one thing that always gets me whenever i read inuyasha modern au fics is that inuyasha is supposedly "the slacker" or the guy who doesn't try hard on anything academia related, and that always struck me as odd bc you're telling me inuyasha wouldn't be competing with, say, koga for rank 1? that he wouldn't study his ass off in the subjects he's actually interested in? that he wouldn't pour his everything into extracurriculars he cares about? he has his aloof moments in canon but ultimately he's a hard worker and i think that trait should be reflected in aus!
plus if we're thinking about the setting here, inuyasha's canon behavior is greatly influenced by his upbringing (and later lack thereof). putting him in an environment (modern au, lack of youkai discrimination) where his talents are cultivated instead of looked down upon would give us a very different character. it's always interesting to me whenever i see canon-typical inuyasha behavior in an au where his mom is alive because it suggests that his mistrust and gruff behavior are just part of his personality and not largely a result of childhood events. i feel like modern aus are an opportunity to see how he might have grown if not for the death of his mother + father & the consistent threat looming over him as a child. what would his personality be like then? how would his first meeting with kagome go considering that? his dynamics with his older brother? his goals? it's something that could be explored in a fic taking place in the feudal realm but it's kind of difficult to just subtract the discrimination aspect that comes with that setting...just things to think abt ig!

B, C, K, N, P, S ❤️️
Ooooh... I really had to think about some of these.
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
I feel like often I haven't considered a pairing until I read a fic that does it really well or that gives me a premise I can get behind, but the only time someone, as in another person specifically talking to me, changed my mind was when a friend from one fandom suggested I might enjoy a fic from a different fandom we were both in… so I read an FMA Ed/Roy mpreg fic that I would not have otherwise given the time of day to… and I really enjoyed it ngl.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
Sesshomaru/Kagome from the Inuyasha fandom. I do not understand why this pairing was so popular. If you want to hook Sesshomaru up with a human woman, Sango is standing right there ffs, she is such a better choice, lmao. I don't really get Reylo either, and there are plenty of other het ships that just make me scratch my head.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Wesley Wyndam-Price from Buffy/Angel. I love this man, and I love his development from someone who has no idea what the fuck is actually going on, to developing both physical and interpersonal competence, to finding a real family, to losing it through accidentally following some bad advice and betraying everyone, to finding love, to losing everything. His devotion to Fred makes a primordial, demonic, god-being care enough to help the protagonists fight an overwhelming army. I mean come on. This might be the one character I really did not mind at all that Whedon killed, because I felt like he had done everything and achieved everything he could possibly achieve and there was nowhere else for him to go. Perfection💔don't tell me anything about the comics i don't care
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
For the fandom of Stargate in general…
More alien headcanons!! There are some really great people writing some fantastic fics for the Wraith, so I'm going to complain specifically about how I want more fics and HC for the Nakai and Ursini in SGU. Also the Reol from SG1 ("The Fifth Man”) have SUCH potential, I want to see more of them!!
I would love to see more SGU people in SGA plots, if that makes sense. (I have a fic where Sheppard gets booted as military Commander, and I'm thinking of replacing him with Telford. 🤔)
more crossover ideas in general, within the Stargate brand. What if Vala and Cam came to visit Atlantis while Sam was there?  What if the whole gateing-through-the-sun-time-warp thing sent Rush to Pegasus instead and he ran into Todd? What if “Rising” was actually “Solitudes” and Sheppard and O'Neill are the ones trapped under a bunch of ice when their chopper puts down unexpectedly to dodge the drone?  (I just think it would be neat.🙂)
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
The last question had a 3 in it so my brain stuck on that track and I came up with 3 SGU AUs I'd like to see
The Lucian Alliance doesn't attack as they're dialing Destiny in ep 1 and even though they have to evacuate bc the planet's about to explode, everyone who doesn't want to go through the gate can beam up to Carter’s ship and evac to Earth. So it's a tense situation but there's enough time and focus that Telford and O'Neill get to send the “right people team" that they wanted to send. I wonder who that was? Presumably this team was already on Icarus base, it just contained fewer civilians. I'd like to see them not do any better, or mess up in different ways.
Everything happens the same, but Camille is more assertive sooner and gets Young and Rush to stop being such dicks to each other, and everyone has a more mentally healthy experience.
When I first read the title of the s1 finale “Incursion,” I thought it was going to be about the Nakai returning. So, an AU where that happens, OR both the Nakai and the Lucian Alliance show up to invade Destiny on the same day and everything is chaos ❤️
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
Wow, I really don't know if I can answer this… I feel like everything I think about the characters is my headcanon to an extent? And what I canon in my head changes for every fic. I think I HC the Wraith as being a lot more into casual touch than they are shown in canon, that just jumps to mind. (But like, there's not much to them, socially, in canon, so it's really all hc, and I don't think I can list all the backstory/society I've made up for them across several fics.) Narrow the question down a bit and I can maybe do better.😂
Thanks for the ask! 💖

