Keep Thinking About Gale x Single Mom!Tav
Tumblr media
A/N: Shout-out to @leighsartworks216 for letting me ramble to them about it. I just need to get all this stuff rattling around in my brain out.
I know, I know, Gale repeatedly says he's not father material, but have you considered that I want him to be a dad anyway and it's cute
So in my brain this single mom is named Gwen (Guinevere); a half-elf, wild magic sorceress
She came from a fairly well to do family, married a handsome and acceptably rich merchant and soon had a child on the way
Problems came when she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, who also happened to be a teifling
Seen as a bad omen, both her family and husband wanted her to give up the child, she refused causing her husband to leave her and her family to reject her
She didn't let that stop her though and soon she found a new home for her and Clara
Over the next eight years she worked hard to build a life for herself and make sure Clara never doubted for a moment she was loved
Gwen knew the world would be hard on her girl, so she made a point to build up her confidence and teach her it's never wrong to fight back when people are treating you unfairly; you can't take that shit lying down
Blunt and a bit intense, Gwen has seen and done plenty of shit and thought she finally had a handle on her life; and then she got kidnapped by illithids
Still haven't played the game, so I can't give a play by play of every interaction, but I do know early game she would be a bit distracted
Obviously her first goal is to figure out if her daughter is okay so it frankly is the only thing on her mind until she gets her hand on a sending scroll or something like it
Only after does she confirm that Clara is safe and with people she trusts can she focus on the task at hand
Takes a liking to Gale basically from the word go; he's respectful, he know hows to cook, he keeps making comments about his tongue, there is only so much a woman can handle
Gods know it has been a while since she's gotten laid
He starts rambling about magic and she can't not fuck him
Gale is hesitant at first because first the orb, second Gwen has made no secret she had a child and Gale doesn't see himself as father material, and three because he does really, really like her and doesn't want to make promises he can't keep
I'd say they're able to meet Clara before they head come to Baldur's Gate so Gale and the rest can meet her earlier; and to give Gwen some peace of mind
Clara is a very curious and headstrong, both of which Gale can appreciate; he can see why Gwen was so determined to get back to her, which only makes him admire her more
Also, quick aside about the rest of the companions; Wyll and Karlach would be ready to baby sit at any given moment, Lae'zel admires the child's fighting spirit and absolutely gifted her a sword, Shadowheart enjoys her more mischievous tendencies, and Astarion is classic wine aunt who hates all kids except Clara (he's been helping her stage of coup of the swing set)
Eventually feelings are confessed between Gale and Gwen leading to a proper relationship (and Gwen actually getting laid)
Gwen is absolutely not having it with him trying to blow himself up or becoming a god
Mystra: You must destroy yourself and the orb. Gale: Alright, let me ask Gwen. Mystra: No, that's not--. Gale: She said no.
Once everything is said and done, I'm going back and forth on if they would settle in Waterdeep
Clara has friends and it would be hard to ask her to leave, but I think Gale could compromise and get a position at a different magical university closer by
Either way, Gale settles into the domestic life rather nicely and dives head first into being the best father to Clara he can be
He absolutely devours every parenting book he can get his hands on, only to throw it all out the window once he's actually in it; Gwen did warn him, but old habits and all that
Probably waits a little longer to actually get married to see how they all function as a family together first; plus he wants to properly ask Clara if she's okay with him marrying her mother
I've got other random thoughts, but that about covers it for now, if you want to know more, feel free to drop an ask! I'm up for anything.

“May God… grant you likewise the gift of surpassing in knightly excellence all the knights living today. And much of your fate I know.”
The Red and White Knight is an Interactive Fiction heavily based on Medieval Arthurian Literature, especially the Vulgate Cycle, where you play as Lancelot Du Lac from his beginnings as a knight to his death
Warnings: This story will contain violence, blood, a cavalier treatment of death and murder, kidnapping, drugging, possible suicide, mentions of incest, and references to sexual assault (I swear this game isn’t supposed to be that dark, the literature just has a lot of questionable things in it)

