Alright hello all my name's Levi and I've recently been laid off from my job 😍 they gave me two days of warning and a severance package with one week's pay lol which as you can imagine doesn't go very far. I have a couple part time jobs, both of which I'm trying to get my hours upped on, but this was my primary source of income. I've filed for unemployment and am looking for temporary positions, but y'all know how that goes.

I'm beginning a full time job + uni in August, so fortunately things should settle out soon!! In the meantime though, I could use help with bills/meds/paying down a rough tax bill that I got hit with. Uhh I don't have much to offer except that I have 7 years of experience in maths tutoring (at high school + university levels), 8 years of English/writing tutoring, 2 years of formal academic editing experience...so like, if you need some online tutoring or essay help, I'm your guy. I'm also good at writing resumes, cover letters, college applications, difficult emails...I have a lot of creative writing experience as well if fic/writing commissions are still in vogue

Leviathan Chronicles Audio Drama - Reactions, part 1

So these are some of the reactions i had when listening to it for the first time last year:

I’m still listening to Leviathan Chronicles and it turns out it’s one of the earliest internet audio dramas from 2008. It’s not perfect since some of the concepts are a lil outdated but the blockbuster-style sound design & voice acting is amazing for its time. (This was still the era of flip phones, myspace, & geocities! Youtube was only 1years old.)

The creator is so precious bc you can tell it was created in 2008. There’s no patreon promos yet lol & in one of the outros he said “I got my first iPhone!” “Thanks for talking about us on AIM!” 🥺 He also jokingly blames President Bush for making one of the episodes late xDDD now that definitely dates this show lol.

Nowhere near as annoyingly straight as We're Alive. It does the female characters better than We're Alive. but omg the straightness is pungent. but yeah, if you like 2008 callouts and like crazy action (like think Black Widow "you should have died how are you still alive" action), and can withstand annoying straightness every 5 episodes, its an audio drama that stands the test of time so far.

Actual plot spoilers ahead!

one selling point tho is... its very very DELICIOUSLY violent 8D like on par with or more than darkest night & blood crow stories. altho the characters all have plot armor so no one important really dies :// some of the humans should be lying in hospital beds for 6months. or with major disabilities this is one of those audio dramas that rely on a narrator + voice cast, so there's clear descriptions of whats going on. but for a tasty preview of what happens so far (i havent finished s1 yet... its a HEFTY BOI. thats another downside.): there is a blimp fight, at least 4 submarine crashes & fights, there's been 2 mecha bot fights so far, there is a hospital shoot out, a boat shoot out, lab explosions, monster fights, human torture & testing, the most RIDICULOUS multi-vehicle chase scene in any media i've encountered, and the equivalent to a marvel movie finale battle Ooh it is so fun & stressful & adrenaline-pumping. Altho the characters tend to have an annoying amount of plot armor, so you lowkey know the important ones will survive no matter what shit is going down

Some more leviathan chronicles reactions: Holy moly a shout out to the 2008 Beijing olympics in the story “I think we’re the first podiobook to include a kungfu fight!” Story is written by a white guy & there is no “kungfu” fight. There is a LOT of gun fights tho! And it’s deliciously violent 8D “Hey come to our comic con booth & get free CDs!” “After I finish this podiobook I can be a real writer!”

holy moly am I listening to a marvel movie plot? This is probably the most extravagant motorcycle chase scene that is only matched by that one gang chase scene in Under the Electric Stars. This motorcycle chase scene in the middle of New York City would absolutely crash the characters xD it’s impossible unless you have Marvel movie plot armor I am frustratingly annoyed at how straight this show is tho. It’s nowhere as bad as We’re Alive at least. If this was written today, I’m sure several characters would’ve been genderflipped or queer.

omg there are sooo many twists & backstabbing going on. I think some people may hate it, but I actually find it fun! Oberlin & Whitt: having a flirting 3way fight Mai Lee: what’s going on here O&W: uh guy talk Mai Lee: I’m glad I don’t have a penis Me: DAMMIT WHITT IS SO OBSESSED W ALL THE GUYS THAT HE SHOULD BE GAY. Oberlin & Tulley would totally be an estranged gay couple if it was written today. Mai Lee & Lorelei have super lesbian or at least bi energy too. Same with Evangeline. Harlequin shouldve been a girl. I’m so pissed at Oberlin/Mai Lee … NOOO NATHANIEL!!! First main character death I guess I wish there was an queer audio drama today with as much action & mix of international settings/characters as Leviathan Chronicles (edited)

OMG THIS SEASON FINALE IS SO EPIC I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS. PLOT ARMOR SUDDENLY NO LONGER EXISTS. woohoo. This is like stranger things cuz finally everyone is united and sharing information. Note, I'm still team Evangeline. I have not listened a season finale this stressful since Blood Crow Stories or Primordial Deep or Penumbra. Altho it’s worse cuz it’s like 3hrs of adrenaline

It’s so crazy to think about how many ‘what if’ scenarios there are for the rosewood chronicles and how much they would change the series like

What if Ellie had joined Leviathan?

What if Saskia had managed to kidnapped Lottie at the summer ball?

What if Claude never tried to kill Hirana? Or Hirana had survived childbirth?

What if Jamie’s parentage was never kept a secret?

What if Claude had revealed that he was Jamie’s father when they were on the roof in Tokyo?

What if Jamie had joined Leviathan when he was confronted by the Goat Man?

What if Saskia never defected from Leviathan and redeemed herself? Or what if Jamie stayed with Claude and Leviathan forever?

What if Ellie and Lottie had disregarded Sayuri’s desires and told Jamie about Haru’s identity?

