Jealous

November 17. 8:30pm
“Momo listen to me, I’m your mother!”
“We already had this conversation Mother! I don’t want to hear you speaking ill of Shoto again. You have to understand that he is my boyfriend.”
The usually quiet Yaoyorozu estate is now filled with tension as Momo’s mother tried to dissuade her for the nth time from dating Endeavor’s son. Endeavor is infamous for his land grabbing activities under the guise of loaning farmers in the rural areas at high interest rates. When the farmers are unable to pay their loan, the lands are seized and converted for commercial uses. As such, being acquainted with Endeavor will potentially hurt the Yaoyorozu businesses much more that their children are exclusively dating.
Her mother sighed.
“I know that I’ve been hounding you about dating that Todoroki boy but at least hear me out.” Her mother sat at the edge of the bed while Momo is at her study table.
The scraping of chair added more tension as Momo suddenly turned to face her mother. “That Todoroki boy has a name, Mom. His name is Shoto. I could bring him over for dinner but you and Father have your endless excuses to pass up the opportunity to really get to know him.”
“I know I didn’t give him a fair chance but please hear me out.” Her mother repeated.
Momo finally stood up and crossed her arms while signalling her mother to continue speaking.
“I would love to see you happy, believe me. All mothers know what’s best for their children.”
“I’m not a child anymore mother in case you’ve forgotten.” Momo interjected.
Her mother has already resumed her authoritarian stance and one look from her is enough to make Momo shut up and listen.
“I would allow you to date that Shoto on one condition.” She paused looking at how Momo’s eyes widen in anticipation and her mouth curled up in a smile.
“At least don’t outright reject any potential suitor from our business circle your dad and I introduce you to.”
“I would like you to meet new people. This is not just to detach ourselves with bad publicity by association with Endeavor’s family name although that too is a concern.” She saw Momo hide her snicker at her statement and she is afraid Momo will miss her point.
‘Shoto did not choose Endeavor to be his father either,’ Momo thought.
“Momo dear child, I want you to know what you really want. Widen your horizon, meet new people before you at least settle for Shoto.”
“Mom, just because I don’t meet new people doesn’t mean I don’t know what I want. With Shoto, I can be me. I can be happy with him and I love him. I’m not defending him and our relationship just to spite you but because I really love him.”
Her mother pulled Momo to sit with her and placed her arms around Momo in a comforting embrace.
“Just this once Momo okay? I want you to go out on a date with the son of our business partner. After that, you’re free to be with Shoto if you still feel that way about him.”

November 22. 9:00pm
“Kyoka, should I tell Shoto about this compromise that I had with my mother?” Momo asked Jirou while they were drinking together.
“Of course! But who in their right minds will allow their girlfriend to go on a date with some other guy?” Kyoka said as she downed her glass.
“Hmmn, you’re right. My mother really wanted to see me off with a guy of her choice. Good for the business blah blah blah…” Momo said as she also downed her drink. Why weren’t they allowed to have a normal love story? She loves Shoto he loves her too. It’s not that complicated isn’t it?
She grabbed her jacket and her purse from the bar, “Let’s go. I need some fresh air to clear my head.”

November 22. 9:45pm
“Hi Shoto, I just got home. Kyoka and I had light drinks together and she drove me home,” she messaged Shoto.
“Good to know you’re safely home. I’m still at the gym, I have two more sets to finish before I head home.” Shoto sent her a selfie while he chugged his water.
“Don’t overwork yourself. Text me when you get home.” Momo replied.
“My unit is just two floors down Momo 😍
You better get some rest. I love you!”
As soon as he hit reply, Momo replied with I love you gif. He heard his phone pinged again.
Momo sent a picture of her under the covers likely going to sleep.
These are the pictures he really liked the most. Pictures only meant for his eyes. And he’s not talking about nudes.

November 22. 9:50pm
“Wait up, so you’re saying Todoroki doesn’t know Yaomomo will go out on a date with another random dude?” Kaminari asked Kyoka while they were having a video chat after she and Momo went home to their respective houses.
“That’s what I said, dork!” Kyoka answered.
“But why would Todoroki allow Yaomomo to go then?” Kaminari persisted.
“Because he has no idea.” Kyoka rolled her eyes on Kaminari.
“This isn’t right. He has every right to know.” For once, Kyoka agreed with Kaminari.
“But of course he would do something to prevent that from happening right? Then his chances of getting together with Yaomomo will go down the drain if Yaomomo’s parents learned that he prevented her from dating another guy. Apparently, that’s the last guy her mother will introduce to Yaomomo before approving of their relationship,” Kyoka explained.
“But if he doesn’t do something, doesn’t that make him kind of lame? Allowing Yaomomo to be stolen under his nose?” Kaminari suggested.
“You know you’re cute when you’re on point,” Kyoka winked at Kaminari.
“You know I find you cute especially when you compliment me,” Kaminari blew Kyoka a kiss.

Momo arrived at the café at the rooftop of the hotel her family owned. She is wearing a black dress her mother insisted on her wearing. It’s from the newest collection of a world renowned fashion brand.
‘Gotta keep the reputation,’ she thought bitterly. She love her parents but them asking her to do this to her beloved Shoto feels like she’s in the middle of two rocks moving against each other. It is painful all right. It feels like she’s betraying Shoto which is and isn’t really the case.
She feels like she is betraying him because she goes on a date with someone not her boyfriend without his knowledge.
She isn’t because she’s only doing this for the purpose of placating her mom to get her off her love life.
Her arrival at the café garnered her several looks. She is absolutely breath taking, a stunner with light make up on and she let her waist-length hair down. She did not really put an effort in dressing up because she only wants to do so for Shoto, but Shoto isn’t even her date tonight. He had no idea about this crazy deal she had with her mother.
She walked to the table where her date is at. “Awase-san?” She inquired.
“Hi, Yaoyorozu-san” he stood up and shook her hand. He pulled the chair facing him and assisted her to sit.
“I’m so glad you took the time off to see me,” he said.
Momo observed he is tall and handsome with a good build from working out. She caught a whiff of his expensive perfume when he pulled the chair for her. Also, he is a gentleman.
“Shall we take our orders?” He waived his hand to signal the waiter to get their orders.
Momo is looking at her phone checking for Shoto’s texts because they haven’t seen each other for two days already. His latest text was lunch time. When she looked up, what greeted her sight shocked her and sent adrenaline pumping through her nerves. Her heart beat faster, like the way it usually is when they’re together.
Dual-colored hair and heterochromatic eyes met her own as he handed them the menu. His hand grazed hers while he did so. She couldn’t read through his poker face. She blinked twice and she saw him suppress a smirk.
She screamed internally, ‘I hope he’s not mad.’ ‘Why is he here of all places?’
Then she saw Kaminari who gave her a sheepish smile. Only then, she remembered Kaminari and Kirishima working part time in this hotel but Shoto? He did not tell her about him filling in, as the café was short on wait staff that day.
Awase-san tried to engage her in small talk but she couldn’t concentrate especially her boyfriend is just at the bar and some college girls batted their false eyelashes and send him flirty smiles.
Awase-san rattled off a list of people she probably acquainted with just to get something in common with the both of them and have something to talk about, but her attention is on Shoto. She tried to look attentive but she is actually staring behind Awase’s head towards the bar where Shoto is at. ‘Did that girl just wrote her number at the back of the note and gave it to Shoto?’
