true beauty.

THIS DRAMA WAS UN-EXPECTANT. HILARIOUS. CUTE. AND PRECIOUS. we got cha eunwoo, our bae. with our newest bestest boy, hwang in-yeop. and our queen, mun ka-young. what else would one need in a drama?! i was excited when they announced the creation of this drama, because like so many of us i love the webtoon. that is overlooking the faults of the basis of the theme with shallow standards of beauty, it is great. and i love our characters. i especially love how the writers of the drama utilized the great structures of the webtoon’s characters and created another world. i rate it a 10 out of 10.

we follow our leading lady im ju-kyung as she overcomes bullying at her old school for being ‘ugly’. she was cast out and a ‘dumpling runner’, running around for the group of bullies. she finds a passion for makeup and masters it, becoming a new person with a ‘new face’ after putting it on. she starts life at a new school with her new face. she stumbles into an old place of comfort without her new face, the comic book store, and runs into the school prince, lee suho. this ensues with a bout of lying; unsuccessfully, because suho knows that she is the same im ju-kyung that started at his school. he protects her secret, and it leads their relationship to grow closer. we follow them through their years at high school, as she hides her face and later hiding their relationship from their classmates. this drama continues to follow them through their young adult years. 

now on to the spoilers…

overall, once again i must always state that i don’t love it when they take this shallow perspective and over dramatize the conventional aspects of beauty. im ju-kyung, who is supposedly not conventionally beautiful and they dramatize her redness and pimples, etc. she does all these wild things to hide her true identity from those around her at school. thankfully the writers did not try to pull that ‘oh my goodness, i didn’t know that was you under the makeup’ game because our suho is not a shallow cookie and looks below the surface. because that game is ridiculous and i would have died. i am thankful the ending that this drama took, because i was nervous especially at the start that it was going to go the duration of the show with no-one knowing her true face, like the webtoon. thankfully we had a character revelation unfortunately not on her own timing. but she had grown as a person and had a team of people behind her allowing her to shine and overcome. we love character development. it’s great. it makes my heart happy. we started the drama with her completely swallowed whole by the perception that she wanted to portray to those around her, not showing her true beauty. because she was a beautiful person who wanted to protect those around her, and once she let go of this facade and mask she was able to fully be the person she was destined to be.

i loved suho’s character in this. he had so many layers and i love that they didn’t make it like the webtoon in this aspect. i love how their relationship started in the comic store and ended there. he grew so much, and became livelier because he knew im ju-kyung. his character was so stoic and overcome with sadness at the start. his best friend committed suicide and he blamed himself for this, which was completely out of his control. im ju-kyung showed him that it was not his fault and they came to protect one another. also love how the writers had him pursue music producing at the end, and even produced for seo-jun’s debut. he was such a great son, after him and his father finally reconnected and then he suffered a stroke, crazy! suho went to the states to care for his father. definitely lost in this, he broke up with ju-kyung as to not hold her back, which was silly and even though he was across the world they could have made it work. they’d been through so much worse, but that’s for another drama universe.

han seo-jun our brooding character with a light personality just beneath the surface. i loved seeing his character at home and with his crew, compared to walking through the school halls. (hello, ‘okey dokey yo’). his character always fiercely protected those around him and i just love seo-jun. i love that he came to pursue his career as an idol, and ended up debuting at the end. he worked so hard and deserved the world and more. and i have to say i hate the second male lead dramas, because they break my heart. he changed so much because im ju-kyung’s character grew him and challenged him in new ways. i knew seo-jun would not get the girl. i knew this from the start. did that stop me from loving his character? no. no, it didn’t. did it stop me from cheering for him, even though i loved suho? no. so who ends up heartbroken in the end with him? me. i do. so here i am weeks after the finale, thinking about how seo-jun told ju-kyung that suho was leaving for the states to  send her running after another guy, and ultimately bringing the two of them together. thinking about all those years suho was in the states, when seo-jun treasured their friendship and was with her quietly supporting her in her dreams, for her to ultimately leave for suho. sad. that’s what it is, the definition of sadness. and goodness gracious where is my seo-jun? i will love you and treasure you honey. you do not need ju-kyung, i got you boo.

