Day 1: Jane and Thor as Parents Happy Fosterson Week! I am JAZZED and ready to go. Thor 3 AU-ish type fic. Knowledge of Thor 3 is probably helpful for context, but not required. Assumes Jane and Thor have been together since 2013 (post-TDW), and Thor has been back and forth from Midgard after Age of Ultron.
The mysterious, apparently Asgardian, scrapper blew the flame out on her drink and tipped it back. From behind the lasers, almost hidden by her gauntlet but still unmistakable, the dark bronze tattoo on her brown skin was a familiar design.
“My god, you’re a Valkyrie,” Thor breathed.
She slammed her bottle down against the bar, and Thor suspected he only had a few moments before she either left or shocked him again just for fun.
He continued, “I used to want to be a Valkyrie when I was younger. My wife and I named our daughter after you.”
That seemed to pique her attention, even if just for a moment as she crossed to the opposite bar.
“Well, I suppose not you since I don’t know your name, but we named her Valkyrie. Val. I hope she gets her mother’s brains. She’s certainly starting to get my brawn. She’s still young yet, but I--” Jane always teased him that once he got to talking about Val, he could never stop.
The scrapper hadn’t left yet, so he had hope that he might yet reach her.
But before he could truly plead his case, a loud voice shouted, “Lord of Thunder, you’re up!”
“Please,” he said. “Help me. I need your help.”
“Bye,” she replied, taking her purchase and turning away from him, the absolute picture of brusque uncaring.
A jet of fury shot through him. “Fine,” he spit, “then you must be a traitor or a coward because the Valkyrie is sworn to protect the throne.”
That froze her. She turned swiftly on heel and stalked up to the barrier. “Listen closely, your majesty,” she said, “This is Sakaar, not Asgard. And I’m a scrapper, not a Valkyrie.”
One of the mercenaries grabbed at his arm. Taking too long for them, apparently, so he threw a punch and was swiftly taken down by the implant in his neck.
She added, “It’s a shame about your daughter, but no one escapes this place. You’re going to die anyway. Make your peace with it.”
It was difficult to say that the day was won when Asgard was destroyed. Burned right off the face of the galaxy. At least he’d managed to save some of his people, and he had a strong team of allies at his side. (Well, he still wasn’t sure how to qualify Loki, but if his brother was on his side for now, he would take it.)
They arrived in Midgard space with little fanfare. The old ship could almost resemble something of Earth’s creation with how ancient it was compared to more modern space-faring vessels, so he wouldn’t be able to simply enter the atmosphere without a care in the world. Earth weapons could probably do damage, and he refused to lose anymore people.
“We’re going to need official permission to land,” Thor said. “But before that--” he looked to Heimdall. “Can you send me to them?”
Heimdall’s ancient amber eyes crinkled in a smile. “Yes.”
Val scooped a handful of sand onto Darcy’s hand as Jane half-worked from her data station nearby.
“I’m going to bury you!” declared Val, her vocabulary and diction far beyond that of an ordinary toddler.
Darcy poked her in the cheek with the yet-unburied hand, prompting a fit of giggles. “Well then, you better get going before your mom finishes her science stuff over there.”
Jane was only half worried about scorpions or snakes or other such things one should probably worry about when she brought her kid out with her in the New Mexico desert, but with Thor’s near-invulnerability, Val wasn’t the one she had to be concerned for.
“Val, honey, just make sure--”
She was nearly startled out of her skin by the sight of the Bifrost opening about ten yards from when Val had abandoned her burial project.
The rainbow bridge hadn’t yet cleared, but Val knew exactly what it meant. “Daddy!” she screeched, pushing herself onto her feet and running as fast and with as much coordination as her two-year old legs could manage.
Jane wasn’t far behind her daughter as she stepped out from behind her work unit, abandoning the data she’d been looking at without a second thought.
The bridge disappeared and the dust settled, and revealed Thor. He took several steps to meet Val’s course, swooping her up in his arms to a chorus of excited squeals.
“Oh, my darling girl, I’ve missed you so,” he murmured, holding his daughter close.
Jane nearly stumbled to a halt at the edge of the Bifrost ring.
“What happened to your hair?” probably shouldn’t have been the first thing out of her mouth when she hadn’t seen her husband in six long months, but there it was.
It was unmistakably him, but with short, cropped hair, different armor, and-- “Oh my god, and what happened to your eye?”
Jane was solidly 0 for 2 on good, loving greetings but she sent her husband off with two eyes and a full head of hair and he had returned with neither.
Val immediately started peppering him with questions, not completely unlike Jane’s own. “Where’s your hair? Why are you wearing an eyepatch? Where’s your big cape? Where did you go? Did someone cut your hair? Did you do it? I’m so happy you’re home--”
“Yes, my love, I will tell you all about it in a moment. Can I greet your lovely mum first?”
Val nodded resolutely. “Yes. She missed you a lot. Almost as much as me.”
“Oh, almost?” he replied with a quirked brow, and met Jane’s eyes over Val’s head.
