❀ Day 1 ❀
Welcome to Osaka
Tumblr media
I got little to no rest during our flight and when we landed in Osaka, I felt like I could sleep for hours. We decided our first day here would purely be spent resting and getting to know the area.
We took a taxi from Osaka International Airport to our hotel, Conrad Osaka. Excitement and anticipation was swallowing me whole. The taxi driver was extremely welcoming to me and my friends. He gave us some information about the area and a few tips for our travels. After what I presume to be a bit over half an hour, we arrived at our hotel.
The hotel didn’t look too fancy from the outside but as soon as we walked in we were greeted by classy decor but yet modern architecture.
Tumblr media
The hotel was rather hard to navigate through and by the time we had reached our room, we basically knew every other facility within the hotel.
The room was luxurious. With in room climate control and clean towels and bedding, we could not have asked for a better room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After unpacking and taking a well deserved nap, me and Shiv decided to go for a walk while Melcam slept.
The streets of Japan are known for being extremely clean and Osaka is no exception. The entire walk was so peaceful and every breath I took was so clear.
After walking for a while, I decided we should go past 7-ELEVEN to pick up some food to keep in our hotel room. If you didn’t know, Japan is well-known for its phenomenal convenience store food and like many people, I’ve always wanted to experience that for myself.
As soon as we entered, I felt like a kid walking into a candy store. All the shelves were fully and neatly stocked with tons of perfectly packaged foods.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naturally, Shiv went straight to the ice cream aisle in search of the world famous Godiva ice cream but my attention was on something else. For years I’d dreamed of trying some authentic Japanese rice balls, also known as Onigiri, and for the first time in my life, they were right in front of me. I picked up 3 salmon rice balls and 3 Nanko Ume, which is basically just salted plum. After fangirling over the onigiri for a good few minutes, I joined Shiv back in the ice cream aisle and can I just say, Osaka 7-ELEVEN Ice cream does not disappoint. I swear there was a flavour for literally everything. From curry ice cream to honeycomb and avocado sorbet, they well and truly have everything.
Tumblr media
To say me and Shiv walked out with a few bags would be an understatement.
Overall, we spent ¥2,421 which is around $25 when converted to Australian dollar. Melcam messaged us that she had finally woken up so we decided to make our way back to the hotel.
By the time me and Shiv got back to the hotel, all three of us were absolutely starving. Though our hotel holds fancy dinners and expensive buffets, me and my friends were way too tired to dress up for such a high class event so the three of us agreed to try a small restaurant called 串まる (which roughly translates to ‘Skewered’). The restaurant is known for serving skewered meats and is located just across the Higobashi bridge, quite close to the 7-ELEVEN me and Shiv were at earlier.
We quickly freshened up before making our way to the restaurant.
The building was extremely small but very cosy. The older gentleman who owned the shop was lovely and gave us a seat on the second level, as Shiv requested. We ordered a small sashimi platter, two servings of mixed meat skewers and a fruit plate each for dessert.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The food was actually really good.
At first the servings looked small and I thought we were experiencing a daylight robbery but as we continued to eat, I realised that our order was plenty. We walked into our hotel 10 times less hungry than when we left.
Tumblr media
After relaxing for a little while we decided to get some sleep because we had a lot planned for our second day here in Osaka.

❀ Day 2 ❀
*insert catchy super mario theme*
Tumblr media
For years I've dreamed of going to Super Nintendo World and finally I had the opportunity to go during this trip. The thought of experiencing so much celebration and nostalgia was just beyond exciting to think about.
Tickets are not cheap but luckily I managed to get a deal off webjet and save around ¥5000 (approx $53.56).
My friends and I woke up early and quickly packed our bags before making our way to the train station across Higobashi bridge. It was a beautiful day and I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with happiness.
❀ Quick Tip: When travelling to Osaka, or any place in Japan for that matter, I highly recommend purchasing an IC card. An IC card is very similar to an OPAL card here in Australia. The card allows you to transfer and recharge a yen balance on the card to help you efficiently tap in and out of stations. ❀
As we sat in the train, I decided this would be a perfect time for my friends and I to try the Nanko Ume (salted plum) onigiri. At first the plum was extremely sour but after a few bites I realised the rice and plum balance each other out perfectly. So in my opinion it was a 10/10. Melcam gave it a 2/10 for being too sour and Shiv gave it a 6/10 for the flavour.
Side Note: Littering is a big problem on public transport all around the world and I knew that us as tourists were responsible for putting our rubbish in the bin and keeping our area clean. It may not seem like much but even just the smallest piece of rubbish can make a huge difference.
After around half an hour, we finally made it to the one and only Super Nintendo World, one of Universal Studios greatest new areas.
Tumblr media
The park was surprisingly not too packed and we managed to get in swiftly. I tried my best to document everything we did at the park but it was just too hard as I wanted to thoroughly enjoy the moment.
There were so many activities you could do at the park. Like a game of “Piranha Plant Nap Mishap” which has you and up to three friends hitting the tops of multiple oversized ringing alarm clocks like a crazy game of Whack-A-Mole, to silence the sound and prevent the huge Piranha Plant that looms overhead from awakening. There was just so much to do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a long while of making memories and playing games, my friends and I decided to head to “Kinopio’s Café” and get some food before heading home.
The café was decorated adorably, very similar to every other part of the park, but there was just something different about this building in particular. The menu looked surprisingly incredible and my friends and I took a while to order. In the end, I got the “Teriyaki Chicken & Super Star Rice” (¥1,900)..
Tumblr media
...Shiv got “Yoshi’s Spinach Carbonara” (¥1,900)...
Tumblr media
...and Melcam got “Luigi’s Cream Curry Chicken Sandwich” (¥2,000).
Tumblr media
Once again, Super Nintendo World did not disappoint. The food was absolutely phenomenal and I could find absolutely no flaw with it (besides the price).
After walking around the park for a bit longer, my friends and I decided it was time to go home.
I don’t remember much about the train ride or what we did when we got back to the hotel. The only thing I remember was being beyond excited for our third day in Osaka.