i must add that hwang in-yeop can show up in my life any day, and i will graciously stop everything and marry this man. i love all of his dramas thus far, his character from the interviews i’ve seen, i love him. he is a favorite. i am expectant for the upcoming dramas he will surely steal the show in.  

the friendship between seo-jun and suho was so multifaceted. i love how we saw how their relationship was before when they were a trio, and then the brokenness when seo-jun blamed suho, to then seeing them come together because they realized they both cut one another off when they should have leaned on one another instead. it was sweet and i loved their bromance moments. they truly stole the show away. it was hilarious and fun with them together. and i appreciate that the relationship between suho and ju-kyung didn’t break the two apart in the end.  

i need to make note how much i love im ju-kyung’s family. like her siblings were iconic. her sister im hee-kyung and her relationship with eui-sik, the homeroom teacher. ICONIC. and im ju-young, her brother, and his precious attempts at winning seojun’s sister’s heart. PRECIOUS. i would 10 out of 10 watch a spin off with the focus on these characters. i loved when ju-kyung’s mom realized all the trauma that her daughter endured how she went to mending the broken pieces to rebuild their relationship. and i love how sweet her dad was, always encouraging her dreams. and i love how they all wanted the best for her, and supported her dreams of becoming a makeup artist. 

i am so sad that whenever we get a great friendship between our leading ladies they end up in awful relations at some point in the drama. our kang soo-jin and im ju-kyung were the best of friends. she even found out about ju-kyung’s secret and protected her to get back to the tent when they were on the trip. and then when ju-kyung started to date suho, soo-jin got everything twisted. i appreciate how suho let her know that no matter the situation he would not have ended up with her, because he didn’t see her in that way. and i loved the seo-jun put her in her place and confronted her for posting the photos of im ju-kyung online. i am thankful that we had the revelation for soo-jin’s character and came back to apologize to ju-kyung in the end. it was sweet and genuine. she came to see why she was like the way she was, grew from it, and apologized for her past behaviors. 

i love how suho and ju-kyung’s world’s connected. from the comic book store, to high school, to her sister working at his father’s music agency. it was complete destiny that they ended up together. i love a good ‘it is destiny, it was meant to be'. 

the webtoon drama inception was REAL. i loved that they added those little easter eggs throughout the drama with the little connections to ‘extraordinary you’. i loved it.

Episode 13 Thoughts

ok so yesterday i wrote a really long post on my thoughts on episode 13 but it was on a really old tablet so it deleted while i was writing it so imma write it again tdy but keep in mind im paraphrasing my thoughts from right after i finished episode 13, not my thoughts about after today’s episode

Hye Min: Im happy with her development and her reporting the bullies at Saebom (idk which episode this happened in but i wanted to touch on it). Proud of her :)

Soo Jin: Im sad with the direction they took her character in and I hope she gets some type of redemption eventually, but i do want her to face the consequences of her actions. being hurt is not an excuse to hurt. this being said i think the way they wrote her betrayal was horrible.

Soo Ah: The way she’s acting bothers me. She’s giving the cold shoulder to JK and I don’t really get why. Your best friend is in pain you should be supporting her. Idk it rubbed me the wrong way.

Tae Hoon: I love him so much. Himbo icon. Thats really it tbh. I like that he really didnt treat JK differently.

Su Ho: I actually really love his relationship with JK now. Who knew once they finally started communicating I would like them. Never could’ve guessed [/s]. And I like how he was there for JK and gave her the time she needed. Love a supportive boyfriend. The break up thing though implies the show is going in the time skip direction which worries me because I dont know how they’re gonna pull that off with only three episodes left.