She is momentarily relieved when Shoto left the girl and delivered their orders. He first took out the sandwich, then gave Awase his drink. For hers, he took his sweet time and just when she is wondering if Shoto is up to something, he spilled her tea on the table.
Shoto mumbled a half-assed apology and sank to the floor to wipe up the mess he created. While Awase is talking about how the service staff should do better especially in such an elite environment, Shoto dabbed the cloth he is holding on Momo’s foot. He looked up to see Momo flustered. He repeated it again and Momo tried kicking him to no avail. Awase is still talking. He looked up only to see Momo getting redder, not from anger but those pink tints on her cheek gave Shoto a few more ideas. He dabbed the cloth from her foot to her calf. Momo looked very embarrassed but Shoto knows she’s enjoying this from the way she stopped moving her foot and stopped trying to kick him.
“Are you not finished yet?” Awase reprimanded Shoto.
“In about a minute,” Shoto replied as he made a show of wiping the floor but his other hand is on Momo’s foot.
After wiping the mess on the floor, he went back to the kitchen and washed his hands. Afterall, he has some work to do.
---
November 22. 9:57pm
After Momo sent her selfie, his phone pinged again. He opened the app and saw that the message is from Kaminari.
“Bro, what’s up?” - Kaminari
“I’m working out. Do you need something?” he replied.
“I thought you can fill in for Kirishima at the café tomorrow. He has to study for an exam and we’re short on the wait staff.”
“I have to pass up. I’m taking Momo out on a date.”
“But Kyoka told me her mother pressured Yaomomo to go out on a date with someone to make her mother off your case.”
‘Oh, so that’s why she had been drinking,’ he thought to himself.
He thanked Kaminari for the heads up and affirmed that he will be there.

November 23. 6:00pm
He thought it was no big deal for dutiful Momo to fulfil her mother’s wish so they can be together. But when he actually saw Awase looking star struck with Momo’s dazzling beauty, he had to step in. He wanted to punch the lights out of that guy when he saw him ogling Momo. He had to restrain himself. He had to keep a steely façade when Momo looked surprised to see him at the café. How he wanted to take her away from that guy. But she has to fulfil her mother’s wish even when she did not tell him anything about it the night before. He has to do his part and keep his jealousy at bay. He had his eyes trained on them the whole time even if some orders keep on coming. From time to time, he and Momo locks eyes and he mouthed I love you to which she smiled.
There’s also this annoying girl who keeps on engaging him in a conversation that went nowhere because of his monosyllabic replies. It irritates him because he can’t focus on his girlfriend, but his indifference only seemed to encourage the girl more. He couldn’t exactly rebuff her because she is a costumer.
When he looked at the time, thirty minutes had passed since he waited on them. He did not even bother changing out of his waiting uniform. It’s time to step in and end this silly charade. The girl is still blabbing about something but he just left her there. With purposeful strides, he walked to where Momo is.
Momo is just excusing herself to go to the ladies’ room when she saw Shoto walking towards her. She stood up.
Shoto boldly put his hand around her neck and looked into her eyes.
“I counted every moment you’re not with me and I really missed you.” He brushed his lips lightly across her mouth, and stepped back. Momo’s eyes looked teary but she blinked them away.
“Let’s go grab some dinner, I’m famished”, as he interlaced their fingers.
Momo knows where to take Shoto for a delicious meal that night. Before they left, she opted to explain the situation to Awase. “I’m so sorry Awase-san but I have to go now. It was nice meeting you.”
Awase can only nod at the sudden turn of events. So that’s why he felt someone is shooting daggers at the back of his head. He recognized Todoroki Shoto right away when he appeared with a menu on their table earlier. Actually, he also came at the request of his parents, not because he wanted to. Might as well finish the sandwich, it’s so good. And it’s not everyday someone is served by Todoroki Shoto.

November 23. 7:00pm
“Please prepare additional tableware. Shoto, Momo’s boyfriend will be eating dinner here tonight.” Momo’s mother instructed the household helps at the Yaoyorozu estate.

although  his  parents  wanted  him  to  go  to  college  for  business  or  law  (  as  expected  )  ,  christian  has  always  been  a  bit  more  on  the  side of  helping  those  who  are  less  fortunate  than  him  .  his  parents  have  multiple  foundations  that  they  support  ,  but  there  were  plenty  of  nights  where  they’d  come  home  from  galas  complaining  about  the  rigorous  work  that  went  into  charities  as  well  as  ensuring  that  their  money  went  where  it  was  supposed  to  .  thus  ,  that  explains  why  christian  is  majoring  in  chemistry  with  the  intent  of  becoming  a  registered  nurse  .  he  knows  that  his  parents  wouldn’t  be  happy  with  him  pursuing  such  a  career  choice  ,  especially  when  he  wants  to  travel  around  the  world  for  humanitarian  aid  --  his  parents  are  extremely  selfish  despite  their  outward  appearances  (  and  his  mom  constantly  telling  the  story  of  when  she  was  younger  and  living  in  poverty  in  bangkok  )  .
as  for  his  personality  ,  christian  is  mostly  described  as  the  brooding  type  ,  but  not  for  shits  and  giggles  .  even  though  he’s  far  away  from  his  parents  ,  he  knows  that  they  still  want  to  have  control  despite  being  thousands  of  miles  away  .  his  father  is  especially  strict  about  the  things  that  christian  does  ,  and  he  doesn’t  even  refer  to  his  son  as  his  preferred  name  .  for  his  positive  (  albeit  more  neutral  traits  )  ,  christian  is  described  as  blasé  and  taciturn  .  he’s  ridiculously  laidback  and  doesn’t  really  like  to  have  drama  surrounding  him  because  it  can  seriously  kill  his  mood  .  sometimes  ,  because  he  is  so  nonchalant  ,  it  can  lead  to  people  thinking  that  he  doesn’t  care  about  them  when  in  reality  it’s  the  situation  that  he  doesn’t  really  care  for  .  he  also  doesn’t  talk  much  so  don’t  expect  him  to  start  conversations  or  even  engage  in  one  for  a  period  of  time  .  he  keeps  to  himself  and  can  be  pretty  reclusive  ,  so  if  he  doesn’t  really  give  a  response  ,  don’t  take  it  to  heart  .
as  for  his  more  negative  traits  ,  christian  is  uncouth  and  volatile  .  he’s  more  so  disrespectful  towards  his  father  more  than  anyone  else  ,  unless  someone  is  really  pushing  his  buttons  .  his  housekeeper  ,  barbara  (  a  sweet  little  lady  )  ,  is  the  only  person  who  really  sees  how  disrespectful  christian  really  is  towards  his  father  .  his  mother  doesn’t  get  as  much  of  his  disrespect  ,  but  she  can  get  the  short  end  of  the  stick  if  she  tries  to  butt  in  (  or  if  she  dares  to  side  with  his  father  when she  knows  the  man  is  wrong  )  .  his  second  trait  really  ties  in  with  the  first  since  he  can  sometimes  really  fly  off  the  handle  if  someone  repeatedly  pushes  his  buttons  .  he  doesn’t  like  to  be  asked  if  something  is  wrong  with  him  when  he’s  not  talking  much  or  if  he  tells  someone  to  fuck  off  and  they  don’t  listen  .  it  really  grinds  his  gears  like  nothing  else  .
secret  .
