Note
UHHH honestly i'm not too sure of your fandoms besides jojo fnf and sonic so maybe uhhh jotaro and kakyoin?? (what are your fandoms btw!!)
Thanks so much for the ask!!! Let's start with the chart!
I like these two. They're great together (though, I must admit, I slightly, very slightly, prefer Kakyoin and Polnareff as a platonic duo)
Tumblr media
Now for fandoms! Oh boy am I a disaster with fandoms! :')
As expected, my main ones are Sonic, JoJo and the likes. The rest are stuff like Kid Icarus, Evillious Chronicles, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, A Hat in Time, Pokèmon, Vocaloid, Mad Rat Dead, NSR, Fossil Fighters, anything I reblog really!
You see, the problem is I don't really... leave fandoms? So I have a bunch of old ones I think about or randomly make AUs for! Fun times!

Han Juwon and Lee Dongsik: In search of the lost. Part 1 (of 2)
Tumblr media
(Spoilers, a lot)
In this article, I will dwell in more detail on the images of the two main characters, their psychology and their amazing interaction. The incredible "chemistry" of this tandem is felt already from the first series. And after watching the entire drama, viewers wrote that this bromance is brighter than many love stories. First of all, thanks to the powerful duo of two outstanding actors. But the preconditions for a vivid relationship are laid down in the script itself. And the more I think about Beyond Evil, the more I become convinced that Dongsik and Juwon are truly “made for each other”. But first, let's take a look at them separately.
Lee  Dongsik   – a story about lost paradise.
Tumblr media
We learn the story of Lee  Dongsik   already in the first episodes, and it is striking in its tragedy. The life of a bright, daring young man collapsed at twenty. And all the next twenty years are a chronicle of loss and suffering. As if every time he tried to raise his head, the next blow was overtaking him.
What kind of person was Lee  Dongsik   before the disaster? We were shown not much, but enough to compose a portrait. I think you could say he was a debonair rebel. He did not try to fit into someone's framework, to please, which caused condemnation of society. But he defended the weak, not hesitating to use his fists. Like his sister, he loved music, although he chose a different genre for himself. Despite the constant hurtful comparisons, he had a very good, warm relationship with his sister - also an important touch to the portrait. In general, we see a person who is cheerful, daring, but kind. And even twenty years later, something of this young man still remains. Although the process of destruction is already underway, so others even notice it. And among colleagues,  Dongsik   gained a reputation as a "psycho".
However,  Dongsik   partly deliberately demonstrates his abnormality. His half-mad smile is his banner, his silent protest against the blatant injustice of life.
Tumblr media
The story of the Dongsik’s family begins in the church, and this is no coincidence. This whole scene creates an atmosphere of harmonious, prosperous life in every sense. And already here the word justice sounds - both in the song played by Yuyeon, and in the conversation between the mother and her friend. In such a family, I suppose, a sense of justice was natural for Dongsik. But then a catastrophe happened, a wild, monstrous incident, and his harmonious world collapsed in one day.
Tumblr media
Yuyeon's fingers were found in the courtyard of her house, between the statues of two angels.  Juwon   once noticed that Dongsik had not removed the statues in the garden.  Juwon   was surprised - why leave such a painful memory? As a trophy - if Dongsick is a killer? Or is it something else?  Juwon   is actually very subtle about everything that matters to Donsik, although his conclusions are not always correct.
Tumblr media
Dongsik could leave the past behind, he has enough fortitude for that. But he remains in the place where the most painful memories are concentrated. One gets the impression that Donsik spends most of his time in the basement, as if he does not live in this house, but protects it, is on duty at the post, like a guard at the temple. In part - he is not ready to give up hope. Yes, deep down he knows Yuyoung is dead. But part of him wants to believe that she will return. He's also not ready to agree, to accept that the world works like this. That a crime that has destroyed more than one life will remain unpunished - everyone seems to have come to terms with it long ago. Everyone except Dongsik.
Dongsik once believed in the law, as we learn from his conversation with Nam Sanbe at his father's funeral. This belief that, having become a policeman, he would be able to change something, for some time supported him. But then he discovered that often the law, like these stone angels, is a silent witness, indifferent and helpless. This is how the thought is born that the "angels" will not help. "To catch a monster, you have to become a monster." But this thought devastates Dongsik from the inside, as it contradicts his whole essence.
Tumblr media
And yet, after twenty years of lonely struggle, Donsik was already deadly tired. We see this tiredness in the little things. For example, the way he indifferently stares at the fallen poster announcing   Yuyeon's missing. This fight is almost a formality. Despair slowly seizes his soul. And perhaps it would have captured him completely, if not for the appearance of  Juwon.
Tumblr media
Han Juwon - look from the staircase.
Tumblr media
If Dongsik's childhood was a lost paradise, then Juwon's childhood was a nightmare, probably from the beginning. On the one hand, there was a cold, cruel narcissistic father. On the other hand, there was a depressed mother, who is also demonstrative in her despair. She got drunk, she cut veins. She was in pain and wanted to be noticed. But her actions caused only contemptuous annoyance and growing irritation in her husband. Her pain was felt by her son - children always feel - but for a small child it was too heavy a burden.