Seo Jun: Please give him a break god damn. He’s already been through so much and is doing so much for this girl who barely notices him I’m in pain. Just let him move on.

Go Woon: What can I say besides she’s a badass. I love her. That’s it.

Ju Young: I love how he stood up for JK. He may be an annoying little shit sometimes, but his heart is in the right place and I appreciate him.

Mr. Han: Simply precious. That’s all. I would like for him to work on his communication skills a little more, but besides that I love him and completely understand how Hee Kyung fell for him.

JK’s mom (idk her name oops): I genuinely hated her at first because she was, in my opinion, verbally abusive. Im not an expert so maybe it’s not my right to say, but I genuinely loathe how she treated JK, her own daughter. But this episode showed tremendous growth and Im glad she acknowledged her faults and is trying to be better. Taking her to a plastic surgeon may not have been the best idea but i applaud her for trying! Also i love her for standing up to the surgeon.

Last but not least, the star of the show, Ju Kyung herself:  I was so proud of her growth this episode. Like, so, so proud. I think the way they portrayed her depression was incredibly realistic (speaking as someone who has depression), if not just a little too fast, but I understand they have to move things quickly. Nevertheless Im still so proud of her for being able to stand up to those bullies and announce she’s dating Su Ho. what a baddie.

The drama <The World of The Married> has come to an end amid keen interest. Han So-hee, who plays the role of Yeo Da-kyung, who fell in love with a married man under false emotions, became a big actress at once with the drama. Han So-her suddenly became the star of the spotlight, but Han l So-hee was not excited. This is because the actress Han So-hee is only at the starting point. Rather, she has a good desire to act more, longer, better.

The day I met Han So-hee was just around the time of summer. She showed up with her long hair naturally tied up in light makeup. She looked more comfortable than in the drama, which was full of energy. How have you been since the drama ended? I stayed at home all the time. Try not to think as much as possible about the married world. It's busy and hard, but not hard. The feeling of adrenaline coming out although physically tired. Interviewing like today is one of the schedules, but it is fun to share various opinions about the drama.

They (people) were greatly loved in The World of The Married. What do you think the reason is? Until the drama aired, Da-kyung thought she was a character that could not be loved until the end. The feeling Da-kyung could receive from people was one of sympathy. It seems that people thought that Da-kyung only loved Lee Tae-oh. In addition, Jenny's appearance as a mother at a young age caused sympathy.

The subject is an affair, and Da-kyung was exceptionally loved by her twenties. What do you think is Da-kyung's charm? It was unexpected that it was popular with people in their twenties. It seems that a woman in her 20s could have understood Da-kyung. In the drama, Da-kyung is pure. The reason why he fell in love with the emotion of love was because she was innocent. It was reckless enough for parents to turn their backs on them. When she returned to Gosan two years later, she might have looked pathetic to see her struggling to protect her family.

Some said they were envious of their parents who handled everything that Yeo Da-kyung had done. So Da-kyung has no manners.(laughs) too much to do anything reckless. Da-kyung might have committed such a mistake because she didn't clearly point out the wrong parts.

There is a public opinion that Yeo Da-kyung's last appearance is realistic and bitter. While Tae-oh falls to the bottom, Da-kyung may feel bitter about studying what she wanted and starting a new life. It looks like a golden spoon girl is looking for her way to live. I think Da-kyung's ending is after that. Da-kyung will live a hellish life from then on. When she was 25 years old, she raised a child without a father, and her trust in people collapsed. No matter what love you make, you know too well that the ending is tragic.

How did you feel when you turned down the man you liked at the end? It's close to losing the former. There is little emotion left for Da-kyung after Tae-oh already hellish the situation. When she received a dash from a man who seemed to know nothing, she expressed that there was no emotion left.