Summary
“Then there appeared the White Knight who was bearing the white shield with the black band...”
Your home under the water with your mother and her companions is all you’ve ever known, but it was not the life you saw for yourself. You knew your calling lied outside the fairy realm. You have just left you home and your mother with only the shining white armor, horse and shield she gifted you, to become a Knight of the Round Table at Camelot.
The life of a Knight of the Round Table is not an easy one though. In a land moving in and out of the fairy realm, time and morality do not work the same, and magic and death are imbedded in Camelot’s very foundation. This is not made easier with Arthur’s constant wars against human and fairy alike.
You may not know your name yet, but you know Camelot’s fate is tied to yours.
Features
Play as Lancelot Du Lac in King Arthur’s court
Customize Lancelot - Gender, Pronouns, appearance, personality
Play as gay, straight, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, aromantic, and/or polyamorous
Meet and bond with the Knights of the Round table and avert or play through their tragedies
Romance your fellow knights, the queen, or mischievous fairies (7 romance options- 2 Female, 2 Male, 2 Non-Binary, 1 Gender selectable)
Go on quests from medieval stories and explore the world of Arthurian Europe
Become the greatest knight of the Round Table and a powerful member of Arthur’s court
Play out the tragedy of Camelot or defy fate
Romances
Queen Guinevere of Camelot (She/Her)
“Nor was he wrong to admire no other woman as he did the queen, for she was sovereign of all women and the very font of beauty.”
Arthur’s young and ambitious wife. You have only just met her and, just like everyone else, you’re entranced. Guinevere seems taken with you as well, given how eagerly she wants you to be her champion. In spite of only recently rising to the throne, Guinevere is already positioning herself as the true ruler of Camelot, with Arthur constantly off on conquests. Will you help her secure her power or remain loyal to the king? And why do you feel such a strong need to be around her?
King Arthur of Camelot (He/Him)
"King Arthur," he said, "God keep you Everyone bears witness... the best of kings, the most true and powerful, the one who helps the helpless and, counsels, aids and supports them."
The current king of Logres and the surrounding lands. He is said to be a greater king than his ancestors, chosen by Merlin himself, and is seeking to build a strong knighthood to protect his kingdom. He has taken an interest in you as a powerful knight for his Round Table. While the Round Table has been growing back in Camelot, Arthur has been constantly fighting his conquests, leaving his new wife and knights in charge. With his unruly and violent knights left to their own devices and his distance from the throne, public outcry against him has been growing. Will you remain loyal to Arthur or subvert his rule?
Sir Gawain of Orkney (He/They)
“Sir Gawain was a very fine knight of great bearing and was very loyal toward his lord all the days of his life. He was neither spiteful nor jealous; on the contrary, he was more courteous than any knight at the court.”
The beloved nephew and heir to King Arthur, as well as Camelot’s greatest knight... at least until your arrival. Despite this, Gawain has already become your greatest advocate in Camelot and feels a kinship with you. Gawain is a popular knight at court, being fun-loving, brave, loyal, and charming, there is no greater knight to quest with. He is a formidable foe though, who is violently loyal to his friends and especially his siblings. Will your close bond grow stronger, or will fate force you against him?
King Galehaut of Far Isles (He/Him) (M/NB Exclusive)
“My lord I have seen Galehaut. He is a good half-foot taller than any other knight known, is better loved by his people than any other lord in the world, and has conquered more than anyone else of his age.”
King Arthur’s most recent enemy, and certainly his most challenging. Galehaut is a half-giant king of a distant land, and so quickly he has already conquered so much of Arthur’s land. A popular and powerful half-giant, Galehaut genuinely wants what’s best for Britain. He seems impressed by you though and willing to hear you out as you plead for Arthur. Can you be what is needed to solve this war, and maybe build a relationship with this powerful half-giant?
Queen Morgan Le Fay of Avalon (She/Her) (F/NB Exclusive)
“By the might of Morgan Le Fay that in my mansion dwelleth, And by Cunning of lore and crafts well learned. The magic arts of Merlin she many hath mastered... And Morgan the Goddess is therefore now her name.”
The King’s half-sister and the Queen of Avalon. You can never quite tell what her relationship with the king is, going from his most trusted confidant to his greatest foe, seemingly on a whim. In spite of being born mostly human, Morgan le Fay has embraced the ways of the fair folk, and especially enjoys messing with her brother’s knights. You seem to be a favorite of hers to torment and kidnap. Can these bizarre meetings create a deeper connection between you to, or are you doomed to torment?
Sir Agravaine of Orkney (F/M Gender Selectable)
“Agravaine was without pity or love and had no good qualities, save for his beauty, his chivalry, and his quick tongue.”
The eldest of Gawain’s younger siblings and certainly one of the least liked knights at court. Agravaine may be beautiful and clever, but their pride and bitterness often get in the way of their attempts at knightlihood. In spite of this, they deeply love their siblings… except Gaheris for some reason. And even though you’ve just arrived at court, they’ve already decided they hate you in particular. Can you find a way through their angry and cruel exterior?
Mage Sybil of Far Isles (They/Them)
“She knew nothing of envy or hate, and from her rosy lips came never an evil word. One never saw her ill-tempered, but she always passed her days in pleasant joy.”
You childhood friend during your life in the lake. Sybil is the child of one of your mother’s fairy companions who has known you your whole life. They have been a bright spot in your blue days and have been your partner in crime on many questionable adventures. You thought you would never see them again when they left for their home in the Far Isles, but they have recently taken a mentorship with Morgan le Fay. Will you be able to rekindle your friendship or even build it into something more? And how do you explain to them that kidnapping is not a fun game for you, no matter what Morgan says?
Poly Routes
Guinevere and Arthur
Gawain and Guinevere
Guinevere and Morgan
Morgan and Sybil
Gawain and Galehaut
Other Major Characters
Lady Vivian du Lac (She/Her) - The Lady of the Lake in Gaul and your adoptive mother. While her means of “adopting” you were certainly sketchy, she has been nothing but a loving and indulgent parent to you. While she has let you go out on your own, that doesn’t mean she won’t give you aid on your quests when you need it. Now if only she would stop sending her companions to check on you.
Lady Nimue of the Lake (She/Her) - The Lady of the Lake in Britain and the king’s new advisor. No one talks about what happened to Merlin, the kings old advisor, but everyone whispers that Nimue had something to due with his disappearance. She seems to know of your fate, but has yet to make a move for or against you. She is waiting to see who you become.
Sir Mordred of Orkney (He/Him) - The youngest of the Orkney siblings and Gawain and Agravaine’s favorite. Younger than Gawain by 15 years, Mordred comes to Camelot and becomes your squire after you’ve long been a knight. A sweet and talented kid, you two will soon learn the truth of their past. Will you try to help Mordred or abandon them to their fate?
Sir Galahad of Corbenic (F/M/NB Gender Selectable) - A youth who arrives in Camelot long after you have settled in, only a year after Mordred’s arrival. This child feels familiar to you, though you don’t yet know why. Will you be able to build a relationship with the child you never knew you had, and can you save Galahad from their fate?
Sir Percival La Sauvage (She/They) - A Fair Unknown who arrives in Camelot the same time as Mordred. She is a hopeful, if rather naive, knight who merely wishes to be the best knight they can. She is eager to learn from you and hopes to follow in your stead. Will you be a worthy mentor or will your paths diverge?