Tumblr media
When we see little Juwon, it is immediately noticeable that he is different from other children. Looking at the frightening scene between father and mother, he does not interfere and does not cry. He stands as if paralyzed, clutching a plush hare as the only support in this world. And the scene is actually scary. In fact, in this scene, his father kills his mother. "The problem is not the attempts, but the fact that they are unsuccessful." "You're a burden to him." The father is doing everything possible so that the mother's next attempt ends fatally.
Why didn't Juwon come over and take her hand? Because of resentment that she was ready to give him up? I think this is not the only point. In this one scene, a lot is intertwined. The whole scene below was something too monstrous to be involved in. This is what will later become entrenched in Juwon's character, like a disgust for any dirt. An obsessive desire to stay pure in his world of abstract ideals.
And he was also, in a sense, afraid of his mother.
Tumblr media
It is interesting how the similarity of scenes in Beyond Evil sometimes reveals the contrast of fate. Two mothers' palms, but what a different relationship. In the scene of Dongsik's arrest, his mother reaches out to him with a desire to save her child. In the scene, when strangers also take away Juwon's mother, she reaches out her hand, begging her son for salvation. That is, the roles of the son and mother in this scene are reversed. And this is also one of the reasons why Juwon did not came up - this touch weighed too much. An overwhelming responsibility for an eight-year-old to be a savior for his parent. The words that Juwon will one day say to Dongsik: "I know that some people are a burden just because they exist" - not just a phrase repeated after his father. Juwon knows what it is like when an emotional connection with another person weighs on a heavy burden.
But this missed touch became Juwon's personal nightmare. He loved his mother and was grieving at the loss. Although he couldn't handle this loss properly. After all, the father spoke of the mother's suicide with contempt, depriving the child of the opportunity to realize and mourn his grief. Juwon seemed to remain on this staircase for the next twenty years. This is how we see him at the beginning of the drama. Looking at people from high, avoiding any contact. With an emphasis on cleanliness and order.
Tumblr media
But no matter what armor Juwon surrounded himself with, a living soul was preserved in him. This shows up in subtle nuances. The way his gaze changes when he sees suffering. How he notices someone else's discomfort and understands other people's feelings. He says that keeping Kang Minjung in handcuffs is too harsh. He himself guesses to go for raincoats for Dongsik and the lost boy. There are a lot of small moments that show Juwon as an empathetic person.
Tumblr media
In Juwon, as is often the case with such psychological trauma, feelings are separated from consciousness. So, he says that he knows nothing about the love of mother and child. But at the same time, his face changes every time it comes to mothers. He speaks of his mother as if she had abandoned him. It’s like he’s not even fully aware of what happened to her. Dongsik had a fantasy of meeting his sister in the mountains, although in his heart he knew that his sister was dead. Perhaps Juwon's fantasy was that his mother just left him and the rest didn't matter. He realizes the death of his mother as a fact. But all the feelings behind this are securely walled up in the deep basement of his inner world.
This is the state we find them at the beginning of the drama. One is almost at the bottom of life. The other is somewhere near the top. But both are equally lonely and ruined, gradually losing themselves. A traumatic event in the lives of both did not just hurt, but cut through the very essence, the opportunity to be yourself.
Dongsik is a natural «lover of life», almost disappointed with life. His inner world - like his home - is spacious, warm, it should be filled with living voices. But now it is empty and haunted.
Juwon is a rescuer by nature. Being a protector is so natural for Juwon that he does it involuntarily, as if obeying instinct. This role became a disaster for him, but Juwon could not give it up completely. He turned his calling into a formality, as Dongsik turned into a formality his life.
Deep down, both heroes feel like monsters. Both cope with it as best they can, but gradually come to a deadlock. Because it is impossible to be yourself for yourself alone. We need an addressee, a witness, a close one.
Tumblr media
to be continued ...

Yogscast Starter Pack/Master Post
Hello!! I’ve had quite a few people express interest in exploring the Yogscast’s content recently! The yogs fandom’s source of content is a little hard to pin down and it’s kind of a lot of information, so I wanted to put together a more thorough compilation of summaries and places to start for anyone who’s not sure or just curious! Below the cut is my Yogscast Start Kit Master PostTM.
I hope this helps, and don’t hesitate at all if you have any questions :)
Who are the Yogscast?
The Yogscast is a large group of youtubers who have a history of creating largely Minecraft-based content; they create stories, develop characters, and create lore-filled worlds through the many facets of minecraft that’s essentially been modded to hell.
This content isn’t just in one place or with one group of people, but rather a large collection of pairs, individuals, and groups of yogscast (and non-yogscast) members who’ve created a large number of respective series, often featuring a specific modpack, specific characters, a specific storyline, etc.
For example, Simon and Lewis (Honeydew and Xephos are their characters, respectively) are the main two individuals that started the Yogscast youtube channel,  Duncan later joins them, they become the main three yogscast icons, sips and sjin become the secondary two, and it goes on and on as the fanbase and number of creators grew. This means that, collectively, there are a…. STUPID large amount of different minecraft series that can technically be filed under “yogscast minecraft lore/ universe”.
Most of their series are unscripted, but they follow general arcs or set goals (e.g. going to space, building a jaffa cake factory, becoming proficient at a specific mod, etc). This allows hilarity to ensue when everything inevitably doesn’t go anyone’s way lmao
Oh cool, w. where am I supposed to even start, then
Compilations are always a good go-to if you’re interested in getting a feel for personalities, humor, and content style (I recommend looking up Yogscast Ultimate Edition videos!). If you’re just looking for a place to dive in, youve got a couple of options! I’ve sorted everything below by creator, as most yogs creators tend to do series within a specific set or group of people.