The drama also expands its negative image for marriage. There was a saying that our drama was a non-marriage-promoting drama. Though it maximizes emotions, it is extremely realistic in other respects. I think it's a different problem depending on how you see it's the message from the drama is who suffered 100 percent damage. I think it's Junyoung. I didn't think the ending that the drama could show to the viewers was biased because it showed well the victim's appearance due to an affair like Jun-young, not just a story of marriage and an affair.

# Han So-hee Becomes Nonmaritalist(?)

Much has changed since The Wolrd of The Married. As Yeo Da-kyung, she became an actor and style icon representing people in their 20s. <The World of The Married> is a work that has helped Han So-hee establish herself as an actress and also instilled a new marriage view. The belief that a happy marriage with just one love changed when I met Yeo Da-kyung.

Did this drama change your mind about marriage? Actually, I don't think I can get married.(Laughs) I suffered a lot while filming. It was unpleasant to understand how Tae-oh and Da-kyung feel about doing something morally wrong. So I thought I couldn't get married or get married easily. Previously, I thought I could get married only with love. Da-kyung and I had the only thing in common, but we changed our minds after this drama. Marriage and family could not be tied together by love alone. It occurred to me that I could not only love the other person, but also lead the family only when I became strong without losing my own self-esteem

What do you think you need to get married? Trust is important. Trust is broken in triviality. I think marriage is more difficult because trust is broken by nothing. It's a difficult problem. While doing this drama, two things became definite. Let's not get married carelessly, let's not have children carelessly. Even if you choose to marry carefully, it can all be destroyed.

There is a saying that she (Da-Kyung) is the biggest beneficiary of the cast of <The World of The Married>. What do you think? It is true that she received a lot of spotlights That's how embarrassing it is. It's not because I'm good at it. I am grateful to receive a lot of attention, but I feel burdened because I have to live up to expectations.

As soon as you became a popular actress, you became an icon that women wanted to resemble. Thank you for looking at me like that. I started my career as a model in the entertainment industry. Therefore, it is natural to show a different side of yourself through pictorials and advertisements outside of acting. However, I want to focus more on acting.

Did you feel any pressure when you were exposed to tattoos or smoking while the drama was on TV? Not at all. I thought it was natural to focus on a lot of my parts as the drama went well. Rather, I thought about how to understand this part of me. I think I can be honest with myself. Han So-hee was then Han So-hee, and Han So-hee was now Han So-hee.

What did you do before you became an actress? Originally, I majored in painting. I thought I could be anything if I went to Seoul as Mindra, a native of Ulsan, so I came up recklessly. But the reality was tragic. During my first two to three years in Seoul, I worked so hard that I didn't know why I came and why I was in Seoul. I didn't come after money, but I ended up working part-time. So the painting gradually moved away from my hands. Then I started working as a model. It was the first time I felt 'I can make money doing what I like!' It's like I'm breathing in my life. Many changes occurred while working as a model. I'm not trying to show you anything, but doing what I like and want to do well, so I came all the way

Do you still paint? I didn't have time to draw these days. Now that the drama is over, I'm going to draw it. For me, painting was hard to act at the same time as acting because it was a way of expressing emotions. Both sides have hard parts to exert force on.

Which is harder, a painting or acting? Acting is harder. I still don't know much about acting. There seems to be no other way but to continue studying, which is what is good at, what points to take and what points to do. So it's hard but fun. I'm embarrassed if I can't. Since i'm an actres, it is a shame that I can't show my ability as much as I received guarantee. I don't like it, so I want to do well. Compared to four years ago when I first started acting, I became more greedy. Perhaps it will grow bigger in the future.

What kind of work do you want to do in the future? I want to do a piece without any romance. After becoming an icon of controversy that struggles with love, I hope it is a work about loyalty that starts peacefully and ends peacefully.(laughs) If there is romance, I hope this time there will be a fruit of love.