Book Review 59 – Spear by Nicola Griffith
Tumblr media
So after loudly complaining about this year’s Hugo nominations enough, it was recommended I try using the World Fantasy Awards shortlist as a reading list instead. Spear is the first result of that – I’d never heard of either it or Griffith as an author before, but the library helpfully had a copy with only a three-week hold. It was, well – unevenly paced and characterized, often beautifully written, a setting I’ve got an enduring fondness for, a bunch of things. But at the very least I’m not confused or annoyed that anyone would nominate this for a ‘best novel of the year’ award, so beating the Hugo’s!
The book’s Arthuriana, of a mythological and Early Medieval type. Specifically, it’s a queer retelling of the story of Sir Percival (Peretur here, the book makes an attempt to use Welsh names for most. Artos and Cei and so on) intermixed with celtic mythology (the Four Treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann are stolen to be the Grail, Excalibur, the Stone the sword was in, and Peretur’s Spear). Also Peretur is a) a demigod raised from birth on soup and water drunk out of the Grail/Cauldron and b) a lesbian. The book follows her childhood, raised in the wilderness with only her mother and wildlife for company, how she eventually leaves her behind to fufil a dream of becoming one of the king’s companions, and the trials she undergoes to become accepted by them. The second half of the book then follows her falling in love with Nimune, accidentally breaking the geas that was hiding her mother and the cauldron from her father (a wrathful Tuatha Dé) the organizing of the grail quest and her, Lancelot, and Nimune going to kill her dad and retrieve the grail/cauldron. And then bury it away after lying to everyone that the queen had had a sip from it and wouldn’t be infertile anymore. Having thus doomed the kingdom, they set about enjoying their lives together.
So, queer early medieval Arthuriana retelling. Which on reflection probably seems like less of a natural/obvious combination to people who spend less time on tumblr than I do. The ‘Early Medieval’ part of that seems pretty carefully researched, and the book takes great joy in describing everyone’s panoply, situating the politics in a very specific post-Roman collapse politics and geography, and so on. In that sense reminds of Bernard Cromwell’s take on a ‘historicall’ Arthur in the same era (which I read far too young because my father had just left them lying around the house and still inform my default view of the genre.) The queerness is just presented to be taken as a given more than part of the actual plot – being a crossdressing lesbian causes Peretur exactly zero problems at any point, and Arthur/Lancelot/Guinevere are a loving polycule so actually it’s a net reduction in sexuality-related drama compared to the usual.
The basic conceit aside, the most striking thing about the book is easily the prose. It’s written in a kind of elevated, mythological or capital-R Romantic voice. There are passages that are legitimately quite beautiful, and just overall does a lot to sell the story as somewhere between chivalric romance and myth.
Otherwise – I pretty much adored the first half the book, covering our hero’s childhood and attempts to build a reputation that will earn her acceptance from the king’s court and a place at the round table. Peretur’s naivete and utter lack of understanding of politics form a nice contrast with her being, well, a superhuman demigod with magical wild empathy skills when it comes to everything else. The second half, on the other hand – I mean it just tries to pack in way too many plot points and too much lore in not nearly enough page count. The effect – one long procession of character revelations and things happening without preamble or fallout – fits the whole mythic style but, like, not in a good way.
Also since the whole happy ending is built around a central romance it’d help a lot if Nimune felt like more or a character and less of an exposition fairy. Peretur legitimately had more chemistry with Angharad-the-innkeepers-daughter from the second act. Also since it was how the book ended, the big choice to hide away the cauldron/grail and make sure neither king nor queen nor anyone else ever drinks from it is presented as this, like, considered and moral decision without ever touching on any of the massive hypocrisy inherent in it for ms. ‘grew up drinking from it every meal. But it’d corrupt and drive insane anyone else who did. For sure.’ was just deeply irksome to me.
Still, not at all a bad read. Maybe a bit style over substance, but it’s a good style and worn well.

Call of Duty OC: Isobel “Medusa” Williams
Tumblr media
When she enlisted in the United States Army at eighteen, the Combat Exclusion Policy had yet to be lifted, so she could not follow in her father’s footsteps. Instead, Isobel followed in her grandfather’s footsteps and became one of the best attack helicopter pilots the Army produced. She was recruited to Task Force 141 by Captain John Price at the request of Kate Laswell.

Relationship with parents: Isobel adores her father. He’s her hero. She wanted to grow up and be tough and fierce just like him when she was a kid. Her relationship with her mother is a little strained at times. She loves her mom very much, but being raised by the hot-headed Italian made things a little interesting, especially when Isobel was trying to prove her independence while Aoife was running around being a little shit. Relationship with sibling: Isobel and Aoife fought like cats and dogs when they were younger. They were three years apart but so close in personality. Poor Colin had to deal with three Italian-tempered women running around his house, causing chaos. Isobel loves Aoife with all her heart, but they still have the typical sister relationship. They get on each other’s nerves but would kill to protect each other.
Extended Family These people are not related to her, but she grew up with them and views them as family:
“Uncle” Robert “Badger” Tully, US Army Ranger (retired)
“Uncle” Jack “Omaha” Wagner, US Army Ranger (retired)

Strong-willed and dutiful - Isobel’s integrity is everything to her, portraying it in her words and actions. She works hard and stays focused with patience and determination, which others admire.
Responsible - Her word is her promise, and promises mean everything to Isobel. She is loyal to a fault.
Jack-of-all-trades - Isobel is a repository for a vast wealth of knowledge. She learns quickly and can utilize what she’s learned at the drop of a hat.
Compassionate - She’s a bleeding heart for those in need, willing to throw herself into the line of fire to protect an innocent person without a second thought.
Intelligent - Isobel is an avid reader, consuming whatever she can get her hands on. Had she pursued college, she would have more than likely gone on to receive a Ph.D. in whatever subject she’d chosen to study. Safe to say, the woman is borderline genius.
When someone first meets her, Isobel can come across as stoic and withdrawn. It takes some prying, but eventually, she will open up to those willing to try to be her friend.
She goes into a certain mindset when in the heat of battle. She looks like she could kill you and probably will kill you.
Permanent case of resting bitch face

