"So..." Hero trailed off, crossing their legs and swirling their red wine in their lap with their free hand.
It has been 4 minutes ago since dinner. Both of them talked about random topics and such, laughed and banter until they ran out of topics to talk about. Hero didn't want to come off as rude so they stayed for a bit longer.
The two of them are in villain's living room, the only source of light is the fireplace, and the crackling from the blaze filled the silent room.
Hero felt their stomach churn, they started to feel sweat on their palm and the fire is not helping it at all. They looked around the villain's so called, 'lair' to avoid the other's intense eye contact.
The place is mildly nice; Marble floors reflecting them. The window far behind them were showing off the bright city lights below the penthouse, and hero could not tell anything else because of the dim lights.
"Nice place you have here." Hero said nervously, clearing their throat.
"Yeah, I mean uh- Yes, indeed." Villain stammered.
Villain had planned this a day ago. Hero would come to their penthouse, check. Have dinner with them, check. Learn more about them? Check. Drink wine while literally act awkward afterwards? Yes and No.
"Sooo.." Hero spoke after a minute of silence, scratching their neck. The silence is too painful for them it hurt.
The villain just sat there, arms resting on the couch beside Hero, smirking devilishly while looking at them with their eyes sparkling with mirth. "So?" They replied, sipping their wine glass while crossing their legs.
"Why... did you invite me here?" The hero asked, staring blankly at the villain's eyes.
"Mhm." Villain hummed, arching their back and gulping their wine. 'Finally.' They thought, regaining their confidence back in one sip of the wine. Villain didn't know why the hero asked that about now but they guessed it's just to relieve the thick tension.
"Mhm...?" Hero muttered as they watched their friend finish the glass in one gulp.
"I've been having certain.. 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 lately," Villain said, voice dropping in a low tone. Their eyes half lidded and glimmering with hunger, trying to get the message from the snail.
"Cravings?" Hero mumbled, placing their hands under their chin.
Villain tilted their head, swirling their now empty glass between their fingers, admiring how the blaze from the hearth illuminated the hero's face perfectly.
"Cravings, cravings... Oh." The hero innocently repeated, having no idea what they meant.
Villain grinned, chortling. "Indee-"
"Cravings..? Like fish? Chips? Salad?" Hero interrupted, tilting their head lightly, eyebrows raised.

Silence resurfacing yet again, save from the noise of the fireplace. Both are staring at each other, with the villain's lips slightly parted and their brows raised. While Hero is.. oblivious to say the least.
"Uhm.. Did I say something bad..?" Hero asked, trying so hard to carefully analyze what they're trying to say.
Villain pursed their lips, their breath catching up to their throat. They currently want to do nothing but cry in the corner and scream out of embarrassment.
They sighed heavily, shaking their head in disapproval. "Hero, hero, hero." They massaged the bridge of their nose. "It's not food I've been craving. It's you." Villain didn't hesitate to say it directly—out loud. Their cheeks tinted with red as the words came out, smirking devilishly as they did so.
"Me? What about me—oh." Hero gasped, covering their mouth. Now, they both have the same bright crimson cheek. What was that sudden confession? they thought. "Are you drunk or..."
"No." Villain answered honestly, putting their glass down to face the now blushing hero.
"Uh-" Hero couldn't even finish the sentence when Villain's hand went to their cheek, and the other on their hips, turning their face red as a tomato.
Villain pressed their body close to hero's, thumb caressing the other's jaw, slowly making their way on their exposed neck.
"Villain.." Hero whispered out, feeling lightheaded, they didn't know if it was the wine or villain making their body weak, but it is definitely villain.
Villain groaned in response, they couldn't think straight at this point. They leaned their foreheads together, noses tickling as they stared deeply into each other's eyes.
Both hero and villain's heartbeat felt erratic, bodies pressed against each others, pupils dilated and waiting for each other to make the first move. Their lips are inches apart.
"Can I..?" Villain asked, brushing their thumb over hero's soft bottom lip gently.
"I.. uhm.. uh.." Hero stuttered, gulping nervously. They tried to think an answer for something, a response, but they couldn't utter a single word not when their friend or nemesis's body is literally pressed on to them.
Just as hero closed an inch on villain's lips, they pulled away. "I'm sorry." They said, pushing villain's shoulders away from them before standing up from the couch.
"It's already late, I need to go back home. See ya." Hero mumbled, picking up their belongings.
"Wait-"
"Bye, see you soon." Hero interrupted, rushing towards the front door, leaving the villain behind.
And when the door slammed shut, Villain kept their eyes on the front doorway, hands flat on the couch while looking everywhere at shock. The room felt suddenly cold as the blaze from the hearth began to dissipate.
They walked slowly towards the kitchen, putting down the empty wine glasses down the sink. "Oh god." They mumbled, leaning over the sink with their head hung low, thinking over what a mess they just made.
