supportive actions for the people of Iran
In the spirit of keeping the conversation going:
some ideas offered to my congregation by our fellow who is an Iranian-Canadian. (many are very White Liberal tbh)
1. Contact Canada's foreign affairs minister, Melanie Joly, and demand an investigative mechanism be set up to address this violence and ask for a direct statement condemning the actions of the Iranian government. * Telephone: 613-992-0983 (Ottawa) or 514 383-3709 (Montreal) * Email: [email protected] 2. Demands answers from your MPs and MLAs and ask that they put pressures on Iranian officials to be held accountable for their atrocities and wrong doings. Ask them to require transparency in dealing with people connected to Iran’s regime living in Canada. 3. Share information and spread awareness about the events occurring in Iran in person and on social media. Use the hashtag #MahsaAmini 4. Ask your local communities or organizations you are a part of to issue a statement of solidarity and support the Iranians in your cities, countries 5. Organize a demonstration in your community. 6. Join protests held by Iranians living in the diaspora. 7. Check on your Iranian-Canadian colleagues and friends.
Additional information can be found here: * Mass protests in Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini [Video]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHlg4MAzNLgSorry this video is not available in Canada [us a VPN] * Iran Protests: Grave Concerns for Extreme State Violence Amid Rising Death Toll [Article]: https://iranhumanrights.org/.../iran-protests-grave.../ * How protests in Iran over Mahsa Amini's death 'forever moved the debate' over women's rights [Article]: https://www.usatoday.com/.../mahsa-amini.../8074393001/

United States Tax dollars at work :/
Thousands are homeless, children and seniors are without food, and the GOP chose to spend more money on this. Remember to get out and vote. Change the way we view priorities.

Hold politicians accountable | News, Sports, Jobs
Hold politicians accountable | News, Sports, Jobs
<!– SHOW ARTICLE –> To the editor: Setting aside the debate on the legitimacy of the 2020 election, the result is the reality we are now living in. The pain of high energy prices, food prices, inflation, supply chain crisis, high crime rates, falling stock market that is destroying future retirement funds for people and on and on. These things are having a detrimental effect on each and every one…

Israel math really isn't mathing. If they know Hamas has hostages, why are they bombing Gaza relentlessly? Why have they promised in front of the entire world that they will carpet bomb Gaza and turn it to rubble? Don't you want your hostages safe? Or do you know where they are but you're not saving them on purpose so you can continue your genocide?

Following a Chris Brown fan account Lewis? Really? 😭
Mmm I’ve seen spinz boost his work before so I’m not shocked, but still disappointed
Reminder folks, this is the Chris Brown who beats women. It doesn’t matter if you like his music, because he beats women. Listen to something else. He’s living proof the fear-mongering about cancel culture is utter bullshit.

just got blocked over this controversial opinion:
if you have to choose between the literal worst people on earth and pretty bad people, maybe you have to choose the bad people. maybe praxis can come after. maybe damage reduction is better than saying "i wont participate in this system" and getting mad at the government. maybe the bad people wont fuck everyone over as bad as the literal worst people on earth and maybe theyll give you slightly more space to perform praxis than the actual worst people on earth would.

i think holding celebrities accountable for their mistakes is necessary but not treating your elected officials the same way (at the very least) is so strange

I bet my representative is tired of hearing from me but after the shit he pulled on the gas price gouging bill he’s gonna hear about it. And be called out that he has accepted over 150k in donations from the oil and gas lobby over the course of his political career.

German police, Zionists and politicians have surrounded a Berlin community centre where pro-Palestine organizers are holding a press conference about the Palestine Congress that is due to begin today.
For weeks, the German media and politicians have been trying to ban the congress.
Organizers homes have been raided, speakers have been threatened with visa bans and the bank account of Jewish organization and co-organizers, Jewish Voice has been shut down.
The slogan of the congress is "We Accuse", and its aim is to highlight Germany's complicity in Israel's genocide in Gaza.
It's speakers include Greek politician Yanis Varoufakis, Irish MP Richard Boyd Barrett and founder of the Palestine Land Society, Dr.Salman Abu Sitta.

So the EU just suspended all aid to Palestinians in Gaza, which is happening at the same time as the same time Israel is cutting all electricity, fuel and food from Gaza with the Israeli Defense (?) Minister calling them "human animals" while continuing their indiscriminately bombing campaign on Gaza due the Palestinians resistance groups currently retaliating against 17 years straight of Israel's illegal blockade and war crimes.
Apparently its okay to perform collective-punishment to 2 millions Palestinian civilians, half of whom are children, living in the world's most densely population are and biggest open-air prison, for the actions of a few hundreds armed fighters (who again, have the right to resist their occupation)
However, all Israeli settlers are innocent angels and you should never ever hold them accountable to any of the IDF's many crimes or Palestinians being ethnically cleansed from their homes, even though almost all Israelis have served in the IDF and all of them are literally living in stolen Palestinian homes, so statically speaking, the average Israeli settler has more blood on their hand than the average Palestinian by a large margin.
Matter of fact, Western countries should continue giving them their full unconditional support as well as more billions of dollars for free and complete impunity to continue committing even more war crimes in "self-defense," because no Israeli should be held accountable for the crime of any Israeli and while all of this is happening, you will of course continue having the bothsideism crowd crying about how "all killing is bad!" while completely ignoring how the killing is severely disproportional and that the side doing most of the killing is the occupier side with one of the strongest nuclear-power army in the world, who have the entire world on their side with absolutely no consequences whatsoever to their crimes.
So no, not all killing is bad, that's not the reality we're living in, because if "all killing is bad!" then the systematic-killing of so many occupied Palestinian civilians wouldn't be so encouraged/justified while the death of some Israeli occupiers-settlers in retaliation wouldn't be treated as the world's biggest crime against humanity.

Palestinians made a document that contains templates for letters to US, UK, & Canadian politicians, media outlets, and companies in relation to current events in Palestine as well as petitions & other resources. If you live in any of these countries then please select a template, edit it to your preference and send according to the instructions on the relevant page.
Here is a link to it (please share it): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-RUOHHiEtr7uoclQgWN-tCWOihnHIp5hym89aNePi_E/mobilebasic
Aside from that, please protest, support the BDS boycott and spread awareness as much as possible.
