In one of my new artworks, I made a stamp for the State of Palestine. Since we are not allowed to stamp any passport from Palestine according to the Oslo Accords of 1993, I started stamping the passports of people who visited Palestine with a rounded stamp that I designed with the sentence ‘State of Palestine’ written in Arabic and English. I placed a jasmine flower and a bird in the middle to reflect the high and positive spirits, as well as the hospitality of the Palestinian people. As for the bird, in my research I learned that there was a Palestinian bird (the Palestine sunbird) that Israel was trying to rename in order to use it as its national bird, so I decided to use it in my design.

Slide two:
Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Mary cradles the infant Jesus as mothers often hold their martyred children. Joseph consoles her. The Shepherds are in flight, carrying bundle of belongings. The magi come, instead of the traditional gifts, they come bearing white shrouds. The scene is admist rubble and barbed wire and the house behind them is destroyed. There is no shelter. Bombing has created a hole in the shape of a star, where the light comes from. The sculptor is Tariq Salsa.

"You're very strangely welcoming"
"I don't mean it as a compliment....
"You're. Very. Strangely. Welcoming...
You call in guests and people who used to be wanderers and lost purposes and let them in the warmth of your house/you serve them tea/ you feed them bread/ in scorching heat and freezing winters, in stormy days and gloomy nights you become their shelter
until they have their way in your house, they start stealing from you everything dear to you and they accuse you of all their crimes, they destroy your precious heart, leave it wounded spreading blood in your already red carpet.
They destroy your home, they take away from you; your closest people.
Then they claim to be the father's of the house breaking any object they come across in rage; rage that you do not deserve to be a part of.
You allow them inside your home again.
Your heart is like a refugee camp that shelters the oppressors
your heart is Gaza.
Under whose rubble lies the bodies of your own people
Under whose land lies the safe tunnels that shelter the clan of your own oppressors."