so  christian’s  secret  is  that  he’s  currently  going  through  the  process  of  getting  emancipated  from  his  parents  .  he  is  going  the  route  of  implied  emancipation  ,  where  he  has  left  home  and  been  self - sufficient  for  a  number  of  months  (  i . e .  going  off  to  college  )  .  the  reason  why  he’s  been  self - sufficient  is  because  of  a  sizable  inheritance  he  obtained  at  eighteen  years  old  (  rounding  to  about  $20m  )  and  he  has  another  one  that  he’s  supposed  to  get  upon  turning  twenty - five  (  at  the  amount  of  $80m  )  .
short  headcanons  .
chris  lives  in  an  off - campus  apartment  ,  not  too  far  from  campus  .  it’s  about  ten  minutes  away  in  west  hollywood  .
he  has  two  great  loves  in  his  life  :  his  bentley  bentayga  and  kawasaki  zx - 6r  .  most  of  the  time  he  drives  his  car  ,  but  he  likes  to  pull  out  the  motorcycle  every  now  and  then  .
canon  to  yukhei  ,  christian’s  english  is  accented  since  it’s  not  his  first  language  .  the  best  video  for  an  example  is  this  one  .  there’s  another  one  where  he’s  talking  to  ten  ,  but  i  can’t  find  it  :/  .
he  is  blind  as  hell  !  don’t  ever  let  him  say  he  forgot  his  glasses  --  don’t  let  him  drive  !  almost  95%  of  the  time  ,  he  wears  contacts  but  he  does  have  days  where  he  wears  his  glasses  and  looks  like  a  tiny  baby  when  he  does  .
as  far  as  other  clubs  /  organizations  that  christian  is  a  part  of  outside  of  school  ,  he’s  currently  in  :  an  honor  society  for  stem  students  ,  and  he’s  been  on  the  soccer  team  since  he  was  a  sophomore  .
he  has  an  apricot  colored  australian  labradoodle  named  vivi  !
wanted  plots  .
i  should  mention  here  that  it’d  be  almost  impossible  for  christian  to  have  like  ,  high  school  sweetheart  plots  and  things  of  the  sort  since  he  didn’t  go  to  high  school  in  america  ,  but  a  lot  of  plots  could  come  from  summer  vacations  and  even  college  in  general  so  a  few  i’d  like  to  have  are  :
former  friends  with  benefits  !  maybe  christian  pushed  them  away  at  some  point  or  someone  caught  feelings  ,  but  either  way  i  think  it’d  be  a  really  fun  and  potentially  angsty  plot  to  have  !
i’d  love  for  him  to  have  a  best  friend  ?  gender  doesn’t  matter  ,  but  i’d  prefer  for  it  to  be  strictly  platonic  and  simply  them  able  to  be  themselves  with  one  another  .  their  friendship  doesn’t  have  to  be  a  long  one  ,  but  it  could  be  so  much  fun  !
give  me  a  failed  relationship  or  give  me  death  !  i’ve  been  wanting  a  plot  like  this  for  so  long  omg  like  maybe  they  had  a  mutual  attraction  and  were  super  into  each  other  before  the  relationship  but  then  as  soon  as  they  started  dating  ,  they  realized  how  incompatible  they  truly  were  ?  we  don’t  have  to  go  that  specific  route  ,  but  there’s  an  idea  !

synopsis: dean gets a call from an old friend that turns out to be more than just an old friend
word count: 4092
and of course, i can’t find a gif for this part so already, i’m a failure
Dean is quick to cancel your current case in Pennsylvania, telling you right outside an old gas station that you needed to head to Missouri again. At first, he is sharp, blunt, and tight-lipped to any details other than the fact that it was an old friend who’s father was killed. It wasn’t until you are in the car and on the way to Missouri when he actually spills the beans and told you and Sam that it was Cassie who had called.
Cassie seemed so far away and distant to you now, like an old memory that only holds a taste of nostalgia but you sensed by the change in Dean’s demeanor that she was much more than that to him; even still to this day. He’s avoiding eye contact and dismissing all of Sam’s questions. “By ‘old friend’ you mean,” Sam starts, trailing off the end of his sentence.
“A friend that’s not new,” Dean quips. Sam chuckles at his brother and shakes his head.
“Yeah, thanks,” Sam says. “So, her names Cassie, huh?” He asks. “You never mentioned her.” Sam crosses his arms over his chest and looks knowingly in Dean’s direction. Of course, Dean never told Sam about Cassie. You were very much a part of that time in Dean’s life and he tried to keep her a secret from you, too. He’d go out late and have midnight rendezvous with her, coming home before John woke up and noticed he was gone. You always noticed, though, and it wasn’t until a lot of pushing and prying that he finally told you.
“Yeah, we went out,” Dean tells his brother. You inject yourself into the conversation, your head peaking out from the backseat between the two boys.
“He loved her,” you sing, looking at Dean. A blush rose to his cheeks but he cleared his throat and shook his head, ignoring you completely.
“You dated someone?” Sam asks, surprise laced in his voice. Of course, it was surprising for Dean to have dated someone, especially considering his devotion to the work that you do and his constant remarks about Sam and Jessica but he did. And he loved her. “For more than one night?”
“Am I speaking a language you’re not getting here?” Dean snaps and Sam laughs. You can sense his tension, his reluctance with the conversation and you know he’s stressed about seeing Cassie again. After all, she broke his heart. “Dad I were working a job in Athens, Ohio. She was finishing up college and we went out for a couple of weeks,” he explains like it was nothing.
“And?” Sam pushes.
“And, he loveeeeed her,” you sing again. This time, Dean gives you a glare of annoyance and you smile proudly at him. You know this is the last conversation he wanted to have, but Sam won’t stop pushing until he has the details he wants.
“Look,” Sam says as he shrugs his shoulders. “It’s terrible about her dad, but it kind of sounds like a standard car accident. I’m not seeing how it fits with what we do,” he says. Sam looks back at the road and sits with his thoughts for a moment and then he comes to a realization. “Which, by the way, how does she know what we do?”
“Dean told her,” you mumble from the back. You’re picking at some loose seams in the seat even though you know Dean would have a cow if he saw you and the words didn’t really process in your head before you say them.
“You told her?! The secret? Our big family rule number one - we do what we do and we shut up about it,” Sam yells. Your breathing catches and you feel guilty almost for exposing Dean like you did but Sam would have found out eventually. “For a year and a half, I do nothing but lie to Jessica, and you go out with this chick from Ohio a couple of times and you tell her everything?” Sam’s face is turning red and you feel uncomfortable almost. It isn’t easy keeping a secret as big as the one you had, especially when you fall as deeply and as hard as Dean had for Cassie. You never really blamed Dean for telling her, in fact, he consulted you beforehand and you gave him the go-ahead but considering Sam’s negativity surrounding the entire thing, you keep that part to yourself.
“Yeah, looks like,” Dean says, brushing off his brother’s anger. He wouldn’t admit it, but it was much more than dating for a couple of weeks. You think maybe he would defend himself, yell back, or tell Sam your involvement but he keeps his mouth shut and continues to drive without saying another word.
The music plays a little louder and the tension grows a little thicker with each passing mile until you reach the sheriff's department in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where Cassie and her family now live. When you go inside, Cassie is having an argument with someone and it looks like she’s losing. When all is said and done, she turns around and sees Dean and they make eye contact for the first time.