Jane’s joy at seeing him was momentarily tempered by the look in his eye. She could see how much effort it was taking him to put on a brave face for Val, and Jane quietly suspected she wouldn’t be getting the full story either until much later.
Thor placed Val down, if a bit reluctantly (on both parts).
Darcy seemed to read the mood perfectly because she said, “Hey little hurricane,” to Val, gesturing with her hand, “come over here and help me start putting away your mom’s stuff so we can go home with your dad, huh?”
“Okay!” Despite being an advanced toddler, she was still a toddler, and Jane would take advantage of her daughter’s diverted attention for as long as possible.
Thor nearly fell into her, burying his face in her shoulder. She could feel his exhaustion and sorrow, and hoped that her arms around him could offer him some amount of peace. She threaded a hand through his cropped hair, scraping along the back of his scalp in motions she knew he found soothing.
He trembled against her, so very slightly, and Jane had to physically bite her tongue to keep from asking, What in God’s named happened to you?
“Mjolnir was destroyed,” he said into her neck, “My father is dead. Loki is alive. I had a long-lost sister who tore out my eye. Asgard is gone. The last of my people are aboard a ship orbiting the planet.”
Every piece of information felt cataclysmic in the relatively stable world they’d built for themselves in the past five years. Jane just breathed, held back her questions, and held him tighter.
“I know you have questions,” he said, still not pulling away from her. “And I will tell you everything, I just... I need to hold you.”
“It’s okay,” she soothed.
They stayed that way for a few more moments, but they knew they didn’t have forever.
Jane didn’t let go until Thor did, and when he pulled back, she could see that his strength was back in place, masking the hurt she knew was lying right beneath the surface. God, she loved him.
“So what do you think of the new look?” he asked teasingly, and she nearly cried.
She loved him so much.
“I think I can get used to it.”
They weren’t done, not by a long shot. She imagined there would be a lot of administration he’d have to handle trying to relocate the Asgardian refugees, and she’d need to fill him in on the Avengers drama over the Sokovia Accords, and--
There was just so much.
But at least he was home.

Fosterson Week, Day 1: Parenthood
“Dad!”
“Mom!”
“Not even dawn, and already it begins,” Thor mumbles, half into Jane’s hair, half into the pillow.
“I got them yesterday, it’s your turn,” Jane says, pulling the blankets from his side of the bed to expose him to the cold.
“You are ruthless, hjarta,” he chuckles, trying to take the blankets back as Jane holds firm.
“And you’re the one with the magic hammer, so go quell that uprising,” she retorts with a smirk.
Thor places a kiss at the hollow of her throat. “Don’t pretend you couldn’t wield it if you wanted to.”
“Why would I want to?” Jane grins, sitting up. “Then I’d lose my best excuse for making you do all the hard parenting stuff. Well, almost all of it.” She rubs her stomach with a mix of pride and resignation. “I cannot believe I’m going to have another set of twins, how have I not died in childbirth yet?”
“Because you know I would never let that happen to you,” he says, moving her hand aside to give her stomach a kiss. “Did she mention—”
“One of each. We are naming these two Luke and Leia, and you cannot stop me.”
“Jane, we’ve been through this—”
“I’m going to have given you five kids once these two get out of me, Thor Odinson. I think I deserve a say in naming them.”
“You named Astrid.”
“Because you weren’t there! Also, I’m way better at it, Móði and Magni are just mean names to give tiny little babies!”
“DADDY!”
Jane huffs, pushing him aside with the rest of the covers. “I’m going to go throw up last night’s dinner, and when I get back, I would like to know that those three little monsters are wrangled.”
“Don’t pretend you don’t love them, Jane Foster.”
“Oh, I love them, but I also love their dad, so my judgment’s kind of impaired.” Jane shoves her feet in her slippers and shuffles into the bathroom as the active little half-aliens inside kick up the contents of her stomach. “Chestbursters would be preferable,” she grumbles to her stomach, pushing back her hair. When she got back into the bedroom, Thor has one of each of the boys stuck under his arms, and Astrid is clinging to his back like a monkey. “This is not what I meant by wrangling,” Jane laughs.
“I’m the King of Asgard now!” Astrid declares, smiling so widely that she shows off her missing teeth. Swinging her feet, she sends them all toppling onto the bed. “Daddy’s anguished!”
“I think you mean vanquished, honey,” Jane corrects her seven-year-old. “Did your aunties teach you that?”
“Uh-huh!” Astrid beams.
“Okay, well, get off your daddy before he crushes your brothers,” Jane gently pries her daughter from Thor’s back. “And prove I’m right, Luke and Leia would be cool names for your new brother and sister, wouldn’t they?”
“But Luke and Leia’s mommy dies!” Magni points out as he wriggles out from under Thor.
“Mommy, don’t die!” Móði gasps, following his brother.
“You really think after everything that’s happened to us, your daddy would let me?” Jane asks, sitting on the bed and pulling all three of her kids into a hug. “Besides, haven’t I taught you that Padmé died because Emperor Palpatine drained her life force?”
“Multiple times, hjarta,” Thor chuckles. “Your fascination with that saga is astounding.”