MAIN CREATORS & THEIR SERIES:
Lewis (Xephos) and Simon (Honeydew): These two are the “main two” figure heads of the yogscast! They started the main Yogscast channel about a decade ago and started their minecraft beginnings with the infamous series “Shadow of Israphel.” Xephos, the Spaceman and the one with the braincell, and Honeydew, the dwarven brawn and charisma of the two, also often team up with Duncan, as the three of them are featured in some of the Yogs’ most well-known minecraft series.
Shadow of Israphel –  The OG series! Started all the way back when Minecraft was in beta, as soon as multiplayer became available. No mods, eventually scripted when NPCs are introduced. Hilarious interactions between NPCS and our heroes, and the nostalgic series that most every Yogs fan holds close to their heart!
The Jaffa Factory –  Modpack: “Tekkit.” This was the first big modded minecraft series they did, and the beginning of the trend of hosting huge servers that almost every yog member hosted a different series on. Not scripted. Duncan (Lalna or Lividcoffee) joins them for the first time, and from this point on, they become a trio! unscripted and a mess. Sips and Sjin also eventually join!
Moonquest –  Modpack: “MoonQuest.” Lewis, Simon, and Duncan attempt reaching the moon! It’s… in more than one way, a tad bit disastrous. This is the era when the Yogs started making songs and animations based off their minecraft series! (Watch this!) unscripted and disastrous.
Yoglabs – Simon and Lewis. This one was a weekly mod review that developed into some questionable behavior via Lewis (Xephos). Really enjoyable, not chronological (each episode is independent, more or less- you can watch out of order)! It spans most of the entirety of their time on youtube. Various mods, just Simon and Lewis. (Watch this!) Most episodes of this series end up with Simon blowing up Yoglabs tbh
Duncan (Lividcoffee, or Lalna) and Kim (Nanosounds): Lalna, or lividcoffee, is the well-known mad scientist of the server! His personality tends to change depending on the context and series, but when he’s with kim, he’s a friendly goof! Kim/Nano, his apprentice, starts as a true-to-definition noob at minecraft and eventually becomes a pro with magics and whatever Lalna happens to teach her! These two have their own narrative and call their storyline series “Flux Buddies,” which involves them trying to cure Kim’s infection of a magic substance called “Flux.” Good Duo. Pure. Eventually, drama with clones ensue!
The Apprentice –  Their first series, in the “Tekkit” Era. It’s worth noting that Duncan has a solo series in the “Tekkit” Era called Duncan’s Laboratory as a precursor to The Apprentice as well. The apprentice is worth checking out just to see what happens to Kim, how she becomes fluxed, and what the aftermath is, but that’s p much it imo. Primarily unscripted, save for when Nano becomes fluxed!
Flux Buddies –  Flux Buddies is the biggest/longest-running series, with several “seasons”. It begins after the events of The Apprentice, with…
Flux Buddies –  Panda Labs! Kim explores witchcraft, they explore several different facets of science and magic, and Duncan begins the search on how to unflux kim! It’s kind of his fault, so he feels pretty bad about it,,
Flux Buddies 2,3, and 4 –  A continuation, with more mods and more hijinks! Becomes more scripted as villain characters Lalnable Hector and Specimen 5 (clones of Lalna and Nano) are introduced!
Flux Baddies –  A spinoff, featuring Lalnable and Specimen 5 as the main duo! Half scripted; an evil perspective on the Flux Buddies plot! This series is hilarious because half the time Duncan and Kim are trying to get stuff done, and half the time they’re trying (struggling) to stay in character as the mega bad-guys of the series.
Sips and Sjin: Sips and Sjin are the famous, much loved duo of the yogscast! These two are the, er. Magnificent, definitely not gay at all nope,, duo in charge of ‘Sips Co.,’ the Dirt Company! CEO Sips and his lackey Sjin (<also architect and farmer) are an absolute disaster. But like,, in the best way possible. They spend the majority of their time in each series bantering instead of getting anything done, but everyone accepts that its just part of the charm.
Sipsco. (Sips and Sjin Tekkit) –  Modpack: “Tekkit.” This occurs at the same time as the Jaffa Factory! Sips and Sjin build up their dirt empire whilest also making sure to spy on and keep an eye on those weird Jaffa Factory goons and their girl scout cookies. Unscripted and hilarious! These two eventually go over and join the Jaffa Factory boys (Honeydew, Xeph, and Lalna!)
(Most of Sips and Sjin’s series follow the same formula: Get started, joke around, never really finish the series. Even still, they’re iconic to watch and enjoyable to listen to C: This goes for):
Volts –  IMPORTANT NOTE: if you decide not to watch any of sips and sjin, just watch this. somehow this is completely unscripted, but THE BEST
Sipsco Space Program –  Occurs at the same time as “Moonquest”. These dopes try to get to Mars. Clone hijinks eventually ensue, briefly. Unscripted
Cheat Police –  A pun on the series “Magic Police” (In which Sjin and Duncan attempt to jail all of the most powerful mages on the server). They try to call out all of the “cheaters” on the server. The dopes fool around in creative mode while trying to call out everyone else who uses creative mode.