TRIVIA
Is obsessed with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
She has a ridiculous amount of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings lore memorized and can recall it anytime.
She has a replica of Darth Vader’s lightsaber, Aragorn’s sword Andúril, Legolas’s dual blades, and Arwen’s blade Hadhafang in storage at her parents’ place
Loves to read; her book collection is ridiculous. Isobel isn’t picky about what genre she reads, either.
She was caught reading a few times when she flew helicopters and was stuck on standby.
One of her favorite things to do in her downtime is go to used and new bookstores and browse for hours.
In her senior year of high school, she applied to Yale, Brown, and Columbia to keep her parents happy. She was accepted into all three but declined and enlisted in the military instead.
She married Lucas Greer (US Army Paratrooper, deceased) when she was nineteen. Their marriage was rough, and they legally separated when she was 27. The divorce was finalized in 2019 when she was 28.
She stays in touch with Lucas’s parents every once in a while.
The end of the marriage to their son was rough, but despite that, Isobel loved her in-laws. They were nothing but kind to her through everything that happened.
Covers her prominent scars with tattoos, but she’s also obsessed with tattoos. She currently has five, the biggest of which is her partial back piece.
Has a lovely singing voice, but her party trick is her ability to scream like Courtney LaPlante.
BACKGROUND
Born to a mother who served in the US Army as a nurse and a father who held the record for the most kills under any Army Ranger’s belt until he retired, Isobel grew up in a military household. When she was younger, she wanted to rebel against her parents and become a lawyer, but she always idolized her parents and eventually grew out of her lawyer phase.
Growing up, Isobel spent every second she could with her father when he was home. Colin deployed a lot, so the man treasured each moment he could be with his family. He took Isobel (and her younger sister once she was old enough) on every hunting trip, using the time to teach her how to shoot. He also taught her the Ranger Way. By the time Isobel was in high school, she was an expert in tracking, survival, and evasion. If needed, she could survive off the land for an indefinite amount of time, given the right tools.
Isobel had a somewhat normal high school experience. Her senior year, she was the Track & Field team's captain, bringing her team the gold for the 200 and 400-meter sprint at the State Championship and anchoring the relay team to take home first place. Besides participating in sports, Isobel was the captain of the debate team and a member of the National Honor Society.
Thanks partly to her well-rounded high school career, Isobel had her pick of colleges to choose from…but that was the opposite of what she wanted. On the day of her eighteenth birthday, she marched down to the nearest Army recruiter and enlisted.
She made it through Basic Training with flying colors, earning herself an Expert Marksmanship badge. Sadly, she couldn’t pursue her dream of becoming an Army Ranger like her father, so she became an attack helicopter pilot instead.
Upon graduating from Warrant Officer Candidate School and Warrant Officer Pilot School and flight training, Isobel found herself a fully-fledged AH-64D/E (Apache Longbow/Guardian) pilot with the callsign “Medusa.” Around this time, she also met her future husband Lucas Greer. He was a dashing paratrooper, and their romance was a whirlwind. Within three months, they were married. Things were blissful before the deployments started, but during their second deployment, Lucas began getting abusive.
The marriage continued to grow more and more toxic, and eventually, friends and family began to take notice. One in particular was Hannah “Sparrow” Clayton, Isobel’s best friend. During this time, Sparrow had an accident climbing K2 in Asia. The night Isobel got the call saying Sparrow had disappeared was the straw that broke the camel’s back, immediately filling for legal separation when Sparrow woke up from her coma.
By 2019, twenty-eight-year-old Isobel was legally divorced and happier than she had felt in years. She completed another two tours before being shot down by an enemy RPG after she and her gunner were scrambled to deal with the aftermath of the 2021 Hamid Karzai International Airport bombing, which landed her at Walter Reed Medical Center.
Isobel had served her country for twelve years, facing the prospect of being medically separated from the US Army or stuck behind a desk for the rest of her career. That’s when Laswell sent the uncut footage of the helicopter crash to Captain John Price, informing him that she was recruiting Isobel to Task Force 141.
Price arrived at the hospital and officially recruited Isobel on Laswell’s behalf. Isobel spent six months with TF141 before the Los Almas and Chicago events transpired. After proving her mettle, Price pulled some strings and pushed some paper to have Isobel officially become a member of the British Armed Forces to go through the SAS selection process.
After passing the grueling training, she came out the other side a member of the British SAS and a full-time member of Task Force 141.

Here are my top 10 favorites - in no order - no, I lied. The first 4 are my all-time favorite; the remaining 6 round it out.
Desire & Decorum - Honestly, this is probably the one that I liked - as is - the most. PB did a lovely job with this, and while Book 3 didn't rock my world, it wasn't horrible. It's been too long since I replayed this.
Open Heart - I was late to the OH train. I thought it looked so Grey's Anatomy (and it was in many ways) that I had no interested. Well, that changed, lol. Book 1 was wonderful, and I did not hate Book 2... Book 3 was a hate crime... but it still had its moments, and it's where I fell for Tobias Carrick, so I'm giving a tiny pass. The best part of this story? The characters - main and supporting - were all so good and great canvasses for creators to build on.
Crimes of Passion - I put off reading 1 for so long (foolish), and how I loved it! Well written, arguably the best LI in Choices history, a badass MC, great storyline... freaking loved it. 2 was meh, but not totally dreadful, so it did not ruin it for me.
Wake the Dead - Another story I had no intention of reading (was not a zombie girl!) and became obsessed with. The story went off track a little, and the ending was rushed, but overall a solid story with great characters.
A Very Scandalous Proposal - Not terribly popular, but I really enjoyed this. Simon/Ava were wonderful LIs, but Nigel was one of the best BFFs in the Choices catalog. I really enjoyed this.
A Courtesan of Rome - Another I wasn't going to play (notice a trend here), and I simply loved it.
The Unexpected Heiress - This is such an underrated Choices story. I loved the MC and her late sister. Strong, intelligent women who did not take second place to their LIs and centered on sisterly love. Loved it.
Guinevere - Sure, there were historical inaccuracies and such (I expect these things), but it was a great take on the Arthurian legend. Very well-written and compelling romance.
The Royal Romance 1 and 2 - This was my intro to Choices - so it will always have a special place in my heart. A great escapist story with some top-tier LIs. I just wish we could have gone back to NY lol
The Freshman Series (except the Junior) I love this story... It's simple, yet it's not. This is when PB still did multiple LIs with unique storylines. It was a sweet throwback - but the Junior was just dreadful. lol
There are some stories I think may end up on this list, but I have not gotten to read them yet (such as Veil of Secrets, Laws of Attraction, maybe It Lives? But I'm going with what I've read so far! 😊

