overwhelming response (two people in total) to my previous post :p so here are my dope takes that i wish the NHL would take seriously regarding the 2023 draft:

i do not take actual draft order into consideration for like any of these... because ch*cago ruined my life and draft order attempted to ruin idgaf war hero jeichel's life SO!!

i think it's pretty obvious this was the spot i wanted bedsy to land. the whole OC boy experience was something i was rooting so hard for. he needed to discover the healing powers of a double double animal style clowning on zegras. like i've said before, his horror filled eyes would only get worse with one trip on the I5.. and i think it would've made him an even better hockey player somehow 🧪

2. leo carlsson to the sharks

3. adam fantilli to the HABS

this choice was mainly inspired by this comment adam left on cole's instagram and it got me THINKING. known jhughes fan boy adam fantilli has been going to work getting in with the NTDP boys and i think this is a solid choice somehow. can't really elaborate more on this, just a feeling i'm feeling.

again, in a world where jackets didn't commit to the bit of being so completely morbid awful nasty gross, adam going there so he wasn't too far away from his other half luca would've been good with me. the umichification of OHIO.. c'mon 〽️

and of course the reality of the great chances he's a future duck hasn't been lost on me. i think he's going to be a great addition to the canadian heist that will force zegras into more team canada jerseys.

plus he hit a matthews celly once. and i think that means he goes somewhere where it would be eaten up

4. will smith to buffalo

with a name like will smith he's got to go somewhere that i KNOW bitches will serenade him with the fresh prince of bel air theme song (like he assumedly has been all his life) and what better place to do this than the sabres. a team for silly goofy guys is where i think will smith and his NTDP taught silliness could thrive. also the athletic clowned on him for not being able to skate like jhughes despite being the n.1 center in the NTDP this year. whiteboy hockey looks can haunt you apparently .but my son you will go to a place where it doesn't matter because the vibes are too strong. cuz i said so

however, streets are saying he might be coming to the sharks. no surprise considering will is a future boston college student athlete and mike grier starts acting up anytime someone with BOSTON connections is in his sights. like a rabid dog with no self control. so, maybe bordy will be in contact with smith soon via insta DM?? and maybe i wouldn't be mad about it

anyway... all of these boys are haunted regardless of where they get drafted because they got invited to vegas to watch stanley cup final game 2.. and we all know that was a monstrosity so. Permanently scarred pre draft, here's how i would've saved them.

S2: What If Mystique and Shangela were the B2 in the first episode, rather than Sahara and Shangela?

Welcome back! Today we're looking at the scenario in which the B2 of the first episode of Season 2 was not, as it was in the original season, Sahara and Shangela, but Mystique Summers Madison and Shangela. As the Low placer in the original episode, Mystique was all but ready to B2 but pulled out a split on the runway that impressed the judges, causing Ru to spare her. But let's imagine if that didn't happen...

Episode 1's B2 is Shangela and Mystique. They lipsync to RuPaul's Cover Girl, and Shangela performs as impressively as she did originally. Against a much weaker dancer in Mystique, it's Mystique who is eliminated and Shangela lives to fight another day.

Episode 2 is the Burlesque challenge. The queens have to perform a burlesque show in a club, and also sell gift certificates on the street to the public. I see Shangela excelling in both of these tasks, using her natural charm and comedy skills, as well as dance skills, to succeed at both aspects. Sahara, as the team captain, was initially the winner of this challenge, and I think would be here again, with Shangela placing High with the rest of their team. Nicole Paige Brooks and Raven B2 as originally and Nicole is eliminated.