Zoey and Rythian: These two only have one series, but it’s one of the yogscast’s most known! Rythian, the serious, vengeful, loner-type endermage and hater of science, recruits Zoey as his apprentice (goofy, friendly, passive, interested in both science and magic)! These two are complete opposites but a much-loved duo!
The Blackrock Chronicle –  Three short seasons long, this series follows Rythian as he recruits Zoey (and their sharpshooting, mute dinosaur, Teep,) to get payback and revenge on Sjin and Duncan for nuking and destroying the “old world” (The first tekkit server, unrecorded). He’s also determined to prove to them the superiority of his magic and the flaws of science; conflict arises when Zoey, his mage apprentice, also expresses interest in becoming a scientist. This series’ events are scripted, and includes cameos of many other loveable yogs folks (including Nilesy, Duncan, Ravs, and Zylus n Daltos).
^This one is a must-watch for sure!! A very heart felt and endearing series!
Strife and Parvis: These two, another well known duo by the fandom, are a fun pair for sure! (They’re my personal favorite, so I’m a tad bit biased,,) William Strife is a no-nonsense, cutthroat business man and CEO of his solutions company, Strife Solutions. Not particularly fond of magic. Alex Parvis, absolutely-all-of-the-nonsense guitarist, chaotic newby who Strife hires? Adopts? Is burdened with? Strife is forced to teach Parv the ways of minecraftia and whatnot, much to Strife’s chagrin. Parv becomes a very chaotic bloodmage.
Solutions in Chaos –  Their first series, taking place in the Chaosville server. Will, arriving for the first time ever in minecraftia, begins to explore the region before Parvis shows up, exclaiming that lewis sent him to be taught minecraft by strife. Strife now must babysit this child and teach him minecraft. Hilarity and much exasperation ensues.
Blood and Chaos –  Following Parv’s series with Martyn (Inthelittlewood) ‘Heroes of Mine’ (in which they explore Ars Magica), Parv finds Blood Magic Items and insists that Strife helps him become the most powerful blood mage on the server! Strife does not approve At All n doesn’t really wanna be involved in this whatsoever, but he thinks parv will either destroy himself or destroy the server If someone doesn’t keep an eye on him. So, Mr. Strife must continue to babysit this now dangerous knife-wielding child.
Hat Films: Smith (Alsmiffy), Trott (Trottimus), and Ross (djh3max): These three are a TRIP and have a large fan base of their own. They’re an inseparable gang of swindlers and chaos bringers, and they’re pretty much all sharing the same single braincell. They make everyone else’s business their own business, as their motto is “what’s yours is ours,” and prove themselves to be the havoc-wreaker of whatever server they happen to be on.
Hat Corp –  This is their first main minecraft series that features them interacting (aka messing) with other people on the server. From “"fairly”” selling land to all of the other groups of people on the server, to starting a dangeorus rivalry with the Flux Buddies, they’re. 100% disaster energy.
Hannah (Lomadia) and Nilesy: Very wholesome good duo! They tend to explore the magic mods, most of the time with Lomadia (powerful witch, owl lady!) teaching Nilesy what’s what. Nilesy is a just a simple cat lad. Likes to sell portable pools, he’s a potion master, he’s a man of the cats.
Evicted –  After being evicted from their Tekkit base ‘owl island’ as pirates took over their home, Nilesy and Hannah leave to set up base elsewhere and focus on Witchcraft!
The following series’, Owl Island and Cat Island, are very similar in caliber! Just our wholesome magic animal loving duo doing witch stuff c:
Kirindave, Lyinginbedmon, and Ridgedog: The last extremely notable lore-heavy minecraft characters making appearances on yogscast minecraft servers are regarded as the “demigods” of the yogs minecraft universe. Though they don’t necessarily do a lot of content together, I grouped them together for relevancy sakes. Kirin and Lying, both mod developers and masters at their respective magical crafts, have a bit of a rivalry going on, where as Ridgedog is the kind of “trickster” demigod, doing what he pleases and happily poking fun or messing around with others as he does so. They’re all a lot of fun to listen to and their series are all super interesting, so I’ve listed a few below!
Ridgedog: Yogscast Complete –  Ridge sets up his base and plays by his own rules to become extremely proficient at a majority of mods in the server. He’s hilarious, plays largely by his own rules, and often does content with BeBopVox, another gaming and songwriting youtuber.
Kirindave: Chaosville and Minecraft the Hard Way –  Chaosville sees the development of his rivalry with Lying as Kirin masters blood magic and other magics on the server, and Minecraft the Hard Way is the series following that!
Lyinginbedmon: You can find the opposite perspective of the Chaosville rivalry in Lyings Chaosville S2. As Lying masters witchery, he and Kirin have a dangerous magically fueled ““prank”” war. Lying’s Witch in the Woods follows suit just like Kirin’s Minecraft the Hard Way.

K, N and Z 😘
Thanks for the asks, babe!
K: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
(NSFW below)
*Coughs* Maybe. :3 One of my biggest guilty pleasures to read and write is Grelle topping the heck out of her partner, especially if it’s Sebastian. I also go absolutely wild for small intimacies, such as Character A kissing Character B’s hand or the inside of their wrist. And don’t get me started on soft forehead touches!
N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?