Who do you like more, Eva Green's Morgana or Katie McGrath's? 🙆
Thank you for the ask! @the-king-and-the-druidess
I have been pondering this myself for a few days now, especiallg with all the camelot x merlin shenanigans happening in my asks.
I like the Morgans I’ve seen so far. They all have qualities that make them the best in different categories.
Most accurate backstory and relationshit with merlin - Excalibur 1981 Morgana (Helen Mirren)
Best in becoming "loosest woman to ever live” - Starz Camelot Morgan (Eva Green)
Best in politics - Eva Green
Best sister/adversary to Arthur - for now Katie Mcgrath but I honestly think the Morgana from Mists of Avalon wins this even though I havent seen it.
Most compelling and logical backstory/reasons for war- Katie Mcgrath (coz her story deals with racial persecution and not just the "women=bad” narrative)
Best in fun shenanigans - Katie Mcgrath.
Katie’s is my fave adaptation coz she got to do all the really fun morgana stuff (minus the sex). Fun traditional Morgana stuff like:
Being really into fabrics
Loving apples
Necromancy
Healing/caretaker
Benevolent and smart
Loving Mordred
Acted as counsel to arthur for a time
Chasing after Merlin hungry for his knowledge, trust and also magic (first honestly then eventually in order to spurn him)
Sullying Guinevere’s honor/revealing gwencelot to arthur
Torturing and the unjust imprisonment of Guinevere and the knights for little reason
Loads of court intrigue
Takeover camelot more than once
Use old crone persona
Use birds for her plans
Healing people just to torture them again
Employinh other/younger girls to seduce knights and spy for her.
Build a community of loyalists sympathetic to her
Playing with Lancelot in a shtty manner
Taunting Gwaine
Having a lot of familiar arthurian allies working with her like morgause, agravaine and mordred
That self-righteousness and feminine fury
Her plans keep getting foiled so she comes up with even better more convuluted plans
Virtually unkillable (until that cop-out execution at the end of DotD)
Like i said before, i appreciate how they jampacked what little i know of legendary morgana into bbc’s adaptation.
Though i dont think this next part is faithful to traditional arthurian morgana, the tyranny part was a good bonus for me coz it’s very accurate to what radicalism/insurgency looks like irl. Plus with BBC Merlin’s premise, it really really works.
Imho The magic ban/persecution actually gave katie’s morgan le fay character more depth coz she now had more solid justification for the awful things that she does...compared to in the legends where it’s basically “morgan le fay retaliating really badly or exacting her sadistic brand of justice when she did not get what she wanted or when she was slighted.”
Also.... I just appreciate the dualistic nature of Katie’s Morgana the most. Katie played her hatred and rage with so much humanity, pain, loneliness, desperation and sadness. Hers is one of the coolest acting performances I have ever seen. (s5 especially)
Tbf tho she had been blessed with 5 seasons to really truly embody the essence of morgana from the legends (except all the sex and being an actual mom). Eva green was also good at this but with only one season given to her, eva green didnt get to play around as much as katie did.
The only thing that was missing was really katie’s morgana taking arthur’s body to avalon. (Mists!Morgana wins this one).

Guinevere Ashe job tier list
Tumblr media
Late to the party probably, but finally made one!
Gwen has always been a fast learner, though tends more towards 'jack of all trades' than a master of everything.
She started off a lancer and later began studying conjury after the Calamity. Months before the beginning of 2.0/ARR she met X'rhun, who offered to train her as a red mage once she had a working grasp of thaumaturgy. She set off for Ul'dah without a second thought.
Red mage training consisted of equal parts swordwork and magic studies, which she threw herself into whole-heartedly. Having years of martial combat experience and a solid groundwork of both schools of magic to build on allowed her to quickly grasp and excel at all aspects of Red Mage combat.
The footwork and mobility of dragoons and dancers is easily blended into her mixed combat style, and she weaves all of them together in combat.
Haurchefant's death shook Gwen so much that she temporarily lost her ability to work healing artes, even losing some of her proficiency with offensive white magic spells. Gwen studied with Y'shtola and E-Sumi-Yan to overcome her mental block and regain her skills, and in the process was granted a white mage's soul stone from Raya-O-Senna. She valued how much the in-depth study had broadened her understanding of magic as a whole, and was inspired to similarly study thaumaturgy which lead to her acquiring a black mage's soul stone as well.
Arcane magic was more slow-going, but lessons with Alphinaud have slowly improved her understanding the two sides of summoning magics.
She trained as a Dark Knight when she realized the Scions lacked any kind of heavy-armored front man (prior to ShB) and so studied and trained hard so she could fill in the role herself whenever needed. Her Dark Knight skills don't quite intertwine with her preferred combat tactics as well as other classes, but rather provide her an opportunity to reexamine her strategies and weaknesses through a new combat style.
Botany was a matter of survival, both as a job and a means of feeding herself. Tailoring, alchemy, and wood- and leatherworking similarly came about out of necessity for treating her own hurts and taking care of her gear and home. She still maintains her own gear as best she can, but has no problem entrusting it to experts for repairs or new pieces. Fiddling around with the various forms of smithing has allowed her to better identify weak points in armor, which is useful, but the crafts themselves don't hold a great deal of interest for her.
Fishing is something she's only come to enjoy recently, mostly due to Ardbert's influence. I still isn't her favorite way to pass the time, but she's come to better appreciate the chance to slow down and stop.
Make your own tier list here!

I have come to the decision that during the time in the abbey, when things are at their best ( they have Galahad and now Nimue) Elaine and Lancelot talk into the wee hours of the morning, or when they are walking down the road together, of just existing in the mundane. they talk so often. they fight, they laugh. they are just normally living with one another.
while their given life experiences have not been the best, i think its so important that they have someone who has had it equally as bad ( and with shared trauma) to just talk to. They don't always agree either, but they stuck together so long because they can come to a decent understanding of views and morals in progress. They still are growing as people, after all, both achieving a new kind of independence within the Abbey. It is a marriage story because they are embracing the good and the bad of the human condition, and they are figuring out how to work together through it all as partners and as friends.
but I also think that when the conversations turn to people, Elaine has heard Lance talk about Arthur and Guinevere extensively, but I think she thinks they are just one person: Jenny. Jenny is the wife. Jenny compared to conversations about Lance's other most important person, Galehaut, does not seem even remotely real to Elaine.
She likes stories about Galehaut. he seems kind. Its fairly obvious to her that Lancelot loves him and this just makes her happy because talking about his time with this man is always positive-- Elaine has never had that kind of relationship with anyone. its all very much like a fairy tale to her. So she likes to hear about it.
Elaine knows that he will have to go back to Jenny at some point. i don't think she expected Lancelot to stay as long as he did ( or for Nimue to be born). Her relationship with him is very skewed and distorted because of her life in Corbenic, its cult, and her imprisonment in the flooding cell.
I just think a lot about Elaine happily building a life with Lancelot and treasuring it not because its larger than life, but because its imperfect and full of struggles. They are poor and living off of charity. Elaine is the main monetary provider because of Lance's broken back. They have two children that they are learning how to coparent.
Its all very normal and mundane, but it is a Dream for Elaine because she came from a place bordering on the Otherworld. She came from a place of the fantastical and magical. It was not a place she ever wants to be in again. It was a place where things never ended. And I think they work so well because they keep their promises. Elaine doesn't ask Lance to stay because everything has to end. She is in control of herself and Lancelot does keep his promise to her: no kings, no castles, no visions. Just now.
Its the divorce of it all that makes this story so fascinating. .