Episode 3 is the Country Queens commercial challenge. The task is preceded by an eating challenge, originally won by Mystique, with Morgan and Pandora scoring just below her. With no Mystique, Morgan and Pandora are this time the winners, and thus team captains for this task. I see no reason for the teams picked to change; Pandora will pick Shangela as a good actress, and the rest of the picks will follow, leaving Shangela as the replacement Mystique on Pandy's team. This episode was not judged in teams. The runway is country-themed. For the B2, here's where things get interesting. Originally, there was no Low placement on this episode, with a straight B2 of Mystique and Raven. Unfortunately now, Mystique is no longer with us - and I don't see Shangela doing badly on an acting challenge. Tyra wins the challenge, as originally, and Raven falls B2 as originally for an attitude problem. Based on challenge performance and runway, I think Sahara is most likely to join her - however, Sahara, winning the last episode's challenge, had immunity. It's thus Sonique who falls into the B2 here - I think, the 3rd weakest remaining. They lipsync to Wynona Judd, and while both are talented lipsyncers, I see Raven embodying the song more. Sonique is eliminated.

Episode 4 is Snatch Game, with a personal style runway theme. Tatianna wins this challenge. I see Shangela being Safe here, with a good Snatch Game performance pulled down by a messy runway look - likely an ok design, as it will be a professional design brought from outside the competition, but imperfect makeup. Morgan and Sonique B2ed originally, but Sonique is no longer with us. This means that unfortunately, fan fave Jujubee, the episode's next lowest queen falls B2. This really could go either way...but to date, Morgan has the better track record. However, Juju performed better in the challenge. For that reason, I think Morgan gets eliminated here - tbh, I think Sonique beat her in the original lipsync too.

Episode 5 is the wedding challenge - a second challenge with design elements. There's no way that Shangela doesn't B2 here; as such, I see this B2 being now between Sahara and Shangela, with Tyra winning the challenge as originally. This is bound to be an epic lipsync performance, but at this point, I think Ru will be more invested in Shangela and will cut Sahara loose, unlike in E1 of the original season. Shangela shantays and Sahara is eliminated.

Episode 6 is the rock chicks performance challenge, with no additional runway theme. As this is a performance challenge, I see Shangela doing ok, even though it isn't her usual style. Originally, Sahara and Jujubee were the B2 here, with Tyra saved due to immunity from a bad performance. Tyra will still have immunity here, preventing her from joining Juju in the B2. The next lowest queen was another fan fave, Tatianna. Jujubee dominated this lipsync originally, and will again here, eliminating Tati to Black Velvet. This challenge is won, as in the original episode, by Jessica Wild.

Episode 7 is the book and advertising challenge. Originally, the B2 was Tatianna and Jessica Wild. As Shangela is business-minded, I see her avoiding the B2 here - not doing worse than Jessica's disaster performance in which she forgot the brand name and struggled with the language barrier. Pandora Boxx originally had her first Low in this challenge, being harshly critiqued for her runway. This time, that's enough to land her in the B2. The lipsync song is He's The Greatest Dancer by Sister Sledge. Originally, Jessica was eliminated here, however... both Pandora and Jessica were eliminated on their first lipsync. Jessica had thus far been doing better in the competition. For that reason, I see Pandora losing this lipsync and Jessica shantaying.

Episode 8 is our top 5 episode, with remaining queens Jessica Wild, Tyra, Raven, Jujubee and Shangela. This is the makeover challenge, this time featuring senior citizens to be transformed into drag mothers. Once again, as a design challenge, this is a near-guaranteed B2 for Shangela, and as her 3rd B2, this will be the end of the line for her...except, it's also Jujubee's 3rd B2. This could go either way...but Shangela will have performed worse in the challenge, and I think Jujubee would win against her here.

Episode 9 is the top 4 episode, which in season 2 is the Divas Ball. Tyra wins this episode as originally with Raven High. Juju and Jessica B2, and as it's Juju's 4th time in the bottom, she's eliminated this time, and Jessica proceeds in her place to the final.

The final episode proceeds as before. Tyra and Raven have identical runs, with Jessica Wild a distant third. Tyra is crowned the winner of Drag Race season 2. Shangela, placing 5th overall, is now unfortunately much less likely to be invited back for season 3! Maybe Mystique Summers Madison will get the call!

Magnus in the 70s

Because i fucking want to think about that

Ok so in the 70s magnus was already in New York but he had to have been going to the UK frequently because he canonically hooked up with Freddie Mercury (how fucking great is that). That had to have been around the 70s cuz in the 80s Freddie met Jim Hutton (his husband with whom he stayed for the rest of his life)

And listen. Listen. There is. So Much to say about that. Like so much.