A different take on SessKag relationship or why it would be more realistic than InuKag.
Let me begin with
Sesshomaru's and Kagome's past and how they are similar.
Sesshomaru had always been a very sentimental and emotionally receptive being. He had loved and cherished his dad the most. Loving and competing with him, wanting to surpass him, desiring recognition and acceptance so much so that his entire world revolved around his father. He did not want the swords because they were powerful or the bs about supreme conquest. What is that shit? Sesshomaru never needed that. The swords, especially Tessaiga was the most important acceptance to Sess. I will get back to this later.
Now Kagome. This kid was born and then we never saw her dad even when she was a kid. Another classic case of growing without a dad? Perhaps. But I feel her grandpa filled her missing dad's place. That is why the kid grew up in a lovely household, filled with love and peace and made Kagome what she was later on, a selfless girl who wants to love and protect her friends. Because that is what she learnt. Her grandpa, mom, everyone and her own family dynamics taught her how important it was to cherish the ones she loved.
What they initially thought of Inuyasha in their life
Now back to Sess. When his dad died, he dies saving Izayoi. What is the thing he feels at the time I wondered. Surely devastated? Yes, but even worse. His most important person, his goal, the thing his life revolved around was gone. And for what? To protect a weak, useless bitch like Izayoi? Here is a thing, he never knew Izayoi but knew the hut had collapsed on his dad when Izayoi had escaped. What can a teen feel when they hear such a thing? 'That useless bitch, ran away when my dad was in danger and cost him his life. Fuck that bitch and that kid they made. Useless, all humans are useless and weak.' This was really where his hatred came from. Probably.
Kagome on the other hand from the beginning was shown as a selfless kid, who loved both humans and demons alike. Reason? She had never lived in the feudal era. She was a kid grown in a society where everyone is placed on a equal pedestal. How would she, a modern kid understand the bad blood between demons and humans? If she were ever born in Feudal Japan, would things have changed? Maybe. Then she falls into a world where nothing was similar to where she was from. She was frightened, unsure and confused. And then Inuyasha came into her life. Honestly their first meeting was not romantic and pretty terrific in a sense. That was a weird day for Kagome. She fell into an alien world only heard in fairy tales, got involved in a weird prophecy, learnt she was a mythical sort of being herself and then got attacked by a guy who had saved her only seconds before, all ready to rip her heart out. In such a case, the 'osuwari' was probably a safe word for her. Why she uses it later in the series? Probably because she never trusted Inuyasha and felt more comfortable using a word which gave her power over him. Honestly, what would you expect? Kisses and love showers?
Analysis: Kagome was still scared of Inuyasha for a long time and did not trust him completely.
Before Inu no Taisho's tomb battle
Kagome before this went home and then cane back because she felt that fixing the Shikon was her duty. More honestly, she just returned coz Yura attacked and she wanted her family to be safe. Here I want to take some time to gush over how cool Kagome is. Intelligent, smart and extremely powerful. How she understood that Yura's skull was her weakness and breaks the god forsaken thing with just an arrow. That is some level of OPness. Who says Kags is useless?
Anyways, after that when Inuyasha called her 'Kagome', a lot of the viewers thought that Kagome was ecstatic because it was romantic and she was in love. But that is bs. It is not possible to love someone a week later they tried to gut your heart out. It is masochistic and unreal. Kagome over here felt a sense of acceptance from a guy who she felt previously hated her enough to kill her. And that to Kagome was a sign of friendship and more like, 'don't worry, I am not at least gonna attempt to kill you anymore.'
Kagome, inheritently a person who gives a hand when given a finger. She accepts Inu as her friend and they were far from being lovers.
It is exactly this time that Sess attacks them. And quite cruely might I say. Bringing Inu's dead mom like that was not funny and Sess was an outright jerk for doing that no matter how much he hated Inu and Izayoi. He is all weird and sarcatic at high levels. And Kags hated him. She hated how he was attacking this one friend she had made in the era. She hated how cruel this bastard was and how much pain her friend was going through. And her own lovely bond with her brother did not help her to look into their complex brotherly bond which seemed to her more like some battle royale. She probaably hated the bitch for showing up and hurting her friend like that even when he, being the older brother should have loved his younger brother and nurtured him like she would do for Souta.
For Sess, it was really weird and shitty all over. A basic human bitch, standing behind Inu like she was weak fawn. Reminded him so much of Izayoi. Someone who never even tried saving his dad. That was why his sarcastic words were like, "Inuyasha, it suits you so much to have a human behind you". Ya and he was irritated by looking at how helpless af the bitch was. He was narcisstic, filipant of Kags presence and all around indifferent to a 'weak human filthy woman', who he felt was just like the one for whom his dad died.
Surprise is how he did not outright murder her. Perhaps he felt like they were worthless and beneath his boots.
Lol, these two are the best.
Inside Inu No Taisho's tomb
Kags was really angry with this bitch who just chained her up, clawed a pearl out of her friend's eye and then jumped into a black hole. That is why she followed with, "This sort of a person, with no blood or humanity in his veins, I cannot forgive him" and then she chased. Even Inu was like, WTF bro. It was fun. Then she spouted lines like, " Take the sword Inuyasha, it will be like a hit to his pride, what a shame!"
How tf did she know about how much his pride hurt him. Lol felt like Kags knew Sess more than Inu ever would and they only met. That was some soulmate level shit right there. Lol!
Then there was Sess who was outright dismissing Kags and she was not even a spec of dust in his eyes. Then she went and pulled that sword out. Remember the scene where he was so surprised that he stopped the battle with Inu and turned around and LOOKED. Like really LOOKED. It was such a heart stopping moment and for good measures as well. He saw a girl, a woman standing there, holding an inheritance which was supposed to be his and she did something he could not. Did Tessaiga accept her then, did his father accept her more than him? He was baffled, confused and low-key awed. That was why he said, "What are you?" And legit measured her top to bottom. That was some turning point for Sess. Something that proved to him that all humans cannot be dismissed. But he was in rage. How can a mere human be worthy of Tessaiga and melted her along with that sword. I wonder if it was his second test to see whether Tessaiga would protect her or not. And then it did!
Sess went ape-shit crazy after that. A sword he desired for so long (The sword used to protect Izayoi was a thorn in his heart. Made him feel like his father had chosen a human over him. But if the sword had accepted him, it would have proved that his dad had still loved him, thought of him). That was the significance of Tessaiga to him. Power sure, but more of an acceptance. His dad's acceptance. And then what happened? The sword preferred a human who then gave it to his damned hated brother.
Aftermath of tomb battle
Kagome never really liked Sess's guts and probably had no form of sympathy towards someone like him. On the other hand things picked up with her and Inu's relation. She came to know some facts about Kik. And her inferiority complex began with her incarnate. But having a part of Kik's soul in her, began her obsession with Inu. She strived to understand him, make a better person of himself. But their relation was still not there to lovers.
Then Sess came across Naraku. He probably just wanted to dick around more with Inu and accepted the human hand.
2nd battle for Tessaiga
Sess's desire to possess the Tessaiga had increased at this point. His rage of having his arm cut off by that sword felt like the worst rejection from his dad. He was going insane and might have wanted to kill Inu for real in this fight. He was in no mood for theatrics in this one, unlike the tomb where he actually watched some InuKag drama and even applauded (lol). He was absolute business this time. He snached the sword and showed Inu exactly why he should not get that sword, 'You cannot even make the wind rift, why should you be more worthy?'
He meant to kill Inu and then Kags arrow sailed in, charging with enough power to even cancel the demonic energy filled into the sword by Sess himself.
His thoughts were for the same reason, " She canceled Tessaiga's transformation? Who is this girl?"
His respect scale jumped for her here. He truly had never met anyone who could rival his power to such extent. He had never met a girl who stood so powerfully in face of danger to protect this some half-breed scum. She was like the embodiment of everything he had hoped Izayoi to be to his dad. A strong woman who would wager her life to save the one she holds dear. Sess had learnt this fact from his dad's death. To sacrifice in name of love and then in this fight he understood how much that meant both for Inuyasha and Kagome. He probably somewhat understood what this feeling was after seeing these two.
Sess had an idea of love and protection and Kags became its centre. She was this vague expectation Sess had of human love and an absolute loyalty towards whom you love most. He felt complicated towards her. He respected her.
3rd Tessaiga battle
Sess's most sceptical battle yet. Why break the tessaiga? 'I will break it if I can't have it!' Desperate much?. Then the wind drift appears and for the first time Sess acknowledges Inu. For maybe being a somewhat worthy of having Taisho's blood, only if a little bit. He is saved by Tenseiga. Oh, how he hated this worthless sword more. This sword could not cut throught things and saves his life. What a worthless shit.
Kagome's narrative here was important. "How can he weild the Tenseiga? He needs a compassionate heart for that." Always wondered why Kags was the one to say this. But realised the reason later on.
Rin
Obviously the most controversial topic of Inuverse. What Sess felt for Rin, why was she there.
Rin has often been compared to be the Kagome version of Sess. And that is the only truth. She came in like a ray of sunshine when he was in most need. He was in self doubt, hate towards Inu and complex emotions towards Kags. And then Rin was there with the exact same face and the same warm feeling like Kags. Even he knew what InuKag were to each other then and no matter how much he respected Kags, he was not really interested in a further relation with Kags. But his deeply unsated desire to understand his dad's mentality and reason behind saving a human was what made him think of Rin. As she was his chance to understand that. His chance to understand why his dad could do that, why Inu could do that and why humans like Kags and Rin could save and love demons. It was not romantic in any sense. He had a confusion and Rin was his way towards a solution. Though it was a different fact that he loved her later on and cherished and protected her. Enough to feel that there was no meaning to his anything if she was not there.
So yes in a way, she is Kags embodiment in Sess's life, a picture of Kags selfless love. His desire to truly understand such beings called selfless humans and the result of his single minded belief of human women being trash and unable to love shattering.
And for fun just to contradict Kags speculations, for first time ever, Sess uses the sword and we viewers realise how wrong Kags was. Sess had every bit of compassion in his heart.
Later events
The events went on with Kags finally understanding her position in Inu's life and her single-minded chase to be accepted by Inu as just Kagome and not Kikyo's reflection. I do not even know if this could be called love or just a misinterpreted need of attention from someone you hold dear. But whatever, we realise Kags is in love with Inu now and still cannot stop from feeling compassion towards Kikyo. Honestly she and Sess are truly two opposite sides of a spectrum.
Sess on the other hand gets Tokijin and attacks Inuyasha. This time around, I highly doubt he was still chasing Tessaiga. It had more evolved into his need to show he is more powerful than Inu. 'What you do best, I can do better.'
Stopping Inu from transforming
In this the most debatable question was whether he was there to stop Inu or not.
Sess had wanted to see and experiment the limits of Inu's blood beast.
After some fighting, Kags jumped in. Sess stared at her, like forever. That staring tho. Even when she was like, "Stay away, you idiot." Sess stared. For Sess, that was what he admired the most in Kags. Her selfless devotion. He was staring at that fearless figure who once again surprised him by being a sacrifice to save her loved ones. She was to Sess what he had always thought of 'love' to be. She was the embodiment of the term 'love' to Sess. For a guy who knew nothing of how to define emotions, it was Kags who showed him what love was. And thus he jumped over and over again in front of Rin to protect her. She taught him how to cherish even the even the most weak individual in a group, and thus he protected Jaken.
Rin was there to show him the same thing everyday. But no matter how much Rin showed him her own loyality, love and warmth, Kags always remained that shining beam to him. I will say later on how I understood this.
Kag's love was the validity of his dad's sacrifice. A way for him to make sense of his dad's mindless death over protecting some weak human.
And in this scene for the first time ever, Kags saw Sess as more than an insufferable pest to her friends. She saw his noble ideals and realised why he was there and thus she thought, "Was he here to save Inuyasha?"
It is very curious as to why Kags was again given these lines. It was probably because her opinion mattered, to Sess it did. And we will see more why in the future.
Random encounters
There was one time when Kags saw Rin while Jaken was trying to steal Tessaiga and she had asked herself, "Why is a little human girl traveling with Sess?' It was again a small thing which she did not need to feel but was very imp. for her development towards Sess. How she started to understand him more.
Kohaku incident
Here we saw how was the first time Sess listened to Kags.
Kags opinion mattered. Inu's mattered and when he realised that Kohaku was being used he let him go. There was one reason that he did not want to be used, the next I am sure was for Kags and Inu. He knew then that Kohaku was imp. to them and he stopped. Big character jump for him.
Then the most curious fact was how Kags knew what the girl meant to him, "Please let him go Sesshomaru, the girl is fine."
Kagome: Thanks Sesshomaru!
Sesshomaru: I just never wanted to be used by Naraku and fall into his trap.
Lol...
Then after Rin left, Kags thoughts about how she had left with Sess and was awed . An important point for her change in feelings towards Sess. She understood the guy was changing and Rin was changing him.
The fun fact was how she was instantly in love with this little girl and that would become important later on.
More random events..
After that it was shown that many times Kags was the only one who could stop a fight bet. the brothers. Example that time when he fought with Inu to get some direction for Naraku. And then Kags came and told him to go north or something and he was like, "That is all I wanted to know." And left.
What is to be seen in these parts is how RT made only him and her interact like this. He listening to her like they have been friends forever.
The saving of Kanta's father was also an example of how much she affected him.
Her plea to save Kanta's dad even when no one believed and no one bothered to ask him. Tensaiga moved because he felt deeply moved by her plea. He might have never wanted to voice it but since Tensaiga only worked when the weilder felt compassion and a need to save someone. Sess must have felt it subconsciously and Tensaiga had stired. Or it had stired because it is a SessKag shipper as well. Lol!
Mukotsu
I wonder how Sess knew Kags was in trouble. Another fun fact like how he appears at times when Inu is not there to save Kags. Sess is there. Probably he knew her scent too well and hence could even distinguish between that and the poison. After that was the gruesome death of Mukotsu. The thing to notice over her was how large Sess looked in that hut doorway, it was a symbolism to how big and huge his protective self looks when he is protecting Kagome. A very romantic thing indeed. The first time he protects someone who is not under his protection. A complete selfless act if considered from his pov. Sess being a very private person and while saving Kagome showed her place in his heart. Yeah and that was very visible from how he killed Mukotsu.
The takeaway from this episode is not this though. It was the fact that Kags defended Sess. For the first time ever, all the good deeds she had seen him doing had outplayed her hatred for him. She accepeted him as a friend with these words, "No Inuyasha, he was here to protect us, he saved us." It was a completely unnecessary detail in the whole scheme of this episode but very important for Sess. Her acceptance matters, her opinion matters and Sess is a Tsundere.
Sesshomaru: I did not save YOU, I just killed him coz he did not answer me properly.
This proved how much she affects him, rattles him and how much her life means to him. And an unspoken promise to himself to protect her when Inu was not around.
Fight with Shishinki
No one ever mentions this fight. But there is a very important SK interaction in here. Something which was important for Sess. Kagome's understanding.
When Sess was lost in the same darkness of never being accepted by his dad, Shishinki made things worse by saying Tenseiga was a cast out of Tessaiga and it was given as a leftover to Taisho's least fav. son. Sesshomaru was hurt, lost, and his daddy issues, his biggest weakness was sharply opened by a knife, cruely and Kagome's words saved him.
Kagome: But there might have been a reason their dad had done this.
Kags belief that Taisho had infact not rejected Sess was like a balm to his soul, the only thing he had needed to hear throughout his life. The thing which made him accept in the end that Tensaiga was there to protect Inuyasha, the thing that was needed to sort of activate Tessaiga and then he finally formed his biggest and truest meido. It was romantic, touching and outright heavenly. Then it was made cute with Inu's awkward concern. It was the best ep. as of yet.
Kagome's deep concern and her understanding of Sess's pain was brilliant and alien level insane. She should not have, but she did and that's why they felt more like soulmates.
Battle with Magatsuhi
Sess had gone batshit crazy when Magatsuhi had hurt Kagome and that had only been worsened by him questioning Sess's honor and pride. Sess had turned full on doggy mode and lost control in that way for the first time since the tomb. And the strike at Magatsuhi's eyes was another symbolism of his revenge for doing shit to Kags eyes and mindfucking her.
RT has always thrown these small hints in between IK drama. Which are brilliant and lovely. Even that one scene where he stands protectively inbetween Kags prostrate body on Kilala and Magatsuhi. Beautiful symbolism, really.
It was also fun to see how Kags half power was sealed by Magatsuhi and Sess's half power was returned via Bakusaiga. I felt that Sess's true acceptance of his protection to Kagome and his detachment from Tessaiga was what made him the true daiyokai and surpass his father. Since somehow Tessaiga has always been linked to protecting Kagome and somehow protecting her might have also been the thing to finding Bakusaiga. The desire to protect her perhaps.
Soul mate mind link theatrics
This is something only some people realise. Sesshomaru and Kagome have been shown not once, but twice to be doing this. Once while fighting for Kohaku's life and the last shard and the other in Naraku's body. Kagome and Sesshomaru had been shown to think in absolute synchronisation. He thinks half the sentence, she completes the rest. Absolute soul mate shit.
SessKag power combo
Shown a lot of time in Inuverse. Sess attacks and Kags completes. A small thing but their timing is insane. And is defintely the best power combo, far better than an InuKag combo.
Fight in Naraku's body
This was the time when Sess finally shows what Kagome means to him. Where she stands and how much he cares for her. She is his FIRST priority. Proof? When Rin and she are in simultaneous danger, he stands there infront of Kags for God knows how long, removing those snake things like he had all the time in the world and once she is awake he is concerned about her well being.
Sess: Those wounds, are those Inuyasha's doing?
And his disappointment in Inuyasha not being able to protect Kags.
Sess: As expected of a half-demon. He lost himself in the bloodlust.
Kags obviously considered Sess to be a friend at this point. A very close friend at that. Family perhaps? Their familiarity here was not missed by anyone. Her defending Inu and then still prioritising Rin over Inu were only somethings we realised this chapter.
The most important was her belief in him.
Manga exclusive,
Kags: I believe that you would be able to do it. Do not fall into Naraku's trap and play his cards that is what he wants. Only you can do this, I know.
Wow, Kags wow...just wow... It is the best actually. She does not believe Inu in this situation but she does Sess. She believes in his protection and she knows her influence on him. This speaks volumes. This shows her unreal connection to him and how they match each other instinctively.
Sess knows her influence. This is his weakness.
The mokomoko scene was truly Sesshomaru's best confession. For him who cannot say much in words, allowed her to fly on mokomoko. Something which everyone of us know has a heavy weightage for Sesshomaru. It is his weapon, his forever companion and his support when he is injured and tired. Offering such a thing to her for whatever reason was truly his way of showing what he exactly feels for her. He cherishes her the most and I could say even more than Rin. Trusts her the most and would jump in front of danger to protect her.
Which is only seen more when he asks her to stay away from the fight because she would be a 'hinderance'. Which means he could not fight if she is in the middle. He would be vulnerable and weak. Intersting, very interesting. Another time where he stood between her and a dangerous blood beast that Inu had become.
The best part was truly him getting concerned when she fell down from the top while removing Tessaiga and then when Magatsuhi tried to possess her.
His anger was so vibrant. "Get away from her!"
What a brilliant thing to say. The possessiveness. The will to protect her. The absolute anger. Brilliant. So much was spoken in those lines.
The best ending though was the SessKag power combo of Bakusaiga and holy arrow. Best ending. Inu was not even much involved in ending Naraku. It was weird how the titular character failed in finishing the main villain with his meido. Shows a lot what SessKag meant to RT.
Big brother
Yes, the iconic scene where fans of all ships shout out that SK is not a romantic ship.
Well over here I want to say that Kagome truly saw Sess as a big brother figure at this point. Part of it was because she still felt that she was in love with Inu and part because she was not receptive to her reactions to Sess and what he truly meant to her at this point. She feels an intimate connection to him but cannot justify the weirdness because she still feels a closeness to Inu so she thinks of him as big brother. Which was a very intimate thing for Kagome to say. She loves him like family and clearly places him higher than the rest of her friends only second to Inu. That was more of a declaring her closeness to Sess rather than a confirmation of her and Inu's relationship. Kags is not a vain character who does things coz they are convinient. She would not call a friend if they are not a friend. And certainly not a big brother if she does not feel so.
Sess actually was relieved, ecsatatic and happy when Jaken informed hin of Kags arrival as was seen in his expression. Very funny actually. Because next second he was called big brother and he was hilariously ticked off. He could not believe what he was being called. Lol that interaction though. It showed how close they ended up being. Even more close than he was to his own brother.
But he accepted the title even if with much pain in his neck and then was really offended when Jaken badmouthed Kagome.
Conclusion: No one badmouths Kagome.
Haaha....end of this long analysis. I tried to analyse it from the character's pov and found some interesting small tidbits and detail that RT had hidden in this story.
Thus I felt that SK would be a more natural ship maybe not outright. Since Sess loves her truly but does not understand the nature of the relation and Kags is still too much blinded by Inu filter a.t.m. Maybe given years when Kags will realise exactly what sort of love she feels for Inu. Which will happen because such a toxic relation like IK should not exist and then she will probably see Sess's love for her.
My Conclusion: SK is a defintive. It will happen with some time and care. When both would mature. But it will happen for sure. All the ingredients are there, the stage has been set just the players have to realise what they feel for each other.

