very basically my dumbass kept mixing up nigel and joe, because they look really similar, and as soon as susan mentioned seeing nigel on the beach that night, i was like there's something odd here. but then it became clear who had done it (and i think it was such genius writing) when ellie miller asked susan wright how her husband could have abused their own daughter in their house and she never knew. and susan just looks at her, says nothing and leaves