Yes, a couple! There’s a Sebagni fic I’m dying to write (working title: “Kiss Me Through The Phone”) set in a human AU where the two meet online and start a long-distance relationship. Lots of pining and fluff. It might be pretty long and pose some challenges for me as a writer (I want to adhere as closely as possible to the format of the social media they’re using), but I think it’ll be a fun, rewarding fic once I actually start it!
A Sebagrellerin fic (also set in a human AU; working title “The Raven, The Owl, and The Dragon”) where Mey Rin works as an artist at Lau’s Tattoo Parlor. However, the little business is merely a front for Lau’s branch of the Chinese mafia, where Mey Rin works as a competent assassin. One day, a beautiful, mysterious woman (of course it’s Grelle) walks in asking for an elaborate back tattoo. A casual conversation between Grelle, Lau, and Grelle’s boyfriend Sebastian reveals that Grelle and Bassy are the highly-skilled and dangerous “Red and Black,” the infamous duo who work for the Queen’s Watchdog (even in the modern era, the Phantomhives still play an instrumental role in controlling England’s underworld). Disaster bi that she is, Mey is crushing hard on both of them. To her shock, they are just as interested in her. :3 This one will probably focus both on the soft “in-between” moments that happen when they’re not wreaking havoc for their bosses and a few where they team up for missions Still needs a lot of development, but I’m looking forward to it!
A Vincent/Rachel/Diedrich fic (”Loving Vincent,”) chronicling how Diedrich and Vincent fell in love, Vincent’s and Rachel’s courtship, and how the three of them navigate the ins and outs of a healthy (but clandestine) poly relationship within the stifling confines of Victorian social mores.
Z: Is there a story you’ve written that doesn’t seem to get much love?
Hmm...I’m afraid of sounding whiny, but probably my wlw content in general. I’m usually lucky if I get kudos in the double digits on those, even with popular female characters like Grelle. That’s just the nature of the beast, however (fandom be like that sometimes), and I’m a big believer in the philosophy “writing is its own reward.”

Books I Want to Read in 2020
Tumblr media
I have hundreds of books on my TBR list so I had some sifting to do to decide which ones to prioritise. I’ve given a really short summary for each one, but I usually prefer to not know too much about something before I read it, so here they are, in no particular order:
Nefertiti by Michelle Moran – Historical fiction about politics and Ancient Egypt
City of Lies by Sam Hawke – adult (political?) fantasy. The first sentence is ‘I was seven years old when my uncle first poisoned me’ and that’s good enough for me
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff – book #2 of Nevernight. Aka that adult fantasy series about stabby assassins and a revenge quest
The Shattered Gates by Ginn Hale – an (adult, I think) fantasy with a M/M romance recommended to me because I loved Captive Prince
Black Leopard Red Wolf by Marlon James – an adult fantasy series that draws from African mythology. I don’t know much else about it apart from that the writing style might be a bit difficult to get into
The Monster Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson – book #2 of The Masquerade, a (very) dark adult political fantasy with a very Slytherin lesbian PoC main character
Theft of Swords by Micheal J Sullivan – adult sword & sorcery fantasy about the very Griffindor and Slytherin duo Hadrian and Royce. Expecting lots of fun action and banter. I actually started off with the first two Riyria Chronicles books instead so I’m gonna be jumping around in the series a bit
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson – adult political fantasy involving sisters and a complication with an arranged marriage and a magic system based on colour
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant – adult sci-fi/horror about killer mermaids in the Mariana Trench. I actually started reading this then got sidetracked by rereading Harry Potter so this’ll probably be the first I get to
The Voyage of the Basilisk by Marie Brennan – book #3 of The Memoirs of Lady Trent, an adult fantasy series about a woman who goes on adventures to study dragons
Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey – adult fantasy over 1000 pages. The main character is ‘trained equally in the courtly arts and the talents of the bedchamber, but, above all, the ability to observe, remember, and analyze‘
Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory  –  an adult (humorous?) sci-fi that has something to do with a TV family with psychic powers saving themselves from the CIA, the mafia, all while trying not to get discredited
The Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch – book #4 in the Gentleman Bastard Sequence. I really really hope this’ll be out in 2020 but it might not be. I’ve never been more excited for a book and I love these characters so so much. It’s an adult fantasy series about a found family disaster gang of thieves. The main character is simultaneously both a genius and an idiot and the series has fantastic dialogue and plot twists and contains my favourite fictional friendship of all time

Xhura's Pacts & Locations on His Body
"LEVIATHAN itches on his right shoulder blade. ASMODEUS tickles under his ribs. SATAN constantly makes him think he has a rock in his shoe. LUCIFER always holds onto him by the hips; his favorite place to steal a touch. And BARBATOS resides on his left shoulder; stalwart and sure." —— Xhura's Pacts
ft. @houselamentation's MC: Ayla Getsumei
First Pact ➣ Leviathan ➣ Right Shoulder Blade
An impulsive decision on both of their parts — made when Xhura, Ayla, & the Brothers were staying over at the Demon Lord's Castle for the weekend to immerse everyone in the exchange students' different cultures.
As Henry 1.0 chased Mammon, Ayla, & Satan in the underground labyrinth beneath the castle, Xhura & Levi came up with the brilliant(?) idea to just try and talk to the snake — like in the beloved Harrison Porter novels. But since Xhura didn't naturally speak snake, Levi offered to form a pact with him to lend Xhura the power to create an animal-tongue language spell on the fly.