Ok this may just be me but I hate deconstructions. I feel like they are always mean spirited and try to be dark and edgy and thinks that every single person is an asshole because that’s “realistic” when no it’s not. This maybe because I like superhero stories and love it when the heroes overcome their struggles.
I can agree for the most part. Whenever I hear “okay but what if it was dArK--” I’m just okay, gonna stop you right there.

I swear, nothing bothers me more than people who want Miraculous Ladybug to literally just be Yandere Simulator(with Marinette as Ayano, Alya as Info-chan, Adrien as Taro, Chloe as Osana, Lila as Kizana, Kagami as Megami, and Luka as Budo). It just grinds my gears, especially because they're, once again, framing Marinette as a stalker, which just makes her look bad, AND pits all the girls against each other for Mr. Generic Harem Protagonist, once a-fucking-gain. Just go play the actual game, ok?
All I'm hearing is that now I have to ship Ayano and Budo and write a fic where the ghost girl uses fancy fantasy magic to merge her soul with Ayano and lets her actually have emotions, healing her from being a yandere while the ghost girl (in a way) gets to live a life she was cut short of, also allowing Ayano to be happy and go onto be friends with all the rivals.
Extremely convoluted but that’s the only way we get happy endings in this house.

I remember how, when writing Sailor Moon, Naoko Takeuchi refused to bow to older male writers wanted, say, for the girls to be stereotypical manga characters, with one being overweight, one being a stereotypical nerd, etc. But Naoko wanted each of the girls to be beautiful and feminine. While I don't like that they all share a body type, I admire how she didn't listen to grown men when writing for and about young girls. And I can't help but think about how Madoka is the antithesis of all that.
I can appreciate writers who put their foot down to stick to their values. There are limits of course, but yeah, a women writing women probably shouldn’t be listening to a man’s input. I’m sure good advice exists buuut...

What is your ranking of the seasons of the year from most to least favorite and why?
Summer - I work best in the warmth
Spring - Always brings images of flowers blooming to mind
Autumn - Things are getting cold and I don’t like it
Winter - It can go choke for all I care

Someone on TV Tropes actually said that the name Feminist Fantasy should be changed because "feminism excludes men the same way meninism excludes women" and actually had the nerve to link that to the "Not So Different" trope, as if women haven't been excluded throughout the history of almost every human society. Fortunately, someone responded to them in a way that technically amounted to "do your damn research" but I'm still facepalming so hard at TV Tropes' "what about the men" rhetoric.
I feel like I lost braincells reading this.

I feel like in fiction written by men there are only three flaws that female protagonists are allowed to have: clumsy, boy-crazy, or ashamed of their flat chests. I hate it.
Don’t forget, “having to listen to the men for how they’re supposed to feel.”

WHAT ARE YOUR FLASHBACKS TO EVER AFTER HIGH?? I GOTTA KNOW? OMG?
Oh, I’ve seen basically the whole series, though the one I remember most is definitely Epic Winter. It was my favorite one though Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie so I’m biased.
I also like a lot of the “twists” and just--crazy concepts they rolled with, like with Red Riding Hood’s story and how Apple White gets woken up from her slumber.