Was it me or was the Kindred book finale a complete let down? I thought that the book was building up to an epic showdown...and it just kinda fizzled out. The final battles in Immortal Desire and CoP1 kept me on the edge of my seat. Guinevere and CoP2 had some flaws, but I could still feel the tension. I could relate to the anger and the fear that the characters felt. Kindred's book finale was a 'meh' at best. It was already disappointing that we couldn't use MC's powers to protect innocents, but I thought the Wraith King storyline is about to pay off now that we finally have to fight him. I expected him to be as powerful as The Creator from Immortal Desires. I thought that an entire army of Guardians was about to show up to give the girls some time to escape just for the Wraith King to obliterate them. I expected him to reveal some well guarded Morrigan family secret. He turned out to be one of the weakest and least interesting Choices villains ever. His plans were thwarted by a bunch of powerless mortals.
Nothing to add, I very much agree with all of this! I mentioned this very briefly, but yeah, I definitely agree the Wraith King was severely underwhelming and I feel like the fact that he was kept in the shadows for most of the book doesn't help, either. It can work, just not in this case. At the very least, it could've been executed better. The fight was so brief and maybe things could've been if this had been a series instead of yet another standalone instead.

I disagree with with the last anon about letting Galahad decide. I mean, for better or worse Arthur is Mordred's father, and if it's a version of Mordred that wants to build some sort of relationship with him then they can't keep that from him. In my opinion, I think the right thing to do is to tell Galahad first and inform him that you're going to tell Arthur. He still deserves the chance to brace himself however he can
I skipped over anon saying it's the right thing and simply talked about possible options. The morality/ethics of that course of action - or others - is another discussion altogether. Since you brought it up tho, I'll elaborate on both!
Theoretically, if Mordred finds out first, they would have the choice to not do anything about it/not tell anyone, along with others. Story wise, I'd be interested in giving different opinions.
It may not be very clear in the ask, but I was referring simply to Mordred's action of telling Galahad before anyone else being something I'd consider. From then on Mordred could tell him their own decision about what they'll do with the info, or tell him it's up to him to deal with it - whether he first goes to Arthur or Lancelot or even makes it public. Whatever else Mordred may do with the info it's up to them - and whatever Galahad does with the info, or any other character that would find out, is up to that character.
So Galahad would make his own choice if told, and he would choose to let Arthur and his mother know. Well, his mother knows Lancelot is with someone else, since she too has a lover, but Galahad doesn't know that. Galahad wouldn't directly go to Arthur tho, not at first. He'd convince his father or Guinevere to do it, giving them the chance to be the ones to come clean about everything. If Lancelot refuses, than yeah, he'd definitely go to Arthur - or let Mordred give the news, depending on whether they want to do it, and on Mordred's relationship to Arthur/attitude towards Arthur.
Talking morality now - Arthur deserves to know the truth, obviously. It'd be best to hear it from Lance or Guin themselves in my opinion, to have them come clean. If not, I think the best and kindest option would be to tell Arthur and keep it quiet and let the concerned parties solve and discuss this between them (and they may choose to make it public when they're ready). They may be public figures, but it's an intimate matter that they should have the opportunity to handle privately. Some Mordreds may think there's a moral obligation in telling the Kingdom after Arthur finds out. Some Mordreds may not be interested in how this affects Arthur personally and just want to show the world Lancelot's actions or cause a scandal.
Again, this is all theory since I haven't said how the affair is revealed, whether it depends on player choices or it's fixed, whether Mordred finds out first or not. I just said, if it would happen that way, I'd aim for giving different choices for Mordred.

Hero wars best team combinations

#Hero wars best team combinations how to#
Skill 2 + Skill 1 + Skill 3 + Skill 2 + Skill 1 + Skill 4 Late Game You can denote that to easily trigger his ultimate ability, and be sure to use this skill combo: Also, Fredrinn’s Fourth/Ultimate ability consumes 3 combo points. One must note that Fredrinn’s first and second skill provides 1 combo point in each, while Fredrinn’s third skill consumes 1 combo point while reducing the skill Cool down of his First and Second skill. On attaining level 4, and on unlocking Fredrinn’s Third and Fourth skills, one must now pay more close attention to Fredrinn’s combo points as it determines how easily one can use his skills. Skill 1 + Basic Attack + Skill 2 + Basic Attack Mid Gameįredrinn is very strong on attaining level 4 since it gets easier for him to easily spam his skills thanks to the Combo Points of his passive. You can additionally perform the following skill combos to gain an upper hand on the battlefield: This also provides a knock airborne effect on enemy heroes on the next basic attack used after using this skill. Lastly, build Guardian Helmet for a very high base HP as well as the extra HP Regen it provides. Other equipment like Oracle increases HP regen capabilities of Fredrinn, which is useful against anti Regen items. Next, build Thunder Belt for extra Durability against Physical Damage heroes as well as for its unique passive which slows down the enemy while also increasing his chances of dealing true damage to enemy units. Build Cursed Helmet for the High HP it provides as well as the continuous damage it deals with thanks to its passive. Next, build Bloodlust Axe for extra durability and Regen whenever one deals damage with skills. Firstly, build Warrior Boots for extra Durability against Physical Damage heroes, but if the enemy has many Crowd control capability heroes, then build Tough Boots for a lower crowd control timespan. Hence, this equipment build is geared at providing extra HP Regen and durability for Fredrinn. For now, let’s focus on Fredrinn.ĭue to his passive, Fredrinn is a highly durable hero that can soak damage from enemy units while also recovering as much HP very efficiently. So make sure to check these hero guides as well.

In this Mobile Legends guide, we will take a look at the best emblem, spells, and builds, including tips and tricks to dominate every game with Fredrinn. We have previously made a detailed hero analysis of Fredrinn as he made his appearance on the MLBB advanced server. This and many more perks, make this hero very suitable for intense team fights as he can easily soak damage while also recovering his lost HP more easily. This is so since he has high Regen/Durability capabilities while also dealing a considerable amount of damage in return. Mobile Legends’ new hero Fredrinn is going to be the latest hero with that Fighter/Tank role.