Second Pact ➣ Asmodeus ➣ Sternum
Even though the exchange program was barely a few months in, Xhura was already so attached to the Devildom, to RAD, & especially to the brothers. Asmodeus more than any other — since Asmo had been the one to show Xhura around & help him acclimate.
Xhura's anxiety caught up with him one afternoon & led to him lamenting about what would happen when the program ended. Asmo wasted no time in resting a hand on Xhura's sternum & forging their pact to let him know that 'no matter what happens, I'll always be right by your side.'
Third Pact ➣ Satan ➣ Bottom of Left Foot
Ayla was the one trying to forge pacts with each of the brothers in order to help free Belphie. Xhura was a little more skeptical; harboring doubts about what someone could have possibly done in order to end up locked away like that. But when the time came for Ayla to try and urge Satan into a pact... he agreed to make one — but only with Xhura.
While at first his condition was set just to spite Ayla, Satan & Xhura ended up forming a real bond of understanding with one another — both feeling like the rejects of their family, & both just wanting someone who could look past his mistakes to see the person beneath.
While play-fighting on Xhura's bed in a debate as to where the pact would go, Xhura tried to kick Satan to the floor. Satan caught his foot mid-impact... and the rest is a constantly-itchy history.
Fourth Pact ➣ Lucifer ➣ Right Hip
Lucifer's promise to the constantly-dying-on-repeat Xhura was simple: survive one day longer than the week Barbatos announced that Xhura had left to live, & he would make a pact with him. Well, they jumped the gun a little bit on that one.
After finding out what it would take for Xhura to be saved — a pact with Barbatos that would let Xhura borrow enough of his power to keep him anchored to the reality where he wasn't killed by Belphegor — Lucifer decided not to waste another moment. Their pact was sealed with a claiming bite & passionate kisses on Xhura's hip.
Fifth Pact ➣ Barbatos ➣ Back of Left Shoulder
It was a pact made out of necessity more than anything else. In order to keep Xhura's body from dying with his mind alive & trapped in his corpse, Xhura would need access to Barbatos' unique ability to pick & choose realities. So under the conditions that their pact would only be used to save his life, Barbatos took the majority of Xhura's soul as payment for use of his power.
Of course, neither Barbatos nor Xhura — & certainly not the likes of Diavolo or anyone else — realized just how much of Barbatos' power Xhura would have access to. Which would eventually lead to Xhura's powerful desire to stay & belong in the Devildom making the part of his bloodline that belonged to Lilith 'fall' as the brothers did; turning him into a fully-fledged demon.
( Sixth Pact ➣ Lucifer ➣ Left Hip )
Xhura's only pact as a demon — reciprocated back onto Lucifer's own hip in a mirror image of the one they shared when he was still human.
It is as much a part of their bond & devotion to each other as their marriage vows were, & often serves as a comfort for Xhura & Lucifer both when words are not enough, or when they are far apart.

tddc has a primarily male cast but it actually passes the the Bechdel Test quite often, including:
Ayla's grandmotherly mentor telling her to calm down Ayla's goth roommate telling her to calm down Thirteen trying to take Ayla's soul after she died briefly and then showing up to her party like it never happened and/or was hilarious Ayla's estranged identical twin telling her she belongs in Hell (without the context needed to know how funny that is) Grizelda the Bone Witch possessing Ayla's body in order to solve her own murder Grizelda the Bone Witch telling Ayla to calm down

Weekly Media Roundup
-Danganronpa 2 (Video Game) - Yessss Game Grumps have begun the playthrough.
-3 idiots (Movie) - Thought Emily would like it so did I rewatch with her. The
-Undertale (Video Games)-  Playing the Game Grumps playthrough in the background while I work. Gotta play the new DeltaRune Update.
-Komi Can't Communicate (Anime)-Watched the first few episodes cause the animation seemed dope. It is very cute so I’ll probally watch more, though I don’t think it quite has me hooked yet.
-The Vampire Dies In No Time (Anime) - Really glad I stuck around as each episode get’s more endearing. Love a good no braincell duo to lighten up my week. I may or may not be rewatching the episodes exclusively to take screenshots of John.
-Blue Period (Anime)- I really got to hand it to this anime for really making me want to do art again. After every episode I have the thought “maybe I should try doing that”, which is high praise for the shows motivational potential. Sure to be one of the best of the season.
-Animal Crossing (Video Game) - So since the 2.0 update this game has taken most of my free time from me and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. It has gyroids now. Gyroids! I’m determined to actually finish terraforming my town this time.
-Mob Psycho 100 (Anime)-Doing a rewatch to get ready for the 3rd season, as one of my personal favorite pieces of media I’ve seen it a 100 times but I’m down to see it a 100 times more
-The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (Video Game) - Definitely one of my current obsessions, the little character animations and moving camera angles really bring the lovable and quirky characters of this game to life. I might take a short break as the difficulty of some of the logic puzzles are slightly harder than expected, but overall I’m having a great time with the gameplay and overall story. Ryuu is such a painfully relatable protagonist, Susato is adorably odd at times, and while I originally thought I would hate Sherlock, his self awareness about his own dumbassary is actually really funny.