You're gonna be happy to hear this...I just started watching Cardcaptor Sakura today, and holy shit not only do I love it, but I also love how freaking META it is! I know you said you're not all that knowledgeable about Magical Girl, but this show is AWARE that it's a Magical Girl show! From Tomoyo(the main reason this show is so meta, tbh) realizing Sakura is a Magical Girl and asking if she has a transformation pose, to designing outfits for her(more on that later) to videotaping her(aka literally making a Magical Girl anime out of her Magical Girl friend), it just has fun with itself and plays with Magical Girl tropes without making a mockery of them like all those "dark" male-aimed ones do(lookin' at you, Madoka Magica and Yuki Yuna!).
And not only is it hilarious and adorable(especially with Sakura's crush on Yukito, Tomoyo's crush on Sakura, and Touya picking on Sakura, but playfully), but I love how it's riddled with girl power. While watching some of the first episodes I was looking forward to seeing Syaoran(partly because I love male Tsunderes and partly because I can't pronounce his name), and was surprised that he wasn't in the first few episodes, but more importantly I was so happy to see a show that treats its female characters with respect and shows women unironically receiving support from other women and being shown possessing power and authority.
I love Sakura and Tomoyo's friendship even if I hate the trope of "Lesbian Never Gets The Girl"(not that I think she's entitled to Sakura's affections or anything, but still.) and watching her support Sakura in her magic endeavors without being jealous or vindictive, I love that they're allowed to be independent and smart but that the show doesn't forget that they're kids, instead of making them like Manon and Chris, and I love that the show passes the Bechdel test in pretty much the first or second episode, and that pretty much every important and unimportant character we meet that's not Sakura's family members, Kero, or Yukito(plus maaaayyybe the Shadow Clow Card) are female.
Even little things, like all FOUR of Tomoyo's bodyguards in the second episode being female without there being a "reason" or the show making a big deal of it(either in a "yay girl power!" way or a "what but women can't x" way or an objectifying way) fills me with insurmountable joy. Also, I love that the show follows the Magical Girl trend of pretty much admitting that femininity is power, since frilly dresses are stated to be the most "fitting" thing for a Cardcaptor to wear, as without it, they might not be mentally up to the task, and this is an unironic truth rather than a joke(although Sakura is shown to be embarrassed, but it's much more likely that she's simply not used to that kind of gear due to not being rich as Tomoyo is.) or a gag.
I just thought I should tell you this because I know you like Cardcaptor Sakura, and with the crappy episodes that just came out of this show, I think you deserve to read an ask that's about a GENUINE girl power Magical Girl show, instead of yet more Miraculous Ladybug salt or Madoka Magica hate(not that there's anything wrong with either of those two, but it just gets grating after a while.). Overall, I'm looking forward to watching this show, since I've been looking for a Magical Girl show to watch nowadays(I've been meaning to watch Star Twinkle Precure but I can't find the third episode and all of Cardcaptor Sakura is on YouTube now, so.). So excited!
Hey, I’m glad that you’re having fun with it!
Though, just a warning, you might wanna steer clear of the Clear Card arc. It’s a sequel to the original series made waaaay after the original (think the equivalent of Yashahime for Inuyasha, though continuing with the original characters) but omg I hated it.

With the crappy Season 4 episodes that just came out I'm glad I got into Cardcaptor Sakura when I did. Who needs "Marinette needs to make a mistake every episode and learn something from it" when you can have genuine girl power and sweetness incarnate?
Alya could never compete with Tomoyo, I’m just sayin’.

Your comment about white men feeling "disenfranchised" because more shows are about black people and/or women(I say and/or because the two aren't mutually exclusive.), as if there aren't a million other things they could be watching instead is so true! It reminds me of how I was talking to someone recently about the new generation of MLP, in which I stated that we didn't need a male mane pony(spoiler alert: they have one, sadly.), and he claimed that it would be beneficial since many shows aimed at boys at least try to include at least one main girl, and that it would be good for G5 of MLP to have at least one strong male lead so that boys could have a role model and know that the show isn't "girly".
Okay, so far, so good, but this I could chalk up to just unconscious internalized misogyny, especially since he didn't say it in any sort of "way". So I respectfully told him that the scale regarding representation is already not equal and that boys can look up to girls and that a show being girly is not a bad thing and all that stuff that you already know about. Then he responded claiming some stuff about how he keeps trying to pitch stories about straight white male characters and how nobody is accepting his offers and so this means that straight white men are underrepresented compared to everyone else. He even explicitly said, and I quote "White people are actually critically underrepresented in media right now. Especially boys."; I swear to the Goddess above.
At this point I was officially upset as a black girl, to hear this white(and presumably adult) man telling me that he was underrepresented in media compared to me, even saying that the media execs are practicing "quotas and tokenization"(and yes, he repeatedly used those terms for any instance of representation, even when I asked him politely to stop.) by replacing women with men or white people with pocs and are making white men look like incompetent doofuses.
He also kept saying stuff about how shows are always shoehorning people of color in where they don't belong by casting them in settings such as Shakespeare and medieval times when "realistically" there were no people of color during those time periods(which is obviously not true, it's just not what the history books show us.), and made a really insensitive comment about how black children in the USA today don't know the significance of having the first black president because the media supposedly already shows them black people in various professions(despite also claiming he couldn't speak to the "black experience" and yet here he is whitesplaining that shit.).
It got to the point where he was seriously and unironically using the word "blackwashing". When I pointed out to him that white men aren't underrepresented and that it's just his self-centered ego telling him that they are, that the word "blackwashing" isn't a thing, and that mis/underrepresentation in media DOES affect black kids negatively(even citing myself as an example) he went on to claim that I was being tone-deaf and that "blackwashing" is just as bad as whitewashing, and that making Ariel black is just as bad as making Jasmine white.
At this point I had to bang my head on the table and explain to him the difference; his ass still wouldn't get it. Eventually he started saying some really skeevy and hypocritical shite that white men say all the time when whining about how "oppressed and underrepresented" they are: that black people and/or women
(it looks like there might be an ask missing here, in which case, sorry if Tubmlr ate it!)
avor of supporting the commonly believed LIE that "women and/or minority groups don't have as much history worth learning about, so there's no point in focusing on them." He also kept using patronizing, condescending, mansplaining language such as "let me explain it to you" or "you still don't get it do you?", and when he said women had nothing to contribute to society because "oppression" he even had the nerve to tack on "welcome to the unequal society" as if I hadn't been lecturing him about just that.
Because obviously only white men did anything worthwhile or important in history. At this point, I had to block him. I couldn't take it anymore and this was on an MLP site of all places(although I'm probably just as guilty of that part, but at least I wasn't an ass!). I just can't stand white men who "want to be oppressed so bad" but still want to claim that their achievements are more important and deserve to be more prominent. Honestly, so many white men are so fragile the second they're not in the spotlight. I can't help but think that despite all the privilege afforded to their class being a white man sounds like the worst thing ever.
“he claimed that it would be beneficial since many shows aimed at boys at least try to include at least one main girl, and that it would be good for G5 of MLP to have at least one strong male lead so that boys could have a role model and know that the show isn't "girly". “
I might be looking too deep into that but I don’t like the idea of, “Well WE squeezed in a girl and therefore YOUR SHOWS--” like it’s some sort of matter of “fairness” or that boys’ shows aren’t putting in girls out of a genuine like for them but because they “need” one or it’s some sort of obligation.
Also, we need to stop this idea that boys can’t look up to female characters and vice versa for girls. You already said it but yeah.
And yeah, I hear "quotas and tokenization" and I officially tune out of whatever the person is saying, lol. White men are critically underrepresented???? Newsflash, maybe it’s just because others are being represented more??
Just the whole thing about whites being “underrepresented” boggles my mind. White people don’t have some sort of special ability or skill that other races can’t do themselves unless you count the “superpower” of white privilege.
Like, oh my god, all that “whitesplaining” and having to read the word “blackwashing” was physically painful. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I don’t know how they got hold of the technology to communicate with you from whatever time period their from, presumably the Stone Age.
Don’t even blame you for blocking them. There’s just a level of absolute... blindness? Arrogance??? That comes with the territory with them sometimes, I swear. You had every right to be upset; other races come to ask for equality and fair representation and suddenly you have these white men (not all obviously but damn) coming by and crying that they’re being oPpReSsEd. U_U
Like, honestly, my father in particular is absolutely that kind of person so I’ve heard that kind of stuff before. it’s all gross.
On a slightly unrelated note (trying to end this with some positivity), I hadn’t even heard about a fifth generation of MLP until I read this, and just wanted to let you know that I really hope you have a really good time with it! Hopefully the male character isn’t... well, you know.

