For the Bokumono 25th anniversary event: prompt two! The second prompt is "Life on the Farm." While I can't remember jack about either of my ANB playthroughs, I do remember a lot about my Tale of Two Towns playthrough I did at the start of 2014! I downloaded the digital copy of it on my 3DS since I got some eShop cards for Christmas. I was a happy farmer living in Bluebell married to Ash! Sorry not sorry Cam lovers, I'm just not a big fan of the guy. I had lots of various animals living on my happy farm. I decided to draw Lillian with a chicken to represent the farm life since animals are one of my favorite aspects of any farming sim. Do you like it?

The horse gave a pleased whinny as Georgia ran the brush through its silky yet slightly knotted mane.

“That's right, Dakota!  You're the best horse a gal could ask for!” Georgia cooed, running an affectionate hand along her back.  She looked around her, her lips turning into a smirk as she whispered into her ear.  “And we're totally gonna win that race against that... Kana.” She said his name like it was bitter in her mouth.

Giving the mare one final pat, she sauntered over to the pasture fence and leaned on it with a deep sigh, tapping the brush on the weathered fence post.  “Honestly, he's all hat and no cattle.  What does he think, challenging me to a race, anyway?”  

The horse let out a snort and she whipped her head around.  Whether it was directed at her nor not, Georgia gave Dakota an apologetic smile. “Sorry – challenging us to a race.”

She thought of those brown eyes with heavy brows – they hadn't been furrowed, and they gleamed with an unidentifiable quality.

“And what's with the idea of a picnic afterwards, anyway?  Planning to make me prepare half of what he thinks will be his victory feast?  At least I know my curry rice will be decent.  Even Kana could sit still for that.”

She felt her cheeks burned and turned back to look over the fence, focusing on the mountain that divided their two towns.  “I-I mean... I just so happened to see him order it at Yun's...”

He had given her a friendly wave that day, accompanied by a wink that gave her heart a funny jolt.  Before she knew it, she had walked over to his seat and he had brought up the idea of racing.

There was a playful smirk on his lips and she found herself stammering as she accepted his challenge.

The cool autumn air did little to soothe Georgia's flaming cheeks.

“Well, there's no sense getting' worked up over it.  Come tomorrow, he'll be giving us a victory toast!  … During our picnic... t-together...”

Dakota stared at her blankly and Georgia gulped, wheeling on her heel. “Well, I'm burnin' daylight out here, with curry to prepare and all!”  

It's gonna be fine.

Georgia struggled to bite back the shameless grin that was forming on her lips, but she failed.

A little friendly rivalry never hurt!

Each year, one person would be selected from a large pool of candidates to make an offering to the Goddess’ own bird - the Azure Covetous. They say the person who made the offering would be blessed for years to come, and it would appease the Goddess. A fair trade, and a prosperous tradition. Nobody dared to break it.

As with most traditions, they change and fade with time. Now only a few left continue the custom with little left to show. The seasons seem to change at will--bitter winters cover the trees in ice for weeks, or a harsh summer sun will lead to drought and cause even the most sturdy crops to wither. People have been blaming one another for years, with few results from the common people.

Luckily, the various Adventurers Guilds across the continent have been looking to find their own way to reverse the effects of this “mystery.” Through rigorous research, they found there may be a solution: find the Azure Covetous and bring it back to the Goddess’ resting place. With any luck, this “offering” to Her may begin a new cycle--or at the very least, close this one and start something new with the people at the center.

Naturally, a task this large comes with an equally large reward, and Alice is up to the task. She doesn’t care who (or what) gets in her way, or what she needs to do to get this done as long as she’s the one to have her claim to fame. A pint-sized adventurer going on a quest this large will need backup, and she doesn’t care who the guild assigns, as long as they understand their position: she’s in charge, and she will distribute the reward.

The ragtag party (as it always is) must travel mountain tops, search deep underground, and navigate their way through dense forests to earn their keep. Will they be able to complete the task, or will they return home empty handed like many others have before them?