Article: ‘Merlin’ creator reflects on the ‘very sad end’ to the series, talks filming the finale
by Selina W for hypable.com, first published 10:05 am EST February 7th 2013
[Original article]
“Julian Murphy, the creator of Merlin, has finally spoken about the end of the series in a new interview. Read what he has to say about the final episode and the characters’ journeys.
The Hero Complex caught up with Murphy to talk about Merlin, and we’re very glad it did – because apart from his series finale commentary, Murphy and the other producers have been keeping very quiet about the end of the show, and how they made the final decisions.
Anyone who’s seen the finale episode “The Diamond of the Day, Part 2” knows that Merlin did not have a happy ending. Not only did Morgana, Mordred and Gwaine all die, but Arthur himself died in Merlin’s arms – leaving Gwen to bring peace to Albion alone while Merlin was left to wander the world, waiting for Arthur to return and for his destiny to resume.
The decision to end the show with Arthur’s death
In this interview, Murphy acknowledges that, “Yes, it is quite sad,” but at the same time, “it’s quite a sad legend, to be honest, so it’s only a reflection of that.”
He also reveals that their plan had been to kill Arthur all along – even back when the show served as a prequel to the legends as opposed to telling the legends themselves. “What we decided to do was to tell the legend how it was in many ways,” Murphy says. “And I suppose we’re very sad that Arthur had to die, [but] that is a massive part of the legend.”
This was the reason for the final scene, where we see Merlin in the present day. “We tried to sort of soften it and give it a sense of hope that he would one day rise again, and that Merlin even to the present day was waiting for that to happen.”
Guinevere and Morgana’s journeys
Meanwhile of course, Guinevere was left to lead Camelot into the golden age. “We’ve had that in our minds for about three series,” Murphy says. “We felt that to take Gwen from a servant girl to a powerful and strong queen, a person who can bind the kingdom together, was the journey we wanted to do, and I think Angel [Coulby] delivered that brilliantly.”
He also reflects on Morgana’s journey, saying, “the fact that she became bitter and vengeful was a product of circumstance; it wasn’t what she was born as.” They took great care to build up Morgana as a layered character, so that by the end she is, “a villain in every sense of the word, but Morgana is also a complicated, broken, wronged character, and I hope that makes her so much more fascinating and so much more interesting to be with.”
Murphy’s favourite pairing
The interviewer also asks Murphy if he has a favourite pairing in the show, and the answer should surprise no one. “Merlin and Arthur,” he says. “To me, that’s the heart of the program. It’s a story of friendship, it’s both very funny but very touching and very real.”
Reflecting on their journey through the series, he says, “to go from two characters who in many ways in the first series began hating each other to two characters who profoundly respect and care about each other is a great journey. Those simple journeys are always the best, and the heart of the program is not dragons and swords and myths and legends, it’s that story, that friendship.”
Filming the finale
Finally, he reflects on shooting the final episodes, and calls the experience an emotional one. “The worst was shooting the end, which wasn’t actually the last day on set,” he says, because “that was very emotional for everyone. It was actually quite difficult to work on the last story because you’re killing a character you’ve lived with for five years … and going through that with Merlin, that’s an incredibly emotional experience.”
But ultimately, while Murphy acknowledges the tragedy of it all, “there’s also a sense of, this is right. It feels right. If it feels wrong, I think it’s not a very potent experience, but if it feels right, then yes, it’s sad, but it also feels right.”
Having had some time to reflect, what did you think about the way they chose to end the show? Read our review of the finale, which examines the platonic love story of Merlin and Arthur.”