Listening to: Take Me Home Country Roads by John Denver, Jealousy Jealousy by Olivia Rodrigo, 99.9 by Mob Choir, Walking Disaster by Sum 41, I Want It All by Bonnie McKee, Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin, Mii Channel Theme, The Greatest by Sia, Majora's Mask OST.

♥ it’s time to spread your podcast palette ♥
With a whole summer to spend collecting seashells and collecting new sounds from the likes of ambitious independent artists, we finally get a chance to cuddle up like a stray fly in a cobweb in the early weeks of October.
Grab your ham radio, dawn your best mask, and get infinite before Halloween comes because today PodCake has more than the average horror story to keep you cool and creepy.
Looking for something fresh to please that sudden thirst for audio storytelling? Look no further as PodCake has six more podcasts you’ll certainly love.
1. Station to Station
A sci-fi mystery/horror about a science project with dark secrets, a biochemist with melancholic tendencies, and the mysterious notes of a lost scientist, set on research cruise several hundred miles away from land. Also featuring: corporate espionage, loss, morality, and close encounters of the eldritch kind.
In what seems to be an ongoing trend of aquatic themed mystery shows, alongside the likes of The Bridge and Passage, comes Station to Station that has been lovingly provided by the Procyon Podcast Network who are pulling out all the stops in this surprisingly rich and psychological romp that isn’t afraid to kick start things in an impressive first episode.
Fans of methodically intelligent shows such Ars Paradoxica are bound to get wrapped up in Station to Station’s smart writing and unashamedly scientific approach to things. Wear your floaties for this one because it will hit you with a big splash.
2. The Earth Collective
A sci-fi audio drama delivered as a first hand account from the eyes of Joseph Crane, Humanity's 'last historian', as he attempts to chronicle their survival in rolling cities known as The Collective, fleeing from a malicious entity only found in the darkside of the planet.
Here we are with a sci-fi story that has been massively overlooked, even by yours truly. In The Earth Collective, we focus on a self described “Mankind’s Last Historian” who is collecting recordings on what few Ancestor Satellites remain. But a returning threat might just bring the planet of Oasus to disaster.
Richly unique with a keen focus on survival, rebuilding society, and, above all, a certain looming eldritch threat as an antagonist that gives this show a certain Lovecraftian edge,The Earth Collective is a show well worth getting invested in.
3. What’s The Frequency?
A psychedelic noir audio drama podcast set in 1940s Los Angeles. Recently radio broadcasts in the city have been reduced to static, leaving a popular radio serial as the only remaining show on the air. Even then the show finds itself continuously interrupted by a mysterious broadcast. A lone distorted voice reaching out for help. Follow Walter “Troubles” Mix and his partner Whitney as they search for a missing writer and navigate through a city quickly falling into madness. Could the mysterious voice be the culprit? Will anyone be able to stop the madness from spreading? And… What’s The Frequency?
A new show making the rounds and piquing the intrigue of quite a few audio drama fans is the noir series What’s The Frequency? which focuses on a duo of detectives seeking out the lost voice behind the last source of radio entertainment in an alternative Los Angeles. Insanity ensues.
What’s The Frequency? is the trippy mystery show we’ve all been waiting for. It’s Juno Steel on ecstasy, it’s fun and freaky, and the kind of experimentation and bold story that will likely be making the rounds for sometime.
4. The Blood Crow Stories
The Blood Crow Stories is an anthology series of horror stories. Our first season highlights the story of the S.S. Utopia, a cruise ship in the early 1900's. Modern-day college student, Max, begins to do his thesis on the audio diaries of the passengers on the ship. What he didn't know were the horrors that were waiting for him among the tapes, and why the ship sank so mysteriously almost 100 years ago.
Tighten your best corset and slip on your plague doctor mask because we’re gonna take a voyage to the past with The Blood Crow Stories, one of the newest contenders in horror anthology audio drama.
Something bloody and beautiful awaits for those seeking out something a little more...vintage to keep their October nights exciting. So pour yourself a cocktail and tune into this one by candlelight because The Blood Crow Stories is something for those looking for something both delectably classy and creepy.
5. The After Disaster Broadcast
Jo Prendergast broadcasts on ham radio after only surviving the Yellowstone volcano erruption with luck. Her post-apocalyptic transmissions follow her as she finds survivors and a reason to go on.
In this new apocalypse story for the average survivalist, Jo Prendergast acts as our narrator in a devastated landscape short on survivors and sense. Bad pizza and crippling loneliness await for those looking for something early in episode numbers and ripe in potential for a promising first season.
With a nice blend of horror and comedy and heart, The After Disaster Broadcast paves the way for a series that will hang around for you even in the fading moments of a well deserved existential crisis.
6. The Infinite
A limited series fiction podcast revolving around an astronaut traveling through deep space.
One man alone in space, searching...Here we have The Infinite, a short but impressive sci-fi show consisting of only five episodes to date. Sometimes less and more and The Infinite provides an eerie and emotional ride for curious drifters.
It’s a pleasant combination of the Wolf 359 framework with a SAYER psychological horror edge for flavor. The Infinite is simple yet sinister and easy to breeze through with its tense but entertaining storytelling. I assure you’ll feel right at home.
now, get to listening.♥

A rose, by any other name Eighteen hours with some of our mightiest heroes
THE FIRST MEMBER OF the Avengers I speak to is Toyama Kazuha, better known as the Black Widow.
