Jason
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media

DEAD: S Class Coupe 💀 🇩🇪 ______________________________________ [2/27/19] Maybe Mercedes has heard my rants on their ridiculous model overlap, confusing names and a major Russian doll effect (they definitely didn’t and are notice sales numbers), but the S Class coupe and cabriolet will be killed off as soon as the next gen S Class arrives in a year or two! The S Class coupe came into the scene in 2015 and just got a refresh last year, but its lineage goes much further back. Before it was called the S Class coupe, it was called the CL Class (Which is why the CLS is the 4 door coupe version of the CL, which now is the S class coupe which is silly to still exist with the GT53 and GT63 “coupe” sedan things…. Confusing right ??). Along with the death of the S Class Coupe also is the death of the AMG V12 as all AMG 65 series will be killed off. 🔥[ACN Spec Sheet] The current sportyish version of the S Class coupe is the S63 with a 4.0L TwinTurbo V8 making 603HP and 664 lb-ft of torque hitting 60MPH in 3.4sec thanks to 4Matic+ AWD. 🔥 The S Class coupe also is very expensive… like way too expensive for loosing two doors, starting at around $130k, $170k for a S63 and north of $200k for the S65 and higher cabriolet trims. Sorry for anyone who buys one new as they will be trampled with insane depreciation. The next generation S Class is coming very soon and will be game changing! It will be radically new with MASSIVE touch screens inside per recent spy shots, and new design both styling wise and platform wise that will allow for electrification. ________________________________________ ACN EXTRA: YAY MERCEDES…. now kill off the hideous “coupe” SUV’s next. ________________________________________ - - #MercedesBenz #SL An #allcarnews post #V8 #V6 #Mercedes #SLK #S63 #roadster #S65 #german #Amg #carbon ||#powerful #performance #turbocharged #advanced #SupercarsRevamped #Supercar #HyperCar #ItsWhiteNoise #CarLifeStyle #MadWhips #003 #Carstagram #BlackList #AmazingCars247 https://www.instagram.com/p/BuZaK-cHsYY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1brrvdnhm9zxr

2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door First Look: Feeling Six-y
When the competition involves Porsche, Audi, and BMW, it is vital to fine-tune the mechanicals, upgrade tech features, and maintain a fresh appearance. Enter the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door, a luxury fastback that drives like an untamed sports car. While Mercedes is mum on details related to the V-8-powered 2022 GT63 and GT63 S 4-Door models, the brand is eager to share details about its six-cylinder 2022 GT43 and GT53 4-Doors, both of which maintain much the same styling as before. That said, the latter adds a new styling package option that gives the six-cylinder model a bit of flair from its V-8 stablemates.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe went on sale in 2019 and rather quickly became a finalist at our 2020 Car of the Year competition. During our rigorous testing, we commended the four-door sports car for its driving dynamics and forward-thinking technology. Nonetheless, the model’s many positive attributes could not overcome its punishingly harsh ride quality. Mercedes took notice and updated the suspension with new hardware in 2020.
Now the three-pointed star is completely overhauling the GT 4-Door’s damping system for 2022. A pair of continuously variable pressure-limited valves, located outside the damper, afford more precise adjustments to the damping force for different driving conditions and drive modes. One valve controls the rebound damping, the other controls the compression damping. Both work independently of each other and react to changing road surfaces rapidly. This technology reportedly delivers increased ride comfort and sportier driving dynamics.
Additionally, a suspension control unit analyzes data from the wheel path sensors and the car’s accelerator to adjust the damping force at each wheel in a matter of milliseconds to better suit the driving situation. By widening the gap between minimum and maximum damping force characteristics, AMG’s development engineers claim to have significantly increased the scope of sportiness and comfort, providing greater flexibility in map design.
A new Manufaktur Exclusive Edition for the GT53 4-Door adds the V-8 GT 4-Door’s exterior styling package to the six-cylinder sedan. The kit also adds high-gloss chrome exterior bits, as well as 21-inch wheels painted silver with a high-gloss finish.