“It’s a pop culture milestone, and I stand by every installment,” Jane says firmly. “Besides, I don’t hear you offering any other—”
"Torunn and Erik," he cuts her off with a smile. "You were saying?"
"I like that," Móði says.
"Me too," agrees Magni.
"Torunn, huh?" Jane repeats dryly. "Seems pretty egomaniacal of you, Thor."
"I'm not hearing any objections to Erik," Thor counters smugly.
“If they're a package deal, no way. We are not calling her Torunn. Maybe I’ll let you negotiate me down to Victoria, and we can call her Tori."
“It’s three votes for, and Astrid hasn’t decided yet,” Thor pointed out. “We have the democratic majority.”
“Oh, please, the twins count as one vote, and you know it,” Jane scoffed. “Astrid, come on, don’t let me down.”
“AUNTIE BRYNN! AUNTIE SIF!” Astrid screams, jumping off the bed and running out of the room. Thor laughs and kisses Jane’s forehead.
“I will get her, see about our breakfast, and then figure out how I am going to spend the next seven months convincing you that I’m right,” he informs her.
“You are somehow simultaneously the best and worst husband ever.”
“So long as I am your husband, I’ll take it,” he tells her with a grin. Jane responds by throwing a pillow at his head.

Fosterson Week - > Day 7 (free day)
Was going to write another part of To End, and Begin Again, but the muse was being elusive, and I really need to rewatch Ragnarok again.
So instead, I present Jane getting ready for her wedding to Thor, and having a chat about her wedding dress with Pepper.
Pepper stuck her head into the cargo container where Jane was getting ready.
"Good to see you again, Jane,"  she said.  "I brought you a little something from me.  Tony's dropping off our official gift in the Great Hall right now, but this is for you."  She held out a small package to Jane.
Jane unwrapped the small, soft package to find a lace-edged handkerchief. She looked up at Pepper in confusion.
"I thought that I was a tough girl and wouldn't need one," Pepper said.  "I still teared up as soon as Tony started saying his vows."
Jane smiled down at it.  "Good idea.  Also a good thing that my dress has pockets."
Pepper sighed.  "You know, I loved the look and fit of my dress, but pockets would have been so helpful.  Is that the one?"  She pointed to the dress stand nearby.
Jane nodded.  "Some days, I can't imagine anything better than this - learning extraterrestrial technology, and being engaged to Thor, and then there are days that I can't even believe that this is my life.  Today is definitely an 'I can't believe this' day."
"I think I'm jealous,"  Pepper said, taking in the white and silvery blue dress, with the long, deep blue cloak and decorative chased bracers and armored belt.  "You do realize that when pictures of this wedding get out, you're going to start a trend in decorative armor."
Jane laughed. "Once again, I can't believe that this is my life."
Pepper reached over and squeezed her hand.  "Don't worry.  Tony and Happy are keeping an eye on the photographers that are being allowed in for the wedding, so you and Thor will have the final say over what's released."
"Thanks for coming, Pepper,"  Jane said.  "I can't say how much it helps to have someone else here who's experienced this kind of craziness before."
"Just remember," Pepper said.  "Whatever else goes on, this is ultimately about you marrying Thor.  Nothing else. The guys may be superheroes and kings and inventors, but at the end of the day, they’re still our husbands, and that’s what matters.  Need a hand getting ready?"
Jane nodded.  "Darcy will be here shortly, but I've seen the fastenings on that dress, and an extra set of hands will help."

To End, and Begin Again
Fosterson week - day 2/3 -> Infinity War / Thor 3 AU and Jane on Asgard
This one's split into multiple parts due to length - and the fact that it covers both themes.  It’s a rewrite of Ragnarok, starting off with Jane and Thor on Asgard, and seems to want to be longer than originally planned.
Unlike yesterday's fic, this one isn't a continuation to the main set of AU ficlets that I've been writing since before Infinity War came out.    This is its own beast that may (will probably) run beyond this week.
"I don't actually know why my father cut off access to some of the information in the library databanks,"  Thor said, scratching his head.  "I know it's tied into something to do with the magic that keeps Asgard's systems running, but he wasn't very willing to talk about details."
Thor plunked down at a table as soon as they entered the inn and Jane joined him.
"I guess that make sense, given how you behaved when you... landed on Earth," Jane said.
"I should probably talk to him about it tomorrow, especially if you think there's more information about the Infinity Stones there," Thor replied, grabbing a pitcher off the table and gesturing to a pair of mugs.  "Ale?"
Jane nodded.  "What are we having for dinner?  More roast?"
"This tavern actually specializes in herder's dishes - mostly vegetables and dairy, with flatbread," Thor replied, handing Jane a mug of ale before slouching comfortably against the table.  "The style is quite popular.  They do have some traditional dried sausages, but I wouldn't recommend them."
"Wait, you still have herdsmen?"  Jane asked, picking up the mug and sampling the dark ale.
"Not as such, no,"  Thor replied.  "We haven't relied on sending herdsmen out into pastures to tend goats and sheep since before Asgard was constructed. Today the farms are fully automated.  Their cuisine endures, however.  Will you trust me to order for us?"