Still a rookie. What kind of actress do you want to be remembered as in the future? I hope to have the basics as an actress. I think people's interest and love are followed if I do well. "As an actress, there will be ups and downs, but when I go downhill, I have to be an actress with a solid foundation to minimize the blow." I want to be an actress for a long time. I hope I can remain a person who acts slowly and slowly for a long time.

2. Descendants of the Sun

Some relationships are fated, despite the challenges of time and place.

Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki), the leader of a Special Forces unit, meets trauma surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) in a hospital emergency room after Shi Jin and his second-in-command, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo), chase down a thief on their day off.

Shi Jin is immediately smitten with Mo Yeon, and he asks her out on a date. But Shi Jin keeps getting called to duty when he is with Mo Yeon, and the two also realize that they have conflicting views about human life (he will kill to protect his country and she has to save lives at all costs). They decide to break off their budding relationship as a result.

Dae Young also tries to break off his relationship with Army doctor Yoon Myeong Ju (Kim Ji Won) because her father, Lt. General Yoon (Kang Shin Il), thinks Shi Jin is a better match for his daughter.

Shi Jin and Dae Young are then deployed to the fictional war-torn country of Urk on a long-term assignment of helping the United Nations keep peace in the area. After repeatedly being passed over for a promotion because of her lack of connections, Mo Yeon gives up performing surgeries, loosening her principles somewhat to become a celebrity TV doctor and caring for VIP patients at the hospital. But when she refuses the sexual advances of the hospital chairman, Mo Yeon is picked to lead a medical team to staff a clinic in Urk! There, Mo Yeon unexpectedly reconnects with Shi Jin.

3. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

Do Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) comes from a long line of women possessing Herculean strength. But Bong Soon can only use her strength for good; if she uses it for her own personal gain or to mistreat others, she can lose her strength forever like her mother, Hwang Jin Yi (Shim Hye Jin). 4. While You Were Sleeping

A young woman with bad premonition dreams meets two people who suddenly develop the same ability.

Jung Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk), a rookie prosecutor, and his younger brother, Seung Won (Shin Jae Ha), move in across the street. Since she was young, Hong Joo has had the ability to see bad events before they happen, but she is often unable to do anything about it.

One day, Jae Chan has a strange premonition dream about an accident involving Hong Joo and Lee Yoo Beom (Lee Sang Yeob), a ruthless attorney who used to be Jae Chan’s tutor. Jae Chan decides to interfere in the course of events and ends up saving the lives of Hong Joo and Han Woo Tak (Jung Hae In), a young police officer. 5. Just Between Lovers (Rain or Shine)

A building collapse ties the fates of three young people years later. Ten years ago, the S Mall collapsed due to shoddy construction, killing 48 people inside.

Seo Joo Won (Lee Ki Woo) was helping out his father, who was the head engineer of the building. Moon Soo, Kang Doo and Joo Won survived the horrible accident, but their loved ones did not.

Years later, Joo Won is an architect who is working on a new project to replace the former S Mall. With her keen eye for detail and sturdy building construction, Moon Soo ends up working for Joo Won on the project. Kang Doo works odd jobs to get by and ends up working at the new construction site.

How will they each deal with their respective pains as they are reminded of the event that changed all of their lives so profoundly?

6. Father Is Strange

This is one of those things that can disrupt a seemingly normal family. Byun Han Soo (Kim Young Chul) lives on the outskirts of Seoul with his selfless wife, Na Young Sil (Kim Hae Sook). Their bustling lives center around his small diner, “Daddy’s Snack Shop,” and their four adult children, Joon Young (Min Jin Woong), Hye Young (Lee Yoo Ri), Mi Young (Jung So Min) and Ra Young (Ryu Hwayoung).

Joon Young tries not to disappoint his parents as he has been unable to pass the civil service exam for five years. Hye Young is the most accomplished as a successful attorney who has an on-again, off-again relationship with Cha Jung Hwan (Ryu Soo Young), a television producer-director. After years of trying to land a job, Mi Young finally lands her dream job as an intern for Gabi Entertainment, only to discover that her high school bully, Kim Yoo Joo (Lee Mi Do), works there as a team leader. Ra Young works a yoga instructor and falls for Park Cheol Soo (Ahn Hyo Seop), who has absolutely no interest in returning her attention.

