Just putting together one big post for all five of these. I really want to do more of these when I get the chance. Drawing detailed mecha in dynamic poses like this is such a pain in the ass to get right, but so satisfying once it’s done!

The characters I cared about most in the Inkheart Trilogy
Brianna was treated unfairly by all characters except her parents, and I really wand to fight people on her behalf.
I don't actually care about Farid anymore - he's just here to honor my 14 year old self.
Jehan Jr was cute, and I hope Dustfinger manages to become the father he deserves
Roxane - forest witch in Training
Dustfinger is one of my OG blorbo's. Gwin, of course, is where he belongs.
Nettle - elder forest witch

The Pixie's Queen (Monsterly Yours #4) by S.J. Sanders
Tumblr media
Of course, I always have to immediately go off about how much I love a cover for S.J. Sanders. Absolutely banger cover art 24/7. I will say though, this was not my favorite book of one of my favorite authors. I liked the characters for the most part, and maybe it was just a me thing, but there was a point about 20-30 pages from the end where I sighed and thought, "Really? We're gonna go through it some more right now?" That's when I closed the book and took a seriously long break from reading it. Unfortunately, this wasn't like Punished where I got to sit on it for a second and decide that my initial dislike was simply due to a bad mood.
The basis of the story is this black-sheep-of-the-family witch comes across this ancient talisman that warps her into the fae world, where she is suddenly four inches tall and caught in a downpour. Along comes a hive of four pixies, who conditions unbeknownst to Orenda, perform a delightful mating dance that she graciously accepts. Que bedroom shenanigans and then a wild denial of any mating taking place and some seriously broken hearts for the pixies. The rest of it is the pixies both trying to cope with their emotions, convince Orenda to stay, and conceive ways to get her back to her normal life and maybe follow her into that giant lifestyle as well if they can't accomplish the second task.
Prior to Orenda's appearance we have Shavish, the hive leader, who is headstrong, stubborn, and a little volatile. Orel and Gwin are hopeless and resigned to their fate of being mateless guardians, and Dazi has accepted his fate and hidden himself away in his research and scholarly works to keep busy. They are all good characters, there just felt like a lack of depth to the interactions between them and Orenda.
When it comes to Orenda, in my opinion, she felt like a very skin-deep character at times. I did not care for her attitude and also the way she handled some stuff. Obviously, when consuming media, you're not going to fall in love with every main character you're presented with, so this was going to happen at some point, even with one of my favorite authors.
Overall, it's a 224-page read with the most love interests involved that I've read so far. My humble opinion is; it's mid. It has all the fine writing of S.J. Sanders, but the smut felt lacking and the characters and story didn't keep me chomping at the bit to read more like most of her other works do.
Would I read again? No, I could hardly get through it the first time.
Would I recommend? I wanna say yes because of love and loyalty to the author, but I'm going to say no so I can recommend you her better works

Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living Devotional Scripture: Proverbs 1:7(KJV): The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.   Thought for the Day
The "fear of the Lord" is needed to attain knowledge, but what does this phrase mean? To fear the Lord means to be alarmed by what could happen if we were to lack reverence for God and disregard His Word. The young person who respects his father heeds his words. He knows wrongdoing displeases his father and brings punishment. Likewise, if we respect God and believe His Word, we will not disobey Him. We will resist sin because we know there is a penalty for it. The acknowledgment of this one truth truly is the gateway to attaining the knowledge of God.
People without fear of God are rebellious and despise His instruction. They go about breaking His laws as if nothing will ever happen to them. The Bible refers to them as "fools." Because God is merciful, people do not usually face the consequences of their sins immediately. In time, however, all of us reap what we sow, as Galatians 6:7 tells us: "Be not deceived; God has not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
The only way to stop the sowing and reaping process is to repent of our sins. The cleansing power of Christ can sterilize the evil seeds we have sown. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we do not have to pay the penalty for our sins because He paid it for us. We can escape sin's consequences. How wonderful this is! It is as if someone comes along and plows up the fields of our lives in which we had planted seeds of sin. In time, these would have sprouted and produced terrible consequences. Through Christ's love for us, our lives become like clean, plowed fields. We can now plant seeds of righteousness that produce abundant blessings that we can enjoy and share with others.
Prayer for the Day
Our Father in heaven, We are thankful that You came to save us from the consequences of our sins. We do ask You to forgive us for all of our trespasses and sins that we have committed in the weakness of our flesh. Help us today to resist the temptation to yield to any sin. We know we cannot do this by our strength, but we call on You to give us the power to overcome the desires of the flesh. Lord, we acknowledge our respect, fear, and awe of You. Deliver us from all foolishness. We trust that You are "all wise" and ask that You teach us Your ways so that we might walk in a path of blessing and be a blessing to all we meet today. I ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

Daily Devotionals for March 10, 2024
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 11:7-9(KJV): 7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. 8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead. 9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered. Proverbs 11:7-9(Amplified): 7 When the wicked dies, his hope (for the future) perishes, and the expectation of the godless comes to nothing. 8 The(uncompromisingly) righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked gets into it instead. 9 With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge and superior discernment shall the righteous be delivered.
Thought for the Day
Verses 7-8 - Wicked men may make great plans for the future, but these plans will not materialize when their lives are cut short. A great portion of Scripture to strengthen our faith is a personal favorite of mine: Psalm 91. It contains wonderful promises of protection for those who remain close to God. There is no trouble that is too great for Him. The enemy is not able to withstand His power! I pray these scriptures over my life and my family daily.
Verse 9 - Gossips are hypocrites. They criticize others, yet they are guilty of great evil, destroying a person's reputation by repeating things that may or may not be true. Even truthful things become distorted by repetition. When I was young, we used to play a game called "Gossip." Someone whispered something to the person seated next to them, who in turn told what they had heard to the next person, and so on. The last person in the circle related what they had heard aloud. Everyone would laugh, since what was said was usually very different from what was originally whispered. This truly illustrates what happens when people gossip. Things become distorted and perverted, the more they are repeated.
People love gossip. They buy tabloids that print disgraceful things about well-known people. This is displeasing to God, who tells us in Psalm 34:13-14, "Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it" and in 1 Peter 3:10-11, "For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.” Proverbs 15:1-4 says, "A soft answer turned away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poured out foolishness. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit."
The knowledge of the Lord can deliver us from every troublesome situation, even destructive gossip. We have an advantage over others because we are God's children, and can receive His instruction in harmful situations. By following His advice, we can overcome anything that the enemy would try to do to hurt us. We can walk in victory at all times because the Holy Spirit lives within us.
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear Father, thank you for this day. I find that many of my days are challenging in dealing with certain people in my life. Help me always to be kind and gentle, and not respond in the wrong way to people who say things that bother me. Help me to have Your compassion for them and pray for them instead of criticizing them. Also, Lord, I often try to justify my position in situations that would be better if I just let You defend me. Help me guard my tongue. Use my words to be a blessing to others. Help me overcome all temptation to speak evil of anyone. It especially helps me to be kind to those in my family and workplace so that we may all work in peace and harmony. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen. From: Steven P. A classic. October Toys had a short but wonderful run of mini-figures, and one of them was this glow-in-the-dark penguin which I have hanging out in a closet filled with glowing toys. When you get enough glowing toys in one place, the light they generate just gets bigger and brighter, to the point where you can actually make out non-glowing toys and even your own person. I recommend buying as many as humanly possible.