Jane nodded.  "Go ahead.  You know the dishes here better than I do, and I'm starving."
Thor smiled, before getting up and speaking briefly in Asgardian to the innkeeper tending the bar.
Before Thor could return, Volstagg and Hogun entered the tavern, and seated themselves at the table.  Hogun's taciturn expression was nothing new, but the mere fact that Volstagg hadn't taken the opportunity to order a snack was worrying Jane.
"Volstagg!  Hogun!  You have returned early!" Thor cried out, grinning.  "This calls for mead, and more food to celebrate!"
"Aye, we have returned," Volstagg said, "and we have seen things I do not like, out on the outer rim of Asgard."
Thor's smile dropped away.  "You have not reported to my father yet, I take it?" Hogun shook his head. "There are signs, my lord.  The magic that holds Asgard safe runs thin, and the boundaries grow ragged."
"Silence,"  Thor said, his spine going straight.  "Eat.  Drink.  We will speak more when we return to the palace later.  This is not the place."
The innkeeper plunked down a large kettle of green stew, bread, cheese, and bowls on their table before disappearing into the kitchen with unseemly haste.
"Nettle soup?" Volstagg asked, peering into the kettle.  "It is! With dumplings!  And roots!"
Thor grabbed the ladle and scooped a healthy serving of the soup into a bowl.  He pointedly ignored Volstagg to set it in front of Jane.  "Use the bread to scoop it up," Thor instructed.  "Grab a piece of cheese when you want to break up the flavor."
Jane looked down at the soup, which was a bright green color and quite lumpy. "Is it really made of nettles?"  she asked.
"Indeed it is, my lady!" Volstagg proclaimed, ignoring Thor's increasing glare. "Don't worry, they don't sting after they're cooked."  He promptly filled his bowl to the rim and turned his attention to the stew.
Jane tore off a chunk of flatbread and used it to scoop up one of the lumps.  It turned out to be a piece of a potato-like root, and the sauce tasted of cream and spinach.  Ordinarily, she would have enjoyed it, but the grim faces around her were rapidly sucking the joy out of trying as much as she could of Asgardian cuisine.
They ate the rest of their meal in silence.
When they entered the palace, Thor turned to Jane.  "Volstagg, Fandral and I must speak to my father about what they have found.  When we finish, will I find you in my rooms, or in the library?"
"If this is related at all to the Infinity Stones, I might be able to help,"  Jane said. "I know your father doesn't like me, but I'm the one who's been doing the research on this."
Thor pulled her close.  "If I thought this was related, I would not hesitate to bring you.  However, I suspect this is all related to", he paused for a long moment "....my family, and very little to do with anything beyond the walls of this palace."
Hogun shot Thor a sidelong glance.
"I'll go to the library," Jane replied.  "I'm not going to be able to rest until you get back.  I might as well get some work done.  I think maybe I'll try looking for information on the Mind Stone or the Tesseract, and see if they might provide more clues about the other stones."
Thor nodded.  "I will find you there when we are done."
As soon as the door closed, Thor turned and started walking toward his father's chambers.  Hogun and Volstagg fell in behind him.
"You suspect something,"  Hogun said.
Thor nodded.  "Follow my lead, and do not be surprised by anything you may see.  Anything."
Volstagg started to speak, but Thor shot a glare over his shoulder.  They walked the rest of the distance to Odin's rooms in silence.
The guards moved to bar Thor from the entrance to Odin's sitting room, but Thor drew himself up to his full height and stared them down.
"I must have audience with the Allfather.  Immediately,"  he said, thunder punctuating his words.  "I am here as the Heir to the Throne, not his son, and there are matters of state that must be attended to."
The guards backed away, and Thor flung open the massive double doors.   Odin appeared in the door on the other side of the room, already dressed in his nightclothes.
"What is so urgent that you must disturb my rest?"  he snapped.  "Unless Surtur is at the gates, it can wait for the Council meeting in the morning."
"This  concerns the fate of Asgard, Father,"  Thor said, before turning to his friends.   "Hogun, Volstagg, report on your patrol of the borders."
Hogun stood forward, saluted Odin with his fist over his heart, and spoke.  "My king, we have patrolled the borders of Asgard, and the energies that should hold Asgard stable in the heart of Yggdrasil grow weak and thin.  Volstagg and I fought off a party of trolls who managed to pass the shields and were scouting the outskirts."
"Maintaining the spells that keep Asgard stable and whole is one of the first duties of the Allfather," Thor said, his voice rising rapidly as he called Mjolnir to his hand.  "In the name of our people Father, why have you been so remiss in your duties?"
Odin stumbled backwards.  "My son!  What is the meaning of this!?" he squawked, as Thor shoved his hammer into his chest.
"You have gone out of your way to avoid me," Thor rumbled.  "You attend events all over the realm rather than meet with the council while I am here. Even for things as simple as access to the library, you avoid me rather than answer with a simple 'no', as Odin would have.”
"Isn't that right - brother?"
Hogun hissed out a long breath and drew his mace.