The close-knit Byun family is thrown into turmoil when Ahn Joong Hee (Lee Joon), an idol-turned-actor, shows up one day and claims that Han Soo is his father. Joong Hee is widely ridiculed by netizens as a robotic actor, but he is determined to earn respect by landing a role in a highly anticipated miniseries about a father-son relationship. But in order to conjure the emotions needed for the role, Joong Hee decides he needs to get to know the father he believes abandoned him and his mother 35 years ago.

Will Joong Hee’s appearance threaten to reveal a deeply buried secret and otherwise disrupt Han Soo’s happy family life?

7. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

What else could there be to life than barbells and heavy weights?

Kim Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung) is a weightlifting phenom who has only focused on barbells her entire life while growing up with her father, Kim Chang Gul (Ahn Gil Kang), is a former weightlifter. She attends Hanwool College of Physical Education, a university full of top-notch athletes who are driven to succeed in the hopes of representing their country in national and international competitions.

Bok Joo went to the same elementary school as Jung Joon Hyung (Nam Joo Hyuk) but reunites with him in college. He is now a competitive swimmer who is having trouble recovering from the trauma of being disqualified for a false start in his first international swim competition.

Song Shi Ho (Kyung Soo Jin) is a fiercely competitive rhythmic gymnast who won a silver medal at the Asian Games when she was 18, but the pressures of her sport drive her to break up with Joon Hyung. Bok Joo’s tunnel-vision life starts to change when she falls in love with Joon Hyung’s older cousin, Jung Jae Yi (Lee Jae Yoon), a former athlete who became an obesity doctor after suffering a career-ending injury.

Will Bok Joo learn that there is more to life than weightlifting?

8. Queen In Hyun’s Man

Every actress hopes that an opportunity will come along to play an iconic role that could bring her out of obscurity and make her a star.

For Choi Hee Jin (Yoo In Na), that opportunity is in a television drama playing the role of Queen In Hyun (Kim Hae In), who was deposed during the Joseon Dynasty as King Suk Jong’s (Seo Woo Jin) consort by the scheming actions of Lady Jang (Choi Woo Ri). But Hee Jin’s modern-day world collides with that of her character in ways she doesn’t fully understand.

Kim Boong Do (Ji Hyun Woo), a scholar from the Joseon era, is mysteriously transported 300 years into the future to modern-day Seoul and comes into Hee Jin’s life as she is preparing for her career-making role. Boong Do not only knew the real queen but also supported her reinstatement.

9. Madame Antoine

Can a very observant woman outwit a psychotherapist? Go Hye Rim (Han Ye Seul) operates the Madame Antoine cafe on the first floor of a building that also houses a famous psychotherapy clinic on the top floor. Hye Rim uses her keen intellect and heightened senses to also work as an adviser to psychotherapist Choi Soo Hyun (Sung Joon). But unknown to Hye Rim, Soo Hyun is running a top-secret experiment on her “ideal type of man” with the help of his younger half-brother, Choi Seung Chan (Jung Jin Woon), and clinic employee Won Ji Ho (Lee Joo Hyung). But unknown to Soo Hyun, Hye Rim also is being paid by a mysterious man to get a hold of Soo Hyun’s valuable experiment files. What is Soo Hyun’s true experiment, and will Hye Rim help him or hurt him in his research goals?

10. The Guardians (Lookout)

The Guardians tells the story of a group of people who team up to serve justice themselves after losing their loved ones to criminals. The group consists of a detective, prosecutor, hacker, and an extremely shy person. They want to give these criminals the punishment that they deserve, and take matters into their own hands as the corrupt justice system in South Korea fails to capture the culprits.

