14 What was an important, defining moment you’ve had with fish/aquatic animals?

probably when i worked at my local zoo on the bird and reptile unit! i was often assigned to the penguins (since my degree is marine bio) so got to see how they act up close. i later did my dissertation on those penguins and their behaviours. another moment would probably be when i fed sharks.

40 Share a pet peeve about something marine-related (e.g. a misconception, a portrayal or lack of portrayal of an animal, etc.) that drives you up the walls.

ohhhhhh man i have a whole list of pet peeves and irritants:

when films that include penguins in it can't even be bothered to research said penguin and continually call them by the wrong species name. there was a film i watched some time ago that was set in a zoo, and the protag was meant to be an ~expert~ on the penguins. except that the penguins in question were magellanic penguins and the protag kept calling them adelie penguins. the two look nothing alike and i spent an hour just fuming.

the vilifying of gulls in every day life. people call them flying rats and all sorts of names and there's so much hostile architecture put in place to stop them landing when really gulls are absolute sweethearts. if you have a lot of gulls (as you usually do when you live by the sea), you tend to have less of a rat population, which you'd think would be good, right? well, it's not good enough for most people apparently. they don't even see gulls as living beings half the time, just letting their kids kick at them. and they might be on the protected species list in the uk now, but it doesn't stop said hostile architecture from appearing. i want to burn any building that has it to the ground.

the use of the term 'seagull'. no such thing as a seagull. in marine bio they're just called gulls, with their other name before 'gull' (ie lesser black backed gull, herring gull etc).

SHARK PORTRAYAL SHARK PORTRAYAL. jaws has ruined the reputation of sharks and has severely harmed shark conservation efforts. great whites do not act like the jaws film says they do. if they bite a human, it's because they mistake them for seals or are just curious. no shark species acts the same as the other (greenland sharks don't act like whitetip reef sharks don't act like goblin sharks). the only shark that actually deserves a reputation of ferocity is the sandtiger shark, and they cannibalise their own siblings in utero. (also sharks are mostly ovoviviparous and give live births and i am tired of media not acknowledging this).

edit: i forgot my most rage inducing one: PENGUINS DON'T JUST LIVE IN ANTARCTICA. there are around seventeen officially acknowledged species of penguins and only two of them live in antarctica proper. the rest generally live in tropical areas.

sorry lmao i got carried away with the last question but i have a lot of rage in me about this subject. i subject everyone i meet to at least one of these rants.

Just a shortened version of my name... so most people call me Tab (I realise I don't tend to say my name on here, but not really for any reason 😅). I don't think I have any interesting nicknames or anything like that.

🌿 Describe your favourite outfit.

I'm not really a *fashionable* person so something simple... skinny jeans would definitely feature. Probably some boots, and then either a t-shirt or probably a nice darker coloured button up with Australiana native print. I love Australiana flora 😍 But I mean that's if I was going out. My favourite thing to wear is PJs because that means home and comfort.

what things would you like to get for your retro studio? (both realistic and completely over the top ones!)

ahh! there’s practical stuff like a funky new sofa bed and a new desk chair, a gallery wall for my art prints and posters, shelves for more of my trinkets, etc. but i also have a jellyfish lamp to put in there, i plan on getting some plants in some vintage pots and vases, some cushions with original covers, maybe a new rug! i’m really into retrofuturism so i wanna really execute that kinda vibe in there! <3

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

i do tend to outline my fics at the beginning and if there are chapters then i'll have one doc per chapter and keep the big plan separate too just in case. and then everything that was written in bullet points + random dialogue in each separate doc will be made bigger and bigger until everything is eventually flowing prose. that last part is the part that takes the longest. i also hate proofreading so so much 😅

The moment he broke into that smile, my first thought was how much he looks like the Doctor here. Because Crowley doesn’t smile like that. We’ve never seen him smile like that: with such pure, radiant, uninhibited joy and awe. Not as himself. The first scene of this season was so impactful because we saw what Crowley was like as an angel, just how adorable and pure he was, full of overflowing love and affection for all of creation… and how much of a contrast it was to Crowley as a demon – jaded, weary, guarded, hiding behind his dark glasses and a grumpy, sardonic demeanour.