"You're mad!" Odin snapped.
"Am I?"  Thor replied, tossing Mjolnir past his father and recalling it to his hand. "You know nothing will stop Mjolnir as it returns to my hand.  Not even your head."  He tossed his hammer away again, far out the open door to the terrace, before grabbing Odin's head and summoning the hammer again.
"All right, I yield!"  Loki snapped, dropping the illusion.
"Where is Father?" Thor growled.
"He's safe.  On Midgard," Loki replied.
"And you thought to just usurp the throne of Asgard?"
"I would really appreciate if you put me down," Loki said, sounding distinctly put out.  "It would be so much easier to have a civil conversation if my feet weren't dangling in the air."
Thor dropped his brother back onto his feet with a grunt.  Loki smoothed his coat back down, and flicked away some imaginary contaminants from his shoulders.
"Did Father teach you nothing about the duties of the King of Asgard?"  Thor said.  "I would have expected better of you, Loki.  The energy matrix that preserves Asgard enwraps us all and reaches all the way down to Helheim.  If it is not renewed, the heart of Asgard will cease to function and this will become an unlivable rock!"
"Once again, proof that Odin always favored you,"Loki snapped.  "I was taught nothing about ruling Asgard.  As if I needed more proof that I was just leverage over Laufey."
Thor shook his head sadly, anger starting to drain away.  "Loki, what you did for the administration of the city, I could not have matched.  The Nine Realms need your skill, but the throne is more than that."
"So I am to accept your flattery, and stand in your shadow some more, to make your reign look good?  No, brother, for once in your life, see me," Loki hissed. An abrupt gesture dispelled his glamour, leaving blue skin and glowing red eyes.
"Yes, Thor," Loki said, gesturing at himself, "this is what you call brother."
Thor stared at his brother for a long moment, but then started speaking softly. "There was a time, when we eight or so.  I saw a beautiful snake, gold and green, and picked it up... "
"And then I stabbed you," Loki said, chuckling, "I knew you loved snakes. You're so easy to fool... "
Thor boomed out a laugh.  "That's my brother."
Loki shot a frustrated glare at Thor, before resuming his Aesir guise.
"Now, where is Father?"  Thor asked again.
"I left him on Midgard, as I told you,"  Loki said.  "I can show you where."
"Very well.  We will retrieve him on the morrow.  However, before you give up this guise, would you grant Jane permission to access the locked files of the library?  I do have several Infinity Stones left to find, and Jane believes there may be information there."
Loki pulled a small keylike object out of the air.  "This should grant access to the secured holographic archives.  I must admit, I am curious to see what is contained there.  It was one of the things I meant to investigate, but there were things to do and committees to oversee..."
Thor snorted and reached to take the key.  Loki pulled it back out of his grasp. "Do you mind if I tag along?  Surely your lovely mortal will wish to investigate immediately, and I must admit, I am curious," Loki said, resuming the appearance of Odin.
"Very well, though after Odin's behavior toward her, I would not expect a warm welcome,"  Thor replied.
Loki turned and walked out the door.  Before he followed, Thor turned to Volstagg and Hogun, and spoke.
"Not a word of this.  Not to anyone, not until this has been cleared up,"  Thor warned.
Hogun nodded immediately.  Volstagg opened his mouth to object, and Thor stared him down for a long moment.  Eventually, he nodded.
Thor strode out the double doors, trying to catch up with Loki.  He reached the library in time to see Loki stride toward where Jane was working with one of the hologram terminals.
"My son informs me that you wish to access the locked files," Loki said.  "We do not normally grant such access to outsiders.  However, my son has been very persuasive about the need for such research."
"I...ah... thank you," Jane replied.
"Repay me by aiding my son's quest," Loki said, walking over to a recessed section of the wall and inserting the key.  The concealed door slid open, revealing a tiny room thick with dust.  There were no books here, only a single hologram terminal in the center of the room .
As soon as the three of them entered, the door slid shut behind them, crunching back into place.  Jane whirled to look at the door, abruptly feeling trapped.
Thor, however, was pleased.  "Drop your illusion, brother," he said.
"What?" snapped Loki.
"Jane is trustworthy," Thor said.  "Drop the illusion.   I would have told her the truth as soon as we were alone, and if you drop the illusion yourself, Jane might be less annoyed with you."
Loki sighed and let the illusion fall.
"You've been pretending to be Odin this whole time?"  Jane asked, incredulous. "You've been sitting up on that throne, being an absolute jerk to me and Thor, and it was you this whole time?"
"Guilty as charged," Loki said.  "I must confess, I too am curious about the contents of this room.  So now that the social pleasantries have been observed, allow me to activate this."
He inserted the same key into the console, activating it.  A large hologram flared to life above it, blood-red and hazy from dust before the other colors flowed in.  At the top of the twisting text and images stood the unmistakable image of Odin, in battle armor, with both eyes, and at his side stood a woman in a horned headdress, a familiar hammer in hand.
Jane's eyes dropped to the text and started reading as fast as the translation magic of the Allspeak could keep up.