I mean, 70s Freddie was so much like magnus?????? with his painted nails and puffy sleeves and his tops that were originally designed to be wedding dresses? With his fear of not being loved and his insecurities despite being so glamorous and powerful? Like..... Imagine that relationship

You cant tell me that magnus didnt inspire Freddie in his clothes and mannerisms. You just cant

And anyway if magnus was travelling around to go to multiple Queen concerts and dragging dot along (god can you believe this is all canon) up until he somehow hooked up with Freddie he had to have been a Queen stan. Bitch im thriving so much

Which makes a lot of sense because the 70s were the peak of Glam Rock, all these androgynous and feminine-looking guys with long hair and makeup and painted nails making good ass music? Of course magnus was into that. And queen was peak glam rock

Magnus absolutely losing his mind to the sound of killer queen

Magnus' current favorite song in the 70s being Somebody To Love because i mean..... come on. an absolute bop, and it's so relatable to magnus, who was constantly scared of being alone, who was taught most of his life that he was destined to be left by those he loves. I mean i dont want to make this sad but theres something extremely healing for him to hear this song that sums up his fears so well and is sad but is also a bop and has kinda hopeful vibes and is so filled with energy. He lowkey cried when they played it in concerts but he also smiled brightly as he hugged dot and the both of them would stay like that singing their voices out (im unsure if they were together at this point but i mean probably not since magnus is very monogamous and he was hooking up with someone else. either way it doesnt matter because dot is one of his best friends and they love each other and that's all that matters)

Magnus Bane. WOULD. perform Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy in his living room, absolutely over the top, with some intricate swooning and dipping and eyelash batting, maybe even using magic to make a few sparks at determining moments (one two three four five six seven eight nine o'clock). just looking straight out of a 50s romantic movie. FREQUENTLY. and he still does. once alec walked in on him doing that and just stayed still, watching, trying not to disturb him and feeling his heart swell with just how much he loves magnus

Speaking of performances, the 70s? Drag balls? The queer community absolutely thriving? Yeah, Magnus was having the time of his life with all of that. Magnus would be going around, frequenting queer bars, meeting and inspiring thousands of people, lowkey adopting all gnc and questioning ppl he could find and helping them come to terms with themselves

the stonewall riot???? was in new york. and if you think magnus bane wasnt there using his magic to keep people from being hit during the protest, and sabotaging the police, keeping his friends safe and helping the parade move foward, then well. you are wrong. you are so wrong its embarrasing. of course he was there, doing exactly that, and on most other protests too. you think he didnt join brenda howards bisexual alliance? didnt meet sylvia rivera? you fool. you absolute coward

so at that time, pandemonium? it was a gay bar. dont even try to change my mind, because you cant. magnus' club was the ultimate safe space for downworlder and queer youth, obviously overflowing with poc as was the queer scene in the 70s. he held drag balls in there. hed have a big line up of queer performers almost every night, and have tight security rules to ensure everyone's safety too. bonus points, he could keep the police away using wards so if you were to ever go to pandemonium you were guaranteed to have a good time

and - ok, this was in the 80s, but just, just hear me out - the drag performers in pandemonium were how magnus was introduced to one of the great loves of his life - Whitney Houston.

you cannot possibly tell me that magnus doesnt adore whitney houston. the drama? the theatrics? the sheer power of her voice? the upbeat songs and deeply felt lyrics? magnus eats that shit up. magnus listens to i wanna dance with somebody and dances and lipsyncs with a burning passion. magnus puts so emotional on and makes a dramatic kinda-ironic serenade to alec, who cant stop smiling. magnus puts his heels on and vogues to I'm every woman and hes good at it. magnus cries listening to the greatest love of all, but, much like somebody to love, its a song thats actually healing to listen to, to remind himself that he's not broken and deserves to be loved and to love himself. whitney houston makes magnus extremely happy in a very private, deep way. it helps him truly let loose