Meanwhile, a new Night package adds dark chrome vertical slats to the grille and blacks out the AMG badge, Mercedes three-pointed star, and model designation, including the lettering on the fenders. Customers can now combine the AMG appearance package with the Carbon Fiber package. There are three newly added exterior paint colors for the AMG GT 4-Door lineup: Spectral Blue Metallic, Spectral Blue Magno, and Cashmere White Magno, the latter two of which feature a matte finish. A broader choice of wheels includes optional 21-inch forged wheels. Additionally, buyers can, upon request, order red-painted calipers for six-cylinder GT 4-Doors.
The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT43 and GT53 4-Doors further differentiate themselves from their 2021 counterparts courtesy of a new steering wheel design. The steering wheel has a sensor mat that detects if the driver has their hands on or off the wheel. If the sensor detects that the driver’s hands are not on the wheel for a certain amount of time, then a warning kicks on. Should the driver not respond to the warning and place their hands back on the wheel, the emergency brake assist will activate.
Other highlights of the new steering include haptic sensing in place of hard buttons, as well as reworked drive mode controls. For precise shifting, the paddle shifters are both repositioned and slightly bigger.
Inside, Mercedes expands the model’s upholstery options, while also adding an available anthracite trim that includes open-pore wood on the dashboard, door panels, and center console. The wood is further complemented by a silver surround. Mercedes also fits the 2022 GT53 with a three-across rear seat, as opposed to the previous two-position setup. As such, the big hatch is now capable of seating five individuals—as opposed to four—within its cabin.
Motivating both the 2022 GT43 and GT53 4-Doors is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a mild-hybrid system. The former pumps out 362-hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the latter model features the likes of an electric supercharger to produce a beefy 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, as is a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
Look for these refreshed, six-cylinder 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door models to go on sale before the end of the year, with the GT43 stickering for approximately $91,000 and the GT53 going for an estimated $101,000.

The Mercedes-AMG GT43 4-Door is almost fantastic
The Mercedes-AMG GT43 is worthy of the AMG name.
Jonathan Harper/Roadshow
When Mercedes-AMG launched the GT 4-Door Coupe in 2018, the US got two V8-powered GT63 models and a superb inline-6-powered GT53. Europe also got a cheaper, less-powerful GT43 that seemed like it wouldn’t make sense in the US. But for 2021 the GT43 is now available Stateside, and it feels like a proper AMG… mostly.
Like
Four-door coupe styling
Lovely chassis and ride quality
Don’t Like
Engine isn’t special enough
More powerful GT53 isn’t much pricier
On its own, the GT43’s powertrain is phenomenal. It’s the same turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with an EQ-Boost mild-hybrid system, like what you’ll find in the E450 and CLS450, with 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic is the only transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. Mercedes says the GT43 will hit 60 mph in a brisk 4.8 seconds, which is quicker than the E450 and matches the CLS450.
The GT53, meanwhile, adds an electric supercharger on top of that turbo I6. It makes 429 hp and 384 lb-ft, an increase of 67 hp and 15 lb-ft over the GT43, and the engine’s peak torque is available across a wider rev range. Mercedes says the GT53 will hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, almost half a second quicker than the GT43.
The GT43 certainly looks the part.
Jonathan Harper/Roadshow
Around town it’s tough to notice a difference between the 43 and 53 except for when you really floor it from a light or while merging onto the highway. But the GT43’s lack of an electric supercharger really becomes apparent when you get it on a curvy road. Coming out of corners the GT43 just doesn’t have enough punch. Even if I drop a gear or two and floor it, it lacks a lot of the 53’s slightly manic character. At least the 43 sounds great when equipped with the $1,850 variable performance exhaust.
Thankfully, the GT43’s handling makes up for the engine’s shortcomings. It continues AMG’s recent trend of offering satisfying electric power steering, and its turn-in and overall levels of feedback are just as sharp as the GT53. My test car has a $3,450 set of huge 21-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires (sized 275/35 up front and 315/30 in the back), which offer a massive amount of grip. The GT43 feels much more nimble and compact than its 4,530-pound curb weight and 199.2-inch length would suggest.
Even on these huge wheels the GT43’s ride is wonderful.
Jonathan Harper/Roadshow
Typically, you’d think 21-inch wheels would ruin the GT43’s ride, but that’s not the case. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The GT43 is super composed and comfortable, never getting unsettled or shuddery over even the roughest surfaces and potholes. The ride is noticeably better than that of the E-Class and CLS, and the GT43 comes standard with adjustable dampers.