"Thor, am I reading this right?" Jane asked, uncertain.  "This says that Odin's heir is a woman, named Hela.  And she wielded Mjolnir in the conquest of the Nine Realms."
The ringing crash of Mjolnir hitting the floor echoed through the palace.

A short tidbit for day 6 of Fosterson Week (Outside POV).  This time we’re getting Darcy’s perspective on Jane and Thor as the king and queen of the Asgardian remnant.
Darcy looked around the Great Hall.  This was not what she'd envisioned getting out of her summer when she'd signed up for that internship so many years ago.
The hall fell silent around her, and Darcy turned toward the door to see Thor enter, arm in arm with Jane.  Thor looked briefly around the hall before nodding and gesturing for the Asgardians to return to eating dinner.
The pair walked up the center of the hall, straight for the head table where their own meals waited for them.  Dressed in long tunics with their cloaks fanning out behind them,  Thor and Jane looked like royalty.
Darcy hadn't gotten to see her old boss in person in years, not since before Jane and Thor's breakup and reunion.  The last time she'd seen them, they'd been living together in London.  She'd gotten used to Thor as Jane's boisterous, friendly boyfriend, who had taken over the part of Darcy's duties that revolved around reminding her rather nerdy boss to eat and have fun.
She’d always known that Thor was actually a prince, in an intellectual sense.  His role as one of the Avengers had been a little more familiar to Darcy, but even that had been distant from their everyday life in London.
Seeing the pair of them together, reigning over the remaining Asgardians, and looking every inch the part of royalty just felt weird.
As they reached their seats, Thor turned to face Jane, before bowing slightly and brushing a kiss over her fingertips.  Jane turned pink.
Some things, Darcy thought, haven't changed at all.

Fosterson Week Day 4: Romantic Gestures
@fostersonweek –> Highlight some tender moments between Jane and Thor, whether they are canon or not.
“Miss Scarlett, with the knife, in the dining room,” Thor said confidently. Steve picked the envelope and dumped out the three cards, flipping them over to confirm Thor’s accusation.
“Wow, you’re good,” Sharon remarked, collecting up the other cards and sorting them back into their categories. “Do we want to go again, or move on to Monopoly?”
“And let Point Break dig himself into an even deeper hole with his girlfriend?” Tony joked, only to get swatted on the arm by Pepper.
“Did Tony get in trouble when he used to win?” Jane asked Pepper sweetly.
“We never really did game night before you guys moved in,” Pepper answered, taking a sip of her Merlot.
“Then I suppose he wouldn’t understand,” chuckled Thor.
“Hey, I’m right here, don’t talk like I’m invisible,” Tony complained. “What am I not understanding?”
“Simple,” Jane took the deck from Sharon and separated a card from each pile before shuffling the rest together. “Thor knows that I don’t want him to let me win. When I do kick his ass at Game Night, it’s going to be all me.”
“We played Risk for nearly three hours last time, she was a formidable opponent,” Thor confirmed proudly. “And a hard earned victory on my part.”
“You guys are so cute, it’s almost gross,” Sharon laughed. “Are you going to start taking that strategy with me, Steve?”
“Have you forgotten how you whupped me at poker? I’m the one who’s fighting to beat you,” Steve replied, kissing her cheek.
“I hate game night,” Tony muttered.
“It’s alright, honey, I still love you,” Pepper soothed. “So, do we want to keep the same colors, or switch it up this time?”
The rain came so suddenly, Tony very nearly fell off the landing platform as he came down. Jane had to suppress a giggle as she watched him sputtering and cursing while his armor retracted. “I thought we were very clear about weather warnings!” he fumed. Jane shrugged and continued to sit where she was on the balcony, letting the torrential downpour of water soak through her multiple layers of her flannel.
“It’s my birthday, and Thor likes doing these kinds of grand gestures. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I denied him that?”
“One who has concern for his teammates, especially the one funding her research,” Tony grumbled, standing under the balcony overhang. “And how is a thunderstorm a grand gesture?”
Jane just smiled and held up her hand, fingers spread wide as she counted down from five. When she reached one, the sky lit up in Asgardian runes spelling her name. “That’s how. And you might want to skedaddle and find Pepper, the weather’s only going to get worse.”
“Why would it—” Tony stopped as she waggled her eyebrows. “Oh, you two are disgusting.”
“Don’t be a hater, Stark.”
“Slide your foot back a little.”
“Like this?”
“Yeah, now wait til I’m back behind the safety glass and try it again.” Jane hurried out of the training room and sealed the door. “Okay, now.”
The laser blasts starts going off, and Thor used the adjusted position that Jane gave him to dodge and deflect them as needed. When the dust from the projectiles cleared, he grinned and gave her a lopsided thumbs-up, which she returned with a smile. “That was better.”
“That was physics,” she countered smugly.
“I’m familiar with the term.” He started to loosen the straps of his armor as he approached the opening doors. “But I think you elevate to magic.”
“Aw, shush.” Jane’s cheeks turned pink. “You’re just saying that.”
“You know I am not.” He kissed the top of her head as they walked into the kitchen and she started up the coffee maker. “I am never anything but honest with you.”