"I don't know if we're still really the Avengers, officially, what with the Accords being up in the air and all," Toyama-san says thoughtfully as she helps me through the many non-disclosure agreements and liability waivers required for this interview. "This here's the last one, I swear – it's just in case, so much weird stuff happens when both Heiji and Shinichi-kun are around that our insurance stopped covering it."
If there's a way to respond to that statement, I don't know it.
"Like, alien weird, but also normal weird." She shakes her head as she files the papers away in their respective folders. "Trust me, you don't want ta know."
I do, actually – what could possibly constitute 'weird' around this group of people? – but she hurries me out of the room, and off to meet the rest of the maybe-not-officially-Avengers.
LIKE MOST CELEBRITIES, POLITICIANS, and other public figures, the basic facts of the various Avengers' lives are common knowledge, though some more by force than by choice.
Toyama-san, for example, has not been shy about acknowledging her roots, ever since her identity was fully confirmed in her massive online leak of SHIELD data. Fans and martial arts enthusiasts alike often frequent local dojos in hopes of seeing her drop by to give impromptu lessons on practical fighting for self-defence.
Her fellow Osakan – Hattori Heiji, aka the Falcon – has been much more vocal about promoting his hometown. It's often joked that he skywrites tourism advertisements on his days off, but meeting him in person actually lends plausibility to this notion.
The duo make up half of the current four-man team, at least on paper.
"Budget cuts, y'know, we're runnin' on a skeleton crew," Hattori-san says laconically when he meets us at the door of the conference room we're using. "Can't be helped."
"You either want us to play nice with the Accords committee or you don't, Hattori, stop complaining. And for the record, I am so blaming you if a skeleton horde actually appears later."
That's said by Kudo Shinichi, whose story – contradictory versions of it, even – has been chronicled in every historical account of the WWII period and the past decade. He has famously refused to comment on the details of his past, except to (just as famously) confirm that he has never held any form of American citizenship, nor does he have any plans to.
The last member of the quartet arrives two minutes later, trailed by a robot bearing a sizeable tray.
"Now that you've jinxed it, Kudo-kun, I'll make sure to update the emergency protocols accordingly." Miyano Shiho, formerly known as CEO of Miyano Industries but now as the Iron Lady, steps aside for the robot to roll up to us and place its tray on the table.
Toyama-san promptly ditches me to get a better look at what turns out to be an assortment of snacks. "Ooh, the good stuff! You're the best robot overlord, Shiho-chan."
"Yes, well." Miyano-san produces a holographic display out of nowhere and taps it deftly several times (raising the question of whether the Avengers Tower does, indeed, have contingencies for skeleton invasions) before dismissing it with a wave. "I do have Kudo-kun's metabolism thoroughly documented, though serum effects certainly don't account for Hattori-kun's appetite."
"Nothing accounts for his appetite," says Kudo-san in chorus with Toyama-san.
"It's the only 'enhanced' thing about Heiji, really," the latter adds. "Don't think that was what the Accords meant, though."
Hattori-san doesn't even try to deny either part, though he does look a little abashed when he turns to me. "Anyway – since we're all here, do you want ta start with your first question?"
Watching them interact like this – that is to say, without any active threat to our continued existence – is engaging enough in itself, but I gladly take the opportunity to broach the topic that's already been mentioned three times: the Sokovia Accords.
As often happens in cases where the evidence mostly amounts to opaquely-worded press releases and supposedly credible inside sources, speculation about the Accords has run rampant, drawing conspiracy theorists out of the global woodwork. In this case, though, the truth seems rather more mundane than fiction, if more convoluted at turns.
For starters, they're now known as the United Peace Accords, dropping all references to the Sokovia disaster and other past incidents.
"We wanted a name that reflected the actual goal of this agreement – or our goals, at least," Kudo-san explains with a slight frown. "Not something seemingly guaranteed to incite reaction with everyone involved."
Does the change reflect a similarly major shift in the Accords' content?
This gets several wry smiles around the table.
"There was a little... difference in opinion, let's just say," ventures Toyama-san, to a badly-concealed snort from Hattori-san.
"Suffice to say, some parts of the regulations were more controversial than others." It's Miyano-san who takes up the narrative – perhaps surprisingly, for those who have heard rumours of her staunch support for the Accords. "Which our two – gentlemen – here took upon themselves to bend and break entirely, until they uncovered a plot to attack the UN ratification summit in Vienna. Fortunately, this gave us enough leverage to push for major changes to the Accords, and a much longer grace period."
"Kudo and I are really good detectives, what can I say." Hattori-san grins fiercely. "Just as well, too, the nonsense they were proposing wasn't ever gonna work with us. They're actually letting us talk about this now?"
"Within reasonable bounds, yes." Miyano-san shrugs. "Nothing specific, and nothing that might interfere with the ongoing investigation. I believe they've realised the extent to which no press is, in fact, bad press."
"Took quite a lot of diplomacy to do it, though, which is why you weren't invited," Toyama-san quips. It's intriguing to watch her expression flip from the neutral one that's made her the public face of the Avengers to pulling a face at Hattori-san and back again.
It's also a much-needed reminder that superheroes don't stop being people, even when they're on the job.
Kudo-san rolls his eyes at their antics and looks over at me. "And they call this a team. Next question?"
