actually i drew that before i ever got into the simpsons!! at the time (feb 2020) whatever i knew of the simpsons was only whatever he posted or talked about w me, and he loves the sid & nancy segment with nelson & lisa, so it was the perfect gift idea :) in 2019 i actually drew his older lisa design for his bday bc it was also the launch of his springkids comic at the time!! so really this year is the first time i’m drawing simpsons stuff for myself bc i FINALLY got into the show lmao. but he’s been a lifelong fan so he’s been simpsoning WAY before we got together

REQUEST for the bday bby!! 

a/n: I hope you like it! sorry if it’s super short or if there’s any typos, I wanted to make sure you got it today (well, today my time ahah) HAPPY BIRTHDAY <3

"It'll be fun, you said! It'd be a breeze! It comes naturally, you said!" He moans out loud, his legs stiff and bent at the knee as his hand clutches the side rail tightly.

Seokmin swears that he doesn't remember agreeing to this—agreeing to going ice skating with you but considering it was your birthday, he agreed to take you anywhere you wanted and do anything you wanted, so here he was clutching on the rail of an ice skating rink like a clumsy fool with no coordination whatsoever and there you were floating and gliding easily around the rink like a true figure skater.

If he was a judge, he’d give you the highest number he could times infinity to the power of infinity plus infinity times infinity. 

Times another infinity.

And even then, it still wouldn’t do you justice.

You slowly skate in front of him and stifle a laugh at the scene before you, your boyfriend's knees quivering in skates that barely move an inch per minute on the transparent ice and his hunched over figure along the edge of the rink.

"I didn't say that, you're just putting words in my mouth now." You cross your arms cutely, tucking your gloved hands under your elbows.

"Please tell me I get to choose what we do on the next date." Seokmin pouts, moving one leg in a quick swipe forward and almost losing his balance.

He hurriedly rushes to regain his balance with use of the rail and just then, a little boy skates past him with ease, lifting one leg in front of you both as he glides away, leaving Seokmin in a dumbfounded gaze. "W-what? How?"

"Seokmin baby," you shift closer to him, still skating backwards perfectly and avoiding other skaters running their laps in the rink. "It just takes some getting used to, you have to let go of the rail if you wanna skate like that."

"Easy for you to say, you're the pro at this." He quickly mutters under his breath, inching closer and closer as you effortlessly move next to him, taking one of his arms. You two watch a woman attempting to lift her leg away from the ice but she loses her balance and falls to the floor, laughing it off and quickly rising from the ice. "Okay, maybe I don't wanna skate like that."

"How about if you skate without the railing… you get to choose the next date." You proposition him, looping your arm tight to your body and watching him actively think about your proposition. Slowly, Seokmin takes a big breath and lets it out, beginning to loosen his ironclad grip on the guard rail and starting to balance his weight between the skates and you.

He immediately reaches for your hand to hold and you let him capture your hand into yours, his nails digging into your gloved palms and into your skin.

You coach Seokmin through the same instructions you received when you were younger, the simple steps to being able to glide freely and effortlessly on the ice. Without fail, Seokmin nods through your guidance and builds up the courage to straighten his legs and remove his weight off you, confidently standing up and pushing off each foot to match your steady pace.

"There you go! You're doing it!" You proudly smile, hovering your hands away from his. His nose and cheeks are a rosy red from the chill of the building and if anything, it makes the sparkle in his eyes and the white of teeth shine even brighter. 

Seokmin's hand grabs yours again and he makes sure to interlock his fingers with yours gently, taking the lead as you both circle around the rink. He only nearly seriously falls once, runs into three little children freely skating around, and accidentally squeezes your fingertips too hard twice, which is a new record.

"Okay, how about letting go of me now?" You chuckle, a mischievous grin on your face when he turns his head slightly. He guides you and him to the railing and he hugs the side with his free hand, keeping his other laced with yours.

"What?" His eyes go wide and you swear his eyes well up into huge puppy dog eyes and it makes you laugh. "Why?"

"Please," you mimic the same puppy dog eyes towards him and jut out your bottom lip for an added effect. "For me."

You both try to pout even harder at each other but Seokmin breaks first and ends up laughing, tapping your nose with his finger. "You win, you win." He sulks with a fake eye roll, "You always win."

"That I do." You stick your tongue out at him and glide away from him, stopping at the opposite end of the rink and standing perfectly still in your skates, "C'mon, just skate over to me and I'll hold your hand again. Simple."

You watch Seokmin prepare himself and shake out his nerves before pushing himself off the side and keeping his eyes glued to you and not his feet. His hands are outstretched for you and you can't help but smile at his determined demeanor.

At the very last moment, a little girl whirls past Seokmin and spooks him, throwing him off his focus and making him frantically lose his balance. He falls on his knees and manages to slide right beside where you're standing, his eyes completely shut and his mouth contorted into an uneasy frown.

"Seokmin!" You gasp and get down on the ice with him, waving away worried bystanders with a comforting smile and nod. Your hand begins rubbing Seokmin's arm and he peeks one eye open and glances around the rink, "I didn't hit the little girl, did I?"

You shake your head, Seokmin's complete and utter focus on making sure he didn't hurt someone—accidental, intentional or not—making your heart flutter. "No, she flew right past you at lightning fast speed."

"Oh thank God." He groans, releasing a breath and showing a grateful smile. "Okay, that wasn't so bad. I mean—not the part where my life flashed before my eyes, but I still made it over to you."

"Mhmm, and now, I think that's enough ice skating for today." You carefully help Seokmin to your feet and begin to head for the ice rink's exit, stepping onto the mats and squatting down on the benches.

You take off your hat and your gloves and help Seokmin loosen the ties on his skates, smiling at the little polar bear face on the head of the white cap you bought him, the length of the ears dancing on the tops of his shoulders as he struggles pulling his shoes back on.

He notices you watching him and smiles bashly at you, beaming proudly at you before kissing your cheek. 

You muse out loud to him, fiddling with the tight knot on your laces, "So what did you see when your life flashed before your eyes?"

Seokmin lowers himself off the bench and helps you with the knots, removing the skates from your feet and grinning up at you, "You and me together... cooking, living together, going out on more dates like this, okay maybe not doing this, but something else." He rises up and kisses you sweetly, smiling against your lips. "Happy birthday baby."