Her eyes go soft at the sight of him like there’s no one else in the room and your heart jumps a beat just thinking about how happy Dean was the last time he was with her. “Dean,” she breaths out like a sigh of relief.
“Hey, Cassie,” Dean says and Cassie closes the distance between her and the three of you. The two of them stare at each other like they’re in a movie. Like the entirety of their relationship was playing inside the other’s eyes.
You look up at Sam and he looks down at you with a smirk on his face and you lean up, “see?” You whisper in his ear. Sam smiles wider and looks back at Cassie.
Eventually, Dean clears his throat and introduces Sam. “This is my brother, Sam and you remember, Y/N, right?” Cassie nods and says her hellos but her attention is right back on Dean. “I’m sorry about your dad.”
“Yeah, me too,” she says.
+++
Cassie takes the three of you to her parent’s home and you sit between the two boys on an old couch with an ugly pattern on it while Cassie prepares tea that no one really asked for, but she insisted so you all obliged.
“My mom’s in pretty bad shape,” Cassie says as she comes back into the living room with a tray of the tea. “I’ve been staying with her. I wish she wouldn’t go off by herself, she’s been so nervous and frightened.” Cassie sets the tray down on a table and pours each of you a cup of tea. “She was worried about dad.”
“Why?” Dean asks from next to you.
“He was seeing things,” she says. When Dean asks for more information, Cassie tells him that her dad swore up and down that he saw a black truck following him.
“A truck? Who was the driver?” Sam asks as Cassie brings the cups of tea around to you. You take it from her and smile, mumbling a thank you just as Sam and Dean did.
“He didn’t talk about a driver, just the truck.” Cassie sits down on the chair opposite of you and rubs her hands against her jean skirt. “He said it’d appear and disappear and in the accident, dad’s truck was dented like it had been slammed into by something big,” she explains.
“You’re sure this dent wasn’t there before?” You ask her. You set your cup on tea down on your lap so you resist the urge to start bouncing your leg. You tap the tap of the little plate instead.
“He sold cars, always drove a new one,” Cassie says and shakes her head. “There wasn’t a scratch on that thing.” She sounds so convincing that you almost believer her before you get any more information. “It had rained hard that night. There was mud everywhere. There was a distinct track of muddy tracks from dad’s car right to the edge,” she says and then her voice cracks, “where he went over.” She resists the urge to cry as she looks down at her lap and you look up at Dean. His eyes are soft as they look at her, like seeing her in pain was causing him pain, too. Cassie looks back up but her sadness was replaced with anger. “One set of tracks, his.” She was insistent and determined.
“And the first person who was killed was a friend of your father’s?” Dean asks, trying to get more information about the other victim.
“Best friend - Clayton Solmes. They owned a car dealership together. Same thing - dent, no tracks,” she tells you. You take a sip of your tea and try not to grimace at the taste of it. You were always a coffee girl, no matter how wired it made you. “The cops said exactly the same thing as they did about Dad - he lost control of the car.”
“Can you think of any reason why your father and his partner might be targets?” Dean asks her. Cassie shakes her head, no.
“And you think this vanishing truck ran him off the road?” Sam asks. His eyebrows are raised and he asks her like he doesn’t quite believe her.
“When you say it aloud like that,” she sighs. The sadness was back. The pain of not knowing what happened to her dad etched all over her face. “Listen, I’m a little skeptical about this ghost stuff or whatever it is you guys are into,” she says and keeps her eyes trained on the ground.
Dean chuckles and shakes his head, “a little skeptical? If I remember, I think you said I was nuts.” You look up at Dean with wide eyes. He never told you that part.
“That was then,” she says. Dean bums and nods his head like the answer wasn’t good enough for him but Cassie ignores it and sighs. “I just know that I can’t explain what happened up there, so I called you.”
You look over at Sam and he looks back at you and shrugs his shoulders just as the door opens. All
four of you swing your head around to the front door and an older woman with light brown hair and a trench coat walks in.
Cassie’s quick to her feet and the three of you follow suit. The woman, Cassie’s mom, puts her hand to her chest when she hears Cassie call for her. She looks at you and the boys in surprise. “I had no idea you’d invited friends over,” she says. She was breathless.
“Mom, this is Dean and Y/N, friends of mine from…..college,” Cassie explains. Her hesitation between words makes Dean shift on her feet and the two exchange a look that makes you exchange a look with Sam.  “And that’s his brother, Sam.” You wave at Cassie’s mom but she doesn’t smile or acknowledge either of you at all.
“Well, I-I-I won’t interrupt you,” she says. She stutters over her words and rings her purse straps in her hands like she’s nervous. She goes to turn away when Dean stops her.
“Mrs. Robinson?” She turns back around to look at Dean. He clears his throat and says, “we’re sorry for your loss. We’d like to talk to you for a minute if you don’t mind.”
She looks offended at his question and furrows her brows at him. “I’m not really up to that just now,” she says and pushes Cassie’s hand off her arm as she storms out of the living room and up the stairs of the house. Cassie wears a face of sadness and disappointment but you all three give her a smile.
+++
In the early morning, you and the boys are called to yet another crime scene. Jimmy Anderson, another black man killed. There are police cars everywhere and medics putting a body covered in a black bag in the back of the ambulance and Cassie was arguing with a man that looks like he’s wearing a tu-pay.
“Did the cops check for denting on Jimmy’s car to see if it was pushed?” Dean asks as you walk up behind Cassie. She turns around to look at him and the man she’s arguing with looks offended that Dean would question his police department.
“Who’s this?” The man asks Cassie, nodding towards you and the boys.
“Dean and Sam Winchester, their friend Y/N,” she introduces you and then introduces the man as Mayor Todd.
“There’s one set of tracks - one. Doesn’t point to foul play,” he says without saying hello to either one of you. He’s quick to dismiss any of Cassie or Dean’s concerns and he seems rather certain. You look around at the scene. A busted up car with the front bumper hanging off. One set of tracks in the mud following it.
“Mayor, the police and town officials take their cues from you - if you’re indifferent about -“ Cassie starts her argument but Mayor Todd cuts her off.
“Indifferent?” He asks.
“Would you close the road if the victims were white?” She snaps. You raise your eyebrows but you always remembered Cassie to be quick and strong and never back down.
“You’re suggesting I’m a racist, Cassie?” He asks. She tilts her head, taunting him, telling him the answer is yes. “I’m the last person you should be talking to me like that.”
“And why’s that?” Cassie asks.
“Why don’t you ask your mother?” Mayor Todd says. He looks up at you and the boys briefly before turning around and walking away. You almost could feel Cassie’s anger radiating off of her.
+++
Instead of a hotel room, you convinced the boys to rent out a cute little cabin for the few days you’d be in town. Now that you were in it, it kind of creeps you out with the deer antlers on the wall and weird creaky doors. You sit on the edge of the bed and Sam grabs his suit jacket from next to you and starts adjusting his tie. “I’ll say this for her, she’s fearless,” Sam says. He goes right in front of the mirror to see himself as he adjusts and Dean’s standing next to him, doing the exact same.
“Yeah, Cassie’s a total badass, huh?” You say and walk to join them after you slip on your heels. They click against the wooden floorboards and once you’re in front of the mirror, you fix your lipstick and fluff your hair.