11. Circle (Circle: Two Worlds Connected)

A sci-fi mystery drama that takes place in both the year 2017 and the year 2037. In 2007, twin brothers, Kim Woo-jin and Kim Bum-gyun, witness an alien arrival that brings about a huge change in their lives. In 2017, Kim Woo-jin (Yeo Jin-goo), now a college student, notices that a series of suicides in his university is somehow linked to his brother, Kim Bum-gyun (An Woo-yeon). While in pursuit of the case, he meets Han Jung-yeon (Gong Seung-yeon), another college student who is investigating the serial suicides. In 2037, South Korea is now divided into General Earth, a heavily polluted place where crimes are rampant, and Smart Earth, a clean and peaceful city free from crimes. Kim Joon-hyuk (Kim Kang-woo) is a crime detective who tries to get into Smart Earth to investigate a case of twin brothers who went missing in 2017. Each episode contains two parts, the first part is set in 2017 called “Beta Project,” while the second part is set in 2037 called “Brave New World.”

The series follows a group of rich, privileged, and high school students as they are about to take over their families' business empires, overcoming difficulties and growing every step of the way.

Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho) is a wealthy heir to a large Korean conglomerate called Jeguk Group.[9] He was exiled to the U.S. by his brother Kim Won (Choi Jin-hyuk), who tries to take control of the family business.[10] While in the States, he meets Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye), who went there to look for her sister.[11] Despite being engaged to Yoo Rachel (Kim Ji-won), a fellow heiress, Kim Tan soon falls in love with Eun-sang. When Kim Tan returns to Korea, his former best friend turned enemy Choi Young-do (Kim Woo-bin) begins picking on Eun-sang to irritate Tan. Tension ensues when Young-do also falls in love with Eun-sang, and Kim Tan is forced to choose between responsibility of pursuing the family business or love.

13. Laughter in Waikiki (Welcome to Waikiki)

The story of three men who come to run a failing guesthouse called Waikiki. Complications spark when their guesthouse is visited by a single mother and her baby.

14. I’m Not a Robot

Kim Min-kyu (Yoo Seung-ho) lives an isolated life due to a severe allergy to other people. He develops extreme rashes that rapidly spread throughout his body once he makes any form of skin contact. Jo Ji-ah (Chae Soo-bin) is a woman who is trying to make it in life by creating her own businesses. However, after an encounter with Min-kyu, she ends up pretending to be a robot in place of the supposed Aji 3 robot. The Aji 3 robot was developed by Ji-ah's ex-boyfriend, professor Hong Baek-kyun (Um Ki-joon) and his team. The robot was meant to be tested by genius Min-kyu, however an accident caused the robot's battery to malfunction. As Baek-kyun modeled the robot after Ji-ah, the team ends up recruiting her to take the place of Aji 3.

15. Because This Is My First Life

House-poor Nam Se-hee (Lee Min-ki) and homeless Yoon Ji-ho (Jung So-min), both unmarried in their thirties, start living together as housemates.

Predictions : Academy Award Film Nominations (2020)

Here we are, the 2020 awards season, and we’re already staring down the path leading to the Academy Award ceremony, where the world famous Oscar trophy are handed out.  Most movie years start out a bit on the slow side, but 2020 already has some heavy hitters out, and with 2019 dropping some mega-sized bombs right near year’s end, movie fans are in a frenzy.  In what is becoming a new tradition, I will be providing my thoughts and predictions for the Academy Awards for the categories I feel fit to, and we will all return following the Sunday, February 9 televised ceremony.