But this smile. It’s dazzling. There’s not a trace of irony or snark or sneering amusement, nothing of the sort. He’s just happy. Yes, it’s one of those “pictures taken seconds before a disaster” moments, but he doesn’t know it yet. Right now, he’s watching two humans about to fall in love. Knowing it was him who made it happen. Him, a demon, putting just a little bit more love into this world. And this makes him so happy.

Everything about the way this shot is framed is so intimate, and vulnerable, and powerful. He’s resting his forehead against the window, with his glasses off, and his face is right in front of us, the viewers. It almost feels like intruding on a private moment… because it is. He’s only smiling like that because no one’s looking at him. He wouldn’t do it in front of anyone else. Not even Aziraphale, I think.

But imagine if Aziraphale had been there to see it. He would have perished and discorporated on the spot. He’d have fallen in love with him right there and then, if he hadn’t already fallen in love with him many times over.

I don’t give a fuck if they kiss in S3, I can take it or leave it. The only thing I want is for Crowley to smile at his angel like that. And for Aziraphale to see it.

23 how do you feel about chilly weather?

i really don't like it, which is very unfortunate as i live in a chilly part of the country. i have a messed up thermoregulation system so if the weather gets too warm or too chilly, it messes with me lmao

i have a friend whom i would consider a bestie at this point that i met on pre-purge fanfiction dot net in 2011 when we were both still in school. now we're both old, complain to each other about back ache, and have voice calls for animal crossing sessions

46 favorite holiday film?

hmmm. i don't actually know. i don't really watch a lot of christmas (or halloween or whatever) films. i'd probably say the old rudolph film out of nostalgia (and because i have the shouty elf modded into my skyrim game to replace the falmer sounds which. probably not the best reason). or love actually

The 2500 BC seaside scene hits so differently after finishing season 2. Aziraphale is still coming to the realization that he is an angel who does too much good to be a good angel, and Crowley is already affirmed in the fact that, as a demon, he has already dissented from one authority, and so the authority he reports to now matters a little less: he’s a little more confident in his solitary standing, but that doesn’t make it any less lonely. It’s a dance they’ll be doing for thousands of years: Aziraphale insists he must serve Heaven, and Crowley, who has already left Heaven, gets frustrated at the fact that Aziraphale can’t see he’s too good for Heaven, and that the only way he can truly do the good things he wants to do for humanity is to abandon the idea that Heaven has good intentions.

Crowley and Aziraphale are separated from each other not just by Heaven and Hell, but by their own independent stances: Crowley, too demonic for Heaven and too empathetic for Hell, and Aziraphale, too holy for Hell and too empathetic for Heaven, both existing in circles where they are the only inhabitant. By the seaside, they first realize this, and over the years they find comfort in each other despite their loneliness: they share their empathy and love for humanity, but the circles never merge: they are still separated by their labels of angel and demon.

But, for a few minutes among what will be 6,000 years of knowing each other, just a blip in the timeline, really, the angel who follows Heaven as well as he can and the demon who chooses not to follow every order from Hell sit by the seaside. And Aziraphale, for a moment, is comforted by the realization that while he cannot completely impress Heaven, perhaps it’s not such a bad thing that he and the demon can share their loneliness.

depending on my mood, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Jurassic Park or Finding Nemo.

13. what’s your comfort food?

big fan of soups. my friend makes a wonderful soup with rice, carrot, celery, potato, lemon/lime and chilli and a whole bunch of other stuff. i might be wrong but i think the recipe was passed down from her grandparents so it's amazing and tastes like being looked after.

i also like anything that involves thick gravy - bangers and mash or a roast dinner.

30. what reminds you of home (doesn’t have to mean house… just things that remind you of the feeling of home)?

the above foods and films, certain music from my childhood, sitting in a patch of sun reading a book (inside or outside), writing frantically in notebooks, climbing trees, smell of rain, my friends.