Dean just mumbles a response to you and as Sam puts on his coat and he looks at his brother. “Bet she’s kicked your ass a couple times,” he jokes. He looks back at himself in the mirror and adjusts his tie. You put your heels on the dresser in front of you and look at Sam in the mirror.
“She totally has,” you tell him and laugh. Dean looks over at you and glares. You smile at him sweetly and he smacks the back of his hand against your thigh. You were wearing tights but that didn’t protect from the sharpness of his hit. The three of you were dressing as insurance agents this time. All black suits for the boys and a little black dress for you. Paired with the tights, it was rather professional looking but without: it would kill. “What? It’s true,” you defend yourself.
Sam laughs and then lets out a sigh, shaking his head a little bit. “Well it’s interesting that you guys never really look at each other at the same time,” he says. You look over at him but he looks past you and at Dean. “You look at her when she’s not looking. She checks you out when you look away,” Sam continues. Dean glares are him, too, but he doesn’t respond. “It’s just an interesting observation,” he pauses, “in an interesting observational way.”
“Yeah? Like you and Y/N?” Dean quips. There’s a sharpness in his voice, anger. You snap your head to the older brother and your eyes widen. You hear Sam chuckle from behind you. “Anyway, you think we might have some more pressing issues here?” Dean’s tie is finally straight and he throws his hands up and let them fall, smacking against his thighs.
“Hey, if I’m hitting a nerve,” Sam trails off his sentence and walks away from the dresser you were all getting ready at. Dean groans and follows him, telling you to leave. You fan out your lashes one last time before grabbing your purse off the bed and following the boys to the Impala.
You had asked Cassie for any contacts close to Jimmy Anderson. Anyone that could give you any useful information. She gave you the name Ron Stubbins, who you found outside of a bait shop playing checkers.
Ron is unfriendly at first, a grumbly voice with anger behind it. “We’re with Mr. Anderson’s insurance company. Just here to dot some I’s and cross some T’s,” Dean explains to Ron.
“We were just wondering if the deceased mentioned any unusual recent experiences?” Sam asks. You hold a small, open notebook in your hands and you tap the end of your pen against the blank page.
“What do you mean, unusual?” Ron asks. He seems unconvinced and the man sitting next to him was checking the three of you out so closely, you start to feel uncomfortable.
“Visions, hallucinations,” you say to give some examples, trailing off at the end of your sentence where Dean picks up immediately after.
“It’s all part of a medical examination kind of thing,” he says. He sounds unsure of himself and Ron senses it.
“What company you say you were with?” He asks. Dean pulls out a piece of paper that was so obviously fake but he only pulls it out enough so Ron can see that it’s there and Dean tells him you’re with All-National Mutual.
“Did Jimmy ever say anything about seeing a truck? A big black truck?” You ask. Your eyes are more focused on the man sitting next to Ron, who was now looking anywhere but at the three of you. He looks like he knows something.
“What the hell are you talking about? You even speaking English?” Ron asks. He goes back to playing his checkers game when the man next to him speaks up.
“This truck,” he starts. “A big, scary, monster-looking thing?” He asks.
“I think so, actually,” Sam says from next to you. The man hums and looks away briefly. “What?” Sam asks, prompting him to continue talking. The man looks back to the three of you and sighs.
“I have heard of a truck like that,” he says nonchalantly.
“You have?” Sam asks. You’re slightly taken back for some reason. Part of you was questioning whether Cassie was actually telling the truth or just searching for something to blame for her father’s death. “Where?” Sam asks.
“Not where - when,” the man says. “Back in the ‘60s, there was a string of deaths. Black men. The story goes they disappeared in a big, nasty black truck,” he explains.
“Did they catch who it was?” Dean asks.
“Never found him.” The man shakes his head. “Hell, not even sure they really looked. See there was a time this town wasn’t too friendly to all its citizens,” he says. Ron shifts uncomfortably next to his friend and the boys nod.
“Seems like not much has changed,” you comment and tap your finger against the wooden picnic table the men were sitting at and the three of you turn to walk away.
“This truck,” Dean says as you walk.
“Keeps coming up, doesn’t it?” You say. You close the notebook you were holding and hand it to Sam, who tucked it into his suit jacket.
“I was thinking, you ever heard of the Flying Dutchman?” Dean asks.
You and Sam both nod, but Sam answers. “A ghost ship infused with the captain’s evil spirit. It was basically a part of him,” he explains.
Dean nods his head and suggests that maybe you were dealing with the same thing now. “A phantom truck who’s the extension of some bastard ghost, re-enacting past crimes.”
“The victims have all been black men,” you point out.
“I think it’s more than that,” Dean says quickly. “They all seem connected to Cassie and her family.” Dean makes a good point and you rack your brain for what the possible connection could be but there was little to no evidence about anything that was happening, so that was hard.
“Well, you work that angle. Go talk to her,” Sam suggests. Dean nods in agreement and Sam looks at you knowingly and you shake your head, knowing he was about to say something he maybe shouldn’t. “Oh, and don’t forget about that other thing.”
Dean stops and turns around when you reach the Impala. “What other thing?” He asks.
“That serious unfinished business,” Sam says and chuckles. “Dean, what is going on between you two?” You feel bad for leaving Sam in the dark about just how serious Dean and Cassie used to be but you were positive it was more serious than Dean even let you know.
“So maybe we were a little bit more involved than I said,” Dean admitted. Sam shoves his hands in his pockets and you lean against the car. Sam nods his head like he’s not surprised and Dean looks over at you, making firm eye contact. You encourage him with a look and he sighs. “Okay, a lot more. Maybe.” Sam chuckles and looks over at you. You shrug your shoulders and let Dean talk. “I told her the secret about what we do, and I shouldn’t have.”
You know that last comment has nothing to do with Sam’s outburst about Dean spilling the beans and more about what happened after he told her. Sam was a little more oblivious than that. “Look, man, everybody’s got to open up to someone sometime.”
“Yeah, I don’t,” Dean snapped. “It was stupid to get that close. I mean, look how it ended.” You flashback to when Dean and Cassie were full force and how happy he seemed. There weren’t so many walls put up and ever since, he seemed to have built more. Sam smiles at him, looking at his brother like he’s trying to figure him out. Dean widened his eyes at his brother. “Would you stop? Blink or something.”
“You loved her,” Sam observes. He’s right, which is why Dean groans and turns around to get into the car but Sam just follows him. “You were in love with her, but you dumped her.” You stay towards the back of the car and let the boys have their moment. You don’t really know what happened toward the end of their relationship. You know he told her and then they broke up, but the details were hidden to you, too.
Dean looks up at his brother briefly and the look he gave him said it all. “She dumped you?” You ask from behind Sam. The two boys look back at you and Dean gives you a serious look. Sam scoffs, just nearly as shocked as you were.
“Get in the car,” Dean orders and throws himself in the driver’s seat of the car. Sam turns around to look at you.
“I told you,” you sing as he walks towards you. He shakes his head and stops when he’s in front of you.
“Why didn’t you tell me how serious it was? I thought you were mostly just joking,” Sam says as he looks towards the mirror where you can see Dean sitting in the car. His fingers are tapping against the steering wheel and he looks mad, upset, a mix of both.
“He wouldn’t have wanted me to, you know that,” you tell Sam. He nods and then looks back at you. He puts his hand on your elbow and guides you to the other side of the car. He keeps his hand on your arm as he walks you around the car. “He was happy, though. Really happy,” you tell Sam.
