thank you so much to everyone who tried out for our network! some difficult cuts were made just because we had so many applicants, but in an effort to allow as many into the net as possible, there is now an ilvermorny team! eventually, the quidditchteamnet hopes to expand enough that we create four complete teams for each house of ilvermorny! however, as the network gets up and running there will be just one.

I know you probably applied expecting to become a part of your hogwarts house team, and therefore I understand if you don’t want to be a part of the ilvermorny team. if that’s the case please let me (megan, @quidditchplayer ) know asap. a note to those who applied and were not chosen or who missed the application deadline: thank you so much for your interest in the quidditchteamnet. if you were not chosen, please don’t take it personally. unfortunately, a large number of amazing blogs didn’t make the network this time around. the issue with creating quidditch teams is that there are a limited number of spots available. I did my best to rearrange and accommodate as many people as possible, including creating the ilvermorny team and moving myself from the house I most often identify as (ravenclaw) and placing myself in gryffindor in order to create room for an additional player. I truly wish that I could allow everyone into the network, but for now that’s not feasible. it’s very likely that applications will reopen, and therefore I implore you to continue to check out the network, continue following us, and apply or reapply when the opportunity presents itself. additionally, we will be having at least a few (if not many) events open to anyone who is interested in participating. feel free to use the tag quidditchteamnet on any edits that are even slightly related to quidditch so that we can notice them! again, thank you so very much for your support and understanding.

wandless magic: class covering how to channel magic through discreet hand movements rather than a wand

temporal charms: advanced charms course that deals with bending time-space – such as pausing a moment for a few minutes longer, or setting time limits for certain tasks

group legilimency: often used by the beauxbatons sports teams and theatre & dance companies, this technique allows members of a team to communicate with each other through legilimency during a game or a performance

worst classes:

perfume potions: potions that rely on smell to affect the target/subject, instead of oral ingestion

garden transfiguration: a branch of transfiguration that also combines with herbology. the art of growing a garden basically out of nothing. this skill was used extensively during the third task of the 1994 triwizard tournament held at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry

elective courses:

show-dueling: half-dueling half-performance, this class teaches students to crush their opponents with skill but also to dazzle the onlookers with elaborate spells

symphony casting: type of wordless magic that relies on music. the wizard is expected to use the rhythms and refrains of the music to direct their magic

extracurricular activities:

beauxbatons ballet company: beauxbatons has its own company that puts on performances for wizarding audiences all over the world. maintains a rivalry with the koldovstoretz ballet company, as well as the one from the italian academy of magic

dueling club: club where students spar with each other and practice new spells

additional duties:

head girl: this one is self-explanatory

editor of school newspaper: editor for the arts section of the school newspaper

favourite haunts:

the beauxbatons gallery: not nearly as formal as you would expect. there are paintings of famous alumni and also student work covering the gallery walls from head to toe, and in the middle of the room there are many comfortable leather chairs to sink into – whether you are there only to admire the art, or to get some peace and quiet

school boulangerie et pâtisserie: casual café spot to grab something delicious before class or hitting the library

pet: russian blue catshort drabble:

there’s something about beauxbatons that feels invincible. it’s never more than one thing – there’s always two sides to the coin; something sweet and alluring, something dangerous and dazzling.

its halls are gorgeous shrines to the success of the school; but hidden in its walls are the knife-edged ambitions that drove beauxbatons students there. behind each charming smile of a beauxbatons student is a relentless hunger to be better. and within each graceful whip of a wand is the equal power for brutality.

as you walk to class, your head held high and your footsteps sharp against the marble floor, you feel the two sides of beauxbatons mix within you like the finest alchemy. you are the princess; but you are also the hero. you are to be admired, and also respected. just as all flowers have thorns, all beauxbatons students have steel within their souls.

magic to you, is a sword in your hand, a crown upon your head. you are the perfect duality, the invincible monarch. you will dance like salome; and the heads of those who dare stand in your way will roll upon the floor. you smile, sweet as a rose, keen as a wolf. to beauxbatons, this is magic – the charm of it and the power of it. the beauty and the stick.
