Tim reluctantly switching the Red Robin mask from a full cowl back to a domino even though he's not too pleased about losing the greater level of protection - because Dick!Bats (and then Nightwing once Dick switched back) kept automatically going for hair ruffles and getting Big, Big Sad at being cruelly Blocked.

Nightwing: (morosely rubbing over the curve of Red Robin's smooth black head) it's just not the same...

Thank you so much for the ask! <3 <3 <3 (questions come from this ask meme) 6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list?

The vast majority of the fics on my list are wips, though one that I haven't started yet but really want to is a DickTim Witcher AU that I cooked up with my beta reader. Contrary to expectation, they're both mages within the setting rather than witchers. I consider this one not started yet, but I do have a tiny bit of it written, which is here as an excerpt:

Tim didn't cry when his parents gave him up.  How could he, when it was all but expected? Ending up on the wrong side of a succession crisis had thrown his parents’ political position into disarray. They’d been scrambling for any shred of influence, desperate to stay just one step ahead of the assassin’s blade. What is one life weighed against the legacy of a family and its ability to survive another day?  The first lesson that Tim learns at Ban Ard is that his life is worth several thousand crowns, a promise of political protection from the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, and the look of relief on his parents’ faces when they turn away from him for what he will eventually know to be the final time. The heavy hand that rests on his shoulder is little comfort in the face of this revelation. A handful of confusing, blurred-together days later, the second thing that Tim learns at Ban Ard is that Dick Grayson is the most beautiful person he’s ever seen

My beta reader knows way more about the witcher universe than I do, so I'm relying on them pretty heavily for details here lol 13. Aside from fanfic, are there any other fan works you’d like to try creating? Fanart, or fanvids, gifsets, or podfic?  Possibly podfic? Though it's not a skillset I possess, outside of at one point attempting to audio record the first chapter of Red in Tooth and Claw while drunk lol

i am absolutely determined to finish my year of the otp/year of jason and slade series before the end of the month. a snippet from the dicktim i've been working on:

Sneaking in to run Dick a nice bath after a long day with Bruce is the least he can do, really. And, probably more importantly, he wants to. Wants to make Dick feel good in any way that he can. He can tell that Dick wants the same thing - he brings Tim coffee to the Bunker or the office, makes him stop working when he can and makes sure Tim eats when he can’t. Actions speak louder than words for both of them, and they’re putting in the work to make it work. Tim’s never had a relationship like this, really. He’s pretty sure he’s never been happier.

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes this year?

i don't know about new tropes, but i do want to get that DickTim trope fill thing off the ground today...

YESSSSSSSS okay I'm gonna do both ships, because neither has been asked yet!

We're going to start with Jaytim though, because obviously I ship it 😂

What made you ship it?

There was a fic by Timmyjaybird that I read that had unrequited Jaytim (different main pairing with Tim), and their dynamic piqued my interest. I decided to click into the ship page, read strange fear I ain't felt for years by sister, and then it was over for me. If you know me, you'll know I always say that all it takes is reading one good fic for a ship and I'll start shipping it. Plus I'm a Tim kinnie and Jason is so so hot, so theres definitely a projection character/attraction character thing going on

What are your favorite things about the ship?

All the ways I can play with them. They can be fucked up, unstable, unwell, obsessive (on both sides). They can be bitter and angry and fall into each other (which I tend to favor in longer works). They can be soft and sweet and gentle and forgiving. They can be blushing and nervous and uncertain. They can be petty and annoyed and really into riling each other up. It ALWAYS works. And also, there's something I find so fascinating about the way they accidentally helped create each other. Tim as Robin happened mostly because of Jason, and Jason becoming Red Hood and going after Bruce gets set into motion because he finds out about Tim. They're a feedback loop and neither of them is happy with the results. Okay, I have to stop here before this turns into a dissertation. Or before I spoil a future fic which I already had to erase a spoiler for so next question

Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

A little bit? I think my only opinion that some people disagree with (but isn't necessarily unpopular) is that I don't like the whole Pit Madness thing. When Jason came back he had a fucked up plan, and he wasn't entirely in his right mind, but he justified it. He was doing the wrong thing for the right reasons when it came to Tim (being mad at Bruce because he's going to get Tim killed and then he almost kills Tim to prove the point). It's something I explore in my fics at almost every opportunity, because I think it's too easy to let Jason off the hook by blaming it on the pit. It also frustrates me because it doesn't really matter whether or not he meant to hurt Tim, because he did. And I like watching him take responsibility for the knowledge that he wanted to hurt Tim, and being forced to confront the realization that his logic at the time involved a lot of mental gymnastics, and grapple with the idea that it might not be a thing he can fix and that even if it is, Tim probably shouldn't forgive him, and definitely shouldn't get involved with him. Okay, halfway through writing this I realized that I definitely have an unpopular opinion about them, but I'm not erasing all that, so you get both. I hate the nickname babybird. I know. I know! I hear you all disagreeing with me. I see you all throwing tomatoes at me. I just don't like it! I don't think it's cute. I like little red or little bird much better, personally.

Okay I'm also gonna do JayRoy but this is getting long, so I'm gonna put the rest under the cut.

What made you ship it?

I think one of my friends told me they knew it was a ship and they thought it was cute sometimes and I checked it out? I've actually been reading Jayroy since before I read Jaytim. And as previously stated, all it takes is one good fic.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Honestly I just love their relationship so much. Roy is one of the few people Jason ever really allows to get close to him after becoming Red Hood (if we're ignoring the whole being brought back into the batfamily thing which I have a Lot of Opinions about, but that's a story for another time, anyone reading this can feel free to send me an ask if you want the rant), and I really just love the way they understand each other and are there for each other. I also love that they're assholes to each other. Roy is so irritating and Jason should hate it but he can't and he doesn't because Roy is too endearing and genuine. It's sweet. It's the angry one and the sunshine one.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

I guess? I think they work better as friends who also sleep together. Like, I don't necessarily think they should date. I think that if they ever ended up in a long-term relationship, it would be because Jason realizes he hasn't slept with anyone else in years and they've been partners for even longer than that. But when it comes to things that healthy relationships should have, I don't really see them having it. It's not healthy to start dating someone because you realize you already are after not talking about it for years. I think too much of the responsibility and emotional labor would fall on Roy, and I think he deserves better.

This whole idea is literally just because I saw @gerryrigged in my notes and went hmmm haven't thought about DickTim in a while

Tim is undercover in a club when he spots Dick in the crowd, he thinks Dick doesn't recognize him especially by the way he catches Dick check him out, he thinks nothing of it because he assumes he isn't Dicks type

Especially with how young he looks (he's actually still underage Robin era)

Knowing Dick is there in the club excites him and he starts to show off and dance more heated, def gets flirted with by a lot of people, someone tries to make the moves at him grinding against him when two hot arms pull him back

It's Dick who's grinding into him now smirking dark and dirty down at him and Tim can't help the shudder, he still thinks Dick doesn't recognize him especially because he asks for his name.

He knows he should do the reasonable thing and tell Dick to back off, if he ever finds out he won't forgive himself but it's Dick and he can't really resist it.

He could just go along with whatever Dick has planned and enjoy it, hide it away in that dirty dark part of his mind and pray the other never finds out about this. Have a taste just once (even when he knows it would ruin him forever) so he does, he lets Dick drag him into a quiet corner, makes out with him heavily, wonders quietly in a part of his mind if Dick always has a thing for underage looking dudes

Gets himself dragged to one of Dick's safehouses and then, when they barely stumbled inside he gets slammed against the door violently, picked up entirely of his feet and fuck that's hot, until Dick suddenly growls out Tim's name, Tim's name, asking him how long he'd planned to play coy with Dick and try to hide this from him. How long he'd thought he'd could fool Dick as if Dick couldn't clock his little brother out of a crowd and fuck that name does something to him and he has to arch up and moan into Dicks mouth, their faces still barely apart as Dick basically pants the accusations into it

