 ***Adult theme and graphic picture***
In the annals of true crime history, there are cases that continue to intrigue and shock us. Today, we journey back to a chilling and enigmatic tale that shook France to its core. It was the year 1933, a time of economic hardship, class struggle, and a society on the brink of change. And in the midst of it all, two sisters would become the centre of a gripping and disturbing story. Christine and Léa Papin, two seemingly ordinary maids who harboured a sinister secret. Their tale, incorporating abuse, incest, and bloody murder remains shocking even in today’s more jaded society. Be warned: the details of this case are not for the faint of heart. Viewer discretion is advised. Join us as we uncover the chilling truth behind the Papin Sisters' murders of 1933 France and their tale of darkness and despair.

18th August 1774, birth of American explorer, and soldier Meriwether Lewis, who alongside William Clark and Sacagawea as part of the Corp of Discovery would explore the territory of the Louisiana Purchase, and the Pacific Northwest. A further part of Lewis and Clark’s mission was also to collect scientific data, including furthering Thomas Jefferson’s interest in archeology and paleontology. Jefferson collected the bones of Mammoths and Mastodons, believing that they could still be living in the unknown west of the continent; Jefferson’s instructions to Lewis and Clark, and their search across the west of the United States, included locating bones, and searching for signs that these creatures still existed. On the 3rd September 1809, Lewis began the journey from New Orleans to Washington D.C. attempting to recuperate denied money that he claimed he was owed by the war Department, as at the time he was on the verge of ruinous debt. Writing his will before the journey, it is also claimed that while on the journey he attempted suicide, but was restained. On the night of October 10th, he stopped near Nashville, and was noted as behaving in a strange manner, talking to himself. During the night gunshots were heard, and Lewis was found with multiple gunshots, with one Nashville newspaper claiming a slashed throat. While is was generally assumed that Lewis has comitted suicide, many inacuracies remain in the case. In 1848 Lewis body was removed for analysis, the commission concluding "it seems to be more probable that he died by the hands of an assassin." The debate continues to this day. 24th August 1751, English chimney sweep Thomas Colley is executed and hung in chains for the murder of Ruth Osborne in Tring, Hertfordshire. Suspecting that Osborne and her husband John were both Witches, Colley was part of a mob that dragged them from the local workhouse, and subjected them to duking in a pond, with repeated beatings. John Osborne survived the savage incident, and later testified that Colley had murdered his wife by pushing her facedown in the water with a stick until she drowned. Although this act was clearly murder, the last legally executed victim accused of witchcraft in Britian had taken place only 24 years previously in 1727; with the execution of Janet Horne in Scotland. Janet was suffering from what now would be cited as senility, and her daughter was born with deformed hands and feet. These attributes were enough to accuse the pair of witchcraft, as Janet had led her daughter to the Devil where her hands and feet had been transformed into hoofs so that Janet could ride back and forth for his diabolical company. With her daughter evading capture, Janet was covered in tar and paraded down the street before being burnt alive. The Witchcraft act was repealed in Britain eight years later, with the growing intellectual movement of reason known as the Enlightenment.