What if Ellie successfully killed her parents at the Golden Flower Festival while under the Hamelin Formula?

Also never understood people who only smoke when drinking bc my family's addiction genes are so strong that every single person in my immediate family is addicted to at least one substance. How are y'all smoking and not developing an addiction so strong you wake up in the middle of the night to smoke 😭 I can't keep food down without enough caffeine to give the average person cardio issues meanwhile y'all somehow are avoiding nicotine addiction

Leviathan Chronicles, reaction finale

Final post from my reactions to Leviathan chronicles last year!

Spoilery feelings summary:

Things I like: -i am SOOOO glad there was no stupid love triangle between macallan/tulley/anton. -soooo much tension & epic blockbuster action. -i was mentally gripping my chair 90% of the time. ofc that meant that after i finished the series, i was kinda drained/exhausted and this is the first time i've ever felt winded by a piece of media. -im glad as the show moved on, there was less narration and more sound design action -all the 2008/2009 shoutouts

problems: -too many straight people. my gaydar is obsessed with trying to figure out if anyone might be even a lil bit queer. i settle on seinshen & nathaniel possibly being gay, harlequin/astrid/lorelei possibly being bi/pan & lorelei also being genderqueer. oberlin & tulley i believe must've experimented together at some point so they're possibly bi too. theres no proof for any of this, except lorelei's appearance, and harlequin saying he was "with reverends". -horrible bad asian accents by both asian & white people. temujin & moonface was better. -some plotholes and plot armor/should not have survived and super fast travel coincidences. -the intro music is cool cuz i like rock music, but didnt match the theme. -there are many times where people are trying accomplish the SAME DAMN THING except their opinions of each other are totally opposite.

Things i REALLY wanna know: -what happened to mai lee? what happened to toshi? how is oberlin actually doing? -what was all that spanish in the post credit scene of the epilogue?

Xhura's Pacts & Locations on His Body

"LEVIATHAN itches on his right shoulder blade. ASMODEUS tickles under his ribs. SATAN constantly makes him think he has a rock in his shoe. LUCIFER always holds onto him by the hips; his favorite place to steal a touch. And BARBATOS resides on his left shoulder; stalwart and sure." —— Xhura's Pacts

First Pact ➣ Leviathan ➣ Right Shoulder Blade

An impulsive decision on both of their parts — made when Xhura, Ayla, & the Brothers were staying over at the Demon Lord's Castle for the weekend to immerse everyone in the exchange students' different cultures.

As Henry 1.0 chased Mammon, Ayla, & Satan in the underground labyrinth beneath the castle, Xhura & Levi came up with the brilliant(?) idea to just try and talk to the snake — like in the beloved Harrison Porter novels. But since Xhura didn't naturally speak snake, Levi offered to form a pact with him to lend Xhura the power to create an animal-tongue language spell on the fly.

Second Pact ➣ Asmodeus ➣ Sternum

Even though the exchange program was barely a few months in, Xhura was already so attached to the Devildom, to RAD, & especially to the brothers. Asmodeus more than any other — since Asmo had been the one to show Xhura around & help him acclimate.

Xhura's anxiety caught up with him one afternoon & led to him lamenting about what would happen when the program ended. Asmo wasted no time in resting a hand on Xhura's sternum & forging their pact to let him know that 'no matter what happens, I'll always be right by your side.'

Third Pact ➣ Satan ➣ Bottom of Left Foot

Ayla was the one trying to forge pacts with each of the brothers in order to help free Belphie. Xhura was a little more skeptical; harboring doubts about what someone could have possibly done in order to end up locked away like that. But when the time came for Ayla to try and urge Satan into a pact... he agreed to make one — but only with Xhura.

While at first his condition was set just to spite Ayla, Satan & Xhura ended up forming a real bond of understanding with one another — both feeling like the rejects of their family, & both just wanting someone who could look past his mistakes to see the person beneath.

While play-fighting on Xhura's bed in a debate as to where the pact would go, Xhura tried to kick Satan to the floor. Satan caught his foot mid-impact... and the rest is a constantly-itchy history.

Fourth Pact ➣ Lucifer ➣ Right Hip

Lucifer's promise to the constantly-dying-on-repeat Xhura was simple: survive one day longer than the week Barbatos announced that Xhura had left to live, & he would make a pact with him. Well, they jumped the gun a little bit on that one.

After finding out what it would take for Xhura to be saved — a pact with Barbatos that would let Xhura borrow enough of his power to keep him anchored to the reality where he wasn't killed by Belphegor — Lucifer decided not to waste another moment. Their pact was sealed with a claiming bite & passionate kisses on Xhura's hip.

Fifth Pact ➣ Barbatos ➣ Back of Left Shoulder

It was a pact made out of necessity more than anything else. In order to keep Xhura's body from dying with his mind alive & trapped in his corpse, Xhura would need access to Barbatos' unique ability to pick & choose realities. So under the conditions that their pact would only be used to save his life, Barbatos took the majority of Xhura's soul as payment for use of his power.

Of course, neither Barbatos nor Xhura — & certainly not the likes of Diavolo or anyone else — realized just how much of Barbatos' power Xhura would have access to. Which would eventually lead to Xhura's powerful desire to stay & belong in the Devildom making the part of his bloodline that belonged to Lilith 'fall' as the brothers did; turning him into a fully-fledged demon.

( Sixth Pact ➣ Lucifer ➣ Left Hip )

Xhura's only pact as a demon — reciprocated back onto Lucifer's own hip in a mirror image of the one they shared when he was still human.

It is as much a part of their bond & devotion to each other as their marriage vows were, & often serves as a comfort for Xhura & Lucifer both when words are not enough, or when they are far apart.