Can't help himself as he grinds up into Dick and oh he's still hard, Dick is hard because of him and he knew it was Tim the entire time, can't help but let out a broken moan at the realization and it's as if that broke the last of Dick restraint

next thing he knows he's face down and ass up on a mattress as Dick pounds into him, entire bedframe shaking with his trusts as he calls Tim all manner of names, whore, slut, dirty little brother trying to seduce his elders,playing coy with Dick and putting on a show for him as if he didn't know who Dick was, as if he didn't know it was his elder brother he was grinding against who's hands he had on his waist as they danced in the club, how desperate he must been for a good pounding if he went out to random clubs for an one night stand when he could just come ask his big brother for help

Anyway yeah Dick being a dirty older man who is just very into fucking his underage kid brother <3

It's 9/17 and what better way to celebrate than with one of my all time favourite racecars, the Porsche 917K. I've always loved the mix of beauty, and brutality of this car. While say the Ford GT40 is timeless, the 917 defined the time. I was really interested in this stuff as a kid, not as interested now, especially as I find the cars now pretty ugly. I have a number of books on the 917's and the gulf racing efforts, that go into the most minute details, and there were details a plenty. While there are many variants of the 917, many with appeal, and amazing success, the kurz, or short configuration, appealed to me the most. Not the intended look, but finding the long slippery shape of the intended 917 unstable at times John Wyer cut off the back end and gerryrigged what would become the short K version, which would dominate.

Remember when we all thought Ashlyn would be a guest on the recap show since she was in LA a lot when they were filming? All this drama tells us why she wasn’t 💀 seems like Ali got the fans and the teammates in the divorce just look at all the comments on Ali’s post.

Yep. I do remember. I just knew Ashlyn would be a guest on the show. A total no brainer and uh no. The timing now all makes sense. I've never followed either one of them on sm but as of last week going into her final reg season game I started following Ali to see her stories. I keep checking back on her Lemonade post today and on the USWNT b-day post for the ex's birthday and my goodness the comments are brutal. Funny but brutal. Ali definitely got full custody of the USWNT and Gotham players. How does Ashlyn survive on the payroll of Gotham going forward after this season or was that made-up gerryrigged stupid ass job title she got only for this year? What a mess. It still makes me sad for the kids. Ali will land her feet. But Ash has showed her ass and she has kids.

As someone who was road tripping across the country for several months, Kitty has spent a lot of time cultivating different road trip playlists. Most of them are kept on her phone that she has an AUX cord gerryrigged for, though she likes Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill enough to keep the cassette in the player. Kitty listens to anything and everything, and every playlist she’s ever made for herself or another person captures the elements of chaos in her personality.

The typical kind of mixtape that you make for your friend is, for the most part, equal parts songs that you like and songs that remind you of them. Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense, and that’s okay; there’s always some element of cohesion, if it’s only the fact that it was compiled by you. Can I ask about "truth serum or dare" from you WIP list? 👀

it was originally my February YOTP entry which I am very late on lol

Basically: every year, Bruce makes everyone go through something akin to exposure therapy with truth serum. Tim, Dick, Jason, Steph, and Damian have instead turned it into a modified game of truth or dare where you challenge someone to a dare and if they decline, you get to ask them a question, prompting a forced response via truth serum.

Tim usually wins the game with his lying to Batman skills, but Steph is trying to pull of a surprise victory that year by exploiting Tim's crush on Dick.

Long excerpt is below the cut:

Steph glares down at the aerosol canister like it personally broke her dad out of Blackgate, once upon a time.

"I just don't get why we have to do this every six months," she says, tossing the canister from one hand to the other.  

Tim shrugs. "Could be worse. Could be every two months. Like the Gotham sewer escape drill."

"Ugh, don't remind me," She grumbles.

"At least it isn't shots anymore. That's one good thing."

There's a knock at the door frame.

"Hey, are you two ready?" Dick asks, poking his head in. He looks a bit… dressed down.

Steph almost laughs at that. While comfortable clothes are probably a good idea for tonight, he's the only vigilante she knows who consistently wears his own merch. Though she’d be lying if she said that he didn’t make the too-tight t-shirt and Nightwing sweatpants look good…

"One sec," Tim says. He holds up the aerosol and promptly sprays himself in the face with it.