“Birthday presents?”
"The whole point of gifts is to be surprised by them, I stand by adhering to that tradition.”
“Yeah, sure.” The tower’s alarms blared to life and the two of them sighed, Thor refastening his armor into place.
“Babe, hang on.” Jane grabbed his cape and as he turned around, she tossed him a muffin. “You’re not going into battle on an empty stomach.”
He caught the pastry and bent down to kiss her. “I’ll see you in the lab when we get back.”

Fosterson Week, Day 2: Canon Divergence
Jane thought punching Loki the first time felt good. Getting to punch him four times before Topaz pulled her off him felt even better. “You should have stayed dead!” she shouted, trying to wriggle free. Loki just stared at her in disbelief.
“Janey, Janey, Janey,” the Grandmaster laughed as he watched the spectacle. “What about my new guest has got you so, uh, worked up?”
“Remember the boyfriend’s brother I mentioned?” she asked, finally breaking out of Topaz’s grip.
“This is the invade-y one that died?" The Grandmaster’s eyes moved up and down Loki.
“We thought he died,” Jane muttered.
“Well, that’s a story I have to hear.”
“I hope you’ll excuse me, then, sir. I still have a lot of work to do.” Jane shot Loki another glare before looking at the Grandmaster again.
“Alright, Janey, just give be sure to me an update on your gizmos and doodads tomorrow,” he said breezily. Jane clenched her teeth in a smile and resisted the urge to punch him too.
Living in a high-tech alien civilization where she got to work with their tech had been a lot cooler in her head. Asgard had been closer, and that had included an evil alien parasite using her as a host and sapping her energy, Odin insulting her and demeaning her, invasion by evil elves who killed Frigga, getting put under house arrest, and a really exhausting escape.
Here on Sakaar, she had basically become the Grandmaster’s pet for a year and a half, and she was pretty sure he kept sending his minions to mess with her stuff when she went to sleep or left her lab, just to keep her around.
And now Loki was around. Joy.
After that little run-in, the mandatory parties became even more intolerable, one giant game of keep-away-from-Loki-and-the-Grandmaster. If she’d had any kind of political savvy, she’d have tried to get Loki an appointment with the pardoning stick, but she knew how to pick her battles, and the god of mischief was the last person to have a political vendetta with.
So she kept her head down. Pilfered what she could to keep building her portal back home. She would finish it eventually, the Grandmaster was only delaying the inevitable.
Then came the day when there was actually a reason to be at the party. She was hiding in the corner, making a few adjustments to the quantum screwdriver she’d cobbled together when she smelled electrical discharge and heard a very familiar, deep voice. Thor, shouting Loki’s name.
“Hey!” She crammed the screwdriver back into her pocket as she tried to charge after the guards wheeling him away, only for her skirt to get pinned down by someone’s foot. Whirling around, she saw the Grandmaster smiling at her, looking higher than usual.
“What’s the hurry, Janey?”
“Please tell me you are not sending my boyfriend into the arena,” she implored.
“Ohhh, right, Lord of Thunder would be your boyfriend, wouldn’t he?” The Grandmaster chuckled. “Maybe we should play that up in the promotions beforehand. You’re coming to the match, no arguments.”
“Are you kidding me? No, I’m not going to be part...how the hell did this even happen?”
“142 found him. Said he’s a contender.”
“142 is a nihilistic alcoholic mess who doesn’t care about anyone but herself!” Jane fumed. “Call it off. He’s not a slave.”
“Janey.”
“I am not calling them prisoners with jobs!”
“Shh, shh, save some of that spitfire for the main event.”
Oh, she really wanted to punch him.
Thor opened his eyes to find Jane sitting over him. “I don’t suppose this is Valhalla,” he croaked.
“Not exactly.” She bent down and kissed him very softly before dabbing at one of the cuts on his arms. “I’m so sorry this all happened to you.”
“How are you here?” He tried to sit up, but she placed a hand on his chest.
“Stay down, I’m still working. And to answer your question, Imploded wormhole generator in my lab. I don’t know how long it’s been on Earth, but it’s been a year and a half here,” she admitted.
“Oh, Jane.” He stopped as he realized there was someone else in the room, breathing heavily. Despite Jane’s best efforts, he sat up, making out the form of the Hulk sitting in what looked like a hot tub. For a moment, the two of them stared at each other. “Are we good?” Thor prompted, receiving only a huff in reply.
“Look, I need to get back to my lab before it gets trashed too much,” Jane interjected. “The Grandmaster keeps trying to curb my progress. But I promise, I’ll be back as soon as I can. But first,” she paused to produce an odd looking wand-like instrument from the pocket of her dress. “Let’s see if I can’t get this off.” She held it up to the disk on his neck and Thor winced as it sparked against his skin. “I’m sorry, hold on, almost...got it.” She pulled the disk off. “Hang on to this, you might need it.”
“Clever as always, Jane Foster.” He smiled, and she kissed him again, a little more aggressively this time. “You swear to return?”
“I give you my word.” She deepened her voice to intimidate him, and he managed to laugh.
