james often forgets the car is in reverse and frequently launches backwards into other cars. its actually how he met lily

at dinner parties he says ‘my shit driving helped me meet the love of my life’ and she’ll roll her eyes and say ‘it almost killed the love of your life’ because they’re That™ couple

sirius refuses to drive because ‘to touch anything other than my bike is like cheating’ and also peter refuses to teach him

once peter and lily run out of gas and have to call james to come and get them and james says ‘I don’t have a car’ and peter says ‘so bus’ and james literally busses down to go get them

remus buys a car for his twenty-third birthday and comes out a week later to find sirius fucking someone in the backseat so he sells the car and doesn’t talk to sirius for nine days

lily is better than all of them at mario cart and she says this means more than a licence

once, when plastered, remus gets in peter’s car and tries to drive himself home only he doesn’t have the keys so he roughly jams his debt card into the keyhole and shouts ‘HACKED’

for her birthday james gets lily a personalised plate with ‘POTTERED’ on it as a joke and she breaks up with him

she formally takes him back later that night at two in the morning when he’s on his knees with one hand in the toilet bowl, trying to fish out her keys

‘james ive decided to un-dump you’ ‘how very fucking nice of you. Pass me that loo roll as I have literal shit under my fingernails’

at their wedding instead of ‘JUST MARRIED’ on the back of the car sirius writes ‘JUST SHITTY PEOPLE’ and lily gives him her bouquet while james pisses himself laughing