Lancelot and Arthur
I’m sorry, but the use of Gwen and Arthur’s love theme (which obviously isn’t just their theme at all) as Lancelot was telling Arthur that he was leaving Camelot because he wasn’t worthy of being Arthur’s knight and couldn’t get between father and son, really took me out. I had to pause the scene because I started laughing. The romantic undertones of this entire episode are priceless, and entirely unintentional, which made it even funnier, starting with this absolutely brilliant exchange:
A: I should've known. How could I have been so stupid?! You don't sound like a knight, you don't even look like a knight! L: I'm sorry. A: I'm sorry, too. Because, Lancelot, you fight like a knight. And I need... Camelot needs...
Are they lovers or what? Arthur was so angry, he looked like he’d been cheated on. “Lancelot, you fuck fight like a knight”. Arthur was really ready to lay down his life for Lancelot. He even fought Uther and all but said  “Damn the knight’s code, I need Lancelot”. I’m surprised there aren’t more Lancelot/Arthur shippers. It’s even funnier that Arthur is enamored but Lancelot is so indifferent to Arthur.
Good for Arthur, though. He opposed his father twice for Lancelot: first to release him from prison, and then to plead for his knighthood to be restored. I’ve always loved how kindhearted and pure Arthur is. He didn’t kill the griffin himself, but he didn’t care at all. He felt no jealousy; he wasn’t insecure or resentful that a commoner had succeeded where he had failed. He was just thankful and happy for Lancelot and Camelot. He was proud of Lancelot and wished him nothing but the best. Arthur doesn’t need others to fail for him to feel good about himself.
It’s a shame Gwen didn’t see any of this. She wasn’t present for any of these small moments where Arthur proved he wasn’t just an immature and entitled prince. It wasn’t until A Moment of Truth that she finally began to see past his attitude; of course, by that time, Arthur had grown quite a bit.
As for Gwen and Lancelot, I truly don’t get their romance. He liked her, she was impressed by him. She liked his bravery and nobility and what he represented - equality and change; he thought she was lovely; she was moved by his actions, and they had chemistry too... But... That’s it... That’s all there is to them in this episode. And the next time Lancelot and Gwen see each other, it’s a year later and they spend only a few days together, so I truly can’t understand Lancelot’s devotion to Gwen or the intensity of their feelings in Lancelot and Guinevere. I still believe that it’s just bad writing. There’s no proper build-up to it. She was really taken in by his charm, and thankful and flattered to be rescued, to be worth dying for; so it must’ve been the stress and circumstances of her situation that made her react so strongly to Lancelot...
Lancelot was never a character who was supposed to stick around, especially because of Gwen and Arthur, so there’s something very unsatisfying about him. I like him - he’s incredibly charming and smooth - but the fact that he always leaves for the flimsiest reasons is annoying. Lancelot may have had Merlin’s help killing the griffin but he still killed it, so he didn’t need to abandon his dream of being a knight of Camelot.
However, I understand his reasons for leaving better now. He worked toward becoming a knight his whole life, so he didn’t wish to be the exemption to the Knight’s code for something he couldn’t take full credit for. He’s prideful. But him leaving Gwen in season 2 still makes little sense. How can you be so prideful and noble to always sabotage your own happiness? At what point does it just become stupidity, bordering on selfishness?
Also, I found this bit of dialogue hilarious:
I vowed that day that never again would I be helpless in the face of tyranny. I made sword craft my life. Every waking hour since that day, I devoted to the art of combat, and when I was ready, I set forth for Camelot.
Lancelot wanted to oppose tyranny so he came to... Camelot?... Boy, I have news for you...
Another precious bit of dialogue was this:
G: He's not really my type. M: Oh, well, there's a surprise. Sometimes, Guinevere, I wonder if you'd know what your type was if he was standing right next to you. G: You're probably right. M: So, come on. Just for the sake of argument. If you had to, Arthur or Lancelot. G: But I don't have to and I never will.
How right you are, Gwen. One time Lancelot leaves so you don’t have to choose between your old crush and your new love interest, and the second time, he comes back but you’re already taken so there’s no choice to make - it’s Arthur; and the third time you’re still taken and it’s still Arthur. So you really never have to choose between Lancelot and Arthur.
I also want to point out the double irony of Gwen not knowing her “type if he was standing right next to” her. It was ironic because Merlin was clearly Gwen’s type at the time, yet he was standing right next to her oblivious to the fact; but the scene is doubly ironic because, right in front of Gwen, are Lancelot and Arthur, who are very much Gwen’s type, more so than Merlin, so both Gwen and Merlin were totally clueless.
But poor Gwen finally got over her unfortunate, but rather cute, crush on Merlin. It’s interesting that, in the beginning of the episode, she still liked Merlin (above scene), so Lancelot’s appearance by itself wasn’t enough to change her mind. However, when Lancelot went to Gwen and asked for her strongest armor to fight the griffin, she was incredibly moved by his words and heart, and pleaded with him not to go. She told him: “Lancelot, I don't believe I've ever met your like before.”, which reminded me of her words in Lancelot and Guinevere: “You are everything that is right with this world. [...] I didn't even know I could feel this way about someone.”. In both episodes, it was Lancelot’s nobility, bravery, and willingness to sacrifice himself for what he believed in (Arthur in Lancelot, and Gwen in Lancelot and Guinevere), combined with his obvious feelings for Gwen, that truly moved Gwen and made her forget the men she previously had feelings for (Merlin and Arthur).
But it’s important to note that those feelings had been shallow. When Lancelot returned in seasons 3 and 4, his nobility and his death may have moved Gwen, yet she stayed true to Arthur because she loved him - her feelings were strong and unmovable. But what she’d felt for Merlin and Arthur both times Lancelot showed up in seasons 1 and 2 had been little more than an infatuation, in Merlin’s case, and mild interest, in Arthur’s. It’s also interesting that Gwen hadn’t known Arthur’s true nobility and bravery at the time or how it matched Lancelot’s.
This episode is full of scenes that aged like fine wine. Right before the scene above, Arthur was looking at Morgana and asking Lancelot if he found “her”, meaning Morgana, beautiful. But Lancelot was looking only at Gwen so he agreed, forcing Arthur to concede that Morgana was indeed beautiful. The look on his face, though... He looked like he’d rather drink acid than admit Morgana was beautiful. And Morgana was smiling so coyly at her own brother too... It was truly a great moment... If only you had followed Lancelot’s gaze, Arthur...
Merlin proved himself in this episode. It was a big moment for him to charm the lance that killed the griffin, and he did it with Lancelot, not Arthur, which is rather funny. Everyone liked Lancelot better, Arthur included.
But considering how close Merlin and Lancelot are in seasons 3 and 4, I was surprised by this episode. Merlin liked Lancelot, for sure, but not as much as he liked Gwaine when he appeared in Camelot. I expected Merlin and Lancelot to have more scenes together, but there was, understandably, a bigger focus on Arthur and Lancelot - mostly due to Gwen and the fact that Lancelot was the first commoner Arthur wished to knight.
I do wish the series hadn’t used the same theme for everything though. Things get weird real fast when they play the full theme in a platonic context. The whole theme is so romantic and so strongly associated with Arthur and Gwen that when I heard it during an emotional Merlin and Gaius scene it completely ruined the moment. In this episode, hearing it play when Arthur was fighting for Lancelot immediately made the entire thing look romantic. It was also weird that they used it during Lancelot and Gwen’s first kiss, when the theme had just been played for the first time in its entirety episodes before, during Gwen and Arthur’s first kiss. Please, don’t use the same theme for different ships, no matter how good it is. It’s disrespectful, if anything, but also a real mood killer sometimes.

Confrontations;
Everything had been going fine till his sister had shown up. It had basically consistently put Gabe in a lousy mood. He did his best not to let it show too much, but he was sure even his girlfriend could tell. Once he was announced for the New Japan Cup, he tried to focus all of his energy on that, knowing he'd be leaving for Japan soon enough.
He hadn't expected to run into her when he did, both at Starbucks. "Bloody hell." Gabe cursed louder than he had meant to. Not that this man could ever be quiet in his life. Gwen heard her brother almost instantly. She wished she couldn't pick his voice out of a crowd. " Just leave me alone, Gabe," she said, grabbing her coffee and leaving the building. Spinning on his heel, he followed her out of the place.
"Guinevere." He said, knowing that the fact that he'd fully named her would make her stop. " What the hell are you even bloody doing here? Why did you come to the States in the first place?" he questioned her. " Why do you even care?" she retorted. " News flash, everything doesn't have to do with you. Go back to being bloody happy with your little girlfriend." she said with a snort." You clearly don't want me in your life, so I have no problem not being in it." she said, glaring at the older man.
"Then go back home, no reason for you to bloody be here." he snapped, causing Gwen to laugh. " No, so mum can just lock me up in a looney bin? Hiding me away when I'm a little too much. A little too crazy for her?" she scoffed a little. " So don't even act like you care; I'll stay out of your life; you stay out of mine," she said, throwing her coffee at him. " You fuckin' cunt!" he shouted as she walked off. Gabe was just left confused and unsure of things as he knew he now needed to talk to their mother before heading to Japan. Forgetting about his coffee, he just got into his own car and went home before he ended up fighting someone.