“Puny science girl,” Hulk muttered.
“Banner likes Jane,” retorted Thor. “And we need to talk.”
Jane was in the middle of working on the spectrometer when the guards came and dragged her into the throne room where the Grandmaster was dismissing Scrapper 142 and Loki.
“Janey, I’m really sorry to do this, but your boyfriend’s gonna have to die. It’s sad, you two must’ve been cute, but this is business.”
Then it clicked, just as the guards released their grips on her arms. “You’re about to try and make me into a hostage, aren’t you?”
The Grandmaster chuckled. “Sorry, but it’s poetic, you know? ”
“Please, don’t.”
“Janey—”
“Right, looks like I have to do this.” She pulled out her screwdriver and hit the detonator switch she’d hidden on the end, throwing it on the ground before she started running. “Bye!” The blast went off just as the mooks started chasing her, giving her the chance to swerve in the same direction she’d seen Loki and 142 go. And 142 had Loki knocked out flat on his back. “I wanna know how you did that.”
“You’re with the blond idiot?”
“Thor?”
“Yeah, him.”
“We’re a thing, yeah.”
“Then come on.”
“Surprise.”
Thor immediately flung the nearest bottle at Loki’s head, just to make sure he was real, then noticed Jane scribbling on the walls. “Hjarta, what are you doing?”
“Well, thing is, all my research is back in my lab at the Grandmaster’s palace, so I can’t go back and get it, which means we don’t have my wormhole generator to get out of here. Which means we’re gonna need to go through one of the wormholes, and our best shot is probably the big one, which is also dealing with a a collapsing neutron star—”
“I tried to tell her that we should find a clean one, but apparently, she’s insisting on the Devil’s Anus,” Valkyrie complained.
“Hey, after what you told me about Hela, we’re on a time crunch, right, Brynnhilde?” Jane shot back. “So, anyway, I’m trying to get the coordinates down right, because we’re only going to have one shot.”
“And we’re going to need a ship,” Valkyrie interjected. “Mine would get torn to pieces in that thing.
“The Grandmaster has a great many ships. And I may have the access codes,” Loki spoke up, only to get another bottle launched in his direction by Valkyrie.
“He’s not serious, is he?” Banner asked. “We’re not actually going to trust him?”
“He’s Loki,” Thor said with a groan. “We can trust him to what’s in his best interests, which currently align with ours.”
“Thor,” Jane said warningly. “Remember what happened last time.” Thor turns his palm to her briefly, showing the obedience disc she pulled off him.
“We will work with what we have. But first, we need to start a revolution.”

Fosterson Week, Day 4 -> Romantic Gestures
Back to my other set of mini-fics for this one.  Enormously fluffy, this one.
Previous parts: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5
"My lady, you might want to look up from your terminal," Aerin whispered to Jane.
"Huh?"  Jane said, scrolling through her notes on the power lattices for the storm barriers being planned for the residential blocks before looking up to see
Thor leaning on her desk, smiling softly. "Oh!"
Aerin smiled and returned to her work.
"Time for dinner soon,"  Thor said.  "Walk with me?"
"We're so close to getting the storm barriers ready..."
"Jane," Thor said, a hint of reproach in his tone.  "The project will be there tomorrow, as will all the rest of New Asgard."
"All right, I'm coming,"  Jane said,  turning off her terminal and getting up to join him.  Thor gave her a soft smile before tucking her hand in his arm and leading her out of the lab.
Outside, the sun was setting, turning the light red and purple.  Thor turned toward the promenade by the edge of the sea.
They walked together in companionable silence for awhile, enjoying the sound of the waves and each other's company.   Thor found a bench that had been placed facing west, overlooking the setting sun, and tugged Jane down to join him.
"Jane, I know I have disrupted every plan that you had for your life-" Thor said
"Thor, no!  I chose to come here, to stay with you,"  Jane exclaimed.
Thor leaned in and silenced her with a kiss.
"Now, as I was saying,"  Thor said softly, as he pulled away to stand in front of her.  "I have quite upended your life.  Perhaps it is selfish of me, but I would have it no other way.  You have made me the man I am now, and if you did not wish to be my queen, I would have no other."
"But there is at least one normal, Midgardian thing that I can do for you," he said, before going down on one knee, and producing a golden ring with a small diamond in it.
"Jane Foster, will you marry me?"
"Yes," Jane said, letting him take her hand and slide the ring on her finger before throwing herself into his arms.  Thor returned the embrace, pulling her close and ducking his head to catch her lips in another kiss.
When they broke apart for air, Thor whispered, "Did I get it right?"
"So right," Jane said.
Thor stood up, holding out a hand to help Jane get up as well.  Without Thor's body shielding her from the wind off the sea, she shivered.
Thor pulled Jane closer, putting his arm around her shoulders, before adjusting the folds of his heavy cloak to fall over them both.  Jane nestled into his embrace, savoring his warmth.
"Time to go in, I think," Thor said, "Dinner awaits."
Jane's stomach grumbled loudly, and Thor chuckled.
"Definitely dinnertime," he said.