InuKag Failure to the Extreme
https://www.deviantart.com/antoni-matteo-garcia/art/Fricking-InuKag-Failure-to-the-Extreme-855923556
This screenshot demotivational poster is highly, highly Anti-InuKag and Anti-Kagome. For those of you who like this pairing, please take what I say with a grain of salt. As for all of my beloved fellow InuKag and Kagome haters, by all means, revel in the evisceration I have in store for my biggest NOTP in the series. Whilst I am satisfied that Inuyasha ended with Naraku's annihilation on a somewhat satisfactory note and I am also anticipating the release of Yashahime, I always come back to one of my biggest NOTPs of all time, the dreaded InuKag, with sentiments of disinterest, jadedness, and major indifference. I did not care that Inuyasha and Kagome ended up reuniting in the slightest iota, as Kagome had to make Inuyasha wait for three years until she graduated from High School and went back to the Feudal Era to be reunited with him. From what The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass proved, even with Naraku defeated, everyone went their separate ways, and I firmly convict that I would have been fine if the series ended with Miroku and Sango finally having their children, and Inuyasha and Kagome ending being single. But, no. All I saw was this "melodrama" about Kagome still thinking of Inuyasha and I just thought to myself, girl, are you even for real? If you even wanted to stay with Inuyasha, you could have just ditched your high school thing once and for all and lived with him. If you wanted to graduate high school, in spite of the numerous absences you accrued, do it. But, for Pete's sake, Kagome, get your freaking priorities straight! I cannot even forget the numerous occasions where Inuyasha and Kagome would argue and argue to their hearts' content then develop feelings for each other then go back to their old ways. However, all I have to say about their fart of a relationship and fart of a romance shall be saved for another story. Suffice it to say, I was and will never be impressed by how stressful, annoying, and viscerally unhealthy Inuyasha's and Kagome's relationship has been. One cannot deny that these two have worked together in gathering the Shikon Jewel shards and defeating Naraku amongst many other enemies, but this was Kagome's fault for starting the Shikon Jewel shard hunt, and she barely took any responsibility for it, even though she can sense them. Moreover, Inuyasha has been through so much trauma, pain, and anguish due to the loss of Kikyou and the emotional burden he had to go through as a hanyou, as all of these horrible experiences still feel like yesterday, especially when it came to the realization that Naraku dared to manipulate both Inuyasha and Kikyou into betraying and hating each other. Kagome only had to go through the loss of her father while being raised by her single mother and her grandfather and looking after her younger brother Souta, who is a whole lot more competent than Kagome will ever be. Moreover, do not even get me started on her stupid jealousy of Kikyou, which was made Miroku, Sango, and Shippou all act like her little posse trying to butter her up. She never comprehended the depth of Inuyasha's failure to protect Kikyou from Naraku because he still had to live with the trauma. The mere fact that Miroku, Sango, and Shippou constantly sided with Kagome made her nothing more than a manipulative, low-down, good-for-nothing, spoiled brat who was so used to getting her own way. Moreover, Kagome is Kikyou's reincarnation meaning that Kagome was jealous of a part of herself, which was a truly puerile, asinine, and poor reason for her to display any sort of jealousy towards another person, other than for petty and stupid reasons. As I cut down to the bone of this failure of a relationship, especially from this shot in Inuyasha: The Final Act's last episode, I can see that Inuyasha and Kagome barely had anything to make each other click and were only drawn together because of some contrived thing called destiny. The only thing they had in common was their mission to collect the Sacred Jewel shards, which Kagome started this whole bleeping mess, and destroying Naraku, which was instilled in them by that wretched, overstuffed hag Kaede. Perhaps, Kagome was brought into Inuyasha's life for one solitary reason, and that is what to not look for when it comes to being in a relationship. So, how will solve this problem? Inuyasha could have just dumped her butt from the very start, joined forces with Sesshoumaru, have Ayame be the romantic soulmate both of these dog yokai brothers deserve, thus being in a nice polyamorous relationship, and have Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran as the best friends Inuyasha needs. As for Kagome, she can just run away with Kouga and Bankotsu for all I care because this threesome does seem like it was what Kagome needed in the first place, especially considering that Kouga and Kagome cannot fight for crap and need something or someone to constantly help them! In conclusion, looking back at that shot in Inuyasha: The Final Act's last episode made me feel really bitter inside. After all the negativity present in Inuyasha's and Kagome's fart of a relationship and all the waiting Inuyasha had to go through for three years, which felt like such an ordeal for him, I am still gobsmacked that these two have ended up together, when in reality, they could have broken up on civil terms once and for all. Considering Kagome's actions in Yashahime, I am even going to go out of my way to say that she is a disgrace of a mother and I am more than glad to have chosen Ayame be the mother of not only Moroha, but also Towa and Setsuna. The three main young ladies of Yashahime truly deserved a more caring mother than that pathetic excuse of a fighter and a more stable family than what was presented in canon. I hope you all enjoyed my evisceration of InuKag and I will see you in the next submission. Take care and stay safe, everybody.