The GT43 looks identical to the GT53, which is to say it looks excellent. My test car wears $720 Brilliant Blue metallic paint and has all the standard chrome trim intact, which looks great with the 21-inch forged wheels. (If it were my money, I’d go for the $3,950 matte version of this paint.) The six-cylinder GT 4-Doors have less aggressive front fascias than the GT63, and I actually prefer the subtler look. Its hatchback rear end makes it way more practical than a CLS- or E-Class, too.
The GT43’s interior has Mercedes’ ubiquitous dual-screen setup, a sweeping dashboard and a tall center console with two rows of touchscreen buttons. For 2021 the GT 4-Doors get Mercedes’ fantastic MBUX infotainment system, which brings a redesigned touchpad, a voice assistant, navigation, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This GT43’s combination of the $2,850 Auburn Brown leather and no-cost Grey Ash matte wood trim looks fantastic, and the interior’s design is sufficiently different from a regular E-Class. Despite the sloped roof, there’s a pretty great amount of headroom and legroom for regular-sized rear passengers. The rear seats are fixed, though, and the only way to get folding seatbacks is to spring for the $3,550 Executive Rear Seat package, which also adds three-zone climate control, heated and cooled rear cupholders, two rear USB ports, a touchscreen and wireless charging pad for the rear passengers.
The interior is shared with other GT 4-Door models.
Jonathan Harper/Roadshow
As with the styling and powertrain, the GT43 is identical to the GT53 in terms of feature content. Standard items include LED headlights, an active rear spoiler, heated front seats, MB-Tex upholstery, remote start and keyless entry, a power liftgate, a sunroof, ambient interior lighting, a surround-sound Burmester stereo system, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and automated emergency braking.
My GT43 has $17,045 in options for a sticker price of $107,995, and it still isn’t fully loaded. Key additions are the $450 ventilated front seats, $2,100 fixed panoramic sunroof, $500 360-degree camera, the must-have $400 drive mode buttons on the steering wheel, a $350 augmented-reality navigation function and the $1,950 Driver Assistance package that adds features like adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, lane-keeping assist and rear cross-traffic alert. If it were my money I’d also add the $1,320 massaging front seats, $4,550 3D sound system, $1,100 head-up display and $1,100 Acoustic Comfort package to really up the luxury factor.
At $90,950 to start (including $1,050 for destination) the GT43 is $10,050 cheaper than the GT53, which isn’t a ton of money in the grand scheme of things — look how easy it is to add almost double that in options. Then there’s the issue of the 2021 CLS53 AMG, which has a starting price of $82,600 and gets the AMG-fettled engine that the GT43 lacks. Or at least it did; the AMG CLS53 is being discontinued for 2022, leaving only the much cheaper CLS450, giving the GT43 some breathing room.
The real reason the GT43 exists in America is so AMG has a direct competitor to the base Porsche Panamera 4, as the GT53 goes against the Panamera 4S. But with the Panamera 4 costing $93,150 and the 4S starting at $106,350, the Porsches have a bigger price difference between them, plus the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 is already $4,600 more expensive than the rear-wheel-drive version. They also have different engines, standard features and driving characteristics, and the Panamera 4 makes a better case for itself.
After spending a week with the GT43, it still doesn’t make a lot of sense. That doesn’t mean that it’s not incredible to look at, excellent to drive and nice to be inside, though. Even with this lowly powertrain, the GT43 feels worthy of the AMG name. It’s more than enough car for people that want the GT look and feel without a mega-high price or a rowdier demeanor. But if you really enjoy driving, the GT53 is well worth the extra cost.

New Armytrix Downpipes for Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe Available
Armytrix has recently introduced its all-new Valvetronic Exhaust for the Mercedes-AMG GT53 4-Door Coupe. This system was designed to go beyond any factory restrictions to truly unleash the true sound and potential power of the luxury and sporty daily driver. But Armytrix did not just stop there; the brand also released four different downpipe options for the AMG model to truly take it to the next level. Choose from a High-Flow Performance De-Catted Downpipe w/ Cat Simulator or a Sport Cat Pipe w/200 CPSI Catalytic Converter – both of which are also available in a Ceramic Coated variant.
