🥺

another is anytime Elsie thinks about why she can't be with Austin bc she can't risk losing him/having to leave him (bc he's mentally fucked up & has no one else) and says that she won't leave him "Not Even for a Second" 🥺

I guess if I had to give one for Just an Intern - i really liked when he tells reader about past job as a cook at the surf & turf restaurant lol he hadn't really opened up to her about anything up until that point so i loved that tiny moment

ALSO when he thinks he hurt her and gets all soft - that was really cute to write too lol

30, 38 & 75?

30: How much do you edit your fics?  Do you edit as you write or wait until you finish the first draft?

Both, LOL. I like to edit as I go, changing things around a little, adding words, things like that. But I also like to sleep on my stories so that I can look at them with fresh eyes and catch typos, missing words, tense changes where I didn’t expect them, etc. I also feel like sleeping on my stories helps me solidify which scenes need a few more sentences, and which ones could benefit from being a little shorter.

38: What is your most self-indulgent posted story?

Everything I write is self-indulgent to some degree. Personally I think writing fanfic should be fun, and it should be written for an audience of you and your best friends and your dick, if it’s that kind of story. But as far as the most self-indulgent goes, it’s probably a toss-up between the way-hey the wormhole beckons series and my most recent fic (up a steep and very narrow stairway).

75: Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn’t expect?

I was very pleasantly surprised by how many people liked why would you lie about something dumb like that. I thought a few people would like it, but I didn’t expect it to make that much of a splash. As of today it is my highest-kudosed fic on the archive. Funny how these things work sometimes!

11. Nope. Not only am not a worthy music person (I don't even have Spotify, I pretty much only half-listen to FM radio stations while driving or cleaning like it's 1995), I usually need complete silence to write because I have the attention span of a toddler after a Cocomelon binge. Sometimes I might put some low key classical music or film score from YouTube, but nothing I'm emotionally attached to because then I'll start thinking about that movie and how long it's been since I've watched it and load up the IMDB page for it and then who knows where I'll end up down Distraction Drive (all odds point to NotWritingAnymore Avenue).

18. AO3 tells me I have over 250K words now in over 40 works... that's a lot of lines. I can't think of a favorite. If I restrict it to the last chapter of my last fic, Acikskatakusiir, I thought Cornelia's crafty use of commas in her signature to Eli was pretty effective. And the "Where are you, Eli?" that came earlier in the letter were the four most cathartically satisfying words of the whole story and felt like it was shouted straight out of our anguished fandom's oddly in synch Collective Consciousness.

25. (HA!) I upset myself with the process of writing, not the content.

I get upset facing what it is I have to write: a scene I'm not sure how to set/pace, smut, figuring out the details around That Scene / Dialogue I so wanted to write in the first place, smut again, an ending I'm not sold on and that feels half-baked, and more smut. I'm currently completely stalled and irritated AF because of a combination of those.

I'm typically upset in the "aaargh NO, that's NOT right, that's NOT how I want this to go, I don't know how exactly it's supposed to go but it's most definitely NOT that, why won't it just fucking go?!". But I'm totally at peace with writing heartbreak and separation and character death and shitty endings if they make sense (because I will have thought out reasons for them to make sense even before beginning the fic).

And nothing upsets me more than finding shoddy grammar or repeated words when re-reading some time after posting. The time I misspelled Ckirirahpiks and then proceeded to copy-paste the misspelled word in all its later iterations in the story has to take the cake. Guys, chat me up and let me know when I screw up like that. This was the equivalent of giving a conference with mustard on my face. Mortifying.

3. Do you prefer canonverse or AUs?

im an au bitch, thru and thru! reading, writing, all of it. i love it when my lil guys are in situations, but even better when they're in situations they wouldn't normally be in. especially when it's softer than the characters would ever really let themselves be, if you couldn't tell by my love of coffeeshop/bakery aus.

13. Exes or established relationship?

i like writing established relationships, but i love reading exes! i havent written bitter exes, i think the closest ive gotten is mox and eddie in come through callin', but i want to one day. just a real fun dynamic

17. Describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage.

i think, of all the ones im like actively working on, beauty and the beast is the least developed. it's just vibes and a couple key scenes ive visualized in my brain. i think i described it the other day as "midwestern gothic curses and consequences"

i looked up the oldest versions of batb for inspiration, and it's burn season right now so everything is just dead and desolate outside, and bryan is prone to fucking up, and sometimes the wind changes and a fire gets bigger than you want and takes out innocents, and boy howdy bryan sure leaves a lot of victims in his wake doesn't he, and the good thing about curses with time limits is that they end which seems like a counterintuitive thing for a curse to do if you really want it to hurt

i know this started as like a silly billy fic idea, but it just set off like a wildfire! i have so many ideas! all of them hurt!

Most likely the next chapter of Shattered Pasts Repaired into Refracted Futures. I'm trying to keep that updated as much as possible, especially since Prime is still fresh. That being said, I do have a couple oneshots I've been getting inspired on, so we'll have to see which one gets finished first.

A Kangaroo Court came about as an idea when I was rewatching The Dark Knight Rises. I knew that Vanessa was going to be with Jonathan during the court room scenes in the film and I started kicking around ideas of what they would have been up to during the months that Bruce wasn’t in Gotham and Bane was in control. I rewatched the sequence with Jonathan sentencing Stryver from the film several times to get down his mannerisms while running the court, and then started brainstorming ways in which Vanessa could also participate.

I really fell in love with the imagery of Vanessa just chilling on Jonathan’s lap, and being this more quiet yet incredibly present threat. There was very much a leaning into the “evil power couple” vibes that I like to give them. I definitely want to write more about what these two were up to during this point in time, their arrangement with Bane, etc.  

The idea to have someone attempt to attack Jonathan and have Vanessa kill them came a bit later, mainly because I needed something else to happen other than to have Noah just dragged in, sentenced, and then dragged back out again. It added a bit more action to the scene and also showed how Vanessa and Jonathan have managed to hold onto their position and power in the court through using fear and intimidation to remind the mob who’s in charge. Also I just love writing Vanessa and Jonathan bring overprotective of one another.  

I really like writing Vanessa and Jonathan from civilians’ perspectives like I did in both this piece and in The Victim You Want Me to Be. When writing from Vanessa or Jonathan’s POV there’s definitely as aspect of unreliable narrator there that can undercut just how scary and monstrous they really are, so it’s nice to change that up from time to time with other POVs.

⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

fun fact! Just an Intern was almost scrapped completely, I'd never written in 2nd person/reader pov before & i thought the plot was stupid so it was almost never posted lol

but other than that not really tbh! just ones I havent finished BUT since the bulk of my work is in long series there have been a plethora of chapters that haven't made it / have been reworked !

Forever Winter's new years chapters were written like 3-4 different other ways with completely different plot lines lmao

-in one of them the NYE party was a costume party and Austin & Aspen were gonna be Danny/Sandy from Grease LOL and Elsie/Nox were gonna be Christian & Anastasia from 50 Shades of Gray lmao