The Star in My Universe
A/N: Hey Guys, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time in reading this story. You are probably wondering if this journey is even worth the hassle and all I can ask is please give it a chance before writing it off. I hope you enjoy it as I have enjoyed writing this. I have posted this on AO3, Fanfiction and Wattpad and figured I'd share it here. Feel Free to expressive your thoughts, concerns, opinions and comments or not…you taking the time in reading this is an honor.
Well here we go! The first chapter to the first adventure!
Chapter One:
“Brick, there’s something I need to tell you—"
“What do you think of Berserk, Bubbles?” He interrupted while watched the combative redhead roam down the hallways with her sinister smile distilling fear in everyone.
“I didn’t know bullies were your type” I answered as I leaned against the locker next to Brick.
“Berserk isn’t like that, she’s—different” Brick answered, I looked at him watching her waltz down the hallways and noted how the other students practically ran in the opposite direction. Berserk has always been a deranged girl who looked exactly like my sister Blossom but the only difference between the two aside from style were their personality. Blossom was sweet while Berserk was a nightmare. Ever since Buttercup and Blossom got accepted into some private school for junior high, I got stuck going to public school alone. It wasn’t always the best especially when people realized my two sisters weren’t attending with me; it gave them ammunition to become monsters. It gotten so bad that I had to spend one semester being home schooled. Blossom and Buttercup tried their best to have me transferred but I wasn’t “talented” enough like my sisters. Blossom was the smart one, Buttercup was the athletic one and then there was me, Bubbles. Because I couldn’t get into Townville Prep the Professor and I had to move while Buttercup and Blossom lived in the dorms and visit during breaks and holidays. I envied that they attended Townsville Junior high Prep being close to our old friends, while I went to Citiesville.
“All you have to do is study your butt off and you can apply for Townsville Oakes Academy” Blossom’s words resounded in my head countless times for the past two years. I worked my butt off to be the top student here and making sure I don’t get nothing but an ‘A’. I couldn’t afford a distraction which is when Brick asked me what I thought of Berserk I simply ripped my locker door opened. Not bothering to give Brick a warning I was annoyed by that comment and I didn’t know exactly why. Brick and I became best friends since he moved here two years ago and stood by each other when things got rough. He was my rock when I told him I needed to bring up my grades and end the year with all A’s. I remember him bringing me snacks and food in the library because he always knew I forget to eat. I was his backbone when he was going off the reins during his parent’s divorce and decided to stay with his brother and father here in Citiesville while his other dad moved. I remembered when he was evasive when I’d ask about his parents. It wasn’t till he invited me to dinner three months into our friendship I found out he has two dads. It was surprising but amazing how two individuals found each other and loved each other only to end that happinesses. The only thing I was concerned about was how Brick would bring up HIM moving away from them and just leaving his kids behind. I stood by Brick every moment of the way till he felt strong enough to be on his own again and even when he claimed to be strong, I would walk behind him with a safety net ready to catch him when he falls.
It was a hectic, yet we stood by each other’s side like glue. There were times I wondered why we were friends; we were clearly from different worlds with different ambitions in mind. Waiting for the homeroom bell to ring, I secretly stole a glance at Brick who was too busy watching the red head eighth grader chatting with her equally deranged sisters: Brat and Brute. I rolled my eyes at the Punk girls who clearly weren’t going to class. I observed Berserk as she laughed while fixing the ribbons in her long red hair. Her plaid top was way too tight on her revealing largely enhanced breast while her skirt didn’t leave anything to the imagination. Berserk was your average girl trying to grow up too fast and convincing everyone, including faculty, that she’s an adult—which she’s not. She wasn’t right for Brick; one time Berserk didn’t even know where the bathroom was and there was a sign of a girl on the door. I remember I had to literally walk her to the bathroom just so she wouldn’t walk in the boys’ room, again. I don’t understand what Brick sees in her, if anything I always figured he would be interested in someone intelligent or be like me and not be interested in anyone till marriage.
“She’s also an airhead with an evil smile who can’t tell the difference between Picassos’ blue period and cubism period” I added.
He smirked before replying, “No one except you can tell the difference. You’re the smartest girl in school”
“Obviously, but I always thought you would want a girl with—I don’t know, an actual brain.” I finished, I looked at him and could see he was too busy being infatuated with Berserk’s outfit.
“I don’t know, I thought you had higher standards— “
“Bubbles, what’s your deal?” Brick questioned “why are you acting weird?”
His gaze switched to me, but I didn’t flinch when his eyes were trained on me waiting for an answer. I kept my eyes on Brick, not afraid to challenge him. I remember I use to be afraid of him and couldn’t even look him in the eye like everyone else in school. But once we became friends, I become the only one who didn’t feel scared by his presence or felt like he could crush my entire existence. I simply would tell him point blank if he was in the wrong, or even how I feel because we’ve evolved in our friendship where there are no secrets between us.
Yet, I didn’t understand why I was getting worked up on Brick’s taste in women, he is a known player with no standards. Looking down I felt like a complete idiot for putting that act, he’s free to be interested in whomever he wanted, so why did it bother me?
‘You just care about your best friend’s wellbeing’ I thought, I looked at him and thought back to the time we first met:
“Morning class, today we have two new students” The teacher announced.
I was quite excited to see who the new kids were, I wasn’t exactly the welcoming committee, but I always felt if someone greeted me with a warm welcome they’d smile. I looked at the other kids who were uninterested and were busy scribbling in their notebooks or on their phones.
“I wonder if they are ugly” I heard one kid whisper; I bit my inner cheek hoping they wouldn’t get picked on like I was when I first came here. I was terrified for their wellbeing; another set of kids being thrown in the lion’s den with no protection. It was my duty to warn these newcomers. But my thoughts vanished when they walked into the classroom. The teacher introduced him, but he seemed so distant about it. he loud beating from my chest filled my ears. My palms grew sweaty and there were goosebumps all over my body. A cold shiver went down my spine causing my back to straighten. I didn’t pay too much attention to the other kid, Inuyasha but I noticed some similarities between the two.
They look so gorgeous, like models; athletic physique, long legs, beautiful hair and clear skin. Their skin was so pale it looked like ice; the boy’s eyes were extremely darker but different.
‘Could they be related?” I thought.
“Brick sit next to Bubbles” the teacher instructed, I was eternally grateful that we had name tags, at the time, on our desks. My body suddenly turned into jelly that felt too heavy to move.
“Hi there, I’m Bubbles” I introduced, this was first time I have been strongly bold to someone let alone a boy. My cheeks were suddenly hot, and my tongue was dry, but I did my best to avoid being awkward. Which was hard since I had a boy haircut, metal wire filled inside my mouth and thick glasses with tape to hold the middle because some kids, i.e. Brat felt it needed to ‘compete my look’. So therefore, the tape in the middle of my glasses.
He finally said in a very robust voice, “Go away”
I had a half of a mind to run for the hills, but I simply smiled and shared my book with him. I needed to make sure he felt welcome here even though half the student body were teasing me and ignored him. I could feel his eyes burning through my neck, so I turned my head to have his eyes burn through my eyes.
“I hope you like it here Brick” I replied, admiring his features; his red hair reminded me of Blossom’s only his was dark. It made me think of fire. And his eyes were blood red that screamed danger—
“Whatcha looking at four eyes”
I gasped at the mega spit ball that landed on my glasses. I looked up to see the green eye boy laughing with the straw in his hand. The entire class went wild with laughter. The teacher continued with the lesson and ignore the obvious events of the other kids following his league by spitting spit balls at me. Leaping out my chair, I ran to the bathroom without missing a beat. I cradled myself in the bathroom stall and cried as I picked the still wet spit balls out of my hair. It was times like this I wished Buttercup would be here and yell at the bullies. She’d probably make them eat it as they apologize to me. Chuckling at the thought, I took a deep breath and exited out the stall to clean the remnants off my glasses. Keeping my sisters in mind, I held my head up and decided to go back in the lion’s den. The only way to survive is to show no fear—which clearly failed. I didn’t want to throw in the towel and go back to homeschooling, after begging the professor I needed to be strong so he wouldn’t take off work. The last semester nearly cost Blossom and Buttercups their housing and if it weren’t for their scholarships, they would have been sent to Citiesville and I couldn’t have that.
“You got this bubs” I whispered. Pushing my shoulders back and holding my head out I walked out the bathroom only to get bumped to the ground.
“Sorry” I muttered.
‘So much for not backing down’ I thought, looking up it was the red eyed boy named Brick towering over me. His shadow cast a dark aura around him. I watched as he shifted his feet making sure his shadow didn’t touch me.
“Watch where you’re going” he muttered, he didn’t move he simply stood there towering over me. I stared at him wondering if it was his way of apologizing or telling me something completely different. Nodding, I picked myself up and noticed how he was still standing in front of me with his hands in his pocket.
“Did you need something?” I asked,
“Butch is an idiot, don’t let him get to you”
I felt myself exhaling a lot of air, not realizing I was unconsciously holding my breath. His deep blood eyes penetrated past my weak walk and could probably see everything inside me. If he wanted, he could kick me down with one look. Yet here he is apologizing for that kid’s behavior.
“He’s your brother” I noted, Brick sighed and twisted his cap to hide his face.
“How did you know” His facial expression stayed the same, but these eyes gave him away when a spark of shock flashed.
“You guys have the same facial features, despite having different color eyes and hair; you act pretty distant when he’s near so you must be the oldest and you flinch, well your eyes darken when I mentioned your relation” I answered “Plus you two have the same last name, so it’s pretty much common sense”
He chuckled softly I couldn’t help but smile too. He turned his baseball cap forward so he could hide his face which probably revealed I was right. I felt like I did something good.
“You’re something special Bubbles” He stated before walking away back to the classroom. I lingered a moment, the smile I had on my face stayed the entire day. I was in such a good mood; I swore my heard skipped a beat. It didn’t bother me that the Powerpunk sisters dropped their yogurt on top of my head along with their assorted toppings. Nothing could ruin the fact that at that moment I knew I was going to be friends with Brick Jojo.
Snapping out of my trip down memory lane. That little kid I met on his first day transformed himself into the man right in front of me. I watched as Brick’s eyes darken and lighten up as he continued to stare at my face. It’ s almost as if he’s searching for something in my eyes. I kept staring at him for some reason my eyes could not look away. I just wanted him to look in my eyes all day while I did the same with him.
“I’m sorry, I just want you to date a girl who’s actually worthy of you” I started.
His eyebrow lifted curious where I was going with my little speech and to be quite frank so was I.
“I hate seeing you” I paused, unsure where I was going with this, some little voice inside my head wanted to scream “I hate seeing you with other girls” but I shook my head and took deep breath. It was weird and gross to think of my best friend that way.
“I hate seeing you with girls’ that don’t deserve you because they only want what you can provide for them” I explained, Brick lifted my chin up watching my messy bun come undone. A few pieces fell from my now sloppy bun to my face. I watched as his eyes sparkle with—something I never knew he possessed—excitement.
‘How come I never knew your eyes did that’ I thought as I felt his eyes reaching inside my soul.
“Brick?” he snapped out of his thoughts and looked at me in a platonic way, it is the same look I’ve grown accustomed to over the years.
“Bubbles you’re— “
He couldn’t finish his thought. The whiff of cinnamon and fear filled his nose and nearly suffocated me, but it also made him forget what he wanted to say. Turning around to see Berserk right behind him with a nervous look on her face and crooked smile resting on her lips. I was quite shocked at her demeanor, normally Berserk would be firm and confident but here she is looking like, a nervous kid. I too wanted to melt from the sight of Berserk, at this very moment she looked innocent.
I felt Brick’s hand drop from my face. Captured by the siren’s presence, I felt disappointed, but I didn’t understand why. Part of me wanted to ask him not to move his hand but it wouldn’t mean anything. His attention was to his ‘dream girl’ of the week. My body felt heated, charged with rage but broke from the way he kept staring at her. It made me feel so inadequate, like I was suddenly invisible.
“Hey Brick” Berserk smiled at him while brushing a piece of hair away from her face.
I watched the girl fix her red ribbons and look at Brick with her unique red eyes. A black hole started to grow inside my stomach. I wanted to pull her ribbons and stuff it in her mouth, but I snapped out of it.
‘What the hell?’ I wondered but I just couldn’t help it. The more I stared at Berserk the bigger that black hole grew in my stomach. I didn’t understand why I felt animosity towards the girl. It didn’t bother me that he was talking to her, but it bothered me how he was giving her his time. Like she was all that mattered, no one else existed; especially not me who was less than three feet away from them.
“Berserk” Brick responded, I watched as she giggled at him and rubbed her arm in a nervous manner.
“I was wondering if you don’t have any plans tonight—no wait you probably do, but if you don’t have a date to Butch’s party would you go with me? She finished.
“And that’s my cue to leave” I slammed my locker shut once the bell gave the second warning bell to head to class.
‘Stupid Berserk and her perfect skin, her stupid perfect crooked smile with her perfect teeth’ I thought as I held my books tight to my body, fearing I would fall apart if I let go.
“Bubbles, wait up!” Brick yelled, I wanted to keep walking and ignore my best friend who probably agreed to go on a date with that perfectly stupid air head.
Stopping at the corner I cling to my books even tighter as a life raft, not ready to tell Brick why I walked off so fast without waiting for him.; I fixed my thick framed glass, with the same tape in the middle, because Brat is nothing if not consistent. As I waited for Brick, I looked at the School’s mirror that is right above the water fountain and closed my eyes quickly after seeing my reflection.
‘Why do I care about my appearance’ I thought.
I knew I didn’t have a perfect smile, my braces made sure of it and my eyesight wasn’t the best because I had to get an even stronger prescription this year. I never have time to do my hair so I always either kept it in a messy bun or in pigtails because I was too busy trying to make straight A’s. And being the perfect daughter at home while the other two perfect sisters lived far away not fearing the hell of Citiesville.
“Why’d you run off?” Brick asked
“I didn’t want to get in the way of your plans with Miss dictator over there” I answered sourly, I felt so childish, but I just hated Berserk more than for the obvious reasons and I don’t know why and that frustrates me even more.
He sighed and shook his head, “Don’t be that way Bubbles.”
“Brick you’ve had your eye on that girl for a few months” I whispered, when he didn’t say anything, I knew I had to make a point.
“I just didn’t want you to miss your chance with her” I added.
“Well too late for that” he answered, I cocked my head to the side confused by his response.
“What do you mean?”
“I told her I was taking you instead” He replied “I couldn’t let my best friend miss an epic Jojo party”
I giggled at Brick’s sudden hospitality and all of my insecurities vanished into thin air—like magic. I suddenly wanted to jump into his arms and hug him for thinking of me. It occurred to me how I should have stayed a little longer to see Berserk’s face when he told her he was taking me instead of her. I felt victorious, like I won the grand prize, like I could accomplish anything.
“So, I’ll pick you up at eight, dress to impress” He told me before ushering me to my Honor’s English Composition class. Smiling I sat in my usual seat and ignored all the teasing remarks of the other kids. All I could think about was my plans to hang out with Brick tonight.