He puts his hand on the door handle and his breathing hits your ear. “I’m sorry I missed it,” he says.
“Yeah, me too,” you tell him as he opens the door for you.

LOST      - PART II
Kai Parker x Reader word count : 4 723 warning : possible triggers (around the end of the story) summary : continues the story from part I … *gif by me _________________________________________
Kai moved a little closer to her and Y/N stood up, glancing at her friends with a confused look in her eyes. He couldn’t believe what was happening and couldn’t believe he hadn’t foreseen Seline’s little trick. How hadn’t he figured out there would be a catch? Was this what his life was supposed to be? Endless sea of pain and misery with only a few isles of happiness here an there? Why would fate throw him and Y/N together, allow them to have a child just to crush both of them afterwards? How it was that just when he had everything he could’ve ever wanted – people who truly love him and care for him, he ended up having his happiness slip right through his fingers?    “Y/N? Y/N, it’s me. Kai.“ he got up, taking her hands in his so suddenly she slightly jumped up. “S-sorry. I – Please tell me you know who I am.”    “No.“ she smiled nervously at him, yanking her hands free. “Sorry. I have no idea who you are.” Damon took a step towards them, lightly pushing Kai away. “Oh-kay. How about we get you to a hospital. Caroline ?”    “Hospital ?“ questioned Y/N. “Why would I need a –”    “I’ll explain everything on the way.“ smiled Caroline, taking a step towards Y/N and Kai who looked like sad lost puppy unable to tear his eyes away. “You know who I am right?”    “Yeah. I do –“ she smiled. "Stefan, Damon, Bonnie, Caroline and … the only person I don’t know is him.”    “But you do know me !“ exclaimed Kai trying to push his way past Damon. "Get out of my way. Don’t you see what Seline has done ?!” The eldest Salvatore placed his hands on Kai’s shoulders and held him away while he watched as the girl he loves walked through the door. Only after they were gone, the vampire let go off him.    “Listen to me twirp.“ started Damon. "I know you care about her in your own weird twisted way but now it’s not the time –”    “When would be the time, Damon ?“ asked Kai, rubbing his chin. "I get it. You hate me but this is not about me. It’s about Y/N and my son. Tell me when do I get to meet him?” he stared at the vampire for a long moment. “You know what, don’t answer that. There is someone I have to go torture and kill downstairs right now. I suggest you go to Mystic Falls and get that pitching fork. Fast. Because Seline might be our only way to get Y/N’s memories back.” Kai pushed his way past the vampire when Stefan blocked his way.    “Where are you going ?“    “Downstairs to rip Seline’s head off. Weren’t you listening ?” said Kai as if it’s obvious and in a flash he whooshed himself downstairs to the cells. He could barely contain his emotions or understand what half of them meant but the second he saw the siren, anger won over. “What have you done to her ?”    "Awwh you woke her up. Good for you.“ smirked Seline, getting up from the bed she had been sitting on, playing cards. "I take it you didn’t like how your reunion went?” Kai clenched his jaw, trying hard not to enter the cell and get things physical.    “Tell me how to get her memories back or I swear –“    “Your threats don’t work on me, Kai.” she stated. “I work for the Devil himself. I warned you. Did you really think you’d get to wake her up and pick up where you had left off ? Have a family while working with Cade ? It doesn’t work that way.”    “You knew about my son.“    “Of course I did. So does Cade.” said the siren as if it’s obviously. “He knows a lot more than you can imagine.”    “If you touch Peter, I swear –“ Seline laughed. "There it is again, that sentimental attachment. Forget about her, forget about Peter. That boy doesn’t need you in his life. Let them move on. You have job to do –”    “I don’t care. I will get her memories back and I will find a way to send you into oblivion.“
Later that same afternoon Kai did a locator spell, tracking down his son and the girl he loved. On his way there he thought about what he’d tell her andhow he’d tell her. There was no easy way to explain everything that had happened until this day. Their history, who he truly was and all he had done. But he had to try because not being with them, his true family, felt like his heart being ripped out of his chest. Four knocks on the door later Kai tried to dry his sweaty palms in his jeans, nerves taking over completely. Then the door opened. He saw his son for the first time in the real world and everything went away. A wide smile showed on Kai’s face and he knelt on the ground watching the boy lick his jam covered fingers.    “Hi.” smiled Kai, barely able to contain himself from reaching out and hugging him. He was pretty sure if he got the chance, he’d never let go. “Is your mom home ?” His son nodded. “Could you call her to the door?”    “Mommy !“ called out the boy, running away from the door just in time to run into his mother’s arms. Y/N lifted him up and headed towards the door scolding the young boy about eating jam before dinner.    “You.” she stated. “H-how did you ?!”    “Hi. I um –“ smiled Kai nervously. ”– I know earlier I must’ve scared you. It wasn’t my intention. I just I – I want to talk to you. Explain things or at least try to.“ Y/N studied his face for a long moment and stepped aside. "S-sure. Come in.”    “Thanks.“ he stepped inside, looking around. He took one of the pictures on the reading light table and smiled. There she was at the swimming hole wearing her bikini while he used maguc to splash her with a bucket of water while he was taking the picture. "I had forgotten how good you um –” he cleared his throat remember there was a child in the room.    “Oh um –“ she smiled nervously, letting Peter down on the ground. "Why don’t you go get your crayons or a puzzle and we can all play together.” Peter smiled widely and ran off laughing. Y/N ran her fingers through her hair and lightly folded her arms on her chest watching Kai walk around and touch things. Mostly trail his fingers and smile to himself as if remembering something. Her eyes followed him around the room and she couldn’t help but notice the striking resemblance between him and Peter. It was like her son was a mini version of Kai or something, which made her wonder about so many things. Caroline had explained how Seline had done something to her, how she does know Kai but had been so vague on the ’how’ –    “This place hasn’t changed.“ he said smiling. "Look, I know you don’t remember me and –”    "Do you want something ? Tea ? Coffee ? Bourbon.“    “Hot cocoa?” he said hopefully. “With the chilly spices. I mean, I know its almost spring but –. Is that weird ?” Y/N smiled at him and took out two cups out of the cupboard while Kai leaned in against the kitchen counter not taking his eyes away from her for a second. “And tiny marshmallows right ?” Kai nodded. “That’s how Peter likes it too–” she trailed off.    “Apparently eating jam as a finger food too.“ he reached his fingers in the open jam jar on the counter. "Blueberry. Nice.”    “So –“    “So –” he trailed off, gazing at her and sighed. “Look, I know your memories of me got erased or got locked away somewhere in your mind. I promise I will tell you everything you want to know just I beg you to listen before you jump to conclusions.”    “Conclusions ?! What – oh-kay…“ she smiled, passing him the hot cocoa when Peter showed up with a large box with a puzzle in his hands. "300 pieces!? Wow, you think big.” Peter reached for the cocoa and Y/N lifted the glass up. “Not before dinner.”    “But mommy –“    “No ‘but’s. You know the rules. You spoiled your appetite enough with that jam.” she said watching Kai ruffle the young boy’s hair. “Peter this is Kai. He is um –”    “Your mom’s old friend.“ said Kai kneeling down until his eyes were on the same level as his son’s, taking a peek at the puzzle. It was from a cartoon he had seen before – Cars. "Wow, Lightning McQueen. You like Cars ?”    “Yes !“ said the little boy jumping excitedly, laughing.    “Awesome. So do I.” smiled Kai. “How about you help me find a comfy place for us to do the puzzle and you can tell me all about why you like Lightning McQueen.” Y/N watched half curious half cautious as the boys walked around the living room and sat on the floor by one of the large windows. Kai helped Peter spill the puzzle all around and then without any warning half of the puzzle pieces flew up in the air. A part of her expected Kai to freak out, not knowing if he knows about supernaturals or not but the look on his face told her otherwise. He was in a complete awe, helping Peter start the puzzle and getting so distracted in doing so his son drank half his hot cocoa.    “Peter!“ she warned, sitting on the ground next to Kai who had reached all the way across the puzzle piece pile to get a piece Peter needed. "You don’t look surprised to see him do all this.”    “Oh, the floating objects ?“ smiled Kai, barely taking his eyes away from the little boy. "I um… Around this age you start doing these amazing things and at first its accidental and random… and then you start to figure it out.”    “So you know about magic ?“ she questioned. Kai nodded. “I do. I was a witch before I turned into a vampire/witch hybrid.” he snatched the cup with hot cocoa out of Peter’s reach.  “Nah-uh.” he lifted in the air. “We don’t want your mom to get upset with us do we ?”    “No.“ sighed the little boy, "Sorry, mommy.”    “It’s okay, trouble.“ she brushed her palm against her son’s cheek  and took a sip from her cocoa. Kai grinned at her and for a long moment they just gazed into each other’s eyes then awkwardly looked away. It felt as if something inside her sparked, watching Kai smile at her, his smoky blue eyes filled with mischief just like her sons, but before she had gotten the chance to ask, Peter ‘stole’ Kai’s attention, both of them making funny faces at each other while ordering the puzzle pieces. "Hey, Kai?”    “Yes?“ he looked up from the now almost finished puzzle.    “Would you like to stay over for dinner?” Kai smiled widely at her. “I’d love to. But um – do you mind if I make dinner?”    “You are a guest, I can’t possibly –“    “Y/N –” he said softly. “– I offered and I want to. I really do. So, what do you want !”    “Pancakes !“ exclaimed Peter, jumping on Kai’s lap. Y/N and Kai laughed. "Please, mommy?”    “Yes. Please, mommy.“ said Kai, both he and Peter giving her their best puppy dog eyes. And there it was again – the striking resemblance between them. Maybe it was her imagination but something told her Kai was a little more than her friend. It was the way he looked at her, as if she was the only other person in the whole wide world. Ready to jump and take a bullet for her or something. How his eyes literally turned into hearts like in cartoon shows –    “You two –” she sighed, shaking her head smiling. “Alright. But I am on maple syrup partrol.” Kai laughed under his breath. “Better I do that. You tend to pour half the bottle –”    “Hilarious.“ she laughed. “Let’s go then, maple syrup police.”  *                    *                     * Kai sat by Y/N’s bed gently brushing his fingers against her cheek while watching her sleep. He sighed and his lips curled into a small smile. Earlier he had been supposed to leave and he had left, only later on he had sneaked back inside the house unable to stay away from his family. He knew they couldn’t pick up from they had left off for so many reasons, but was willing to wait and if for some reason he couldn’t get her memories back – he was going to do everything to win her heart all over again because his life without her and Peter no longer existed. Y/N stirred in her sleep, muttering something he couldn’t understand when he heard footsteps from the other room. A moment later Peter showed up and climbed onto the bed with her. Instinctively her arms wrapped around him and she hummed in her sleep. Kai watched the two most important people in his life and couldn’t help but smile. Even though he had barely spent an afternoon with Peter, Kai already knew he loves him and made a promise to himself to be the best father any boy can have. Or at least try to but first –    “Whatever it takes.” he whispered, kissing his son’s forehead before pressing his lips against hers. “I will get your memories back. I promise.” Kai sighed and headed downstairs to grab a pack with pork rinds before lying down on the couch for a few minutes. There were so many things to deal with at the moment. Cade, Katherine, sirens… the fact Y/N’s friends couldn’t stand him and the only reason they hadn’t killed him again yet was because of her and Peter. But the only thing that truly mattered to the young heretic was his son, his girl and finding a way to get her memories back. He closed his eyes and listened to their heartbeats upstairs and smiled. Each beat represented hope. Hope that after everything he might be able to redeem himself and finally be happy. He got so lost in his thoughts hearing the footsteps nearing almost made him jump up from his seat just in time to see Y/N walk right past him and into the kitchen. Only there was something different about the way she walked. Almost as if she wasn’t conscious of her own actions. Immediately Kai got up and followed her, watching her reach inside one of the drawers and pull out a knife.    “Y/N?“ he took a step towards her removing the cloaking spell he had put on himself. It didn’t appear she had heard him or seen him at all. "Y/N? Talk to me. Hey –” Kai watched as Y/N examined the sharpness of the blade and before he had had time to say a single syllable or even process what she was about to do, she stabbed herself in the abdomen. His eyes widened and he caught her mid-fall, pulling out the knife and quickly biting his wrist before bringing it to her lips for her to heal.    “Damn it –“ he muttered. At first nothing happened and Kai held his breath. Then her hands wrapped around his wrist and a sight of relief left his lips the exact same second. Her eyes fluttered closed and he lifted up her t-shirt enough to see the wound closing. Y/N let go of his wrist and looked around with a look of shock and confusion in her eyes.    “What?” she looked up at him. “Kai ? How– what?” Instantly he pulled her towards him holding her tightly against him. “You stabbed yourself with a knife. You know, I knew you sleep walked when you had a lot on your mind but this is a whole knew level of scary.”    “What? No, I’d never –“ she said, pulling away from him. "How are you here? I thought you left.” Kai scratched his forehead nervously, not wanting to lie to her. “I didn’t leave. Not really. I just – I couldn’t.”    “Why?“ she asked curious.    “Because –” he gazed into her eyes. “– you might not have your memories and not remember who I am or what we mean to each other, but … You are my life. You and Peter.” Y/N studied his face for the hundredth time since they had met when suddenly she wrapped her arms around him and he did the same. His lips curled into a smile and he buried his face in the crook of her neck listening to her heart beating stronger than ever.    “Thank you.“ she said, slowly pulling away. She got up and glanced at her PJ’s, lightly gripping on her bloody shirt. Kai looked at her and awkwardly turned away.    “Why did you do it?” he asked suddenly. “Why could you try to take your own life?”    “I – I don’t remember.“ she said quietly, taking off her shirt before pushing down her PJ bottoms which had blood on them too. Kai couldn’t help himself watching her reflection in the kitchen window as she did. Y/N tossed her bloody clothes in the laundry machine and Kai took off his jacket, passing it to her. "Thanks. You can turn around now.” Kai squeezed his eyes and took a slight peek, instantly gulping. Y/N had buttoned up his jacket but it still barely coveredkitc and by all definitions she looked beyond stunning.    “Wow.“ he smiled, taking a step towards her fixing her hair which had gotten partially stuck under the jacket. "You look – so pretty right now I –” Y/N smiled shyly at the ground while Kai took another step towards her until she could feel his breath on her face. He rubbed her shoulders gently, warming her up and fought the urge to pull her into his arms again like he would’ve done under other circumstances. All her friends always saw the monster, the abomination but not her and even thought they had had such a short time together he had never felt happier in his life than during those few months he had her in his arms.    “Who are you really?“ she asked suddenly. "I know we are friends. I know for some reason Peter is important to you which I can’t imagine why since you just met him –”    “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.