"warmth, good food, orgasms" followed by "I don't think anyone's waiting for me" will never not break my heart
because what makes life worth living to Ed is safety, comfort, companionship, intimacy
and his mind has conjured up a cold place, where the food is poison, and no one there but the worst person he has ever known
he thinks he can never be loved
and that no one misses him
and still! still he clings to life, it's shit, it's draining, it's painful as hell, but he clings to it, he could let go, but doesn't, he isn't willing to give up, he doesn't want to die
what he wants, what he begs of himself is a reason, one reason, any reason at all to keep going
something, anything, the smallest thing that makes life liveable
but all he has for himself are basic, everyday comforts, easily overshadowed by what he thinks is forever lost, was never attainable in the first place
and when he's lost all hope, he still never jumps. he has to be pushed into the abyss and still clings on. could let himself drown, easy as breathing, but manages to hold on just long enough
to finally find something worth living for

There's some truly baffling takes in that poll trying to encourage people to vote for stucky instead of gentlebeard but no matter what, we have this at least.
I wasn't there for stucky at the time but the idea it did anything to pave the way for anything? As if decades of work before it hadn't also paved that same way? It's astounding that the response to that seems to be to vote AGAINST a canon relationship on the queerest show to ever be so successful that literally HBO headquarters is covered in materials promoting the new season. Against a show where the creator literally said "the show is the relationship."
Maybe I just don't understand spite as well as I thought. You're really gonna vote for MCU because the other option has a CANON queer couple you didn't get to have? Or because you find fans of the other option "annoying"? As if all fandoms aren't kind of annoying?

A house I walk by all the time has had a pride flag out front as long as we've lived here.
Suddenly, the pride flag is gone. Like, not replaced, but the metal holder thingie is completely bare.
It stays empty for about a week and then the house next to it lines their entire property with tiny pride flags.
And I don't know any of these people well enough to ask, but you just know there's a story there.

So my neighbors came over, and I invited them in for tea or coffee. They lasted for 30 minutes and then were kicked out. Why? I have a Bisexual flag in my living room. One that means a lot to me and my husband. The husband got offended that we had a Bisexual flag but not the American one(because we're an army family ig). He then asked us to take it down because of his religious beliefs.
I told them to leave my home immediately.

i'm mostly satisfied with the finale but i think i would have felt more affected by izzy's death if he died protecting ed, not with various members from the crew (i know the crew became his family/friends too but still). Like bringing back "above all else loyalty to your captain" the same way they brought back "there he is" in a better/more loving tone. maybe they make it to the revenge but ricky appears and tries to kill stede with ed stepping in to protect him and when ricky aims and shoots, izzy shields them both/ed and the scene of him reassuring ed as he dies can play out as it did with ricky running while they're distracted. then going on to his burial and the rest of the ending