“Alright. I think it’s working, but…” He raises an eyebrow at Dick. "You get one free shot. Ask me something."

"Why can't I ask you something?" Steph asks, trying not to sound whiny.

Tim makes a face. "Because you know too much," he says. Which is honest, if uninformative. "Also, that was a question."

She sticks her tongue out at him.

Dick, on the other hand, looks like he's really thinking about it. After a moment, he grins. Wide enough that it can’t mean anything but trouble.

"Who's your favorite vigilante in Gotham?"

"You are," Tim says, apparently before he can think better of it. 

Steph gasps in faux-offense. "Rude."

"Hey, he calls it like he sees it." Dick waggles his eyebrows in a way that's exaggerated enough to make Steph laugh.

"Jerk," Tim mutters. Though he smiles as he says it, so he can't be too mad.

He stands up from his seat, putting the aerosol canister back on the counter.

"I think there's an extra one back there if you haven't gotten yours yet," he says.

"Nope, not yet. Thanks for not asking."

It's the tradition, of course, to only ask questions within the game itself or by specific request. Anything other than that counts as cheating, and generally results in automatic disqualification and the offender being made to pick up extra chores from Alfred.

Usually the worst ones. Like scraping bat guano off of various things in the Cave.

“Well, don’t take too long,” Tim says. 

Dick doesn't make any particular effort to move out of the way as Tim walks past him, but he does glance down, his eyes tracking him as he leaves.

Is he… staring at Tim's ass?

When he looks back at Steph, he startles like he'd forgotten she was there. Then his expression turns a little guilty. It's confirmation enough that yes, he absolutely was.

Steph feels herself smirking. Because this? This gives her an idea.

This is how she’s going to finally be the one to finally beat Tim at his own game. And there's nothing he's going to be able to do about it. 

Apparently her thought process is showing, since Dick raises an eyebrow at her.

"Okay…" he says, "that's a mildly terrifying expression. Do I even want to know what you're thinking?"

"Nope!"

He shakes his head. Then he goes for one of the leftover aerosol containers.

"Well, better get ready. This game isn’t going to lose itself…"

“I was wrong.” Kon whispers. “I asked Superman. Neither of us heard anything.”

“Then why-?” Cassie breaks off.

“I thought… I don’t know. I thought I heard it.”

Cassie watches as he blinks back a tear.

“It’s not your fault, Kon. We all wanted you to hear him.” She says, dropping heavily onto the couch next to him.

“Yeah.” Bart says. “Sorry.”

“Me too.” Kon says, joining them. “Me too.”

ooh gregor vs rebecca tracking ok im sorry, but i think macallan's crew should head back to leviathan and maybe have anton radio seinshen to figure out what he's doing since gregor know whats going on. ooh tulley is going back to nyc. and macallan's crew is (ill advisedly) going back to Nyc too. hendersen: you in bed with seinshen. ok seinshen bi confirmed? 8D LOL, one of seinshen's aliases is "kristoff laputka" as in the creator's name? xD LOL there's another member that uses alias nobi nakisomething, whose the other co-creator xD seinshen has authentic letters from charlie dickens... which means that dickens is one of the immortals, possibly allied with the rebels. damn toshi is totally different than how tanaka perceives him. also his english doesnt have an awkward japanese accent. Boring life update:

I'm now WFH again (yay work drama) and it's nice but weird. I have moved desks around and I now have two set up in a gerryrigged L shaped desk so I'm no longer cramped up. It's a very nice change from working in a literal closet for two years.

I got two of the absolute tiniest cherry tomatoes out of my garden, bringing my total harvest so far up to four. I have also started bringing in some sage leaves to dry and sprinkle around the house.

I finally found the pedal and power cord to my sewing machine. The reason I was having trouble finding it is because it wasn't in a box. I had unpacked it at some point and absent-mindedly put it on top of Gobs crate. So I can start sewing faster. Which is nice because I desperately want to also make a sundress in addition to the Bridgerton gown for this summer so I can be comfy and cute.