“ he smiled, brushing his palm against her cheek.    “Try me.” Kai pursued his lips and sighed. “I am … was… your boyfriend until the wedding when I died, four years ago.”    “Four – four years ago?“ she questioned, he nodded. "What happened? H-how did you die?” Kai smiled at the ground and helped her sit on the couch, trying to figure out how to tell her. What if he tells her the truth, the full truth, and she rejects him ? He couldn’t bear losing her … or lying to her.    “It all started in 1994 when I did something really awful and got myself sent to a Prison World for it. Stuck all by myself reliving the same day over and over again.“ he said quietly, looking at her. "I was born without my own magic and to my family that made me the black sheep, the abomination. They didn’t understand it so they isolated me. I couldn’t even touch anyone because they’d always flinch or run away from me. After my and my twin sister Jo’s 22nd birthday we were supposed to do this merge ceremony. Only that wasn’t what my father intended for us. He wanted to wait for the back up set of twins he and my mother had brought up to this world to turn 22 years old because his original twins had a design flaw.”    “Being born different is not a flaw.“ she said softly. "It makes you special.” Kai smiled.   “You’d think that right?“ he said. "Anyways, after figuring out my father’s intentions I snapped and got to spent the next like 18 years all by myself, unable to die no matter what cuz my family didn’t want me to end my sentence early. And then whoops, one day out of the blue while I was walking around Mystic Falls your buddies Damon and Bonnie showed up out of nowhere. Eventually I got out and my family reunion didn’t go very well, I suppose. I tried to do the merge with my twin sister as I was supposed to but instead I got to merge with my brother Luke.”    “Stronger one wins, the weaker one dies.“ she said quietly.    “Wait – you remember ?”    “N-no. It’s just I remember bits and pieces of a conversation from Thanksgiving at Whitmore. But it’s really fuzzy. Its like the more I think about it, the fuzzier it gets.“ she smiled nervously. "So… When did we meet?” she asked curious, scooting over on the couch to make place for Kai to sit. Y/N tucked in a strand of her hair barely able to tear her eyes from him.    “We met around Christmas after I siphoned the spell keeping the supernaturals out of Mystic Falls.“ he paused, taking shallow breath. "And after siphoning all this magic I may have kidnapped Elena –”    “You what ?“ she asked a little shocked.    “– and when your buddies came to get her, you were the one who convinced them not to kill me on the spot like Damon wanted.” he said softly. “We had crossed paths before, at Skull bar on Whitmore campus when I went to see my sister Liv but Christmas was the first time we actually interacted. You walked down the hallway checking the rooms for Elena and then you turned around finding me instead. You always saw good in me, in the sociopath everyone hated and feared. I am not a good person, Y/N. I’ve done awful things but even knowing what I’ve done, you decided to give me a chance. You believed in me when no one did and after the merge when I gained Luke’s empathy things between you and me changed. We fell in love with each other and things happened.” Y/N listened, trying to imagine everything he was telling her. It was so much information for her to process but there it was this feeling deep inside her heart and soul, a feeling which told her he was being truthful. And seeing his eyes in that moment she knew her instinct wasn’t lying.    “But then Damon and Bonnie got the brilliant idea to leave me in another Prison World where I was stuck for a few weeks before returning just in time for my sister’s wedding where I um – I killed myself. And being the all powerful leader of the Gemini coven, that meant taking down my entire family with me.“ he said quietly, still waiting for her to run away screaming or call her friends to come save her from ‘the monster’. "After I turned and your friends found out I had linked Elena’s life to Bonnie’s to get back at her for ditching me in the 1903 Prison World, Damon killed me. But not before you tried to stand in his way. This night changed so much for the both of us and I didn’t know it back then, neither did you but… you were pregnant at the time.”    “Wait –“ she closed her eyes, running her fingers through her hair. "Are you t-telling me you are Peter’s father ?”    “Believe me, I was more than surprised when you told me earlier today when I was in your head trying to save you.“ he smiling nervously. "I mean, can’t you see it? He is like a mini version of –”    “– you.“    “Yeah.”    “You have the same hair, same habbits.“ she thought out loud. "Jam fingers?” she said a little amused and he laughed. “And those blue eyes. That mischievous spark that’s driving me completely insane.” Kai smiled. “You always said that. So, you believe me then?“ he asked hopefully.    “I do.” she smiled. “You just sound so honest and it’s hard to deny what’s right in front of my eyes.”    “T-there is something else.“ he looked nervously at his hands. "What happened to you is my fault. You not remembering any of this, I mean. When I came back, I wasn’t really back. I was still stuck a little bit in Hell and to get a permanent foothold here and find you, I made a deal with Cade.”    “What kind of a deal ?“    “You know the work the sirens do for him? I um … I said I’d do the same. And then I got myself thrown into a cell at the Armoury and … after three days looking for you, you found me. I heard you talk with your friends. Begging them to let you see me or more likely threatening Damon to gouge out his eyes unless he did. And on your way to me, Seline jumped you and put you in a coma. I woke you up which is, you know good because if I hadn’t –” he swallowed hard. “– but the siren had thought ahead and now you don’t remember me. No sentimental attachments. That was the deal and with you and Peter around I –”    “You can’t uphold your end of the bargain. “ she stated. "Kai, do you still –”    “Love you ? Want to be with you and a part of our son’s life ?“ he finished for her. "I do. But with your memories  gone? You got a clean slate. You can start over with Peter, move away and not be burdened by the pain of losing me or any the supernatural craziness in this town. Maybe Seline is right, maybe I should go and –”    “Do you really want to go ?“ she took his hands in hers. "Because you seem like someone who fights for what he wants, doesn’t give up and always wins in the end. I know I don’t remember us. I wish I did. What we had clearly was.. something special and if I was willing to die to save you, willing to ‘walk over’ my friends to see you, to be with you and tell you about Peter. I am pretty sure I’d protest loudly about you leaving.”    “You would, actually.“ he smiled gazing into her eyes. He brushed his palm against her cheek and almost immediately her cheeks flushed and her heart skipped a beat. "Y/N, I promise I will do whatever it takes to get your memories back.”    “Hey, if that doesn’t work… we can always make new ones.“ she smiled. "You, me and Peter.”    “I’d love nothing more.“ he pulled her into his arms, hearing her sigh. Somehow everything felt absolutely perfect in that moment. Then she snuggled closer to him on the couch. For a while they just cuddled, both of them getting lost in their thoughts.    “You know, it’s his birthday tomorrow. Well, today.” she smiled.    “It is ?“ he smiled back.    “Yeah, you know the day he was born I –” she stopped, her mind churning while she tried to remember the day her son came to this world and tell Kai the story. But the more she thought about it, the more it seemed as if her memories disappeared. “What has she done to me ?” she muttered to herself.    “What?“ he asked concerned.    “Seline.” she said quietly, tears filling her eyes. “I can’t – I can’t remember how Peter came into this world and the more I think about it the more it seems like my memory … evaporates or something. I never would’ve tried to kill myself. Why would I?! Why would I leave my son all alone ?!”    “You wouldn’t.“ he wrapped his arms around her tighter, rubbing gentle circles on her back to calm her down. And then it hit him – Seline was still mind controlling her.
