Can i hear about Thin Ice?!? i’m oh so very intrigued

Thin Ice is apart of my maybe we were born for this series which is a series of short(ish) cannon compliant fics based on a number of events that i headcannon to have happened in cannon. (in other words they're my cannon)

Thin Ice is about my darling Amelia Bones and tells her story from her first day of Hogwarts to her death.

I headcannon Amelia to be a Hufflepuff in the year above the Marauders and to be really close friends with her twin brother Edgar, Fabian and Gideon Prewett, Benjy Fenwick, Caradoc Dearborn and Pandora Lovegood (and to be deeply in love with Pandora but not say anything because Pandora didn't love her back and Amelia was too scared to come out)

I also hc her to be a skilled figure skater so the fic is based around her having a "last dance" of sorts and reflecting on her life as she does.

i'm so in love with Amelia and i can't wait to finish this fic i'm really proud of it so far :)

Jamie, Amelia’s older brother, had been exactly what their parents needed him to be; top of his class, prefect, head boy, became a healer and married his high school sweetheart all before the age of 20. He had three daughters, Rebecca, Susan and Noelle just as his parents wanted for him.

Amelia herself liked to think that she was close to being perfect. At school, she was a prefect and head girl, and becoming the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement with a seat on the Wizengamot was certainly something to be proud of. Only she never married and was, even at the age of 37, childless. Close to what her parents wanted for her, but not quite.

Edgar, Amelia’s twin, younger by seven minutes, was different. He started out like his elder siblings, prefect and Quidditch Captain. But he didn’t do well in his lessons, he became an Auror because his friends did. He joined a war because he felt pressured due to his job and never made it out. Edgar didn’t follow the path his parents laid out for him and he died. Edgar didn’t do what his parents wanted him to do and he died.

Sometimes, Amelia liked to blame her parents for her brother’s death, and sometimes it was Jamie who got the blame, every now and then Emmeline Vance would be the one Amelia was cursing out or Elizabeth Harvey, but most of the time when people asked how her brother died, it would be a mirror that her eyes would divert to.

You, she’d tell herself. You did it.

Because while Amelia was too busy twirling, Edgar stepped on the ice and fell straight through.

story time - the meeting

"Thanks for meeting me Mrs. Harvey. I know you're a busy woman. Lovely weather we're having today, isn't it?"

Noelle smiles politely at the woman sitting across from her. She looks like she is already done with the conversation that hasn't even started. "Yes, just peachy." Unsettling silence ensues between the two and Cherie starts to speak again. "Anyway, you made it sound so urgent but..." She looks Noelle up and down, "Clearly, no urgency here." She sighs and waves her hand for Noelle to continue. "Oh, um yes, I mean no; nothing urgent but I just wanted to talk to you about attending our wedding, I know Kit won't admit it but he wants-" "Ms. Cutler, with all due respect I think I know my son better then his 3 year girlfriend." She snarls, "I told him already I'm busy, I have meetings all that week that I cannot miss." "Okay, but this is such a big event for your son, your child and I just guess I don't understand how how a mother could disregard such a thing for something like work." Noelle snaps back, and stares Cherie down. Cherie looks to be a little stunned but regains her composure. "You have no right talking to me like that, considering I'm your soon-to-be mother-in-law! Plus you don't know anything about being a mother, so I suggest you watch your mouth with senseless comments." "You won't be at our wedding so why would I even call you my mother-in-law? You're a stranger for crying out loud Cherie!" Noelle can't help but think of Kit and how he must feel, all these years and his mother is practically a stranger to him, let alone her. She's at her boiling point with this woman. "All I'm saying is, a REAL mother would show their love to their children and nurture them, not turn them away!" Cherie gathers her things and begins to stand up. "We're done here Noelle. I've taken enough of your nonsense and slander. I could sue you for defamation of character." She continues to leave the area but Noelle won't let her have the last words.

Born into a family with a vast legacy.

Noelle was the opposite of Andre in many ways but their bond grew out of mutual respect and his kind hearted nature taking her by surprise. He wasn’t trying to compete with her like most people had.

Their families joint businesses grew over the years and in their international reach. Their reputation preceded them and only the highest quality products, weapons or wine, were produced by DuPont Industries.

When they had kids, his focus changed from supporting just Noelle to helping raise their kids. Noelle was much better at her job as CEO than Andre was at most things. Though, not being a vintner. Andre was genetically predisposed to wine making and it was more of his passion than running a huge company ever was.

When they moved to the states to help Liliana pursue her dream of figure skating, he would travel back to France on business throughout the year but made it a priority to be there for every major competition Lily had or every game Harvey played in. 

When controversy overshadowed Lily’s accomplishments, his heart broke for his daughter. 

Since then, Andre has been more mindful of his kids, checking in with them more frequently to see that they’re doing well.

He acquired Kinship Landing about ten years ago and worked on renovations. It’s a bit of his pet project in town, when he’s not preoccupied with DuPont Industries, the vineyards back in France or his family.

this year’s been kinda nuts for me artwise

i got clip studio paint in may and first of all, amazing program. second of all, the sheer quality of even the default brushes? so good. obsessed. never going back.

all in all i felt like i didn’t accomplish much this year despite accomplishing... so much irl. hitting important milestones felt less important than it ever has in my life and that made me feel like i must not have been doing too good in the art department, either, but...

having this neat little visual proves otherwise. i did something i was proud of almost every month this year despite the melancholy.

so no matter how difficult next year may be, at least something good can still come out of it. happy holidays, guys, and don’t take yourself or your work for granted. your life is more than just the struggles you experience <3