The Making of Sanaich
How 19-year-old Sana Hiroki transformed himself into an 80s yaoi icon
Tumblr media
Maraich is special to the Patalliro! series even before author Maya Mineo realized it. He confessed to planning to kill him off after a few chapters but saw the character had a life of its own and therefore he felt compelled to let him live. I wonder if this happened before or after Maraich was assigned to be 18 years of age, because Maya Mineo fell in love with his wife at first sight when he was 27, which is Bancoran’s age, and his wife 18. In the manga Maya-sensei also jokingly stated that Bancoran’s cheating was in no way a reflection of his own behaviors. And the fact that Maya-sensei’s now-mangaka daughter saw Patalliro as a sibling growing up kind of indirectly shows how Bancoran and Maraich’s relationship is in certain ways a representation of Maya-sensei’s own marriage.
Maya-sensei is delightfully weird, as you would expect from the man who created Patalliro! in the first place. So a lot of the decisions he has made about his story and characters don’t fit into boxes. He said he wasn’t good at drawing women so he made all his characters gay even though the pretty boys he draws are all indistinguishable from women.
And even though Maraich was one of the most important characters of the story, he never bound himself or anyone else to any set ways of portraying the character. Maraich was famously voiced by female voice actor Fujita Toshiko, and Maya-sensei had characterized Maraich as “a girl with a boy’s body”, despite the fact that Maraich throughout the series has used “boku”, which is the male first-person pronoun and on several occasions made it clear that he is a male and has no problem staying that way. So the whole thing is a very fluid situation and Maya-sensei is almost always just free-ranging.
When Stage Patalliro! became a thing but the cast has not been determined, Maya-sensei called his daughter Marie to ask about whether Maraich should be played by a man or a woman. Little did he realize that because Marie was raised on all the BL manga he had gathered over the years in his household, there was only one possible answer from a hardcore fujoshi.
The conversation was first revealed in Marie’s own comic series:
Tumblr media
“100% MALE!” was Marie’s instant reply. So we might have her to thank for Sanaich.
“For real?” was Sana’s initial response after being cast as Maraich. He didn’t know Patalliro! prior to the play and there was little in common between he and his character. Maraich looks like a woman, and was voiced by a woman, moreover Maya-sensei sees Maraich as a girl at heart and even wants a female to play the role, everything was mounting on Sana who has so far made his name by playing a serious character.
A known hard-worker, Sana did not dwell on the pressure and dived into the series. He read the entire manga(which was 90+ volumes and counting) and watch the anime on DVD(49 episodes not counting the movie). It was then when he saw that Maraich always uses “boku” when referring to himself.
“So there is still a part of him that is a boy.”
He expressed his thoughts to Maya-sensei when they sat down for an interview for the first time. And Maya-sensei, being his free-ranging self and all, essentially advised him to approach the character his own way. That is to say, he doesn’t have to feel confined by the anime’s female voice(which would be impossible for him to mimic anyway) or even Maya-sensei’s own characterizations. They have cast a boy, so Maraich now is a boy and there is nothing wrong with playing him as one.
“I often see (Maraich) being called ‘the one in a million pretty boy’ so I thought, ‘Ah, he’s a boy after all.’”
“My voice is so deep.”
“My shoulders are a little too wide.”
The photoshoot was just one of the places for such concerns, where Sana had to come up with very feminine and even erotic poses. Luckily he got advice from the staff and he also observed the women around him. He ultimately settled for a “worried” face, expressing the inner thought of “What do I even do...”
(Aoki Tsunenori, who plays Bancoran, said, “I didn’t receive any special instructions for the photoshoot.”)
Tumblr media
The result was stunning.
Tsune: I don’t dislike girls with wide shoulders at all. It’d definitely score a pass for me.
Sana: I’m so glad ♪ (A/N: the music note was printed in the actual interview)
(Despite that, Sana carried the same concerns with him even long after the show was over. In these two clips(1/2) where he watched himself as Maraich on stage, you can still see him feeling uneasy about his voice and any sign of masculinity, despite his fellow actors' repeated reassurance that he was adorable and his style was really good. )
To look like the character is one thing, to give him life on stage is another.
Even though they have established the fact that Maraich is a boy, he is still a feminine one. A lot of ideas flew around from the director and others on how Maraich would behave under different circumstances(80s female idols were an important point of reference). Once the directives were in his head, Sana realized he had indeed started acting more “girlish” even without realizing. He started to obsess over make-up, buying fashion magazines targeted at women, and unconsciously dancing in a very feminine manner... At one point he wondered if he had gone a little too far and really became a girl, but he was also having so much fun so he just laughed it off.
However, there was another elephant in the room: Maraich and Bancoran’s same-sex relationship, which was something new to both actors.
Sana: (while staring at Tsune) I want to convey the ultimate love story that even the audience would envy. Tsune: I never injected love to a boy this way though~ Sana: I have never fallen in love with a man before so...please take care of me! Tsune: Well, me neither. (LOL)  (A/N: the bracket notes are also printed in the actual interview)
Since both actors considered themselves to be straight(haha), Maya-sensei advised Sana to think of himself as a boy with a girl's heart to help him approach same-sex romance for the first time. Tsune then declared, “Sana I’m going to treat you like a girl now” which Sana happily agreed to. They indeed grew to enjoy each other’s company, sometimes caught by fellow actors sharing a private moment together and both spoke very fondly of the experience even long after the show was over.
Tumblr media
And there’s the fanfiction-like story of how they managed to kiss without feeling embarrassed.
Here’s a video you have probably watched 200 times because I reblogged it 2000 times.
They were determined to get this right. Tsune said in a later interview that he didn’t want people to think they were faking the kiss so a simple brush on the lips was out of the question. Kato Ryo(Patalliro), who somehow always gets asked about the kiss even though he personally was not involved, also said they both really went for it with all they had.
And there is also the love-making. Neither spoke much about it unfortunately but we know this position was coined by Kato Ryo and there was a lot of trial and error happening under everyone’s watchful eyes. So we at least know they had to rehearse in the middle of the room with everyone watching.
Tumblr media
Alas, Maraich is more than just a pretty face.
Maraich is a trained assassin and literal killing machine. Check out Sana’s epic high kicks in this action sequence with Tsune.
Tumblr media
Maraich is also a sentimental lover. His solo "That Man" is an expression of his rawest emotions, and a very subtle tribute to the fact that Maraich was one of the earliest manga characters to be shown engaging in masturbation.
Remember how Sana was concerned about his deep, manly voice? In Maraich and Bancoran’s duet "Snipers of Love", you can clearly hear that Tsune's voice is a lot higher than his but that did not keep this song from being one of the most brainwashing tracks coming from any stageplay.
And there’s also this moment of truly seamless acting:
Tumblr media
Maya-sensei's daughter and mangaka Yamada Marie grew up with BanMara. Yet even she, after watching the stageplay, found herself shipping BanMara even harder and started to actively use the term "Sanaich", combining the actor and character's names.
Kato Ryo, who was the determining factor that made the play even remotely plausible, mentioned how having Sana as Maraich and Tsune as Bancoran helped him relieve a lot of the pressure. Patalliro, Bancoran and Mariach are the pillars of the original story, and it is not surprising that the stageplay could only work out when there are three competent and talented actors to fill those roles. In fact, in many group and solo interviews the three of them did before and after the play, they brought up how watching each other get into character gave them confidence and even more faith that this play - long considered an impossible project - will work out just fine.
In the end, Sana probably found that he and Maraich had more in common than he first thought. Sana is a very talented and hardworking actor. His subsequent performances as Sesshomaru in Stage Inuyasha and Bedivere in Stage FGO were also highly praised, but I still feel Maraich is his most outstanding performance to date. There's just something about Sanaich that feels so natural, something close to perfection came out of that flawless addition of unabashed boyishness and Maraich's sentimentalism.
After the final performance, Sana wrote on his blog,
"I am so happy to be able to play Maraich. So happy that I might have got pregnant...LOL"
And here’s a gif of him having fun.
Tumblr media
Well, he's just not pregnant...yet.

Hey there! For a sesskag prompt: dealing with body image issues. Love your work! Thanks :)
Thank you so much for you kind compliments and the prompt! ♥ Here you go!
Purple
She was all alone and far from his foolish half-brother andhis ragtag retinue of companions; a rather reckless disposition from a girlwith such an uncanny penchant for trouble. He was quite prepared to severelyadmonish her – though why he cared hedid not wish to subject to any closer inspection at the moment.
However, his ready reprimands vanished when he caught thesight of her. She sat by a small pond, shoulders hunched, tossing pebbles intothe still pool of water and intently staring at the growing ripples.
For a moment, he simply stared – then the words tumbled outbefore he could stay them.
“Why is your hair purple?”
She startled at the sound of his voice and whirled around –but as her blue eyes met his piercing golden ones, she visibly relaxed.
Sesshoumaru was fairly sure he should feel offended by herutter disregard for deadly predators –himself included.
“What do you think?” she asked, tilting her head and raisingher hand to the absurd-coloured strands framing her face. “Does it suit me?”
Sesshoumaru arched one very derisive eyebrow at her.
“I quite liked it,” she continued, peering down at herreflection. “I thought of going for the bleach-blond thing first – you know, soI could get the total opposite – but I don’t think that would’ve been a goodlook for me.”
Sesshoumaru scowled. It was irritating that she had apenchant for babbling, more infuriating still when her speech was peppered withstrange words of which Sesshoumaru could make no sense.
“I do not understand why anyone would wish for such aludicrous hair,” he replied coldly. It was also more than a little unsettlingthat he disliked it – not the baffling colour necessarily, but the length; hewas rather sorry the perplexing priestess had chopped it so short it barelyreached her jaw.
“No,” she said thoughtfully, looking over at him. “I don’tthink you would understand.”
Sesshoumaru stiffened. He did not care for that measuringlook in her eyes.
“Perhaps you could try to explain your reasoning?”
She pursed her lips. Waved her hand. “Even if I tried I’mnot sure you would get it. I meanlook at you – that hair, those markings, your eyes. You’re tall and manly and perfect. I bet you’ve never lookedinto a mirror and hated what you saw.”
Sesshoumaru was taken aback enough that he managed a slowblink. He wasn’t surprised that she would think him attractive – many mortalwomen found daiyoukai appealing or exotic.
He couldn’t, however, fathom why sheshould be disappointed in her own reflection. He had never witnessed herexpressing insecurities, she didn’t lack for suitors, and she certainly didn’tdress to hide her figure. Her long legs were frequently exposed, and her oddkimono did nothing to hide her chest, which, he couldn’t help noticing, wasvery well rounded.
Even so, her assumptions were incorrect.
“Perfect?” he scoffed. “Hardly so, miko. I am marred, andnot a day goes by when I would not be vexed by that which I lack.”
The woman frowned. “Which you – oh.” Her blue eyes grewround. She shifted nervously. “I’m so sorry, I was thoughtless andinconsiderate and –”
“I have no use for your apologies, miko. You were not theone who cut me.”
“I did encourage him, though,” she said, her voice soft andsmall, “at the time.”
“At the time,” Sesshoumaru spoke dryly, “my intention was tokill you both. I cannot fault you for cheering for your protector.”
She shook her head, as if his reassurances only served todistress her further. “Still, it must be very frustrating for you. I couldn’timagine living without an arm. My own worries seem so petty now.”
“If you care to talk about them, I will listen.”
“I don’t think I dare, when you have it so much worse.”
“There is always someone who has it worse,” Sesshoumarusaid, exasperated at the miko. “No two people will react to a given situation thesame way. One could easily brush off something that would wholly debilitateanother. Your worries may seem petty to others, but to you they clearly are not.”
“That’s… nice of you to say.” The miko blinked in surprise.“I wouldn’t want to bore you though.”
“Do you think my time so without value that I wouldvolunteer it to listen just anyone’s troubles?”
The miko fidgeted. “Well… if you are sure…?” She looked athim, hesitant.
“I am intrigued, miko, as to what would drive you to dislikeyour very own reflection,” Sesshoumaru confessed. “I never thought you soinsecure.”
“I’m not – I don’t want to be, at least…” She sighed. “I’vealways felt comfortable in my own skin, and I never really thought much aboutmy appearance. Until I came here, that is.”
“Why have you started then?” he asked, when she fell silent.
She hugged her knees and stared at the spare tufts of grassby her feet. Her reply was so quiet he had to strain to hear it.
“Inuyasha.”
She lifted her head. Pain was clearly writ in the bluedepths of her eyes, a sorrow he would have prior to this day believed thecarefree priestess incapable of.
“The issue isn’t what I look like; it’s who I look like. I care for him, you know? A lot. That’s why it’sall the more painful… He has this look he gets, this faraway look in his eyesand I know. He might be looking at me, but it isn’t me he sees.”
She bit her lip, and ruffled her vibrantly purple hair asSesshoumaru waited for her to continue.
“I’ve had enough; I can’t take it anymore, always beingcompared to another, only valued as someone’s reincarnation… I’m my own person, damnit! So I went and cut myhair. And dyed it purple. So I might look less like her.” She shrugged.
“I suppose the colour does suit you, atrocious as it is,”Sesshoumaru said at last.
She managed a little smile of gratitude. “Competing againsta dead lover is bad enough, you know?” she said conversationally. “But itbecomes just impossible when said lover doesn’t stay dead.”
“Hnn.” Sesshoumaru took few slow steps to close theirdistance. He bent down, tugging at a purple strand of hair and curling itaround his clawed finger.
Her startled blue eyes looked up into his cool golden ones.
“I always did think my half-brother was a great fool,”Sesshoumaru remarked.