For those looking to enhance their GT53 4-Door Coupe, adding the Armytrix exhaust system and accompanying parts will increase power, reduce weight, and improve the overall sound. This precision-made performance system delivers more power, especially in the low- and mid-rev range, and the effect on the sound is significant, adding a deep resonant sporty sound, while still neutralizing those annoying frequencies in the most critical rpm range.

Highs Awesome power and performance, sexy, swoopy design, futuristic interior.
Lows Complicated infotainment controls, much more expensive than an AMG E53, less cargo space than a Porsche Panamera.
Verdict An inspired combination of design, performance, and practicality.
Overview
All new just last year, the scintillating 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT53 and GT63 are the German brand's latest versions of a "four-door coupe." Although its name seems to imply that these sexy four-door, four-seat hatchback sedans are based on the GT coupe, Mercedes has actually used the bones of the E-class. The cars' high-performance hardware and powerful engines, however, are pure AMG. All GT four-doors get all-wheel drive, electronically adjustable dampers, sport seats, and big horsepower, while the GT63 and GT63 S models pack twin-turbo V-8s for neck-snapping acceleration.
What's New for 2020?
Since the AMG GT53, GT63, and GT63 S were all-new models for 2019, not much has changed for 2020. However, Mercedes has made AMG illuminated doorsills standard on the GT53 and the AMG performance exhaust standard on the GT63. There's also a new carbon-fiber roof option on the GT63 S and a new fixed panoramic roof option for all three variants.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
GT53: $100,945
GT63: $141,245
GT63 S: $162,195
Although there isn't a dud in this family of fast four-door hatchbacks, the most potent GT63 S model delivers the comfort and practicality of a family-friendly hatchback sedan with the intense power and performance of a supercar. AMG cranks up its twin-turbocharged V-8 to 630 horsepower, which drops its claimed zero-to-60 mph time to just 3.1 seconds and adds larger 20-inch wheels and tires for additional grip. It's also the only variant to feature a standard Drift Mode within its all-wheel-drive system. Just push the button, and the GT63 S becomes rear-wheel drive for more spirited track driving and high-school-style burnouts and power slides.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Under the hood of the 2020 GT53 is a snarling inline-six-cylinder engine that features a supercharger, a turbocharger, an intercooler, and a small electric motor. From a stop, the electric motor and supercharger fill in the brief lapse before the turbo is fully committed. The 3.0-liter, which packs a combined 429 horsepower, snaps necks whenever you touch the accelerator. In our testing of the GT53, which features a conventional nine-speed automatic transmission, accelerated to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and its sport-tuned suspension delivers flat, responsive cornering and sports-car levels of grip. The GT63 and GT63 S are powered by a thunderous 4.0-liter V-8. The engine is a technological tour de force with dry-sump oiling, direct injection, and two turbochargers mounted in its V. It's rated to produce 577 horsepower in the GT63, but it's cranked up to 630 horsepower in the GT63 S. These models also get a dual-clutch nine-speed automatic transmission and air suspension. AMG says the GT63 hits 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, while in our testing, the GT63 S needed just 2.9 seconds. That's as quick as a Porsche Panamera Turbo.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
With such extreme performance, it's no surprise the Mercedes-AMG GT53 and GT63 are thirsty, but their EPA fuel-economy estimates aren't as dire as you might expect. The GT53 model is rated 19/24 mpg city/highway. Those numbers drop to 15/20 mpg for the more powerful GT63 model with a V-8. For comparison, the 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo, which is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 with 550 horsepower, is rated 18/25 mpg city/highway.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
While much of the 2020 GT coupe's interior is shared with the other four-door coupe from Mercedes, the CLS, the large console between its seats appears to have been pulled from the GT sports car. It's a bit intrusive but makes for a sporty cockpit feel. The interior design overall is futuristic and visually exciting, but some of its ergonomics can take some getting used to. This is also a four-seater, which may be an issue for some families. Aggressively bolstered sport seats are standard and comfortable, while a fat and flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminum trim, and digital gauge cluster fit the sedan's high-performance mission. Build quality is exceptional, and the materials are in line with AMG's pricing. This is a hatchback, and the GT coupe's rear seats do fold down to increase cargo space. With its rear seats in use, there's 12.7 cubic feet of space. That's plenty for most, but the Porsche Panamera offers more.