thoughts : Having seen six of the nine movies making up this year’s Best Picture category, I think I have a pretty fair read on the year... Ford v Ferrari, with its monster cast and iconic titular namesakes, could make a steal, as could the adaptation of the classic book Little Women, but for my money’s worth, I’m hoping that my pick is not relegated to the international award section.   prediction : Parasite (dir. thoughts : The names in this category are some of the heaviest hitters in the industry right now.  After a very long career of snubs, I’d like to think that Leonardo DiCaprio is due another round of recognition, but I think everyone knows where this award is heading. prediction : Joaquin Phoenix (Joker)

thoughts : This is going to be a tough category to determine.  Renee Zellweger is coming off of a strong Golden Globes win, and the power of the Johansson and Theron names are hard to deny, but this night seems due a breakout star, and I think Greta Gerwig and crew are going to have a night to remember. prediction : Saoirse Ronan (Little Women)

thoughts : I find it odd that Tom Hanks is in this category, as I assumed he was the lead actor in his film... it would lead me to believe that perhaps they are trying to better his chances for an award.  With a field full of legends, however, that doesn’t seem like an automatic for Hanks, and in all honesty, I think the young legend is a shoo-in for this one. prediction : Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood)

thoughts : Another category full of the cream of the crop.  This category, upon first sight, appears that it will skew towards a breakout star or a someone like Johansson, who is crystalizing her legend status, but you’ve gotta hand it to Netflix for throwing a monkey-wrench into all that. prediction : Laura Dern (Marriage Story)

thoughts : This is a complete toss-up.  There is not a single weak name on this list, and each of these projects could arguably be considered the best of their respective works.  This could easily be a self-celebratory, unofficial legend award, but in a perfect world, I know exactly where I want this award to go. prediction : Bong Joon Ho (Parasite)

thoughts : The range of adapted works this year was quite impressive.  Even the superhero genre got a strong entry via Todd Phillips and Joker, which is arguably one of the most compelling films of the year.  As mentioned earlier though, I’ve got a feeling that one of my favorite actresses turned directors is poised to formally introduce herself to the world.  prediction : Greta Gerwig (Little Women)

thoughts : My heart wants to send this award Quentin Tarantino’s way, as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood being a mind-blowing work from a director that I thought had shown us most every trick in his book.  Rian Johnson and Noah Baumbach flexed their muscle in the best ways that they know how, and Sam Mendes is making major waves as well, but I’m going to need this award to go international this year. prediction : Bong Joon-ho and Jin Won Han (Parasite)

thoughts : The Lighthouse was a mind-scrambler.  The Irishman showed that Scorsese could walk the walk after talking big talk.  Joker echoed a bygone style and era perfectly, as did Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, although in a much more nuanced manner.  For those in the know, however, one name jumps off this list, and if the pre-awards buzz is any indication, that name is basically a lock.  prediction : Roger Deakins (1917)

thoughts : When I think about production design, I initially think about being transported to another world and time.  From there, I think about the range of looks that we are provided.  There are two strong war movies on the docket, plus a classic from a legend and one of the year’s most beautiful films, but this one has to go to team Tarantino, in my opinion. prediction : Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood)

Bombshell Joker Judy Maleficent : Mistress of Evil 1917

thoughts : With tons of period pieces in the mix, this is automatically a tough category.  On top of that, one of the aspects where Bombshell stood out was in the makeup and hair department.  As mentioned previously, however, there was a 2019 box office winner that may find itself the winner of a handful of consolation prizes at the Oscars.   prediction : Joker

thoughts : A period piece is almost always a shoo-in for costume design, and the grander the stage, the higher the chances of winning.  Cool style will get you so far, and war style (depending on the war) can get you a bit further, but once you cross that line into the world of tea parties and high society, any effort shown in the costuming department will nearly certainly reap a reward. prediction : Jacqueline Durran (Little Women)

Avengers : Endgame The Irishman 1917 The Lion King Star Wars : The Rise of Skywalker

thoughts : My head says The Lion King, the hype machine is telling me 1917, and the cinema snob in me sees The Irishman making a surprise win.  That being said, there’s only one iconic franchise on this list, and said franchise is connected to the hip with special effects. prediction : Star Wars : The Rise of Skywalker