YDOHQWLQH
The fire was burning low, casting a soft glow across the length of the penthouse suite and across the forms of its two occupants. In the luxuriant space, his partner (the term, once applying simply to the practical fact that their souls had been decreed by Eternity to jointly navigate the afterlife, had lingered fondly long past that point - what else could so succinctly describe their relationship?) could assume his true form without concern for appearances. The grand piano he had been earlier playing supplied a backing track to the comfortable silence, soft and unobtrusive as the scene required. Peace and quiet were a near antithesis to all the dream demon was and yet similar vignettes dotted more of the nights since he’d met Sesshomaru than not.
“Y’KNOW, I THINK I MIGHT’VE BROUGHT OUT THE BIG GUNS TOO EARLY.” As was often the case between them, Bill was the one to break the silence, the idle movement of his hands through the other’s fur pausing in kind. The demon lord, so close to the edge of sleep, opened one golden eye in a mix of annoyance and curiosity, plainly wondering what it was the Bill felt so important as to impose and to relent in his ministrations. The lack of preamble or explanation did nothing to indicate his intentions, making the conversation a one-sided matter already.
Shifting from his position leaned comfortably against the warmth his partner gave off (the joys of physical sensation still hadn’t lost their edge), he took impatiently to the air in a manner oddly reminiscent to how one might pace a room to chase their thoughts. “I MEAN, THINK ABOUT IT! YOU’RE IMMORTAL, I’M IMMORTAL, AND THIS IS ONLY YEAR TWO! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TOP AN ENTIRE CONSTELLATION DEDICATED TO YOU WHEN WE’VE GOT HUNDREDS OF YEARS AHEAD OF US! I COULD ALWAYS GIVE YOU YOUR OWN GALAXY BUT THAT’S MORE 25TH ANNIVERSARY MATERIAL, YA DIG?”
His meaning now clear, remembrance of the holiday Sesshomaru had learned of around this time the year prior making its relevance equally apparent. For someone who liked to scorn humanity for its foolishness, Bill certainly was one to pick and choose with a causal hypocrisy whichever aspects of the same suited his whims. He would’ve made a suggestion were it not for the fact that the other continued, “SO I FIGURED I SHOULD JUST MAKE IT EASY ON US BOTH AND LET YOU PICK SOMETHING YOURSELF! YOU KNOW WHAT I CAN DO BY NOW.” Or so the ruins of several dimensions attested, a collaborative effort between them that stood as monuments to what Bill often said about them being better together.
Acute effort could easily call to mind the first of their joint ventures, the fulfillment at last of the triangle’s promises of what they could accomplish when bound by no other rules than their own. It hadn’t disappointed in the slightest and while those since then had been much less overly-indulgent affairs, neither had tired of it yet.
“I MEAN IT, ANYTHING! I KNOW I’VE SAID IT BEFORE BUT YOU NEVER ASK EVEN WHEN I KNOW YOU WANT TO. DON’T GET ME WRONG, THE MODEST THING IS CUTE BUT YOU COULD STAND TO BE A LITTLE MORE FORWARD THIS FAR INTO OUR RELATIONSHIP.” It was obvious he was teasing, as he so often did, yet it was clear he was entirely serious about the offer. “REALLY CUT LOOSE! A GREAT NIGHT’S SLEEP FEATURING YOURS TRULY, THAT FRUSTRATING YOUNGER BROTHER OF YOURS OUT OF THE WAY, WHATEVER YOU WANT!”
Anything gave Sesshomaru quite a few ideas. He could ask for all humans to be dead… could ask for his father to be alive again. He could ask for Inuyasha to become a - what was the term? A vegetable? Sentenced to an eternity of serving as Sesshomaru’s personal handmaid. He could ask Bill to get rid of that obnoxious human girl he was so insistent upon keeping around for unknown reasons. He could ask for Bill to just come with him to Japan to find a suitable, permanent demon vessel to live in so he wouldn’t have to be seen with such an odd looking partner.
For all the ideas he had, Sesshomaru settled on one request quickly enough. “If you are truly ready to give me anything I want, Bill, I have no need of anything. Truth be told, I have no need of ‘things’. I have no wishes that I desperately want granted. Just having a loyal companion like yourself is sufficient. Swear to me you won’t tire of me or run off with someone else and leave me behind, and This Sesshomaru will be content.” It was a rare moment of open, exposed honesty and emotion. Sesshomaru was sick of losing loved ones to humans and whims. Demons should be with demons, humans should be with humans. And for the first time in the two years he’d known Bill, he finally understood why he so strongly disliked Nicolette. Sesshomaru didn’t want her to steal his partner away, like that human woman had stolen his father. Like the priestess had stolen any hope of a competent brother.
The dog demon shifted to sit up, silver locks falling over his shoulder while an intense golden gaze locked on Bill’s one eye. “Do not laugh. Do not make an empty promise to me either, Bill. Make it one of your deals. Take my hand and swear to me you won’t leave.”
Despite the fleeting lifespans of humans (or perhaps because of that selfsame fact), they were quick to dedicate themselves to each other ‘forever’ with no real comprehension of what that entailed. Even the bright-eyed genius he’d struck a deal with to build the portal that would free him from the Ouroboros of chaos the Nightmare Realm had become had declared that their friendship would last until the end of time. Of course, they didn’t need to understand the gravity of their statements, considering that a scant eighty years was as much as they could hope for and ‘til death do us part was a more practical measure.
Bill, on the other hand, had lived before time had spun itself into existence and would persist past the point it sputtered out, finding other universes to occupy until a bigger fish came along and did what bigger fish tend to do to smaller ones. He’d accepted Stanford’s promise with ease, knowing that he wouldn’t live long enough to see it through and he understood just what was on the table with his partner’s request: eternity.
A joke about how he hadn’t thought Sesshomaru was the jealous type and all pretense of discussing the simple celebration of the holiday evaporated as he met the other’s eyes, the triangular being wondering, considering. He doubted the perpetually-serious demon lord would make the offer lightly, which meant many different things, not all of which he could claim to understand in their entirety. With few exceptions, all his so-called friends were either sycophants or had loyalty bought with a handshake and a promise of power. Sesshomaru had joined him on near equal footing with no reservations for the fact that he made a hobby of the destruction of whole dimensions. It was fun to tease him for being a stick-in-the-mud but Bill had to admit that he respected that the other never bowed to him-- as much as he enjoyed that in the conventional sense.
Compounded by the fact that he could perceive uncountable dimensions where they had never met, met and parted before now, or went their separate ways at some point in the future, a commitment like the one he was asked for was a serious one indeed. He’d said once that he would stick around with until one of them grew bored with the arrangement. That sentiment still stood and he saw no reason to change it, nor any likelihood that time was drawing near. Maybe it would never come. The problem with seeing possibilities and probabilities was that you could never be certain but Bill was little if not a betting man.
“AS MUCH AS I WANT TO SAY YOU’RE ONE-OF-A-KIND, THAT’S NOT TRUE. YOU’RE NOT. I’M NOT! WHAT YOU ARE IS THE ONE I CHOSE. I WOULDN’T HAVE BROUGHT JUST ANYONE WITH ME THROUGH AS MANY DIMENSIONS AS WE’VE SEEN, YOU KNOW. I DON’T MIND MAKING THAT A TWO-WAY ARRANGEMENT.” He extended a hand, blue flames that didn’t so much as scorch the air soon to follow. “HOW DOES IT GO AGAIN? YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND? OR REQUEST, IN THIS CASE.”
