Make sure to interact with your clients and partners in a language they understand, and preferably their native tongue, when it's time for your business to expand and enter new markets internationally. A lot of you guys were asking which platforms to join for freelancing.⁣ ⁣ Here are the top 3 freelancing platforms:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Fiverr (My Recommendation - Link In Bio)⁣ 2️⃣ UpWork⁣ 3️⃣ Freelancer⁣ ⁣ You can all of these platforms if you want but if you are a beginner, I recommend you to focus on one platform.⁣ ⁣ Build your authority and trust first and then move on to the next platforms.⁣ ⁣ My recommendation is Fiverr because this is the platform that I use personally. I've tried all the three platforms listed here but I don't like the other two platforms.⁣ ⁣ At last, it's your choice. I'm here to help you!⁣ ⁣ ⁣ --------------------------------------------------⁣ Follow me on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram @itsBishnuMahali for more such content!⁣ --------------------------------------------------⁣ ⁣ #freelance #freelancer #freelancing #freelancewriter #freelancework #freelancemodel #freelancegraphicdesigner #freelancetranslator #workfromhome https://www.instagram.com/p/B3d4d0BA7sR/?igshid=kngbb38xck93

Translating idioms
An idiom is an expression where the meaning is implied and the literal meaning of the words often doesn’t make sense. For example: it’s raining cats and dogs doesn’t mean that there are cats and dogs falling from the sky, it means that it’s raining really hard. Idioms can be a real headache to translate sometimes because there isn’t always an equivalent in the target language. In my experience you get one of three scenarios:
1. You get lucky and the TL has a pretty close equivalent or something that means the same thing.
2. You have to find a work around because it's just not something that would be said in the TL culture. This often means you can’t use an idiom in the TL and you have to find a way to convey the meaning and accept that you may have to lose something in the flow or style of the sentence.
3. You know, or are pretty sure, that there is an equivalent in the TL and it's right on the tip of your tongue but you just can't quite get there!
In the third scenario, I find taking a break from that section tends to help: I'll add a comment to the document and put in a list of potential options to consider later and move on to the next section. This is particularly useful if I’m not ready to fully commit to one of them. Often when I do go back to it I can decide which one works best or even use the notes I've made to jog my brain into finding the right one!

Translation work – R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Find out what it means to me I have a lot of translation work to do. It’s Easter today and my kids are home, not at school. After hours of playing on their Ipad, they are getting bored and suddenly feel that I should become their personal entertainer. As a result, it looks like my productivity is going down the drain. Sound familiar? Time to gain some respect for my translation work and have my job as a translator taken seriously. A Little Respect (Just a Little Bit) Many people complain that the work of a translator is not recognised or valued by clients and the labour market, and that we are increasingly underestimated mainly when it comes to values. However, we barely realise that it is equally important to educate those who spend the most time with us i.e our family. When doing translation work, let’s agree that no one deserves to hear from relatives things like "But you do not work!" Or "You simply stay on your computer all day!". Not to mention having to deal with gatherings of all sorts, whenever it seems that everyone has decided to meet and share party dips and you have a very tight deadline. And you have to fence the occasional "When will you stop what you’re doing and have some fun for once? This can wait" Or even worse – "When will you get a real job?". Well, here are some tips for you to impose your chosen profession and get rid of those unpleasant questions. Read the full article

I’ve spoken a few times about my #orangutan days before. Some have taken it to mean that I used to be an orangutan once . . . . . . well, that was a different age, and I’d rather not say anything more about it. But there’s another meaning to it, and it’s this. My first major #translation job in 2007, before I had even finished my #undergraduate course. I wasn’t as experienced back then as I now am and there are quite a few things I would have done differently — most importantly, I would have demanded a galley proof copy to review and revise one last time before the main print run — but it was still quite a valuable experience that introduced me to the ups and downs of life as a professional #freelancetranslator . #orangutans #translator https://www.instagram.com/p/CDYHmpFnJZv/?igshid=1fjbroy8rsu8u

🇪🇸👇 We could be called MAGICIANS... . 🧙 As translators and copywriters, we use our magic to connect people through texts. . Where is our recognition? We go unnoticed before the eyes of people, we’re like ghosts, but we have a great responsibility in our society. We connect the world: we translate patient information leaflets, car manuals, textbooks, clinical trials, etc. We spread knowledge from one side of the planet to the other. . Can you imagine the world without translation? . 🇪🇸 [Español] . Nos podrían denominar MAGOS... . . ¿Os imagináis el mundo sin la traducción? #translationservices #freelancetranslator #traductores #translations #languagestudy #multilingual #traductormedico #traductorargentino #traduccioneinterpretacion https://www.instagram.com/p/B6kssq_gQJC/?igshid=17rans72bt3sr

今月はソーシャルメディアも見る時間すら惜しいほど本当に缶詰め状態で仕事していたのですが、一昨日からクライアントのシステム(正確にはクライアントのクライアント)がダウンして作業できないので、今だ!とばかりに、美容室に行ったりジョギングしたりおやつ作ったりしました✨システムダウンも悪いことばかりじゃない(笑) 来月頭の納期は調整されるけど早く終わらせて温泉に行きたい(-。-; I’ve been so stuck at the current project chased by its deadline this month and I couldn’t even look at social medias as I felt like I’d waste my time on that. But since the day before yesterday because the client ’s system has been down and I am officially unable to work. So, I thought now is the time! I went to the beauty salon, went for jogging and baked some new recipes. ✨ The system down is not all bad:D The deadline will be extended but I want to finish this asap and take a holiday(-.-; #lifoffreelancer #freelancetranslator #systemdown #enjoyautumn #autumnscene #fallenleaves #stonepavement #フリーランス生活 #フリーランス翻訳者 #システムダウン #秋を楽しむ #秋のシーン #落ち葉 #石畳み https://www.instagram.com/p/B22eGnCnhaA/?igshid=1tb7bnvp3fx9x
